Quedó atrás el verano, los intensos días de calor, las largas jornadas de playa y los ratitos de reunión, en plenas vacaciones, para disfrutar del polo o de noches de terrazas (afortunadamente estas últimas aún se mantiene algo más). Tras un exitoso verano, en la amplia mayoría de los aspectos, Sotogrande afronta un nuevo curso, en todos y cada uno de los ámbitos.

Ya poco vale vanagloriarse de lo bueno, positivo y beneficioso del verano, en el que muchos, gracias a un gran trabajo y esfuerzo previo, recogieron los frutos a sus apuestas e inversiones. De la mano del caminar de mochilas y entradas de colegio, también el sector empresarial comienza el nuevo año con deberes y tareas para la continuidad.

Summer is behind us, along with the intense sunny days, the long days on the beach and little gatherings, in the middle of the holidays, to enjoy polo or nights sitting in terraces (fortunately, the latter have not completely disappeared).

Following a successful summer, in almost every aspect, Sotogrande is facing a new year, in each and every sector.

Now, there is no real point in boasting about how good, positive and beneficial the summer was, during which many people, reaped the rewards for their commitment and investment thanks to hard work and prior efforts. Along the schoolbags and the return to school, the business sector is beginning the new year with its own homework and ongoing tasks.

The only way to maintain a good level of quality services with guarantees over time is with perseverance. Taking advantage of summer’s sweet aftertaste and the good feeling summer has left many of us with this year, is a way of providing motivation and drive to prepare for next year and even the last few remaining months of this one.

Providing more activity throughout the entire year and extending the calendar of productive periods is unfinished business in Sotogrande. We hope to achieve this in this unique “back to school” period for children and adults alike.

On the other hand, we would like to take the chance to dedicate a few lines to a group that are essential in this area where

sometimes the image is tarnished by the poor practices of very few people, who give an impression that does not correspond with the community of people living in this zone. The work of the Guardia Civil has been and is praiseworthy 365 days a year and proof of it is the recognition, probably not as much as deserved, that can be heard at any institution in the area.

On a day to day basis, the Guardia Civil overcome the difficulties faced by any unit (lack of staff or resources), and manage to overcome them with enormous dedication, effort and professionalism.

Congratulations, once again, for this great work, this summer and throughout the rest of the year. Also, during this period our newspapers (that are back to being published on a monthly basis), will celebrate their big day (12 October).

La labor de la Guardia Civil ha sido y es encomiable los 365 días del año y prueba de ello son los reconocimientos, probablemente pocos por méritos, que se pueden escuchar desde cualquier entidad de la zona.

Día a día superan sus dificultades a las que se enfrenta cualquier cuerpo (falta de personal o medios) , logrando suplirlas con una enorme dedicación, esfuerzo y profesionalidad. Enhorabuena, una vez más, por esa gran labor, tanto este verano como el resto del año. También, en este periodo entre nuestros periódicos (que regresa a sus intervalos mensuales), celebrará su día grande (el 12 de octubre).

¿Vuelta al ‘cole’? O la vuelta a una realidad mas sensata Atrás quedó un dulce verano que ha marcado unas claras directrices de cara al futuro. Ahora toca la ‘vuelta al cole’, al otoño calentito de la clase política y a un esperanzador futuro inmediato por los datos y consecuencias de la estación veraniega.

Una realidad muy sensata y de la que nos podemos sentir sumamente orgullosos, ya que por 1 José Luis García fin se ve luz al final del Editor/Director túnel. Sólo cabe indagar jlgarcia@grupohcp.com un poco en los resultados y los aspectos de nuestra zona. Fuerte oferta de ocio y que perfectamente ha sido asumida por la masiva afluencia de visitantes y residentes. Otros sectores importantes han revalorizado su aérea de influencia, tales como el sector inmobiliario y el de promoción. Tras consultar a las propias inmobiliarias ubicadas en nuestro territorio, al margen de los beneficios obtenidos por la división alquileres, son varias las que

manifiestan que obtuvieron ventas, y lo mejor, que continúan en esa tendencia cerrando nuevas operaciones.

Por otra parte, en las últimas semanas, estando disfrutando del golf en nuestros magníficos recorridos, al menos en dos de ellos, he comprobado como el silencio habitual era suspendido por el ruido de las inmensas grúas actuando en plenas obras. Todo un indicio de que aparecen nuevas demandas urbanísticas, cuestión que hace indicar que el parque de propiedades actuales se va digiriendo poco a poco, aunque no quita que las últimas actuaciones antes de la crisis fueron algo fuera de lugar y muchas sin sentidos, lo que hará difícil que el mercado las absorba. De todas formas, también es significativo que los despachos de arquitectura tengan una buena cantidad de proyectos encima de la mesa y esto se viene a traducir que la maquinaria esta en marcha: arquitecto – inversor - constructor – promotor – inmobiliaria – nuevo cliente. Esperemos que con lo vivido, esto se lleve a cabo con más cerebro que con las ansias de generar riquezas de la noche a la mañana.

Desde Grupo HCP, como cada otoño, estamos definiendo los parámetros del clásico Foro Empresarial, nacido en los años duros de la crisis, y que en este año cumplimos la séptima edición. El fondo de la cuestión es obvio, girará entorno al crecimiento de la demanda, así como sus particularidades y los nuevos retos para satisfacer las exigencias de los nuevos solicitantes que se centran cada vez mas en detalles de calidad garantizada y la máxima sofisticación

de los nuevos conceptos en domóticas. En la próxima edición de octubre, plantearemos los requisitos para poder asistir, así como presentaremos la agenda del tradicional evento.

La única salvedad a todas estas noticias de gran calado para la economía de la zona, es indudablemente el calendario político, que con las elecciones catalanas inminentes y con las nacionales, que este año puede que se nos atragante el turrón por la proximidad con el periodo festivo navideño, nos ralentizará ante los ojos de las grandes potencias internacionales, con lo que conlleva esto para continuar con la aparición de nuevas inversiones y llegada de gran capital a nuestro país.

Por ello, la recomendación es mantener la prudencia y sensatez, y me refiero al pasar ante las urnas, porque ahora que empezamos a sacar la cabeza y empezar a respirar, no nos dejemos embaucar por políticas bananeras y promesas de salva patrias, estos deberían pensar que España es una gran nación perteneciente a la Unión Europea y con una gran capacidad de imaginación para salir adelante con seriedad y compromiso. Es hora de pensar a lo grande, podemos seguir creciendo siendo solidarios y generando riquezas. Vivir en España es emocionante y muy atractivo. Disfruten del mejor lugar del planeta. Y si además eliges Sotogrande, te ganaste el cielo.

Back to school? Or back to a more sensible reality We have left behind a sweet summer that has provided some clear directions to take in the future. Now it time to head “back to school”, to an autumn that will have a little heat for the political class and an immediate promising future due to the figures and consequences of the summer season. This is a sensible reality, and one that we can all feel very proud of, as at last we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. You just need to inspect the results and the appearance of the area a little. There is a large range of leisure activities and it was warmly received by the massive crowds of visitors and residents too. Other sectors such as property and developed have also recovered in terms of influence. After consulting property agents in the area, aside from the profits made from rental, many agents state that they had sales and best of all, the trend is continuing as they close out new deals.

On the other hand, over the last few weeks, enjoying golf out on our magnificent courses, at least two of them, I noticed how the typical silence was interrupted by the noise of immense cranes in the middle of construction work. This is a real indicator that there is new demand in the urban construction sector, this seems to indicate that the current property market is gradually heading in the right direction.

However, this does not take away from the fact that much of the building before the crisis was somewhat out of place and often senseless, making it difficult for such building work to be absorbed into the market. In any case, it is also significant that architecture offices have a good amount of projects on the table and this means that machinery is up and running: architect – investor – builder – promotor – property – new client. We hope that following previous experience, this will be carried out in a sensible way, rather than with a hope of getting rich overnight.

At Grupo HCP, like every autumn, we are setting out the characteristics of the classic Company Forum, created during the difficult years of the crisis, and this year is the seventh edition. The basic issue is obvious; the event will revolve around the growth in demand, as well as the particularities and the new challenges in order to satisfy demand from new customers that are increasingly focused on details that guarantee quality and optimum sophistication in terms of new home automation systems. In the next edition in October, we will set out the requirements for attending the events, and we will also present the event’s traditional schedule.

The only reservation following all of this great and impor-

tant news for the area’s economy is undoubtedly the political calendar. Catalonia’s elections are just round the corner, and the national elections, that may have us choking on our turrón this year due to their proximity to Christmas, will slow down things in terms of the big international powers. This will have consequences when it comes to finding new investment and attracting a lot of capital to Spain.

Therefore, it is advisable to maintain caution and good sense, and I am referring to voting. Now that we are beginning to lift our heads and starting to breathe again, let us not be fooled by backward policies and promises to save the country. Politicians should believe that Spain is a great nation that belongs to the European Union and it has a lot of imagination in order to move forwards in a serious and committed fashion.

It is time to think big, we can continue to grow by working together and generating wealth. Living in Spain is exciting and has a lot of appeal. Enjoy the best place on earth, and if you also choose Sotogrande, well then you are in heaven.

Se celebra la primera reunión de la comisión de estudio sobre las competencias de agua y basura El objetivo es estudiar la mejor formula, en precio y servicio, para la recogida de basuras y el abastecimiento de agua en el municipio

Se llevó a cabo la primera reunión para la composición de la comisión de estudio para determiner el mejor servicio para la prestación del servicio de agua y basura en el municipio. A través de esta comisión el Ayuntamiento de San Roque estudiará si asume la recogida de basuras y el abastecimiento de agua o cual es la fórmula mejor para prestar estos servicios en el Municipio.

El alcalde de San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, presidió la primera reunión de la comisión donde se ha realizado una puesta en común de toda la información que se ha ido recopilando durante este mes, de la

que ha entregado Arcgisa y de otra que se ha recopilado por parte del Consistorio.

El alcalde especifició que esta comisión va a tener una reunión semanal, con el fin de acertar en la forma más adecuada para la prestación de estos dos servicios que son vitales para los ciudadanos.

El objetivo es prestar un servicio de mayor calidad y con un menor precio, y entiende que los ciudadanos vienen demandando desde hace tiempo un abaratamiento de la tarifa del precio del agua y además desde el Ayuntamiento notaban ciertas dificultades en la prestación de los servicios.

Seis altos funcionarios del Ayuntamiento componen la Comisión de Estudio encargada de elaborar una memoria relativa a los posibles modos de gestión de los referidos servicios. En dicha Comisión no se incluye a ningún político.

La comisión seguirá recopilando datos a través de la Mancomunidad de Municipios del Campo de Gibraltar y de la Sociedad Pública Argisa.

The first meeting to set up the study committee to determine the best service for the provision of water and waste in the municipality has taken place. Using this committee, the Council of San Roque will study whether it provides the waste collection and water supply services or what is the best way of providing these services in the Municipality.

The mayor of San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, took charge of the committee first meeting where there was an exchange of all of the information that has been collected this month.

This information was collected by Arcgisa and another report was compiled by the Council.

The mayor specified that the committee will meet once a week, in order to agree on the

best way of providing these services that are essential for citizens.

The aim is to provide a better quality service at a reduced price. For some time now, citizens have been calling for a reduction in the price of water, and also the Council noted that there were some difficulties with the provision of services.

Six high ranking officials from the Town Council comprise the Study Commission set up to create a report relating to the possible means of managing the abovementioned services. The Committee does not include any politicians.

The committee will continue to compile data through the Campo de Gibraltar Association of Municipalities and the Company Arcgisa.

La cita, que este año cumple su séptima edición, está

prevista para el próximo diez de noviembre. En esta ocasión, el encuentro girará en torno a la nueva situación económica que vive Sotogrande en todos sus ámbitos y las perspectivas que se dibujan de cara a un futuro próximo. Todos los detalles, no obstante, serán desarrollados por el equipo

Balance positivo, de la temporada de salvamento en playas en la zona El Consistorio valora saldar el verano sin víctimas mortales y adelanta que estudia comenzar este servicio antes del mes de Julio, el próximo verano. La mayoría de las incidencias: insolaciones, heridas leves y cortes ✑ M. Gil

La temporada de playas 2015 se desarrolló entre el 1 de julo y el 6 de septiembre, y el servicio de vigilancia y socorrismo estuvo a cargo de la empresa Socoservis. El Consistorio sanroqueño ha adelantado que estudia ampliar el tiempo de este servicio de Playas de cara al verano 2016, pudiendo comenzarse antes del mes de julio.

La delegada de Seguridad Ciudadana, Mercedes Serrano, ha realizado un positivo balance de la temporada de playas, en lo que al servicio de salvamento y socorrismo se refiere, ya que el verano se ha saldado sin que “tengamos que lamentar ninguna victima mortal”.

Serrano señaló que el verano “se ha caracterizado por

la tranquilidad con la que ha transcurrido, a pesar de la elevada afluencia de bañistas y visitantes a nuestras playas y por el ondeo en la mayoría de los días de la bandera verde”. Por lo que respecta a las actuaciones realizadas por los socorristas, “han estado relacionadas mayoritariamente con ayudas a bañistas por diversas causas, como las asistencias en tierra por insolaciones, heridas, picaduras, contacto con medusas, contusiones leves, etc., habiéndose atendido a centenares de personas y siendo resueltas prácticamente todas en el momento”.

Serrano highlighted the fact that the “bathing chair adapted for disabled people continues to be a highly sought-after service not only for the residents and tourists in San Roque but also for disabled people in other nearby areas that do not have this type of Bathing Service for Disabled People on their beaches”.

La Entidad refuerza el cerramiento de la Urbanización Encinar 1 Redacción

Tras el incendio producido el 12 de junio en las inmediaciones de la urbanización El Encinar, junto a la carretera de Arenillas, la EUC ha realizado la limpieza de la zona eliminando toda

la vegetación quemada o susceptible de serlo a corto plazo.

Tras la limpieza y desbroce se ha reforzado el cerramiento mediante un nuevo vallado impidiendo el acceso a la urbani-

zación y mejorando de ese modo su seguridad.

Las Redes Sociales se convierten en el nuevo buzón de denuncias y sugerencias Los nuevos canales de comunicación concentran las reclamaciones y demandas de vecinos y residentes en el Valle del Guadiaro.

En muchos de los casos, reciben respuesta por parte de las administraciones a través del mismo formato ✑ Manuel Gil

Ya hace tiempo que los canales de comunicación e información tradicionales (cartas, escritos presentados, revelado de fotografías…) fueron siendo sustituidos, en base a las nuevas tecnologías, por otros innovadores y de mayor repercusión formatos y modelos de difusión. En la actualidad, gran parte de lo que pasa o se denuncia se lleva a cabo a través de las conocidas Redes Sociales; en su mayoría vía Facebook, Twitter o Instagram.

Son precisamente los dos primeros los que han desarrollado una vertiente muy utilizada en los últimos tiempos por parte de vecinos y residentes del Valle del Guadiaro y Sotogrande para exponer o reclamar ciertas mejoras o aspectos que preocupan al ciudadano y ponerlas en conocimiento de las administraciones, que indudablemente, también se encuentran muy pendientes a todo lo que ocurre en estos canales de información.

Conocidas páginas de la zona como son: “San Roque Denuncia”, “El Valle denuncia”, “El Valle denuncia e informa” ó, con mayor trayectoria, la plata-

forma “Defensa Ciudadana Activa” (a través de su blog y canales en RR.SS.); llevan a cabo esta labor de difusión y conocimiento de diferentes aspectos que preocupan a los vecinos de la zona.

Zonas ajardinadas descuidadas, pasos de cebra peligrosamente señalizados, carreteras en mal estado o denuncias de todo tipo copan estos importantes, para el conocimiento del resto de la comunidad, y ya bien implantados canales de difusión. Destacar que no son pocos los casos en los que res-

ponsables de diferentes administraciones comentan incluso dichas publicaciones argumentando una razón u otra; o bien dando por conocidas las sugerencias de los vecinos.

Sin duda, una constante asamblea vecinal que expone públicamente sus inquietudes para ponerlas en conocimiento de aquellas personas a las que influye. Así como un rápido método para divulgar una situación que preocupa a ciertos sectores de la comunidad.

Se han convertido en muchos de los casos en referentes, cara a los trabajos de día a día en servicios y mantenimientos.

Mucho más sencillo, rápido y eficaz que tratar de contactar con una administración de manera tradicional (la cual sigue siendo cauce oficial). Una buena iniciativa que ha tenido gran acogida por parte de los vecinos y que ayuda a informar de temas necesarios en el día a día.

Social Networks have become new complaints and suggestions box The new communication channels are the main source of complaints and requests from locals and residents in Valle del Guadiaro. In many cases, responses are made by the administration bodies through the same format It has been a while now since traditional communication and information channels (letters, written statements, photograph developing…) have been replaced by new technology, with other innovative formats that have a greater impact and are more widespread. Currently, a large part of what events as well as complaints are published on well-known social networks, mainly Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The first two in particular have been widely used lately by locals and residents in Guadiaro and Sotogrande, in order to request the need for improvements, or discuss issues of concern to the public and make local government bodies aware of them. Undoubtedly, the latter pay close attention to everything that goes on in these information channels.

Well-known pages in the area such as: “San Roque Complaints”, “El Valle Complaints”, “El Valle Complaints and Information”, or a longer running example the “Defence of Active Citizens” through their blog and channels in Sotogrande Magazine), carry out the work of spreading and providing information about different aspects that are of concern to residents in the area.

Untended landscaped areas, zebra crossings that are dan-

gerously signposted, roads that are in poor condition and all kinds of complaints are key issues that the rest of the community is informed about using these now well-established channels for spreading information. It is worth highlighting that there have been a significant number of cases where people responsible for the different administrations have responded to these publications arguing one thing or another, or publicly acknowledging the suggestions of residents.

Without doubt, this is like a constant neighbourhood meeting that publicly airs its concerns, in order to make them known to people that residents have influence on. It is also a quick means of spreading word about any situations that concern certain sectors of the community.

In many cases these social networks have become reference points for approaching the day to work of services and maintenance. They are much more simple, quick and efficiency than trying to connect with an administration via traditional means (which is still the official channel of communication).

This is a good initiative that has been warmly welcomed by the residents, and one that helps to offer information about necessary day to day matters.

El ex ministro de Exteriores socialista Miguel Ángel Moratinos defendido, en su conferencia celebrada en San Roque Club, la reanudación del diálogo para avanzar en la cooperación con Gibraltar partiendo de los acuerdos de Córdoba de 2006, sin que por ello España deba renunciar a su reivindicación de soberanía del Peñón. En este sentido, esbozó algunas soluciones novedosas, como una policía conjunta para combatir el narcotráfico en la Bahía. Moratinos ofreció una conferencia-coloquio en San Roque Club, en un acto organizado

por el Ayuntamiento de San Roque, la Diputación de Cádiz y el Gobierno de Gibraltar.

La conferencia del diplomático, ex ministro y ex diputado socialista tenía por título “Dimensión

estratégica y cooperación: Campo de Gibraltar/Gibraltar”. En la mesa presidencial se sentaron, además de Moratinos, el alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, la presidenta de la Diputación de Cádiz, Irene García, y el ministro principal de Gibraltar, Fabian Picardo.

Moratinos se refirió a la seguridad. Indicó que estas aguas en conflicto “permiten escapar a los narcotraficantes”, y habló de la opción de una policía conjunta española y gibraltareña. Además, defendió la creación de “una nueva dinámica de diálogo y cooperación”, aunque “no estaremos

de acuerdo en muchos puntos”.

Por su parte, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boiz, alcalde de San Roque habló de la cooperación entre todos los protagonistas, principalmente, centrados en la creación de empleo, una de las grandes demandas de la zona. El ministro principal de Gibraltar, Fabián Picardo, dijo que su gobierno quiere “renegociar” algunos de los puntos de los Acuerdos de Córdoba, pero no derogarlos ni romper el foro de diálogo, “seguiremos apostando porque se reúna de nuevo el Foro Tripartito”.

Informe Comienza el curso en el Valle del Guadiaro con una comunidad educativa de más de 2.000 escolares • El calendario lectivo se inicia con total normalidad para los más de 1.700 alumnos que acogen los centros de la zona • El Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande es el más madrugador, seguido de los ciclos de Infantil y Primaria; Secundaria, los últimos • La comunidad educativa en la zona crece respecto al año 2014 en más de 200 alumnos • El coste medio para las familias, según criterios de cada centro, es de unos 200 euros por alumno 1 Manuel Gil

Mochilas nuevas, estuches a estrenar y lápices perfectamente preparados. Reencuentros, saludos y algún que otro llanto de los primerizos o de aquellos que se resisten a aceptar el fin del verano. Más de 2.000 alumnos han comenzado el curso escolar 2015/2016 en el Valle del Guadiaro, con un inicio en el que la normalidad fue la tónica dominante y que supone un incremento de alumnos respecto al curso pasado. De la comunidad educativa en el Valle del Guadiaro (más de 2.000), 1.722 de ellos lo harán en los diferentes centros de la zona, lo que supone un aumento respecto al pasado curso (1.500).

El más madrugador y el primero en comenzar el año escolar fue el Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande. Los 720 matriculados con los que cuenta este año comenzaron las clases el 1 de septiembre, en un nuevo año lleno de objetivos y metas en uno de los centros de referencia a nivel autonómico. Destacar que de

este total de alumnos se encuentran chicos hasta de 45 nacionalidades diferentes, en el que el valor de la cultura, respeto pluralidad hacen del centro uno de los mejores escenarios para la educación de los escolares.

Resaltar también, como novedad en este curso, un nuevo edificio dedicado a las clases de arte; así como la reforma de un edificio completo destinado a las aulas de idiomas y oficinas. Además, en pocas semanas, estará disponible un nuevo espacio en la zona de la piscina que será un área de encuentro para alumnos de diploma.

También madrugadores fueron los más pequeños, a nivel municipal en el Valle del Guadiaro, de la Escuela Infantil Puente de Hierro, que este año cuenta con un total 41 plazas.

El 10 de septiembre tocó colgarse la mochila y emprender de nuevo el camino hasta el colegio (muchos de estos lo hacen a través del servicio de autobuses que facilitan ambos centros), los

alumnos de Infantil y Primaria, concretamente en el CEIP Barbésula de San Enrique de Guadiaro y el CEIP Gloria Fuertes (en sus dos sedes, Pueblo Nuevo y Guadiaro). Un volumen de alumno que suman entre ambos, superior a los 700 escolares.

El CEIP Barbésula acoge este curso a 123 alumnos, distribuidos en sus nueve cursos. Quedaría repartidos en: Infantil de 3 años (16), Infantil de 4 años (11), Infantil de 5 años (19), Primero de Primaria (8), Segundo de Primaria (11), Tercero de Primaria (10, Cuarto de Primaria (17), Quinto de Primaria (17) y Sexto de Primaria (14).

Por su parte, el CEIP Gloria Fuertes acoge a un total de 570 alumnos, destacar que este año también se convierte en centro

La Caixa reparte 365 kits escolares para familias de San Roque La Obra Social La Caixa realizó la entrega al Ayuntamiento de 365 kits escolares, que irán dirigidos a familias en riesgo de exclusión social del municipio con hijos escolarizados en educación primaria y secundaria. El objetivo de esta acción social es paliar los gastos iniciales del comienzo del curso escolar.

El alcalde de San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, y el director de Área de Negocios de CaixaBank en Tarifa y San Roque, David Linares, presentaron campaña “Me Gusta Aprender” por la que se aportan 365 kits. El objetivo que persigue esta iniciativa es facilitar a esas familias los elementos y útiles necesarios para que ningún escolar vea limitado su desarrollo académico por la falta de recursos de su familia.

Material tan básico como el que se proporciona, a muchas familias les ayuda a salvar el escollo económico que representa su adquisición y que requieren sus hijos para acudir a las aulas. La Caixa apuesta, una vez más, por renovar su compromiso social ofreciendo apoyo a miles de proyectos solidarios que pretenden dar respuesta a las necesidades emergentes.

La media de alumnos por clase ronda los 25 pupitres.

Los más mayores, que acuden al Instituto de Escuela Secundaria Sierra Almenara, comenzaron el curso el 15 de septiembre, siendo los últimos en incorporarse. El centro tiene matriculados hasta el momento 268 alumnos aunque aún podrían incorporarse alguno más. Repartidos entre: Primero de ESO (71), Segundo de ESO (59), Tercero de ESO (69) y Cuarto de ESO (69).

A todos ellos habría que sumarles el cupo de alumnos que pasan a San Roque Casco, tras ingresar en los cursos de Bachillerato.

También, aquellos escolares de la zona que cursan el año en diferentes centros privados cercanos al Valle del Guadiaro. Como es el caso de los centros de Montecalpe y Puertoblanco en Algeciras, con más de 100 alumnos de esta zona; el centenar de alumnos que parte desde el Valle del Guadiaro al Colegio Loreto de Gibraltar; y algo más de medio centenar que acude al Colegio San José de Estepona.

Según diversos informes, cada familia, según centro, cuenta con un gasto medio cercano a los 200 euros por cada alumnos: entre materiales, libros, útiles y uniforme o ropa destinada al colegio.

The earliest starter, and first to begin the school year was Sotogrande International School. The youngest pupils were also early starters, at a municipal level in Valle del Guadiaro, at Puente Hierro, which has a total of 41 places this year.

On the 10 September it was the turn of Preschool and Primary pupils, to put on their schoolbags and begin the journey to school (many of these pupils use the bus service provided). Specifically, we are talking about the pupils at CEIP Barbésula in San Enrique de Guadiaro and CEIP Gloria Fuertes (at both its venues, Pueblo Nuevo and Guadiaro). Together, these

schools have more than 700 pupils.

CEIP Gloria Fuertes has a total of 570 pupils enrolled and it is worth noting that this year it has also become a specialised language school that will provide classes for different levels of the Trinity exams. The school is compri-

sed of three lines from Preschool for 3 year olds up until Year 4 of Primary School. In Year 5 and 6 there are two. In total there are 16 Primary and 9 Preschool classes.

There is an average of 25 pupils in each class.

The older pupils that attend the Sierra Almenara Secondary School began the school year on 15 September and were the last to return. The school currently has 268 pupils enrolled although a few more could join yet. The pupils are divided among: ESO First Cycle Pupils (71), ESO Second Cycle (59), ESO Third Cycle (69) and ESO Fourth Cycle (69).

In addition to all of them, there is also the quota of pupils who go on to San Roque Casco after enrolling for Baccalaureate classes.

There are also school pupils in the area that take the year’s classes in different private schools not far from Valle del Guadiaro. This is the case with the Montecalpe and Puertoblanco schools in Algeciras that have more than 100 pupils from this area. Also, about one hundred pupils travel from Valle del Guadiaro to the Loreto School in Gibraltar and just over fifty attend the San José School in Estepona.

According to different reports, and depending on the school in question, each family spends around 200 euros on each pupil, for products, books, stationery and uniform or school clothing.

La Caixa gives away 365 school kits to families in San Roque La Caixa’s Social Work division has given the Council 365 school kits and they will be donated to families in the municipality with children in primary and secondary education that are at risk of social exclusion. The aim of this scheme is to lessen the blow of initial costs at the start of the school year.

The mayor of San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, and David Linares, director of Caixa Bank’s Business Division in Tarifa and San Roque presented the “I Like Learning” campaign which is contributing 365 kits.

The goal of the initiative is to provide those families with resources and necessary tools so that no school pupils are limited in terms of academic development because of their family’s lack of resources. Basic resources such as those provided to many families help them to overcome the economic barrier of obtaining materials that their children need to head back to school.

Once again, La Caixa is committed to renewing its social commitment by offering support to thousands of charity projects that aim to offer a response to emerging needs.

“En política hay que trabajar mucho, no es sólo dar directrices” 1 Manuel Gil

Sonriente y amable, como es, llega al punto de encuentro.

Un lugar que le es conocido y en el que se siente a gusto. Y aunque el cargo no es precisamente corto en competencias (Teniente de Alcalde del Valle del Guadiaro, delegado de RR HH, Secretaría, Contratación y Patrimonio, Estadística y Registro, Asesoría Jurídica y Nuevas Tecnologías), denota ilusión y ganas por acometer este reto. Asegura que los toros no se ven igual desde un lado y otro del callejón y que le preocupa el futuro de su gente: Óscar Ledesma.

Primer peaje, el balance de los 100 días iniciales de la legislatura, ¿qué impresión tiene de todo esto?

La de una ilusión convertida en realidad. La política es algo que siempre he tenido en mente, me gusta involucrarme por el bien de la gente y preocuparme por el futuro. Era una de mis inquietudes; personalmente siempre he estado involucrado en diferentes colectivos y se presentó la ocasión. Lo que sí es cierto es que desde dentro impresiona, es más de lo que uno cree.

En este tiempo, habrá visto también cosas que no le gustan de la política..

Por supuesto, muchas. En especial, la burocracia. Cosas que parecen muy sencillas cuestan mucho. En ocasiones, prima la política en la gestión y eso es algo con lo que no se puede es-

tar de acuerdo. ¿Cómo se llega a la primera línea de la política? ¿Cómo fue el proceso?

Por esa inquietud. Me vinculé al PIVG, de manera un tanto particular, ya que no asumo la idea de la independencia, una premisa que creo ya que está obsoleta, pero simpatizaba en otros aspectos. El partido comenzó a ir a la deriva, en mi opinión, y ciertas discrepancias con la dirección me llevaron a la decisión de irme al partido [PSOE] con el que siempre me he identificado más. Ser una persona activa en muchos colectivos (entidades deportivas, comisión de fiestas,…) te da cierto aval para que un partido cuente contigo.

Encima, responsable del Valle del Guadiaro, ¿qué le dicen por la calle los vecinos? ¿Y su familia y amigos?

Me piden de todo (bromea).

Principalmente trabajo y limpieza. Ellos han confiado en mí y eso te lleva a tener una mayor responsabilidad. Aunque resul-

ta curioso los que más me exigen son mis amigos. Se ven las cosas muy diferentes cuando uno está de un lado de la barrera y del otro. ¿Está contento?

Sí, es más de lo que me esperaba. El sentimiento de responsabilidad es inmenso.

Una mayoría absoluta da margen suficiente para actuaciones sin contar con el apoyo de otros grupos…la expectativa es mayor Sí, al ser más alta la expectativa aumenta la responsabilidad. Aunque también diré que desde la figura de Juan Carlos [Ruiz Boix], como el resto del equipo de gobierno, estamos tratando de tener el mayor consenso posible con todos los grupos. Mucha veces es imposible, está el “no” por sistema, pero se intenta. Hay cuestiones en las que deberíamos estar todos de acuerdo, como en el PGOU. Su comienzo coincidió con el del verano…

El verano tiene muchos focos.

El Valle del Guadiaro duplica o triplica su población y eso requiere mucha más atención y servicios. Seguridad, playas, eventos que mueven mucha gente…aunque duro ha sido un verano muy positivo.

Los problemas endémicos continúan: aparcamientos,….

De momento tienen muy difícil solución. Torreguadiaro cuenta con una población emergente, no sólo en verano, todos los fines de semana y arrastra un auténtico problema de aparcamiento; el problema es que no tenemos zonas. Por ello es importante sacar adelante el PGOU.

Asistimos a la inauguración del Polideportivo de Pueblo Nuevo, ¿cuándo estará completamente activo?

El procedimiento para la urbanización exterior estará listo para mediados o finales de octubre y se iniciarán las obras.

Aunque desde el 15 de septiembre se encuentran disponibles las zonas ya habilitadas.

Su vinculación con el fútbol y el CD Guadiaro no se puede negar, ¿cuándo estará finalizado el césped sintético en La Unión?

Gran pregunta y gran pro-

blema. Sé lo que significa el campo para el club, el esfuerzo que está haciendo en todos los sentidos (dinero, reubicar a más de 150 niños de la escuela), pero ha sido problema tras problema. El principal: se empezó tarde por el proceso burocrático. Además, como en cada obra, aparecen trabas. Ese campo se construyó con la buena voluntad de los vecinos pero hoy debe cumplir ciertas reglamentaciones, espacios…nos encontramos con un desnivel en el terreno de juego que hubo que arreglar. Hay que tener un poco de paciencia y pensar que es una solución para 15/20 años. En principio, hay una fecha de finalización de la obra fijada para el 7 de octubre.

Comparte competencias con el antiguo edil, hoy coordinador municipal en la zona, Juan Roca, ¿cómo se compaginan?

A todos los efectos, el teniente de alcalde del Valle del Guadiaro soy yo. Pero también soy encargado de otras concejalías y no le puedo dedicar todo el tiempo que necesita. En política hay que trabajar mucho y no sólo es dar directrices. Por ello, Juan Roca lleva a cabo ese trabajo más a pie de calle. Está en permanente contacto con todas las entidades de la zona, la gente…y se encarga de coordinar aquellas actuaciones que se toman para el Valle. Éstas son consensuadas siempre. Además, cuenta con una experiencia que queremos aprovechar.

No lo es, suena más a hipocresía. Se habla de un cargo de confianza, algo que es legal y que no debe sorprender a nadie, cuando en otro tiempo ha habido hasta siete en este Ayuntamiento. Hay muchos comentarios que no proceden; si en el anterior mandato ejercía [Juan Roca] en esta concejalía no entiendo que se dude de su valía ahora.

¿Recuperará el Consistorio las competencias en agua y basura?

Se va a estudiar la viabilidad.

A través de Emadesa podemos asumir esa gestión. El problema es la contratación de personal con la Ley de Presupuestos.

Tenemos que hacerlo a través de ofertas públicas de empleo, con las plazas que se amortizan, con unos límites…pero nos vemos muy encorsetados.

Al fin y al cabo, se va a estudiar la fórmula que más beneficie al ciudadano.

Este verano nos hemos encontrado con comunidades de propietarios que colocan sus propias barreras dentro del Puerto. Legalmente no tiene mucho sentido, aquellas ubicadas en accesos a las playas pueden ser un peligro. Si necesita entrar socorrismo, una ambulancia…o una persona con movilidad reducida no puede hacerlo. No soy partidario de

esas barreras ni cadenas. Son obstáculos. ¿Qué otros temas le preocupan?

Me preocupan muchas cosas.

Principalmente la falta de contratación y no poder dar un servicio de limpieza diaria. No tenemos los mejores medios materiales. Vamos muy poco a poco en ese sentido. También me preocupa la Seguridad, me gustaría contar con más puestos en la zona y patrullas permanentes.

Me gustaría seguir vinculado a la política, soy ambicioso y quiero continuar. Crecer políticamente es algo a lo que no cierro puertas. Y espero que sea por el resultado de una buena gestión y por contar con el apoyo de la gente.

He arrives on time to the meeting, smiling and friendly, the way he is. This is a place where he is known and where he feels at ease. Although he is not exactly lacking responsibilities (Deputy Mayor of Valle del Guadiaro, delegate for Human Resources, the Secretary’s Office, Hiring and Assets, Statistics and Registry, Legal Consultation and New Technologies), he shows his excitement and enthusiasm to undertake this challenge. He states that things look differently on this side of the fence and that he is worried about the future of his people: he is Óscar Ledesma.

You have reached the first milestone, what is your assessment of the first 100 days of your legislature, what are your thoughts about it all?

It is excitement that has become reality. Politics is something that

I have also thought about, I like to get involved for the benefit of people and show care about the future. That was one of my concerns; on a personal level, I have always been involved in different collectives and the chance presented itself. The fact is that from the inside it is impressive; there is more to it than you believe.

During this time, you will also have seen things that you do not like about politics…

Of course, lots, especially bureaucracy. Thinks that seem very simple take a lot of work. Sometimes, management takes charge of policy and that is something that you cannot agree with.

How did you reach the frontline of politics? What was the process?

Due to the concern I had. I joined

the PIVG, in a very unusual way, as I do not believe in the idea of independence, I believe it is an obsolete premise, however I sympathised with other aspects.

The party started to move in the wrong direction, in my opinion, and certain differences with the managed led me to join the party [PSOE] with which I have always most identified. Being an active person in lots of groups (sports bodies, festival committees…) gives you a certain backing for a party choose you.

Although, I will also say that Juan Carlos [Ruiz Boix], as well as the rest of the government team, we are trying to have the largest possible consensus among all of the groups. Often it is impossible, the “no” is there because of politics, but we try.

Also, you are in charge of Valle del Guadiaro, what do residents say to you in the street? What about your family and friends?

They ask me to do everything (joking). They mainly ask about work and cleaning. They have placed their trust in me and that gives you greater responsibility.

Although it seems strange, my friends are the ones who demand the most from me. Thinks look very different on this side of the fence.

Your start coincided with the arrival of summer…

Summer has a lot of focuses. The population of Valle del Guadiaro doubles or triples in terms of population and that requires a lot more services. Security, beaches, events involving a lot of people…although difficult it has been a very positive summer.

The endemic problems continue: parking…

At the moment they are very

difficult to solve. Torreguadiaro has a bulging population, not only in summer but every weekend, and it causes a real parking issue: the problem is that we do not have areas. Therefore it is very important that we make progress with the PGOU. We attended the opening of the Pueblo Nuevo Sports Centre, when will it be completely up and running?

Proceedings for the outside facilities are due to be ready by the middle or end of October and construction work will begin.

Although from 15 September, the zones that have already been fitted out will be available.

Your links to football and CD Guadiaro are undeniable, when will the artificial pitch at La Unión?

It is a big question and a big problem. I know what the pitch means for the club, the effort that they have been making in all areas (money, relocating more than 150 children from the school), but it has been problem after problem. The main issue was the late start due to bureaucracy. Also, as in every construction project, obstacles emerge.

For all effects and purposes, I am the deputy mayor of Valle del Guadiaro. However, I am also in charge of other posts and cannot dedicate as much time to the

role as required. In politics, there is a lot of work to do; it is not just about providing guideline.

Therefore, Juan Roca carries out work at more of a street level.

He is permanent contact with all of the institutions in the area, the people…and he is in charge of coordinating action that is carried out in the Valle. This work is always agreed to by consensus. Furthermore, he has experience that we want to make the most of.

The opposition criticise supposed double jobbing…

That is not the case, it sounds more like hypocrisy. It is a position of trust, something that is legal and which should not surprise anyone when at another

Specifically, one of the main critics of the governmental team is in the area, the PIVG representative, Jesús Mayoral…

The work carried out by Jesús Mayoral when he was part of the government team was magnificent, in collaboration with the rest of the team members that formed part of the management team. However, there are defeats

Will the council regain responsibility for water and waste?

We are going to look at the viability of this. Using Emadesa we can take on this management.

The problem is hiring staff with the Budget Law. We have to do it with public job offers, with vacancies that depreciate, with limits…however, we are very restricted. At the end of the day, we are going to study the formula that most benefits for the public.

What do you think about certain barriers present in Sotogrande?

This summer we have found that there are communities of property owners that put up their own barriers in the Port area. Legally, this does not make much sense, and barriers located at beach access points can be dangerous.

If lifeguards, or an ambulance need to enter…or what if someone with reduced mobility cannot get it. I am not in favour of these

barriers or chains. They are obstacles.

What other issues worry you?

I am worried about a lot of things, mainly the lack of hiring and not being able to provide a daily cleaning service. We do not have the best material resources.

We are making progress little by little in that regard. I am also concerned by security; I would like to have more security points in the area and permanent patrols.

I would like to retain my links with politics, I am ambitious and want to continue, I would not rule out the possibility of growing politically, and I hope that comes as a result of good management and due to the support of the public.

Sotogrande disfruta de un verano muy positivo en ocupación y servicios

• Los niveles de ocupación el sector hostelero alcanzan una media del 85% • Un fuerte mes de julio hace que la temporada sea notable para lo sectores turísticos • Los torneos sociales y competiciones deportivas, grandes atractivos de la zona demandados por los visitantes 1 Manuel Gil

En los últimas días ya prácticamente se han utilizado casi todos los adjetivos posibles, de perfil positivo, para acercarse lo más posible a la definición de este verano en Sotogrande, y dicho sea de paso, ha sido más que positivo, fantástico. Una temporada estival que ya comenzase con muy buenos números de ocupación y visitantes durante el mes de julio, signo de que se vaticinaba un verano de buenos resultados para los sectores vinculados al turismo, pero que agosto terminó de certificar, logrando una media ocupación del 85% aproximadamente. Lo que supone casi un 5% de crecimiento respecto a periodos anteriores, confirmando el repunte en muchos sentidos del sector.

Una cifra apreciable, dado las imágenes que hemos publicado y que se han visto reflejadas durante todo el periodo vacacional con grandes aglomeraciones de personas en los principales puntos de encuentro de la zona: mercadi-

llos, puerto deportivo, Ribera del Marlin, polo, clubes de playa…

Otro de los aspectos que ha contribuido de manera notable son los diferentes atractivos que este verano se han puesto en marcha.

Los servicios de chiringuitos, restaurantes, competiciones deportivas sociales, el innovador ‘Mercado de Levante’, fiestas o exposiciones, entre otros, se convirtieron en un gran reclamo para visitantes y residentes que no faltaron a su cita de este verano en Sotogrande. Como es habitual en la temporada de verano, el perfil de los turistas contó con un predominante acento nacional, siempre más fiel en los mes estivales, especialmente en el mes de agosto. Aunque no pocos extranjeros optaron también por los meses de ‘calor’ para desembarcar en Sotogrande.

Desde el punto de vista hotelero, desde los complejos de Almenara Resort y NH Sotogrande lograron registrar unos niveles de ocupación medios cercanos

al90% durante los meses de julio y agosto. Las mejoras y novedades presentadas por Almenara esta temporada no han pasado desapercibidas. Así como un generoso número de salidas en el campo de golf, otro de los reclamos de esta zona. La celebración de torneos sociales son siempre un aliciente para los turistas que buscan escapadas ligadas a este deporte, el golf.

Algo similar se puede comprobar en The Suites at San Roque Club, junto a los magníficos trazados de Old Course y New Course de San Roque Club. Con un nivel de ocupación medio del 80% durante el mes de agosto, deja también un balance positivo. Con un perfil de visitante nacional y principalmente en mayor demanda cara a los fines de semanas, el enclave también ha sido uno de los más solicitados este verano.

También, en pleno Puerto de Sotogrande, el Hotel Club Marítimo de Sotogrande logró alcanzar una media cercana al 85% de ocupación durante este mes de agosto, alcanzado el lleno en muchos fines de semana y jornadas claves del verano en Sotogrande.

Ese mismo nivel lo está logrando alargar durante la primera quincena de septiembre, cifrando unos niveles de ocupación muy altos durante los fines de semana.

Estas mismas cifras también las alcanzas otros puntos hoteleros de la zona, de menor capacidad, con unos datos muy positivos durante todo el verano y prácticamente sin camas libres. Una cuota que también se hace extensible a los alquileres de apartamentos y villas tanto en Sotogrande como su entorno. En la que se lograron ocuparon un porcentaje altísimo de inmuebles.

Desde el punto de vista de la restauración y servicios, el balance también es bastante positivo. Resaltado en ambos sectores que el mes de julio tuvo una fuerza poco habitual en los últimos años, logrando alcanzar objetivos sin necesidad de basar toda la concentración de actividad en el mes de agosto. Buena prueba de ello es que mucha de los eventos se ha adelantado al mes de julio, con buenos datos de ocupación.

Respecto a los campos de golf, el nivel de salidas también ha sido positivo, más en consonancia con años anteriores. Los torneos sociales y competiciones deportivas, de todos los ámbitos, son otro de los fenómenos característicos de Sotogrande y de su atractivo estival. Un buen balance que deja pocos calificativos, además de magnífico, para calificar el verano de 2015 en Sotogrande.

Sotogrande enjoys a very positive summer in terms of occupancy levels and services • Occupancy levels in the hotel sector reach an average level of 85% • A strong July made it a notable season for tourism sectors • Social tournaments and sports competitions were big attraction in the area and highly sought after by visitors Over the last few days practically every possible positive adjective has been used to try and come as close as possible to defining this summer in Sotogrande, and to put it briefly, it has been more than positive, it has been fantastic. The summer season got underway with very good occupancy and visitor figures in July, a sign that allowed us to predict a summer of good results for tourism related sectors, which was confirmed in August, with average overall occupancy at around 85%. This amounts to growth of almost 5% in relation to previous periods, confirming a recovery in the sector.

This is a substantial figure, given the images that we have published and which have been reflected in the large crowds of people at the main gathering points in the area: markets, the sports marina, Ribera del Marlin, polo, beach clubs…

Another aspect that has made a notable contribution is the different attractions that have been put in place. Beach bars, restaurants, social sports competitions, the innovative “Mercado de Levante”, parties and exhibitions, as well as other attractions, became great attractions for visitors and residents, who certainly made their presence felt this summer in Sotogrande. As is standard in the

summer season, the tourists were mainly Spanish nationals, a group that never fails to turn up in the summer months, especially in August. However, there were also a considerable number of foreign tourists that chose the hottest months to visit Sotogrande.

From the point of view of hotels, the Almenara Resort and NH Sotogrande resorts managed to register occupancy levels close to 90% during July and August. The improvements and new features offered by Almenara this season did not go unnoticed. There were also a large number of people out on the golf courses, another of the key attractions in the area. The

holding of social tournaments is also an incentive for tourists that seek getaways linked to golf.

Something similar can be seen at The Suites at San Roque Club, next to the magnificent Old Course and New Course at San Roque Club. With an average occupancy level of 80% during August, it also made a positive assessment of summer.

The visitor profile was largely Spanish and with most visitors at the weekend, making the spot one of the most in demand this summer.

Also, right in the middle of the Port of Sotogrande, the Hotel Club Marítimo de Sotogrande managed an average occupan-

cy level of 85% during August, and was booked out at many weekends and key days during the Sotogrande summer.

This same level is being kept up during the first fortnight of September, with very high occupancy levels registered at the weekend.

These figures have also beach reached by other, lower capacity hotels in the area that have had very positive figures throughout summer, with practically no vacancies. This figure is also applicable to rentals of apartments and villas in Sotogrande as well as the surrounding area.

An extremely high percentage of properties managed to fill up with tenants for the summer.

In terms of restaurants and services, the overall assessment is also quite positive. It is worth

highlighting that for both sectors, July was an unusually strong month in comparison with the last few years. As such, the sectors managed to meet targets without the need to concentrate all of their activity on August. Proof of this is that many events were brought forward to July, with good occupancy levels.

With regard to golf courses, the level of rounds played has also been positive, more in line with previous years. Social tournaments and sports competitions, across all areas, are another of the phenomena that have defined Sotogrande and its summer appeal.

There is little to say to define summer 2015 in Sotogrande, other than that it has been magnificent.

¿Cuál sería el balance desde el punto de vista técnico de este verano en Sotogrande?

Este verano ha sido a todas luces y desde casi todos los primas muy positivos. Se puede esclarecer con datos de ocupación, niveles de llegadas de residentes y turistas así como la buena marcha de

la temporada para los diferentes sectores vinculados al turismo y servicios (restaurantes, comercios, chiringuitos,…). Por ello, en esta edición, la sección ‘La Ventana de Opinión’ de El Periódico de Soto-

grande ha querido centrarse en un punto de vista algo más técnico sobre las impresiones que deja esta temporada estival en la zona.

Para ello, se ha sondeado la opinión de cuatro responsables per-

tenecientes a diferentes áreas de influencia en la economía de Sotogrande. Como son el hotelero, inmobiliario, deportivo (golf) y de restauración de temporada (chiringuito). La opinión extendida es

más que notable y positiva. Destacando la buena marcha de la temporada veraniega y partiendo de la sensación de que el mercado y la revalorización de la zona está en crecimiento.

What would be the assessment of this summer in Sotogrande from an expert point of view?

This summer has clearly been very positive from almost every perspective. This is easy to see with the occupancy statistics, and number of residents and tourists arriving as well as the

good progress of the season for different sectors linked to tourism and services (restaurants, businesses, beach bars…).

Therefore, in this edition, the “Window of Opinion” section of

El Periódico de Sotogrande has chosen to focus on a more expert view of the impressions left by summer in the area.

To do this, we have surveyed four people that have leading

roles in different areas that have an influence on Sotogrande’s economy. These areas are hotels, property, sport (golf) and seasonal restaurants (beach bars).

The overall opinions are very

bright and positive, highlighting the good progress of the summer season and based around the feeling that the market and economy recovery in the area are growing.

Además la nueva configuración en Los Pinos fue un éxito. Todos estos cambios positivos han creado un verano vibrante con el verdadero “Estilo de Sotogrande”. Como resultado hemos visto un fuerte resurgimiento de la confianza en el mercado inmobiliario, con una gran subida de la demanda y con un buen número de ventas, pero todavía un poco lejos de lo que había sido normal a principios y mediados de la pasada década.

The season has been very good and the improvements shown in the macroeconomic figures have been reflected in our sector. People in general, national and foreign tourists are more willing to spend and invest money in leisure activities, not just on a day to day basis, but also when it comes to organising festivities and events. The end of summer is leaving us with a good feeling and we hope to continue working during winter, organising the best new additions for our clients for the 2016 season.

This summer has been the busiest I can remember. The season started early and ran till the 1st week in September. The Chiringuitos are all still open and we continue to benefit from great weather. The fantastic effort made by Sotogrande S.A. with El Mercado del Levante, the food trucks and the pop shops at Blue Marlin was well received and buzzing. In addition the new setup at Los Pinos was success. All these positive changes have gone a long way to creating a vibrant summer in true “Soto Style.” As a result we have seen a strong resurgence of confidence in the property market with a lot of new interest. There have been a good number of sales but still some way off the number we had been used to in the early to mid naughties.

El Consorcio de Transporte Metropolitano del Campo de Gibraltar informó que durante los seis primeros meses del año se produjo un incremento de la demanda del 0,76%, alcanzando un total de 583.174 desplazamientos en los autobuses interurbanos que prestan servicio en dicha área.

Ese dato de crecimiento está en consonancia con el comportamiento positivo registrado por la red de los nueve consorcios. Desde el pasado ejercicio, se observa una senda de recuperación del transporte público metropolitano

en Andalucía, tras años de descensos como consecuencia de la crisis económica y el desempleo, dos factores que han influido en la movilidad ciudadana.

Por otro lado, a junio de este año el consorcio mantiene operativas un total de 23.313 tarjetas de viaje, lo que supone un incremento del 15,7%, equivalente a 3.177 nuevos títulos expedidos con respecto a junio del pasado ejercicio.

Esta subida confirma la predisposición cada vez mayor de los usuarios a realizar sus desplazamientos en autobús mediante este sistema de

pago, que se traduce en descuentos de en torno a un 30% sobre el precio del billete sencillo y de aproximadamente un 40% en los transbordos.

Durante los seis primeros meses del año, los usuarios del Campo de Gibraltar han realizado un total de 44.559 operaciones de venta, recarga y consultas de tarjetas en los 62 puntos de venta existentes en este ámbito metropolitano.

La puesta en marcha de este modo de pago permite a cada uno de los nueve consorcios implantar la integración tarifaria en su área.

La Guardia Civil interviene 4.500 cajetillas de tabaco de contrabando en la A-7 ✑ M. G.

La Guardia Civil intervino 4.500 cajetillas de tabaco y detuvo a una persona por un presunto delito de contrabando.

Agentes del Puesto Principal de San Roque establecieron un operativo especial de seguridad ciudadana en la autovía A-7, dentro del término municipal de San Roque.

Durante el mismo pararon a

un turismo, identificando a su conductor e inspeccionando el vehículo.

En el interior encontraron 4.500 cajetillas de tabaco carentes de las legales precintas intracomunitarias repartidas entre el maletero y los asientos traseros.

El conductor, domiciliado en Los Barrios, fue detenido como presunto autor de un delito de

contrabando.

De los hechos se instruyeron las correspondientes diligencias que en unión del tabaco y vehículo intervenidos fueron puestos a disposición de la Autoridad Judicial.

Guardia Civil intercepts 4,500 packets of contraband tobacco on the A-7 The Guardia Civil seized 4,500 packets of cigarettes and made one arrest for suspected smuggling.

Agents from the San Roque Guardia Civil Headquarters set up a special civic

security operation on the A-7 road within the municipality of San Roque. During the operation they stopped a car, identified its driver and inspected the vehicle.

Inside it they found 4,500

boxes of cigarettes lacking the legal intracommunity seals. They were spread between the boot of the vehicle and the back seats. The driver, whose residence is listed as Los Barrios,

was arrested for suspected smuggling.

The corresponding legal procedures were opened following the events, and the seized tobacco and vehicle were made available

to Legal Authorities.

Ruíz Mateos Eran las cinco de la madrugada del 24 de febrero de 1983 cuando recibí una llamada del Director General (digamos que era el jefe de todos los Abogados del Estado) en mi domicilio particular. El recuerdo de que, justamente dos años antes, se había pro1 Luis Babiano ducido el asalto al ConAbogados / Lawyers greso de los Diputados, Sotogrande hizo que diera un salto de la cama y me despertara de inmediato. Al aparato estaba el propio Director General en persona quien, con una voz nerviosa y notoriamente cansada, me dio instrucciones de personarme inmediatamente en la Delegación de Hacienda de Jerez de la Frontera. Aunque le pregunté repetidas veces el motivo de dicha llamada y de la urgente personación, no me dio detalle alguno sino que me repetía una y otra vez que me fuera directamente al teletipo que teníamos en la Abogacía del Estado en dicha Delegación, que leyera detenidamente lo que se estaba transmitiendo y que me fuera con el contenido de lo transmitido a la oficina del Delegado de Hacienda.

Aquel día estaba yo durmiendo en Algeciras porque atendía una comisión de servicio en esta ciudad y tardé un par de horas en llegar a la Delegación. A aquellas horas (siete de la mañana) la Delegación parecía una feria. Vehículos oficiales de la Guardia Civil, Policía Nacional, Aduanas, etc. estaban aparcados de manera no muy ordenada en la entrada del edificio que se encontraba completamente iluminado aunque los funcionarios no habían llegado aún. El escenario no hizo más que aumentar mi alarma.

Siguiendo las instrucciones recibidas, entré en mi solitario despacho de la Abogacía del Estado y me dirigí a la sala del

teletipo. Rápidamente me di cuenta de dos cosas: que no se podía entrar en la sala porque el rollo de papel que salía del teletipo estaba por los suelos como una serpiente gigante y que al aparato se le había acabado el papel. Intenté ordenar sin mucho éxito el inmenso papiro donde se suponía que aparecían las instrucciones por lo que solicité el auxilio de varios guardias civiles que cumplieron su cometido con una gran eficacia. Ello me permitió también poner papel en el teletipo que siguió escupiendo más información.

Lo que aquel inmenso rollo de papel estaba transmitiendo era el texto del Decreto Ley 2/1983 de 23 de febrero, de expropiación, por razones de utilidad pública e interés social, de los Bancos y otras Sociedades que componen el grupo «Rumasa SA. Mientras los guardias civiles seguían tratando de ordenar lo que salía por aquel loco aparato, me trasladé al despacho del Delegado donde se encontraban reunidas todas las autoridades. Allí me informan que se ha procedido a la expropiación; que he sido nombrado Administrador del Estado de las sociedades del grupo Rumasa domiciliadas en Jerez y que debía ponerles al corriente del contenido del Decreto Ley para saber cómo proceder.

El Decreto era corto y conciso pues, después de declarar la expropiación forzosa de una serie de sociedades que se relacionaban en un anexo, establecía que el Estado tomaría posesión inmediata de tales sociedades y que quedaban en suspenso todas las facultades de administración y disposición de los órganos sociales de las entidades expropiadas.

Es en este momento cuando comienza una experiencia inolvidable para un joven Abogado del Estado de 28 años; el declive de las empresas del grupo Rumasa y el calvario personal de su fundador José María Ruíz Mateos.

Dado que el teletipo no terminaba de transmitir más información, rectificando errores del Decreto y ampliando la lista de sociedades expropiadas, la real ocupación e intervención de la matriz jerezana no pudo realizarse hasta la una de la tarde. Para esa hora todas las personas interesadas sabían lo que estaba pasando y las caras que encontré cuando entré en las instalaciones acompañado de la fuerza

pública, eran de auténtico terror ante la incertidumbre de lo que iba a pasar.

A partir de ahí, la historia es conocida aunque mi cargo de Administrador no pasó del año. Sin embargo participé de historias muy humanas que probablemente nunca serán contadas. Entre ellas viene a mi recuerdo una solicitud para seguir realizando transferencias a la madre de José María Ruíz Mateos con el objeto de que siempre hubiera una cantidad mínima en su cuenta corriente. También recuerdo otra solicitud para autorizar la entrada de contrabando en Venezuela de dos contenedores de un conocido brandy.

Podría seguir contando las experiencias de ese año pero la limitación del espacio me obliga a ser parco. Únicamente quiero realizar algunos comentarios sobre mi visión jurídica de lo acontecido.

Desde mi punto de vista, la expropiación singular llevada a cabo fue simple y llanamente una aberración jurídica hasta el punto de que el Tribunal Constitucional tuvo que acudir al voto de calidad de su Presidente para dirimir el empate que existía. Cabe recordar que este mismo Presidente renunció a su cargo después de dictar la sentencia y se fue de España muriendo poco tiempo después, pienso yo, de asco y de pena. Posteriormente los tribunales europeos dictaminaron la injusticia de la expropiación llevada a cabo aunque Ruíz Mateos no cobró ningún tipo de indemnización.

Informé en su momento, y sigo pensando lo mismo ahora, que hubiera bastado con la intervención de los bancos del grupo para controlar los peligros que el mismo representaba. El grupo Rumasa sin los bancos no aguantaba ni una semana. La intervención era un mecanismo de control perfectamente normal y tradicionalmente regulado en nuestro sistema jurídico que no hubiera hecho rechinar ninguna conciencia. Controlando los bancos se controlaba todo el grupo. Y controlando los bancos, el Gobierno hubiera podido conocer la situación real de las sociedades y adoptar medidas más razonables y congruentes con la situación existente.

Ha muerto el fundador del grupo Rumasa, descanse en paz.

What that immense roll of paper was transmitting was the Decree Law 2/1983 of 23 February regarding the expropriation, for reasons of public utility and social interest, of the Banks and other Societies that comprise the group Rumasa S.A. As the Guardia Civ-il officers kept trying to order what was being churned out at a crazy rate by the device, I went to the Office in the building where all of the authorities were gathered. There, they informed me that the expropriation had gone ahead, and that I had been named State Administrator of the companies owned by the Rumasa group in Jerez and that I should inform them of the content of the Decree Law in order to find out how to pro-ceed.

The Decree was short and concise as, after declaring the forced expropriation of a series of companies that were listed in an annex, it outlined that the State would take immedi-ate possession of those companies. The Decree Law also stated that all of the adminis-trative powers and the regulation of social bodies of the expropriated companies had been suspended.

This moment, the decline of the Rumasa Group’s companies and the personal torment of its founder José Maríá Ruíz Mateos, marked the beginning of an unforgettable expe-rience for a young 28 year old State Lawyer.

Given that the teleprinter did not stop transmitting information to correct errors in the Decree and increasing the list of companies expropriated, the actual taking over and intervention of the Jerez headquarters could not take place until one in the afternoon. By that point, everyone involved knew what was happening, and the faces that I found when I entered the facilities accompanied by public forces, were those of terror faced with the uncertainty of what was going to happen.

From that point onwards, the story is well-known although my role as Administrator did not continue beyond the end of the

year. However, I played a part in very human stories that will probably never be told. Among them, one comes to mind of a request to keep making transfers to the mother of José María Ruíz Mateos to ensure that there was always a minimum amount of money in her account. I also remember another request to authorize smuggling two containers of a well-known brandy into Venezuela.

I could continue recounting my experiences that year but space limitations force me to restrict myself. I only want to make observations about my legal view of what took place.

From my point of view, the unique expropriation that took place was clearly a legal ab-erration to the point that the President of the Constitutional Court had to cast the “quality vote” in order to settle the tie. It is worth remembering that this President resigned from his role after passing the ruling, left Spain, and died soon afterwards, from disgust and sorrow I believe. Afterwards, the European Courts offered their judgement of the injustice of the expropriation that had taken place although Ruíz Mateos did not receive any type of compensation.

I stated at the time, and I still have the same belief, that it would have sufficed to inter-vene with the group’s banks in order to control the risks that it posed. The Rumasa group would barely have lasted a week without the banks. That intervention would have been a perfectly normal control mechanism and one that is traditionally regulated in our legal system, and would not have troubled anyone’s conscience. Controlling the banks would mean controlling the entire group. By controlling the banks, the Government would have been able to know the companies’ real situation and adopt more reasonable and fitting measures for the existing situation.

Ruiz Mateos It was five o’clock in the morning on 24 February 1983 when I received a call from the Director General (the boss of all of the State Lawyers) at my home. Memories of the coup that had taken place just two years prior at the Spanish House of Commons, made me startle in bed and wake up immediately. On the phone the Director General himself was talking and, with a nervous and extremely tired voice, he told me to immediately go to the Tax Authorities in Jerez de la Frontera. Although I asked him several times for the reason behind the call and my urgent trip there, he provided no details. He simply kept repeating that I should go directly to the teleprinter that we had operating at the State Lawyers Office and carefully read what was being transmitted and take the material received to the Tax Office.

That day I was sleeping in Algeciras because I was attending a service board in the city and I took a few hours to get to the Office. By that point (seven in the morning) the Office looked like a fairground. Official Guardia Civil, National Police and Customs vehicles were parked in a disorganised manner at the entrance to the building, which was completely lit up despite the fact that the officials still had not arrived. The scene simply increased my panic.

Following the instructions I had received, I entered my personal office at the State Law-yers Office and went to the teleprinter room. I quickly became aware of two things. Firstly, it was not possible to get into the room because the roll of paper coming out of the teleprinter covered the floor like a giant serpent. Secondly, the device had run out of paper. I tried, without much success, to order the immense mound of paper where I im-agined the instructions would appear. Therefore, I asked several Guardia Civil officers for help and they carried out the task with great efficiency. That also allowed me to put paper into the teleprinter, and it continued to churn out more information.

The founder of the Rumasa group has died, may he rest in peace.

El presidente de la Mancomunidad de Municipios del Campo de Gibraltar, Luis Ángel Fernández, y el presidente de la Asociación Nacional de Empresas Públicas de Medio Ambiente (ANEPMA), Rafael Arjona, presentaron la vigesimotercera edición de las Jornadas Técnicas de Medio Ambiente, el congreso anual de la ANEPMA, un organismo que agrupa a 42 empresas públicas de servicios urbanos

(principalmente recogida y tratamiento de residuos y limpieza viaria) de todo el país.

En esta ocasión, el congreso tendrá lugar entre los días 18 y 20 de Noviembre de 2015 en el Llano Amarillo de Algeciras, tratándose de la primera ocasión en la que la provincia de Cádiz tiene el privilegio de acoger este evento. La organización del mismo es responsabilidad, en esta ocasión, de ARCGISA, empresa pública

asociada a ANEPMA. Anualmente, estas jornadas reúnen a más de 400 profesionales, técnicos y directivos, de las empresas integrantes de ANEPMA así como de sus socios colaboradores y proveedores, representantes públicos y técnicos municipales, convirtiendo a la ciudad en la que se celebra en un punto de atención para el sector de los servicios urbanos.

23rd Technical Conference on Environmental Matters to be held in the region The event brings together more than 400 professionals from 18 to 20 November The President of the Association of Municipalities of Campo de Gibraltar, Luis Ángel Fernández, and the president of the National Association of Public Environmental Companies (ANEPMA), Rafael Arjona, presented the twenty-third edition

La jornada previa al III Triatlón de San Roque, disputado en Sotogrande, se llevó a cabo en la playa de Torreguadiaro diferentes actividades y dinámicas en la que los más pequeños disfrutaron con su particular ‘maratón’. Juegos, competiciones deportivas, música y buen ambiente fue la tónica dominante durante toda la jornada. También hubo espacio para los más mayores, con una Ruta de la Tapa por Torreguadiaro.

Los alumnos del Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande comenzaron el curso el 1 de septiembre. A su llegada al centro les esperaba la habitual ‘asamblea’ de bienvenida llena de presentaciones. Además, algunos de ellos pusieron música a la jornada con una improvisada sinfonía que no dejó a nadie indiferente.

En octubre, concretamente el 17 y 18, arranca la quinta edición del Circuito de J80 en aguas de Sotogrande. Un cita muy esperada para los amantes de la vela en la zona.

Depósito de fianza para un contrato de arrendamiento en Andalucía Muchos arrendadores desconocen por completo que en la Comunidad Autónoma andaluza existe la obligación de depósito de fianzas de alquiler en Andalucía, lo cual es ciertamente peligroso, pues el incumplimiento de esta obligación puede acarrear graves sanciones.

La fianza debe ser depositada, tanto si el arrendamiento tiene lugar para un uso destinado exclusivamente a vivienda como si está destinado para uso distinto de vivienda (locales de negocio), siendo el obligado a depositar dicha fianza el arrendador, es decir, el propietario de la vivienda o

inmueble alquilado.

El importe de la fianza será de una mensualidad de la renta pactada si se trata de arrendamiento de vivienda y de dos mensualidades para uso distinto del de vivienda.

Cómo decimos más arriba, es una obligación que muchos propietarios desconocen, pero la realidad es que existe y su incumplimiento puede acarrear sanciones de entre 60 euros y 3.600 euros, sin que la sanción pueda nunca sobrepasar el valor del 50% de la fianza que no se depositó.

El plazo para depositar la fianza es de un mes desde que se inicia el contrato y se procede

a la entrega de la misma por parte del inquilino; en el caso de que nos pasemos de este plazo y realicemos el depósito fuera del mismo, se exigirá un recargo del 10%, excluyendo el interés legal y las sanciones que fueran exigibles.

El organismo competente actualmente en esta materia en Andalucía es la Agencia de Vivienda y Rehabilitación de Andalucía (AVRA), adscrita a la Consejería de Fomento y Vivienda, y el ingreso de la fianza de alquiler se hará mediante el modelo 806. Además de este modelo, habrá que aportar ante el AVRA la referencia catas-

tral del inmueble objeto del arrendamiento; original y copia del contrato de arrendamiento; en caso de arrendatario extranjero, fotocopia del NIE (número de identidad extranjero); y autorización del arrendador, si la presentación del modelo 806 la realiza otra persona.

Una vez finalizado el contrato, la administración deberá devolvernos la fianza depositada, para lo cual la Junta dispone de un plazo de un mes desde la fecha de la solicitud.

Para solicitar la devolución, debemos presentar rellenado el modelo 810 de la Junta de Andalucía.

Deposit payments for rental contracts in Andalusia Many landlords are completely oblivious to the fact that in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, it is necessary to have deposit payments for rental in Andalusia. Han sido más de 60 espectáculos. Cientos de horas de música y entretenimiento para los más de 25.000 asistentes a lo largo de dos intensas jornadas, del exitoso del Gibraltar Music Festival 2015.

La primera jornada del GMF contó con tres nombres pro-

pios: Duran Duran, Estopa y Little Mix. Un espectáculo gigante: tres escenarios, más uno con actividades y música para niños, decenas de puestos de comidas y bebida, actividades paralelas, con una magnífica organización fueron un más que emocionante

encuentro.

La clausura, con 25.000 almas corrió a cargo de conocidos nombres de la música como Supersubmarina, Kaiser Chiefs, Madness, Kings of Leon…

Sin duda un éxito con vistas al próximo Gibraltar Music Festival, el año que viene.

Exposición homenaje a Juan Villalta, en Tarifa El próximo sábado, 19 de septiembre, se rendirá homenaje en la Cárcel Real de Tarifa una exposición homenaje al artista tarifeño Juan Villalta. La muestra estará vigente hasta el próximo 27 de septiembre en la sala de exposiciones de la Cárcel Real de lunes a viernes (18:00-21:00) y fines de semana (11:00-14:00 y 18:00-21:00); la organización corre a cargo de Amanda Maisey.

La muestra recopila una selección de imágenes en blanco y negro del artista, nacido en 1928, en la que cada una de ellas recoge un poco de la perspectiva y vida de Villalta.

Este autodidacta tarifeño realizó una descripción durante más de 30 años de muchos de los momentos más importantes de la historia de España, logrando plasmarlos en imágenes y aportando parte de su visión y vida en cada fotografía.

The event involved hundreds of hours of music and entertainment for more than 25,000 festival-goers over the course of two days at the successful 2015 Gibraltar Music Festival.

The first day of the GMF had

three big names: Duran Duran, Estopa and Little Mix. It was a giant spectacle: three stages, as well as another for children’s music, lots of food and drinks stands, side activities, and magnificent organization created a very exciting event.

The close of the event, with

25,000 participants, saw performances from well-known musical names such as Supersubmarina, Kaiser Chiefs, Madness and Kings of Leon…

It was undoubtedly a success, with thoughts now turning to next year’s Gibraltar Music Festival.

Next Saturday on 19 September, homage will be offered at the Royal Prison of Tarifa with an exhibition paying tribute to the artist Juan Villalta who is from Tarifa. The exhibition runs until 27 September in the exhibition hall of the Royal Prison. It is open from Monday to Friday (18:00-21:00) and at the weekend (11:00-14:00 and 18:00-21:00); it has been organised by Amanda Maisey.

The exhibition brings together a selection of black and white images by the artist who was born in 1928, and each of them shows something about perspective and the life of Villalta.

For over 30 years this self-taught artist from Tarifa provided a description of many of the most important moments in the history of Spain, by managing to capture them in images and by contributing part of his vision and life to every photograph.

Verano para enmarcar en Sotogrande de Dubai Polo Team.

El cuarteto formado por R. Albwardy(2), Martin Valent (4), Alejo Taranco (6) y Adolfo Cambiaso (10); conquista la Copa de Oro del 44 Torneo Internacional de Santa María Polo Club y logra firmar el doblete soñado este verano en Sotogrande, tras doblegar por segunda ocasión (como ya pasases en la Copa de Plata) a la formación de Víctor Vargas en la Gran Final.

En esta ocasión, el duelo decisi-

vo estuvo mucho más disputado que en la final plateada y guardó emoción hasta el último chukker aunque el buen hacer Dubai y el enorme estado de gracia de un jugador de leyenda como es Adolfo Cambiaso, desató el talento en el tramo más determinante para dejar un marcador final de 12-10.

Lechuza Caracas [Víctor Vargas (1), J. Lusarreta (6), Juan Martín Nero (10) y José Donoso (5)] mantuvo un gran nivel durante todo el cuentro. Tras un buen comienzo de Dubai, de la mano de

un gran Nero, Lechuza estuvo parejo siempre en el marcador y aguantó una y otra vez estar por debajo en el marcador. Finalmente, Dubai logra su exitoso doblete y firma un verano redondo en Sotogrande.

La final de la Copa de Oro, un año más, congregó a numeroso público en las gradas de Santa María Polo Club y numerosas personalidades. En esta ocasión, la modelo Nieves Álvarez fue la encargada de entregar la Copa de Oro al conjunto gana-

Dubai complete a perfect summer in Sotogrande by winning the Copa de Oro It has been a summer to remember in Sotogrande for the Dubai Polo Team. The side comprised of R. Albwardy(2), Martin Valent (4), Alejo Taranco (6) and Adolfo Cambiaso (10); won the Copa de Oro at the 44th International Tournament at Sana María Polo Club and managed to get the double they had dreamed of this summer in Sotogrande, after their second win (following the one in the Copa de Plata) against Víctor Vargas’ side in the Gran Final.

On this occasion, the decisive duel was much closer than in the Copa de Plata final and was exciting right up to the final chukka. However, Dubai’s good work and the magnificent form of a legendary player such as Adolfo

Cambiaso who showed his talent at the decisive time was crucial in getting a 12-10 win.

Lechuza Caracas [Víctor Vargas (1), J. Lusarreta (6), Juan Martín Nero (10) and José Donoso (5)] played at a very high level throughout the game. Following a good start from Dubai, Lechuza kept the scores level thanks to an in-form Nero, and time after time managed to withstand when they were behind. Finally, Dubai managed to get their double success and end a very complete summer in Sotogrande.

Once again this year, the final of the Copa de Oro brought together lots of spectators in the stands at Santa Maríá Polo Club as well as several well-known

faces. This time round, the model Nieves Álvarez was responsible for presenting the Copa de Oro to the winning side. There were also prizes for Juan Martin Nero, as best player of the tournament who was presented the Javier Novillo Astrada Trophy; and Adolfo Cambiaso’s horse “Chun Chun” which won best mare of the tournament. Also, the Dos Lunas A&G Banca Privada side received the Copa Pedro Domecq de la Riva trophy. It was a great final and the perfect finishing touch to another great season of polo in Sotogrande once again this summer.

St. Mesme and Valdeparras are crowned champions in Copa de Oro Medium and Low Handicap Categories The Saint Mesme and Valdeparras Lynx sides were Copa de Oro winners in the Medium and Low Hadicap categories respectively at the 44th International Tournament at Santa María Polo Club.

Saint Mesme lifted the Copa de Oro in the Medium Handicap tournament after beating Golden Goose Deluxe Brand 11-10 in the added chukka. A goal by the Spanish professional Pelayo Berazadi gave the win to the French side that is also made up of Birger and Robert Strom and Clemente Zavaleta.

Christian Bernal, from Golden Goose Deluxe Brand, was named best player of the final while his

mare Manuela (that played in the 4th and the added chukka) was named as best mare in the final.

The Subsidiary Copa de Oro went to Open John Smith who beat Yaguara 12-11 in the final.

In the Low Handicap category, the Copa de Oro Valecuatro went to Valdeparras Lynx following their win in another very closely fought final against La Clatira. The side comprised of Fernando Primo de Rivera, Yago Espinosa de los Monteros, Gastón Bardengo and Jaime Espinosa de los Monteros won 9-7 and lifted the most important trophy of the season. Mahra Polo Team won the Subsidiary Copa after beating El Cañal 7-4.

Las instalaciones de Santa María Polo Club acogen el próximo mes de octubre, entre el 9 y el 11, el Campeonato de Andalucía de Polo. Tras la disputa del Campeonato Nacional, las canchas de Rio vuelven a ser testigos de una competición del primer nivel de polo. Y es que en Sotogrande, el polo no descansa.

Una nueva oportunidad, en plena temporada de otoño,

para disfrutar del mejor ambiente de Sotogrande, como en cada competición que se celebra en las canchas de Rio, y asistir a otro gran evento deportivo, con polo del mejor nivel nacional, en Sotogrande.

El equipo La Ortiga se proclamó nuevo Campeón de España de Polo tras vencer en una ajustada y vibrante final, con un apasionante último chukker, al cuarteto de Opel- John Smith por un marcador de 7.5 goles a 7. El campeonato, disputado a un sólo partido, se celebró en la cancha I de Rio; un torneo organizado por la Real Federación

Española de Polo y Santa María Polo Club.

Tras un encuentro bastante parejo, los hombres de Opel-John Smith (Gabriel Aguirre, Carlos Piñal, Diogo Gallego y Yago Espinosa de los Monteros) llegaron a los últimos instantes del duelo con ventaja en el marcador. Un tanto decisivo de La Ortiga (Richard Fagan, Rosendo Torregui-

tar, Santi Torreguitar y Daniel Gariador) sobre la campana, cuando se encontraba medio gol por debajo, fue decisivo para la victoria final de La Ortiga.

En el plano deportivo, no se consiguió el hoyo en uno (una prueba más) que cuenta con el regalo de una moto Yamaha. En los premios especiales, la Bola más cercana (hoyo 17) fue para Sergery Lukjanchikov, mientras que el Drive más recto cayó en manos de Javier Mielgo. En esta prueba, también contaron con distinción la Bola más cercana por parte de The Gecko Tour que ganó Pablo Chillón; y el premio especial de

Sergery Lukjanchikov recibe el premio a la Bola más cercana de Luis Oliveira, de Grupo Bacardi.

the third edition for participants at the top end of the qualification rankings. As such, a fantastic weekend has been organised in the Vilamoura del Algarve area, with a stay at the fantastic Tivoli Victoria Hotel, as well as

the Gran Final being held at the Oceánico Victoria Golf course.

There are places in the Gran Final for the top 9 ranking players in the Men’s First and Second Categories, and the top 7 competitors in the Women’s Category.

Alcaidesa Golf is the last opportunity to gain points The tournament at the links course at Alcaidesa on 29 September will provide the final qualification rankings for the Gran Final in Portugal On Saturday 19 September, Alcaidesa Golf will host the last qualifying event for the 3rd Sotogrande Magazine Golf Circuit, following a long journey involving five events that began in April at the Novo Sancti Petri course. The magnificent links course at Alcaidesa is the last stop on the successful third edition of the Circuit. The 18 holes next to the sea, with views of Africa, will be the last obstacle for players hoping to qualify for the Gran Final that will be played in October at the impressive Victoria Oceánico course in Portugal.

The registration cost for Alcaidesa Golf is 70 euros, and like every event on the Circuit, that includes the green fee, buggy and cocktail. Gran éxito del III Triatlón de San Roque, disputado en Sotogrande 1 M. Gil

Chris Walker, del Hercules Triatlon de Gibraltar, ha sido el vencedor absoluto, por tercer año consecutivo, del III Triatlón San Roque (Tri-San Roque), que se ha celebrado este domingo en la zona de Sotogrande. La ganadora absoluta femenina fue Victoria Bandera, del Real Club Mediterráneo. Hay que recordar que ayer sábado también se disputaron varias pruebas en Torreguadiaro, para categorías más jóvenes, así como una Ruta de la Tapa.

Han participado en la competición de hoy un total de 155 deportistas, que han disputado tres segmentos: el primero a nado, el segundo en bicicleta y el último de carrera a pie. La salida y meta se situó en Puerto Sotogrande (Ribera del Marlin), donde también se llevó a cabo la entrega de trofeos.

En cuanto a las clasificaciones, como se ha señalado Chris Walker fue el vencedor absoluto, seguido de David Ramos (Triatlón Benalmádena) y Pablo Sánchez (Trimarbella). La general absoluta femenina fue encabezada por Victoria Bandera, seguida de Lula Martínez (UCA) y Ascensión Torres (Tricai).

Respecto a las clasificaciones por edades, en Sub 23 Masculino, el primero fue Ismael Rojas (Trimarbella), seguido de Pedro González (UCA) y de Álvaro Fernández (Algeciras). En Cadete Masculino el primero fue Pablo

Sánchez (Trimarbella), seguido de Alejandro Mesa (Trimarbella) y Julian Vinales (Gibraltar).

En Élite Femenino, la primera fue Lula Martínez (UCA), seguida de Ángela Ortiz de Galisteo (Triecija) y de Mercedes Herrera (Cuervas del Becerro). En Élite Masculino, el vencedor fue David Ramos (Triatlón Benalmádena), seguido de José Antonio Sáncez (Triatlón Benalmádena) y Manuel Aranda (CT La Barrosa). En Júnior Femenino, la única participante fue Victoria Bandera (Real Club Mediterráneo).

The impressive and unique facilities at Dos Lunas Polo & Dressage hosted the CDN Competition *** and the Cup of the Spanish National Association of Pure Bred Horse Breeders (ANCCE) and the CDN*** Under-18 Cup. The level of competition was very high and there were more than fifty top-level participants competing over two days at the weekend. In the fabulous setting, the large crowd attending the event was able to enjoy the

plasticity and beauty of Dressage in its purest form. The trotting, range of different movement and the impression created by riders and horses created a unique atmosphere that can only be found somewhere like Dos Lunas Polo & Dressage.

Las obras en el campo de La Unión El II Torneo Polo Arena en Algeciras, de Guadiaro, en la última fase

del 16 al 18 de octubre

Ya se encuentran en la última fase las obras de mejoras que se están realizando en los campos de fútbol de las barriadas de la Estación de San Roque, Puente Mayorga y Guadiaro. El delegado de Urbanismo, Juan Manuel Ordóñez, el concejal delegado de deportes Antonio Navas, y el teniente alcalde delegado de contratación, Óscar Ledesma, conocieron el avance de la remodelación.

Las obras están dentro de plazo y antes de un mes estarán finalizadas para que los campos de fútbol puedan ser disfrutados. Todo está a falta de que se realice el hormigonado, luego se ponga la capa de albero que va encima y por último se instale el césped ar-

tificial.

Desde la delegación de Deportes se indicó que la experiencia de estos últimos años en campos sintéticos es satisfactoria y se ha reducido enormemente el mantenimiento de los mismos, además de contar con una uniformidad del campo y unas excelentes condiciones para la práctica de este deporte por todas las categorías.

Las obras para instalar césped artificial en los campos de fútbol de Estación, Guadiaro y Puente Mayorga suponen una inversión de unos 200 mil euros en cada uno de ellos.

Así los alrededor de 600 mil euros que el Ayuntamiento invierte va a permitir que esta temporada que se inicia los

equipos que juegan en estos tres campos puedan comenzarla en césped artificial.

La instalación de césped artificial era demandada por los equipos, ante el constante uso de los campos y el deterioro que sufren los mismos, ya que en ellos juegan cada vez más categorías de las Escuelas Deportivas Municipales de fútbol. La adjudicación de la obra han sido para la empresa Quijada SL en Guadiaro; los importes de la inversión rondan los 200 mil euros.

Este año, como novedad, se

amplía de dos a tres jornadas (del 16 al 18 de octubre). Aunque falta la confirmación oficial, el escenario volverá a ser la explanada de la Isla Verde, junto al Club Naútico Saladillo.

Construction work at La Unión de Guadiaro pitch is into the final stage Improvement work being carried out on football pitches in the areas of Estación de San Roque, Puente Mayorga and Guadiaro is now entering its final stages. 2nd Polo Arena Tournament in Algeciras from 16 to 18 October For the second year, Algeciras is hosting the Beach Polo Tournament following the success of the debut edition, last summer.

This is another chance to enjoy the great spectacle of live polo, and just like last year, there will be lots of key players and teams from Sotogrande.

This year, as a new feature, the tournament has been extended from two

to three days (from 16th to 18th October). Although it has not been officially confirmed, the setting will once again be the area of level ground at Isla Verde, next to Saladillo Sailing Club.

This is an event where fun and sport will once again go hand in hand, allowing you to enjoy a weekend of polo and a great atmosphere in Algeciras.

Gran fiesta del golf en el La Cañada. Un gran número de participantes (repartidos entre las modalidades de Infantil, Caballeros, Damas y Senior), disfrutaron de un enorme ambiente de golf con motivo de la celebración del tercer Memorial Jaime Ortiz-Patiño, en honor a uno de los grandes impulsores del golf en Sotogrande.

Todas las categorías infantiles de la escuela municipal de golf la Cañada disputaron la prueba.

La victoria fue para la Cadete, Lola García Jiménez, con 75 golpes. La Cañada pays respects with the 3rd Jaime Ortiz-Patiño Golf Memorial It was a great golfing party at La Cañada. There were a large number of participants (split between the Junior, Men, Women and Senior categories) and they enjoyed a great golfing atmosphere as the 3rd Jaime Ortiz-Patiño Memorial Tournament, held in honour of a man who was a key driving force behind golf in Sotogrande.

Víctor Bjorlow, segundo en el Internacional de España Sub 18 de Golf El danés Alexander Frances consiguió el triunfo en el Internacional de España Sub 18 Masculino Stroke Play 2015, prueba puntuable para el R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking que se disputó en Golf D’Aro (Platja D’Aro, Girona), con un claro color del país nórdico. En segundo lugar, con un total de 290 golpes, finalizó el también danés, federado por San Roque Club, Víctor Bjorlow.

Alexander Frances y Victor Bjorlow no sólo han sido primer y segundo en la clasificación –sin olvidar al finés Sami Valimakim, también segundo-, sino que además ganaron la Copa de Naciones para el golf de su país. Ambos pusieron un claro acento danés al torneo.

En el duelo fratricida en la jornada final, Frances se impuso firmando una tarjeta de 74 golpes –la más discreta de su semanapor los 80 de Bjorlow, que venía de sorprender a todos con una vuelta soberbia en la tercera jornada, un 63 en la que el birdie fue la nota predominante.

in Antwerp with Spain, Great Britain, Belgium and the US participating. However, the real impact was caused at the1924 Paris Games and the 1936 Berlin Games when Argentina showed its authority, winning finals against Great Britain and the US respectively. Following the 2nd World War, polo was no longer held, due to the change to the structuring of the games and the high cost of events, according to data published in ESPN. Therefore, at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, polo could return to the elite Olympic summit 84 years after its last appearance.

En esta época del año en la que hace frío, llegan las lluvias, nieve, debemos tratar de mantenernos sanos y lo más optimistas posible. Para ello, ofrecemos estos prácticos consejos.

- Ejercitar las piernas saliendo a pasear por la calle, en el campo, en el parque, durante al menos media hora al día a un ritmo ligero. La mejor opción es al aire libre para oxigenar y ejercitar los pulmones. - La hidratación es fundamental. Para evitar la piel seca utilizaremos una crema hidratante y además,

beberemos abundante líquido (agua o zumo) para purificar nuestro organismo. - Adecuada higiene de las manos, lavándolas varias veces al día (con agua o incluso alcohol en gel para desinfectar). - Sumergir los pies en agua muy caliente durante 20 minutos antes de acostarse hace que mejoren los síntomas del resfriado. - Ingerir alimentos ricos en vitamina C como el pimiento, el tomate, el brócoli. - Masajes corporales para evitar el estrés y aumentar las defensas.
