Con esta edición El Periódico de Sotogrande inaugura el ciclo de periódicos quincenales que cada año pone en marcha esta casa para llegar más y mejor a todos nuestros lectores, con la larga lista de novedades, informaciones y cuestiones de interés que sacuden a la zona cada verano. Lo hacemos completamente preparados y con la ilusión de otra apasionante temporada estival para disfrutar de lo mejor de Sotogrande. Será un placer contarles todo lo que ocurra.

Así mismo, el comienzo de la temporada en cuanto a actividades se adelantó unas cuantas semanas, en ese constante empeño de todos los colectivos de la zona (entidades públicas y privadas) en desestacionalizar los atractivos turísticos. Gracias, en cada segmento, al Real

Club Valderrama Open de España – Fundación Sergio García, en cuanto a golf, al Campeonato del Mundo de Vela de la Clase RC44 y por supuesto, al polo que anima prácticamente todos los fines de semana desde primavera hasta finalizado el verano.

Cuestiones que conservan algunos de los mejores “productos” que puede vender y mostrar este magnífico destino al exterior.

Todos han contado con una buena acogida tanta del público local como el desplazado para las diferentes eventos.

Destacar también la mejora de otros. Doblar la Feria del Atún puede ser uno de los grandes descubrimientos para esta temporada y ensalzará el inicio de junio. Permitiendo a los visitantes disfrutar doblemente

o al menos ofrecer dos oportunidades para una de las citas más reclamadas al inicio del verano.

En esa dualidad de mejora y conservación se podrían resaltar asuntos como el aporte de arena en la playa de Sotogrande, los servicios de verano, las aperturas de los chiringuitos del entorno (muchos de ellos ya a pleno rendimiento) o la recuperación de dos banderas azules para la zona.

Todo suma y en esa línea se debe seguir cara a las próximas semanas, vitales para el despegue de una temporada estival que logre superar los positivos registros del último año. Mejorar e innovar aunque ello no vaya en perjuicio de los valores tradicional y lo que ya funciona.

Improving and preserving what already works With this edition the newspaper El Periódico de Sotogrande opens the series of fortnightly issues that it publishes every year in order to reach our readers more easily, with a long list of new additions, information and matters of interest that shake up the area every summer. We do this fully prepared and with the anticipation of another exciting summer season in which people can enjoy the best of Sotogrande. It will be our pleasure to tell you what’s going on.

The start of the season has also been brought forward a few weeks with the ongoing endeavour of all groups in the area (public and private enterprises) to make the local attractions less seasonal.

Open de España – Sergio García Foundation for golf, the World Sailing Class RC44 Championship and, of course, polo which livens up practically every weekend from Spring until the end of Summer.

Items conserving some of the best “products” to sell and showcase this magnificent area abroad. All were well attended by local spectators and also those coming from further afield to attend the various events.

Also worthy of mention is the improvement in other events.

The duplication of the Tuna Festival could be one of the great discoveries for this season and will enhance the beginning of June, allowing visitors to doubly enjoy, or at least offering two opportunities for

one of the most eagerly awaited dates at the beginning of summer.

With this dual aim of improvement and conservation, we would also highlight other items such as bringing sand to the beaches of Sotogrande, the summer facilities, the opening of the beach restaurants in the area (many of them already in full swing), or the recuperation of two blue flags for the area.

It all adds up, and we should continue along these lines for the coming weeks, which are vital for the take-off of a summer season that we hope will exceed the positive results recorded last year. Improve and innovate, but not in detriment to the traditional values and to what we know already works well.

Avenida Joseph McMicking en Sotogrande Este verano por fin se reconocerá a Joseph McMicking desde el ayuntamiento de San Roque con la aprobación en uno de los últimos plenos con el cambio de denominación de la Avenida Paniagua (en un tramo determinado de la avenida), una de las principales arterias dentro de Sotogrande, por el nombre de Ave1 José Luis García nida Joseph McMicEditor/Director king, gran artífice y uno jlgarcia@grupohcp.com de los fundadores de la Urbanización. Este reconocimiento parte de una iniciativa promovida a través de la Entidad Urbanística de Conservación Parques de Sotogrande y de la satisfacción de gran parte de los residentes mas longevos de este enclave. Porque como bien dice el refranero español, “es de bien nacido, ser agradecido”, y la visión y actuación en la década de los sesenta de McMicking/Zobel no cabe la menor duda que plantó la semilla de lo que hoy es una de las mejores

urbanizaciones de Europa, por su calidad de vida y por su idiosincrasia. Solo hay que imaginarse que en aquellos años venir por carretera desde Málaga o Cádiz, era una absoluta odisea, mientras la avenida que llevará su nombre a partir de este verano, aunque más vale tarde, se circulaba en doble carril. Donde los cables llegaban a los chalet de forma soterrada. Podríamos estar escribiendo mil razones de lo que significó la presencia de estas familias y la fundación de Sotogrande, pero he decidido que esta carta editorial hoy se titulase como su protagonista, porque sencillamente la economía de la zona disfrutó de un auge incalculable gracias a la llegada de estos visionarios. Hoy por hoy todos le debemos gratitud por ser nuestra área la elegida.

Y cuando estas líneas sean leídas por nuestros lectores, estaremos a poco mas de un mes para que llegue el ansiado verano y todo lo que conlleva. Sí muy pronto estaremos viendo las hogueras de San Juan y aquí ya esta la suerte echada. Puro verano, puro ambiente, puro negocio, porque del verano se sigue viviendo en lo que a negocios se refiere, aunque todos deseamos desestacionalizar la temporada, la realidad es la que es, Puro Verano. Y eso que hay que agradecer que los afamados chiringuitos de playa de nuestra área este año se han volcado instalando anticipadamente, sólo la lluvia de las ultimas semanas empañó este esfuerzo, pero la diversión y gastronomía está ya al servicio de los visitantes y residentes. Las playas son las que

se siguen ajustando a sus calendarios oficiales y los servicios fundamentales estarán a principios de junio, una cuestión que en este ejercicio se notará poco por la climatología, pero que en el futuro deberían darse la mano ambos calendarios.

Y finalmente, cabe recordar que esta zona está siempre muy atenta a sus grandes eventos, como los últimos vividos, el Open de España en Valderrama y la RC44 en Puerto Sotogrande, ambas actuaciones han generado aportación de riqueza a la zona y puestos de trabajo entre directos e indirectos. Y lo bueno esta por venir, será a partir de junio cuando se inicie un gran programa de actividades que pondrán de nuevo a Sotogrande entre las miradas de media Europa. Sólo resta que tanto las entidades privadas como la administración publica desarrollen sus planes acorde con la importancia de las mismas.

Desde Grupo HCP, como cada año, ponemos nuestro granito de arena con la celebración del Circuito de Golf La Revista Sotogrande, un evento ya consolidado en su cuarta edición y que goza del respaldo del amateur de toda Andalucía y resto de España. Después de la puesta en escena en el Real Club de Golf de Sevilla, todo un éxito nos respaldó, ahora toca en el espectacular trazado de La Reserva de Sotogrande, uno de los mejores campos sin duda de Europa.

Avenida Joseph McMicking in Sotogrande This summer the council will finally acknowledge the role played by Joseph McMicking with the approval in one of the last plenary sessions to change the name of a specific stretch of Avenida Paniagua, one of the main arterial roads in Sotogrande, to Avenida Joseph McMicking, as a tribute to the great orchestrator and one of the founders of the Resort. This recognition comes following an initiative backed by the Urban Conservation Entity for the Parks of Sotogrande and the satisfaction of a large part of the resort’s longest serving residents. As the saying goes, “Gratitude is the sign of noble souls”, and the vision and work of McMicking/Zobel in the sixties undoubtedly planted the seed of what is now one of the best resorts in Europe, due to its quality of life and uniqueness. You can imagine that in those years coming by road from Málaga or Cádiz was a real odyssey, while the avenue that will bear his name from this summer onwards, better late than never, ran in two lanes. The cables going to the chalets ran underground.

We could write one thousand reasons of what the presence of these families and the founding of Sotogrande meant, however I decided that today this editorial let-

ter should be entitled like its protagonist, because quite simply, the economy in the area enjoyed an incalculable rise thanks to the arrival of these visionaries. Today, we owe them gratitude that this was the area chosen.

When these lines are read by our readers, we will be a little over a month away from eagerly awaited summer arriving and everything that it involves. Yes, very soon we will be seeing the bonfires of San Juan and the die is cast. We have pure summer, pure atmosphere, pure business, because we continue to live from summer in terms of business, although we all want to deseasonalise the summer, the reality is what it is; Pure Summer. Also, we need to thank the famous beach bars in our area that have really got involved this year, by setting up early.

Only the rain over the last few weeks has tarnished this effort, however the fun and gastronomy is already at the service of visitors and residents. The beaches are the ones that continue sticking to their official calendars and the main services will be at the start of June, a matter that will not be noted much this year due to the climate, however in the future both schedules should go together.

Finally, it is worth remembering that this area is always

very attentive to its big events, such as the last ones experienced, the Spanish Open at Valderrama and the RC44 in Sotogrande, both events have created wealth in the area, as well as jobs, both directly and indirectly.

The best is still to come, it will be June when a great program of activities is started up that will once again make Sotogrande the focus of half of Europe. All that is needed now is for the private entities and public administration to carry out their plans in accordance with the importance level of them.

Just like every other year, at Grupo HCP we are making out little contribution with the holding of the Sotogrande Magazine Golf Circuit, an already consolidated event into its fourth edition, and one that enjoys the support of amateurs from all over Andalusia and the rest of Spain. Following the first event at Real Club de Golf de Sevilla, a real success, it now time to head to the spectacular La Reserva de Sotogrande course, undoubtedly one of the finest in Europe.

Torreguadiaro, Cala Sardina y Puerto Sotogrande contarán este verano con banderas azules En el caso de las dos playas se recupera el distintivo tras dos años ausente; el Puerto Deportivo mantiene su galardón al cumplir con un alto nivel de servicios mediambientales 1 Manuel Gil

El municipio de San Roque contará este año con cuatro banderas azules, tres por las playas de Alcaidesa-Faro (también conocida como Torrecarbonera), Torreguadiaro y Cala Sardina, y otra por Puerto Sotogrande, si bien esta última instalación es de titularidad privada. Además, la Asociación de Educación Ambiental y del Consumidor (Adeac), que concede estos galardones, destacó al municipio con un reconocimiento especial por su esfuerzo en materia de información y educación ambiental.

El alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, señaló que “de nuevo las banderas azules ondearán este verano en las playas sanroqueñas de mayor afluencia de visitantes,

con todo lo que representa desde el punto de vista turístico. En los dos últimos años no pudimos contar con estas enseñas por un problema administrativo, no por falta de seguridad ni de equipamientos en playas o por baja calidad en la limpieza de las aguas.

Una vez subsanado este asunto, se vuelve a la normalidad”.

“No debo olvidar -recalcó- el agradecimiento a Puerto Sotogrande por revalidar un año más su bandera azul. La calidad del servicio que se presta en esas instalaciones contribuye a afianzar al municipio como uno de los referentes nacionales y europeos en materia turística.”.

Por su parte, el teniente de alcalde delegado de Playas, José

Antonio Rojas, explicó que “a lo largo de la próxima semana comenzaremos con los trabajos de equipamiento básico en todo el litoral del municipio, no sólo en las tres playas a las que se ha concedido bandera azul. También están previstos los dispositivos de limpieza y la instalación de nuevo mobiliario, como las zonas de juegos del verano pasado o las duchas adaptadas.”.

En toda la provincia de Cádiz han sido distinguidas un total de 23 playas. En cuanto al reconocimiento por el esfuerzo en Información y Educación Ambiental, tan sólo lo han conseguido este año otros dos municipios, uno en Barcelona y otro en Cantabria.

He remarked “I should not forget to express my gratitude to the Port of Sotogrande for once again retaining its blue flag this year.

The quality of service provided by these facilities contribute to reaffirming the municipality’s status as one of the national and European benchmarks in terms of tourism”.

In turn, the deputy mayor delegate for Beaches, José Antonio Riojas, explained that “over the course of next week we will begin the basic work to provide equipment on all of the municipality’s coastline, not only on the three beaches that have been awarded the blue flag. The cleaning teams and the installation of new street furniture, such as the games ar-

eas of last summer and adapted showers are also scheduled to be put in place”.

Finally, the deputy mayor delegate for Civic Safety, Mercedes Serrano, disclosed that “the 2016 municipal budget includes an allocation of 280,000 euros for ‘Beach Lifeguard Services’. This is more than enough money to guarantee the safety of bathers on the most touristic coastline, where we have been awarded the flags, as well as of people that come to the Bay beaches (Guadarranque, Puente Mayorga and Campamento)”.

A total of 23 beaches in the province of Cadiz have been recognized. In terms of recognition for efforts relating to Environmental Information and Education, only two other municipalities have been recognized this year, one in Barcelona and another in Cantabria.

El mes de mayo, clave en la regeneración de la playa de Sotogrande El Consistorio reclama mayor celeridad a Costas y otras administraciones, para contar con el aporte de arena antes del inicio del verano 1 M. Gil

Con la entrada del mes de mayo deberían comenzar los trabajos de aporte de arena y regeneración en la playa de Sotogrande. En su visita a Sotogrande, el subdelegado del Gobierno en Cádiz, Javier de Torre, avanzó que sería con el inicio de mayo la aportación de arena para la playa. El alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, exigió la regeneración “en el plazo más breve de tiempo” de los tramos de litoral de Sotogrande y de Guadarranque “con las cantidades de arena que han fijado los técnicos”.

El primer edil reiteró el cmpormoiso de la Demarcación de Costas con la regeneración de la playa de Sotogrande y anunció que “la cuestión está avanzada. Parece que cuando el tiempo amaine del todo se va a realizar esa aportación de 20.000 metros cúbicos de arena que ya tenemos aprobada (por la Junta de Andalucía) desde finales de agosto, una arena que se va a obtener del dragado del río Guadiaro”. “Desde

el Ayuntamiento -continuó- hemos solicitado que esta cantidad se incremente hasta los 40.000 metros cúbicos, que es la cantidad que los técnicos estiman que es necesaria para la playa.

Recordar que el pasado 4 de abril, el subdelegado del Gobierno Central en Cádiz, Javier de Torre, confirmó en una visita realizada a la Playa de Sotogrande que el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente verterá 10.000 metros cúbicos de los 20.000 autorizados a día de hoy, y se comprometió a colaborar en

nuevos aportes una vez que se cuente con el permiso pertinente.

La visita se llevó a cabo en uno de los dos espigones cuya construcción ha promovido y proyectado el Ayuntamiento, y han financiado los residentes en la zona. Estos espigones tienen como objetivo evitar la pérdida de arena por la erosión marina, y la idea municipal es aportar 20.000 metros cúbicos de este material antes de comenzar el verano y, en función de los resultados, aumentar la cantidad hasta 40.000.

It will be recalled that on 4th April last, the subdelegate of the Central Government, in Cádiz, Javier de Torre, confirmed on a visit to Sotogrande Beach that the Ministry

of the Environment would deposit 10,000 of the 20,000 cubic metres that have so far been authorized, and promised to assist with further deliveries once relevant permissions were forthcoming. The visit took place on one of the two breakwaters planned and promoted by the Council, which have been financed by local residents.

The purpose of the breakwaters is to avoid the loss of sand due to marine erosion, and the council’s intention is to bring in 20,000 cubic metres before the beginning of the summer and to increase this to 40,000 cubic metres, depending on what happens.

Sale a subasta una parcela en la Av. Los Cortijos de Sotogrande El Juzgado de 1ª Instancia Nº 97 de Madrid autorizó, después de dos atrasos anteriores, a continuar con el procedimiento de subasta determinado para una parcela situada en la Avenida de Los Cortijos de Sotogrande.

Este inmueble se encuentra situado en el Nº 15 de Los Cortijos y se podrá pujar por el mismo de manera electrónica (a través de Internet) en el Portal de Subastas del Ministerio de Presidencia durante un plazo acordado de 20 días naturales, que darán inicio una vez salga publicado la resolución en el Boletín Oficial del Estado (BOE), algo que ocurrirá en los próximos días.

El tipo de inmueble en cuestión se trata de una parcela de 7.582 metros cuadrados con un valor de subasta de 356.002,02 euros (con un valor de tasación de 654.000 euros).

Esta subasta viene determinada de la decidida actuación y esfuerzos legales que se están llevando a cabo por parte de la Entidad Urbanística de Conservación Parques de Sotogrande para reducir las cifras de morosidad existentes vinculadas a propietarios. La Entidad lleva ya varios años realizando numerosas reclamaciones por las vías civil y administrativa que están dando como resultado la resolución de subasta de propiedades por impago de cuotas a la EUC. El pasado año, la EUC informó de que tenía reclamados un total de 876 expedientes (582 por la vía civil y 294 por la ejecutiva), la mayoría de ellos pertenecientes a 31 propietarios, de los cuales 20 son sociedades (en gran cuota de carácter urbanístico). La primera de las subastas de este tipo se llevó a cabo el pasado 14 de enero de 2015, la cual finalmente no se produjo al abonar el propietario al deuda días antes.

Plot of land on Avenida Los Cortijos in Sotogrande goes up for auction Following two previous setbacks, the Court of 1st Instance No.97 of Madrid authorized going ahead with proceedings to auction a plot of land located on Avenida de Los Cortijos in Sotogrande.

The property is located at No.15 on Los Cortijos, and it is possible to bid for it electronically (over the internet) at the Auction Port of the Ministry of the Presidency during an agreed period of 20 calendar days, which will begin once the ruling has been published in the Official State Bulletin, which will take place in the next few days.

The type of property in question is a plot of land of 7582 square metres with an auction value of 356,002.02 euros (it has an assessed value of 654,000 euros).

This auction has resulted from the resolute actions and legal efforts that are being carried out by the Urban Conservation Entity for the Parks of Sotogrande in order to reduce the existing debt levels linked to owners.

La III Feria del Atún de Sotogrande se presentó en las instalaciones del Hotel Almenara en Sotogrande. Un evento en el que tanto la Delegación Municipal de Turismo, como Sotogrande S.A. como anfitriona, y el resto de empresas colaboradoras y patrocinadoras de la feria desgranaron a los asistentes todas las novedades y actividades que se llevarán a cabo durante su tercera edición.

La principal de ellas, a diferencia de las dos ediciones anteriores, es que se realizará por partida doble, es decir, durante dos fines de semana consecutivos se celebrará la feria en la Ribera del Marlin, en el Puerto Deportivo de Sotogrande (ubicación del pasado año). Concretamente, del 27 al 29 de mayo

(la primera etapa) y del 3 al 6 de junio, el fin de semana de clausura. En ambas ocasiones y como una de las actividades centrales de la feria, el tradicional ‘roqueo’ de

un atún en directo se hará efectivo en ambos fines de semana.

En total, hasta diez establecimientos participarán en la feria con un espacio propio, además

del de la empresa de salazones Herpac, patrocinador de la cita y uno de los principales promotores del atún de las costas gaditanas. Durante todas las jornadas,

se promoverán actividades paralelas para todos los públicos, además de música en directo y otras sorpresas.

La delegada de Turismo, Dolores Marchena; el director de operaciones de Sotogrande S.A., Stephan Webber; el alcalde de San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix; el representante de Herpac, José María Vázquez; y el representante de Bodegas Barbadillo, Pedro Salas; agradecieron a todos los presentes su asistencia a la presentación y vaticinaron un gran éxito de la tercera edición de la Feria del Atún que con el paso de los años, esperan se convierta en toda una referencia y una de las citas del calendario gastronómico en el sur de Andalucía.

The main feature, unlike the two previous editions, is that the event will take place in two stages, that is to say, it will be held during two consecutive weekends at Ribera del Marlin, at Sotogrande Marina (location of last year’s event). Specifically, it will take place from 27 to 29 May (first stage) and from 3 to 6 June, closing weekend.

On both occasions, and as one of the fair’s central activities, there will be the traditional live preparation of the tuna, which will take place on both weekends.

A total of ten establishments will participate in the fair with their own spaces, as well as the

salting company Herpac, the event sponsor and one of the main backers of tuna on the coast of Cadiz. Over the course of all the days, additional activities will be carried out for everyone, and there will also be live music and other surprises.

Como continuación de nuestro programa de asfaltado se van a ejecutar trabajos de mejora de viales. En esta ocasión los hemos concentrado en los meses de Mayo y Junio y realizarán en diferentes viales de la urbanización.

El trabajo consiste en la reposición de la capa de rodadura y en algunos casos el saneo y la eliminación de raíces que han invadido el vial.

Como siempre continuamos programando nuevas actuaciones, posiblemente incluso dentro de este año, siempre con la mira en no sobrepasar nuestro presupuesto.

Como en anteriores ocasiones, les solicitamos extremen las precauciones cuando circulen por tramos del vial afectados por las obras y cumplan y respeten las indicaciones y señalización del vial afectado.

Tras los trabajos de asfaltado realizaremos el pintado de la señalización horizontal de los viales de la urbanización.

Aumento de la actividad el picudo rojo Con la llegada de las altas temperaturas de la primavera y el verano aumenta también la actividad del Picudo Rojo (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) que tanto daño ya ha causado a muchas palmeras. Por tal motivo y aunque en muchas ocasiones los síntomas se ven meses más tarde, desde la Entidad se informa y solicita a todos los vecinos de Sotogrande que tengan palmeras, fundamentalmente del género Phoenix (canarias o datileras), que intensifiquen durante estos meses los tratamientos contra estos insectos ya que es ahora cuando el número de vuelos y por tantos puestas e infecciones es mayor. Aumentando ahora el cuidado sobre nuestras palmeras conseguiremos una gran reducción de palmeras contagiadas en los meses de octubre y noviembre.

Increased activity from the red palm weevil

New road maintenance plan As a continuation of our surfacing plan, road improvement work is going to be carried out. On this occasion it will be concentrated over the months of May and June and will be carried out on different roads in the resort.

roads.

As always, we continue to program new actions, possibly event this year, and always while trying not to exceed our budget.

Just like on previous occasions, we would request you to take extra care when driving of stretches of road affected by work and to comply with and respect advice and

signing on the affected roads.

Following the surfacing work, we will carry out the horizontal sign painting of roads in the resort.

With the arrival of high temperatures in spring and summer, there is also an increase in the activity of red palm weevils (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) that have already caused so much damage to many palm trees. For that reason, and although on many occasions the symptoms are only seen months later, the Entity wishes to inform, and request that all residents in Sotogrande that have palm tree, mainly from the Phoenix genus (canariensis and date palms) that they should intensify their treatments over the coming months against these insects as now is the time with the most flights, and therefore laying and infection. By increasing the level of care now on our palm trees we will manage to greatly reduce the number of infected palm trees during the months of October and November.

Campaña de desbroce y limpieza de zonas verdes ✑ Redacción

Como todos los años, para evitar riesgos de incendios ante la llegada de las altas temperaturas del verano, la Entidad ha puesto en marcha la campaña de desbroce y limpieza de zonas verdes. Estos trabajos se realizarán fundamentalmente mediante desbroce mecanizado apoyados por medios manuales en aquellas zonas de mayor detalle o difícil acceso.

La Entidad también recuerda a los propietarios de parcelas

sin edificar la necesidad del cumplimiento de la “Ordenanza Municipal Reguladora de la Limpieza y Vallado de Solares y Terrenos” del ayuntamiento de San Roque. Ésta obliga al desbroce y vallado perimetral de todo este tipo de parcelas.

Para facilitar las actuaciones, la EUC pone a disposición de los vecinos tanto asesoramiento técnico como contacto con diferentes empresas para realizar los trabajos.

Consistorio y Verdemar coinciden en su oposición al fondeadero frente a Sotogrande El nuevo plan de acción de la Autoridad Portuaría Bahía de Algeciras proyecta un fondeadero que se situaría frente a las playas de Alcaidesa, Borondo, Guadalquitón, Sotogrande, Torreguadiaro y Cala Sardina

El Equipo de Gobierno sanroqueño y Verdemar-Ecologistas en Acción mostraron su postura contraaria al fondeadero que propone la Autoridad Portuaria Bahía de Algeciras para el litoral mediterráneo del municipio (entre Alcaidesa y Cala Sardina), es decir, frente a Sotogrande. Éste se situaría frente a las playas de Alcaidesa, Borondo, Guadalquitón, Sotogrande, Torreguadiaro y Cala Sardina.

El primer edil, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, se entrevistó con la nueva presidenta de Verdemar, Raquel Ñeco (que ostentó esta responsabilidad hace unos años), Antonio Muñoz y Pedro Pérez. En la reunión se pusieron sobre la mesa algunos asuntos que preocupan a la asociación ecologista, fundamentalmente en el término municipal sanroqueño, tales como la implatanción de dicha zona de fondeadero o la necesidad de productivas estrategias contra incendios.

Ruiz Boix reconoció que existe “una preocupación que compartimos con Verdemar, referida al nuevo plan de acción de delimitación de espacios que está haciendo la Autoridad Portuaria Bahía de Algeciras. Tiene la idea de ubicar

un fondeadero de barcos en el litoral entre La Línea y Manilva, de manera que se situaría frente a las playas de Alcaidesa, Borondo, Guadalquitón, Sotogrande, Torreguadiaro y Cala Sardina. Desde el Equipo de Gobierno no estamos de acuerdo con ese fondeadero porque supone entrar en conflicto con uno de los sectores productivos principales del municipio como es el sector turístico deportivo”, recalcó Ruiz Boix.

El regidor sanroqueño se refirió también a la coincidencia entre Ayuntamiento y Verdemar en nuestra preocupación respecto a los incendios forestales. “Cada año San Roque figura en los primeros puestos de la provincia de Cádiz en número de fuegos de este tipo.

Por este motivo, estamos en conversaciones con todas las entidades que se dedican a la prevención de incendios para que antes de que se inicie la temporada de mayor riesgo, los meses de julio y agosto, se lleven a cabo los trabajos oportunos. Ojalá consigamos que este año San Roque no sea noticia por los fuegos en el campo”.

Por su parte, Raquel Ñeco explicó que ha incorporado

a su junta directiva a coordinadores de todos los municipios del Campo de Gibraltar y del propio Gibraltar, con el objetivo de “velar por el medio ambiente y la salud de los habitantes de la comarca”.

Adelantó que pretende “mantener reuniones con todos los alcaldes de la comarca. Pero entendíamos que la primera reunión debería ser, como así ha sido, con el alcalde de San Roque, porque es la ciudad donde tenemos nuestra sede”. Ñeco manifestó su deseo de “una comunicación más directa entre nuestro colectivo y el Ayuntamiento, al objeto de que nuestra labor no tenga que ser a base de denuncias, sino a través del trabajo y la comunicación”. Ñeco entiende que “San Roque, desde el punto de vista ambiental, tiene un gran peso en la comarca, al soportar en su término la mayoría de las industrias pesadas, así como unos parajes naturales dignos de cuidar”.

Therefore, we are in discussions with all of the bodies that work to prevent fires in order to carry out the necessary work before the most risky period begins, namely, the months of July and August. We hope that San Roque will not appear in the news this year as a result of country fires”.

In turn, Raquel Ñeco explained that this governing body has incorporated coordinators from all of the municipalities of Campo de Gibraltar and Gibraltar itself, with the aim of “looking after the environment and the health of inhabitants in the region”.

She disclosed that they want to “hold meetings with all of the mayors in the region. However, we believed that the first meeting would have to be as it has been, with the mayor of San Roque, because that is the city where we have our central office”. Ñeco outlined her desire to have “more direct communication between our group and the Council, for the purpose of showing that our work does not need to be based around complaining, but rather, focused on work and communication”. Ñeco believes that “San Roque, from an environmental point of view, has a lot of significance in the region, as the municipality is home to the majority of heavy industry, as well as some natural areas that are really worth looking after”.

Contasult colabora en Sotogrande con Allianz y Marc Márquez en la recogida de alimentos 1 M. Gil

La empresa Contasult Asesores, con sede en Sotogrande, colabora de la mano de la multinacional Allianz y el bicampeón del mundo de Moto GP Marc Márquez en la nueva campaña solidaria a través de Laps for Life 93. Esta vez, vuelven a impulsar una recogida de alimentos bajo el lema, “Demos la lata contra el hambre”.

Las oficinas de Contasult servirán de punto de recogida de alimentos, tanto en Algeciras como en Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro (Av. Los Canos, Nº52), durante

todo el mes de mayo.

La campaña consiste en recoger aquellos alimentos que más echan en falta desde los Bancos de Alimentos y otras entidades sociales: alimentos en lata (atún, sardinas, tomate frito, cacao en polvo, leche en polvo, legumbres, potitos, etc.). El objetivo es lograr una campaña tan exitosa como la de 2015: ¡más de 60 toneladas!

En este caso, la campaña comenzará el lunes, 1 de mayo y se prolongará hasta el 31 de mayo. Las fechas no están cogidas al azar.

En los próximos meses los niños dejan de tener una comida al día asegurada al estar de vacaciones y por eso es importante que los bancos de alimentos tengan las estanterías llenas.

Allianz donará 10.000 euros a la Fundación Española de Bancos de Alimentos si se acerca a las 60 toneladas de comida, pero subirá esta cifra a 15.000 euros si se sobrepasan esas 60 toneladas, e incluso llegará a los 20.000 euros de donación en caso de que, entre todos, se alcancen las 75 toneladas de alimentos.

Puerto de Sotogrande lleva a cabo un simulacro contra el derrame de combustible 1 Redacción

Puerto Sotogrande, S.A., dentro de las acciones incluidas en el Plan de Contingencias Contra la Contaminación Marina y su Sistema de Gestión Integral, Calidad norma ISO 9001 y Ambiental ISO 14001, llevó a cabo un simulacro donde se activaron los efectivos para una alerta de derrame de hidrocarburos de una de las embarcaciones de la empresa colaboradora de charter y escuela de formación náutica, Alavela.

El procedimiento comenzó con el aviso a la Torre de Control de un posible derrame de hi-

drocarburo al mar por una embarcación atracada en el muelle del Dique de Levante, amarre número 1, afectada por una vía de agua. A partir de esa llamada, el Director de Operaciones alertó a todos los departamentos y se activó el nivel 1 de emergencia, con el despliegue por parte de Marinería de la barrera absorbente con faldón alrededor de la embarcación.

Ante una posible contaminación de las playas adyacentes se elevó nivel de emergencia fase 2y comunicó al 112 por vertido para

la activación del Plan Territorial de Contingencias de la Junta de Andalucía, que en adelante coordinarían las actuaciones.

El simulacro concluyó con la reunión requerida por el Plan de Contingencias PICCMA, coordinada por el Director Gerente, Miguel Ángel Diez García, con todos los departamentos y autoridades que participan y asisten al mismo, cuyo resultado fue muy favorable, habiéndose incorporado mejoras en los procedimientos operativos y de comunicaciones.

Sotogrande Marina holds fuel spillage drill Sotogrande Marina, S.A., within the actions included in the Contingency Plan Against Marine Pollution and its Integrated Management System, Quality ISO 9001 and Environmental ISO 14001, conducted a drill in which forces were activated by an alert of an oil spill from one

of the charter parent company and nautical training school, Alavela.

The procedure began with a warning from the Control Tower of a possible oil spill into the sea from a boat moored in the Dique de Levante dock, mooring 1, affected by a waterway.

After this call, the Director of Operations alerted all departments at Emergency Level 1 was activated, as the seamen deployed the absorbent barrier around the boat.

Faced with a potential contamination of the adjoining beaches, the level was raised to emergen-

cy phase 2 and communicated to 112 of the spillage through the activation of the Andalusian Regional Government Territorial Contingency Plan, which henceforth governed proceedings.

The drill concluded with the meeting required by the PICCMA Contingency Plan, coor-

dinated by the Managing Director, Miguel Ángel Diez García, with all the departments and authorities who participated in attendance, the result of which was very favourable, having incorporated improvements in the operational and communications procedures.

El estado del viario en la zona alta de Pueblo Nuevo preocupa a los vecinos

The deficient and advanced state of abandonment of some of the roads and streets in the upper area of Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro (specially on the streets: Altamira, Bailén, Almenara, Arcos, …, among others); is a matter of considerable concern for residents in the area.

For more than a year, this newspaper has been drawing attention to this precarious situation, especially in the area around the waste deposit area (normally full of waste and furniture that accumulates over the course of time), that is located in the central stretch of Calle Altamira. The untended growth of vegetation on footpaths and roads, also makes it difficult to walk on them, as the vegetation is unmanaged.

El deficitario y avanzado estado de abandono de algunos de los viarios y calles de la zona alta de Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro (en especial en las calles: Altamira, Bailén, Almenara, Arcos, …, entre otras); preocupa de manera notable a los vecinos del recinto.

Este medio, desde hace más de un año, viene haciéndose eco de esta precaria imagen especialmente en el área colindante al depósito de basuras (habitualmente atestado de residuos y mobiliario que se acumulan con el paso de los días), que se ubica en el tramo

También el descuidado crecimiento de la vegetación en acerado y viales, sin controlar este aspecto que también dificulta el caminar por ellos.

Esta situación de dejadez, además de la pobre imagen que deja de la zona siendo el valor turístico uno de sus principales exponentes y motor generador de riquezas y desarrollo en todo el Valle, pone en serias dificultades a las personas que transitan peatonalmente a diario por dichas calles.

niños y demás situaciones similares, ven como se convierte en toda una aventura poder pasar por estos viarios sin tener que invadir la carretera.

Una situación a la que poner solución, pese a que nivel municipal se argumenta una detallada atención en servicios a todos los puntos del entorno.

Los encuentros, durante Fitur 2016, establecen una estrategia común para la promoción de la cultura ecuestre de ambos destinos

Se constituye una comisión que unirá Sotogrande y Jerez a través del mundo del caballo 1 Manuel Gil

La cultura del caballo une, una vez, más, Sotogrande y Jerez. La delegada de Turismo, Dolores Marchena, participó en Jerez de la constitución de una comisión paritaria para promocionar los municipios de San Roque y Jerez en el mundo del caballo. La comisión se encuentra integrada tanto a nivel técnico como político por ambos ayuntamientos.

Esta comisión es fruto de los contactos mantenidos en enero en la Feria Internacional de Turismo (FITUR) en Madrid, donde se acordó realizar promociones conjuntas entre San Roque, con Sotogrande y el polo como uno de sus máximos exponentes, y Jerez bajo el paraguas del mundo del caballo. La cita selló una comisión que permitirá un intercambio directo y fluído de información, con el ob-

jetivo de difundir y promocionar ambos destinos turísticos.

“Con este convenio pretendemos San Roque y Jerez contribuir a un mayor conocimiento del apasionante mundo del caballo y, además, promocionar los atractivos turísticos que conlleva. La ciudad de Jerez es internacionalmente conocida por su Real Escuela Andaluza de Arte Ecuestre, cuyo espectáculo ‘Cómo bailan los caballos andaluces’ recibe alrededor de 150.000 visitas cada año, lo que lo convierte en un referente turístico de primer nivel”, detalló Marchena.

“En cuanto a San Roque -añadió-, existen varias asociaciones de caballistas repartidas por distintos núcleos de población. Además, también contamos con importantes instalaciones dedicadas al

deporte de la hípica, pero sobre todo somos una verdadera potencia mundial en el mundo del polo”. “Instalaciones como las de Santa María Polo -continuó- son un referente internacional, y existen proyectos para aprovechar aún más esta fuente de riqueza y empleo. Sin olvidar el torneo de verano de esta entidad, cuya Copa de Oro ha sido incluida en el Gran Slam, siendo la única prueba de este circuito en la Europa Continental. El verano pasado se llegó a casi 90.000 espectadores, una cifra nada desdeñable, a la que hay que sumar su proyección en medios de comunicación internacionales”.

She added, “With regard to San Roque, there are several equestrian associations spread over different population centres. Also, we have significant facilities dedicated to the sport of riding, but above

all, we are a real world benchmark in polo”. Facilities such as the ones at Santa María Polo Club are an international benchmark, and there are projects to take even further advantage of this source of wealth and employment. We should not forget about this entity’s summer tournament, as its Gold Cup has been included in the Grand Slam, making it the only event in Continental Europe to feature on this circuit. Last summer, almost 90,000 spectators came, a highly significant number. Additionally, the tournament has a great impact through international media”.

La Atlantic Gate Rally 2016 en Sotogrande toma forma Tras el gran éxito de la primera edición, en octubre pasado, Sotogrande volverá a acoger este año la II Regata Puerta del Atlántico (Atlantic Gate Rally). La regata, que une San Antonio (Ibiza) con Marina Rubicón (Lanzarote), haciendo escala en Almerimar y Sotogrande, adelanta la fecha de salida para 2016 respecto a la edición de 2015.

En concreto, el día 16 de octubre de 2016 partirán los barcos desde el Club Nàutic de Sant Antoni, es decir, 10 días antes que el año pasado. El objetivo, entre otros, es disfrutar de un clima más suave para la travesía de 1.000 millas a través del Mediterráneo y el Atlántico. Y además, permitir que las embarcaciones alcancen las Islas Canarias con más antelación.

La delegada de Turismo, Dolores Marchena, mantuvo un encuentro con los responsables de la organización de la II Regata Puerta del Atlántico (Atlantic Gate Rally) para preparar tanto las actividades que se ofrecerán a los regatistas como la estrategia de comunicación de esta competición. El objetivo es que la difusión del Destino Sotogrande y San Roque llegue a los aficionados a los deportes náuticos de toda Europa.

Así lo explicó Marchena al término del encuentro que mantuvo esta semana con Antonio Escribano, director de la Atlantic Gate Rally, y con Manuel Salazar, director de operaciones de la misma. “Concretamos algunas de las actividades que se organizarán especialmente para los regatistas. Estamos seguros de que conseguiremos el apoyo de las empresas turísticas de la zona para ofrecer de nuevo una oferta de alta calidad. En cuanto a Puerto Sotogrande, que acogerá la regata, tenemos la total seguridad de que volverá a colocar el listón muy alto, de manera que el año próximo la organización de la regata elija otra vez sus instalaciones para esta prueba”, dijo.

This was explained by Marchena at the end of the meeting that she held this week with Antonio Escribano, director of the Atlantic Gate Rally, and with Manuel Salazar, its director of operations.

“We specified some of the activities that will be organized, especially for the sailors. We are sure that we will obtain the support of tourism companies in the area in order to once again provide high quality activities. As for the Port of Sotogrande, which will host the regatta, we are absolutely certain that the bar will once again be set very high, in order to ensure that the regatta chooses its facilities once again next year for the event”, she said.

“El desarrollo de grandes proyectos turísticos en el municipio será clave en la creación de empleo ” 1 Manuel Gil

El primer edil de San Roque se sienta con El Periódico de Sotogrande para hacer balance de los primeros doce meses de su segunda legislatura, la primera en mayoría absoluta, y analizar los problemas y proyectos que más afectan al municipio.

Hace justamente un año hablábamos de la consecución de la mayoría absoluta (PSOE) en San Roque. Doce meses después, ¿qué balance hace hasta el momento?

Los retos no se han alejado demasiado a los propuestos durante la primera legislatura aunque trámites y gestiones más sencillas sí logran avanzar de manera más rápida. La institución marcha bien aunque debemos seguir trabajando para que esta mejoría llegue al total de los vecinos; queda mucho por hacer.

Siempre que hablamos sobre los grandes desafíos de este equipo de gobierno destaco tres puntos: empleo, políticas sociales y la capacidad de atraer inversiones que generen a su vez empleo y riqueza en el municipio. Precisamente, en este último punto, contar con un gobierno local sólido, con una mayoría absoluta que cree pocas incertidumbres, es sinónimo de garantía para un inversor. Estamos viendo que tanto en el plano logístico, con el desarrollo industrial del Polígono de Guadarranque, como en el turístico, con varios proyectos como el Casino, sector hotelero, Distrito Equino

en el Valle del Guadiaro,…, permitirán la creación de un importante número de puestos de trabajo. Además, sin ser una competencia directa de un gobierno municipal; ni este Ayuntamiento ni este Alcalde van a rehuir de ese compromiso con los vecinos. Para este año hemos incrementado en un 15% la partida en el presupuesto para los empleos temporales que alcanzarán los 750.000 euros, por lo que se podrá alcanzar la cifra de 83 personas contratadas.

En esta segunda legislatura compaginará sus labores en Alcaldía con la vicepresidencia de la Diputación Provincial. ¿De qué manera influirá esta situación en el municipio?

Supone una nueva tarea y un nuevo reto que asumo gracias al apoyo de los votantes tanto en San Roque como en toda la provincia. Lógicamente, en esta situación, podré disponer de más recursos en materia económica y con una actuación ecuánime, con todos los municipios de la provincia, la Diputación estará muy presente en San Roque, es más, me atrevería a decir que nunca lo ha estado más. Colabora con las actividades del Aniversario de Ortega Brú, Juan Luis Galiardo, Campeonatos del Mundo de Vela, el Open de España de Golf en Valderrama, con colectivos sociales,…, suma en positivo para los sanroqueños.

También se involucrará, con su partido, en la campaña para las próximas Elecciones Generales del 26 de junio…

Es de agradecer, por parte de los compañeros del Partido Socialista, la confianza que han depositado al encargarme la coordinación provincial de la campaña. Es una responsabilidad que asumo, no sin algo de vértigo, para mantener por quinta vez consecutiva la vic-

toria del PSOE en Cádiz, alcanzar al menos los 3 diputados y sumar 3 senadores. Logrando así el reto de frenar la política de recortes y precariedad en el estado de bienestar que ha protagonizado el gobierno de Mariano Rajoy y hacer frente a uno populismo que ha bloqueado un gobierno de progreso.

¿Es transparente este Alcalde?

Por supuesto que sí. Soy el alcalde más transparente de la historia de la democracia en San Roque. El problema recae en una oposición más centrada en los procedimientos que en resolver los problemas de los sanroqueños. Una oposición sin propuestas que sumen al beneficio de los vecinos. Las

peticiones de información solicitadas a este Ayuntamiento superan la suma de todas las solicitudes en los seis ayuntamientos restantes de la comarca. ¿Cuál es su plan de acción en Hacienda?

Vamos a seguir manteniendo unos impuestos muy bajos, situados en los rangos más bajos de la provincia de Cádiz.

Y continuaremos con criterios de eficiencia, eficacia y austeridad prestando los servicios que demandan los vecinos.

Aunque tenemos servicios que son mejorables: limpieza, jardinería, seguridad…, siempre y cuando contemos con todos los ingresos disponibles que tiene este Ayuntamiento. Con este Alcalde se ha posibilitado una reducción de la deuda bancaria desde los 57 millones de euros hasta los 15 millones, actualmente. Este Alcalde siempre trabajará para contar con los más altos niveles de calidad en políticas sociales, de servicios, culturales y deportivas.

¿Le preocupa la ubicación de un fondeadero frente al litoral mediterráneo?

Me preocupa y hemos presentado alegaciones al plan de la Autoridad Portuaria Bahía de Algeciras a lo que entendemos como un ataque frontal a uno de los grandes pilares de la economía local: el turismo. Ya se sacrificó una Bahía que en su día se dedicó al uso industrial y no estamos dispuestos a que eso ocurra y afecte a un gran motor generador de riqueza y empleo como es el sector turístico en el Valle del Guadiaro.

Espero que el raciocinio se imponga finalmente y así lo creo.

Inmersos en mayo y sigue sin ejecutarse el aporte de arena en la playa de Sotogrande.

The mayor of San Roque sat down with El Periódico de Sotogrande in order to assess the first twelve months of his second term in office, the first with an absolute majority, and in order to analyse the problems and projects that are most affecting the municipality Precisely a year ago, we were talking about the absolute majority obtained by the PSOE in San Roque. Twelve months afterwards, what is your assessment of the period up until now?

The challenges have not differed much from the proposals during the first legislature although simpler procedures and management is helping to make progress quicker. The institution is doing well although we must keep working in order for this improvement to reach all residents; there is a lot to do.

You made employent your main aim, is that how you have continued…

Whenever we talk about the big challenges of this government team, I highlight three points: employment, social policies and the ability to attract investments that create employment and wealth in the municipality simultaneously. In terms of the last point, having a solid local government with an absolutely majority that creates little uncertainty, is synonymous with the guarantees of an investor. We see that on a logistics level, with the development of the Guadarranque Industrial Park, as well as with tourism, with several projects such as the Casino, the hotel sector, the Equine District in Valle del Guadiaro… will make it possible to create a significant number of jobs. Also, without being a direct competitor of a municipal government; neither this Council or the Mayor’s Office are going to flee from our commitment to residents.

This year, we have had a 15% increase in the increase for the budget for temporary jobs, which will rise to 750,000 euros, therefore it will be possible to reach the figure of 83 people employed.

During this second legislature you will share your Mayoral work with that of the vice-presidency of the Provincial Government. How will this situation affect the municipality?

It is a new task and a new challenge that I am taking on thanks to the support of voters in San Roque and throughout the entire province. Logically, in this situation, I will be able to have more financial resources and act impartially, with all of the municipalities in the province, the Government will have a real presence in San Roque. Moreover, I would dare to say, that it has never been more present. It is collaborating with the activities of the Anniversary of Ortega Brú, Juan Luis Galiardo, World Sailing Championships, the Spanish Golf Open at Valderrama, with social groups… it is having a positive effect on people in San Roque.

With your party you will also be involved in the campaign for the next General Election on 26 June…

I am grateful for the trust that my colleagues from the PSOE have placed in me by putting me in charge of provincial coordination of the campaign.

It is a responsibility that I take on, not without a little trepidation, in order to maintain a PSOE victory in Cadiz

transparent mayor of the history of San Roque” for the fifth consecutive time, obtain at least 3 members of parliament and 3 senators. This would enable us to obtain our goal of stopping the policy of populism that blocked a progressive government.

Is this Mayor’s office transparent?

Of course it is. I am the most transparent mayor of the democratic era in San Roque. The problems arise from opposition that is more focused on procedures than on resolving the problems of people in San Roque.

The opposition do not have proposals that aid the residents. The requests for information made to this Council exceed the total of all the requests in the six other councils in the region.

What is your action plan in terms of taxation?

We are going to keep taxes very low, among the lowest in the province of Cadiz. We will continue with the criteria of effectiveness, efficiency and austerity, providing the services that are requested by residents. Although

we have services that can be improved: cleaning, gardening, safety….

Whenever we have all of the available income that this Council has.

With this mayor’s office, it has been possible to reduce bank debt from 57 million euros to 15 million at present.

This Mayor’s Office will always work in order to have the highest levels of quality in terms of policies for social matters, services, culture and sport.

Are you concerned about the locating of an anchorage opposite the Mediterranean coastline?

I am concerned and we have commented upon the plans of the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras, and what we understand as a frontal attack on one of the great pillars of the local economy: tourism. One Bay that was once used for industrial purposes was already sacrificed and we are not willing to let that happen an affect a great driving force behind the creation of wealth and employment, i.e. the tourism sector in Valle del Guadiaro. I hope that reason will win out and that is what I think will happen.

We are now well into May and the provision of sand on Sotogrande beach has still not been carried out.

The Coastal Demarcation Department, along with the Government’s provincial delegate Javier de Torre,

has still not carried out the provision of 10,00 cubic metres of sand that it promised to. Furthermore, it did not respond positively to the request for a further 20,000 cubic metres that were requested and not provided. In view of the neglect and laziness of the Mi-

The Los Pinos development, progress at La Reserva, new commercial land at the entrance to Sotogrande… is the intensity of tourism related projects increasing?

Another level of interest and development is being seen with this commercial and residential land at these points in the municipality, with greater progress in terms of tourism although in a very nascent way. There is the luxury hotel project in Los Pinos, an investment of around 300 million euro is expected for next year; there is the planning of a shopping centre at the entrance to Avenida Pa-

niagua, the expansion of Sotogrande in the La Reserva area and several development projects in Alcaidesa.

These are symptoms of a produce level of recovery in terms of tourism in Sotogrande.

What about the TG-22 plot in Torreguadiaro?

This Council will respect the law and will not carry out any confrontational actions aside from applying the established processes and rulings.

However, in order to do that it will be necessary to have autonomy, without the constant resources of the two companies in conflict.

At what stage is the recovery process in terms of responsibilities for water and waste?

We are immersed in making the process a reality; we are increasing municipal spending by approximately 6 million euros and have a larger team of staff, about one hundred people.

Reports showed that it is favourable to recover and take on responsibilities for these services and we are working on the legality of how to finish this process. The aim is to have quality services and reduce the costs of water and waste bills.

The City Anniversary, the Tuna Fair, fairs in different neighbourhoods…, we have some very appealing and attractive months coming up in the municipality.

We will celebrate the 310th anniversary of the City of San Roque with the traditional Extraordinary Plenary Session which will acknowledge the work of people and entities that stand out for their contribution to the municipality, and as a new feature, we will have a re-enactment of how the city was founded.

Also, following the previous two positive editions at the Tuna Fair, we are doubling the number of days and we expect lots of visitors that will come to enjoy n event that is already an important attraction.

Of course, the impact of the fair campaigns on the wealth of the municipality with enormous dispersion will enable us to experience nine fairs that residents and visitors will enjoy thanks to an exceptional campaign. All of this will be accompanied with activities, concert and lots more that has been prepared for the spring and summer campaign in San Roque.

Sin embargo, como recordó hace poco The Economist, el posible abandono tendría impacto sobre la propia Unión Europea, y sobre España: los dos primeros exportadores europeos al Reino Unido son, en porcentaje del PIB, Irlanda y Países Bajos, pero los si-

guientes son España y Alemania. También el Brexit podría afectar a Sotogrande, por su antigua y estrecha relación con los británicos, que representan un porcentaje elevado de los extranjeros que viven en nuestra comunidad, y también de nuestros visitantes, turistas e inversores.

Las conjeturas sobre los resultados del Brexit normalmente recurren a lo que los economistas llamamos el supuesto ceteris paribus, es decir, suponer que se van los británicos y las demás cosas no varían. De ahí las estimaciones que hemos visto sobre los efectos económicos y políticos de la salida en términos de menos comercio, menos turismo, menos empleo, menos inversiones, más populismo y más euroescepticismo. Las consecuencias serían negativas para el Reino Unido, el resto de Europa, España y Sotogrande.

Sin embargo, nadie sabe si va a ser necesariamente así, porque desconocemos el futuro, y porque suponer que nada va a cambiar es cómodo pero irreal. Por ejemplo, toda Europa se ha acostumbrado a mantener intercambios económicos cada vez más sencillos y baratos. ¿Toleraríamos que los políticos se embarcaran en una carrera proteccionista como la vivida en los años 1930, cuando ahora llevamos décadas de un comercio cada vez más libre que ha beneficiado a los británicos y al resto de Europa? No lo creo.

Por tanto, convendrá prestar atención a la orientación de las políticas, con o sin Brexit, en el Reino Unido y en los demás países, porque unas economías más intervenidas tendrán efectos económicos negativos en todas las circunstancias y para todas las partes.

¿Qué impresiones deja la celebración del Open de España de Golf en Valderrama?

La 90 edición del Open de España de Golf, como ya es conocido por casi todos los lectores de este medio, se celebró durante mediados de abril en el mítico trazado del Real Club Valderrama, en buena parte motivado por la colaboración

tanto de del propio club como del Circuito Europeo de Golf, la Real Federación Española de Golf y la Fundación Sergio García, liderada por el reconocido golfista.

Una cita que rememoró y trajo de regreso a Sotogrande gran-

des jornadas de golf como las que acostumbraba la zona hasta el paréntesis de competiciones internacionales, protagonista en el último lustro. Torneos y días de golf no sólo disfrutados por los muchos amantes de este deporte residentes en Soto-

grande y todo su entorno, sino por los muchos aficionados y turistas que solían desplazarse hasta este privilegiado destino para disfrutar de un evento de gran nivel.

– Fundación Sergio García, recuperó este sello y por ello, en su sección de ‘La Ventana de Opinión’, El Periódico de Sotogrande quiso recopilar las impresiones de varios visitantes que disfrutaron durante el torneo de una estancia en la zona.

The 90th edition of the Spanish Golf Open, as almost all readers of this paper already know, took place at the legendary Real Club Valderrama course, midway through April, largely thanks to the collaboration of the club itself, as well as the

The event brought to mind great days of golf, and marked the return of golf events that the area

was used to holding until the break in international competitions that has taken place over the last five years. These tournaments and days of golf were enjoyed by many lovers of this sport that reside in Sotogrande and all of the

surrounding area, as well as lots of fans and tourists that used to come to this privileged destination in order to enjoy a top level event.

this hallmark, and consequently, in its “Window of Opinion” section, El Periódico de Sotogrande wanted to compile the impressions of several visitors that enjoyed a stay in the area during the tournament.

Sotosol Walk & Run celebra una nueva edición el 28 de mayo Este año la marcha solidaria cambia de itinerario y se realizará en el interior de la Urbanización de Sotogrande 1 Manuel Gil

El próximo sábado, 28 de mayo, se celebrará una nueva edición en Sotogrande de la ya tradicional marcha solidaria anual ‘Sotosol Walk and Run’, a beneficio de la ONG Danii Charity. Una carrera que cuenta como principal novedad su cambio de itinerario, en esta ocasión se llevará a cabo por el interior de la Urbanización, concretamente, con salida desde Trocadero Sotogrande y meta, como cada año, en el Puerto de Sotogrande (The Lemon Sotogrande).

Una actividad solidaria prevista

para toda la familia. Este año se esperan más de 700 participantes en esta cita solidaria que dará comienzo a partir de las nueve de la mañana en Trocadero con la ya clásica clase de Zumba. Tras ello (no es necesario inscribirse con antelación, por 10 euros puede hacerse en el punto de salida la misma mañana), comenzará la marcha por las calles de Sotogrande.

En esta edición, se podrá elegir realizar el recorrido (andado o corriendo), en una o dos ocasiones, es decir, una sola vuelta que consta de

8 kilómetros o bien realizar dos.

El objetivo es conseguir superar la cifra de fondos recogidos durante la edición de 2015, que fue de un total de 17.000 euros, con los que Danii Charity pudo colaborar con más de 150 jóvenes tratados por cáncer.

Son muchas las empresas y entidades colaboradoras y patrocinadoras del evento que prepararán regalos y actividades paralelas durante un intenso y divertido sábado en familia, con deporte y solidaridad en Sotogrande.

Un acceso a Torrecarbonera y el desarrollo residencial y hotelero, claves de futuro para Alcaidesa El alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, mantuvo, una reunión con el nuevo accionariado de Alcaidesa, Costain, en la que se analizaron distintos asuntos de ámbito urbanístico. La realización, ya en marcha, de un nuevo acceso a la playa de Torrecarbonera y un proyecto futuro de desarrollo residencial y hotelero, principales claves Se informó de que existe un plan parcial pendiente de finalizar en distintas actuaciones. La primera, que se está acometiendo ya, consiste en mejorar los accesos del vial a la playa.

Una exigencia, para que todos los vecinos puedan alcanzar la playa conocida como El Faro o Torrecarbonera de una forma más sencilla, sin tener que atravesar parte de la pista de tierra conocida como camino militar.

“Luego hemos visto -explicó el alcalde- el interés por desarrollar algunas parcelas residenciales y hoteleras que aún tienen pendientes, lo que podría provocar mejoras en la actividad económica. La Corporación autoriza la denominación Joseph McMicking para un tramo de la actual Avenida Paniagua en la Urbanización El Pleno aprueba la construcción de un nuevo centro comercial en Sotogrande 1 M. Gil

El Pleno ordinario del mes de abril, de la Corporación de San Roque, aprobó con los votos del PSOE y del PP (con la abstención de SRSSP y PIVG), el documento provisional de Innovación de modificación del área SO-20-D, con el que se autoriza el tratamiento en el desarrollo de suelos para la construcción de un nuevo centro comercial en Sotogrande, como uno de los principales puntos del Pleno.

También se regularizaron las expropiaciones efectuadas por Fomento y la obtención de suelos para dotaciones públicas en una parcela de 8.185 metros cuadrados. En resumen, un proyecto que albergará en la Avenida Paniagua 15.000 metros cuadrados de uso comercial. Se espera que la aprobación definitiva se produzca en seis meses y que en el plazo de un año y medio la empresa promotora pueda ejecutar la plani-

ficación prevista.

En el mismo pleno, con los votos a favor de toda la Corporación, a excepción de SRSSP, se aprobó la denominación de Avenida Joseph McMicking para uno de los tramos de la actual Avenida Paniagua (a la entrada por Sotogrande Alto).

De este modo se quiere recordar la figura de uno de los fundadores y promotores de la Urbanización Sotogrande desde sus inicios.

Campo de Gibraltar Mancomunidad gestionará el ciclo integral del agua en San Roque Club Arcgisa firma el acuerdo de colaboración con la compañía japonesa promotora para la recepción de las instalaciones de San Roque Club 1 M. Gil/Redacción

La empresa pública comarcal Arcgisa, mediante su Consejero delegado, David Gil, formalizó el acuerdo de colaboración con Asahi Kanko, S.A., empresa promotora del proyecto de urbanización de San Roque Club, de forma que se posibilita la subsanación de todas las deficiencias en las infraestructuras de abastecimiento, saneamiento y depuración de esta urbanización junto a Sotogrande. De este modo, tras los trámites pertinentes, pasará a estar adscrita a la Institución Comarcal, para su completa e integral gestión.

Las instalaciones, cedidas por el Ayuntamiento de San Roque, quedan para el servicio de aguas que la Mancomunidad, a través de su empresa pública Arcgisa, presta actualmente en San Roque. El ámbito de aplicación del acuerdo firmado corresponde en exclusividad a dicha urbanización (San Roque Club) e incumbe a aquellas instalaciones que pertenezcan o vayan a pertenecer a la infraestructura hidráu-

lica de la misma, recepcionada y cedida.

Hasta este momento, Asahi Kanko era el gestor del suministro de agua potable para consumo humano al conjunto de urbanizaciones, empresas y usuarios ubicados en la Urbanización, gestionando a su vez un conjunto de instalaciones de almacenamiento, conducciones y distribución de agua de consumo hasta la acometida de los diferentes usuarios. La recepción y cesión posterior así como la gestión integral del servicio por parte de la empresa pública Arcgisa conlleva la obligatoriedad de subsanar por la anterior empresa gestora

las deficiencias existentes en las infraestructuras.

Las necesidades de inversiones para lograr la mejora en dichas infraestructuras de abastecimiento, saneamiento y depuración han sido consensuadas por la empresa Arcgisa y la anterior gestora japonesa, cuantificada con un valor de 1.510.527,23 €. cantidad que será abonada por la empresa japonesa a la compañía mancomunada en seis anualidades, aportando el treinta por ciento en la firma del acuerdo y quedando comprometidos los pagos correspondientes a las anualidades (2017-2021).

Renuevan siete luminarias en Torreguadiaro por tecnología led ✑ M. Gil

El Consistorio sanroqueño está procediendo, de manera gradual, a la modernización del alumbrado público, mediante la instalación de la tecnología led. En este sentido, la empresa municipal Emadesa realizó la instalación de siete luminarias situadas en el acceso a la barriada de Torreguadiaro a la altura de los aparcamientos de la playa.

Además de sustituir estas luminarias que estaban defectuosas por otras con tecnología led, se llevó a cabo la canalización

nueva para soterrar los cables, quitando también el cableado aéreo anterior”.

Esta tecnología, según detalla Obras y Servicios, es mucho más eficiente porque se cifra el ahorro en el coste del suministro eléctrico en alrededor del 35%, sin contar la mejora de tipo medioambiental al ser necesario utilizar menos combustible.

Seven streetlights in Torreguadiaro updated to LED technology The local council in San Roque is undertaking the gradual replacement and modernization of street lighting by upgrading to LED-type lights. La independencia judicial de nuevo Ayer asistimos a la primera reprobación de un Consejero del gobierno andaluz por parte del Parlamento de esta Comunidad Autónoma. El titular de Justicia e Interior de la Junta de Andalucía mereció este castigo por sus 1 Luis Babiano declaraciones sobre Abogados / Lawyers el sistema judicial y Sotogrande su independencia. Es irónico que estas declaraciones, que comparto plenamente, provengan precisamente del responsable de que no se produzca lo que denuncia dentro de su territorio competencial.

Este Fiscal no ha hecho más que decir en público lo que pensamos muchos profesionales del Derecho por no decir la inmensa mayoría. Frases tales como que los jueces de instrucción actúan como si fueran reyes de taifas y que los fiscales no pueden ser independientes porque reciben instrucciones del superior jerárquico son verdades como puños y que ningún profesional del Derecho puede discutir.

Ya tuvimos ocasión de hablar sobre la independencia judicial en un artículo que publicamos en el año 2013 con ocasión de mi participación en una mesa redonda en el Colegio de Abogados de Madrid compartiendo la mesa presidencial con el juez instructor de la Audiencia Nacional, D. Eloy Velasco y con el fiscal en excedencia de la Audiencia Nacional, don Ignacio Gordillo.

La idea argumental de aquel artículo es que se habla de independencia judicial en un solo sentido (independencia para que los jueces adopten sus decisiones libremente) cuando dicho concepto debería ser de doble sentido (independencia para que los jueces no se entrometan en política). Únicamente oigo hablar de la primera acepción pero casi nunca de la segunda.

Hay muchos casos, demasiados, de intromisión del poder político en la esfera judicial y en estas líneas hemos procedido a denunciar los que más escándalos han causado en sociedad. Pero no se puede ser tan ingenuo de creer que la actuación de los jueces es en todo caso neutral con respecto a la política.

Conozco varios casos en nuestra provincia en que algún que otro Juez de Instrucción ha utilizado torticeramente la ley para imputar, hoy investigar, a un político aprovechando que su nombre aparece en la declaración de algún testigo o que se le viera tomando un café con algún investigado, etcétera. Además la imputación se realiza pomposamente para que el investigado goce de todas las garantías procesales que la ley otorga; sabiendo perfectamente el juez de turno que la mera imputación-investigación ya es suficiente para arruinar la carrera de cualquiera.

En este sentido apoyo completamente la afirmación del Consejero de Justicia de que los jueces de instrucción actúan a veces, las menos, como auténticos reyes de tarifas ya que pueden disponer libremente de la fama, patrimonio, libertad y demás derechos de una persona.

Y lo que mi experiencia de 38 años en esta profesión me ha enseñado es que si eres un político tienes cien veces más de probabilidades de terminar teniendo problemas con la justicia que si fueras un no polí-

tico o una persona de escaso o nulo conocimiento popular. Porque también los famosos tienen muchas más probabilidades de terminar en un Juzgado para darle relevancia al Juez que lo ha empitonado. Por tanto, políticos y famosos en general actualmente acabarán teniendo algún que otro problema judicial.

Siempre viene a mi memoria el juez de infausto recuerdo Baltasar Garzón que para mí ha sido la persona que más ha trabajado en contra de la justicia y a favor de la denigración de la misma. Su única idea de la justicia era adquirir notoriedad personal para después poder cobrar más en las conferencias y seminarios que organizaba ¿cómo se puede hablar de independencia judicial en el caso de este juez?

La injusticia de la situación además se agrava con el hecho de que al pobre que le coge por en medio una actuación de este tipo se encuentra absolutamente indefenso. Por de pronto, su imagen pública queda irremediablemente dañada y si, además, se han tomado medidas provisionales sobre su patrimonio, su fortuna queda irremediablemente tocada.

Para evitar situaciones de este tipo proponía en el artículo al que he hecho referencia anteriormente la creación de tribunales pluripersonales (con un mínimo de tres jueces) en sustitución de los actuales jueces unipersonales que serían los que tomaran las decisiones importantes que puedan afectar a las personas tales como prisión provisional, fianzas, embargos y toda la panoplia de medidas cautelares que puedan afectar al patrimonio, dignidad, profesionalidad y libertad de las personas. Me consta que esta idea se incorporó al proyecto de reforma de la ley de enjuiciamiento criminal pero ignoro los motivos por los cuales no pasó los trámites parlamentarios.

Quizás debido a la falta de independencia judicial en el sentido clásico del término.

Judicial Independence Once Again Yesterday, we saw the first condemnation of a Delegate of the Andalusian Government by the Parliament of this Autonomous Community. The chief of Justice and Domestic Affairs of the Regional Government of Andalusia deserved this punishment as a result of the declarations he made about the judicial system and its independence. It is ironic that these declarations, which I fully share, come precisely from the person that it responsible for ensuring that what he is condemning does not happen within his area of regional responsibility.

This Prosecutor has done nothing more than merely say in public what is thought by many legal professionals, if not indeed the immense majority. Phrases such as those that claiming that instruction judges act as if they were kings of Taifas and that prosecutors cannot be independent because they receive instructions from a hierarchical superior, are hard truths that no legal professional could deny.

We already had the chance to talk about judicial independence in an article published in 2013 marking my participation in a round table discussion at the Association of Lawyers in Madrid, sharing the presidential table with the instruction judge of the National Court, Mr Eloy Velasco and with the magistrate on leave from the National Court, Mr Ignacio Gordillo.

The idea argued in that article was that judicial independence is only talked about in a single sense (independence in order for judges to make their decisions freely) when that concept should be thought of in a double sense (independence in order for judges not to get involved in politics). I only hear people

talk about the first acceptance but almost never about the second.

There are lots of cases, too many, of the intrusion of political power within the judicial sphere, and in that sense we have condemned those that have caused most scandals in society.

However, we cannot be naive enough to think that the actions of judges are in all cases neutral in relation to politics.

I know several cases in our province where some Investigating Judges have misused the law in order to charge and investigate a politician, by taking advantage of the fact that their name appears in the declaration of a witness or that they were seen having a coffee with someone that is being investigated, etc. Also, the charging is carried out in a bombastic way so that the person investigated enjoys all the procedural guarantees granted by law, when the judge on duty knows that the mere charging-investigation is enough to ruin anybody’s career. In this regard, I completely support the affirmation of the Justice Chief that investigating judges sometimes act like real kings of taifas as they can freely dispose of the fame, assets, freedom and other rights of a person.

What my 38 years of experience have taught me is that if you are a politician then you are one hundred times more likely to end up having problems with justice than if you are not a politician or someone that is not well-known by the public. Famous people are also much more likely to end up in a Court in order to make the Judge that has caught them more impor-

tant. Therefore, at present, politicians and famous people in general end up having judicial problems.

I always recall the infamous case of the judge Baltasar Garzón, who to my mind has been the person that has done the most to work against justice and in favour of denigrating it. His only concern was obtaining personal notoriety in order to be able to earn more at the conferences and seminaries that he was organising. How is it possible to talk about judicial independence in the case of this judge?

The injustice of the situation is also worsened with the fact that any poor person caught up in a procedure of this nature is absolutely defenceless. Soon, their public image is damaged irremediably and if provisional measures have also been taken against their assets, then their fortune is also affected irremediably affected.

In order to prevent this type of situations, in the article I proposed what I referred to previously, the creation of a multi-person court (with a minimum of three judges) to replace the current single judges. These multi-person courts would be the ones responsible for taking important decisions that can affect people, such as custody, bail, embargos and a complete range of preventive measures that can affect the assets, dignity, professionalism and freedom of people. I know that this idea was added to the bill to reform the civil procedure law but I am unaware of the reasons why it did not go through the parliamentary procedures. Perhaps this is due to the lack of judicial independence in the classic sense of the term.

Fomento invertirá 11 millones en varios tramos de la A-7 en la Comarca ✑ M. Gil

este plan, se concentran, uno entre los puntos kilométricos 36,700 y 102,400, y el otro desde ese último punto hasta el 137,700; abarca el tramo desde Vejer de la Frontera hasta San Roque, pasando por las localidades de Tarifa y Algeciras.

Tres de los tramos incluidos en la actuación pertenecen a los accesos Sur y Norte del Puerto de Algeciras, con un total de 6,6 kilómetros afectados. El último de los tramos, de 4,1 kilómetros, está situado en el término municipal de La Línea de la Concepción, comprendido entre la entrada al municipio desde la A-7 hasta la frontera con Gibraltar.

La Dirección General de Carreteras, que pertenece al Ministerio de Fomento, anunció que sacará a licitación para la conservación de la carretera N-340, a su paso por la Comarca del Campo Gibraltar, varias ejecuciones para su mantenimiento por un valor de más de once millones de euros.

Concretamente, 11.464.306,12 euros, tal y como se recoge en el Boletín Oficial del Estado, se destinarán a tareas de mantenimiento en seis tramos de la vía; el plazo se mantiene abierto hasta el 1 de junio para presentar ofertas.

Educación Colegio Internacional Sotogrande P6 celebra su exposición PEP 1 Redacción

La exposición del miércoles fue la culminación de semanas de trabajo para los estudiantes de P6, nuestros alumnos de 10 a 11 años. La exposición es una parte importante del PEP del BI, ya que ofrece a nuestros estudiantes la oportunidad de demostrar las habilidades que han aprendido durante los años de primaria.

El tema de este año era “Ama el lugar en el que vives”, y tenía el objetivo de animar a los estudiantes a explorar todos los aspectos de la cultura y la historia de Andalucía.

Desde las vacaciones de primavera, y con la ayuda de los profesores de primaria que actuaron como mentores, los

estudiantes han trabajado de manera independiente para investigar, organizar datos y desarrollar ideas para encontrar la mejor manera de compartir lo que han aprendido.

El trabajo presentado el día de la exposición fue variado y colorido, contamos con ejemplos como artículos de periódico, poesías, tiras cómicas, modelos, arte, películas, fotografías, gráficos y actividades para visitantes, solo por citar algunos.

Al reflexionar sobre su trabajo y cuáles son las cosas más importantes que han aprendido, los estudiantes hablaron sobre cómo han reconocido la importancia de organizar

el tiempo, mantenerse centrado, dejarse aconsejar, revisar el trabajo, implicarse en lo que hacen y elegir los temas que quieren tratar con atención. Uno de los objetivos de nuestra escuela es el esfuerzo constante por alcanzar la excelencia, por lo que estamos orgullosos de que la exposición de 6º de Primaria de este año lograra celebrar con éxito tanto el viaje de aprendizaje de nuestros alumnos como sus logros.

P6 Celebrate their PYP exhibition Wednesday’s exhibition was the culmination of weeks of work for P6 students, our 1011 year olds. The Exhibition is an important aspect of the IB PYP, giving our students the opportunity to demonstrate the skills learnt throughout the Primary Years. The theme this year was “Love Where You Live” which was the inspiration for students to explore all aspects of Andalucian culture and history.

ed by Primary teachers acting as mentors, the students have worked independently researching, organising data and developing ideas for how best to share what they have learnt. The work presented on the Exhibition day was varied and colourful with examples of newspaper articles, poetry, comicstrips, models, artwork, films, photographs, graphs and interactive activities for visitors to name a few.

Reflecting on their work and the most important things they had learnt students spoke about how they have recognised the importance of organising time, keeping focussed, taking advice, revising work, being committed and choosing themes carefully. With one of our school’s focuses being on a constant strive for excellence our Primary School’s Year Six exhibition this year really did celebrate our students achievements and learning journey.

CEIP Gloria Fuertes Ayer y hoy de nuestro colegio Con motivo del proyecto “Ayer y hoy de nuestro colegio” que se desarrolla en nuestro Centro, hemos disfrutado de la compañía y colaboración de antiguos alumnos/as, que ahora son padres/madres de nuestro alumnado y también hemos contado con la presencia de antiguos maestros.

El día 16 de marzo los alumnos/as de 2º ciclo de Primaria asistieron en el Salón de Actos a una charla en la que Toñi Justicia y Toñi Trujillano (en representación de Francisco Trujillano, que no pudo venir) nos contaron cómo era el Colegio hace 30 o 40 años desde el punto de vista de antiguos alumnos/as. El día 27 de abril nos visitaron tres antiguos maestros de nuestro colegio: Joaquín Bleda, Diego Pedreira y Salvador Miralla. Los tres nos dieron una charla en el Salón de Actos del Centro y nos contaron cómo era el colegio hace más de 30 años. Los niños y niñas del colegio, muchos de ellos hijos/as de sus antiguos alumnos/ as, les hicieron muchas preguntas y ellos contestaron, desde su recuerdo como docentes, saciando su curiosidad. A los seis les estamos muy agradecidos por su interés y simpatía.

Los niños/as disfrutaron y aprendieron cosas que no sabían, como…

- Quién era “Doña Palmeta”: una vara con la que pegaban los maestros en la mano a los alumnos que se portaban mal. “Una vez los niños escondieron las palmetas en el Cerro Redondo”.

- Había una asignatura llamada Pretecnología que consistía en manualidades, etc.

- Que existía un kiosco en el Cole-

gio en el que vendían bocadillos, chuches, refrescos,…

- El salón de actos fue aulas de secundaria mientras construían el Instituto de Pueblo Nuevo.

- Los maestros vivían en el edificio de pisos junto al colegio (antiguas casas de maestros). Allí vivió el profesor D. Salvador (padre del actual maestro Salvador) y D. Joaquín.

- Que antes había 8 cursos y se llamaba EGB. - Que se hacían fotos de los alumnos/as en blanco y negro con la cartilla Palau abierta.

- También aprendían a leer en la cartilla Micho. Los niños/as aprendían las letras con gesticulaciones y sonidos onomatopéyicos; “alguna madre creyó que su hija era sordomuda”.

- Que el horario era de mañana y tarde. De 9 a 12:30 y de 3 a 5; los alumnos/as tenían que ir andando desde Guadiaro al Colegio y viceversa hasta 4 veces diarias.

- Los recreos eran de 10:30 a 11:00 y en ellos jugaban a los Jeyper-

man, chapas, bolindres, fútbol, al coge, al pañuelito, a la comba, al churro-media manga-manga entera,…

- El patio de recreo era de tierra.

- Que nuestro colegio se llamaba Colegio Nacional Guadiaro-Sotogrande, pero que todos llamaban Colegio Los Canos. La construcción era única en Andalucía. Al poco de construir el Centro tuvieron que hacer arreglos porque surgieron algunos defectos.

- Que, antes de entrar a clase, los alumnos/as hacían formación de fila apoyando el brazo en el compañero/a de delante y se rezaba.

- Había 2 clases por curso. Clase A y clase B, de alrededor de 40 alumnos/as. Te la asignaban por orden alfabético.

- Que nuestro Colegio se llama Gloria Fuertes porque así lo votaron los alumnos/as en el curso 83/84.

- Que la escritora Gloria Fuertes nos visitó más tarde y los niños/as pudieron compartir con ella sus grandes relatos.

To mark the project “Then and now at our school” that is taking place at the school, we have enjoyed the company and collaboration of former pupils, that are now the parents of our pupils and we have also enjoyed the participation of former teachers.

On 16 March pupils from the 2nd Primary school year attended a talk in the Assembly Room that Toñi Justicia and Toñi Trujillano (on behalf of Francisco Trujillano, who could not come) gave about what the school was like 30 or 40 years ago from the point of view of former pupils. On 27 April we were visited by three former teachers at the school: Joaquín Bleda, Diego Pedreira and Salvador Miralla. The three of them gave a talk in the School Assembly Hall and talked about what the school was like more than 30 years ago. Children from the school, many of whom are the sons and daughters of former pupils, asked them lots of questions and they answered, recalling memories of their time as teachers, in order to satisfy the curiosity of pupils. We are very thankful to all six of the speakers for their interest and kindness.

- Who was “Miss Palm”: a rod that teachers used to hit badly behaved pupils on the hand. “The pupils once hid the rods in the Cerro Redondo”.

- There was a subject named Pre-technology that consisted of manual tasks, etc...

- There was a kiosk at the School that sold sandwiches, sweets, soft drinks….

- The assembly hall was used as a secondary school classroom when they were building the Pueblo Nuevo School.

- Teachers lived the building of flats

next to the school (old teachers’ houses). That is where the teacher Mr Salvador (father of the current teacher Salvador) and Mr Joaquín lived.

- That before there were 8 years and the system was called “EGB”.

- That black and white photographs of the pupils were taken with the Palau book open.

- Pupils also learned to read using the Micho book. Children learned letters with gestures and onomatopoeic sounds; “a mother thought that her daughter was deaf and dumb”.

- That the timetable was from the morning and afternoon. From 9 to 12.30 and from 3 to 5; pupils had to walk from Guadiaro to the School, and back home again, up to 4 times a day.

The building was unique in Andalusia. Soon after building the school it was necessary to carry out repairs because some defects emerged.

Concurso de Relatos Cortos ‘Letras del Sur’ Este curso, como en años anteriores, nuestros alumnos/as han participado en el certamen de Relatos Cortos “Letras del Sur”, que organiza el ayuntamiento de San Roque y que premia a jóvenes escritores. La alumna Claudia Vargas Parra de 6ºB quedó finalista con el relato “Una navidad mágica”, ¡enhorabuena Claudia! Junto con otros compañeros fueron, el Día del Libro, hasta San Roque para participar en una Lectura Pública.

‘Letters from the south’ shorts story competition This year, like in previous years, our pupils have participated in the “Letters from the South” Short Story competition, that is organised by San Roque council and recognises the talent of young writers.

The pupil Claudia Vargas Parra from 6B was a finalist with the story “A magical Christmas!”, congratulations Claudia!

Along with other pupils, she went to San Roque on Book Day, in order to participate in a Public Reading.

Novedades referentes al cálculo de la plusvalía El día 10 de marzo de 2016 el Magistrado-Juez del Juzgado de lo Contencioso Administrativo número dos de la ciudad de Jaén, dictó una sentencia que condenaba al Ayuntamiento de la misma ciudad a la devolución a los contribuyentes de las cantidades abonadas en concepto de plusvalía de los inmuebles transmitidos.

Dicha resolución se debió a que, según el Magistrado-Juez el cálculo de la base imponible ha de hacerse atendiendo al incremento del valor del inmueble desde el momento en el que tuviera lugar la adquisición de este hasta el momento

de la transmisión del mismo y no, como pretendía el Ayuntamiento, atendiendo al ingreso económico con la venta ni el beneficio que de ello deriva.

En el mismo sentido se ha pronunciado el Tribunal Superior de Justicia de Cataluña, mediante su Sentencia de 18 de julio de 2013 y de 22 marzo de 2012, en las que se opta por que, si se acredita que el valor real del inmueble no se ha incrementado mientras el contribuyente era su propietario, no tendrá lugar el hecho imponible del IIVTNU (Plusvalía) y, diciendo concretamente la de 18 de julio:

“El incremento de valor experimentado por los terrenos de naturaleza urbana constituye el primer elemento del hecho imponible, de manera que en la hipótesis de que no existiera tal incremento, no se generará el tributo ello pese al contenido de las reglas objetivas de cálculo de la cuota, pues al faltar un elemento esencial del hecho imponible, no puede surgir la obligación tributaria. En conclusión, la ausencia objetiva de incremento del valor dará lugar a la no sujeción al impuesto, simplemente como consecuencia de la no realización del hecho imponible, pues la

contradicción legal no puede ni debe resolverse a favor del “método de cálculo” y en detrimento de la realidad económica, pues ello supondría desconocer los principios de equidad, justicia y capacidad económica.

Las mismas conclusiones han de aplicarse cuando si ha existido incremento de valor, pero la cuantía de este es probadamente inferior a la resultante de aplicación de dicho método de cálculo, al infringirse los mismos principios.”

citadas sentencias, procediendo, por tanto, a cobrar el impuesto cuando no ha lugar a ello o a cobrar cantidades superiores a las que realmente corresponden.

New developments relating to the calculation of capital gains tax On 10 March 2016 the Magistrate-Judge of the Contentious Administrative Court number two in the city of Jaén, passed a ruling that condemned the Council of the same city to return tax payers the amount they had paid in capital gains tax on transferred properties.

This ruling was due to the fact that, according to the Magistrate-Judge the calculation on the taxable base has to be made taking into consideration the increase in the value of the property

from the time of its acquisition up until the time of its transfer and not, as the Council was claiming, taking into account financial revenue from the sale or the profits deriving from it.

The High Court of Justice in Catalonia made a similar decision through its Ruling on 18 July 2013 and 22 March 2012, in which it rules, if it is shown that if the real value of the property has not increased while the tax payers was its owner, then the taxable event of the Tax on the Increase

in Value of Urban Land (IIVTNU) (Capital Gains Tax), specifically that of 18 July.

“The increase in value of urban plots of land constitutes the first element of the taxable event, in a way that in the assumption that there is no increase, then the tax will not be generated, despite the content of the rules for calculating the rate, as lacking an essential element of the taxable event, the tax obligation cannot arise. In conclusion, the objective absence of an increase in value will lead

to non-subjection to the tax, simply as a result of the non-existence of the taxable event, as the legal contradiction cannot or should not be resolved in favour of the “calculation method” and in detriment of the economic reality, as this would involve repudiating the principles of fairness, justice and financial capacity.

The same conclusions have to be applied when, if there has been an increase in value, but the value of it is shown to be lower than the resulting application of

said calculation method, by infringing the same principles.”

It is common for Councils to settle capital gains without taking into account the criteria established by the aforementioned rulings, and thus charge for the tax when there are no grounds for it, or to charge higher amounts than those that really correspond. Cultura DFAS de la Frontera premia un año más a jóvenes artistas locales 1 Manuel Gil

Celeste Girona López, estudiante del IES Sierra Almenara, con la obra “Un Sentimiento Superficial”, se proclamó ganadora del Premio Artistas Jóvenes (mayores de 15 años) que organiza la Asociación de Actividades Artísticas y Culturales (DFAS) de la Frontera, dotado con 300 euros de premio.

Tras la clausura del concurso se procedió a la entrega de premios en la Sala Joven de Exposiciones, donde se expusieron durante una semana los veinte trabajos seleccionados en el Concurso de Jóvenes Artistas.

Todos los participantes recibieron un diploma conmemorativo, así como un obsequio de la delegación de Juventud.

Además, el premio para menores de 15 años, dotado con 200 euros, fue para Alexandra Eleferenko, del Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande, por su

obra “ Migrants at the Station – Lino cut”. En el mismo acto se entregó el Premio Socios DFAS, dotado de 150 euros, a Alejandro Dominguez Saborido, del IES José Cadalso , por la obra “Azul Marino”. Los socios de la entidad otorgan este premio votando las obras a través de Internet.

Cada año, este colectivo integrado principalmente por resi-

dentes extranjeros en la Costa del Sol y el Campo de Gibraltar, organiza un certamen artístico en el que pueden participar todos los alumnos de los institutos públicos de Secundaria del municipio así como del Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande. Se trata de fomentar la creación joven y dar la posibilidad a estos artistas en ciernes de exponer su trabajo.

Rueda, todo un virtuoso de la seis cuerdas, ya sabe lo que es actuar en la zona ya que ha participado en varias ocasiones en Sotogrande dentro del ciclo “Sonatas de Domingo”. En los últimos años se ha convertido en un reconocido artista en muchos países.

El concierto, con buen nivel del asistencia y de gran calidad en su ejecución, contó con el patrocinio de Hassans y Parques de Sotogrande, y la colaboración de Mosayko arte música, restaurante Casa Moncayo, bodega Pinna Fidelis, y floristería Florium.

Emocionante, intensa, abierta y extraordinaria última jornada del Real Club Valderrama Open de España – Fundación Sergio García. La regularidad, esa difícil cualidad de poner en práctica en el golf durante cuatro jornadas de competición, permitió que la noventa edición del Open de España de Golf, el primero que se celebra en el mítico trazado de Valderrama, se fuera hasta las islas británicas. Andrew Johnston, con un irreprochable torneo (67, 74, 74, 70) levantó el trofeo al finalizar con un golpe más sobre el par del campo el torneo.

Una jornada de desenlace en la que el viento permitió, como ocurriese en la primera ronda del campeonato, sacar lo mejor de cada jugador en su desafío ante Valderrama. Jornada de ‘birdies’ en muchos de los hoyos y de valentía ante la imperante necesidad de bajar tarjetas; dejó golpes para el recuerdo y grandes partidas para los más de 8.000 espec-

tadores que se dejaron ver por los pasillos de este espectacular trazado. Una vez más, el decisivo hoyo 17, apretó la clasificación hasta el final, en el mejor de los sentidos para hombres como Johnston o Luiten, y en el peor de ellos, como el caso de Pablo Larrazábal (que necesitó de 10 impactos), los alejó del triunfo.

La segunda posición la ocupó finalmente el holandés Joost Luiten (286, +2), que pudo llevar en el 18 el torneo a un desempate pero finalmente en la aproximación mando la bola al ‘bunker’ y firmó

un par que automáticamente proclamó ganador a Johnston que finalizó minutos antes.

El mejor español del torneo, con una excepcional ronda final con -4, fue Sergio García que se llevó el trofeo José Vallejo. García, al término del torneo, agradeció la gran labor de la organización durante todo el evento y afirmó sentirse orgulloso por ser el anfitrión del campeonato, de la mano de su Fundación. “Más de 60.000 euros podremos aportar a la adquisición de pisos para familias con niños enfermos de cáncer”, matizó Sergio García que completó el podio del torneo.

En cuanto al resto de españoles, en los puestos más altos de la clasificación, destacó el puesto once de Alejandro Cañizares (291, +7); Rafa Cabrera-Bello (+9) y Pep Angles (+10), se colaron en el ‘Top veinte’.

Grupo HCP, durante el transcurso de la competición y como medio local, quiso dedicar un reconocimiento a la responsable de comunicación del European Tour, María Acacia López-Bachiller, por su larga trayectoria dedicada al golf y su fuerte vinculación con Sotogrande y esta casa.

El Real Club Valderrama fija para siempre una de las imágenes más emblemáticas de su historia reciente. El mejor campo de la Europa continental, sede la semana pasada del Open de España, regaló a Sergio García un cuadro con su imagen celebrando el triunfo en el Andalucía Masters de 2011, un emotivo obsequio que fue entregado durante una cena que se celebró el sábado en el club después de la tercera jornada.

Valderrama agradeció de esta manera el apoyo del castellonenseen la organización e impulso del Open de España. El Real Club Valderrama regresó al Circuito Europeo por todo lo alto cinco años después, y en parte, por la colaboración de Sergio García y su Fundación.

Sergio recibió el cuadro realizado por el pintor Víctor Jerez, integrante de The Knowmads Hub. Una imagen que refleja el instante preciso en el que embocó el último putt del hoyo 18 para alzarse con la victoria después de un vibrante duelo contra Miguel Ángel Jiménez.

Con este cuadro pintado por Jerez, artista especializado en el retrato de personajes destacados del mundo del deporte, se agradeció a García su denodada defensa del campo sanroqueño. No han sido pocas las veces que Sergio ha reconocido que Valderrama es su campo favorito en el mundo.

“Me encanta el cuadro. Me llevé una sorpresa cuando me lo entregó Nuno (Pereira Machado, Presidente del Real Club Valderrama) y me hizo muchísima ilusión. Siempre he dicho que Valderrama es uno de mis campos favoritos y aquella victoria en 2011 fue sin duda uno de los momentos más especiales de mi carrera. Tener aquel instante personalizado en esta pintura es un honor; estoy muy agradecido al Real Club Valderrama por el regalo y al autor, Víctor Jerez, por hacer algo tan bonito”, asegura Sergio García.

The finest course in continental Europe, home this past week to the Open de España, gifted Sergio Garcia a painting of him celebrating his triumph at the 2011 Andalusia Masters, a touching gift that was presented during a dinner held on Saturday at the club following the third day of the competition.

Sergio received the painting, created by the painter Víctor Jerez, a member of the Knowmads Hub. The image shows the precise moment when he sank the last putt at hole 18 to claim victory after a vibrant duel with Miguel Ángel Jiménez.

With this painting by Jerez, an artist who specialises in portraits of notable sporting figures, the club thanks García for his unflagging defense of the San Roque course. Sergio has cited Valderrama as his favourite course in the world on more than one occasion.

“I love the painting. It was such a surprise when Nuno gave it to me, (Pereira Machado, President of the Real Club Valderrama) and I’m extremely pleased. I’ve always said that Valderrama is one of my favourite courses and that victory in 2011 was undoubtedly one of the most special moments of my career. To have that moment immortalised in this painting is an honour; I’m very grateful to the Real Club Valderrama and to its painter, Víctor Jerez, for making it so beautiful,” said Sergio García.

Sevilla, escenario del primer acto El Real Club de Golf de Sevilla, uno de los puntos de referencia del golf en la región andaluza y sede de varios grandes eventos internacionales, acogió la puesta en escena de la cuarta edición del Circuito de Golf La Revista de Sotogrande. El atractivo, y no por ello menos complicado, trazado hispalense sirvió de escenario para la prueba inaugural de la cuarta temporada de este circuito, único en su formato, que como viene siendo ya casi tradicional gusta realizar su pistoletazo de salida con una prueba lejos de Sotogrande.

Desde primera hora de la mañana y hasta las dos del mediodía, de manera consecutiva, fueron saliendo las diferentes partidas, con los más de 120 jugadores, entre socios del club sevillano y habituales del Circuito de La Revista de Sotogrande, para disfrutar de una calurosa e intensa

jornada de golf.

No antes sin pasar a recoger, cada uno de los golfistas, su ‘Welcome Pack’, con material deportivo y obsequios por parte de la organización y de varios de los colaboradores y patrocinadores del circuito que no quisieron de este modo perder la oportunidad de agasajar a los primeros participantes de esta cuarta edición.

Caída la tarde, poco después de la finalización de la última partida (la competición se divide en Primera y Segunda Categoría de Caballeros y Categoría de Damas), se llevaría a cabo la entrega de premios y sorteo de regalos para los asistentes en la cita.

En cuanto al apartado deportivo, en premios especiales, Teodosio Iglesias fue el ganador a la Bola más cercana (indistinta, Hoyo 3) y José Antonio Román se llevó el galardón

al Drive más recto (indistinto, en el Hoyo 16). El mejor resultado en la Categoría Scratch fue para Javier Rodríguez-Tabernero Torres.

En Primera Categoría Caballeros, el triunfo Teodosio Iglesias, Álvaro García y Jorge Ugarte, le acompañaron en el podio. En Segunda Categoría de Caballeros, la victoria fue Juan Antonio Clavijo, acompañado en el cajón por Carlos Carrasco y Guillermo Rodríguez, segundo y tercero respectivamente. Finalmente, en la Categoría de Damas se impuso Ana Pérez, acompañada en el podio por Purificación Alcalá y María Remedios Muñoz.

Seville, setting for the first act Real Club de Golf de Sevilla, one of the benchmarks for golf in Andalusia and the venue for several large international events, hosted the opening event of the fourth edition of the Sotogrande Magazine Golf Magazine. The appealing, but nevertheless challenging, Seville course was the setting for the first event of the fourth edition of this circuit, unique in terms of its format, following what is now almost a tradition of holding the curtain raiser with an event away from Sotogrande.

From first thing in the morning, until two in the afternoon, different groups gradually went out to play. There were more than 120 players, including members of the Seville club and regulars of the Sotogrande Magazine Golf Circuit, and they enjoyed a warm and in-

El magnífico trazado de La Reserva de Sotogrande acoge el próximo sábado, 22 de mayo, el Torneo Benéfico de Golf Open 22q, en beneficio de la Asociación Síndrome 22q Andalucía. La competición se disputará bajo la Modalidad Stableford Individual y la participación tendrá un coste de 100 euros, con buggy incluido.

No es la primera vez que La Reserva de Sotogrande acoge este tipo de competiciones solidarias y to-

das ellas contaron con un enorme respaldo tanto de jugadores como de entidades y empresas colaboradoras con la causa, como también sucede en esta ocasión.

La Asociación Síndrome 22q Andalucía es una entidad sin ánimo de lucro que tiene como objetivos impulsar , fomentar y difundir cualquier contenido en beneficio del tratamiento de este síndrome.

En concreto, como los fondos obtenidos con esta prueba, se tratará

de celebrar diferentes congresos o simposios con profesionales del sector sanitario en el que promover a través de varias jornadas las pautas y protocolos especializados para su tratamiento.

The competition will be played using the Stableford Individual Format and

participation will cost 100 euros, including the use of a buggy.

This is not the first time that La Reserva de Sotogrande has hosted this type of charity competition and all of them had enormous backing from players as well as entities and com-

panies collaborating with the cause, which is also the case on this occasion.

The Andalusian 22q Syndrome Association is a non-profit entity that aims to boost, encourage and disseminate any content in aid of treatments for

this syndrome. Specifically, with the funds obtained from this event, the aim will be to hold different congresses and symposiums with professionals from the health sector in order to promote the guidelines and specialised protocol for its treatment

over the course of several days.

La tripulación eslovena Ceeref se proclamó campeona del mundo de RC44 Marina de Sotogrande.

Un título que supone el colofón a una semana intensa dentro del mundo de la élite deportiva en la vela y vivida con gran intensidad en Sotogrande El equipo “Ceeref” de Igor Lah, ya anotó el sábado dos primeros, un cuarto y un octavo, y con un total de 43 puntos, se hizo el campeonato. El conjunto local de Gibraltar “Península Petroleum”, de John Bassadone, quedó en segunda posición con 46, mientras que los suecos “Artemis” de Torbjorn Tornqvist, escalaron con méritos hasta el tercer puesto, con un total de 64 puntos. En este equipo destaca su táctico Francesco Bruni, olímpico en las

clases Laser, 49er y Star, quien además ha participado en varias ocasiones en la prestigiosa America’s Cup. Una prueba que reunion a los más prestigiosos regatistas a nivel mundial en Sotogrande. Ganadores de la America’s Cup, regatas vuelta al mundo o de los circuitos internacionales profesionales. Supuso además la regata más importante de las cinco pruebas del circuito internacional de esta categoría, con el título mundial en juego.

De los 11 equipos participantes, nueve contaron entre sus tripulaciones con un gran número de grandes figuras de la vela mundial. Campeones del mundo en más de veinte ocasiones –como es el caso del táctico italiano a

bordo del Península Petroleum, Vasco Vascotto-, ganadores del título como mejor regatista del mundo en 2007, el táctico americano a bordo del Team Nika, Ed Baird, o la leyenda de la vela John Kostecki, que junto a su compañero del equipo Charisma Ross Halcrow pueden presumir de haber ganado la regata vuelta al mundo y la Americas Cup, entre otros, acudieron a la llamada de la Marina de Sotogrande.

Entre otras entidades colaboradoras, destacó el papel y apoyo de entidades como el Ayuntamiento de San Roque, Diputación de Cádiz, CN Bevelle o Puerto de Sotogrande, entre algunas de ellas. Gran éxito de esta segunda visita de los RC44 en Sotogrande.

Hospital Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar, servicio médico oficial de la regata RC44 en Sotogrande

El Hospital Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar ejerció como servicio médico oficial de la RC 44 en Sotogrande. El dispositivo sanitario constó de una ambulancia medicalizada con equipos médicos y de enfermería, situados junto al pantalán visitable número 5 del puerto de Sotogrande, preparados para actuar rápidamente, en caso de necesidad; en caso de evacuación, se trasladarían a la Torre de Control del Puerto de Sotogrande, según está dispuesto en el protocolo de emergencias de la organización de la regata.

Según explica Miguel Ángel Díez, director gerente de Puerto de Sotogrande, “la organización ha confiado en la experiencia de Grupo Hospitalario Quirónsalud por segunda vez para que sea el responsable de velar por la salud de los participantes de la regata, entre los que se encuentran empresarios de gran relevancia del panorama económico internacional”.

En declaraciones del doctor Antonio Feria, director de Hospital Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar, “para nuestro centro es una satisfacción contribuir una año más a la regata RC44. Este dispositivo es una muestra más de la apuesta de Quirónsalud por la promoción del deporte y por la participación en los eventos de esta índole que se celebren en el área del Campo de Gibraltar”.

The Slovenian side “Ceeref” are crowned RC44 World Champions at Sotogrande Marina The crew, led by Igor Lah, turned consistency into their best weapon in order to take victory at the RC44 World Championship; a competition that was filled with emotion up until the last moment in Sotogrande The Slovenian crew Ceeref were crowned world RC44 champions at Sotogrande Marina. The title marks the culminating point of an intense week within the world of elite sport in sailing and was experienced with great intensity in Sotogrande Igor Lah’s “Ceeref” side notched up two first places on Saturday, and a fourth and eighth place finish, and won the championship with 43 points. The local Gibraltar side, “Peninsula Petroleum”, skippered

by John Bassadone, finished second with 46 points, while the Swedish side “Artemis” with Torbjorn Tornqvist, earned a well-deserved third place with a total of 64 points. In this side it is worth highlighting the tactics of Francesco Bruni, an Olympic

athlete in the Laser, 49er and Star classes, who has also participated in the prestigious America’s Cup on several occasions.

This is an event that brings together the world’s most prestigious sailors in Sotogrande. There were winners from the America’s Cup, around the world regattas and professional international circuits.

It was also the most important of the five events of the international circuit in this category, with the world title at stake.

Of the 11 participating teams, nine had crews involving a large number of major figures from the sailing world. They included sailors that had been world champions on more than twenty occasions -such

as the case of the Italian tactician on board the Península Petroleum, Vasco Vascotto-, winners of the title of beast sailor in the world in 2007, the American tactician on board Team Nika, Ed Baird or the sailing legend John Kostecki, who, along with his teammate from the Charisma Team Ross Halcrow can claim to have won the round the world regatta and the Americas Cup among others, and were attracted to Sotogrande Marina.

Quinta edición y nuevo éxito a la vista. Restaurante Parrilla La Quinta celebra entre el próximo 27 y 29 de mayo la quinta edición de su Torneo de Polo Parrilla La Quinta, el llamado ‘Torneo de los Restaurantes’, sin duda, una de las citas más esperadas en el calendario de primavera en Sotogrande. Un evento que es mucho más que sólo deporte, se trata de un gran punto de encuentro social en el que se mezcla el mejor ambiente de Sotogrande, su exquisita gastronomía y el polo de mejor nivel de Sotogrande en un enclave único, como son las canchas de Rio. Un año más, y con este ya van cinco, La Quinta se vuelca con el torneo de polo en el que varios

At this edition, the fifth, lots of activities, live music and surprises have been prepared The fifth edition and another success in sight. Parilla La Quinta restaurant is holding the fifth edition of its Parrilla La Quinta Polo Tournament, the so-called “Restaurant Tournament” from 27 to 29 May. It is without doubt one of the most eagerly awaiting events on the Sotogrande spring calendar. It is an event that is about much more than sport, it is a great social meeting place that brings together the best atmosphere in Sotogrande, its exquisite gastronomy and the top level polo in Sotogrande in a unique venue, the pitches at Rio. Once again this year, for the fifth time now, La Quinta is backing the polo tournament in which

several restaurants in the area associate their name with the teams competing, which adds lots of competitiveness to the event.

This creates friendly rivalries and of course makes it a benchmark social event in Sotogrande. El I Torneo de Golf Todos Solidarios triunfa por una buena causa en Alcaidesa Golf ✑ Manuel Gil

El compromiso y la voluntad, al servicio de los más necesitados de muy jóvenes. Gran éxito de la primera edición del Torneo de Golf Todos Solidarios que se realizó en el trazado de Alcaidesa Links Golf a beneficio de la algecireña asociación del Padre Cruceyra. Más de tres mil euros aportados a una magnífica causa gracias a la inciativa de dos alumnos del Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande, Alejandro Nestares y Javier Rondo, que decidieron poner en marcha un torneo de golf para ayudar a

una buena causa.

Una jornada de golf que comenzó con una buena participación en la parcela golfística, con una competición por Parejas en Modalidad Stableford, con salida al tiro a partir de las 15 horas.

Más tarde, exquisito cóctel en la Casa Club y entrega de premios con sorteo de regalos, colaboración de las muchas empresas y entidades de la zona que se han volcado con esta iniciativa.

En el plano puramente deportivo, el Drive más largo fue para Javier Reviriego, en caballeros,

mientras que el de Damas fue para Ana Vega. La Bola más cecana cayó en manos de Ian Bermundez. La pareja ganadora de la cita fue la formada por Isabel Marti y José Manuel Henares; acompañados en el podio por Javier Reviriego e Iñigo Gómez Bilbao, en segunda posición, y Juan Manuel Toro y Salvador Benítez, en tercera posición.

The 1st All Charitable Golf Tournament triumphs for a good cause at Alcaidesa Golf It was all about commitment and desire in aid of those most in need at a very young age.

The first edition of the All Charitable Golf Tournament held at the Alcaidesa Links Golf course in aid of the Padre Cruceyra association from Algeciras was a great success. It raised more than three thousand euros for a magnificent cause thanks to the initiative of two pupils from Sotogrande International School, Alejandro Nestares and Javier Rondo, who decided to start up a golf tournament in order to help a good cause.

It was a day of golf that underway with a good level of sporting participation, with a Pairs competition using the Stableford Format, with groups heading out from 3pm onwards.

Later, there was an exquisite cocktail party at the Club House and awarding of prizes, with a prize draw, and collaboration from lots of companies and entities in the area that have really got behind the initiative.

In terms of the sport, the Longest Drive among the men went to Javier Reviriego, while among the ladies, it was won by Ana Vega.

Sotogrande se viste de Villa Olímpica La Reserva de Sotogrande se convirtió, por unas horas, en prácticamente la Villa Olímpica de los Juegos de Río de Janeiro 2016. La Casa Club del reconocido trazado en Sotogrande acogió la rueda de prensa del encuentro de varios capitanes de equipos nacionales de golf que participarán en los próximos Juegos, motivado por su presencia en la zona con la celebración del Real Club Valderrama Open de España – Fundación Sergio García.

El golfista profesional Manuel Piñero, que será el capitán del equipo español de golf el próximo de agosto en Brasil, hizo las veces de anfitrión para José María Olazábal; Sergio García, que representará a España; y George O´Grady, presidente de Relaciones Internacionales del European Tour y uno de los promotores del golf como deporte olímpico. Los cuatro ofrecieron una rueda de prensa aunque no estuvieron solos durante el evento; al encuentro acudieron también el capitán de Bélgica, Philippe Relecom; el de Dinamarca, Claus Moelholm; el de Italia, Gianluca Crespi; el de Portugal, Joao Coutinho y otras personalidades como José María Cañizares, compañero de Piñero en el equipo ganador de la Ryder Cup de 1985.

The Club House of the well-known Sotogrande course hosted the press conference for several captains of the national golf teams participating in the next Olympics, driven by their presence in the area due to the Real Club Valderrama Open de España – Fundación Sergio García.

El Equipo de Doma Clásica Dressage Sotogrande acudió al Campeonato de CDN2* CDI3*, celebrado en Segovia, en las prestigiosas instalaciones del Cecyl (Centro Ecuestre de Castilla y León). Un concurso de muchísimo nivel en el que se dieron cita gran número de los mejores binomios nacionales, preparatorio para el Campeonato de Europa y de España.

Dressage Sotogrande estuvo representado en Segovia por 4 binomios, de la mano del entrenador Diego Ramírez que valoró

positivamente la actuación del equipo, al competir con jinetes y amazonas de gran nivel.

La jovencita tesorillera Lola Martín Cupido (11 años) montando a su lusitano Dartagnan consiguió un quinto puesto en Alevín Equipos y se colgó el bronce en la categoría Alevín Individual, mismo metal que consiguió la algecireña residente en Sotogrande Patricia Martínez (14 años) con su caballo Kalem en la prueba Juvenil 1* Equipos, y la barreña Coral Buenestado (16 años) a lomos

de Fudji, representando a España en el CDI3* quedó en sexto lugar en Juvenil 1* Equipo con una excelente prueba y aunque no subió al podio sí consiguió la clasificación para su participación en el Campeonato de España 2016.

La amazona Karin Orsing y su complicada PRE Condesa participando en Clásica se enfrentaron a dos pruebas difíciles por la tensión de la yegua pero nos llevamos la satisfacción de mejorar progresivamente y subir puestos en el ranking.

This is an extremely high level competition that brought together a great number of the best national pairs, in preparation for

the European and Spanish Championship. Dressage Sotogrande was represented in Segovia by 4 pairings, alongside the coach Diego Ramírez who had a positive assessment of the team’s performance, competing with high level riders.

Cuarenta y seis minutos necesitaron los españoles para remontar el primer set y acabar doblegando a sus oponentes, que partían como la pareja número cinco del Open de Xiamen.

“Vamos por el buen camino.

Estamos muy contentos y muy motivados de cara al Open de Fuzhou de esta próxima semana. Tenemos que disfrutar del momento, relajarnos y a partir de mañana pensar en el siguiente torneo”, comentó Gavira al término del duelo.

Medalla importantísima para el dúo nacional y muy especial para el jugador castellonense (Herrera), quien estrenaba paternidad y no dudó en hacer el gesto del chupete en el podio para celebrar ambas victorias.

El manzanillo de la muerte es el árbol más peligroso que existe para el ser humano.

En las playas de las islas del Caribe y América Central, existe un árbol muy similar al manzano que es extremadamente peligroso. Tanto que seguramente encontraremos cerca suyo carteles advirtiendo las fatales consecuencias.

“El manzanillo de arena” (Hippomane Mancinella), llamado generación tras generación “el árbol de la muerte”, está literalmente hasta las ramas de puro veneno. Tocarlo puede ocasionar quemaduras, comer su sugerente fruto en forma de manzana lleva a la intoxicación mortal. Pero eso no es todo.

Quemarlo produce humo tóxico. Cuando llueve se escurre por sus hojas un ácido similar al de la lluvia ácida. Hasta dormir debajo de él es peligroso por el polen que expele, que se magnifica en las horas de máxima temperatura. Todas las partes de la planta sueltan un látex blanquecino que incluso puede provocar ceguera al contactar con los ojos.

Worldwide, 20,000 brands of beer are brewed in 180 styles, from ales, lagers, pilsner and stouts to bitters, cream ales and iced beers.

Beer has been a popular beverage for a long time. Babylonian clay tablets show detailed recipes of beer making in 4300 BC. Beer was also brewed by the ancient Chinese, Assyrians and Incas.

An Egyptian text of 1600 BC gives 100 medical prescriptions using beer.

A few years ago, the New Castle Brewery in England brewed 1,000 bottles Tutankhamun Ale from a 3,200-year old recipe found in the sun temple of Queen Nefertiti.

Commercial beer making was established in 1200 AD in present-day Germany. In 1506, the German Purity Law is issued, specifying that beer ingredients must only be water, barley, wheat and hops. Bottling of beer started in 1605.

Ales usually are heavily hopped, and include bitters, brown ales, cream ales, mild ale, pale ale, India pale ale, barley wine and several other types. There are two types of the aboriginal ale still brewed in Europe. They are Belgian “lambic” and Finnish “sahti”, which is brewed from rye malt. They are brewed on wild yeast and spontaneous fermentation. Both have very distinct tastes.

The best taste usually is acquired at an alcohol contents of 4.7% ethanol per volume. Less than that results in a beer with a bland taste. More than that and the higher alcohols (butanol, pentanol etc) become overpowering and spoils the taste.
