La Navidad llega a Sotogrande La urbanización vive con intensidad estos días, animada por las diferentes propuestas y actividades que amenizan el periplo navideño por parte de las distintas entidades y comercios. La Marina de Sotogrande, perfectamente decorada para la ocasión, pista de patinaje incluida, se convierte en el punto central de la mayoría de los eventos. Las fiestas navideñas despiertan la participación de vecinos y residentes de la zona en las distintas citas propias de la época. Encuentros gastronómicos, zambombas, actividades infantiles, competiciones deportivas y mucho más marcan el programa festivo en Sotogrande.

Christmas arrives in Sotogrande The resort enjoys these days intensely, brought to life by the different attractions and activities that liven up Christmas, provided by different entities and businesses. Sotogrande Marina has been perfectly decorated for the occasion, including an ice rink, and has become the focal point for most events. The Christmas holidays awaken the participation of the area´s locals and residents in different events unique to this time of year. There are gastronomic events, zambomba (song, guitars and dance set to popular lyrics), children´s activities, sports competitions and lots more to mark the festive program in Sotogrande.

En las últimas semanas, multitud de informativos de televisión, páginas de periódico, radios, webs,…, han mostrado imágenes absolutamente impactantes sobre diferentes puntos de Andalucía, algunos de ellos a tan sólo unos kilómetros de Sotogrande, con los enormes consecuencias (en algunos casos abrumadoras) de las lluvias del pasado puente de diciembre. Infraestructuras insuficientemente preparadas, en su mayoría, para soportar las inclemencias meteorológicas a las que a veces tienen que exponerse. No pocas han sido las lamentaciones, en unos casos, y las promesas de una mejor inversión, en otros, que se han oído en las últimas semanas pero la cuestión es que en el momento clave, en el que debían estar, no estaban. Y es que situaciones como las vividas en Sa-

binillas, la Estación de San Roque, Palmones o Cortijillos, no deberían darse jamás y en la administración pública (local, autonómica, nacional) tiene que ser una máxima garantista en todas estas cuestiones. Unas infraestructuras seguras, sanidad y educación son las mínimas que se le exigen a esta democracia para una higiene necesaria que asegure el estado del bienestar. Lo demás, es secundario aunque a veces este detalle se terminar por olvidar. Sea citado, por otra parte, que hasta cierto punto el Valle del Gudiaro (algunas cuestiones materiales al margen) salió notablemente bien parado de esta puesta contra la pared de agua. Se han comportado visiblemente bien las medidas preventivas y han funcionado las secciones que tenían que hacerlo. Over the last few weeks, a large number of television news shows, newspaper pages, radio stations, websites… have shown striking images of diﬀerent areas in Andalusia, some of which are just a few kilometres from Sotogrande, with the enormous (and in some cases overwhelming) consequences of the rain during the last bank holiday in December. Mostly, these were of infrastructures that were inadequately prepared, to tolerate the inclement weather conditions that they are sometimes exposed to. A signiﬁcant number of lamentations, in some cases, and promises of better investment, in others, have been heard over the last few weeks but the question is that in the crucial moment, when the infrastructures should have been in place, they were not. The fact is that situations like those experienced in Sabinillas, Estación de

San Roque, Palmones and Cortijillos, should never take place and the public administration (local, regional, national) should be providing maximum guarantees for all these matters. Secure infrastructure, healthcare and education are the minimum requirements of a democracy in order to ensure necessary healthcare that assures the welfare state. The rest is of secondary importance, although this detail is sometimes forgotten. On the other hand, it should be noted, that to a certain level, Valle del Guadiaro (leaving aside some issues over materials) emerged reasonably well prepared against the wall of water. The preventive measures performed quite well and the sections that had to function did so. It is worth taking this moment to highlight the great eﬀort and extraordinary work of the emergency services over these

very diﬃcult days, which were very complicated with almost hundreds of calls each hour. Therefore, the best way to prevent these scares, which are naturally inevitable, is to invest in safety, as a means of planning ahead of what could one day take place and so that, if it does, it is does not result in unfortunate incidents, as the ﬁrst weekend in December threatened to do. The solution, when faced with such a situation, is always to have foresight. All of this marks the arrival of the year´s last edition of El Periódico de Sotogrande. Once again this year, we would like to thank you for your loyalty, and the best way to express this gratitude is through the commitment of Grupo HCP to continue to inform. Balance de un año muy peculiar, pero que apunta alto Entramos en la última edición del 2016 y lo hacemos con la satisfacción de cerrar un ciclo muy complejo pero que apunta muy alto. Atrás quedaron las vicisitudes de diez meses de inestabilidad de gobierno y el tan traído ‘Brexit’, ambas cuestiones muy relevantes para un futuro a corto plazo pero que van tomando su forma y sitio. 1 José Luis García Por un lado, en cuanto Editor/Director al equilibrio gubernajlgarcia@grupohcp.com mental y la proyección ascendente en materia económica con el que avanzó el ya casi extinto año, nos encontramos con los primeros compases de un gobierno en coalición, acorde a estos nuevos tiempos políticos de mayor diálogo y transigencia. Parecen quedar ya atrás las grandes mayorías, en cualquiera de los casos, mantener una política financiera aperturista y de apoyo a emprendedores y empresarios pasa por una de las grandes claves en este tiempo en el que la creación de empleo y la generación de riqueza sigue siendo el máximo objetivo. Aunque

visto lo visto, con no encontrar demasiadas trabas, ya se daría por satisfecho el tejido empresarial. En cuanto a la cuestión británica, con su salida de la Unión Europea, pues ya saben. En nuestra última edición repasamos concienzudamente las variables y posibles consecuencias del ‘Brexit’ en Sotogrande y Campo de Gibraltar. Igualmente, en el diálogo por lo mejor social y económicamente para todas las partes se encuentra el equilibrio perfecto. Seguiremos muy pendientes a esta cuestión en las próximas fechas. Desde un punto de vista más local, poniendo la lupa y la mirada en Sotogrande, vivimos un 2016 lleno de importantes anuncios y de proyectos importantes que previsiblemente verán la luz a lo largo del siguiente calendario. Prácticamente comenzamos el año con la noticia de la compra del Grupo Valderrama por parte de los vecinos de La Zagaleta. Una firma de garantías y con una personalidad completamente acorde a los valores de Sotogrande, en el que aterrizaron con importantes planes: un hotel de lujo, el segundo campo de golf de Valderrama y una exclusiva urbanización. Ingredientes de máxima factura para lo que se espera sea el siguiente paso para uno de los destinos residenciales más consagrados en Europa. Un paso más hacia el futuro que viene. Un Sotogrande del futuro en el que la empresa matriz [Sotogrande S.A.] tampoco ha querido quedarse atrás y ya dibuja con La Reserva de Sotogrande. Desde principios de año retomaron las obras de las infraestructuras de esta zona, en cuyo desarrollo se encuentra completamente inmerso del que ya avanzó algunos

detalles, como el proyecyo ‘The Seven’. Con esta expansión de la urbanización y la vida generada con contenido experiencial en La Marina de Sotogrande, sa visión de la que se hablaba hace un par de años comienza a integrarse en la zona. Como se espera también que el proyecto de desarrollo de Los Pinos, junto a Santa María Polo Club comience a tomar forma a lo largo de este próximo 2017. La implantación de un Distrito equino pasa por ser otro de los grandes pilares del Sotogrande del mañana. Citar también, por supuesto, la dulce despedida golfística de este 2016. El año se marcha con el anuncio de que Junta de Andalucía y Real Club Valderrama regresan de la mano por todo lo alto al European Tour con el Andalucía Valderrama Masters (19-22 de octubre). Un torneo que se pretende sea del más alto nivel en el mundo profesional y que espera entrar en el olimpo de las Rolex Series en un plazo de uno o dos años. Vuelve el mejor golf a Sotogrande y con éste el enorme impacto económico que ello supone para la zona (algunos estudios hablan de algo más de 50 millones de euro). ¡Bravo por esta apuesta! Entre tanto, eso y mucho más nos espera en 2017: polo, náutica, eventos, etc. Mientras llega, brinden y disfruten de las fiestas navideñas y reciban el año de la mejor manera. Nosotros seguiremos haciendo lo que mejor se nos da, llevar toda la información y ensalzar los valores de Sotogrande. Having seen what we have seen, given that there are not too many issues, the business community will be satisfied. As for the British matter, with their exit from the European Union, well you already know. In our last edition we offered a thorough review of the variables and possible consequences of Brexit in Sotogrande and Campo de Gibraltar. Likewise, in the dialogue for all the parties to improve socially and economically, things are perfectly balanced. We

will continue to closely follow this issue over the coming months. From a more local point of view, focusing our attention on Sotogrande, we experienced a 2016 filled with big announcements and important projects that are planned to go ahead next year. We practically began the year with news of the purchase of Grupo Valderrama by the residents of La Zagaleta. This is a firm with guarantees and a personality that is completely in keeping with the values of Sotogrande, that arrived with big plans for a luxury hotel, the second Valderrama golf course and an exclusive resort. These are top quality ingredients for what is expected to be the following step for one of Europe´s most renowned residential destinations. A step further towards the future that is coming. A Sotogrande of the future where the parent company (Sotogrande S.A) also did not want to get left behind and is already planning with La Reserva de Sotogrande. From the start of the year, they restarted infrastructural work in the area, and they are now completely immersed in its development, and have already disclosed some details, such as “The Seven” project. With this expansion of the resort and the life created with experience content in Sotogrande Marina, the vision of what was talked about a few years ago is

now beginning to take shape in the zone. It is also expected that the development project at Los Pinos, alongside Santa María Polo Club will begin to take shape in 2017. Ya es Navidad en Sotogrande

It is already Christmas in Sotogrande The switching on of the lights marked the oﬃcial start of Christmas in Sotogrande. Last Saturday, 10 December, Ribera del Marlin, in Sotogrande Marina, was absolutely packed full with people as the big party to celebrate the arrival of Christmas took place. During the entire day, young and old enjoyed a wide range of activities and attractions prepared for the occasion. It is worth highlighting, among others, the Christmas market at Sotogrande International School; the opening of the ice rink; the

musical performances of the SIS pupils, and the Christmas handicrafts workshop for children which took place in the Osvaldo Lobalzo Gallery. In the afternoon, the hundreds of residents and visitors gathered in the Marina shared a fun count down, before the 4,500 lights were switched on, one for each resident, on the big Christmas tree that will light up Sotogrande during the festive period. The company Florium Sotogrande was in charge of realizing the extraordinary decordado of La Marina.

El encendido de las luces marcó el comienzo oﬁcial de las navidades en Sotogrande. El pasado sábado, 10 de diciembre, la Ribera del Marlin, en el Puerto Deportivo de Sotogrande, colgó el cartel de completo con la celebración de la gran ﬁesta de bienvenida de la Navidad. Durante todo el día, pequeños y mayores disfrutaron de multitud de actividades y atracciones preparadas para la ocasión. En-

tre otras, destacó, por ejemplo, el mercadillo navideño del Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande; la apertura de la pista de patinaje sobre hielo; las actuaciones musicales de los alumnos del SIS, o el taller de manualidades navideñas para niños desarrollado en la Galería Osvaldo Lobalzo. Al caer la tarde, los cientos de residentes y visitantes congregados en La Marina compartieron una divertida cuenta atrás, que

sirvió para llevar a cabo el encendido de 4.500 luces, una por cada residencia, del gran árbol de Navidad que alumbrará Sotogrande estas navidades. La empresa Florium Sotogrande fue la encargada de hacer realidad el extraordinario decordado de La Marina.

Días para ser solidarios El proyecto sin ánimo de lucro The Kindred Project, dirigido por los estudiantes del Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande, está llevando a cabo una iniciativa de desarrollo con la ONG Hogar Betania, bautizada como Christmas Shoe Box Appeal. Su objetivo es apoyar a personas desfavorecidas a las que da los medios y las herramientas necesarias para que disfruten de una Navidad más alegre. Para ello, se han establecido varios puntos de recogida en Sotogrande a los que acudir para colaborar con alimentos durante esta Navidad.

Days to be charitable The not-for-proﬁt campaign The Kindred Project, led by the students of Sotogrande International School, is carrying out a development initiative with the NGO Hogar Betania, named the Christmas Shoe Box Appeal. The aim is to support disadvantaged people who are given the necessary resources and tools in order to enjoy a more joyful Christmas. To this end, several collection points have been set up in Sotogrande where you can go in order to leave oﬀ food donations over Christmas.

Lectores, amigos, colaboradores y clientes de Grupo HCP se dieron cita, en la terraza del Restaurante Don Diego de La Ribera del Marlin para brindar por la Navidad. De manos del nuevo local gastronómico de La Marina de Sotogrande, el nutrido grupo de asistentes pudo disfrutar, bajo un sol radiante propio de un

día de primavera, de un selecto cóctel de bocados gourmet como cebiche de lubina, tartar de atún, crema huancaina (típica peruana) o anticuchos de pollo, cerdo ibérico y ternera. No faltó, además, el tradicional jamón, famoso en cualquier evento organizado por Grupo HCP. Y, todo ello, regado con los mejores vinos seleccionados

para la ocasión por Vinopolis. Una jornada distendida para disfrutar de uno de los lugares más concurrentes de la Urbanización y brindar por la llegada de las ﬁestas navideñas.

Grupo HCP toasts to Christmas An event with readers and collaborators, held at Restaurante Don Diego and along with Vinopolis Sotogrande Readers, friends, collaborators and clients of Grupo HCP met, at the terrace of Restaurante Don Diego in La Ribera del Marlin in order to toast Christmas. In collaboration with the new gastronomic venue in Sotogrande Marina, the large group in attendance was

able to enjoy, under a radiant sun characteristic of a spring day, a select cocktail of gourmet bites such as bass ceviche, tuna tartare, Huancayo cream (typical Peruvian dish) and meat dishes of chicken, pork, Iberian meats and veal. The traditional ham, famous

at any event organized by Grupo HCP was of course there too. Everything was washed down with the best wines selected for the occasion by Vinopolis. This was a relaxed day for enjoying one of the busiest places in the Resort and toasting the arrival of the Christmas holidays.

 Con la colaboración especial de: El evento, organizado por Grupo HCP, contó con dos colaboradores muy especiales. Por un lado, el nuevo Restaurante Don Diego del grupo hostelero Moncayo, ubicado en La Marina de Sotogrande. Un nuevo punto gastronómico de referencia en la zona con especialidades en comidas asiáticas. Además, la cita estuvo regada por los extraordinarios productos que ofrece Vinopolis Sotogrande, todo un referente para los amantes del buen vino.

Como ya es conocido por todos los vecinos de Sotogrande, entre los días 4 y 5 de diciembre se produjeron unas lluvias de importante intensidad, las cuales han provocado algunas incidencias e inundaciones puntuales en la urbanización. Dichas lluvias supusieron un total de 225 litros el domingo y

125 litros por metro cuadrado el lunes. Estas intensidades excepcionales hicieron mantener retenes de jardineros y mantenimiento en la urbanización en esos y posteriores días. Los trabajos de estos retenes consistieron fundamentalmente en paliar los efectos de estas precipitaciones de modo in-

mediato. Durante los días posteriores se han mantenido labores centradas en la retirada de arbolado derribado y en la limpieza de las calles mediante medios manuales y mecánicos, haciendo que la urbanización recuperara lo antes posible su normalidad.

Red de Carreteras estudia mejoras en las vías de acceso a Torreguadiaro 1 M. Gil

El teniente de alcalde de Urbanismo, Juan Manuel Ordóñez, mantuvo un encuentro con los técnicos y responsables de la Demarcación de Carreteras en la Subdelegación de Gobierno en Sevilla, en el que se trató el arreglo de dos accesos de la A-7 a su paso por Torreguadiaro, a solicitud del Consistorio. Según Ordóñez, muchos de los asuntos tenían que ver con expedientes e informes que necesitan de Carreteras “para poder darle un impulso a uno de los principales asuntos que llevamos varios años tratando, que es el arreglo de los puntos kilométricos 133 y 134 de la A-7”. Se trata, según el edil de las vías de acceso en Torreguadiaro que da a la Cancha de polo de Los Pinos, y a la gasolinera de Cepsa. El responsable de Urbanismo apuntó que “se trata de una situación que tenemos que arreglar debido al gran deterioro que presentan estos accesos,

que llevamos mucho tiempo sin poder ejecutar, y que están en vías de ejecución a través de un convenio firmado en su día con Cepsa”. “Durante la jornada se analizaron posibilidades del nuevo proyecto que se ha presentado para que la Demarcación de Carreteras viera su viabilidad y así poderlo tramitarlo

a Madrid”. Según el edil, los técnicos han comprobado que el proyecto planteado por la Delegación de Urbanismo es viable, “por tanto, esperemos que pronto se puedan ejecutar estas obras en dichas vías, y que así los ciudadanos puedan tener un mejor acceso tanto hacia los Pinos como a la gasolinera Cepsa”, finalizó.

El año 2016 ha sido atípico, entre otras razones porque los economistas hemos compartido nuestra notoria incapacidad para predecir el futuro con otro grupo de profesionales: los que se dedican a hacer encuestas. El mundo político, en efecto, nos brindó sorpresas mayúsculas, como la victoria del “no” en el referéndum del Brexit, y la de Donald Trump en las elecciones en Estados Unidos. Pero hubo otras sorpresas, que revelan que los ciudadanos no siempre hacen lo que se espera de ellos, y tampoco secundan los criterios de sus gobernantes, como sucedió en Colombia con la consulta popular sobre el acuerdo de paz con las FARC. En política, lo extraño de 2016 no fue el triunfo de los populistas, sino su llegada imprevista allí adonde no se les esperaba, pero recordemos que en países como la Ar-

gentina y Venezuela el populismo cosechó derrotas significativas. En economía, como ya hemos apuntado en este rincón de El Periódico de Sotogrande, la clave del año fue que los pronósticos lúgubres no se cumplieron: la economía mundial continuó con buena marcha, la europea también, y la española con un ritmo superior al de los demás grandes países de la eurozona. La reactivación del sector inmobiliario, por poner el ejemplo de la actividad más castigada durante la crisis, es visible en todo el país, y se ha notado también en Sotogrande. En 2017, donde habrá además elecciones en países importantes, como Alemania y Francia, vamos a enfrentarnos con los resultados de la política económica en Europa, Estados Unidos y Extremo Oriente. Mientras que no se espera una recaída apreciable

en la actividad, los europeos seguimos con problemas financieros, los más recientes en Italia, que también registró un nuevo terremoto político, y la incógnita de cómo abordarán los británicos su salida de la Unión. En el caso concreto de España, tendremos subidas de impuestos, que posiblemente no frenen del todo la recuperación, aunque no la ayudarán. En Estados Unidos, creo que los elementos negativos del programa de Trump se verán compensados por los positivos, como la rebaja de impuestos a las empresas. Y en Oriente hay señales inquietantes en China, mientras que Japón continúa estancado. En Sotogrande, los más viejos del lugar no recordaban una tromba de agua como la que cayó en el Campo de Gibraltar en diciembre. Los pesimistas dirán que el temporal de 2016 anuncia tormentas en 2017.

The economy to come 2016 has been atypical, among other reasons because we economists have shared our notorious inability to predict the future with another group of professionals: pollsters. The political world gave us a series of major surprises, such as a victory for the ‘leave’ vote in the Brexit referendum, and Donald Trump’s victory in the US Elections. But there were other surprises, which reveal that citizens do not always do what is expected of them, or support the criteria of their rulers, as happened in Colombia with the referendum on the peace agreement with FARC. In politics, what was strange about 2016 was not the triumph of populists, but that they came where they were not expected. Let us remember that in countries such as Argentina and Venezuela populism harvested significant defeats.

As for the economy, as we have pointed out in this corner of El Periódico de Sotogrande, the key to this year was that the gloomy forecasts did not come true: the global economy continued at a good pace, as did the European economy, and the Spanish, at a higher rate than the other major countries of the eurozone. The revitalisation of the real estate sector, to use as an example the sector most affected by the crisis, is visible throughout the country, and has also been noted in Sotogrande. In 2017, where there will also be elections in major countries such as Germany and France, we will be dealing with the results of economic policies in Europe, the United States and the Far East. While no one is expecting a significant relapse in activity, we Europeans will con-

tinue with financial problems, the most recent in Italy, who also experience a new political earthquake, and the question of how to address the British withdrawal from the European Union. As for Spain specifically, we will see tax increases, which while they may not stall the recovery completely, will certainly not help. In the US, I believe the negative elements of Trump’s policies will be offset by the positive, such as lower taxes on companies. And looking to the East there are worrying signs in China, while Japan remains stagnant. In Sotogrande, even the very oldest residents will not recall a barrage of water of the same degree that fell on Campo de Gibraltar in December. Pessimists will say that the bad weather of 2016 heralds storms in 2017.

Se inauguró el curso de Operador de Carretillas Elevadoras Tipo 2, impartido por la Fundación Laboral de la Construcción, patrocinado por Sotogrande S.A. El curso durará un total de 13 horas y media (2 días), el primer día de formación teórica, impartida en la sede de UGT de San Roque, y el segundo día de formación práctica, donde el alumnado manejará la carretilla elevadora de tipo 2, está ultima fase, se impartirá en la nave cedida por Emadesa.

La carretera de Las Arenillas, una cuestión que empeora por años Una de las principales vías de comunicación (A-2100), para muchos de los trabajadores que cada día se desplazan entre Sotogrande, Jimena y Castellar, continúa con un preocupante estado de dejadez y sin perspectivas de ser remodelada 1 Manuel Gil

La carretera A-2100, conocida de Las Arenillas, es una de las principales vías transitadas diariamente en la zona. Supone el principal punto de conexión entre Sotogrande y Castellar (además de un acceso natural hacia Jimena y otros puntos de la Comarca), es frecuentada por los muchos trabajadores que se desplazan entre ambos núcleos de población de manera habitual. Es preocupante estado de dejadez y deterioro que sufre la calzada, con pronunciadas zonas bacheadas, agrietadas y con deficitarios arcenes y vías de escapatoria. Caso parecido al que sufre también el carril bici que acompaña a la vía entre estos

dos municipios (pese a que se efectuaron varios trabajos por parte de la Consejería de Fomento de la Junta de Andalucía el pasado invierno). Si desde Sotogrande, el estado de la carretera desde el Centro Comercial Mar y Sol hasta la rotonda del Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande su estado es bueno, los siguientes y kilómetros y de manera especial al alcanzar el Término Municipal de Castellar, la vía se deteriora considerablemente. Esta carretera discurre por 15 kilómetros de montaña en los que en la actualidad son considerables los desniveles y socavones. Precisamente, hace ya un año que Juan Casanova,

alcalde de la vecina localidad de Castellar, demandó a la delegada territorial de Fomento y Vivienda, la exalcaldesa de La Línea Gemma Araujo, una reunión para bordar la necesidad de mejorar las condiciones de esta carretera. “La vía es tránsito habitual de numerosos vecinos y vecinas de este municipio que trabajan en la costa, Sotogrande y otros puntos de dicha zona; son muchas las demandas que he recibido de manera reiterada por parte de vecinos afectados reclamando que se actúe sobre la carretera de Las Arenillas”,

1 Delegación Fomento Junta de Andalucía La Junta de Andalucía ha desarrollado este año los trabajos de desbroce y adecentamiento del carril bici de la A-2100, también conocida como la carretera de Arenillas, que une Castellar de la Frontera con Sotogrande. Asimismo están previstas desde esta Consejería obras de emergencia –por valor aproximado de 80.000 euros- para mejorar el estado de esta carretera, que ha sufrido las consecuencias de las últimas inundaciones. Este tipo de actuaciones de mantenimiento y conservación (desbroce, limpieza y reparación de grietas…), según indica la delegada territorial de Fomento y Vivienda de la Junta de Andalucía, Gemma Araujo, “van dirigidas a garantizar la seguridad y optimizar la movilidad en las carreteras de nuestra provincia, en especial en vías como ésta, en una zona muy transitada a diario”. La Delegación Territorial, según explicó, “se mantiene atenta a las necesidades de los ciudadanos respecto a las condiciones de esta vía y de otras en la provincia de cara a futuras actuaciones, en su interés por ofrecer las mejores condiciones de seguridad y movilidad en las carreteras de competencia autonómica”.

aseguraba aunque pocos cambios se han efectuado desde entonces. Recordar que en 2010 se tuvo que acometer, por parte de la Junta de Andalucía, varias actuaciones después de que se viera gravemente afectada por las lluvias registradas en el mes de febrero del mismo año. En aquel momento derivó el cierre de la vía durante el periodo de realización de los trabajos (unos dos meses aproximadamente), debido a la apertura de un enorme socavón de varios metros de profundidad que destruyó la calzada

de arcén a arcén en un tramo. Entonces, se procedió a la realización de un nuevo drenaje, restitución del firme y del carril bici (en concreto en los puntos kilométricos 9,5 y 10,1). Dicha actuación supuso un desembolso de más de 340.000 euros por parte de la Junta de Andalucía. Lo saludable, por parte de la administración pertinente, sería no tener que llegar a estos extremos realizar una labor preventiva sobre el terreno y evitar así mayores consecuencias cuando aún se puede actuar con antelación a cualquier acontecimiento desafortunado.

Las Arenillas road, a matter that gets worse over time One of the main communication roads (A-2100), for many of the workers that travel between Sotogrande, Jimena and Castellar, continues in a worrying state of neglect and without any prospects of being revamped

The A-2100 road, known as Las Arenillas, is one of the main roads used on a daily basis in the area. It is the main connection point between Sotogrande and Castellar (as well as a natural access point towards Jimena and other areas of the Province), it is used by the many works that move between both towns on a regular basis. The state of neglect and deterioration suffered by the road surface is a concern, with pot holes, cracked areas and deficient hard shoulders and escape routes. There is similar situation with the bicycle path that runs alongside the road between these two municipalities (despite the fact that several procedures were carried out by the Department of Development of the Regional Council of Andalusia last winter). While heading from Sotogrande, the state of the road from the Mar y Sol Shopping Centre up until the roundabout of Sotogrande International School is good, however over the following kilometres, especially upon reaching the Municipality of Castellar, the road deteriorates considerably. This road runs along 15 kilometres of mountain where there is currently significant unevenness and holes. In fact, a year ago, Juan Casanova, the mayor in the neighbouring town of Castellana, requested a meeting with the territorial delegate for Development and Housing, the ex-mayor of La Línea, Gemma Araujo, in order to look at the

need to improve conditions on this road. “The road is used regularly by several residents in this municipality that work on the coast, Sotogrande and other points in that area; there have been many repeated requests from affected residents calling for action on the Las Arenillas road” he stated, although there have been few changes since then. It is worth remembering that in 2010 the Regional Council of Andalusia had to carry out several procedures after it was seriously affected by rain recorded in February of the same year. That period resulted in the closure of the road during the time that the work was carried out (approximately two mon-

ths), due to the opening of an enormous hole that was several metres deep that destroyer the road surdace from hard shoulder to hard shoulder on one stretch. Then, new drainage was put in place, and the road surface and the bicycle lane were replaced (specifically kilometre points 9.5 and 10.1). This work resulted in expenditure of more than 340,000 Euros by the Regional Council of Andalusia. The correct option, from the relevant administration, would be not to have to go to such extremes, and to carry out preventive work on the area and thus avoid furthers problems when it is still possible to act in advance of any unfortunate incidents.

1 The Regional Council of Andalusia This year the Regional Council of Andalusia has carried out clearing and renovation work on the A-2100 bicycle path, also known as Arenillas road, which links Castellar de la Frontera with Sotogrande. Likewise, this Department is planning emergency work –valued at approximately 80,000 euros- in order to improve the state of this road, which has suffered the consequences of the latest flooding. This type of maintenance and preservation work (clearing, cleaning and repair of cracks…), as outlined by the regional delegate for the Council of Andalusia´s Development and Housing Delegate, Gemma Araujo, “is aimed at guaranteeing safety and optimising mobility on the roads in our province, especially, on roads like this one, in an area that is heavily used on a daily basis”. She explained that the Territorial Delegation, “is remaining attentive to the needs of citizens in relation to the conditions of this road and others in the province ahead of future work, in its interest to offer the best safety and mobility conditions on the roads that fall under its regional responsibility”.

La ventana de opinión ¿Qué consecuencias deja el fuerte temporal y las inundaciones en la zona? El Ayuntamiento valoró en casi 11 millones de euros los daños sufridos en el término municipal durante el reciente temporal de lluvias, de los que 9.250.000 se reﬁeren a infraestructuras públicas. Se trata de una primera valoración, que fue remitida en la tarde del pasado miércoles a la Subdelegación del Gobierno Central en Cádiz. Los perjuicios más costosos se sufrieron en las barriadas de la Estación y Puente Mayorga, así como en San Roque Casco. En lo que se reﬁere a infraestructuras públicas, los desperfectos más costosos se ha producido

en el encauzamiento del Arroyo de los Gallegos (Puente Mayorga), con daños valorados en tres millones y medio de euros. Otros cauces resultaron afectados, como el Arroyo de la Madrevieja (Casco), el Cachón de Jimena (Puente-Campamento), el Arroyo Micaela (San Enrique) y El Muerto (Torreguadiaro), por un importe total de casi 600.000 euros, a los que hay que añadir otros 250.000 euros en daños estimados en el cauce del río Guadarranque a su paso por la Estación. Los desperfectos en las playas también han sido cuantio-

sos, como los 400.000 euros valorados en la de Guadarranque o los 350.000 en Torreguadiaro-Sotogrande. Las instalaciones deportivas han sufrido daños valorados en poco menos de 700.000 euros, principalmente en Guadiaro y la Estación. En cuanto a los centros educativos, los desperfectos se sitúan en alrededor de 550.000 euros, destacando los problemas ocasionados en el colegio y la guardería de la Estación, aunque también hubo daños en San Roque Casco, Taraguilla, San Enrique y Guadiaro.

The Town Council has estimated that the municipality suffered 11 million euros worth of damage during the recent rain storms, of which 9,250,000 relate to public infrastructure. This is an initial valuation, submitted last Wednesday evening to the Subdelegation of the Central Government in Cadiz. The most costly damages were suﬀered in the districts of La Estación and Puente Mayorga, as well as San Roque Casco. With regards to public infrastructure, the most expensive damage occurred in the channelling of the Arroyo de los Gallegos (Puente Mayorga), with damage estimated at three and a half million euros. Other riverbeds were aﬀected, including the Arroyo de la Madrevieja (Casco), the Cachón Jimena

(Puente-Campamento), the Arroyo Micaela (San Enrique) and El Muerto (Torreguadiaro), at a total cost of nearly 600,000 euros, to which another 250,000 euros in estimated damage must be added, for the course of the Guadarranque river as it runs through La Estación. Damage to the beaches has also been substantial, valued at 400,000 euros in Guadarranque and 350,000 at Torreguadiaro-Sotogrande. Sporting facilities have suﬀered damage valued at just under 700,000 euros, mainly in Guadiaro and La Estación. As for schools, damage is estimated at around 550,000 euros, with particular problems at the school and nursery in La Estación, though there was also damage in San Roque Casco, Taraguilla, San Enrique and Guadiaro.

La solidaridad salva a casi 300 perros de morir ahogados Sotogrande se vuelca en las labores de desalojo de la perrera de Los Barrios 1 Mayte Solán

El dicho “a perro flaco todo son pulgas” se hizo realidad el pasado 5 de diciembre, cuando las fuertes lluvias caídas en la Comarca afectaron gravemente a la perrera de Los Barrios. La crecida del río Palmones inundó las instalaciones, poniendo en situación de peligro a los cerca de trescientos animales que vivían en ella. La virulencia de las lluvias hizo imposible evitar que el nivel del agua subiera rápidamente y alcanzase a los animales, augurando el peor de los desenlaces. Desolados, los voluntarios del centro lanzaron un grito al aire, reclamando ayuda y colaboración a los vecinos de la Comarca para salvar a sus indefensos amigos de cuatro patas. El mensaje corrió como la pólvora por las redes sociales, los grupos de WhatsApp y los medios de comunicación. Y se hizo el milagro. Familias enteras, muchas de ellas de Sotogrande, acudieron al rescate de los animales, viviéndose escenas de tanta nobleza, que

difícilmente serán olvidadas por sus protagonistas. Todos a una, haciendo de la solidaridad una bandera cuyo único fin era dar una oportunidad a quienes lo tenían todo perdido. “Fueron momentos muy duros, pero mereció realmente la pena. De Sotogrande acudimos muchas familias, niños del Colegio Internacional, madres, amigos... Ver a tanta gente unida para ayudar a esos pobres animales fue algo precioso”, asegura Tatiana Muñoz. Gracias a la colaboración de todos, los casi trescientos perros fueron trasladados a la plaza de toros de Los Barrios. Una vez a salvo los peludos, el broche de oro a un acto de solidaridad sin precedentes en la zona fue la acogida de todos los animales. Multitud de hogares (muchos de ellos de Sotogrande) abrieron sus puertas a los canes desalojados para darles todo su cariño mientras pasaba la tempestad. A todo ello no hay que olvidar sumar los numerosos donativos

realizados por multitud de amantes de los animales. Aportaciones económicas, comida, mantas, camas para los perros, comederos y todo los necesario para dar una segunda oportunidad a quienes parecían tener todo perdido. Un acto ejemplar que, desde SOS Perrera Los Barrios agradecen a cuantos lo llevaron a cabo. “No tenemos palabras para agradecer la gran labor de cientos de voluntarios, la empresa Villalobos, que nos ha cedido sus instalaciones, Bomberos, Policía local, Protección Civil, trabajadores del Ayuntamiento de Los Barrios, empresas con grandes vehículos y, sobre todo, particulares con sus coches. Una labor increíble que demuestra la gran solidaridad en casos extremos como este”, publicaban en su perfil de Facebook el pasado 5 de diciembre. Una jornada para olvidar, por la gravedad de los hechos, pero para recordar, siempre, por ser el día en que el que quedó claro que, para muchos, el perro sí es el mejor amigo del hombre.

Act of charity saves almost 300 dogs from drowning Sotogrande rushes to evacuate Los Barrios animal shelter The saying “it never rains but it pours” came true on 5 December, when the heavy rains in the region seriously affected Los Barrios animal shelter. The rising waters of the Palmones river flooded the facilities, endangering the nearly three hundred animals living there. The unrelenting rains meant there was no way of preventing the water level from rising rapidly and reaching the animals, heralding a terrible outcome. Desperate, volunteers working at the centre put out a cry for help, asking for residents of the region to help to save their defenceless four-legged friends.

The message spread like wildfire on social networks, WhatsApp groups, and the media. And a miracle happened. Whole families, many of them from Sotogrande, came to the animals’ rescue, in scenes of generosity that those present would find difficult to forget. Pulling together, they acted with a sole purpose, to give an opportunity to those who had lost everything. “They were very tough times, but it was really worth it. We had many familiesf from Sotogrande, kids from the International School, mothers, friends... Seeing so many people unite to help this poor animals was something very beauti-

ful,” says Tatiana Muñoz. Thanks to everyone’s help, the nearly three hundred dogs were transferred to the Los Barrios bullring. Once the furry friends had been saved, the final touch of this unprecedented act of local charity was the welcome all the animals received. Countless homes (many of them in Sotogrande) opened their doors to the evacuated dogs, to take care of them while the storm continued. Not to be forgotten are the numerous donations made by countless animal lovers. Cash donations, food, blankets, dog beds, dog bowls, and everything else required

to give a second chance to those who seemed to have lost it all. An exemplary act of charity, for which SOS Los Barrios Animal Shelter thanks all those who took part. “We don’t have the words to thank the hundreds of volunteers, the company Villalobos, who gave their facilities, the firefighters, local police, civil defence, employees from Los Barrios Town Council, businesses with large vehicles and,

in particular, individuals with their cars. It was an incredible task, that showed the incredible solidarity that can be shown in extreme cases like this,” they posted on their Facebook page on 5 December. A day some may wish to forget, due to the gravity of what happened, but one that should always be remembered, for being a day where it became clear to many that a dog truly is man’s best friend.

La 37ª Feria Internacional de Turismo, Fitur 2017, que organiza Ifema del 18 al 22 de enero próximos, en Feria de Madrid, desplegará un amplio programa de actividades, jornadas y foros, en los que reconocidos profesionales y expertos internacionales tratarán las principales preocupaciones y tendencias del turismo nacional e internacional. De nuevo, un año más, estarán presentes Grupo HCP y El Periódico de Sotogrande de manera notable y especial con sus publicaciones. La teniente de alcalde delegada de Turismo, Dolores Marchena, perfiló varios detalles de la representación del Campo de Gibraltar en la próxima edición de la Feria Internacio-

nal de Turismo de Madrid, Fitur 2017. San Roque volverá a estar presente un año más en dicha cita turística, en la que presentará su propuesta propia aunque compartiendo espacio con el resto de la comarca. Con el objetivo de ir cerrando los preparativos del stand del Campo de Gibraltar, se acordó entre los distintos municipios de la comarca asuntos relativos a la agenda, actos y productos que se van a presentar en la feria. La feria turística madrileña se celebrará entre el 18 al 22 de enero, y San Roque volverá a estar presente en Fitur a coste cero para las arcas municipales, gracias a la colaboración de los agentes

turísticos locales. San Roque promocionará en Fitur el golf, sus tapas y sus monumentos, además de sus playas, turismo verde, deportes náuticos, polo, turismo residencial y la Semana Santa. La edil indicó que con la presencia de San Roque en Fitur se quiere difundir la gran cantidad de posibilidades turísticas que atesora el municipio, y sobre todo atraer el mayor número posible de visitantes. San Roque estará en Madrid de la mano de la Diputación de Cádiz en el Pabellón de Turismo Andaluz y lo hará en el stand del Campo de Gibraltar como destino conjunto pero con identidad propia.

Intenso programa de actividades, para las fiestas navideñas Más de 70 actividades en todos los núcleos de población están previstos celebrar estas fiestas de Navidad y Reyes. Carteros reales, concursos, Belén Viviente, fiestas infantiles, etc. La programación navideña del municipio de San Roque finalizará el martes 5 de enero con los arrastres de latas por la mañana y con la Gran Cabalgata de Reyes por la tarde-noche. Una densa agenda que está siendo completada por las comisiones de fiestas de las barriadas con la colaboración de distintos colectivos sociales. Además de la celebración del III Belén Viviente, Fiestas resaltó la recogida de cartas llenas de ilusión que llevará a cabo el Cartero Real en todos los colegios y guarderías del municipio entre los días 19 y 22 de diciembre, y también citó la tradicional Gran Fiesta Infantil de Reyes Magos que tendrá lugar el lunes 4 en el Pabellón Ciudad de San Roque. En cuanto a la jornada grande de estas fiestas, la del jueves 5 de enero, comenzará con arrastres de latas en gran parte de las barriadas del municipio. Además, a las 11.00 horas se llevará a cabo la tradicional Recepción de los Reyes Magos en el Ayuntamiento, para desplazarse a continuación a la Residencia Municipal de Mayores, siendo en la Residencia de la Milagrosa (San Enrique) a las 16.30 horas. Desde las 17.00 horas de ese día habrá recepciones de Reyes Magos en todos los núcleos de población, y todos los niños y niñas que acudan podrán recibir su correspondiente regalito. A las 19.00 horas comenzará la Gran Cabalgata de Reyes.

The councillor indicated that with the presence of San Roque at Fitur the aim is to expand the large amount of tourism possibilities on offer in the municipality, and above all, to attract the largest possible number of visitors. San Roque will be in Madrid along with the Regional Council of Cádiz at the Pavilion of Andalusian Tourism and it will do so at the Campo de Gibraltar stand as a joint destination with its own identity.

More than 70 activities in all the population centres have been planned to celebrate Christmas and the Three Kings. There will be Royal Postmen, competitions, a living Nativity Scene, parties for children, etc. The Christmas programming in the municipality of San Roque will conclude on 5 January with the pulling of the cans parade in the morning and the Grand Three Kings procession in the afternoon-evening. This is a packed schedule that is being completed by the neighbourhood fiesta commissions in collaboration with different social groups. There is also the celebration of the 3rd Live Nativity Scene. The fiestas commission has highlighted the collection of cards filled with hopes that will be carried out by the Royal Postman at all the schools and nurseries in the municipality between 19 and 22 December, and it also mentioned the traditional big Three Kings Children´s Party which will take place on Monday 4th in the San Roque City Pavilion. As for the big day of these holidays, Thursday 5 January, it will begin with the can pulling procession in a large number of the municipality´s neighbourhoods. Also, at 11am, the traditional Reception of the Three Kings will be held at the Town Hall, before they then head to the Municipal Residence of Elderly People, and they will be at the La Milagrosa Residence Home (San Enrique) at 4.30pm. From 5pm on, there will be receptions for the Three Kings in all the population centres and all the children can receive their little gift. At 7pm, the big Three Kings Procession will get underway.

Manuel Gavilán contará con una calle en Pueblo Nuevo 1 M. Gil

El Pleno de la Corporación de San Roque aprobó por unanimidad de todos los grupos representados la proposición para la denominación de una calle en Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro (actualmente la calle Blanca), en honor a Manuel Gavilán Oncala, recientemente fallecido y uno de los personajes más queridos e ilustres de la comunidad. La cita protocolaria se celebrará, previsiblemente, en el próximo mes de febrero. Después de trasladar toda la Corporación su pesar por el fallecimiento a la familia se determinó que fuese ésta

quién decidiese la nueva denominación de la calle de manera exacta. Manuel Gavilán, uno de los personajes más queridos en el Valle del Guadiaro, fue ya condecorado con una Mención en el Pleno de Honores y Distinciones del año 2007 , con motivo del 301 aniversario de la Ciudad de San Roque, y según el propio Consistorio planeaba otro reconocimiento a corto plazo. La calle que se denominará con su nombre, actualmente c/Blanca, es precisamente el lugar en el que se encuentra la entrada a su negocio: Fontanería

Gavilán. Como resto de puntos a destacar durante el plenario, la aprobación, si procede, del Plan Económico y Financiero del Ayuntamiento de San Roque 2016-17. La prorrogación del contrato suscrito con la empresa de transporte urbano, la creación de la Comisión de Seguimiento de Club de Golf La Cañada y varias mociones relaciones con la mejora de viarios y el abandono de animales de compañía, además de otros puntos de perfil económico como la trasferencia de crédito o el convenio con la Diputación de Cádiz.

Manuel Gavilán to have street in Pueblo Nuevo The Plenary Session of the Board of San Roque unanimously approved, by all groups represented, the proposal to name a street in Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro (currently Calle Blanca), in honour of Manuel Gavilán Oncala, recently deceased and one of the most beloved and distinguished members of the community. The formal naming will tentatively be held next February. After the Board conveyed their sorrow at his death to his family, it was decided that they should be the ones to determine the exact name of the street. Manuel Gavilán, one of the most beloved figures of Valle del Guadiaro, was decorated with a Honourable Mention in the Honours and Distinctions Plenary in 2007, as part of the 301st anniversary of the city of

San Roque, and according to the Town Council another recognition was planned for the near future. The street which will bear his name, currently Calle Blanca, is the place where the entrance to his business was located: Fontanería Gavilán. Other notable points of the meeting included the approval, as needed, of the Economic and Financial Plan for the municipality of San Roque 2016-17. The extension of the contract signed with the urban transport company, the creation of the follow-up Commission for the La Cañada Golf Club, and several motions related to the improvement of roads and the abandonment of companion animals, as well as other financial points such as credit transfers and the agreement with Cádiz Council.

Obras y Servicios construye un acceso adaptado en Pueblo Nuevo ✑ M. Gil

Obras y Servicios ejecutó la construcción de una escalera y una rampa en Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro. Se trata de una rampa para el acceso de minusválidos en la zona comercial de Pueblo Nuevo del Guadiaro. Según explicó el tte de alcalde de Obras y Servicios, José Antonio Rojas, “se trataba de un punto ciego, y con la obra que hemos realizado mejoramos el acceso en esta zona comercial y de aparcamiento”.

El edil espera que “lo ciudadanos sepan apreciar el esfuerzo que estamos realizando desde el Ayuntamiento, y seguimos estando atentos a aquellas colaboraciones que nos demanden los ciudadanos para mejorar nuestras calles”.

Por un lado, de la mano del CD Guadiaro, se celebró el evento ‘Ningún niño sin juguete’. una campaña, con el fútbol de fondo, para recoger juguetes y que ayudará a que muchas familias estas navidades que atraviesan una delicada situación económica. Por otro, en el Pabellón de Pueblo Nuevo, se celebró un fiesta infantil navideña con atracciones y diversión para los más pequeños. Además, por las calles de La Marina de Sotogrande, se pudo ver a muchos ‘Papa Noeles’ disfrutando de la carrera solidaria que ya cumple su segunda edición en Sotogrande. En definitiva, un pequeño aperitivo de lo que se acontecerá durante todo el periplo festivo tanto en la Urbanización como en el resto de puntos del Valle del Guadiaro.

Educación Colegio Internacional Sotogrande Un mes mágico en el SIS 1 Redacción

Diciembre siempre es un mes mágico y emocionante en el Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande y un momento muy esperado por el departamento de artes expresivas. En Fundamentals, nuestros alumnos más pequeños (de 4 meses a 3 años), realizaron talleres navideños con sus padres en un ambiente festivo. Entre las diferentes actividades organizadas por Fundamentals, visitaron SIS para descubrir nuevos juegos y amigos en un ambiente fantástico de Navidad, con divertidos juegos y bailes que los alumnos de primaria de 7 y 8 años les habían preparado. Gracias a una enor-

me cantidad de oportunidades de actuar, los coros de primaria y secundaria se encargan de hacer que la gente sonría y de que la alegría festiva se extienda por toda la costa. Además han tenido el gran honor de cantar alrededor del árbol de navidad mientras se encendían las luces del puerto deportivo de Sotogrande. Las mágicas actuaciones teatrales de los alumnos de 3 a 6 años siempre consiguen entretener e impresionar. Al celebrar distintas culturas y creencias, nos inspiran con sus bailes, cantos y habilidades escénicas que alegran y divierten a todos. Los estudiantes de artes in-

terpretativas de M4 a D2 también demuestran sus habilidades en el Festival Teatral del SIS. A Magical Month at SIS December is always a magical and exciting month at Sotogrande International School, and a time that is embraced by our expressive arts department. At Fundamentals our very youngest student’s (4months to 3 years) parents are welcomed to come and join in the Christmas festivities. While from SIS Primary, our 7/8 year olds spend a cheerful and fun morning facilitating a wide range of Christmas activates for Fundamentals classes.

With plenty of opportunities to perform, our Primary and Secondary choirs are busy bringing smiles and spreading festive cheer all along the coast, including having the great honour of singing round the Christmas Tree while the lights were turned on at Sotogrande Marina. The magical festive theatre performances from our 3 – 6 year olds never fail to entertain and impress. Celebrating different cultures and beliefs they inspire us with their dancing, singing

and performing skills bringing happiness and laughter to all. Performing Arts students from M4 to D2 also showcase their skills at the SIS Theatre Festival. Providing an opportunity to experiment with style and technique while building confidence, developing talents and facilitating self-discovery. CEIP Gloria Fuertes Exposición ‘La Escritura’ Con el objetivo de acercar los libros a los alumnos/as y animarles a la lectura, este curso el equipo de biblioteca del CEIP Gloria Fuertes realiza una actividad temática trimestral. Hemos comenzado organizando una exposición interactiva dedicada a la “Escritura”. Los asistentes pueden disfrutar de un acercamiento al mundo de la escritura y su evolución. Se desarrolla en cinco mesas en las que podemos investigar y descubrir a través de los libros. Comenzamos adentrándonos en la historia de la escritura desde la pintura rupestre al latín, pasando por el código

ugarítico y la escritura cuneiforme. En la segunda mesa tratamos el descubrimiento de la imprenta. Continuamos con el arte en la escritura: los caligramas y seguimos con otros idiomas: leguaje de signos, jeroglíficos, japonés y todos los idiomas representados en nuestro centro con las distintas nacionalidades. Para finalizar, la visita a la exposición nos encontramos con una experiencia práctica; escribiremos con plumas de ave y tinta al igual que los antiguos escribas, utilizando el pincel de caña para escribir en latín y el pincel para realizar en arcilla algunas palabras en arameo.

vestigate and discover through books. We begin by delving into the history of writing from rock painting up until Latin, passing through Ugaritic script and cuneiform writing. We continue

with art in writing: calligrams and we follow on with other languages: sign language, hieroglyphs, Japanese and all the languages represented in our school with the different nationalities.

To end the visit to the exhibition, there is a practical experience; we will write with bird feather quills and ink just like old scribes, use a reed brush for Latin and a brush to write some Aramaic words in clay.

Utilice el crédito disponible en su empresa para formar a sus empleados Las empresas disponen de un crédito de formación anual, la formación bonificada, que es una ayuda económica que se debe destinar a la formación de la plantilla de cada compañía y procede de bonificaciones en las cotizaciones de la Seguridad Social. La formación ayuda a aumentar la competitividad y productividad de toda la empresa ya que se potencian o mejoran las competencias y cualificaciones de sus trabajadores. Y en este sentido, no debe olvidar que las empresas disponen de un crédito para gastar en cursos para sus empleados, y su importe depende

del tamaño de la empresa y de la cuantía cotizada por formación en el año anterior. Hay que tener presente que: • La empresa avanza el dinero del curso y posteriormente descuenta ese importe de las cotizaciones (de modo que recupera el coste del curso, con unos topes fijados en la norma). • La bonificación se puede aplicar a partir de la comunicación de la finalización del curso a la Fundación Estatal para la Formación en el Empleo (antes Fundación Tripartita). En todo caso, el boletín de cotización de diciembre (que se presenta en enero) es el

último en el que se puede aplicar la bonificación. El crédito por formación debe consumirse en el ejercicio; si se pasa este plazo, se pierde. El crédito disponible para las empresas durante el presente ejercicio se calcula a partir de dos datos: lo cotizado por la empresa en concepto de Formación Profesional en el año anterior y el tamaño de su plantilla, que determinará el porcentaje del importe cotizado al cual tiene derecho la empresa: • Empresas de 1 a 9 trabajadores: 100%. • De 10 a 49 trabajadores: 75%.

The Giving Theatre (El Teatro Generoso) presentó en el Teatro Juan Luis Galiardo su nueva obra en escena, una en versión original de “Into the Woods”, de Stephen Sondheim. La dirección de esta nueva producción de la compañía estuvo a cargo de Carmen Fernández. Este estreno culminó un proceso que se ha llevado a cabo desde febrero, periodo durante el cual los miembros de la compañía seleccionados para la temporada teatral 2016/2017 han trabajado de forma intensa

para ofrecer al público la aclamada obra de Broadway, interpretada en versión original con música en vivo, y que ha permitido a sus componentes ampliar su formación, por exigencias de la producción que despliega un alto nivel de canto e interpretación. En el espectáculo participaron una veintena de jóvenes y con beneficios de la función, The Giving Theatre pone en marcha un programa de becas para incluir en la compañía a jóvenes talentosos sin recursos para

afrontar los gastos de su formación. The Giving Theatre (El Teatro Generoso) es una compañía teatral cuyos componentes son jóvenes seleccionados en audiciones anuales para formar parte de la compañía durante una temporada, en el transcurso de la cual se formarán en las tres disciplinas del género de teatro musical: canto, interpretación y danza. La temporada culminó con la puesta en escena del montaje que se haya llevado a cabo durante esos meses.

The Giving Theatre dazzles at Teatro Juan Luis Galiardo Company puts on famous show “Into the Woods” The Giving Theatre performed at Teatro Juan Luis Galiardo their latest work, an original version of “Into the Woods” by Stephen Sondheim. Around twenty young people took part in the show, and with the proceeds The Giving Theatre will launch a scholarship programme to include talented underprivileged young people by meeting the costs of their

training. The Giving Theatre is a theatre company made up of young people selected in annual auditions to form part of the company for a season, over the course of which they are trained in the three disciplines of musical theatre: singing, acting and dance. The season ends with the performance of a production which they have been working on over these months.

The Cultural Association of Sotogrande has published its events and activities programme for the festive season. There are two main events in the programme. No doubt many of you have already seen and heard the choir perform, and know how they create a wonderful atmosphere. Saturday 24 December at 16.00: ZAMBOMBA. Andalusia Valderrama Masters, five years of the best golf Real Club Valderrama is consolidating its commitment to maintaining a high level tournament on the European Circuit and doing so alongside the Regional Council of Andalusia which has signed an agreement that will last at least five years. The objective: to become one of the tournaments of the Rolex Series very soon Golf at the highest level and at least for five years. That is the minimum period of the commitment obtained by the Department of Tourism and Sport of the Regional Council of Andalusia and Real Club Valderrama in order to position Sotogrande and the entire autonomous community as a benchmark in international golf and to promote it internationally. The Andalusia Valderrama Masters hosted by The Sergio García Foundation will be held next year between 19 and 22 October. This is an agreement with the objective and clear ambition, with very advanced stage negotiations with sponsors and collaborators, of quickly turning this tournament

into one of the venues on the European Tour Rolex Series, the elite circuit competition whose seven current events have a minimum prize purse of seven million dollars. This is an option that was not been ruled out during the competition presentation, and it could even be reached in time for the unveiling of the 2017 Andalusia Valderrama Masters, due to how advanced the negotiations are and the willingness of the European Circuit itself and Rolex. During the presentation, there was no official disclosure of the prize purse of the competition although it is more than likely that it will surpass that of the past Spanish Open, if we use speculation about possi-

ble sponsors as a reference, along with the aim of attaining a figure close to seven million in order to try and enter the Rolex Series. The fact is that, in the long-term, Valderrama aims to consolidate its presence on the European Tour on a large scale, and it is doing it by getting back one of the main backers of the last important events in Sotogrande, namely, the Regional Council of Andalusia, which last spring already revealed its intention to get involved more in a big top-level golfing event along with the legendary course. To begin with, the Department of Sport and Tourism will provide slightly less than one million Euros per edition of the tournament (975,000 Euros),

El esfuerzo conquista un sueño La joven golﬁsta guadiareña cierra un año para el recuerdo, tras su paso a profesional y la consecución de la tarjeta para el Tour Europeo, con el pasaporte para el Circuito Americano, la élite del golf femenino internacional ✑ Manuel Gil

El año 2016 difícilmente podrá ser olvidado por María Parra, probablemente, la golfista con mayor proyección nacional y una de las grandes promesas del golf femenino europeo. La guadiareña, perteneciente a SIGA Sotogrande, cierra un año para el recuerdo lleno de buenas noticias y extraordinarios resultados aunque no exento de un enorme trabajo y sacrificio. Un gran esfuerzo que ha dado como resultado su paso al mundo profesional y la tarjeta del Ladies European Tour, tras su temporada en el circuito de promoción continental LET Acces Series (en el que finalizó tercera en la orden del mérito con más de una victoria en el calendario). Aunque el 2016 aún guardaba una sorpresa más, la joya de la corona y la guinda del pastel en el día de su 19 cumpleaños, “me daba miedo encender el móvil cuando acabé de jugar”, explica María. Su impecable torneo en la Final de la Escuela de Promoción, en Daytona (Florida), le hicieron, al primer intento, valedora de la obtención de la tarjeta para el LPGA Tour (el circuito americano, la élite del golf internacional femenino). “Ha sido un bombazo, no me lo esperaba”, confiesa María, muy risueña. “Fui con mucha confianza en mi juego pero en ningún momento esperaba quedar entre las veinte primeras [puestos que dan acceso a una tarjeta] con el nivel de las jugadoras del torneo. Ha sido increíble conseguir en tres meses las dos tarjetas de profesional [europea y americana], no se puede explicar”,

afirma. Y además, lo hizo con el peor traspiés que puede tener un golfista al inicio de un torneo, que una aerolínea no transportase sus palos y tenga que jugar con unos alquilados, algo que, afortunadamente, hoy cuenta entre risas y como una anécdota que no olvidará. Sin duda, una temporada apasionante con muchas cosas vividas para esta guadiareña. “Ha sido un tren de sensaciones increíble. Empecé el año como amateur, hasta septiembre, y todo la temporada trabajando muy duro porque han sido muchos torneos, para consolidar los objetivos que tenía fijados (torneos

amateur, circuito de promoción, invitaciones con profesionales,…,) pero al ﬁnal todo ha salido mejor de lo esperado y con la guinda del circuito americano”. Recompensa a un campaña que se inició con buenas sensaciones y ﬁnalizó aún mejor. “Cuando comencé la temporada con la victoria en Portugal, con un -18 en cuatro días, y ahí noté que podía ser un buen año. Continué con algunas victorias amateur y conforme iba compitiendo en las pruebas del LET Acces la cosa mejoraba aunque creía que saliese así. De 15 torneos, jugué 11, pase el corte en todos y gané. Las cosas siguieron lanzadas pero nunca pensé un desenlace así.

Todo ha ido siendo un premio, uno tras otro”, asegura Parra. Ahora la cuestión es la siguiente, cómo se plantea la próxima temporada, dónde competirá más. Juan Antonio Marín, manager y entrenador de María Parra, adelanta algunos detalles sobre la planiﬁcación de su temporada. “Hay que tener en cuenta que el circuito americano tiene entre 30/35 torneos, que son muchos, con periplos muy exigentes respecto a la carga de torneos. Por lo que, principalmente, su objetivo estará más centrado en el circuito americano, con el ﬁn de conservar la tarjeta para el próximo año. Aunque ello no descarta que en ciertas fases de la tem-

porada, con menos intensidad de torneos americanos, también acudamos a competir en pruebas del tour europeo”, explica. Un mundo, el del golf profesional, que también necesita de una importante gestión de recursos y de la búsqueda de sponsors para la proyección de una carrera deportiva en la élite del deporte. “Para competir a este nivel, obviamente, se necesita de la ayuda de muchos patrocinadores para hacerlo posible. Las temporadas temporada son muy largas, muchos los torneos, multitud de desplazamientos, en definitiva, es fundamental tener el apoyo y el respaldo de colaboradores, especialmente durante el primer año. Sin el apoyo de firmas como Berenberg, Fertiberia, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande o Ping, sería impensable continuar con la proyección de María al más alto nivel competitivo aunque siguen siendo necesarios más apoyos, aún más con el circuito americano en el que es todo más complejo y costoso”, explica Marín, conocedor de las dificultades de todas esas parcelas del golf profesional fuera del campo. Si el 2016 quedará como un año de recuerdos imborrables para María Parra, familia, amigos y todos los que siguen sus pasos en el Valle del Guadiaro, que no son pocos, el ya cercano 2017 seguro que vendrá también cargado de buenas noticias para esta luchadora. Un periplo de nuevos retos, desafíos y en el que seguro llevará el nombre de esta zona por los más importantes altares del golf mundial. ¡Bravo María y toda la suerte del mundo!

Hard Work Conquers Dreams

The young golfer from Guadiaro concludes a memorable year, after turning professional and obtaining the European Tour card, and a passport to the American Circuit, the elite circuit in women´s international golf 2016 will be hard to forget for María Parra, who is probably the female golfer with greatest national impact and one of the big hopes in European women´s golf. The girl from Guadiaro, who is a member of SIGA Sotogrande, is closing out a memorable year filled with good news and extraordinary results, although it was not without an enormous amount of work and sacrifice. This great work has resulted in her taking the step up to the professional world and obtaining the Ladies European Tour card, following her season on the LET Access Series continental promotion circuit (where she finished third on the order of merit with more than one victory throughout the year). However, 2016 had more surprises in store, the jewel in the crown and the icing on the cake came on the day of her 19th birthday, “I was scared to turn on my mobile phone when I had finished playing”, explains María. Her impeccable tournament in the Final of the Promotion School, in Daytona (Florida), earned her, on her first attempt, the card for the LPGA Tour (the American circuit, the elite circuit in international women´s golf). “It was a real bombshell, I was not expecting it”, admits María, really cheerful. “I went there with a lot of confidence in my game but at no point was I expecting to finish in the top twenty (the positions that grant access to a card) due to the level of players at the tournament.

It has been incredible to obtain the two professional cards within three months (European and American), it is something you cannot explain”, she states. Furthermore, she did it with the

promotion circuit, invitations with professionals...) but in the end everything turned out better than expected and with the icing on the cake with the American circuit”. It is the reward for a season that

Now, she faces the following question, how will she approach next season, where will she compete more? Juan Antonio Marín, her manager and trainer, disclosed some details about the

An airline failed to transport her clubs and she had to play with rented clubs, something that, fortunately she now laughs about, as a story that she will never forget. It has undoubtedly been an exciting season, with a lot of experiences for this girl from Guadiaro. “It has been a train of incredible sensations. I began the year as an amateur, up until September, and I was working very hard all season because there were a lot of tournaments in order to attain the objectives set (amateur tournaments,

started with a good feeling and ﬁnished even better. “When I began the season with the win in Portugal, with -18 over four days, I thought then that this could be a good year. I continued with a few amateur wins and as I continued to compete in the events of the LET Access Series, things improved, although I did not think they would turn out as they did. Of 15 tournaments, I played 11, I made the cut in all of them and I won. Things continued to heat up, but I never thought it would end like this. It has just been one prize after another”, notes Parra.

This world of professional golf also requires important management of resources and the search for sponsors in order to plan a sports career at the elite level of the sport. “In order to compete at this level, it is obviously necessary to have the help of lots of sponsors in order to make it possible. The seasons are very long, there are lots of tournaments and trips, in short, it is crucial to have the support and backing of collaborators, especially during the first year. Without the support of brands like Berenberg, Fertiberia, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande and Ping, it would be inconceivable to continue to extend Maria’s impact at the highest level of competition, however more support is still necessary, even more so with the American circuit where everything is more complex and expensive”, explains Marín, who is aware of the difficulties of all professional golf lives away from the course. While 2016 will remain as a year of unforgettable memories for María Parra, family and friends, and everyone that follows her in Valle del Guadiaro, which is a significant number, the already approaching 2017 will also surely be packed with good news for this great fighter. This is a journey with new obstacles and challenges where she will undoubtedly carry the name of this area to the highest altars in world golf. “Nos exigimos que Valderrama mantenga un nivel de excelencia día a día” 1 Manuel Gil

Enhorabuena por este merecido premio. ¿Cómo fue? Muchas gracias. El protocolo para optar al premio Greenkeeper del año otorgado por la Asociación Española de Greenkeepers, consiste en que cada delegación propone a algún profesional de su zona y los asociados votan por el que crean más oportuno. Sin duda, es algo de lo que me siento muy orgulloso porque es un premio concedido por tus propios compañeros del sector y se valora aún más. Es un reconocimiento al trabajo, esfuerzo y dedicación que exige esta profesión, no menos viniendo de un campo como Valderrama. ¿Cómo llegó a convertirse en greenkeeper de Valderrama? Acabando los estudios de Ingeniero Agrónomo y motivado por mi cercanía con esta zona (natural de Algeciras), comienzo a interesarme por el golf. Asisto a varias charlas sobre mantenimiento de campos y veo que es algo que me atrae. Pedí en varios campos hacer prácticas y fue en Valderrama donde empecé. Precisamente, estando ya desarrollando mis prácticas en Valderrama es cuando me entero de la existencia de una beca dentro del club. Beca que a posteriori me ofrece D. Jaime Ortiz-Patiño a través de la Asociación Americana de greenkeepers, para estudiar en la prestigiosa Michigan State Uni-

versity realizando la carrera de Golf Turfgrass Management. Y como uno de esos trenes que pasan una vez en la vida, D. Jaime [Ortiz-Patiño] y Juan Zumaquero a los que siempre estaré agradecido, me brindaron la posibilidad de irme al extranjero para seguir formándome. Me marché a Estados Unidos a estudiar, previo paso por algunos campos de Inglaterra para conocer, trabajar y perfeccionar el inglés, eso sería sobre el año 2003.

¿Y su regreso a Sotogrande? Tras acabar los estudios, pasé por Playa Macenas (Almería) pero a los pocos meses recibí la llamada de D. Jaime [Ortiz-Patiño]; en ese momento comencé a trabajar en Valderrama. Y es a raíz de la entrada de Javier Reviriego como director general cuando paso a hacerme cargo del mantenimiento. Valderrama tiene un nivel de exigencia único… Nuestra exigencia es tener día a día el campo en las mejores con-

diciones posibles tanto para sus socios con el alto nivel que ello conlleva, como para los greenfees que llegan. Todos los días del año intentamos que tenga un nivel de torneo profesional. Nuestras exigencias son máximas porque las expectativas del jugador cuando viene a Valderrama son enormes y espera encontrarse con algo increíble y exclusivo. ¿Es más complicado mantener un nivel constante que preparar un campo para un fin de semana de competición? Claro. Lo más complejo es que trabajamos con distintas variedades de césped, estación fría y cálida, diferentes alturas de corte, variaciones en el clima, una masa de alcornocal única. Mantener este campo, con sus singularidades en las mejores condiciones, sabemos que no es fácil pero es nuestro objetivo. Al final todos los días son un reto, Valderrama es como montar en un pura sangre. El campo tiene que mantener su nivel de exigencia de forma diaria. Las expectativas del jugador son muy altas y para ello trabajamos. ¿El trabajo del greenkeeper exige una gran planificación? Sí. Organizamos el trabajo con vistas a un año entero, en base a unos presupuestos, y según una planificación económica y agronómica, aunque también contamos con una gran influencia diaria de im-

previstos. Mantenemos un guión pero cada mañana analizamos qué vamos a hacer y dónde vamos a actuar. ¿El factor humano es imprescindible? Es fundamental. No todo son componentes de estudio o planificación, la plantilla son tus manos de trabajo en el campo y es un reto que todo funcione orquestada y adecuadamente. El equipo debe estar convencido y creer en lo que está haciendo. Es la clave. Ya que me brindas la oportunidad quería agradecer el grandísimo trabajo que día a día desarrolla toda la plantilla de mantenimiento del Real Club Valderrama. ¿Es clave para un greenkeeper jugar al golf? En mi opinión es importantísimo. Al final, el campo como mejor se ve es pisándolo, sintiéndolo, jugándolo y andando por él. Es la única forma de llegar a los detalles que no ves desde la oficina o el buggie. En definitiva, no estamos cultivando una planta, mantenemos una superficie para la práctica de un deporte. En lo personal me gusta practicarlo, juego lo que las obligaciones me permiten y profesionalmente lo veo necesario. ¿Tu campo preferido? Todos menos Valderrama [bromea]. Al final no sales de la oficina aunque ésta sea de 60 ha.

The protocol for entering the Greenkeeper of the year award given by the Spanish Greenkeepers Association, involves each delegation putting forward a professional from their area, and associates vote for the one they feel is most suitable. Undoubtedly, it is something that I feel very proud of because it is a prize given by your own colleagues in the sector and is valued even more. It is recognition for the work, effort and dedication that this profession demands, and even more so with a course like Valderrama. How did you end up becoming greenkeeper at Valderrama? Finishing my Agricultural Engineering studies and because of my closeness to this zone (a native of Algeciras), I began to become interested in golf. I attended various talks about the maintenance of golf courses and I saw that it was something that appealed to me. I asked to do work

experience at several courses and I started at Valderrama. Indeed, when carrying out my work experience at Valderrama, I became aware of the existence of a grant at the club. I was subsequently offered the grant by Mr Jaime Ortiz-Patiño through the American Association of Greenkeepers, in order to study at the prestigious Michigan State University, taking the Golf Turfgrass Management degree. Like one of those trains that only pass once in life, Mr Jaime (Ortiz-Patiño) and Juan Zumaquero, who I will always be grateful to, gave me the chance to go abroad in order to continue my training. I went to the United States to study, before heading to some courses in England in order to get to know, work on and perfect my English, that was back in 2003. And what about your return to Sotogrande? After finishing my studies, I headed for Playa Macenas (Almería), however after a few months I received a call

from Mr Jaime (Ortiz-Patiño); that is when I began working at Valderrama. The arrival of Javier Reviriego as director general is when I took charge of maintenance. Valderrama has a unique level of demands... Our requirement is to have the course in the best possible conditions on a daily basis, for the members with the high level that involves, as well as for those paying green fees that come. Each day of the year, we try to ensure it is at the level of a professional tournament. We have the highest level of demands because players have enormous expectations when they come to Valderrama and hope to find something exclusive and incredible. Is it more complicated to maintain a constant level that to prepare a course for a weekend of competition? Of course. The most complex aspect is that we work with different types of grass, cold and warm seasons, different cutting heights, climate var-

iations, a unique area of cork oaks. Maintaining this course in the best conditions with its unique particularities, we know that it is not easy but it is our aim. Ultimately, every day is a challenge, Valderrama is like riding a thoroughbred horse. The course has to maintain its level of demand on a daily basis. Players have very high expectations and we work to ensure they are met. Does the work of a greenkeeper demand a lot of planning? Yes. We organise the work a year in advance, based on budgets, and according to financial and agricultural planning, although unforeseen daily circumstances also have a big influence. We have a script to follow but every morning we analyse what we are going to do and where we are going to act. The human factor is crucial? It is essential. Not everything is about studying or planning, the workforce are the working hands out on the course and it is a challenge to

ensure that everything is orchestrated and works properly. The team needs to be convinced and believe in what you are doing. That is the key. Now that you are offering me the chance, I would like to thank the entire maintenance team at Real Club Valderrama for the really great work they do each day. Is it very important for a greenkeeper to play golf? In my opinion it is of crucial importance. Ultimately, the best way to see the course is by stepping on it, feeling it and walking over it. It is the only manner to appreciate the details, that you do not notice from the office or buggie. In short, we are not growing a plant, we are maintaining a surface in order to play a sport. Personally, I like to play, when obligations allow me, and when I view it as necessary on a professional level. Your favourite course? Anything but Valderrama (joking). Ultimately, you never leave the office, although this one is 60 hectares.

77 y 73 golpes- ocupó el segundo lugar. El tercer puesto fue para el también federado por el Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, Nicolay Dostal, que finalizó la primera jornada en segundo puesto provisional y que, finalmente, entregó un total de 154 golpes, los mismos que Agustín Mazarrasa, que se hizo con el cuarto puesto. En cuanto a la categoría femenina, la jugadora del Club de Golf Bellavista, Mª Luisa Artés, defendió –con vueltas de 86 y 83 golpes- su liderado la clasificación con 169 golpes al total y una amplia ventaja de diez impactos sobre la jugadora local Claire Julie McCathie, que sea hecho con la segunda posición.

El Campeonato Internacional de Andalucía Mid Amateur, disputado en el Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, contó con la participación de más de medio centenar de jugadores y con la victoria del federado por el Club de Campo La Zagaleta, Jacobo Cestino, y la jugadora del Club de Golf Bellavista, Mª Luisa Artés. Jacobo Cestino conquistó así su quinto triunfo consecutivo en la competición. Para ello, durante esta segunda ronda firmó 71 golpes (-1), los mismos que entregó en la primera y lo situaron al frente de la clasificación desde el inicio. Así, con 142 golpes al total, el malagueño tuvo ocho de ventaja sobre el jugador local, Jaime Villar que –con vueltas de

Dressage Sotogrande, colofón de oro en la Copa Andalucía de Doma La expedición de Sotogrande cierra la temporada con tres oros, una plata y un bronce en la cita autonómica de Sevilla 1 Redacción

El Dressage Sotogrande (Equipo de Doma Clásica de Sotogrande) cerró una intensa temporada 2016 con un verdadero broche de Oro formado por 5 podios, 3 en la Final, de la II Copa de Andalucía. Un total de 9 binomios representaron a la expedición de Sotogrande en la final andaluza celebrada en el Real Club Pineda de Sevilla. Un fin de semana de infarto y emociones en el que ni la fuerte lluvia a mermado la capacidad de esfuerzo y la ilusión de los jóvenes participantes. El resultado de los 9 binomios: 3 Oros, 1 Plata y 1 Bronce, seguidos de 2 cuartos, un quinto y décimo clasificado de Andalucía. En Juveniles 1*, la fuerte apuesta internacional del Equipo, Coral Buenestado (16) con su espectacular caballo westfaliano Fudji logró un merecido Oro mostran-

do de forma holgada la evolución lograda desde que adquirió el caballo hace solo dos años. En Promoción 2, la amazona residente en Sotogrande Nina Urnieta (14) montando a Guardian se colgó otro brillante Oro con una prueba intachable que la subraya como promesa clara de la Doma; mientras que su compañera de prueba, Ángeles Guerreo (14) quedó con Gatsby a décimas del bronce, proclamándose 4ª de Andalucía de su categoría. En Alevines a las pequeñas Lola Martín y Teresa Aja, ambas de 11 años les tocó el peor momento climatológico de la competición, teniendo que entrar a pista justo cuando la lluvia se convirtió en pesada cortina de agua, aun así ejecutaron unas estupendas pruebas que las dejaron a las puertas del podio quedando respectivamente 4ª y 5ª clasificadas

de Andalucía. Karin Orsing con Condesa afrontó una complicada Final en la prueba Clásica por la fuerte tensión de la yegua que penalizó fuertemente la Media y le alejó delos primeros puestos. Por su parte en la Copa de consolación, en Rider 2 María Recaño (17) a lomos de Cantinera se colgó un Oro muy merecido tras una dura temporada de entrenamiento con la potra PRE, y su hermana Daniela Recaño (11) con Piropo se colgó la Plata en Promoción 1. Por último la nota divertida la puso una vez más el benjamín del Equipo, Curro Ramírez que en la prueba de Asiento y Posición mostró como con 6 años y a pesar de los nervios que pasó se puede ser un jinete de categoría y se colgó el Bronce entre las Olas y los aplausos de sus compañeras de Equipo.

Dressage Sotogrande, gold finishing touch at Andalusia Dressage Cup The Sotogrande delegation finished season with three golds, a silver and a bronze at the regional event in Seville Dressage Sotogrande (Sotogrande Classic Dressage Team) finished an intense 2016 season with a true Gold finishing touch formed by 5 podium finishes, 3 in the Final, of the 2nd Andalusian Cup. A total of 9 pairs represented the Sotogrande delegation at the Andalusian final held at Real Club Pineda de Seville. It was a heart stopping weekend of excitement where not even the heavy rain could diminish the efforts and hopes of the young participants. The result of the 9 pairs: 3 Golds, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze, followed by 2 fourth places, a fifth place and tenth place Andalusian rankings finish. In Under-19s 1*, the strong international hope of the team, Coral Buenestado (16) with her spectacular Westphalian horse

achieved a well-deserved Gold comfortably showing how she has improved since acquiring the horse just two years ago. In Promotion 2, the Nina Urnieta (14), who resides in Sotogrande, riding Guardian, earned another brilliant Gold with a perfect heat, highlighting how she is a real promise in Dressage; while her heat companion, Ángeles Guerreo (14) just missed out on bronze with her horse Gatsby, finishing 4th in Andalusia in her category. In the Under-12s, the young riders Lola Martín and Teresa Aja, both aged 11, suffered the worst weather of the competition, having to go out to the ring just when the rain became a heavy curtain of water. Even so, they had great heats, that saw them just miss out on the podium, fin-

ishing 4th and 5th respectively in Andalusia. Karin Orsing with Condesa faced a difficult Final in the Classic heat due to the mare´s tenseness which cost dearly and took her away from the top spots. In turn, in the Consolation Cup, in Rider 2, María Recaño (17) riding Cantinera, took a very well-deserved Gold after a difficult season of training with the filly PRE, and her sister Daniela Recaño (11) with Piropo took Silver in Promotion 1. Lastly, the touch of fun was added by the youngest member of the Team, Curro Ramírez, who showed in the Seat and Position category how, despite the nerves, a 6-year-old can be a top rider, and he took Bronze among the Mexican waves and applause from his teammates.

Victoria sin paliativos con nada menos que cinco golpes de margen respecto a los segundos clasificados, Gonzalo Gancedo y y Jamie Dick. El invicto La Dolfina Sancor Seguros consiguió su 17mo. triunfo consecutivo en el Abierto de Palermo, venció a Ellerstina Johor por 16-12 y logró el 123º Campeonato Argentino Abierto de Polo HSBC, con lo cual se proclama ganador por cuarta vez consecutiva en el torneo más importante del mundo del polo. Para la formación liderada por Adolfo Cambiaso fue la decimosexta final (décima segunda consecutiva) en los últimos 17 años. Logró su décimo título en Palermo y continúa tercero entre los equipos más ganadores del tor-

neo, sólo por debajo de Coronel Suárez (25) y Hurlingham (15). Entre los ocho jugadores que disputaron la final del torneo, acumulan 39 títulos en Palermo (Cambiaso, 13; Mac Donough y Nero, 7; Stirling, 5; Facundo y Gonzalo (h) Pieres 3; y Nicolás Pieres, 1), siendo Pablo Pieres el único que hasta el momento no pudo levantar el máximo trofeo mundial. La Dolfina no se cansa de ganar Que La Dolfina es parte de la historia del polo no sorprende, no es nuevo, pues ha hecho bastantes méritos en los últimos años como para ni siquiera atreverse a dudarlo, sin embargo, sigue demostrando año a año, torneo a torneo, que no quiere bajarse del carro ganador, al menos todavía. La cancha 1 del Campo Argentino de Polo, en Palermo, era un hervidero de gente que, en una tarde de calor intenso, copó las gradas y tribunas de un recinto que se llenó por primera vez este año para presenciar la gran final del 123 Campeonato Argentino Abierto de Polo. En la cancha, los de siempre, los dos grandes equipos del polo mundial en los últimos tiempos; por un lado La Dolfina, con Adolfo Cambiaso (h), David ‘Pelón’ Stirling (h), Pablo MacDonough y Juan Martín Nero, y por el otro Ellerstina, con Facundo Pieres, Pablo Pieres, Gonzalo Pieres (h) y Nicolás Pieres. Sobre la mesa, todo servido para disfrutar de un espectáculo único, en el lugar donde el deporte del polo alcanza su máxima expresión y nivel a lo largo del año, polo en estado puro. Así las cosas, el partido comenzaba con un equipo de Ellerstina tratando de demostrar que también quiere ganar este Trofeo, que la victoria en Hurlingham había que hacerla valer. Sin embargo, y a pesar de un inicio algo errático para lo que suele acostumbrar, La Dolfina nunca se bajó del marcador gracias a un enorme ‘Pelón’ Stirling (a la postre recibiría el premio Gonzalo Heguy al MVP de la final), que, junto a Facundo Pieres por el bando contrario, fueron los más destacados de unos primeros cuatro chukkers que finalizaron con 6-7 a favor de ‘La Z’. En los siguientes dos periodos, la igualdad se hizo máxime, finalizando el sexto con un resultado de 11-11. Buen nivel de polo, un Nico Pieres que daba grandes momentos y un Adolfo Cambiaso que comenzaba a mostrar su condición de número 1 poco a poco. El partido, por estos momentos, no daba respiro a ningún espectador, pues había constantes jugadas de peligro y un nivel muy alto por parte de los dos equipos. Pero llegó el séptimo chukker, ahí La Dolfina apareció por todo lo alto, el conjunto al completo, que, de forma muy ordenada y trabajada, consiguió un gran parcial de 3-0 en muy poco tiempo que no encontró respuesta por parte de los Pieres. 14-11; el partido y el Abierto estaban casi sentenciados. Finalmente, el encuentro tuvo dos goles más en el octavo y último chukker que sirvieron para dejar el marcador en el definitivo 16-12, tras un partido en el que Ellerstina quiso por muchos momentos pero el gen y la garra de La Dolfina le hicieron volver a ganar, algo de lo que no se cansa.

El monotipo ‘Gesta Real Estate’, de John Bassadone, consolida su liderato en la clasificación general provisional del VI Circuito de J/80 Marina Sotogrande tras imponerse en el Trofeo Cafetería RCM Sotogrande. La cita se resolvía en una única jornada -la del sábado día 3 de diciembre- y tres pruebas, toda vez que el domingo el fuerte temporal que azotaba la costa del sol no permitió la salida al mar de las embarcaciones. A pesar de reinar un viento de levante con buena intensidad, la ola cruzada de la bocana del puerto, la tormenta eléctrica, la falta de visibilidad por la intensa lluvia y los cambios bruscos de viento, resultaron ingredientes más que suficientes para suspender y dejar a la flota a resguardo de males mayores. Así las cosas, la clasificación de este tercer asalto al VI Circuito de J/80 Marina Sotogrande denomi-

nado Trofeo Cafetería RCM Sotogrande, se quedaba como estaba tras las tres pruebas celebradas el sábado, con victoria del ‘Gesta Real Estate’ de John Bassadone con dos 1º y un 2º, seguido del noruego Vidar Hansson con el ‘High Seas’, 5º, 1º y 2º, y el barco de Iñaki Castañer, ‘I. Castañer Yachts’, que en su estreno en el circuito anotaba un 2º, un 4º y un 3º que le permitían ocupar la tercera plaza de podio. A las puertas se quedaba el ‘Marbella Team de Pepequín Orbaneja y Juan Luis Páez, que sigue sin encontrarse del todo cómodo en este inicio de circuito. Este fin de semana anotaba dos 3º y un 4º y se quedaba a un punto de podio. Tras esta nueva entrega y con un total de 15 pruebas ya en lo que va de circuito, el ‘Gesta Real Estate’ no sólo mantiene su liderato sino que lo consolida aumentando de

dos a ocho puntos la distancia con el defensor del título, el ‘Marbella Team’, quien por su parte aguanta la segunda plaza por delante del ‘High Seas’ de Hansson, tercero con doce puntos más pero afianzando también la tercera plaza con once puntos de renta con el ‘PAS Team’ de Caine Federico y Ricardo Zabell. La próxima cita, cuarta entrega del circuito y primera del 2017, será el fin de semana del 14 y 15 de enero, jornada que será la penúltima para conocer al ganador del circuito de invierno cuya última prueba será la de febrero. The monotype ‘Gesta Real Estate’, owned by John Bassadone, consolidates its leadership in the general provisional classification of the 6th J80 Sotogrande Marina Circuit after winning the RCM Cafeteria Sotogrande Trophy. The event took place on a single day - Saturday 3 December - with three races, while on Sunday the rough weather that hit the Costa del Sol did not allow the boats to head out to sea. Despite a strong easterly wind, the waves crossing the entrance to the port, the poor visibility due to the intense rain and sudden changes in wind, were sufficient reasons to suspend the event and prevent the boats from facing greater issues. As a result, the classification following the third assualt on the 6th J/80 Sotogrande Marina Circuit, the RCM Cafeteria Sotogrande Trophy , remained as it was after the three tests held on Saturday, with victory of ‘Gesta Real Estate’ owned by John Bassadone with two 1sts and a 2nd, followed by the Norwegian Vidar Hansson with ‘High Seas’, 5th, 1st and 2nd, and Iñaki Castañer’s boat, ‘I. Castañer Yachts’, which at its first outing in the circuit scored 2nd, a 4th and a 3rd, allowing

it to occupy the third podium place. Still waiting are the Marbella Team of Pepequín Orbaneja and Juan Luis Páez, who have not got off to an entirely comfortable start at the early stages of the circuit. This weekend they scored two 3rds and one 4th, remaining a point away from the podium. After this latest entry, and with a total of 15 races to go in the circuit, ‘Gesta Real Estate’ not only maintains its leadership but strengthens it, increasing from 2 to 8 points the distance from the title defender, ‘Marbella Team’, who meanwhile hold second place ahead of Hansson’s ‘High Seas’, in third place with twelve points more, but also strengthened in third place with eleven points is ‘PAS Team’, owned by Caine Federico and Ricardo Zabell.
