vicios disponibles, cara a la afluencia de usuarios: posicionamiento de balizas, socorrismo, duchas, etc. Destacar también, la recuperación del distintivo de Bandera Azul en las playas de Torreguadiaro y Cala Sardina.

Casi sin prestar atención orilla el mes de junio como pistoletazo de salida a otro intenso y prometedor verano en Sotogrande. Tras una primavera más que ajetreada, con muchos acontecimientos relevantes que prácticamente no dejan descanso en la agenda de la zona desde una temprana Semana Santa, el verano llama a la puerta con los primeros fines de semana con colorido de sombrillas en las playas.

Los chiringuitos empiezan a funcionar, los deportes acuáticos en marcha, terrazas, sol y buen ambiente. No es mal cóctel el que se avecina. Aunque para ello todas las puntadas deben sujetar de manera firme el cartelón de “VERANO”, sin fisuras.

Las playas deben ponerse al día en infraestructuras y servicios, a pleno rendimiento. En eso aún resta mucho en previsión y organización, a diferencia con otros destinos en el que toda la logística ya funciona a comienzos de mayo.

Following a very busy spring, with lots of important events that have practically not left time for rest in the area’s schedule since an early Holy Week. Summer is now knocking at the door with the first few weeks of colourful parasols in view on the beaches.

Beach bars are beginning to operate, water sports are underway, we have terraces, sun and a good atmosphere; not a bad cocktail at all around the corner. However, for this purpose all the stitches in the big “SUMMER” project need to be well secured, we cannot afford to have any weak spots.

The beaches need to fine-tuned in terms of infrastructure and services, and perform at full capacity. In this regard, there is still lots of planning and organisation to do, unlike other destinations where all the logistics is

already functioning at the beginning of May. However, over the last few days, it has not just been the first swims of the year attracting all the attention, the holding of the Tuna Fair at Sotogrande Marina has also livened up the atmosphere. It was a success in two stages, two consecutive weekends where gastronomy took centre stage at Ribera del Marlin, one of the places with most commercial potential in the area. The construction work in the centre already points to interesting new features ahead of the coming weeks, with wicker similar to the busy “Mercado de Levante” of last year.

The wooden pergolas, and the good presentation of the stands of each restaurant in the area, which is very appealing, makes it inviting to spend a good evening right at the heart of Sotogrande. It is undoubtedly a pretty presence, and the boldest people have pointed out that it would not be a bad idea to extend this type of facilities over the key

summer weeks. The result of future similar initiatives will emerge from the success of this edition.

Talking of success, the polo event known as the “Restaurant Tournament” held once again this year at the Rio, with support from our friends at Parrilla La Quinta has made it clear that when things are done well, they turn out even better. The attractions that this event offers each spring mean it keeps getting even better. Congratulations to the organisers! This is an event that is on the rise.

Lots of ingredients have come into play at the start of summer that look exciting in Sotogrande. This publishing house is also adding to the excitement. We are beginning our period of fortnightly newspapers which runs until September, to bring you everything that takes place during this lively period. Una gala solidaria de alto nivel Conozco a Raymond y Patricia Darch desde hace muchos años. Son unas excelentes personas y se que lo pasaron muy mal cuando su nieto Arturo Darch falleció a causa de leucemia.

Desde entonces no han parado de aportar su granito de arena para ayudar a otras personas con la misma enfermedad. Han creado la Aso1 José Luis García ciación Arturo Darch Editor/Director para llevar a cabo actijlgarcia@grupohcp.com vidades recaudatorias a favor de la lucha contra este mal. Desde hace mas de tres años tenían en mente organizar algo grande en Sotogrande que permitiese ayudar a recaudar y hacer mas sensible a residentes y visitantes sobre esta causa. Y por fin dieron un paso de gigante programando para el próximo 25 de junio el Sotogrande Charity Opera – Gala 2016.

Todo lo recaudado ira a la Fundación Josep Carreras contra la

leucemia. Un acontecimiento que merece todo un gran reconocimiento por partida doble, una por lo emotivo del evento y sus razones solidarias y otra por atreverse a convocar a cerca de cuatrocientas personas (aun estáis a tiempo de reservar mesa o plazas individuales), en una noche mágica entorno a una gala de Opera y haciéndola terminar con una gran fiesta. Enhorabuena al matrimonio Darch por el compromiso y entrega en un acto social que además adereza el nivel de eventos en Sotogrande. Todos deberíamos animarnos y asistir a esta primera gran cita del verano en Sotogrande y al mismo tiempo colaborar en tan noble causa.

Un verano que además nos alegra de forma particular en lo que a playas se refiere, el adecentamiento de la zona entre el Cucururcho y los “Lacasitos” con la aportación de la tan ansiada arena que permita, al menos por esta temporada, disfrutar de playa en Sotogrande. Y hago este matiz porque sin los diques previstos que no terminan de consolidarse será muy probable que en el próximo otoño esta arena aportada “viaje” de nuevo por el estrecho. En el resto del litoral que nos afecta seguramente la de Torreguadiaro será un año mas la principal arteria para refrescar la población de la zona y de los pueblos de alrededor que deberán continuar luchando para poder aparcar sus vehículos en las proximidades, cuestión que sigue siendo una asignatura pendiente como viene siendo habitual. Así Cala Sar-

dina, un lugar espectacular como playa pero que para acceder hasta su orilla hay que sortear los barrancos que le preceden, una cuestión que perfectamente se podría adecentar y ornamentar de forma que proyecte una mejor imagen. Estoy seguro que si lo consultamos de nuevo salen a relucir el tema de las competencias, es decir, Demarcación de Costas dice una cosa, el ayuntamiento que no puede actuar y así hasta que al final sea Rajoy el culpable de todo.

Y finalmente, como cada año, también se inician los culebrones de verano, en este caso nos referimos al tema de las tarifas del agua y los recursos presentados por los vecinos de Sotogrande a través de la EUC, Entidad Urbanística de Conservación y la Comunidad de Propietarios de Apartamentos Playas y Casas de Rio de Puerto de Sotogrande. El Tribunal Supremo ha desestimado el recurso de casación de las diferentes administraciones implicadas y por tanto reconoce las demandas de los vecinos, a través de las entidades representadas. Esta cuestión aún esta por dirimir sobre cómo será su aplicación, en relación a facturación de los últimos años, aunque sí se constata que deberán volver a aplicarse las tarifas anteriores las aprobadas en el año 2011.

Finally, like every year, the soap operas of summer are also getting started. In this case, we are referring to the issue of water rates and the appeals lodged by the residents of Sotogrande, through the UCE, the Urban Conservation Unit and the Community of Owners of Beach Apartments and Houses in Rio de Puerto de Sotogrande.

A top-level charity gala I have known Raymond and Patricia Darch for many years. They are excellent people and I know that they had a very tough time when their grandchild Arturo Darch died of leukaemia. Since then, they have not stopped contributing to help other people with the same illness.

They have created the Arturo Darch Foundation in order to carry out activities to raise money for the fight against this illness. For more than three years, they planned organising something big in Sotogrande that would make it possible to raise funds and increase awareness among residents and visitors about this cause. Finally, they have taken a gigantic step forward by organising the 2016 Sotogrande Charity -Opera Gala, which will take place on 25 June. All money raised will go to the Josep Carreras Foundation against leukaemia. This is a great event that deserves recognition on two fronts, firstly, given how emotive the event is and its charity purpose, and secondly, for daring to bring together almost four hundred people (you still have time to book a table or individual places), on a magical night based around an Opera gala ending with a great party. Congratulations to the Darch couple for their commitment and dedication to a social

La III Feria del Atún en Sotogrande, uno de los grandes acontecimientos turísticos de la zona, comenzó (durante su primer ciclo de fin de semana) en la Ribera del Marlin de Puerto Sotogrande. Esta actividad, en la que se unen gastronomía y ocio, se tendrá continuidad en una segunda etapa entre el viernes 3 y el domingo 5 de junio, cuando se procederá a su clausura. Destacan los dos ronqueos de atún, en ambos fines de semana Destacar que cada uno de los nueve establecimientos que participan en el Concurso de la

Tapa ofrece tapa y bebida por 3,50 euros. Son necesarios cinco sellos acreditativos del consumo de tapas para participar en el concurso, cuyo sorteo de premios tendrá lugar el domingo 5 de junio.

El viernes 2 de junio se retomará la III Feria del Atún, con otro “Show Cooking” a cargo del cocinero Javier Abascal, que incluirá también una degustación ofrecida por Agura Avóe. El sábado 4 a las 17.00 horas actuará el Coro Rociero “Ciudad de San Roque”. El domingo 5 a mediodía se llevará a cabo el segundo

de los ronqueos de atún, ofrecido por Herpac. Ese mismo día, a las 17.00 horas, se celebrará el “Concurso de la tapa”.

Hay que recordar que durante los seis días de la III Feria del Atún la empresa Santa María Polo Club ofrecerá actividades de iniciación al polo. El horario de apertura de la carpa será cada uno de los días a las 12.00 horas.

El Consistorio y la compañía Sotogrande SA mantuvieron un encuentro para tratar sobre el desarrollo del Plan Parcial de La Reserva. Hablaron sobre un proyecto, ya en trámite, para la construcción de 42 viviendas exclusivas a partir del próximo otoño.

Y también de otro proyecto, que podría iniciarse en 2017, consistente en otras 47 viviendas. Ambas obras podrían suponer unos 200 empleos.

El primer edil, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, se entrevistó con el consejero delegado de Sotogrande SA, Marc Topiol, y con el director técnico de dicha empresa, Alejandro Vedia. Al término de este encuentro, Ruiz Boix explicó que “Sotogrande SA está desarrollando el Plan Parcial conocido por La Reserva, el subsector 50. En el Pleno Ordinario de marzo se aprobó

de forma definitiva un estudio de detalle que correspondía a la construcción de 42 viviendas”.

En esta ocasión, los directivos de Sotogrande S.A. presentarons otro estudio de detalle en el mismo subsector para la construcción de otras 47 viviendas. “Se

trata de una propuesta que viene en la línea de la recuperación del sector de la construcción. Una oportunidad, por lo tanto, para generar empleo en un sector muy castigado durante los ocho años de crisis y que abre una expectativa positiva a que los promotores

urbanísticos vean movimiento y se animen realizar más actividad urbanística”, matizó Ruiz Boix.

“La zona de La Reserva -concretó el alcalde- tiene una edificabilidad de más de 2.000 viviendas.

Estamos negociando para tratar de reducir ese índice, para así

mantener la idiosincracia de Sotogrande como zona en la que se ofrece un producto exclusivo. Por eso, tratamos que todas las actuaciones que se presenten conlleven una reducción de la edificabilidad concedida en los años 90”.

“Estas dos pequeñas actuaciones -apuntó Ruiz Boix- permitirán la generación de más de 200 puestos de trabajo, todos ellos vinculados a la construcción. En el primer caso, el de las 42 viviendas, ya estamos estudiando el proyecto de reparcelación, tras lo cual vendrá el de urbanización y finalmente la concesión de la licencia. Esperamos, por lo tanto, que antes del mes de octubre se pueda estar trabajando en esta obra. En el segundo caso, que se ha presentado hoy, creemos que podría ponerse en marcha en los primeros meses de 2017”, concluyó.

The mayor specified that “The La Reserva area has development potential of more than 2,000 properties. We are negotiating to try and reduce that rate, in order to maintain Sotogrande’s uniqueness as an area that offers an exclusive product. Therefore, we are try-

ing to ensure that all projects presented involve a reduction in the development potential granted in the 90s”.

Ruiz Boix concluded that “these two small projects will make it possible to create more than 200 jobs, all linked to construction.

In the first case, that of the 42 properties, we are already studying the reparcelling project, after which the land development will come and then finally the granting of the license. We hope therefore that work can be carried out on this project before October. In the second case, that was presented today, we believe that it could be started up in the first few months of 2017.”

La Entidad Parques de Sotogrande insiste en el mantenimiento y cuidado de parcelas

Como ya venimos anunciando en años anteriores, queremos recordarle la obligación por parte de los propietarios de parcelas no edificadas de la limpieza y cuidado general de las mismas.

El no mantenerlas limpias de broza, vegetación espontánea, basura y escombros, aparte de incumplir las ordenanzas municipales y reglas de la urbanización, pueden acarrear pro-

blemas graves de riesgos de incendio, salubridad y ornato, que afectan al resto de propietarios de la urbanización de Sotogrande.

Le informamos que la Ordenanza Municipal de Limpieza y Vallado de Solares y Terrenos del Ayuntamiento de San Roque en sus artículos 5º y 9º, articulan la obligación de los propietarios de las parcelas de la limpieza y el vallado de és-

tas y los Estatutos de Parques de Sotogrande, EUC en su artículo 10º i, indica igualmente la obligación de mantener las parcelas limpias y valladas por sus propietarios.

En la actualidad los servicios municipales, a través del equipo de Policía Urbanística, están desarrollando una labor de inspección en la zona para garantizar el cumplimiento de la normativa y es por ello

que le informamos con vistas a que puedan evitar la apertura de expediente sancionador alguno contra su propiedad, actuando en la limpieza y vallado de su parcela si dicha acción no ha sido realizada en los últimos meses.

Desde la Entidad se recuerda que para que los trabajos sean adecuados, se hace necesaria la total retirada de los restos de la limpieza sin que queden

depositados en la parcela. Sólo así se podrán evitar situaciones de riesgo.

Un hogar para todos

El Centro de Atención Integral Hogar Betania presta atención y ayuda a personas en una complicada situación de carácter económico, residencial, laboral o social. La asociación busca convertir en realidad su próximo proyecto: el adecentamiento, pavimentado y techado de su parte exterior

“¡Caer está permitido, levantarse es obligatorio!”. Así reza el primero de los eslóganes más impactantes que puede uno encontrarse al cruzar el umbral. Un rincón en el que se tropieza con muchas expresiones distintas, muchas caras con diferente rostro. Unas de calma y tranquilidad, otras evadidas con problemas que alcanzan mucho más allá de aquellos muros, con la mente puesta en lo que dejaron atrás; y otras, definitivamente, con la mirada de la resignación que provoca orillar en una una situación, a la que sin saber muy bien la causa, les ha conducido el devenir de los días.

Un morada para todos.

El Centro de Atención Integral Hogar Betania, desde su fundación en el año 2012 en La Línea de la Concepción, se dedica a prestar un servicio multidisciplinar impagable a la comunidad más desfavorecida en la comarca. Con la atención a exreclusos, mujeres víctimas de trata de seres humanos, mujeres víctimas de la explotación sexual y la violencia de género, personas sin hogar o con problemas de adicciones, familias en situación de pobreza, menores en situación de riesgo o jóvenes inmigrantes.

Una encomiable labor que un grupo formidable de personas trata de pelear día a día y convierte en realidad gracias a una lucha sin tregua por obtener subvenciones, ya sea con la administración pertinente, o a su buen tino en la búsqueda de apoyo de personas

y entidades privadas. Ahora, rehabilitar la zona exterior del centro, se presenta como su próximo gran objetivo.

El Centro Hogar Betania, situado en la antigua residencia de mayores a la espalda del Hospital de La Línea (en la calle Gibraltar), mezcla los ambientes propios de situaciones al límite con el de situaciones en la búsqueda de esperanza y un final mejor. Historias de viajes sin rumbo, de caídas y recaídas, de dramas y de propósitos de superación por encima de todas las cosas. Por todo ello, levantarse es obligatorio.

En sus largos pasillos blancos pueden leerse, como si fuesen leyendas, los nombres de instituciones que gracias a su labor hicieron posible la rehabilitación de cada uno de los cuartos en los que actualmente se hospedan hasta una treintena de personas.

Entre largos corredores repletos de dibujos y mensajes de apoyo, variedad de idiomas y acentos, recuerdos familiares, sala multidisciplinar con televisión, zona de ordenadores o espacios abiertos, se respira optimismo y ganas.

Si algo está claro en Hogar Betania es que todo el mundo tiene su sitio, su espacio y su derecho a encontrar una nueva oportunidad para encauzar la vida. Algunos llegados desde África, otros con sueños de futbolista, otros a los que una mala decisión les condenó y algunos a los que simplemente les tocó pasar bajo una escalera en el peor de los momentos.

“Los residentes trabajan dentro del propio centro aunque muchos también cuentan con un empleo fuera pero no ganan un sueldo suficiente como para ser independientes. Son conscientes de que tienen que aportar su granito de arena y la mayoría son

voluntariosos y comprometidos.

Los hay con más mano para la cocina, otros para la fontanería y otros que colaboran en el huerto de frutas y verduras. Todos tiene que sumar”, explica Manolo, uno de los responsables y de las caras amables que se vuelcan en cada causa. “Siempre que estén alejados de adicciones podrán permanecer hasta un máximo de un año con nosotros aunque pocas veces se vence este plazo. Tratamos de escuchar sus problemas, encontrarles un empleo, escolarización, comprensión y que puedan regresar a su rutina con la mayor calidad posible tras su paso por Hogar Betania”, añade.

Servicio y atención Con acogedoras habitaciones (de dos ó tres camas), muchas de ellas ya personalizadas con detalles que hacen presagiar la alargada estancia de algunos de los huéspedes, la convivencia transcurre con relativa normalidad. Rutina de centro ocupacional que se entrelaza con los otros dos grandes servicios que asume la asociación: el albergue y el comedor.

El primero de ellos, el albergue, está orientado para aquellas personas que no forman parte de la comunidad de manera diaria en el centro y que simplemente buscan un lugar en el que pasar la noche. Se realiza un registro a última hora del día y abandonan el centro por la mañana. Cama, baño y muchas veces comida dan alivio y morada a muchas perso-

nas que de manera intermitente se dejan ver por el centro.

“Cuando salí de la cárcel, principalmente, lo que hacía era parar en los bares; tenía una casa sin luz, ni agua,…, no iba bien encaminado. Ya llevo más de un mes en Hogar Betania, totalmente fuera de todo, durmiendo bien, descansando sin problemas. Me están ayudando mucho a seguir adelante”, explica Antonio, uno de los residentes.

El comedor social copa otra de las principales tareas del centro durante la jornada. Los residentes pasan de manera diaria por sus mesas, siendo algunos de ellos los encargados de preparar la comida del resto de la comunidad o asumen tareas ligadas a la alimentación. Además, el comedor surte a otras muchas familias y personas de manera externa, bien con un sitio y un cubierto de lunes a viernes, o bien facilitando alimentos o comida ya preparada a familias en situaciones más desfavorecidas.

“Yo llegué desde Cádiz, de la Cruz Blanca después de vencer los plazos. Tras estar trabajando de interna me vi sin recursos; el dinero es algo que antes o después se acaba y te ves necesitando comida, ropa y un lugar para dormir. Aquí nos tratan bien pero se pasa mal, cada situación y cada historia es un mundo”, detalla Encarni, residente desde hace casi dos meses en el centro. “Mi ilusión es poder conseguir un trabajo y recuperar mi independencia, con mi pareja”, añade.

La zona exterior de Hogar Betania cuenta con espacios abiertos, un pequeño patio y una jardinera en la que pronto se colocará un parque infantil facilitado por una conocida gran superficie. Por ella se accede al huerto, uno de los proyectos que más ilusiona a los residentes. “Se han plantado frutas y verduras que luego se llevan al comedor, así se contribuye al adecentamiento del centro, que viste más con zonas cuidadas y ajardinadas. Además, así todos ponemos de nuestra parte para tener una dieta saludable”, explica uno de los voluntarios.

Junto a la entrada al huerto se puede ver un edificio algo abandonado y que en pocos meses se convertirá en una ludoteca infantil y un gimnasio, con el apoyo de una conocida entidad bancaria con obra social. En él espera ponerse a punto uno de los rostros más jóvenes de Hogar Betania, venido desde Mali.

“Llegué hace dos años a España en una embarcación neumática, desde Tánger a Tarifa, y después de dar muchas vueltas por Algeciras o Valencia, he regresado La Línea y llevo tres meses en el centro”, detalla Amadou, de 19 años y que sueña con convertirse en futbolista. “Estuve jugando en el Atl. Zabal y he estado entrenando con la Balona (Real Balompédica Li-

bajando y que espera ver en marcha en pocas semanas: adecentar, cimentar y pavimentar la entrada trasera, el espacio exterior y la zona de aparcamiento del recinto.

Una rehabilitación imprescindible para el desarrollo eficiente del centro. Contar con un piso más decente que el actual, con zonas más adecentadas, con un aparcamiento y zona de pérgolas, acceso rodado, rampas, acerado, etc. Una serie de actuaciones que se antojan necesarias y en las que trabaja para obtener colaboraciones y aportaciones que sumen una cifra cercana a los 35.000 euros.

Se trata del objetivo por el que trabaja la asociación actualmente, en la búsqueda de fondos, para seguir dando paso a paso un mejor servicio a una comunidad necesitada de papel en la sociedad.

A home for everyone The Hogar Betania Integral Care Centre provides care and support for people in difficult financial, residential, work or social situations. The association is aiming to turn its next project into a reality: the renovation, paving and roofing of its outdoor area “Falling is allowed, getting back up is obligatory!”. That is the first of the striking slogans that can be found as you cross the threshold. This is a place where you come across lots of different expressions, lots of different faces with different looks. Some are calm and at ease, others are filled with problems that go much beyond those walls, their minds are on what they left behind. Others, have a definitive look of resignation that is caused by being in a situation that, without really knowing the cause, has come to shape their days. This a home for everyone.

Since its foundation in 2013, the Hogar Betania Integral Care Home, has specialised in providing an invaluable multidisciplinary service to the most disadvantage community in the area. It cares for former prisoners, women that have been victims of people trafficking, women that have been victims of sexual exploitation and gender violence, people without a home or with addiction problems, families in poverty, vulnerable minors and young immigrants.

This is praiseworthy work that a great group of people fight for on a daily basis to make a reality thanks to endless battles in search of financial aid, either from the relevant administration, or using their initiative to search for support from private individuals and entities. Now, renovating the centre’s outdoor area is their next big target.

The Centre Hogar Betania, located in the former old people’s home behind the Hospital de La Línea (in Calle Gibraltar), mixes atmospheres that are inherent to situations on the edge with that of situations in search of hope and a better end. There are stories of directionless journeys, of falls and relapses, of dramas and the aim to overcome everything. Therefore, getting back up is essential.

On the long white corridors of the centre, it is possible to read, as if they were legends, the names of institutions that made the renovation of each of the rooms possible, rooms that are now used to shelter up to thirty people. Among long corridors full of drawings and messages of support, a variety of languages and accents, family members, the multidisciplinary room with a television, a computer area and open spaces, an atmosphere of optimism and enthusiasm fills the air.

If one thing is clear at Hogar Betania

it is that everyone has their place, space and right to find a new opportunity to get their life on track.

Some have come from Africa, other dream of becoming footballers, others have been condemned by bad decisions some were just unlucky at the worst of times.

“The residents work within the centre itself although many also have employment outside of it but do not earn a large enough salary to be independent. They are aware that they have to make their own contribution and the majority are willing and committed. Some are skilled in the kitchens, other are good at plumbing and there are others that collaborate on the fruit and vegetable patch.

Everyone has to contribute”, explains Manolo, once of the managers, and a friendly face that gets behind each cause. “Provided that they have moved away from their addictions they can stay with us for a maximum of a year although this period is barely exceeded. We try to listen to their problems, find them a job, schooling, and show understanding so that they can get back into a routine as well as possible following their stay at Hogar Betania”, he adds.

Service and care With welcoming rooms (of two or three beds), many of which are already personalised with details that point to the long stay of some of the guests. Social harmony is achieved with relative normality. The care centre routine is linked up with the other two big services that are provided by the association: the hostel and dining room.

The first of them, the hostel is aimed at people that do not form part of the community on a daily basis at the centre and that are simply looking for a place to spend the night.

A check is carried out last thing in the day and they leave the centre in the morning. A bed, bath and often food, provide relief and shelter to lots of people that come intermittently to the centre.

“When I left jail, what I would mainly do was stop at bars; I had a home without light, or water… I was not heading in a good direction. I have already spent more than a month at Hogar Betania, completely away from everything, sleeping well, resting without problems. They are helping me a lot to keep moving for-

ward”, explains Antonio, one of the residents.

The charity dining room is another of the centre’s main tasks during the day. On a daily basis, residents come to sit at its tables, some of them are responsible for preparing the food of the rest of the community or they carry out tasks linked to food. Additionally, the dining room serves lots of other families and people from outside, with a place and food from Monday to Friday, or by providing food or pre-prepared meals to families in the most adverse situations.

“I came from Cadiz, from the White Cross, when the period ran out. After working as an intern I was left without resources; money is something that runs out sooner or later and you end up needing food, clothing and a place to sleep. Here we are treated well, but you go through a bad time, every situation and story is a universe” says Encarni, who has been a resident at the centre for almost two months. “My dream is to be able to get a job and recover my independence, with my partner”, she adds.

The outside area of Hogar Betania has open spaces, a little courtyard and a garden where a children’s park will soon be fitted, having been provided by a well-known major retail outlet. It provides access to the vegetable patch, one of the projects that most excites residents. “Fruits and vegetables have been planted that are then taken to the dining room, this contributes to improving the centre, which looks better with areas that are well looked after and landscapes. Also, this means everyone contributes to having a healthy diet”, explains one of the volunteers.

Next to the entrance to the patch, there is somewhat neglected building. Over the next few months it will be turned into a children’s play area and a gym, with the support of a well-known bank that carry out social projects. One of the youngest faces at Hogar Betania, who came

from Mali, is hoping to get into shape there.

“I came to Spain two years ago in a RIB vessel, from Tangier to Tarifa, and after lots of time spent in Algeciras and Valencia, I returned to La Línea and I have been at the centre for three months”, states Amadou, aged 19, who dreams of becoming a footballer. “I was playing at Atl. Zabal and I have been training with La Balona and their reserve team over the last few weeks although finally they did not take me on”, says the young man. “I have had the chance to sign for a Gibraltar club but I will have to wait until my documentation is sorted out to finalise it”, he explains, resigned, with his last smile.

New project “At the start we were working exclusively for people without a home and although we are keeping up at work we are increasing our levels of care on five action projects: care for people in emergency situations, the social dining hall, hostel, temporary residence and summer camp”, states Begoña Arana, the centre’s director. “We are the first integral multifunctional centre in Andalusia”, she adds.

At the moment, Hogar Betania is fully immersed in bringing to fruition a project that it has been working on for months and that it hopes to start up in a few weeks: fitting out, cementing and paving the back entrance, the outside space and the centre’s parking area.

This is crucial renovation for the efficient development for the centre, that will provide it a better floor surface than the current one, a car park and a pergola area, car access, ramps, paving, etc. This is series of projects that are necessary and that the centre is working on in order to obtain collaboration and contributions amounting to a figure close to 35,000 euros. This is the target the association is currently working on, looking for funds in order to gradually provide a better service to a community that is in need of a place in society.

This is a place for believing, improving and progressing because “failure is a great opportunity to begin again more intelligently” as another of the slogans on a wall at Hogar Betania states.

El Supremo confirma la postura de los vecinos de Sotogrande y anula las tarifas de agua actuales La sala de lo Contencioso – Administrativo del Tribunal Supremo desestima el recurso de casación interpuesto por administración y concesionaria y obliga a aplicar las tarifas anteriores a las aprobadas en el año 2011 1 M. La sala de lo Contencioso – Administrativo del Tribunal Supremo confirmó la sentencia del año 2014 del Tribunal Superior de Justicia de la Junta de Andalucía que declaraba anular las tarifas de agua aplicadas desde el año 2011 en la zona, aprobadas por la Junta de Andalucía. De esta manera, da la razón a los vecinos de Sotogrande, representados en la EUC Parques de Sotogrande y la Comunidad de Propietarios de Apartamentos Playas y Casas de Río de Puerto de Sotogrande, que denunciaron estas tarifas desde el momento de su aprobación.

Una sentencia que cuenta con “una enorme trascendencia social

y económica”, tal y como asegura el abogado Juan Carmona, uno de los representantes del equipo jurídico que ha llevado la causa por parte de los vecinos.

Carmona explica que la anulación del acuerdo sobre las tarifas desencadena una serie de consecuencias importantes para más de 5.000 vecinos, ya que no sólo afectarían a los residentes en Sotogrande, también a los del resto del Valle del Guadiaro.

“Por un lado, la sentencia obliga a aplicarse de manera inmediata las tarifas anteriores a las aprobadas en el año 2011, es decir, facturar en base a las tasas precedentes.

Por otro, al aplicarse dichas tari-

fas habría que refacturar a los vecinos la diferencia en el precio del agua aplicado durante los últimos años”, explica el letrado. Un procedimiento que aún carece de un camino marcado, ya que podría ser “por medio de una devolución o

por futuras compensaciones”, añade. “El Tribunal Superior de Justicia de Andalucía tendrá que detallar la fórmula elegida para poner en práctica esta sentencia”, matiza.

Ya que de media, aproximadamente, podría estar alrededor del

30% el sobrecoste en las tarifas aplicadas desde dicha aprobación. “Es por ello, que el Tribunal debe especificar cómo ejecutará y se materializará esa compensación”, añade el jurista.

Recordar que el agua es una competencia municipal que el Consistorio tiene traspasada a la Mancomunidad comarcal, que a su vez, ésta entregó en concesión a Sotogrande S.A., actualmente, Aguas del Valle del Guadiaro SL. Este medio se puso en contacto con la empresa concesionaria para ofrecer su versión sobre la sentencia, sin obtener respuesta.

La empresa no quiso realizar ninguna valoración al respecto.

Las obras en el Casino Admiral San Roque marchan a buen ritmo, estando prevista su puesta en funcionamiento a finales del mes de julio. Así lo explicaron los responsables de Novomatic.

La inversion, en esta primera fase, es de más de cinco millones de euros y contempla algunas novedades además de la rehabilitación del antiguo casino.

Además, la empresa pretende construir en el futuro un hotel de más de cien habitaciones.El primer edil, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, realizó una visita para conocer

su marcha: “hemos podido comprobar el estado de las obras en la sala de juegos del casino, la novedad que supone el bingo, la sala de fiestas y la zona de ocio, además de que se ha comenzado con la rehabilitación de los antiguos bungalows. Es importante que también se preste un servicio de alojamiento a los visitantes, mientras se construye el hotel previsto”.

“Las obras de esta primera fase -señaló Ruiz Boix- está previsto que finalicen en el mes de junio, para que luego llegue la maqui-

naria, el mobiliario y el resto del equipamiento. La fecha prevista para ponerse en servicio es la última semana del mes de julio”.

Las cuentas y Bruselas Un viejo refrán español, o más bien hispanoamericano, es: “las cuentas claras y el chocolate espeso”, que significa que hay que llamar a las cosas por su nombre.

Para el asunto que hoy me ocupa es posible que valga mejor un refrán inglés en el mismo sentido: “to call a spade a spade”, que se refiere a contar la verdad de las cosas, aunque no sea agradable.

La relación de los países de la eurozona con la Comisión Europea no siempre es agradable, sobre todo cuando hay discrepancias a propósito de las cuentas públicas, que es lo que sucede ahora con España. Nuestro país ha incumplido el déficit en 2015, con lo que en principio correspondería que las autoridades de Bruselas nos impusieran una sanción.

Pero en el mundo de la política el choco-

late no siempre es espeso, porque lo diluyen los propios políticos. En este caso, se ha iniciado una negociación, en la cual el Gobierno español está intentando, si no suprimir la multa, al menos postergarla hasta después de las elecciones, de modo que sea un nuevo Gobierno el que lidie con el problema.

Un argumento que esgrimió Mariano Rajoy es que la economía mundial está creciendo menos de lo previsto, y esto es verdad. Sin embargo, y posiblemente Bruselas se aferre a esto, también es verdad que la economía española no solo no se ha frenado, sino que ha crecido a buen ritmo, estimulada por los bajos precios del crudo.

También alega el Ejecutivo que la des-

viación del déficit no es culpa del Estado sino de las Comunidades Autónomas.

Esto también es verdad, pero siempre podrá la Comisión Europea responder que esas comunidades no son totalmente “autónomas”, en el sentido de que el Estado posee mecanismos financieros como para forzarlas a ser más disciplinadas en sus Haciendas Públicas.

Y, por fin, otro recurso de los Gobiernos, empleado también ahora por el de Rajoy, es asegurarle a la Comisión que en el futuro sus cuentas serán más rigurosas. ¿Qué pasará al final? No lo sabemos, pero sí sabemos lo suficiente para temer que el rigor, o los ajustes, no pasen necesariamente por un menor gasto público sino por unos impuestos aún mayores.

Lastly, another resource of Governments, now also used by Rajoy, is to assure the Commission that in future their accounts will be more rigorous. What will happen in the end? We do not know, but we do know enough to fear that rigour, or adjustments, will not necessarily come from reduced public spending, but rather from even higher taxes.

El verano toma forma en Sotogrande

La administración local perfila los últimos detalles para la puesta a punto, mantenimiento y conservación de playas.

La regeneración de la playa de Sotogrande avanza según los plazos y a la espera del incremento de aporte de arena.

El Consistorio aumenta la partida destinada al servicio de socorrismo para evitar ciertos ‘vacíos’, ocurridos el pasado verano.

Como novedad, las playas de Cala Sardina y Torreguadiaro recuperan el distintivo de las banderas azules. Las playa de Alcaidesa-Faro (Torrecarbonera) y Puerto Sotogrande, la mantienen un año más.

Con el inicio del mes de junio, según la inmensa mayoría de los calendarios oficiales en los que a la administración se refiere, se da por comenzada la temporada oficialmente de playas. Precisamente, es para esas fechas cuando la afluencia de usuarios y bañistas se incrementa considerablemente en las playas de la zona, siempre y cuando se produzca un entorno de tiempo apropiado, como suele suceder precisamente en este destino privilegiado.

Los chiringuitos se encuentran ya a pleno rendimiento desde las primeras semanas del mes de mayo y como ‘casi’ todos los veranos, la previsión de infraestructuras y logística en las playas de la zona se retrasa algo aunque no en exceso.

Muchos de los servicios ya se encuentran en funcionamiento y el resto pasarán a estar disponibles a lo largo del mes de junio. Algunas de manera inmediata y otros, como el de socorrismo, a mediados o finales de mes.

Sin duda, una de las noticias

más relevantes de la temporada en el apartado de costas, es la recuperación, con la gestión del Ayuntamiento de San Roque, de las banderas azules para las playas de Cala Sardina y Torreguadiaro; un vez se han cumplido todos los pará-

metros. Recordar que hace dos años, éstas fueron retiradas por la Adeac (Asociación de Educación Ambiental y del Consumidor), la entidad que las otorga, por no cumplir todos los requisitos. Concretamente, el de contar con una empresa externa en el servicio de socorrismo. En tal periodo, el Consistorio, para evitar sobrecostes, tenía delegada esa función a Protección Civil, entidad que no reconoce la Adeac para otorgar la Bandera Azul.

Además de esas dos, las playa de Alcaidesa – Faro (conocida como Torrecarbonera) y el Puerto Deportivo de Sotogrande, mantienen un año más dicho distintivo.

Playa de Sotogrande También, otro de los puntos más importantes al inicio del verano en la zona se sitúa en

la playa de Sotogrande. El pasado jueves, 23 de mayo, comenzaron los trabajos para la regeneración de la playa de Sotogrande, junto al segundo de los espigones construidos (delante de la urbanización conocida como ‘los lacasitos’). Tras varios días de trabajo, derivando la arena que se acumula en la desembocadura del río Guadiaro hasta dicha zona del litoral, el aspecto cambia mucho al que estábamos acostumbrados en los últimos años.

Recordar que Demarcación de Costas, que depende del Ministerio del Interior, tenía aprobado un aporte de arena de un total de 20.000 metros cúbicos de arena, de los cuales la mitad eran aportados por dicha administración y el resto por el Consistorio local. Aunque insuficiente para la regeneración de la playa, este aporte de arena es el primero que se produce en años, de los cuales los últimos

han estado protagonizados por varios desencuentros entre la administración local, liderada por Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, y el delegado provincial del gobierno, Javier de Torre.

Tras la visita de éste último a la zona, el pasado mes de abril, se abrió la posibilidad de doblar la cantidad de arena aportada para este año; pero para ello, el Ayuntamiento deberá contar con nueva aprobación medioambiental por parte de la Junta de Andalucía. Gestión que se encuentra actualmente en trámites para tratar de cristalizar una aporte de arena para esta temporada de 40.000 metros cúbicos de arena, en total.

Sea de la manera que sea, la playa comienza a recuperar un aspecto que hacía años no tenía. Dicho proceso requiere de una constancia y fluidez en

aportes de arena, tanto en ese espigón (norte) como al primero que se construyó (sur), delante del club de playa. Sotogrande prepares for summer • The local government is putting the final touches on beach maintenance and conservation.

• The regeneration of the Sotogrande beach is going according to plan and awaits the supply of more sand.

With the start of the month of June, according to the vast majority of the official calendars which refer to the administration, comes the official start of the beach season. Specifically, it is around this time that the number of swimmers and beachgoers increases significantly on the beaches in the area, as long as the weather is suitable, as it normally is at this luxurious destination.

The beach bars have now been in full operation since early May and as in ‘nearly’ all summers, the opening of infrastructure and logistics on the area’s beaches is slightly behind schedule, but not exceedingly. Whatever the means, the appearance of the beach is looking better than it has done for many years. The process requires consistency and fluidity in sand provision, both on that breakwater (north) and the first one to be

built (south) in front of the beach club. If both institutions were able to maintain their dialogue and cooperation to cement a definitive and effective recovery of the beach, into which both money and effort have been invested by the local residents, it would be fantastic news.

Services and maintenance In terms of the services on the various beaches in the area, there are several that are now ready and in operation. This is the case of the fitting of the walkways and the different modules, which have been fixed and are in perfect working order, after another year has gone by. Municipal workers carried out the installation of these walkways and the repair of the various defects in the service and attention modules beside the beach .

Regarding the lifeguard service, a few days ago the tender took place. Several companies applied and the opening of envelopes will take place. There will be an increase and expansion of nearly 70,000 euros in the section for this service, as specified by the councillor and deputy mayor of Valle del Guadiaro, Óscar Ledesma.

“The budget for this service has been increased, modifying certain points of the specifications. ¿Es positivo organizar diferentes iniciativas y propuestas turísticas para dinamizar la zona?

En las últimas semanas se han llevado a cabo en la zona, tanto en Sotogrande como en todo el entorno y zonas de influencia, un buen número de actividades que vienen a reforzar el

atractivo y la atención del sector turístico hacia todo el Valle del Guadiaro.

Con actividades tanto de perfil deportivo, que con asiduidad son las que gozan de mayor

reclamo en el entorno de Sotogrande, tanto con eventos y citas orientadas a la vela, al golf o al propio polo, para muestra el gran éxito de la última edición del Torneo de La Quinta, animan

la entrada del verano en la zona.

Del mismo modo, propuestas como la de la Feria del Atún en la Ribera del Marlin de La Marina de Sotogrande, que este año cuenta con dos ciclos de dura-

ción, redondean las iniciativas cara a la primera oleada de turistas. Por ello, el Periódico de Sotogrande ha querido reunir en esta ‘Ventana’ algunas opiniones la respecto.

Campo de Gibraltar Gran éxito de la recreación, basada en la Fundación de la Ciudad de San Roque ✑ Redacción

Varios centenares de gibraltareños, que huían de la Roca tras la entrada en la misma de soldados ingleses y holandeses, se refugiaron junto a la ermita de San Roque, a la que llegaron cargando sus pertenencias más preciadas y cantando ante la nueva vida que se les presenta.

Quizás este sería el inicio de una crónica escrita hace 310 años sobre un acto, la Fundación de la Ciudad de San Roque, que más de un centenar de descendientes de los primeros sanroqueños recrearon por las calles de la Ciudad de Gibraltar

en San Roque.

Vestidos como en aquellos años, quizás con más alegría de la que pudieran llevar los originarios gibraltareños fundadores de San Roque, se recreó ese momento clave que se festeja cada año el 21 de mayo.

Estuvieron acompañados en todo momento por centenares de sanroqueños, que no quisieron perderse esta primera recreación. El alcalde y miembros del equipo de Gobierno felicitaron en la salida a los figurantes, entre los que se encontraban también varios miembros de la

Corporación Municipal.

Además de sus pertenencias, los fundadores de San Roque traían desde el peñón los archivos oficiales de la ciudad de Gibraltar y los demás documentos españoles que había la roca, así como la parte del patrimonio histórico que se pudo rescatar.

Los honores y distinciones con motivo del 310 Aniversario de la Fundación de la Ciudad se entregaron en el transcurso de un Pleno Institucional, celebrado en el Teatro Juan Luis Galiardo. Durante dicho Pleno Institucional se nombraron dos Hijos Predilectos, tres Hijos Adoptivos y se entregaron cinco Menciones de Honor.

Hay que recordar que la fecha oficial del cumpleaños de San Roque es el 21 de mayo, pero la Corporación aprobó por unanimidad adelantar esta sesión plenaria al 20 para no coinci-

dir con la primera recreación histórica de la Fundación de la Ciudad, que tendrá lugar mañana sábado por la tarde-noche.

Arcgisa invertirá 25.000 euros en la rehabilitación del depósito de agua potable de San Enrique 1 M. Gil

El vicepresidente de Mancomunidad y consejero delegado de Arcgisa, David Gil, anunció la próxima ejecución de varios proyectos de mejora de instalaciones en los núcleos poblacionales de Villa Victoria y San Enrique, en San Roque, y Santa Rosa en Los Barrios. Estos trabajos contarán con una inversión conjunta de 43.500 euros.

Arcgisa will invest 25,000 euros in fitting out the drinking water tank in San Enrique The vice president of the Association of Municipalities and the managing director of Arcgisa, David Gil, announced the next implementation of several improvement projects at facilities in the towns of Villa Victoria and San Enrique, in San Roque, and Santa Rosa in Los Barrios. This work will have overall investment of 43,500 euros.

Specifically, this involves the construction of a sand settling pit in the area of Villa Victoria, the fitting out of the drinking water tank in San Enrique and the ac-

quisition of electric equipment to replace the current equipment at the transformation centre in Santa Rosa (Los Barrios).

With regard to the drinking water tank in San Enrique-Torreguadiaro, investment of €25,476.08 has been set aside for the general comprehensive refurbishment of these facilities, whose current state requires the replacement of the structure which has detachment problems. The work will be carried out by the company Cimentia Construcción y Gestión SL.

En concreto se trata de la construcción de una arqueta de decantación de arenas en la zona de Villa Victoria, la rehabilitación del depósito de agua potable de San Enrique y la adquisición de un equipo eléctrico para la sustitución del existente en el centro de transformación de Santa Rosa (Los Barrios).

Por lo que respecta al depó-

sito de agua potable de San Enrique-Torreguadiaro, se ha previsto una inversión de 25.476,08€ para la rehabilitación integral de estas instalaciones, cuyo estado actual requiere de la sustitución de su estructura que cuenta con problemas de desprendimiento. El impuesto sobre el patrimonio y los no residentes Dado que se acerca el periodo para proceder a la declaración del impuesto sobre el pa-trimonio no está de más recordar que el impuesto sobre el patrimonio sigue vigente y será exigible en 2016.

This is a right and as such it can be waived which means that it is necessary to analyse which of the alternatives are most appropriate from a tax point of view and decide be-tween applying either state legislation or that of the autonomous community.

So, for example, if a resident had property in Madrid they would be more interested in applying the legislation of this autonomous community, which allows them to enjoy an allowance of 100% on the value of that property.

In any case, ask your tax advisor about what would be most suitable in this regard.

Il Soño, que hace dos años fue galardonado como uno de los tres chiringuitos más ecoló-

gicos de todo el país, lleva a cabo como uno de sus sellos las prácticas ecológicas tanto en su actividad como su compromiso con la limpieza de la playa.

Los más pequeños disfrutaron a su llegada a la playa de un nutritivo desayuno y ocuparon la jornada con diferentes actividades y dinámicas, a través

de juegos, dibujos,…, relacionados con los buenos hábitos en el mantenimiento de playas.

La Agencia de Calidad Sanitaria certifica los valores del Hospital Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar El Hospital Quirónsalud del Campo de Gibraltar recibió la certificación de calidad que otorga la Consejería de Salud a través de la Agencia de Calidad Sanitaria de Andalucía (ACSA).

La entrega de este reconocimientose llevó a cabo en el propio centro con la presencia del delegado territorial de Igualdad, Salud y Políticas Sociales en Cádiz, Manuel Herrera Sánchez, el gerente del Área de Salud del Campo de Gibraltar, Andrés Morillo, el director de la Agencia de Calidad Sanitaria de Andalucía, Antonio Torres Olivera, la directora gerente territorial del Grupo Quirónsalud en Andalucía, Pilar Serrano Moya y el Director del Hospital Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar Antonio Feria Aliaga.

El centro gaditano se convierte en el primero del grupo Quirónsalud en apostar por la certificación a través del Modelo Andaluz de Calidad y alcanzar el nivel avanzado de calidad, tras superar casi un 70% de los estándares que recoge el Manual de Centros hospitalarios (en total, 280 parámetros). Entre las fortalezas identificadas por la Agencia de Calidad Sanitaria de Andalucía en su evaluación, destacan las medidas de accesibilidad, como el control de acceso y el circuito cerrado de televisión (CCTV) instalados en el área de Neonatología, que aseguran y garantizan la seguridad y vigilancia de los recién nacidos.

Gran éxito, una edición más, de la marcha solidaria en Sotogrande Sotosol Walk & Run con un importante número de asistentes que convirtieron en toda una fiesta la carrera solidaria. En esta ocasión, como novedad, Trocadero Sotogrande se convirtió en el punto de salida y meta de la marcha. Los participantes, con 10 euros de inscripción, pudieron optar bien por realizar la mitad del recorrido (8 kms.) o entero (16). Una carrera solidaria que llenó de color las calles de la Urbanización por una buena causa.

Educación Colegio Internacional Sotogrande ✑ Redacción

En el Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande, el deporte siempre ha sido muy importante y este año, la dedicación de sus equipos de fútbol y entrenadores ha obtenido recompensa, ya que los equipos del colegio han logrado un hat-trick de títulos europeos.

El curso escolar comenzó en octubre para el equipo de chicos menores de 11 años, que se llevó la victoria en la Mediterranean Cup de Verona (Italia) con un tenso penalti.

Diciembre fue el mes en el que los chicos menores de 19 años volvieron de Portugal como triunfales vencedores del European Interschools Championship.

Después en mayo, fue el turno de los equipos de chicas y chicos menores de 14 años de viajar a Italia por la Mediterranean Cup. El equipo de

las chicas acabó con un fantástico cuarto puesto, mientras que tras tres días de intensos partidos, el equipo de chicos del SIS fue coronado

campeón de élite.

Los entrenadores comentaron que no solo fueron vencedores los equipos, sino también la deportividad y

la conducta en todos los viajes, lo que ha hecho que sean en grandes embajadores del SIS. ¡Enhorabuena a todos los

participantes!

Sotogrande International School score a hat trick of titles !

Sport is always an important focus at Sotogrande International School, and this year the dedication of their football teams and coaches has really paid off as the school’s teams won a hat trick of European titles.

The school year started well in October for the under 11 boys team, who snatched victory in a tense penalty shoot out in the Mediterranean Cup in Verona Italy.

December saw the under 19 boys return from Portugal tri-

umphant winners of the European Interschools Championship.

Then in May it was the turn of the under 14s girls and boys teams to travel Italy for the Mediterranean Cup. The girls team finished in a fantastic

fourth position and, after three days of intense matches the SIS boys were crowned Elite Champions!

The coaches commented that, not only were the teams champions, but their sportsmanship and conduct throughout the

trips made them great ambassadors for SIS. Congratulations to all involved !

CEIP Barbésula ¡Investigando el origen del nombre de nuestro cole!

Durante varios meses, hemos llevado a cabo una Formación en centro basada en el Trabajo por Proyectos, con un único objetivo: Conocer el origen del nombre de nuestro cole: “Barbésula”.

Profesores/as y alumnos/as hemos trabajado a la par investigando y descubriendo curiosidades sobre este tema. Tras esta interesante experiencia, habría que destacar los logros que hemos conseguido gracias al Trabajo por Proyectos: - Al nacer de los propios intereses e inquietudes del alumnado, podemos trabajar todas las áreas curriculares mientras los alumn@s están embelesados investigando, experimentando y viviendo cada uno de los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje a la vez que disfrutan con ello.

- Esta metodología es muy eficaz para atender a la diversidad del alumnado. El proyecto ha permitido que nos niños con necesidades específicas de apoyo educativo aprendan, incluidos en sus grupos ordinarios, sin necesidad de adaptaciones. Al mismo tiempo que el grupo ha mejorado el

clima de clase.

- También se favorecen las relaciones sociales y, con ellas, las normas de convivencia y valores tan importantes como la cooperación y el respeto, ya que los proyectos facilitan el trabajo en pequeños grupos y, por tanto, les ayuda a aprender a organizar el trabajo, las ideas y a repartir responsabilidades.

- Por otro lado se potencia la comunicación, la autoestima, la educación inclusiva y la atención a la diversidad. Además conecta el aprendizaje en la escuela con la realidad y ofrece al alumnado diversas oportunidades de colaboración.

Entre otras, las actividades que

hemos realizado han sido las siguientes: Una visita a Carteia que nos encantó y que sirvió de punto de partida. A partir de ahí, hemos conocido la forma de vida romana, las profesiones, las construcciones, los números romanos, también hemos conocido cuál era la comida típica, los distintos nombres del río que pasa por esta zona, el Río Guadiaro, han elaborado mosaicos, han plantado un huerto escolar, y, por último, han participado en un lipdub que pueden ver en el blog de nuestro colegio: http://ceipbarbesula.blogspot. com.es/ Lo hemos realizado con mucho cariño ¡ESPERAMOS QUE OS GUSTE!

¡Fin de curso CEIP Barbésula!

Numerosas actividades con motivo de nuestro fin de curso con la colaboración del Ayuntamiento de San Roque y del AMPA Cañahonda, será el próximo lunes 20 de junio y nuestros alumn@s podrán disfrutar de las siguientes actividades: - Un fantástico tobogán acuático con piscinas y monitores especializados en este tipo de actividades.

- Pintacaras, actuaciones de payasos y, en directo, también en nuestro colegio tendrá lugar el: “CASTING TIPO FAMA Y TALENTO” en la que podrán participar los alumn@s que lo deseen de manera voluntaria.

- De 17:00h. a 19:00h. tendrá lugar el acto de Graduación del alumnado de Educación Infantil de 5 años y del alumnado de 6º de Primaria que promociona, así como los bailes que han preparado los diferentes cursos. Este año la temática de nuestra fiesta gira entorno a los “BAILES DEL MUNDO”.

Como novedad, este año a partir de las 14:00h. se abrirán las puertas del centro y en el patio central del colegio habrá una “GRAN PAELLADA” ofrecida gratis para todos los asistentes por el Ayuntamiento y el AMPA Cañahonda. Desde el CEIP Barbésula: ¡Gracias a tod@s y Feliz Verano¡

End of school year at CEIP Barbésula !

There will be lots of activities to mark the end of the school year with collaboration from the Council of San Roque and AMPA Cañahonda, it will take place on Monday 20 June and our pupils will be able to enjoy the following activities: - A fantastic water slide with swimming pools and supervisors that specialise in this kind of activities.

- There will be face painters, performances from clowns, and live, our school will also have its “FAME AND TALENT SHOW” in which pupils that want to can participate voluntarily.

- From 5pm to 7pm, the Graduation ceremony for Infant Education pupils aged 5 will take along with that of pupils from Primary 6 that are moving up, there will also be dances that have been prepared by the different school years. This year, the theme of our party will be “DANCES OF THE WORLD”.

As a new feature, this year from 2pm, the doors of the school will be opened and in the school’s central playground there will be a “BIG PAELLA” offered free by the Council and AMPA Cañahonda to everyone attending. From CEIP Barbésula: Thanks to everyone and Happy Summer!

Researching the origins of the name of our school!

For several months, we have carried out Training at our school based around Project Work, with a single aim: To discover the origins of the name of our school: “Barbésula”.

Teachers and pupils have worked together to research and discover interesting information about this matter. Following this intriguing experience, we need to highlight some of the achievements we managed thanks to this Project Work: - As it arose from the interests and concerns of the pupils themselves, we were able of work on all areas of the curriculum while the pupils are captivated carrying out research, experimenting and experience each of the teaching-learning processes while enjoying it.

- This method is very effective in terms of satisfying the range of pupils. The project made it possible for children with specific educational support needs to learn, including in ordinary groups, without the need for adaptations.

Also, the group simultaneously improved the class atmosphere.

- The work also encouraged so-

cial relations and, with them, tolerance and values as important as cooperation and respect, as the projects facilitate work in small groups, and therefore, it helps pupils to organise their work, ideas and to share responsibilities.

- On the other hand, it boosts communication, self-esteem, inclusive education and caring for diversity. Also, it brings the school’s teaching into contact with reality, and offers pupils different opportunities to collaborate.

Among others, the activities carried out were as follows: A visit to Carteia that we loved and which served as a starting point. It enabled us to learn about Roman life, professions, buildings, Roman numerals, we also learned what their typical food was, the different names for the river that goes through the area, the Guadiaro River. Bonificación a trabajadores autónomos por conciliación de la vida profesional y familiar vinculada a la contratación En virtud del Real Decreto-Ley 1/2015 de 27 de febrero los trabajadores incluidos en el Régimen Especial de la Seguridad Social de trabajadores por cuenta propia o autónomos tendrán derecho, por un plazo de 12 MESES, a una bonificación del 100% de la cuota de autónomo por contingencias comunes, tomando como base la media de los 12 meses anteriores a la fecha en que solicite la medida. En caso de que el autónomo lleve menos de 12 meses en alta, la base media se calculará desde la fecha de alta.

Los supuestos en los que se podrá solicitar son: • Por cuidado de menores de 7 años que tengan a su cargo. En

caso de que el menor cumpliese los 7 años con anterioridad al fin de la bonificación, ésta se mantendrá hasta cumplir el periodo máximo de 12 meses.

• Por tener a su cargo un familiar, por consanguinidad ó afinidad hasta el segundo grado inclusive, en situación de dependencia, debidamente acreditada.

Y los requisitos que se han de cumplir son: 1. Estará condicionada a la permanencia en alta del autónomo y a la CONTRATACION de un trabajador, a tiempo completo ó parcial, que deberá mantenerse durante todo el período de disfrute. La duración del contrato deberá ser al menos

de 3 meses desde la fecha de inicio del disfrute de la bonificación.

2. En caso de extinción del contrato del trabajador dentro de éstos tres meses, deberá ser sustituido para no perder y tener que devolver la bonificación.

3. Si se realiza el contrato a tiempo parcial, la jornada no podrá ser inferior al 50% de la jornada a tiempo completo. La bonificación será, por ello, del 50%.

4. En caso de incumplimiento, el autónomo estará obligado a reintegrar el importe de la bonificación disfrutada. No procederá el reintegro cuando la extinción se deba a un despido

disciplinario u objetivo, dimisión del trabajador, resolución dentro del período de prueba, etc.

5. SOLO TENDRAN DERECHO A LA BONIFICACION los autónomos que CAREZCAN DE TRABAJADORES ASALARIADOS en la fecha de inicio de la bonificación y durante los 12 meses anteriores. No obstante, no se tendrán en cuenta los trabajadores que hayan tenido un contrato de interinidad para sustituir al propio autónomo en caso de maternidad, paternidad, adopción, acogimiento, riesgo de embarazo y riesgo durante la lactancia.

Discount for freelance workers who reconcile professional life with a family linked with hiring By virtue of the Royal Decree-Law 1/2015 of 27 February, workers included in the Special Social Security Scheme as freelancers or autonomous workers, will be entitled, for 12 MONTHS, to an allowance of 100% of the freelance fee for common contingencies, using the 12 months before the date the measure is requested on to form an average base. In cases where the freelancer has been registered for fewer than 12 months, the average base will be calculated from the freelance registration date.

This can be requested in the following situations:

• If you care for a child younger than 7 years old. In cases where the minor turns 7 before the end of the allowance period, the allowance will be maintained until the maximum period of 12 months has expired.

• If you have to look after a family member, either a blood relation or a relative through marriage, who has up to a second degree disability, or is dependent on care, and is duly accredited as such.

The requirements to be met are as follows: 1. Be permanently signed up as a freelance worker and HIRED, either full or part time, and

this must be maintained throughout the time of the allowance. The contract must be for at least 3 months after the date that the allowance starts on.

2. In cases where the worker’s contract is annulled within this three-month period, they will have to be replaced in order not to lose and have to return the allowance.

3. If a part-time contract is made, the working schedule can be no less than 50% of the full-time contact. As such, the allowance will be 50% of the full-time allowance.

4. In cases where the conditions are not met, the freelancer will

be required to pay back the total amount of allowance they have benefitted from. The reimbursement will not go ahead in cases where the annulment is due to a disciplinary or objective dismissal, when the worker has resigned, when a ruling has been made during the trial period, etc.

5. ONLY freelances who DO NOT HAVE SALARIED EMPLOYEES WILL BE ENTITLED TO THE ALLOWANCE. This means not having employees on the date of the allowance and with the preceding 12 months. However, this does not include workers who may

have had a temporary contract to replace the freelancer themselves in cases of maternity or paternity leave, adoption, fostering, pregnancy and breast feeding risks.

6. In principle, this measure is not applied to freelancers working for companies, as in these cases, it is the company who makes the contract.

- La iniciativa Sotosol Walk & Fun se celebró un año más en Sotogrande. Una seguida marcha solidaria que cada año aumenta en fondos para una buena causa y en repercusión en la zona. ¡Bravo por los organizadores!

- The holding of the Tuna Fair, now into its third edition, has become the main attraction in Sotogrande Marina. It is a fantastic initiative that ensures summer gets off to a strong start in the area.

- The Sotosol Walk & Fun iniative was held once again this year in Sotogrande. Every year the walk increases the amount of money raised for a good cause and has an impact on the area. Bravo to the organisers!

Sergio García dona la recaudación obtenida en Valderrama durante el Open de España de Golf a la AECC La Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer de Castellón recibe un talón por importe de 65.480 euros ✑ Redacción

El golfistaf Sergio García, a través de su Fundación, hizo entrega de un talón de 65.480 euros a la Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer de Castellón, por el importe de la recaudación obtenida durante la celebración del Real Club Valderrama Open de España, disputado en el prestigioso trazado en Sotogrande el pasado mes de abril.

La AECC de Castellón destinará dicha cantidad a la financiación del piso que la Asociación tiene en la provincia, y que ofrece de manera gratuita a fa-

miliares y pacientes afectados de cáncer que necesitan trasladarse a la capital castellonense mientras reciben tratamiento.

Durante la semana del torneo, la Fundación Sergio García y la organización del Real Club Valderrama Open de España llevaron a cabo distintas actividades con el propósito de recaudar fondos que se destinarían a la AECC. La entrega del talón tuvo lugar ayer en el Club de Campo del Mediterráneo, en Borriol, con la asistencia de Consuelo Fernández, vicepresidenta de la Fundación Sergio García;

Antonio García, secretario de la FSG; Carlos Camahort, presidente de la AECC de Castellón; Salvador Pavía, tesorero de la AECC de Castellón; Sixto Barbera, vicepresidente de la AECC de Castellón; Salomé Esteller, coordinadora de la AECC; y Aurora Vicente y Luisa Martínez, Psico-oncólogas JP de la AECC.

Sergio García gana el AT&T Byron Nelson de Golf en un final agónico El castellonense Sergio García levantó su noveno triunfo en el Circuito Americano Masculino (PGA) al imponerse por la vía de la épica en el AT&T Byron Nelson. Con una trayectoria impresionante a lo largo del torneo, el español se jugó el título en el campo de TPC Four Seasons Resort (Irving, Texas, Estados Unidos) en un play off de desempate ante el estadounidense Brooks Koepka.

Sus vueltas de 63, 66, 68 y 68 golpes para 265 al total, -15, eran ya de por sí merecedoras del triunfo, máxime cuando habían servido para dejar atrás a gente como Jordan Spieth o Matt Kuchar, pero Brooks Koepka no estaba por la labor. Con un 71 el líder al inicio del día empató en lo más alto de la clasificación con el de Borriol.

El play off de desempate se resolvió por la vía rápida gracias al temple de Sergio García y a la discreta salida de Brooks Koepka. El par era suficiente para que el español lograse un triunfo importante en vísperas de ese reto que suponen los Juegos Olímpicos. Buen presagio.

La joven golfista María Parra, de SIGA Sotogrande, consiguió firmar la tercera victoria española en el LET Access Series 2016 de Golf.

Tres en cuatro pruebas. La guadiareña selló su gesta en el PGA Halmstad Ladies Open, celebrado en el campo sueco de Haverdal Golf Club.

Parra se aferró al liderato con su tercera vuelta bajo par en el torneo, un 69 fruto de tres birdies sin errores. Apenas un bogey en tres jornadas hablan de su solidez. Gracias a ese resultado aguantó las acometidas de la escocesa Michele Thompson, que la puso en apuros con un 68. Dos golpes separaron a ambas en la clasificación final.

María Parra, que es la actual campeona de Europa Individual, concluyó los 36 primeros hoyos con -6, fruto de rondas de 71 y 67 golpes. Con esos resultados afrontó la jornada final desde el liderato.

Los XIX Juegos Deportivos del Estrecho se celebran el 4 de junio en San Roque El Valle del Guadiaro acoge las pruebas de gimnasia rítmica, pruebas hípicas y golf ✑ Manuel Gil

San Roque acogerá la XIX edición de los Juegos Deportivos del Estrecho a partir del próximo 4 de junio. Participarán un total de 1.265 niños y niñas de San Roque, Los Barrios, Tarifa, Algeciras, Ceuta, Gibraltar y La Línea, a los que hay que sumar 266 técnicos, la mayoría monitores de las 20 modalidades deportivas.

Las modalidades deportivas que se disputarán son atletismo, atletismo adaptado, baloncesto, balonmano, ciclismo, fútbol-sala, fútbol 7, fútbol 7 adaptado, gimnasia rítmica, golf, golf adaptado, hípica, judo, natación, natación adaptada, petanca, pádel, tenis, taekwondo, voley-playa y waterpolo.

Por municipios, el mayor número de deportistas procederá de San Roque (225), seguido a poca distancia por Algeciras (211). A continuación, Ceuta (194), La Línea (186), Gibraltar (168), Los Barrios

(161) y, finalmente, Tarifa (149).

Por géneros, el 65% del total serán niños y el 35% niñas.

Realizado el sorteo del número de participación de las ciudades participantes, resultando con el número 1 Tarifa; con el 2 San Roque; con el 3 Gibraltar; con el 4 Algeciras; con el 5 La Línea; con el 6 Los Barrios y con el 7 Ceuta.

El desfile y la ceremonia inaugural, a las 9 de la mañana, y el acto de Clausura y entrega de medallas a todos los participantes tendrá lugar desde las 20:30 horas en la Plaza de Toros.

Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar imparte un curso de primeros auxilios a voluntarios de los Juegos del Estrecho Los profesionales sanitarios de Hospital Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar impartieron durante dos días un curso de formación en primeros auxilios a un nutrido grupo de voluntarios que colaborarán en los XIX Juegos del Estrecho que se celebrarán el próximo 4 de junio en la localidad de San Roque.

Los cursos se celebraron en el Hospital Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar bajo la coordinación del doctor Francisco Romero Bermejo, especialista en medicina intensiva y director médico del centro sanitario la doctora María José Machuca, coordinadora de urgencias y la médico de urgencias Pilar Bellanco.

Se desarrollaron en dos sesiones, manejo inicial de lesiones deportivas y aprendizaje de medidas de soporte vital básico.

“Se producen 200 muertes al año en España durante la práctica de actividades deportivas, lo que le añade importancia al desarrollo de este curso a las personas que estarán a pie de pista con los chavales durante las competiciones”, comenta Francisco José Romero Bermejo, coordinador del mismo.

La formación se enmarca dentro del acuerdo de colaboración entre el centro hospitalario y el ayuntamiento de San Roque por el que el Centro Hospitalario prestará soporte sanitario durante las pruebas deportivas que concentrarán en la localidad a cerca de un millar de jóvenes con presencia de ambulancia y equipo médico desplazados en la localidad.

Comienza la cuenta atrás para el Campeonato del Mundo de J80 en aguas de Sotogrande Menos de un mes para el inicio de la segunda gran cita mundialista en la Marina de Sotogrande en este 2016, con más de medio centenar de barcos inscritos hasta la fecha 1 Manuel Gil

Tras la disputa del Campeonato de España, la flota nacional se enfrentará en menos de un mes a la gran cita deportiva de más alto nivel : el Campeonato del Mundo de J80, del 25 de junio al 2 de julio en la Marina de Sotogrande.

Desde 2009, año en el que se navegó el mundial en Santander, España no ha vuelto a ser sede de la cita mundial por excelencia.

Más de medio centenar de embarcaciones J80, representando a Rusia, Francia, Italia, Reino Unido, Noruega o España, ya figuran como pre-inscritos. La flota española, gran dominadora a nivel mundial durante los últimos años, intentará revalidar un títu-

lo que en las últimas ediciones tiene color español y que en esta ocasión se disputará en territorio nacional.

Tras lo visto en el Campeonato de España de J80 todo indica que el Campeonato del Mundo será una de las pruebas más disputadas en los últimos años.

Respecto al Nacional, las tres jornadas de prueba ofrecieron una disputa constante entre tres unidades. Si en la primera jornada el liderato provisional era para el balear HM Hoteles, seguido del catalán Nautica Watches de Jose María Van der Ploeg y del francés Courrier Junior de Eric Brezellec (que acudía al nacional como prueba cara al Campeoanto del Mundo), en la segunda era

el Nautica Watches el que asaltaba la primera posición, seguido del Bribón-Movistar y del HM Hoteles.

La jornada final, con la disputa de las tres últimas pruebas de las nueve programadas, dejaba al rojo vivo la clasificación. El HM Hoteles se llevó el gato al agua con tan sólo un punto de ventaja sobre el Bribón-Movistar de Marc de Antonio y dos al Nautica Watches de Van der Ploeg.

La organización del Club Náutico Bevelle, ya se encuentra habilitando en el Puerto de Sotogrande todas las infraestructuras necesarias para la prueba y el espacio que ocuparán en sus instalaciones el más de medio centenar de J80 que acudirán.

The organisers from Club Naútico Bevelle are already fitting out all of the infrastructure needed in the Port of Sotogrande in order to hold the event, as well as the space that will be taken up at their facilities by the more than fifty J80 vessels that will come.

Los alumnos de Taekwon-Do del CEIP Gloria Fuertes de Guadiaro recibieron sus diplomas de cambio de cinturón. Más de 30 alumnos del CEIP Gloria Fuertes, a través del AMPA del centro, reciben clases de Taekwondo, impartidas por el profesor de esta disciplina deportiva, Cristóbal Bernal, actual campeón en el Masters de Andalucía celebrado el pasado sábado en Sevilla.

Cristóbal Bernal recordó que el Taekwondo es un deporte muy distinto de los habituales, de carácter olímpico y

cuyos resultados son oficiales obteniéndose créditos válidos en cualquier parte del mundo. “Estos alumnos, desde los 5 años -según ha explicado el profesor- se forman aquí y pueden obtener becas a nivel estatal”. “Se trata de una disciplina no sólo física, sino que obtiene resultados positivos también a nivel mental”, reconoció. Además, hay algunos padres que se suman también con sus hijos para practicar el Taekwondo en el centro, lo que fomenta además la práctica del deporte en familia.

La mañana, que comenzó con un levante moderado que llegó a arreciar hasta los doce nudos, ha sido un espectáculo visual dada la congregación de barcos en torno a las playas de Sotogrande.

rio Gómez y Luciano Irazábal), en una épica final que tuvo que llegar al chukker suplementario tras un vibrante encuentro.

Finalmente, con un magnífico gol de oro de Mario Gómez, espectacular durante todo el partido, Midas se acabó llevando la victoria por 9 goles a 8 ante un muy combativo conjunto de Pura Tapa – Sotorental. El podio lo cerró Parrilla La Quinta – Cazenove, que superó a Ke Sotogrande – Doñana Maderas en al lucha por el tercer y cuarto puesto. En quinta posición finalizó Octógono – Silex, con Diletto Coffee – Chestertons, en última posición.

Fantásticas noticias las que está dando el deporte de contacto Kick Boxing, a nivel nacional, con dos luchadores que entrenan en la zona. Concretamente, Jezreel Mark Agsway logró firmar un importantísimo subcampeonato mundial en la cita internacional celebrada en Stuttgart (Alemania).

Durante el mismo campeonato

mundialista, Fernando Espinosa logró obtener la medalla de bronce. Ambos, en categoría amateur.

Y no son pocas las alegrías que estos dos luchadores del CD Contact Sport A Philips (situado en Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro), tienen que darle a nivel internacional a este deporte.

Los más pequeños, ‘Reyes del balón’ del II Torneo de Convivencia del CD Guadiaro 1 M. G. / Redacción

El CD Guadiaro celebró su II Torneo de Convivencia, que tuvo lugar en el Campo Municipal La Unión. Participaron equipos campogibraltareños y de fuera de la comarca de las categorías más pequeñas de fútbol base.

En la primera jornada, se desarrolló el torneo para las categorías Bebé y Prebenjamín. Obtuvieron trofeos todos los equipos, porque no se buscaba el carácter competitivo. Mientras que la segunda, se jugaron los partidos de

Benjamín y Alevín, que sí tuvieron semifinales y finales. Así, en Alevín el vencedor fue el Cortijillos, quedando segundo el Guadiaro. Y en Benjamín la victoria fue para el Guadiaro, seguido del Barbate.

Los equipos participantes fueron CD Guadiaro, Castellar, Atlético Zabal, Mirador, Barbate CF, Estepona CF, AD Cortijillos, Naranjito 82, Cádiz CF, Sant Joseph, Bajadilla B, UD San Pedro, CD San Bernardo y Balón Linense.

El equipo de Valle Romano gana el ProAm Costa del Golf Turismo en Alcaidesa Golf 1 M. Gil / Redacción

Alcaidesa Golf acogió la 18ª edición del ProAm Costa del Golf Turismo, un evento que nació para forjar relaciones entre los distintos campos de golf a través de la convivencia y la práctica de este deporte. En el torneo participaron equipos formados por los distintos clubes golfistas de la Costa del Sol. También cuenta con dos trofeos individuales: uno en el que participan periodistas especializados e invitados y un segundo exclusivamente de profesionales.

En cuanto a los ganadores, en la categoría por equipos, con la participación de 29 clubes de golf con 116 jugadores en total, fue el club Valle Romano, de Estepona,

el que se hizo con la victoria, con un total de 124 puntos. Como marca la tradición, será este club esteponero el que organice la decimonovena edición del Pro Am Costa del Golf Turismo.

En segundo lugar quedó Almenara Golf, de San Roque (Cádiz), con 129 puntos y hp. La tercera posición fue para el equipo formado por el club Añoreta, de Rincón de la Victoria, con 129 puntos.

En la categoría de periodistas e invitados, el ganador fue Miguel Navarro, perteneciente a la RFGA. El segundo y tercer puesto fueron para José Luis García Iglesias (La Revista de Sotogrande) y José Martínez (Motor Golf

y Viajes Madridiario).

Finalmente, en la categoría de profesionales, Gabriel Pérez Martín, perteneciente a Los Arqueros Golf, de Benahavís, se hizo con el trofeo y los mil euros que le corresponden por la victoria. Juan Quirós Segura obtuvo la segunda plaza y la tercera la ocuparon, en un empate, Francisco Natoli y Julio Fernández.

Estos trofeos son patrocinados por Golfspain.

Durante la celebración del Pro Am Costa del Golf Turismo se rindió homenaje a la figura de Andrés Moncayo, un referente en la construcción de la oferta golfística del destino, con casi medio siglo dedicado al deporte.

No es la primera vez que La Reserva de Sotogrande acoge este tipo de competiciones solidarias y todas ellas contaron con un enorme respaldo tanto de jugadores como de entidades y empresas colaboradoras con la causa, como también sucede en esta ocasión.

La Asociación Síndrome 22q Andalucía es una entidad sin ánimo de lucro que tiene como objetivos impulsar , fomentar y difundir cualquier contenido en beneficio del tratamiento de este síndrome. En concreto, como los fondos obtenidos con esta prueba, se tratará de celebrar diferentes congresos o simposios con profesionales del sector sanitario en el que promover a través de varias jornadas las pautas y protocolos especializados para su tratamiento.

La cantera del club de golf municipal La Cañada sigue sumando grandes promesas del golf a su lista. Lola García es buena prueba de ello. La joven se ha alzado con el título de Subcampeona de España de 2ª Categoría este pasado fin de semana en Tarragona (Lumine Golf).

La jugadora local demostró un excelente nivel de juego en una emocionante final en la que se enfrentó en Playoff a Ana Barbi, tras haber acabado empatadas con 158 golpes. Finalmente, Barbi resolvió a su favor y se hizo con el título, que por poco se le escapó de las manos a Lola García, que dejó claro durante todo el encuentro que tiene madera de campeona.

¿Sabías que el Polo Sur es mucho más frío que el Polo Norte?

En realidad el Polo Norte no es tan frío.

Si pensabas que el Polo Norte es un lugar extremadamente frío, deja contarte que en realidad no es así. De hecho el lugar más frío de la tierra se halla en el Polo Sur. Mientras que el Polo Norte ha registrado temperaturas de -70 grados centígrados, el Polo Sur ha registrado temperaturas de hasta -89,6 grados centígrados. Se registró el 21 de julio de 1983 en la estación rusa de Vostok, en la Antártida, a una altitud de 3.400 metros.

¿Por qué es más frío el polo Sur? Sencillo: El Polo Sur se encuentra sobre una gruesa capa de hielo que a su vez está sobre tierra firme, en el Polo Norte la gruesa capa de hielo está sobre el mar. El detalle es que el océano absorbe el calor así que sus temperaturas no bajan tanto, mientras que la tierra firme refleja los rayos del Sol y contribuye a que el Polo Sur sea más frío.

Otro factor es que cuando en el Polo Sur es invierno el Sol está más lejos que cuando en el Polo Norte es invierno.

El manzanillo de la muerte es el árbol más peligroso que existe para el ser humano.

En las playas de las islas del Caribe y América Central, existe un árbol muy similar al manzano que es extremadamente peligroso. Tanto que seguramente encontraremos cerca suyo carteles advirtiendo las fatales consecuencias.

“El manzanillo de arena” (Hippomane Mancinella), llamado generación tras generación “el árbol de la muerte”, está literalmente hasta las ramas de puro veneno. Tocarlo puede ocasionar quemaduras, comer su sugerente fruto en forma de manzana lleva a la intoxicación mortal. Pero eso no es todo.

Quemarlo produce humo tóxico. Cuando llueve se escurre por sus hojas un ácido similar al de la lluvia ácida. Hasta dormir debajo de él es peligroso por el polen que expele, que se magnifica en las horas de máxima temperatura. Todas las partes de la planta sueltan un látex blanquecino que incluso puede provocar ceguera al contactar con los ojos.

Worldwide, 20,000 brands of beer are brewed in 180 styles, from ales, lagers, pilsner and stouts to bitters, cream ales and iced beers.

Beer has been a popular beverage for a long time. Babylonian clay tablets show detailed recipes of beer making in 4300 BC. Beer was also brewed by the ancient Chinese, Assyrians and Incas.

An Egyptian text of 1600 BC gives 100 medical prescriptions using beer.

A few years ago, the New Castle Brewery in England brewed 1,000 bottles Tutankhamun Ale from a 3,200-year old recipe found in the sun temple of Queen Nefertiti.

Commercial beer making was established in 1200 AD in present-day Germany. In 1506, the German Purity Law is issued, specifying that beer ingredients must only be water, barley, wheat and hops. Bottling of beer started in 1605.

Ales usually are heavily hopped, and include bitters, brown ales, cream ales, mild ale, pale ale, India pale ale, barley wine and several other types. There are two types of the aboriginal ale still brewed in Europe. They are Belgian “lambic” and Finnish “sahti”, which is brewed from rye malt. They are brewed on wild yeast and spontaneous fermentation. Both have very distinct tastes.

The best taste usually is acquired at an alcohol contents of 4.7% ethanol per volume. Less than that results in a beer with a bland taste. More than that and the higher alcohols (butanol, pentanol etc) become overpowering and spoils the taste.
