La temporada de verano pega ya los últimos coletazos, con los días finales del mes de agosto y la primera quincena del mes de septiembre (para algunos las vacaciones tan esperadas y para otros las últimas oportunidades para disfrutar de unos días de propino de sol y playa). Pasado el ‘terremoto’ y la efervescencia de los días más calurosos y ajetreados del verano, este periodo es para muchos la etapa más esperada del periodo estival. No pierdan la ocasión, disfruten de Sotogrande que aún guarda mucho que ofrecer. A estas alturas del partido ya se puede calificar de muy positivo, de excelente prácticamente, el balance a nivel global de este verano en Sotogrande. Sotogrande ha mostrado su mejor cara durante el verano Las esperanzas puestas en este verano se han consolidado como se presumía; ha sido un cambio radical, tanto en ocupación como en el calendario de actividades. Al inicio de la temporada podía parecer que había excesiva oferta, demostrándose al paso de los días que cubría con creces la demanda de la masiva 1 José Luis García presencia de visitantes. Editor/Director Nuevamente el Torneo jlgarcia@grupohcp.com Internacional de Polo, organizado por Santa María Polo Club, que en esta edición ha rozado el calificativo de excelente, llenó sus canchas y sus entornos de un sinfín de posibilidades de distracción con zonas de compras y ocio. A esto hay que unir el buen hacer por parte de Sotogrande, S.A. donde la

zona de La Marina, con su Mercado de Levante, hizo crecer por primera vez desde su construcción a una zona divertida y lúdica donde cada tarde o noche era una gozada pasear y consumir. Por fin tenemos los pilares puestos en una Ribera del Marlín que le ha costado resurgir, ¿será este el principio del mejor paseo marítimo del Mediterráneo? ¡Ojala!, y así lo deseamos todos los que amamos y disfrutamos de Sotogrande, que por cierto cada vez son más, sólo hay que contemplar las altas ocupaciones que ha habido, el noventa por ciento en hoteles y lugares de hospedaje, amén de que desde antes del inicio era impensable localizar una villa o apartamento para alquilar; el cartel de completo era una señal significativa porque se han batido todos los record posibles. Y para completar los aspectos positivos, según recibo información de nuestros amigos responsables de las inmobiliarias locales, deben estar muy satisfechos, porque las operaciones, al margen de que se han multiplicado comparado con otros años, también es de tener en cuenta que las demandas son para propiedades de más valor; al parecer los chollos se van quedando atrás y el nuevo propietario ya elige conceptos mas cercanos ó por encima del millón de euros. Confiemos que esta evolución y su estado anímico no se vea empañada por los agoreros y se empiece a alterar el valor de las

cosas porque como dije en la anterior editorial: en los precios de restauración y víveres sí se han dado excesivos aumentos. Tengamos paciencia que todo llega y los que supimos esperar durante estos largos ocho años ya pasados nos llega la hora de emprender nuevos rumbos en nuestros negocios con números en positivo. La única nota positiva – negativa, y lo primero es porque la actuación de los servicios y dotación contra incendios funcionó muy acertadamente en el fuego sucedido en Guadalquitón, donde todas las fuerzas participantes lo hicieron a la perfección; cuestión de agradecer porque estuvo tan cerca de provocar una situación dantesca, y las apariencias eran de que ardía Sotogrande desde diversos puntos de la zona. Y la negativa, dentro de este percance, es que la prevención se debe tener más en cuenta en los periodos indicados para sanear las zonas de matorrales y contar con los dispositivos en permanente alerta para evitar males mayores. Os deseamos a todos los que han disfrutado en estos días de Sotogrande que se lleven la mejor de las impresiones y nos recuerden todo el año con el deseo de volver. Gracias por elegir a Sotogrande. Once again, the International Polo Tournament organised by Santa María Polo Club, which was excellent this year, filled its pitches and surroundings with an infinite number of entertainment possibilities with shopping and leisure zones. To this you have to add the good work carried out by Sotogrande, S.A. in the Marina area with the Mercado de Levante. To complete the list of positives, according to information from our friends in charge of local estate agents, they must be very satisfied because in addition to the fact that figures have multiplied in comparison with other years, it is also worth noting that demand is for more valuable properties. It would appear that bargains are a thing of the past and new owners are choosing properties priced at close to or above one million euros. We trust that this development and the mind set it brings will not be tarnished by shady dealers changing the price of things because as I said in the last edition: there have been excessive rises in the price of restaurants and provisions. We should remain patient, everything will fall into place, and those of us who were able to wait during the last eight years, now is the time to undertake new paths

in our business with positive numbers. The only positive-negative note is as follows. First the positive side, the procedures of the emergency services and firefighting equipment worked really well in the fire that occurred in Guadalquitón, where all of the participating forces worked to perfection; it is a matter to thank them for because we were close to seeing a Dante inferno style situation, and it appeared that different areas in Sotogrande were burning. The negative aspect of this is that preventive work should take the outlined periods into account in order to clean up areas of vegetation and have equipment permanently at the ready in order to avoid greater damage. We hope that all of you who have enjoyed this period in Sotogrande take away the best impression possible of the place and remember us throughout the year, with the hope of returning. La primera quincena de agosto roza el 90 por ciento en ocupación hotelera

El inconcluso mes de agosto ya ha superado al del julio en ocupación hotelera. El balance de ocupación de los alojamientos ubicados en el municipio, destaca que en el año en curso ya se han batido las cifras de 2014 en los meses estivales. Resaltar además que durante el mes de agosto se alcanza el 90% de ocupación. El balance medio de los alojamientos en el mes de julio alcanzó un 77% de ocupación, siendo destacable que en la primera quincena de

agosto se haya superado el 89%, un dato más que favorable. En este sentido, la previsión que hay con respecto a la segunda quincena roza el 85%, una cifra que aumentará considerablemente teniendo en cuenta que todavía queda la reserva de margen de última hora. En cuanto a la ocupación en sí, de los datos se desprende que las estancias son más cortas que en 2014, aunque con una ocupación más continua que, según ha des-

velado Turismo municipal, ronda el 100% en algunos establecimientos hoteleros del término municipal. La amplia agenda de actividades que se han estado celebrando en la zona han repercutido en el número de visitants.

La afamada revista belga ‘Cinetelerevue’ dedica un reportaje a Sotogrande 1 M. Gil

La publicación “Cinetelerevue”, la revista de habla francesa más leída en Bélgica, recoge un artículo de dos páginas a todo color dedicado a Sotogrande. La Delegación Municipal de Turismo informó de su colaboración con la periodista, Catherine Lorsignol, promotora del reportaje. El reportaje se centra en Sotogrande. Junto a las fotografías de gran calidad, en el texto se pone el énfasis en los famosos de todo el mundo que eligen esta urbanización de lujo para sus vacaciones estivales, aunque también se destacan otros aspectos como la calidad de las instalaciones, la riqueza gastronómica, la misma historia de Sotogrande y la realización del Torneo Internacional de Santa María Polo Club. El reportaje está ilustrado con varias fotografías, principalmente de Puerto Sotogrande, aunque también de algunos establecimientos gastronómicos. Su título se puede traducir como “Sotogrande, el lugar de en-

cuentro de los famosos (Sotogrande, le rendez-vous des stars)”, y por eso uno de sus apartados está dedicado a los famosos que frecuentan la urbanización, como Antonio Banderas, Matt Damon, el príncipe Harry de Inglaterra, Sarah Ferguson, Tiger Woods o Shakira. También destaca el texto el ambiente que se crea durante la celebra-

The famous Belgian magazine Cinetelrevue has published a report on Sotogrande Cinetelerevue the most read French language magazine in Belgium has published a two-page colour article dedicated to Sotogrande. The Municipal Tourism Office announced their collaboration with the journalist, Catherine Lorsignol, who was behind the report. The report is focused on Sotogrande. Along with the high quality photographs, the text puts an emphasis on famous people from throughout the world who choose the luxury resort for their summer holidays, although they also highlight other aspects

such as the quality of the facilities, the richness of the cuisine, the history of Sotogrande and the International Polo Tournament at Santa María Polo Club. The report is illustrated with several photographs, mainly of the Port of Sotogrande, although also of some restaurants. The title of the piece can be translated as “Sotogrande, the place where famous people gather” (Sotogrande, le rendez-vous des stars) and consequently, one of the sections is dedicated to famous people who frequent the resort such as

Antonio Banderas, Matt Damon, Prince Harry, Sarah Ferguson, Tiger Woods and Shakira. The text also highlight the atmosphere created when the Polo Tournament takes place, as well as Joseph McMicking’s Sotogrande foundation. Another of the people interviewed is Albert Crouquet, the Belgian who owns El Guacho restaurant. He talks about his meetings at the establishment with the golfer Tiger Woods and with the former King and Queen of Belgium, Balduino and Fabiola.

Mayoral critica al Consistorio por no acudir a la Asamblea de la EUC El concejal y portavoz del PIVG, Jesús Mayoral, criticó al equipo de gobierno local, personando en su primer edil, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, por no acudir el pasado 13 de agosto a la Asamblea General de la Entidad Urbanística de Conservación Parques de Sotogrande, pese a que “el Ayuntamiento es miembro de pleno derecho con voz y voto en el Consejo Rector de la EUC”. “A la asamblea no acudió el representante legal nombrado por el Ayuntamiento en el órgano de dirección, ni tan siquiera enviaron un comunicado de disculpa de no poder asistir ningún miembro del Ayuntamiento, pero ese día y a la misma hora si estaba llena la zona preferente del Polo con la asistencia de Ruiz Boix y todo su séquito”, defendió Mayoral. “No le interesan los problemas de los vecinos aunque pagan sus impuestos y muy altos por cierto, lo que estos años ha hecho que la población de residentes extranjeros en Sotogrande haya mermado de una forma importante y Ruiz Boix y su séquito, solo atiende a la parte especulativa de la urbanización, los negocios, urbanismo y licencias, por cierto algunas en litigios puestos desde la propia EUC en nombre de los vecinos”, manifestó., no se pudo dar respuesta oficial por parte del ayuntamiento a asuntos municipales suscitados en la asamblea y preguntas que se quedaron sin hacer por falta de representación oficial del ayuntamiento.

EL pasado día 13 de agosto se celebró la Asamblea General Ordinaria de la EUC Parques de Sotogrande en el salón de actos del Real Club de Golf Sotogrande con una amplia asistencia. Como en ediciones anteriores, el Presidente y el equipo directivo de la Entidad, expusieron a todos los asistentes los principales asuntos marcados en el orden del día, y dieron respuesta a las preguntas y consultas planteadas durante la Asamblea. Durante la misma, se adoptaron acuerdos por unanimidad en los asuntos declarados en el orden del día (aprobación de las cuentas

señalización viaria; actuaciones en zonas verdes y podas realizadas. The General Assembly of the Urban Conservation Entity for Parks in Sotogrande approves budget for 2016 On 13 August the General Assembly of the Urban Conservation Entity for Parks in Sotogrande was held at the assembly room of Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, with a large number of people attending. As in previous years, the President and the management team of the Entity explained the main matters outlined in the agenda to those attending and responded to questions and in-

quiries put forward during the Assembly. During the meeting, unanimous agreements were adopted for matters outlined in the agenda (passing of the annual accounts of the 2014 ﬁnancial year and the budget for 2016, liquidation of debtors and action against those with overdue payments). Of special interest was the talk about matters linked to the resort such as:

• Work on security matters, maintenance of infrastructures and gardening. There was an extensive explanation of the

primary procedures made to the security service; improvement of asphalted roads; a network against ﬁres; road signs;

work in green zones and pruning that has been carried out. Following the opportune question and answer session, where the management team took note of the requests of several residents, the Assembly concluded after two hours, with the President of the Entity thanking all those present for their participation and for showing conﬁdence in the Governing Body.

La EUC quiere comunicar a los vecinos que se ha procedido a reforzar la seguridad en la urbanización mediante medios humanos y técnicos, de cara a afrontar la máxima ocupación en los meses estivales. Este incremento estará activo en el conjunto de la Urbanización y en particular en los accesos a la misma. Al igual que el verano anterior, la E.U.C. distribuye entre los residentes un folleto de recomendaciones y los números de teléfono de

seguridad (956795194) insistiéndoles a que su uso se limite en exclusividad para asuntos de SEGURIDAD. Aprovechamos para incidir en algunas sugerencias Tenga presente que una mayor eficacia en la seguridad de su vivienda se logra instalando dispositivos electrónicos de alarma. El alcalde de San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, y el delegado de Urbanismo, Juan Manuel Ordoñez, mantuvieron una reunion con el equipo de dirección del Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande, quienes plantearon una ampliación de sus instalaciones. En concreto, presentaron en el Consistorio la necesidad que tiene el colegio de una zona deportiva

más amplia, para lo que habría que ocupar terrenos aledaños. Ordóñez desveló que “están viendo una zona y ahora el ayuntamiento tendrá que ver la viabilidad urbanística para poder dotar de esa infraestructura que están pidiendo”. El edil explicó de que se trata de “un gran proyecto de ampliación, el colegio se lo merece pero se tra-

ta de una zona verde por lo que se tiene que remitir al Plan General que está vigente para ver la dotación y poder hacer una concesión administrativa”. Ordoñez aseguró que “el colegio crecería mucho con esas instalaciones y con las diferentes partes que tiene, porque el proyecto es más amplio ya que está dotado de tres fases y esta sería la primera”.

Gran evento solidario, a favor de Nepal en la Finca Mar de Naranjos La finca Mar de Naranjos acogió un evento solidario llamado ‘Revive Nepal’ que fue un éxito rotundo. La gente se volcó con la causa y acudió para disfrutar de las actividades que ofreció el evento, que estuvo acompañado de un buen asado argentino. La finca, situada en San Martín del Tesorillo, se encuentra a cinco minutos de Sotogrande y cuenta con unas infraestructuras maravillosas en un espacio sin igual. Un goteo incesante de colaboración fue con lo que contó Mar de Naranjos, que cumplió con creces el objetivo de recaudar fondos, como bien se percibió en el rostro de sus organizadores. En un marco incomparable, bajo actividades, zona para niños… los que acudieron disfrutaron de una velada al mismo tiempo que aportaban un importante granito de arena destinado directamente a ‘Revive Nepal Project’, una iniciativa surgida tras el terremoto del pasado abril, con el objetivo de colaborar en la reconstrucción de edificios públicos, tales como escuelas y clínica, y la formación en técnicas sostenibles (como el ‘superadobe’), para que puedan continuar con la labor. Los asistentes disfrutaron de actuaciones en directo como Lenteju-Ellas y Mimos en la radio, además de tener a disposición paseos en pony, castillos hinchable para los más pequeños. Para cenar, un magnífico asado argentino. El evento contó con una amplia subasta de productos, entre los que se encontraba un capote firmado por el torero José Tomás, y muchas cosas más.

The public really got behind the cause and came to enjoy the activities on offer at the event that was accompanied by a good Argentine barbeque. The Finca, located in San Martín del Tesorillo, is five minutes away from Sotogrande and has a marvellous infrastructure in place as well as an unbeatable space. There was an endless show of collaboration with the event at Mar de Naranjos, and it far surpassed its fundraising aims, as could be seen on the faces of the organizers. In an incomparable setting, with activities and a children’s zone…visitors who came were able to enjoy an evening out while making an important contribution that went directly to the “Revive Nepal Project”. The initiative emerged following the earthquake in April, with the aim of collaborating on the reconstruction of public buildings, such as schools and a clinic, and providing training for sustainable techniques, such as Superadobe building, so that work can continue. Those in attendance were able to enjoy live performances such as Lenteju-Ellas and Mimos on the radio, and there were also pony rides, and bouncy castles for young children. When it was time to eat, there was a magnificent Argentine barbeque. La Guardia Civil detiene a una persona como presunto autor de un serial de robos en Sotogrande Se le imputan tres hurtos con violencia y diez con fuerza entre 2014 y 2015 en la Urbanización 1 M. Gil

La Guardia Civil de Algeciras detuvo a una persona como presunta autora de varios delitos de robos con fuerza en las cosas y robo con violencia, al que se le han imputado otros doce robos cometidos en Sotogrande y Estepona. Se le imputa 3 robos con violencia y otros 10 robos con fuerza, cometidos entre 2014 y 2015, en viviendas de la Urbanización de Sotogrande. Las investigaciones se han llevado a cabo por la Guardia Civil de Guadiaro que con una gran labor logra esclarecer una larga investigación. Durante las investigaciones, la Guardia Civil cotejó que se habían producido una serie de robos cometido con un ‘modus operandi’ similar en la zona. Tras un robo en el interior de una vivienda en

el que lograron sustraer 1.100 libras, detectaron, con la colaboración de la seguridad privada de la Urbanización, la presencia de un vehículo que había accedido a la misma con matrícula diferente a la que posteriormente salió de la Urbanización. Tras va-

rias investigaciones se confirmó que el vehículo había sido sustraído tras un robo en interior de vivienda en Estepona. Otra de las matrículas utilizadas correspondían a un vehículo sustraído. El vehículo fue localizado en la urbanización La Paloma de

Manilva. Al intentar detener el vehículo, su conductor inicia la fuga. En la huida, a gran velocidad, llegó a embestir al vehículo oficial, ocasionándole diversos daños, circulando en dirección contraria y colisionando de frente con un vehículo que circulaba por la

vía, cuyo conductor resulto herido leve. El ahora detenido se bajó del vehículo e inició una huida a pie, siendo seguido por los agentes, atravesando la autovía, arrojándose por un terraplén y ocultándose entre la vegetación, donde lograron detenerlo tras un fuerte forcejeo que causó lesiones de carácter leve a uno de los Guardias Civiles. Con ésta detención se ha logrado esclarecer trece robos, tres que se cometieron en Estepona y en la que sustrajeron el vehículo y las placas de matrícula recuperadas y otros diez robos perpetrados en la Urbanización de Sotogrande, comprobando como cada vez que cometía un robo accedía con el vehículo ahora recuperado y a su salida le cambiaba las placas de matrículas.

El pasado sábado 15 de agosto La Reserva Club de Golf acogió el torneo inaugural McMicking Zobel Invitational Pro-Am. Los organizadores consiguieron reunir un impresionante elenco de profesionales del tour de la PGA. Entre los asistentes se encontraba, por ejemplo, Michael Campbell, ganador

del US Open, así como algunos miembros del equipo de la Ryder Cup, y campeones del mundo como Manuel Piñero, José María Cañizares, Antonio Garrido y José Rivero. El extraordinario nivel de los diez profesionales de la PGA y los treinta jugadores invitados, unido a un

El espíritu filantrópico y la cordialidad prevalecieron en La Reserva Club de Golf el pasado lunes 17 de agosto, cuando más de 140 jugadores de golf se dieron cita para participar en el Torneo Benéfico “Best Buddies”. El evento fue impulsado por la “Fundación Best Buddies”, una organización sin ánimo de lucro dedicada a establecer un movimiento global de voluntarios que crea oportunidades de amistad, empleo integrado y desarrollo de liderazgo para personas con discapacidad intelectual y de desa-

rrollo (IDD). Como resultado de su participación en Best Buddies, las personas con IDD pueden conseguir empleos gratificantes, vivir por su cuenta, convertirse en líderes inspiradores, y hacer amistades de por vida. El entusiasmo se dejaba sentir por igual tanto entre los participantes como el público, convocados alrededor de la noble causa de la Fundación. The event was held for the Best Buddies Foundation, a non- profit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for

people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). As a result of their involvement with Best Buddies, people with IDD secure rewarding jobs, live on their own, become inspirational leaders, and make lifelong friendships. The excitement of the participants and the audience alike gathered around the noble cause of the Foundation. Mr. Topiol communicated the shared sentiment by emphasizing that La Reserva community “feels privileged to

Informe Un incendio calcina 80 hectáreas de paraje protegido en Guadalquitón El fuego genera un gran revuelo en Sotogrande, por su cercanía con Paseo del Parque, en una de las jornadas más concurridas del verano. 1 Manuel Gil

La llamativa y espectacular enorme columna de humo que se apreciaba desde casi cualquier punto de la zona resultó la voz de alarma en una de las jornadas con mayor afluencia de turistas y visitantes en Sotogrande, durante el ‘fin de semana de largo’ de agosto. El incendio declarado en la tarde del 14 de agosto, pasadas las cinco de la tarde, en la zona de Guadalquitón y Borondo (entre Sotogrande y Alcaidesa) arrasó con un total de 80

hectáreas de paraje protegido en los Alcornocales. El fuerte viento de poniente avivó el fuego en el que afortunadamente no hubo que lamentar daños humanos aunque sí una zona de gran valor ecológico. Un susto que se alargó durante toda la tarde en Sotogrande por la cercanía del fuego a la conocida avenida de la Urbanización de Paseo del Parque. La evidente y llamativa columna de humo hizo alertar a gran parte de los residents en

En el lugar del fuego acudiero dos hidroaviones, cinco helicópteros, una unidad médica (por si fuese necesario aunque no hubo que desocupar viviendas ni atender daños personales), cinco grupos de especialistas, cuatro autobombas y personal del Consorcio Provincial de Bomberos y de la Guardia Civil.

Las labores de extinción fueron siendo más complicadas de lo habitual debido al fuerte viento de poniente que alimentó a las llamas; motivo uno de los cuales (unido con el que se desencadenaba a la misma hora en la zona de Chullera, Manilva aunque de menor extensión) por el que planea desde ese momento la sombra de la intencionalidad del mismo. Verdemar reclama a la Junta una reforestación de la zona El portavoz de Verdemar-Ecologistas en Acción, Antonio Muñoz, reclamó a la Junta de Andalucía un plan de actuación que incluya la reforestación y mejora en la zona de Guadalquitón, tras el incendio. Muñoz señaló que en la zona del incendio se encuentras viejos que terminarán muriendo. “Ha quedado muy dañada una finca que es un emblema de la zona del cinturón industrial y de la zona turística, dentro del parque natural de Los Alcornocales”, valoró. Por lo que el grupo ecologista ha pedido a la Junta que se emplee a fondo en realizer una reforestación y mejora del entorno. En este sentido, Muñoz ha afirmado que el término municipal de San Roque tiene zonas que con el poniente cuentan con un gran riesgo de incendios forestales, “y ya no es solo por el valor ecológico, sino que hay muchas viviendas y se pone en peligro la integridad de las personas”.

Además, recordó que se trata de la última zona virgen del mediterráneo, cuyos alcornoques llegan casi hasta la misma playa. Los ecologistas, que estuvieron en la zona sofocando distintos puntos toda la tarde y hasta bien entrada la noche, también lamentaron este incendio. El portavoz del grupo, Antonio Muñoz, señaló que “es una repetición del grave incendio que se produjo en este paraje en el año 1997”.

EUC Parques de Sotogrande agradecela labor de los servicios de emergencias La Entidad Urbanística de Conservación Parques de Sotogrande comunicó su agradecimientoer a todos los integrantes del operativo que participaron en el control del incendio en Guadalquitón, su gran dedicación y profesionalidad. “En especial queremos trasladar este agradecimiento a INFOCA, Protección Civil, Cuerpo de Bomberos, Policía Local de San Roque, Guardia Civil y Verdemar”, dijo. “Sin la gran dedicación de todos ellos no hubiera sido posible controlar el incendio. Por todo ello afortunadamente el daño causado en el incendio ha sido mucho menor de lo que se preveía en las primeras horas. En nombre de los vecinos de la urbanización de Sotogrande nuestro más sincero agradecimiento”, afirmó.

Tercer incendio del verano, en la zona Se trata de la tercera ocasión, con el de Guadalquitón que el fuego azota esta zona en lo que va de verano. El primer se produjo en la zona de Alcaidesa, a principios del mes de julio, mientras que unos días más tarde se volvió a dar un incendio, en la cercana Sierra del Arca al anterior fuego. En las tres ocasiones la sombra de la intencionalidad rondó por lo llamativo de sus focos de origen y las condiciones de viento. En todos los casos, se mantiene abierta una investigación para esclarecer los hechos.

A fire destroys 80 hectares of protected land in Guadalquitón The fire has caused a lot of commotion in Sotogrande due to its close proximity to Paseo del Parque, on one of the busiest days in summer The striking and immense tower of smoke that could be seen from almost any point in the area caused great alarm on one of the busiest days in terms of tourists and visitors in Sotogrande, during the “long weekend” in August. The fire was reported in on 14 August in the afternoon, after five o’clock, in the Guadalquitón and Borondo area (between Sotogrande and Alcaidesa). It ruined a total of 80 hectares of protected natural reserve land in Los Alcornocales. The strong westerly wind helped the fire along and fortunately nobody was harmed however there was damage to an area of great ecological value. The scare carried on throughout the whole afternoon in Sotogrande due to how close the fire was to the well-known avenue of Paseo del Parque in the Resort. The obvious and striking column of smoke put a large majority of residents on red alert on what was one of the busiest days in the area. This was due to the celebration of the High handicap final in the Copa de Plata in the 44th International Tournament at Santa María Polo Club. The cloud of smoke, to be seen at the end of pitch 4 at Los Pinos was another of the striking images of the day, along with that of hydroplanes flying over the area. The fire was under control sometime after 11 o’clock at night on that day but it was not completely extinguished and some of the emergency services went back until the early hours of Sunday 16 August. The site of the fire was attended by two hydroplanes, five helicopters, a medical unit (in case it was required although it was necessary to evacuate residences or attend to personal damage), five

Verdemar asks the Regional Government to reforest the area

pressed its regret at the new fire especially as it is one of the most important natural areas, not only with the municipality, but also within the region. For the San Roque councillor, as well as the ecologists “everything seems to indicate that both fires were started intentionally which means that it was the same culprits”. Ruiz Box expressed his hope that “the unscrupulous individuals who attacked this ecological jewel in the municipality would be arrested soon, a place that is currently in the process of being included in the expansion of Los Alcornocales Natural Park by the Regional Government of Andalusia.” He also reminded people that this is the last unspoiled area in the Mediterranean, a place where the cork trees almost extend down to the beach itself. The ecologists, who were in the area putting out patches of fire all afternoon and well into the night, also expressed their sadness at events. The spokesperson, Antonio Muñoz, stated that “it is a repeat of the serious fire that took place in this place in 1997”.

Cuidar la buena impresión y una imagen impecable cara a los residentes, y especialmente para visitantes y turistas, se antoja un valor imprescindible en un destino único en el mundo como es Sotogrande. Desde hace algún tiempo se puede apreciar fácilmente la dejadez y mala presencia de los viales de acceso a la Urbanización en las diferentes calzadas que comunican con los accesos a la misma. Una función que precisamente no pertenece, en cuanto a competencias, a las entidades o administraciones locales, sino a la Red de Carreteras Estatal del Ministerio de Fomento. Una responsabilidad que necesita mayor atención y mejoras y que deben ser reclamadas, como ya han sido en varias ocasiones, por las instituciones de la zona. En la Organización y Funciones de la Red de Carreteras, de Fomento, en el punto 1 figuran las siguientes competencias. “La

A. este verano en el que mejoró, acondicionó y acotó, todo el anexo del vial desde la entrada a La Reserva de Sotogrande hasta el Colegio Internacional (en la carretera a Castellar). Mencionar también, que la EUC Parques de Sotogrande se encarga del mantenimiento en la Urbanización de manera más que notable.

La vía auxiliar desde Pueblo Nuevo a Mar y Sol.

El acceso al puerto, desde la calle de la Iglesia en Torreguadiaro, descuidado y el acerado sin finalizar. Una de las zonas en las que más llama la atención la dejadez de los anexos es la vía secundaria que comunica desde Pueblo Nuevo hasta el Centro Comercial Mar y Sol, antes de tomar dirección a La Reserva. Los aledaños a la vía muestra una gran dejadez en la maleza, acumulación de restos y basuras y una mala imagen. Parecido es la estampa que se puede apreciar en la vía que comunica desde la entrada Sotogrande Alto hasta Supercor (la rotonda de acceso a la Urbanización), en ambos sentidos. Una gran cantidad de matorral descuidado (con el peligro que ello conlleva tanto para visibilidad a larga distancia, como para limpieza) y una gran acumulación de basuras en las cunetas de la vía. En esta zona, alargando las dos vertientes hacia las vías de servicio norte y sur, rescatar una de las mayores demandas de los vecinos desde hace años. La mejora

Tanto la sur (Supercor) en la zona de incorporación a la A-7, como el desafortunado bacheado constante con el que cuenta la de Pueblo Nuevo se hacen dos demandas importantes para la zona. Por último, destacar una situación parecida que sucede en el acceso a Puerto Sotogrande (desde Torreguadiaro) en la última parte, dándose la mano con el inicio/ final de la calle de la Iglesia. Aunque en este caso, sí podría contar con mayor intervención municipal. La dejadez del matorral, restos o incluso la no finalización del tramo de acerado son cuestiones a solucionar. Todo ello, en busca de alcanzar una excelencia al nivel de otros valores y servicios, propios de un destino único como es Sotogrande.

Access points to the Resort, unfinished business in Sotogrande • The different roads and annexes that link the different entrance points to the Resort are in a significant state of neglect. T • he responsibilities for preservation, maintenance and renovation lie with the State Road Network. • Rubbish and untended vegetation offer a bad image of the area. Looking after the good appearance and impeccable image for residents, and especially for visitors and tourists, is an essential aspect in a unique destination such as Sotogrande. For some time now, it has been possible to see the neglect and poor state of access roads to the Resort, on the different walkways that link to its access points. This job is not the responsibility of local bodies and administrations, but rather of the State Road Network and Ministry of Development. Greater attention needs to be paid to this responsibility and improvements must be called for, as they already have been, on several occasions by institutions in the area. In the Organisation and Functions of the Road Network, part of the Ministry of Development, point 1 outlines the following responsibilities: “The management of roads and their defence in public area. The management and monitoring of environmental protection activities. The conservation, maintenance and restoration of roads; and the quality management of road services”, among other aspects, outlined in points F, I, L and M. These procedures, in terms of

Also, it is necessary to improve and repair the paving on both roads. The south road (Supercor) in the area that joins up to the A-7, as well as the unfortunate and constant pot-holes on the Pueblo Nuevo roads are two important complaints in the area. It is worth taking into account the amount of vehicles that use those roads on a daily basis.

Lastly, it is necessary to highlight a similar situation on the last section of the access road leading to the Port of Sotogrande (from Torreguadiaro), at the start/end of Calle de la Iglesia. However, in this case, greater action from the municipal council could be taken. The neglect of vegetation, waste and even the fact that the last section of paving has not been finished, are matters to be resolved. All of these improvements are aimed at obtaining excellence in line with the other values and services that define a unique destination such as Sotogrande.

¿Qué balance hace del verano en Sotogrande? Maravilloso, excelente, de diez, inmejorable… son algunos de los muchos elogios que los lectores de El Periódico de Sotogrande han repartido para responder a la cuestión que planteamos en la sección La Ventana de Opinión

de esta edición. El verano empieza a evaporarse pero quedan los recuerdos y las sensaciones de los que viven o visitan Sotogrande para disfrutar con la variedad de opciones que puede encontrar. Por eso,

un balance de cómo ha vivido y que le ha parecido la temporada estival, y qué mejoraría, ha sido la cuestión de la sección. Los lectores encuestados, con unanimidad: el verano ha sido maravilloso.

Las playas cada vez mejores y con más actividades para todas las edades; el polo, con unas instalaciones de ensueño que reciben a las mayores estrellas del mundo; campos de golf con una calidad exquisita, el Mercado de Le-

vante… en definitiva, todo ventajas. Respecto a cosas a mejorar, poca cosa. Algunas zonas que requieren mayor limpieza sobre todo por los accesos desde Guadiaro y Pueblo Nuevo.

Summer is beginning to fade out but the memories and feelings of those who live in or visit Sotogrande remain due to the enjoyment of a range of choices to be found here. Therefore, an assessment of what the summer season

has been like, with experiences, and what improvements could be made, has been the question posed in the section. The readers surveyed were unanimous about one thing: summer has been marvellous. The beaches

are always improving and there are more activities for all age groups; polo, with dream-like facilities to welcome the world’s greatest starts; golf courses that are exquisite quality, the Mercado de Levante…in short, lots of ben-

efits. With regard to things that need improving, there is not much on the list. Some areas need better cleaning, especially access points from Guadiaro and Pueblo Nuevo.

Galería Efímera muestra la exposición de arte figurativo de Pedro Quesada 1 Jesús Sanz

Galería Efímera sigue acercando el mejor arte a Sotogrande e inauguró la exposición de arte figurativo de Pedro Quesada. Esculturas y dibujos que los amantes de las obras pueden degustar hasta el 15 de septiembre en el espacio de la galerista Adriana Sainz de Vicuña que se ubica en el centro comercial Galerías Paniagua.

Esculturas de bronce y talladas en madera, así como dibujos realizados a lápiz. Y todo con un gran realismo de un artista en ciernes y que acumula la experiencia de haber sido discípulo del pintor Antonio López. Pedro Quesada, actualmente trabajando en Madrid y centrado en el sin fin de encargos que acumula, ha dedicado

El alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, criticó duramente que “el Gobierno de la nación del PP no ha sabido encontrar cómo encajar una partida para la finalización del Paseo Marítimo de Torreguadiaro en los últimos cinco Presupuestos Generales del Estado (PGE)”. Para el primer edil, la inversión prevista en los PGE de 2016 para el Campo de Gibraltar es “irrisoria” y, en lo que respecta a San Roque, “ni se asoman por el municipio”. Además, cuestionó la actuación en esta parcela de José Ignacio Landaluce, alcalde de Algeciras y Di-

putado nacional por el Partido Popular. Recordó que “Landaluce visitó la zona de Torreguadiaro en el verano de 2012 y se comprometió entonces a conseguir la inclusión en los Presupuestos Generales del Estado de la partida necesaria, que se eleva a 800.000 euros. Pero no lo logró para los presupuestos de 2013, ni en los de 2014, ni en los de 2015. Y vemos que tampoco en los de 2016”. Señaló que “en noviembre de 2005, durante el primer Gobierno de Rodríguez Zapatero, se inauguró la primera fase de

este Paseo Marítimo, una inversión de 2 millones de euros que ha supuesto un revulsivo para la zona. Gracias a esta obra se ha podido incrementar el número de visitantes al multiplicarse el número de plazas de aparcamientos, lo que ha potenciado enormemente a Torreguadiaro como centro gastronómico del Campo de Gibraltar”.

The mayor believes that the forecasted 2016 budget for Campo de Gibraltar is “absurdly low” and that as for San Roque, they “should not even think about coming to the municipality”. He also questioned the actions of José Ignacio Landaluce, the mayor of Algeciras and national Member of Parliament for the PP, in relation to the latter’s actions in this area. Boix reminded people that “Landaluce visited the Torreguadiaro area during summer 2012. At that time, he promised that the necessary budget amount of 800,000 euros would be included in the

General State Budget. However he did not manage that in 2013, in 2014, nor in 2015. We can now also see that he has failed to do so in 2016”. He stated that “in November 2005, during Rodriguez Zapatero’s first Government, the first phase of the Paseo Marítimo got underway with an investment of 2 million euros that was a wake-up call for the area. Thanks to that work it has been possible to increase the number of visitors by multiplying the number of parking spaces which has enormously strengthened Torreguadiaro’s status as the gastronomic capital of Campo de Gibraltar.”

La finca, situada en San Martín del Tesorillo, se encuentra a cinco minutos de Sotogrande y cuenta con unas infraestructuras maravillosas en un espacio sin igual.

Una prueba más de que la dualidad de la ciudad de Sevilla no descansa ni en verano y mucho menos si estamos hablando de fútbol. En el barco de la izquierda se puede apreciar como en lo alto del mástil ondea la bandera del Sevilla FC. Algo que debió parecer simpático a su vecino (barco de la derecha) que iza orgulloso también su bandera del Real Betis Balompié. ¿Quién comenzaría?

Con esta idea, la Academia de Música de SIS (Sotogrande International School), ha organizado su primer Summer Camp Rock, donde los chicos y chicas amantes de la música han podido acercarse y conocer las múltiples facetas que componen esta área, así como dedicar un tiempo especíﬁco para perfeccionar sus conocimientos y habilidades. De la mano de nuestra profesora Laura Krier, los alumnos han dedicado su tiempo al aprendizaje de técnicas

vocales, descubrir su parte creativa escribiendo letras y a la vez, asistir a sesiones de grabación en el estudio dirigidos por Paul Sedkowski, productor y técnico de sonido con gran experiencia a nivel internacional. Como cierre del taller, celebraron una actuación donde pudieron mostrar lo aprendido en estos días y compartir con los amigos la buena sensación del trabajo bien hecho. Somos conscientes de la importancia del aprendizaje de la música para el desarrollo del celebro desde las edades más tempranas; investigaciones indican que la instrucción musical ayuda a

mejorar las habilidades que son fundamentales para el éxito académico y para el desarrollo de la persona a lo largo de su vida. niques, discovering their creative side by writing letters and attending recording sessions in the studio led by Paul Sedkowski, a producer and sound technician with a large amount of experience on an international level. To close out the workshop, a performance took place and pupils were able to show what they have learned over the last few days and share the feeling of a job well done with friends. We are aware of the importance of learning music for brain development from a very early

age; research shows that music teaching helps to improve skills that are crucial for academic success and for personal development throughout life. Legalización de obras sin licencia Es muy frecuente que lleguen a nuestro despacho clientes que quieren vender inmuebles en los que en algún momento se han realizado obras sin solicitar la correspondiente licencia municipal de obras, y que, en el momento de la venta, necesitan legalizarlas, pues así lo exige la parte compradora. CONSECUENCIAS DE REALIZAR OBRAS SIN LICENCIA En el caso de que se realice una obra sin licencia, el Ayuntamiento puede aplicar al promotor distintas sanciones que van desde la paralización de las obras, hasta la demolición de lo construido. Dependiendo de cuándo se detecta la infracción se plantean los siguientes supuestos: • DURANTE LA OBRA: Una vez detectado que se están realizando obras sin licencia, el Ayuntamiento ordena su paralización inmediata, dando un plazo al promotor para que solicite la correspondiente licencia. Tras la paralización, el Ayuntamiento puede imponer multas al promotor, precintar las instalaciones, retirar materiales a costa del promotor

y ordenar la suspensión de suministros de obra. En el caso de que las obras sean incompatibles con el planeamiento o que el promotor se niegue a su legalización, el Ayuntamiento decretará su demolición a costa del promotor. • HASTA SEIS AÑOS TRAS LA FINALIZACIÓN: Una vez detectado que se han realizado obras sin licencia, el Ayuntamiento da un plazo al promotor para que legalice las obras. En el caso de que las obras sean incompatibles con el planeamiento o que el promotor se niegue a su legalización, el Ayuntamiento decretará su demolición a costa del promotor. • PASADOS SEIS AÑOS DESDE LA FINALIZACIÓN: Pasados seis años desde la finalización de las obras, ya no se puede decretar su demolición. Los propietarios podrán legalizar las obras por iniciativa propia, siempre y cuando sean compatibles con el planeamiento. Las obras ya realizadas se consideran “fuera de ordenación” hasta que se proceda a su legalización (si esto fuera posible). Con carácter general, en los edificios declarados fuera de ordenación no podrán reali-

zarse obras de consolidación, aumento de volumen, modernización e incremento de su valor de expropiación. CÓMO LEGALIZAR OBRAS SIN LICENCIA Para legalizar obras hechas sin licencia hay que presentar en el Ayuntamiento un Proyecto de Legalización redactado por un arquitecto, en el que se describen las obras realizadas y se justifica el cumplimiento de las distintas normativas de aplicación. En función de las posibilidades de adaptación a la normativa de las obras realizadas pueden darse tres casos: • LAS OBRAS REALIZADAS SE ADAPTAN A LA NORMATIVA: En este caso el promotor presenta el proyecto en el Ayuntamiento, paga las tasas municipales y pasado un tiempo recibe la concesión de la licencia. El proyecto de legalización contará con memorias, planos, mediciones y presupuesto. El Ayuntamiento calculará las tasas municipales en función del alcance de las obras. Estas tasas varían en cada municipio, y suelen estar entre el 4 y el 6 % del coste de ejecución de la obra.

• LAS OBRAS REALIZADAS NO SE ADAPTAN A LA NORMATIVA, PERO SE PUEDEN ADAPTAR CON LA REALIZACIÓN DE OBRAS: En este caso, además de describir las obras ya realizadas, se describirán las obras necesarias para adaptar la construcción a la normativa. En algunos casos será necesario demoler partes de la construcción para su adaptación al planeamiento. El proyecto de legalización contará con todos los documentos propios de un proyecto de ejecución para la correcta ejecución de las obras, incluyendo pliego de condiciones y estudio de seguridad y salud. Además, el propietario deberá contratar un director de obras, que será el responsable de emitir el Certificado Final de la Obra. • LAS OBRAS REALIZADAS NO SE PUEDEN ADAPTAR A LA NORMATIVA: En este caso, no se concederá la licencia, por lo que no tiene sentido presentar el proyecto de legalización. El Ayuntamiento podrá decretar la demolición de las obras hasta que pasen seis años desde su finalización. Pasado este plazo, el edificio quedará “fuera de ordenación”.

Además de la falta de licencia municipal de obras, otro de los problemas habituales en la compraventa de inmuebles, es la discrepancia entre la realidad física de las construcciones y la descripción de las mismas en el Registro de la Propiedad, por haberse llevado a cabo ampliaciones sin declarar en escritura pública y sin inscribir. El polo continúa marcando la diferencia en Sotogrande Una pregunta nos ronda la cabeza, ¿Qué sucedería si un verano no gozáramos de la temporada de polo? Pues sinceramente consideramos que habría que inventarse una actividad con capacidad de acaparar tanta atención o mal nos iría. El polo es hoy en día el motor de este espectacular rincón que todos desean imitar y que difícilmente se podrá lograr: Sotogrande. Quizás enriquecer aun mas, si cabe, a los actores principales de esta dinámica deportiva, a patrones, jugadores, árbitros y resto de la amplia orgánica necesaria para llevar a cabo tan magno evento. La coincidencia de buena parte de los mismos en opinar que Sotogrande es el lugar idílico para disfrutar la temporada en familia es un clamor, por lo que potenciar estos planes se nos antoja casi necesario para fomentar la llegada de los grandes patrones del resto del planeta. Y si este año se quedo un poco corto el cuadro de equipos, todo hace indicar que la próxima temporada de nuevo se remontara con la llegada de grandes organizaciones de polo de Asia y Norteamérica, entre otros puntos. Así que disfrutemos de la gran final de la Copa de Oro, que pondrá el broche de platino a una temporada para enmarcar.

Eso es lo que se ha comprobado en las instalaciones de Los Pinos de Santa María Polo Club, donde se celebró un exitoso Campeonato de Andalucía y de España Infantil y Juvenil. 44 jugadores se dieron cita en un torneo que tuvo a La Indiana como campeón de Alto Handicap, a Dos Lunas como campeón de Mediano Handicap y a Ayala como triunfador de Bajo Handicap. Los duelos de Alto y Mediano, jugados a dos chukkers, mientras que la americana de Bajo se jugó a uno. El ambiente, espectacular, pues es una cita

única para disfrutar de los más pequeños polistas. En Mediano handicap, el campeón fue Dos Lunas a imponerse por 2-0 a El Caracol. En Alto Handicap, la gran final dejó como campeón a La Indiana tras imponerse 2-1 a Don Peludo. Y en el nivel Bajo Handicap, los más pequeños hicieron las delicias de los aficionados, Ayala concluyó primero el campeonato, seguido de Santa María 2º y Shakib Polo 3º. Apellidos como Cambiaso, García Grossi, Taranco, Harper, Donoso o Toccalino, entre muchos otros, formaron parte de un torneo que ha establecido su record de participación con los 44 polistas.

Sincerely speaking, we believe that it would be necessary to invent an activity with the capacity to capture such a lot of attention or things would go badly for the area. Nowadays, polo is the driving force behind this spectacular part of the world that everyone wants to emulate, as difficult as that is: Sotogrande. Perhaps, we should make the main actors behind this sport richer, if that is possible: owners, players, referees and the rest of the large framework that is necessary in order to carry out such a momentous event. The fact that a large number of these people coincide in thinking that Sotogrande is an idyllic place to enjoy the season with family is an outcry, therefore strengthening these plans is almost necessary in order to encourage the arrival of other big managers from the rest of the planet. If the list of teams this year was a little on the short side, everything seems to indicate that next season will make a comeback with the arrival of large polo organisations from Asia and North America, among other destinations. So, let us sit back and enjoy a great Copa de Oro final that will add the finishing touch to a season worth remembering.

Polo has a secure future in Sotogrande The future of polo is more than guaranteed. This was evident to see at the facilities of Los Pinos de Santa María Polo Club, where the successful Under-14 and Under-19 Andalusian Championship of Spain was held. 44 players came together in a tournament that La Indiana won in the High Handicap category, Dos Lunas in the Medium Handicap, and Ayala in the Low Handicap Category. The High and Medium handicap matches were played with two chukkas, while the American Low category was played with one. The atmosphere was spectacular as this is a unique event for seeing the

youngest polo players in action. In the Medium Handicap tournament, Dos Lunas triumphed with a 2-0 victory over El Caracol. The High Handicap tournament ended with La Indiana as victors following a 2-1 win over Don Peludo. In the Low Handicap category, the youngest players delighted fans, Ayala ended up winning followed by Santa María in 2nd and Shakib Polo in 3rd.. Names such as Cambiaso, García Grossi, Tarano, Harper, Donoso and Toccalino, among many others, were part of a tournament that set its participation record with 44 polo players.

Cambiaso, no hay quinto malo Adolfo Cambiaso afronta la posibilidad de sumar un nuevo triunfo y completar un ‘repóker’ perfecto en Sotogrande, entre las temporadas de 2014 y 2015, en el caso de conquistar la Copa de Oro del 44 Torneo Internacional de Santa María Polo Club. Lo haría con distintos equipos en sendas temporadas (Valiente y Dubai, respectivamente) aunque a nivel individual impondría una hegemonía para el recuerdo, siendo ganador de todos los máximos galardones en Sotogrande desde la Copa de Oro que conquistó Ellerston en 2013. Adolfo Cambiaso is facing the possibility of racking up another win and completing the perfect hand of five wins in Sotogrande, between the 2014 and 2015 seasons, should he win the Copa de Oro at the 44th International Tournament at Santa María Polo Club. He would be doing so with different teams in different seasons (Valiente and Dubai, respectively). However, on an individual level it would mean imposing hegemony to be remembered, as the winner of all of the top awards in Sotogrande since the Copa de Oro won by Ellerston in 2013. Gran exhibición benéfica de Fundación Scholas en Sotogrande Santa María Polo Club se sumó al All Star Polo Scholas Pope Charity Day y en el marco del 44º Torneo Internacional Land Rover de Polo disputó esta tarde, en la cancha 3 de Los Pinos, una exhibición benéfica extraordinaria por una causa solidaria: recaudar fondos para la Fundación Scholas Ocurrentes, promovida por el Papa Francisco I. El partido, disputado a 26 goles de handicap, enfrentó a Scholas Polo Team, integrado por Helie de Pourtales (0), David Stirling (10), Facundo Sola (8) y Pite Merlos (8) y Santa María Polo Team que contó con Kate Mc Kinney (0), Nicolás Pieres (9), Guillermo Terrera (8) e Ignacio Toccalino (9). El resultado, que queda para la estadística ya que

no fue lo más importante en una tarde solidaria de polo a la cual acudió una gran cantidad de espectadores, fue favorable a Scholas Polo Team por 7 a 6. La Fundación Scholas Ocurrentes nace en 2013 como entidad pública para promover una educación inclusiva universal en la que arte, tecnología y deporte fomenten la integración social y la cultura del encuentro. Desde entonces hasta hoy numerosas personalidades mundiales se han sumado a la causa. Esta jornada de polo en concreto, forma parte de All Star Polo, un circuito mundial de partidos de exhibición. Una interesante propuesta para disfrutar de un gran encuentro excepcional por la mejores de las causas.

The aim was to raise funds for the Scholas Ocurrentes Foundation that is supported by Pope Francisco I. The match, played with 26 handicap goals, brought together the Scholas Polo Team, made up of Helie de Pourtales (0), David Stirling (10), Facundo Sola (8) and Pite Merlos (8) and Santa María Polo Team, comprised of Kate Mc Kinney (0), Nicolás Pieres (9), Guillermo Terrera (8) and Ignacio Toccalino (9). The result went in favour of the Scholas Polo Team

The Scholas Ocurrentes Foundation was set up in 2013 as a public body to promote inclusive universal in which art, technology and sport are used as a way of encouraging social integration and a culture of social cohesion. Since then, several worldwide personalities have joined the cause. This specific day of polo was part of All Star Polo, a world circuit of exhibition matches. It is an interesting proposal allowing people to enjoy an exceptional gathering for a top cause.

Éxito de participación del Torneo de Golf de Santa María Polo en San Roque Club Éxito de participación del Torneo de Golf de Santa María Polo Club jugado bajo el espectacular trazado de San Roque Club. Aficionados, socios, y polistas se dieron cita en un campeonato que arrancó al tiro a las 9:30 de la mañana y que, tras entrar el último putt, contó con un cóctel previo a la entrega de trofeos. El premio al drive más largo se lo llevó Estanisla Domecq, mientras que la bola más cercana recayó en Javier Gersol Pérez-Angulo. En Scractch, José María Rodríguez se llevó el triunfo con 27 puntos. Asis Maestre con 40 puntos fue segundo en 2ª Categoría, a un punto del ganador Carlos Cueto. En 1ª Categoría, el segundo premio se lo adjudicó Calum Mcgregor con 35 puntos, a tres de la primera, Mercedes Duclos. Tras los premios, se realizó un sorteo de regalos entre los participantes. Formaron parte del torneo Luis Estrada y Joaquín Blanco, vicepresidentes de Santa María Polo Club, así como Enrique Mora Figueroa, organizador. Ignacio Mora Figueroa, Marcelo López Vargas, Juan José Alberdi, Daniel Boudon o Santiago Torreguitar fueron otros de los rostros conocidos del mundo del polo que se dieron cita en un deporte, el golf, que hace las delicias junto al polo en Sotogrande cada verano.

Successful level of participation in the Santa María Polo Golf Tournament at San Roque Club The Santa María Polo Golf Tournament played on the spectacular course at the San Roque Club course had a successful level of participation. El martes, 25 de agosto, el desarrollo de la cuarta etapa de la ronda española entre los municipios de Estepona y Vejer de la Frontera contó con un paso protagonista por el Valle del Guadiaro tras los primeros kilómetros tras la salida.

There was a festive atmosphere and lot of spectators who came to experience the Vuelta Ciclista a España passing through Pueblo Nuevo. On Tuesday 25 August, the fourth stage of the Spanish race between the municipalities of Estepona and Vejer de la Frontera had a section where Valle del Guadiaro took centre stage for the first few kilometres after the start point.

La XVI Regata Copa Sotogrande deja una edición para el recuerdo 1 Manuel Gil

El barco “Seawolf of Southampton” de David Latham, un Pronovia 38 con matrícula del RCM Sotogrande, se proclamó ganador de la XVI Copa Sotogrande en la clase crucero ORC, para quienes la cita era la penúltima prueba valedera para el Campeonato de Andalucía de Crucero ORC en la modalidad de Circuito. Un gran colofón que sella tres magníficas jornadas en el campo de regatas, con un viento de poniente cercano a las 15 nudos de medio. Espectacular edición la de este año. Tres pruebas y tres ganadores diferentes en la clase ORC dan cuenta de lo competido de la última jornada. El “Seawolf of Southampton” ganaba la segunda prueba del día, a la que llegó

con un 5º inicial, y cerró la jornada con un 3º, suficiente para ganar por la mínima de un punto sobre el First 40 “Hospitales Nisa Alkevir”, del CDN Punta Umbría. A dos puntos de la tripulación liderada por Ángel y Ramón Rodríguez, el tercer ocupante del podio es el X-35 “Estepona.com” del CN Estepona, ganador de la prueba inaugural y 4º en las otras dos. Además del ganador entre los Crucero ORC, con el autonómico en juego, la cita encumbró a los barcos “Tangay” de Jose Ramón Villalba (RCM Sotogrande), “Marbella Team” de Pepequín Orbaneja y Juan Luis Páez (RCM Marbella/CN Sevilla) y “Brabante” de Rafael Benjumeda (RCM Sotogrande) flamantes

vencedores en las clases Club, y monotipos J/80 y Tom28, respectivamente. Además, Borja Terry y Teresa Valenzuela se hicieron con el trofeo especial I Memorial Antonio Muñoz Cabrero, de catamaranes. Gran novedad de esta edición. La entrega de premios se llevó a cabo en el Mercado de Levante, de La Marina, con la colaboración de Sotogrande S.A.. En la misma, estuvieron presentes tanto Tatiana como Antonio Muñoz, hijos de Antonio Muñoz Cabrera, que agradecieron el gesto con su padre, tras su fallecimiento, de incluir en la regata en memoria de uno de los socios fundadores del Real Club Marítimo de Sotogrande y presidente de honor.

The 16th Copa Sotogrande was an edition to be remembered David Latham’s boat “Seawolf of Southampton”, a Pronovia 38 registered with RCM Sotogrande, was winner of the 16th Copa Sotogrande in the ORC cruising class, for whose participants the event was the penultimate heat counting towards the Andalusian ORC Cruiser Championship on the Circuit format. It was a great way to end three magnificent days of regattas, with a western wind of close to fifteen and a half knots. This year was a spectacular edition. Three events and three different winners in the ORC demonstrate how competitive the last day was. The “Seawolf of Southampton” won the second event of the day which it went into with an initial 5th place finish, and it closed out the day with a

3rd place, enough to get an extremely close one point win over the First 40 “Hospitales Nisa Alkevir”, from CDN Punta Umbría. Two points off the crew led by Ángel and Ramón Rodríguez, third place on the podium went to X-35 “Estepona.com” from CN Estepona, winner of the opening event and 4th in the other two. In addition to the winner of the ORC Cruiser category, with the regional championships at play, the event exalted the “Tangay” owned by Jose Ramón Villalba (RCM Sotogrande), “Marbella Team” owned by Pepequín Orbaneja and Juan Luis Páez (RCM Marbella/CN Sevilla) and “Brabante” skippered by Rafael Benjumeda (RCM Sotogrande) who were the new winners in the Club, J/80 monotypes

This tribute involves including a memorial event in the regatta for Antonio, who was one of the founding members of Sotogrande’s Royal Yacht Club and its honorary president.

La golfista guadiareña de SIGA Sotogrande, María Parra, ha logrado clasificarse para disputer la Ping Junior Solheim Cup 2015 (la Ryder Cup para jóvenes), con el combinado europeo femenino. La cita se disputa en el mes de septiembre (14 y 15), en el trazado alemán de St. Leon-Rot Golf Club, entre las selecciones de Europa y América. Parra, tras una temporada absolutamente brillante, logra sumar un total de 102,5 puntos lo que la sitúa en el segundo puesto del ránking que da acceso a las doce clasificadas para la disputa de la competición. Dicha clasificación se cerró el martes 18 de agosto, dejando los nombres de las doce europeas que formarán el combinado continental en la que es probablemente la mayor cita golfística innternacional para jóvenes. Almenara acoge un verano más el clásico de golf Padres e Hijos El clásico torneo veraniego entre Padres e Hijos de Almenara Golf Club tuvo lugar bajo un ambiente espectacular y una climatología óptima para practicar el deporte del golf. 36 parejas tomaron la salida a las 9:00 horas sobre un trazado espectacular como es el de Almenara. El torneo se jugó bajo la modalidad Texas Scramble parejas y tuvo en el dúo formado por Javier Roa y Yago Roa a los campeones con 48 puntos. En segundo lugar, acabaron Juan Castro y Mario Castro con 47 puntos, mientras que el podio lo completaron Julián López padre e hijo con 46 puntos. El premio a la bola más cercana fue para Juan Gich, mientras que el drive más largo lo realizó José Sainz Primo de Rivera. Numeroso público se reunió en la travesía anterior a la Av. Mar del Sur de Torreguadiaro (a su paso por la gasolinera), en ambas rotondas, aunque fue especialmente en Pueblo Nuevo donde mayor público

La carrera Xtreme Natural Tesorillo llega el próximo 6 de septiembre ✑ J. Sanz

San Martín del Tesorillo acoge el domingo 6 de septiembre la primera edición de la carrera de obstáculos Xtreme Natural Tesorillo. La carrera, la primera de este tipo que se celebra en la provincia de Cádiz, tiene un recorrido de 7,5 kilómetros. La salida de la carrera será a las 11:00 horas y la inscripción se puede realizar en la web de Dorsal

Chip con precio de 15 euros. El circuito presenta tres zonas. Por un lado, una zona urbana con tramos de desnivel y escaleras. Por otro lado, el río, por el que los atletas deberán correr una distancia de 1 kilómetros con altura del agua entre diez y cincuenta centímetros, con algún punto que llega a rozar el metro y medio de profundidad.

Por último, la zona trail, de 2,5 kilómetros, atraviesa carriles y monte con continuos ascensos. Hay zonas con obstáculos artiﬁciales donde superaras tus límites desde arrastrarte por el suelo, trepar por una soga, saltar fuego, y muchas sorpresas más. Al ﬁnalizar, habrá una paella para todos los participantes.

The 5th J80 Sailing Circuit, that is taking place once again in Sotogrande this year has announced its schedule and the dates of events to be held during the 2015/2016 season, beginning in October and running until June next year.
