Nos pasamos prácticamente un año entero hablando de la excelencia de un estación del año por encima de todas [el verano] y si apuran, de un mes especialmente y en concreto: agosto. Se habla tanto de agosto que ya casi se duda si será el mes central del verano o se confunde con “agua de mayo”. La realidad es que en casi todos los círculos empresariales y comerciales las bienaventuranzas sobre el mes ‘fetiche’, el mes ‘cumbre’ o como quieran llamarlo centran las conversaciones durante una larga temporada del año. Pasamos casi más tiempo hablando de su venida, cual aparición mesiánica, que de disfrutarlo. De “vivirlo” que se dice ahora. La cuestión es que entre tantas cosas, con un mes de un julio un poco atípico y menos ajetreado a lo que acostumbraba en los últimos años, agosto desembarca casi sin previo aviso

de urgencia el Ayuntamiento (esperemos que no sea expedientado como el verano anterior), que con o sin responsabilidad actuó ante la pasividad de Junta y Gobierno Centra. ¿Qué pasa? ¿Nadie paga? ¿No hay culpables? Se demanda algo más de implicación por las grandes instituciones en este asunto. Cuidado y mimo en zonas frecuentadas, sacamos los restos en el Centro Comercial San Roque Club, el riesgo de incendio que ello supone y como siempre, se recomienda prevenir antes de curar. Un coherente estacionamiento de vehículos por parte de los usuarios, respeto a los precios y mimo al cliente para los establecimientos, etc. Esos y muchos detalles más que pueden hacer de un destino “notable” uno “extraordinario” en calidad de servicios. Y por supuesto, diviértanse que es agosto y esto es Sotogrande.

So, August is here.... with some unﬁnished business/loose ends to tie up We spend nearly all year talking about that most wondrous season of the year (the summer) and–if you really think about it–one month in particular: August. There is so much talk of August that you really can’t tell any more whether it is simply the middle month of the summer or manna from heaven. The fact is that for most of the year, discussion in nearly all areas of business and commerce centres fetishistically around the blessings of this marvellous month, the King of Months, or whatever you wish to call it. We spend virtually the same amount of time talking about the approach–nay, the messianic advent–of August as we do enjoying it, or, as they say these days, “living it”. The thing is that given everything else going on, and with an unusual and less busy July than we have been used to in recent years, the arrival of August, with all

its stories, its life and its joys, is bursting in on Sotogrande virtually without any warning. Our regular feature, ‘Informe’, elsewhere in this edition of the Periódico, presents a journey around Sotogrande’s tourist highlights, the most visited, most recognisable places for those who come to spend time with us during the summer, a review of the most emblematic, most enjoyable and most enticing features of the area for a summer trip at this busiest time of the year, places to remember from this idyllic spot. And another thing: the (possibly unwitting) tangle that has come to hide what is essentially a simple, childish game of pass-the-parcel. That is what seems be under way between various parts of local government, who seem appear unable to agree who is responsible for what in the case of the mouth of the river Guadiaro. In the end, urgent action was taken by the

local council (and let us hope this is not simply ﬁled away like last summer), who stepped in regardless of any duty to do so in the absence of any movement on the part of government at both Andalusian Regional and national levels. What is going on? Does nobody have to pay for this? Is nobody guilty of anything? The institutions of government must play a greater role in this matter. Care and attention in busy areas: rubbish is being removed from the Centro Comercial San Roque due to the ﬁre risk it poses and, as ever, prevention is better than cure. Considerate parking by users, appropriate pricing and customer service on the part of local businesses, etc. In terms of quality of services, these and many other little details can turn an “excellent” destination into a merely “good” one. Un agosto ‘esperado’ pero no el que ‘esperábamos’ Aterriza con fuerza, un año más en Sotogrande y toda su área de influencia, el 1 de agosto, fecha fetiche muy ansiada y esperada por prácticamente toda la zona, especialmente por aquellas empresas, negocios y establecimientos vinculados en su actividad económica al sector servicios. Sin lugar ✑ José Luis García a dudas, es el periplo más Editor/Director esperado del año pero jlgarcia@grupohcp.com por varias circunstancias y connotaciones todo indica que se aleja, en cierto grado respecto a las expectativas creadas a lo largo de los meses previos y de la tendencia e inercia de los últimos años, al idílico y excelente agosto que todos planeaban. Si bien la oferta y la apuesta del tejido empresarial se presenta con un bonito envoltorio (en ocasiones sólo eso), parece que la respuesta del cliente y usuario se está haciendo esperar o al menos de rogar durante el pasado mes de julio (nos remitimos a los datos que cotejamos). Por lo que agosto crea algunas incertidumbres en este sector que los últimos dos/tres años ni se planteaban, sencillamente, por un inicio de verano lanzado y sólido con positivas respuestas en términos económicos. Siempre cabe la duda de si el problema reside en el emisor y parte

promotora o en el destinatario, pero prácticamente se puede dictar como realidad la merma de varios servicios y logísticas que en otras temporadas reforzaban la imagen atractiva y de reclamo al ocio, entretenimiento y que al fin al cabo empujaba a potenciar la actividad económica en la zona. En pleno mes de agosto seguimos encontrando situaciones ‘dantescas’ como la constante y reiterada colmatación de la desembocadura del río Guadiaro, año tras año, con el pertinente ‘cacareo’ entre administraciones e instituciones públicas sacudiéndose la responsabilidad de ejecutar y acometer un protocolo definitivo de actuación ante esta reincidente cuestión. Los problemas de estacionamiento de vehículos siguen dando de qué hablar en jornadas claves y de máxima afluencia de usuarios (fines de semana, festivos, etc.). Dejando coches a lo largo de todo Torreguadiaro (desde Las Camelias hasta el Milla de Plata) aparcados a ambos márgenes del arcén o sobre espacios ajardinados. El puente que enlaza La Marina de Sotogrande con la parte primitiva de la urbanización, en creciente estado de deterioro; los accesos y entradas de la urbanización (prácticamente todos), abandonados con rotondas desérticas y que poco o nada tienen que ver con la imagen de exclusividad y excelencia que se asocia a este destino. Incluso, uno de los temas que mejor rendimiento estaba dando en los últimos años: la seguridad, parece que también cede. No son pocos los robos y tentativas que en varios entornos del Valle del Guadiaro se están dando en las últimas semanas. Atentos a ese dato. En definitiva, afrontamos un nuevo agosto, con excesivos aumentos en los precios, lo cual nuevamente pedimos sean coherentes y se ajusten a la capacidad de prestación de servicios y calidad.

Pero afortunadamente, con todo ello, podemos presumir de un destino único y que tiene mucho que ofrecer. Con una gran propuesta deportiva y social de eventos y actividades. Las ofertas en ocio y gastronomía suben exponencialmente cada año disponiendo y procurando de más rincones para disfrutar del verano: tales son los casos de los recientemente inaugurados ‘Agosto’, en Trocadero Sotogrande, ó Soho Club Sotogrande, en el Cortijo Los Canos. Quizás, por poner otro ‘pero’, sea en la apuesta de Santa María Polo Club con la 46 edición del Torneo Internacional de Verano en el que la apuesta deportiva sigue mermando verano a verano. Pese al descenso a 20 goles de handicap (desde 22) en el nivel alto, el número de equipos se mantiene en 5 para las copas de Plata y Oro (sin nombrar la participación de sólo 3 en la Copa de Bronce, disputada como subsidiaria de la de Plata en los últimos años). En definitiva, hay que apostar más fuerte y más a lo grande para mantener el gran nivel de polo de que hemos disfrutado en Sotogrande no hace tanto tiempo. Esperemos que con la nueva estructura y equipo directivo se logre mayores éxitos, de lo cual nos alegraremos enormemente. Aunque me remito al párrafo anterior. En buena parte es obligación de un medio de comunicación contar no sólo la cara alegre de las cosas, por ello insistimos y no descansamos en este sentido; pero igualmente presumimos y mostramos que Sotogrande es mucho y más en agosto. Así que vean, disfruten y vivan con todos los sentidos la época más espléndida del año en este privilegiado rincón.

A long-awaited August, but not the one we were waiting for With August already begun, we are still faced with nightmare situations like the never-ending saga of the silting up of the mouth of the river Guadiaro; year after year it goes on, with the customary noisy squabbling between the authorities and the political institutions, all of whom are trying to avoid taking responsibility for making decisions and enacting a definitive procedure for addressing this recurrent issue. Parking problems continue to provoke much debate on key dates with maximum traffic (at weekends, holidays, etc.). Cars are left parked all over Torreguadiaro, on both sides of the road and on areas of lawn and garden. The bridge that links the Marina to the old part of town is in a state of increasing dilapidation; access roads and entry points into the resort (virtually all of them) are abandoned, with untended roundabouts; none of this is remotely like the image of exclusivity and excellence associated with this resort. Things are worse even in one of the areas that had been showing signs of improvement in recent years: security also seems to be in reverse. Recent weeks have seen a number of robberies or attempted robberies in various parts of the Valle del Guadiaro. Watch this space. We are also facing an August of unjustifiable price increases, and appeal for coherent pricing that takes into account the capacity of the services and the quality on offer. But fortunately, despite all this, we can still be sure that we are a unique place to visit, with much to offer, including a great range of

sports and social events and many activities to enjoy. The leisure and gastronomy options increase exponentially every year, with new places to eat and newly sourced products to enhance the summer experience. The latest examples include the recently opened ‘Agosto’ nights at Trocadero Sotogrande, and Soho club Sotogrande, in the Cortijo de los Canos. One final grumble: the continued decline of the summer sports calendar can perhaps be seen in the 46th International Polo Tournament at Santa María Polo Club. Despite the reduction from a 22- to 20-goal handicap at the top level, the number of teams is still five for the Silver and Gold Cups (not to mention the fact that there are only three teams in the Bronze Cup that has been held as a subsidiary competition to the Silver in recent years). Clearly, there is a need to aim higher, to aim bigger in order to maintain the high level of polo we enjoyed in Sotogrande not so long ago. Let us hope that the new structure and new management team can bring greater success, something we would very much celebrate. But to return to the previous paragraph: to a large extent it is the obligation of a voice of the press to relay not only the sunny side of things, something on which we are firm and from which we will not rest. However, we are also proud to show that Sotogrande is a really great place in August. So have a look, enjoy and live the most splendid time of the year in the fullest possible way in this wonderful spot. This year once again the first day of August hits Sotogrande and surrounding area with a bang. Among those whose companies and businesses are linked economically to the service sector, it is an anxiously awaited day, a ‘date with destiny’. It is, no doubt, the most long-awaited part of the year, but for a range of reasons and circumstances all the signs are that this year, it will fall some distance short of being the idyllic and excellent August many had planned for, and will not meet the expectations that have built up over recent months and from the steady trend of recent years. While the commitment and services on offer across the local business sector appears beautifully packaged (sometimes little more than that), it seems that consumer reaction has been slow to materialise, and has even been hard to come by in July (using comparative figures). Thus, August is giving rise to uncertainties in the service sector which, for the last two or three years have not arisen at all, thanks to a flying start to summers past and good momentum, with positive effects on the local economy. There is always a question about whether the problem lies with the service providers or the end users, but in practice, a finger can clearly be pointed at the decline in several services and the related logistics that previously added to our positive image and to the lure of the local leisure industry, which in actual fact has been a potent factor in the local economy.

Sotogrande El área gaditana acaba el mes de junio cerca de las 3 millones de pernoctaciones, 58.000 más que en 2016 en la misma fecha

Con los datos de la coyuntura Turística Hotelera publicados en estos días por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística ya se puede conocer cómo ha funcionado la primera mitad de 2017 para la provincia de Cádiz en materia turística. Los resulta-

dos, más que relevantes. Las principales conclusiones que se pueden sacar son muy positivas, ya que el número de turistas aumentó un 3,93% y el de pernoctaciones un 6,17 entre enero y junio de 2017 en comparación con el mismo periodo de 2016.

Hablando en términos absolutos, en los primeros seis meses de 2017 la provincia de Cádiz recibió más de un millón de viajeros (1.108.821) que han generaron casi tres millones de pernoctaciones (2.994.162). En todos los datos que valora el INE se constata un crecimiento entre este año y el pasado. Así la ocupación llega al 43%, un 6% más que en el acumulado de enero a junio de 2016. El empleo en el sector hotelero en la provincia también arroja mejores cifras que el año pasado rozando los 5.000 empleos mensuales de media, un 5,68% más que en el mismo periodo del año pasado. En cuanto a junio, este año se registraron 58.048 pernoctaciones más que en el mismo mes del año pasado.

The results are very interesting. The main conclusions that can be drawn are very positive, since the number of tourists increased by 3.93% and overnight stays by 6.17% between January and June of 2017 compared with

the same period in 2016. Speaking in absolute terms, in the ﬁrst six months of 2017 the province of Cádiz received more than a million tourists (1,108,821) that generated nearly three million overnight stays (2,994,162). El Consistorio abre de urgencia la bocana del río Guadiaro ✑ Manuel Gil

El Ayuntamiento intervino, con carácter de urgencia, para abrir la bocana del río Guadiaro en unos doce metros de ancho, garantizando la oxigenación del estuario y evitando la muerte de peces, que estaba empezando a registrarse. El alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, reclamó al Gobierno Central y a la Junta de Andalucía que “dejen de discutir sobre este tema y que se adopte una solución deﬁnitiva para que la situación no vuelva a repetirse el año próximo”. Ruiz Boix indicó que esta actuación “me produce una sensación agridulce, porque si bien me alegra el que se evite la muerte de la fauna del río, tengo una sensación agria por el debate entre el Gobierno Central y la Junta de Andalucía por

este tema”. Añadió que “hace un año, desde el Gobierno Central se nos abrió un expediente sancionador por hacer lo que estamos haciendo ahora, porque se atribuía esta competencia a la Demarcación de Costas, que ahora no quiere actuar y que ha echado la pelota al tejado de la Junta de Andalucía. Y la Junta dice que puede autorizar esta actuación, pero que ejecutarla no es su competencia”. El alcalde indicó que “quien no tiene ninguna competencia es el Ayuntamiento, pero la hemos ejercido ante la emergencia medioambiental que supone que ya había una muerte de peces, como nos ha conﬁrmado la empresa que está levantando la tierra y que ha detectado algu-

nos animales muertos”. “El debate sobre la apertura de esta desembocadura -sostuvodebe concluir. El objetivo debe ser que en 2018 no se vuelva a repetir este problema. De hecho, y después de nuestra actuación, no sabemos si dentro de un mes o de mes y medio la bocana no se volverá a cerrar”. “Debo elogiar y agradecer -dijo el primer edil- el enorme trabajo que han realizado en los pasados días los voluntarios, un grupo de ecologistas y vecinos que consiguieron abrir un canal estrecho entre el estuario y el mar, pero que a las 48 horas se volvía a taponar”. “Por nuestra parte, procedemos a esta apertura para no haya un delito medioambiental, y lo hacemos sin competencias y utili-

zando el dinero y los recursos públicos de los ciudadanos de San Roque. Y espero -subrayó Ruiz Boix- que esta actuación no conlleve la apertura de otro expediente para el Ayuntamiento por parte de quien se esconde tras una mesa para no actuar”. “La arena que se va a retirar

-aclaró- va a permanecer aquí, y se la ofrecemos a la administración que lo desee para que la utilice donde quiera. Por ahora hemos conseguido que el río tenga oxígeno, dar vida a los peces. Espero que no empiece otra vez el peloteo de declaraciones entre las administraciones”.

Town Council urgently opens mouth of Guadiaro river The City Council intervened, as a matter of urgency, to open the mouth of the Guadiaro river to about 12 metres wide, ensuring the oxygenation of the estuary and avoiding the death of fish, which was beginning to occur. Por décimo año consecutivo, se pone en marcha en los aparcamientos de la playa de Torreguadiaro la Biblioteca Móvil, con la que la Red Municipal de Bibliotecas acerca el servicio de préstamo de publicaciones a los usuarios de este popular enclave sanroqueño. La Biblioteca Móvil estará disponible para cualquier usuario de lunes a viernes de 11:00 a 13:30 horas hasta el día 8 de septiembre.

“No comparto las previsiones más catastrofistas sobre el ‘Brexit’ 1 Manuel Gil

Buenas Carlos, un placer volver a saludarle. ¿Todo está tan mal como dicen algunos o estamos en la senda de la prosperidad como dice el Gobierno? Vamos relativamente bien, y todo indica que la economía española volverá a crecer en 2017 por cuarto año consecutivo, y a buen ritmo. Pero que todo esto sea mérito del Gobierno ya es más que dudoso… Vivimos un año especial con efemérides importantes: Los JJ. OO. de Barcelona, la Expo de Sevilla, …., ¿en qué hemos mejorado o empeorado desde entonces de aquella España ilusionante? Económicamente hemos mejorado sin duda, con dos puntos negros: el mercado de trabajo, insuficientemente liberalizado, y los impuestos, que los Gobiernos no se atreven a bajar. En política hemos empeorado, con la agitación nacionalista y la llegada de los

We’re doing relatively well, and everything indicates that the Spanish economy will grow in 2017 for the fourth year in a row, and at a good pace. But whether this is all down to the Goverment is highly doubtful… This is a year with a number of important anniversaries: The Barcelona Olympic Games, the Seville Expo... In what was have we improved or worsened since the exciting Spain of those times?

Economically we have undoubtedly improved, with two black spots: the labour market, which has been insufficiently liberalised, and taxes, which Governments do not dare to lower. In politics we have worsened, with nationalist agitation and the arrival of populism. Do you think such populism will ever win? I think not. In Spain I hope the electoral support for Podemos won’t go any further. Is the European project on a tightrope? I don’t think so. Even Brexit can

help to smooth the usual interventionist message in Community authorities. What effect do you think Brexit will end up having? Sotogrande in particular is one of the most sensitive areas for this issue. I don’t share the view of the catastrophists, because I don’t think that the worst-case scenario, that is, a deep and radical rupture, will ultimately benefit the authorities on either side of the English Channel. You are not the only Argentinian in the area. What’s your

view of the country since the arrival of Mauricio Macri to the Casa Rosada? Much better, but it was difficult to do worse than some governments such as those of the Kirchner dynasty. However, Macri is not taking sufficient measures to put the country permanently on the right track. Turning to Sotogrande. How have you found the resort this year? Which of the new projects most caught your attention? Sotogrande seems well to me, better than last year. That said, as I read in this paper, I’m aware of

El espectáculo se llama agosto y el escenario Sotogrande, la combinación perfecta para un verano de récords y esplendor. Una año más la urbanización afronta la temporada alta de actividades y afluencia de turistas con todos sus mecanismos en marcha y con un elenco de propuestas y ofertas al visitante para descubrir y disfrutar de un periplo vacacional para no olvidar en este privilegiado y exclusivo destino del sur de Europa. Por cultura popular, el gran atractivo se encuentra durante las jornadas estivales en las playas de la zona. Destacar, por segundo verano,el aporte de arena, suficiente aunque no todo el esperado ni necesario, en la playa de Sotogrande. El aporte de arena, centrado justamente desde el comienzo de la urbanización conocida como los ‘lacasitos’ hasta la zona de la depuradora, pasando obviamente por el Club de Playa, conecta de nuevo la zona de playa desde la desembocadura del río Guadiaro hasta la fusión de la playa de Sotogrande con Torrecarbonera y Alcaidesa. Tras el salto del río, se encuentra otro de los grandes rin-

cones de Sotogrande, la conocida como playa de los catamaranes, con la Escuela de Vela, chiringuitos y mucho que ofrecer. Destacar también que repiten Torreguadiaro y Cala Sardina como emblemas de playas saludables (respecto a su estado y mantenimiento) con el distintivo de Bandera Azul, que otorga Adeac.. En el apartado de Banderas Azules, también la luceel Puerto de Sotogrande en su régimen especial. Las actividades deportivas, ocio y entretenimiento, además de la gran oferta en gastronomía, música en directo y buena ambiente de ambas playas (Torreguadiaro y Cala Sardina), lo convierten en dos de los puntos de encuentros más frecuentados de la temporada. Sotogrande: ready for the show • • • •

The resort welcomes another August with everything in place and a wide range of offers for visitors. Events and activities, both sporting and social, make for a fantastic tourist offering. The beaches, at a better level than in recent years in terms of services and maintenance. Occupancy rates will exceed 80% on average and fully booked on key dates.

The show is called August, the setting Sotogrande - the perfect combination for a summer of record setting and splendour. For yet another year the resort is looking forward to a high season of activities and an influx of tourists, with everything in place and a cast of proposals and offers in order for visitors to discover and enjoy an unforgettable holiday trip in this privileged and exclusive destination in the south of Europe. For popular culture, the major attraction during the summer is the area’s beaches. Particularly of note, for the second summer in a row, is the supply of sand, sufficient though not at all expected nor necessary, at Sotogrande beach. The supply of sand, focused specifically from the start of the resort known as the ‘lacasitos’ up to the area of the treatment plant, obviously passing by the Beach Club, connects once again the beach area from the mouth of the Guadiaro river up to where Sotogrande beach joins with Torrecarbonera and Alcaidesa. After the waterfall, we find another of the wonderful spots of Sotogrande, known as the Catamaran beach, with the Sailing School, beach bars and much more on offer. It should be noted that Torreguadiaro and Cala Sardina are once again emblems of healthy beaches (in terms of their state and maintenance) with the distinctive Blue Flag, granted by Adeac. In terms of Blue Flags, Sotogrande Marina also stands out for its special status. Sports, leisure and entertainment activities, as well as the great range of food, live music and great atmosphere on offer at both beaches (Torreguadiaro and Cala Sardina), make them two of the

most popular meeting points of the season. It is fair to mention, with particular note of Torreguadiaro; its boulevard remains one of the main tourist attractions in the area with the highest concentration of gastronomy on offer, in terms of variety and quality, in the municipality and probably the Region. Improvements to parking spaces have added to its appeal practically throughout the year. Though once again, for the third consecutive season, the major meeting point for this summer, in addition to the clubs and beach bars, is focused on Sotogrande Marina in the Ribera del Marlin. . In addition to the daily activity it itself generates, it is also worth mentioning the fantastic kids area at the entrance to Ribera del Marlin (Jugarnia), the great variety of markets and

dining locations, it is again full of options throughout the week; also worth mentioning are the live performances. ¿Qué aspectos y lugares destacaría y recomendaría durante un verano en Sotogrande? La edición del 1 de agosto, ésta que tiene en sus manos en estos momentos, es una de las más especiales y seguidas de El Periódico de Sotogrande a lo largo de todo el año. Momento en el que

todas las actividades, eventos y establecimientos comerciales y deportivos se encuentran a pleno rendimiento. A todo ello, hay que sumarle la masiva llegada de visitantes estos días a la zona.

Motivos y circunstancias de sobra para vincular la sección ‘La Ventana de Opinión’ y dedicársela a presentar la urbanización y todo su entorno a los turistas y visitantes que estos días copan

los principales puntos de encuentro. Entre las opiniones sugeridas se encuentran varias recomendaciones, destacados puntos de interés y algunas cosas a mejorar en re-

ferencia a servicios y actividades que han mejorado o mermado en su oferta. En definitiva, algunas líneas maestras para conocer y disfrutar de este entorno durante el mes de agosto.

“Soy argentino y volví a Sotogrande 17 años después. Por aquí me gusta ir al Chiringuito Bahía Limón, aunque me suelo mover más en torno al polo ya que es muy importante para mí, y es que mis cuatro hijos son polistas. De hecho mis nietas nacieron aquí, son andaluzas. El polo que se hace en España no es de gran calidad para mi gusto, ya que se alimenta del polo del extranjero, y pienso que este deporte en Sotogrande ha mermado mucho en los últimos años. De todas formas es un sitio fantástico para descansar y disfrutar de la familia”.

“Lo que más me gusta de Sotogrande son sus playas y el paseo del parque, que creo que es un sitio idóneo para pasear junto al mar. “What I like most about Sotogrande are its beaches and the Paseo del Parque, which I think is an ideal place to stroll by the sea. Any bar in the area is a good option, although I usually frequent the bars of the avenue of Torreguadiaro - for my tastethey are the most lively in summer. Whenever you friends come to visit I bring them to the tapas bars on the Paseo because they have a lot of variety and a good atmosphere. It is an ideal place to have fun, relax, and enjoy the beach.”

“I am Argentinian and I returned to Sotogrande 17 years ago. Here I like to go to the Bahía Limón Beach Bar, although I’m usually more in the polo environment as it is very important to me, and my four children are polo players. In fact my granddaughters were born here, they’re Andalusian. The polo in Spain is not of great quality for my tastes, as it is powered by polo from abroad, and I think that this sport in Sotogrande has diminished considerably in recent years. Anyway it is a great place to relax and enjoy time with the family.”

When friends from Bilbao come to visit me and we want to go out to party, I usually take them to Afterpolo or Chambao, and now to Soho which has just opened and I loved. If we want something more quiet we usually go to the Hairy Lemon, which is in the marina and is a lovely place and very elegant. I think that Sotogrande is a great choice to come with your friends and enjoy the beach.”

Jaime Caballero unirá a nado Sotogrande y Marbella a favor de la ELA El nadador de larga distancias prepara un recorrido de ida y vuelta (90 kms. en total), como nueva gesta para ayudar en la lucha contra esta enfermedad durante la primera semana de agosto (3, 4 ó 5, según las condiciones). 1 M. Conectar Sotogrande y Marbella, a nado, el nuevo reto para luchar contra la Esclerosis Lateral Amiotrófica (ELA). El protagonista de este desafío no es otro que el nadador de larga distancia Jaime Caballero, todo un experto en grandes gestas y que desde hace ya bastantes años se encuentra completamente inmerso en la promoción de estos eventos a través de la asociación ‘Siempre Adelante’, de la que es cofundador. En esta ocasión, el donostiarra recorrerá la distancia que separa Sotogrande y Marbella (45 kms.) a nado tanto de ida como de vuelta (con salida y regreso en Sotogrande). En total, un recorrido de 90 kms. que servirá para dotar de notoriedad y protagonismo una vez más sobre la necesidad de invertir e insistir en el estudio y erradicación de la enfermedad. Caballero aún no ha decidido oficialmente si realizará en una o dos etapas el recorrido (aproximadamente podría tardar entre 12 y 16 horas en completarlo en

cada sentido); ya que de hacerlo en dos etapas permitiría una mayor participación de público y notoriedad y además le ayudaría a tener que librar con las medusas en horario nocturno. Durante la travesía a nado estará acompañado por su piloto de referencia, su médico y el resto del equipo que se desplaza con él para este tipo de acontecimientos; además de su familia y amigos. Caballero tendrá que enfrentarse a todo tipo de obstáculos como vientos, corrientes o animales marinos como las medusas. Para este reto cuenta con diferentes entidades que colaboran con

el reto, incluido el apoyo de organizaciones como el Real Club Marítimo de Sotogrande o la Plataforma Nacional de Afectados por el ELA. Resaltar que Jaime Caballero ya sabe lo que es conseguir proezas de este tipo como la travesía entre del lago Leman (Suiza) en la que invirtió más de 22 horas. También ha ganado pruebas como el Descenso Internacional del Río Bidasoa o la Batalla de Rande que une las Islas Cíes con la isla de San Simón en Vigo. Además ha liderado numerosas citas y grandes eventos destinados a la lucha contra esta enfermedad en costas de toda España.

The star of this challenge is none other than the long-distance swimmer Jaime Caballero, a real expert at these great feats, and for years he has been completely immersed in promoting these events via the association “Siempre Adelante” (Always Forward), of which he is the co-founder. On this occasion, the man from San Sebastian will swim the distance that separates Sotogrande and Marbella (45 km), there and back again (with the departure and return point in Sotogrande). During the crossing he will be accompanied by his reference pilot, his doctor and the rest of the team that travels with him for these kinds of events; as well as his family and friends. Caballero will have to face all kinds of obstacles such as winds, currents and marine animals such as jellyfish.

For this challenge he has different entities that are collaborating with the challenge, including the support of organisations such as Real Club Marítimo de Sotogrande and the National Platform for those Affected by ALS. It is worth highlighting that Jaime Caballero already knows what it is like to achieve feats of this nature such as the crossing of Lake Geneva (Switzerland) which took him 22 hours. He has also won events such as the International Descent of the Biadosa River and the Battle of Rande, which connects the Cíes Islands with the island of San Simón in Vigo. He has also led several events and major events aimed at the battle against this illness on coastlines across all of Spain.

1 VINOPOLIS SOTOGRANDE Bodegas de la Real Divisa

Una de las bodegas productoras más antiguas de Europa Creadas allá por 1367, las Bodegas de la Real Divisa de Ábalos (Rioja) deben su nombre al emblema de la jarra con azucenas que se puede encontrar sobre el arco de entrada, un símbolo que no solo es histórico, sino que también está estrechamente relacionado con la Casa Real de Navarra. El rey García III (1035–1054) fundó la “Orden de la Terraza” (jarra) para conmemorar su encuentro con una imagen de la virgen María en una cueva. El monasterio de Santa María La Real de Nájera se construyó a continuación sobre esta cueva y se convirtió en el lugar de reposo de los reyes y reinas de Navarra. El nieto del rey García, el príncipe Ramiro, se casó con la hija del héroe medieval español El Cid y fue esta rama de la Casa Real de Navarra la que creó las Bodegas de la Real Divisa. La propiedad sigue en manos de la familia fundadora hasta hoy día. Las 40 hectáreas de la Bodega con sus viñas de más de 60 años se asienta en la base del Sonsierra, un lugar con un clima y un suelo excelentes para la producción de uvas de calidad. El 90% corresponde a Tempranillo y el 10% restante se divide entre Graciano y Mazuelo, que añaden color, brillo y finura a sus vinos, los cuales son elaborados con prácticas tradicionales combinadas con las técnicas más modernas. Todos los vinos se elaboran y envejecen en sus propias cavas tradicionales. Casa Malaparte in Capri: Sublime timelessness

Curioso, una casa hecha sin arquitecto convertida en objeto de culto para los estudiantes de arquitectura de todo el mundo. Curzio Malaparte, periodista, escritor, hijo de diplomático, preso y exiliado por el Partido Fascista Italiano, al que en un principio había apoyado. Dueño de una vida extrema, irritador profesional, intelectual complejo, construyó su propia casa en 1937 en un sitio aislado de la isla de Capri, sobre un peñón, con dibujos previos del arquitecto Adalberto Libera que después desechó. Moderna, atemporal, surrealista, severa, un macizo de ladrillos rojos fundidos con la piedra, involucrada con su maravilloso entorno, cada ventana enmarca un paisaje. Llena de simbolismo, una gran escalinata lleva a la cubierta con su “vela” como si fuera a emprender un viaje. Muchos encuentran un paralelismo con la escalinata de la catedral de San Andrés Apóstol en Amalfi, cuya pronunciada pendiente parece un camino hacia Dios. Una villa trascendente. Como curiosidad, el propio director de cine Fritz Lang se interpreta a sí mismo en uno de los roles del film. Una publicidad de perfumes UOMO también ha sido rodada en la Casa Malaparte y puede encontrarse fácilmente en YouTube. Como es de esperar, tanto su autor como la casa, una joya de la arquitectura, están vinculados a múltiples expresiones artísticas realmente interesantes. *Curzio Malaparte es autor de la novela La pelle (1949) sobre la degradante Italia de posguerra que la directora Liliana Cavani llevó al cine en 1981 con un reparto espectacular: Marcello Mastroianni,

Claudia Cardinale, Burt Lancaster, entre otros famosos actores. *En Diario di uno straniero a Parigi (Diario de un extranjero en Paris), Malaparte relata su reencuentro con amigos después de años de prisión. Con una ácida visión, mezcla de recuerdos y diálogos con escritores, cineastas, actores e intelectuales, pinta la profunda transformación que iba a cambiar Europa definitivamente.

Curzio Malaparte was a journalist and a writer, the son of a diplomat. He was imprisoned and exiled by the Italian Fascist Party, which, at first, he supported. He lived an extreme life; he was a professional agitator and a complex intellectual who built his own home in 1937. He did so in an isolated area of the island of Capri, on a crag, with prior drawings by the architect Adalberto Libera that he then discarded. Modern, timeless, surrealist, harsh; a clump of red brick blended into the stone, involved in its marvellous surroundings. Each window frames a landscape. It is filled with symbolism; a large staircase leads to the deck with a “sail” as if going on a journey like the “Annunziata” stairway of the church leads to God. This is a transcendent villa. The intellectual Jean Luc Godard, a French director, used this villa to shoot “Le Mepris” (“Contempt”) in 1963. It was a sensually and erotically charged adaptation of Alberto Moravia’s novel, starring Brigitte Bardot and Michel Piccoli. Incidentally, Fritz Lang, another cinema director, played himself in the movie. An UOMO perfumes ad was also

filmed in Casa Malaparte and it can be easily found on YouTube. As it was to be expected, both its creator and the villa –an architectural gem– are linked to multiple and interesting artistic expressions. *Curzio Malaparte wrote “La pelle” (1949), a novel about a decaying post-war Italy. The director Liliana Cavani adapted it to the cinema in 1981 with an impressive cast: Marcello Mastroianni, Claudia Cardinale, Burt Lancaster, and other famous actors. *In “Diario di uno straniero a Parigi” (“Diary of a Foreigner in Paris”), Malaparte writes about meeting with friends after years in prison. Harshly, mixing memories and dialogues with writers, cineastes, actors, and intellectuals, he depicts the transformation that would completely change Europe.

El Centro Comercial San Roque Club presenta un preocupante estado de abandono ✑ M. Gil

Un avanzado estado de abandono y todo un peligro cara a un desafortunado e inesperado fuego. El preocupante e importante estado de dejadez que presenta el tramo ﬁnal de la zona comercial de San Roque Club deja a la evidencia el descuido y la suciedad que se acumula en esta parcela, lejos de los estándares aconsejables en conservación y mantenimiento de un complejo residencial y turístico de este nivel. Uno de los grandes denunciantes de esta situación, además de vecinos y establecimientos de la zona, es la asociación Verdemar

Ecologistas en Acción Campo de Gibraltar, siempre a la vanguardia en todas estas protestas y movimientos. “La zona se encuentra abandonada entre basuras poniendo en serio riesgo al área de un posible incendio forestal”. Este espacio, en particular, se encuentra situado justo al término de la zona comercial a la entrada de San Roque Club (en que operan desde hace años reconocidos establecimientos). Concretamente, se alarga por el carril del aparcamiento (ya de tierra hasta una especie de isleta ﬁnal que se encuentra abandonada y se utiliza

como ‘rotonda’), adosado en ambos márgenes por una frondosa vegetación de matorral. Además, de numerosos desechos y basuras con todo lo que ello provoca (mal olor, animales, suciedad, riesgo de incendio, etc.). Sin duda, una cuestión a analizar y en la que tomar cartas a nivel de administración local con agilidad y prontitud. Además de sancionar todo aquello que estime oportuno.

The worrying and significant state of neglect of the final stage of the shopping area of San Roque Club clearly shows the lack of care and dirt that has built up in this plot, falling far short of

the recommended conservation and maintenance standards of a residential and tourism complex of this level. One of the major bodies complaining about this situation, in addition to residents and establishments in the area, is the association Verdemar Ecologists

in Action of Campo de Gibraltar, which is always at the forefront of all these protests and movements. “The area has been abandoned among waste, posing a serious risk to the area of a possible forest ﬁre”. This space in particular is located just at the end of the shopping

area at the entry to San Roque Club (where renowned establishments have been operating for years). Speciﬁcally, it stretches along the road of the car park (which is earth until a kind of end islet which is abandoned and used as a “roundabout”), surrounded on both sides by thick

shrub vegetation. There is also lots of rubbish and waste, with all that entails (a bad smell, animals, dirt, the risk of ﬁre, etc.). This is undoubtedly an issue for the local administration to analyse and take action swiftly and soon. They should also penalise whoever they deem culpable.

El seminario “Gibraltar y el Campo de Gibraltar ante el inicio del Brexit” contó con la presencia por el ministro principal de Gibraltar, Fabian Picardo, bajo el título “Cómo se ve hoy el Gibraltar de mañana”. Picardo agradeció esta nueva invitación a participar en el Curso de Verano de la UCA en San Roque, “donde se produce un intento de establecer un diálogo académico y humano que ayuda a entendernos mejor.” El primer ministro gibraltareño señaló que “se abre una época de oportunidades, de encontrar nuevos mercados. Después del Brexit el gobierno de Gibraltar habló con las empresas instaladas en Gibraltar, la información que aportaron es que el 92% del mercado de sus servicios está en Reino Unido, y el resto el 8% en mercados anglosajones. Por lo que lo importante es mante-

ner y continuar con el acceso al mercado británico.” Picardo resaltó que “a la vista de estos datos desaparece la importancia de permanecer en el Mercado Único Europeo y también se mitiga de esta forma, la presión ante la oferta de España de cosoberanía para permanecer en el Mercado Único”. Picardo destacó que “los trabajadores transfronterizos son parte importante del crecimiento de la economía gibraltareña. Una cifra de trabajadores transfronterizos que ha crecido, hace cinco años eran 3,400 y a día de hoy se cuentan 7,700 lo que supone un crecimiento del 78 %. Además, en los últimos seis meses, de 770 nuevos trabajadores transfronterizos registrados, 550 son españoles.” El primer ministro resaltó que “la situación actual constituye una oportunidad para crear ri-

Supercor muestra el ronqueo de un atún en directo 1 M. Gil

Supercor, uno de los establecimientos comerciales de referencia en Sotogrande, acogió el ronqueo (despiece) de un atún en directo ante la presencia de clientes y muchos curiosos, amantes de la gastronomía, atraídos por este tipo de eventos cada vez más demandados y seguidos. Una fantástica cita, de la mano de la firma Petaca Chico, especialistas en el tratamiento de esta joya gastronómica del mar. El ejemplar, un atún de nada

menos que 171 kgs. de peso, fue capturado días antes del despiece en las playas de Barbate. El atún es uno de las mayores y más exquisitos tesoros del mar que bañan las costas gaditanas. Todo un éxito el ronqueo, ejecutado por experimentados operarios de la empresa colaboradora, y que despejó las dudas de los asistentes sobre las diferentes partes y piezas de un atún, así como de la tradicional técnica del propio ronqueo.

Supercor shows live demonstration of tuna butchering Supercor, one of the top commercial establishments in Sotogrande held a tuna butchering demonstration in front of an audience of customers, lovers of gastronomic arts, and interested passers-by, drawn to this kind of increasingly popular and in-demand event. This fantastic event was offered by Petaca Chico, a seafood company who specialize in this gastronomic treat. The fish in question was a tuna

weighing no less than 171kgs, which had been caught a few days earlier off the beach at Barbate. The tuna is one of the largest and most exquisite treasures to be found in the seas off the Cádiz coast. The work, which was carried out by experts from the company, was a great success and answered spectators’ questions about the different parts of the tuna and about the traditional butchering methods themselves.

San Roque reduce el sello del coche hasta su precio mínimo ✑ M. Gil

El “sello del coche” será aún más barato en San Roque el año próximo, bajando hasta el mínimo que ﬁja la Ley, de manera que por los dos tipos de vehículos más comunes se abonará un 11% menos. Además, se incluye en esta medida la exención de pagar a personas que tengan reconocida una discapacidad mínima del 33%, según detallaron el l alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, y la teniente de alcalde delegada de Hacienda, Mónica Córdoba. Esta reducción del Impuesto de Vehículos de Tracción Mecánica (IVTM) se trata de la primera de

las rebajas ﬁscales a las que se comprometió recientemente el Equipo de Gobierno, ya que están previstos también bajadas en las tasas de cementerios y en la contribución urbana. “Por un coche de hasta doce caballos -apuntó el alcalde- se van a pagar 34,08 euros, y hasta la fecha se pagaba 38,19 euros, por lo que la reducción es de casi un 11%, siendo el tipo de vehículo más utilizado. El segundo vehículo más habitual es el que comprende de 12 a 16 caballos: de 80,53 euros se baja a 71,94 euros, lo que supone un

8,59 euros menos, una bajada también de casi un 11%. Se van a reducir todos los tipos de vehículos: camiones, autobuses, tractores, motocicletas..., pero quería poner ejemplo de los dos más habituales”. Por su parte, Mónica Córdoba explicó que “este impuesto estará boniﬁcado para las personas con discapacidad del 33%, que en ese caso no pagarían nada. Asimismo, seguimos trabajando en lo refernte a la tasa de cementerios y al IBI (Impuesto de Bienes Inmuebles o contribución urbana)”, concluyó la edil.

Nuevos avances en la unión turística entre Sotogrande y Marruecos ✑ Redacción

Representantes políticos de San Roque y de Tánger sigue trabajando de manera conjunta para fomentar el turismo en ambas zonas del Estrecho. Autoridades del Gobierno regional de dicha zona marroquí mantuvieron una reunión con el alcalde de San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, y Dolores Marchena, teniente de alcalde delegada de Turismo, acompañados por técnicos municipales. Este encuentro supone el paso previo para una serie de encuentros con agentes turísticos de San Roque. Este proyecto de desarrollo turístico tiene el objetivo de aumentar el número de turistas en ambas zonas, y aumentar la generación de oportunidades

y oferta turística. Se pretende fomentar los atractivos de la zona, como Sotogrande, y promocionarlos. En deﬁnitiva, contribuir a la unión entre las dos orillas con una ﬁnalidad claramente turística y de crecimiento económico. Este proyecto comenzó hace unos meses, en octubre, cuando representantes políticos de la zona se trasladaron a Tánger para reunirse con delegados regionales marroquíes responsables de turismo. En este momento, tienen previstos encuentros con agentes turísticos de la zona para profundizar en qué líneas de promoción y difusión se pueden llevar a cabo en Sotogrande y en otros enclaves del municipio.

Los diestros David Galván, Manuel Escribano y Curro Díaz lidiarán seis toros de Manuel Blázquez el próximo viernes 11 de agosto con motivo de la Gran Corrida de Toros de la Feria Real 2017, mientras que el jueves 10 se ofrecerá el espectáculo del Bombero Torero. El cartel fue presentado en el Espacio Joven. El Ayuntamiento de nuevo facilitará la asistencia de 400 mayores de todo el municipio, que podrán ver la corrida pagando tan sólo 5 euros. Además del alcalde, en la presentación estuvieron el concejal de Fiestas, Antonio Navas, el joven torero David Galván, y el empresario taurino Curro Escarcena. El espectáculo del Bombero Torero con sus Enanitos Toreros empezará a las 20.30 horas del jueves 10 de agosto. La entrada costará

diez euros para adultos y cinco para niños. La corrida comenzará a las 20.00 horas del viernes 11. Las entradas se podrán adquirir en el Bar Torres los días 4 y 5 de agosto de 10.30 a 14.00 horas, y a partir del día 7 en ese mismo horario de mañana y por la tarde de 19.00 a 21.00 horas. The poster was presented at the Youth Space. The Town Council will once again provide assistance for 400 adults throughout the municipality, who can see the bullfight paying just 5 euros. El inicio del mes de agosto presenta varios incidentes de tráfico en la zona 1 Manuel Gil

El último fin de semana de julio, comienzo por así decirlo del tradicional ‘agosto’ en Sotogrande trajo un par de incidentes relacionados con el tráfico en la zona. En ambos casos, los dos accidentes consistieron en el vuelco de sendos vehículos sin lamentar, afortunadamente, mayores daños que los materiales. Por un lado, en la madrugada del viernes al sábado (29 de julio), en La Marina de Sotogrande, en el tramo comprendido entre la Ribera de Tenca y la Jungla de Oro, volcó un coche deportivo, de color blanco quedando con las cuatro ruedas hacia arriba. Tras una compleja situación por la posición del vehículo, el conductor (residente en la zona), pudo salir

del coche. Hasta el lugar acudieron los servicios de emergencia y la Policía Local. Por otro, a la entrada de Torreguadiaro en la Av. Mar del Sur desde la salida de la A-7 (tras salir de la rotonda en dirección a la barriada), una furgoneta, también de color blanco, volcó a la entrada de la carretera. Sin mayores daños que los materiales también precisó de una grúa para desplazar el vehículo y de la presencia de una patrulla de la Guardia Civil. En cualquiera de los casos, precaución al volante. Son días de mucha afluencia de gente en la zona y de un mayor tráfico del habitual por lo que cualquier conducta precavida se aconseja fervientemente.

A Guardia Civil patrol was in attendance, and a tow-truck was needed in order to remove the vehicle. Care when driving is necessary at all times. With greater numbers of people and increased amounts traffic in the area at this time, caution is strongly advised.

El Bazar de la India vuelve, un año más, a su puntual cita en Sotogrande. Su tradicional mercadillo veraniego se ha convertido en uno de los eventos más tradicionales del verano. El jueves 10 de agosto, en el Club El Octógono de Sotogrande, tendrá lugar la X edición de este bazar organizado por la Fundación Esperanza y Alegría para recaudar fondos para ﬁnanciar sus proyectos en la India y en España. A lo largo de todo el día, se podrán adquirir en los distintos puestos artículos de artesanía y decoración, objetos de oro, plata y bronce, ropa, bolsos, joyas, bisutería, y todo tipo de complementos típicos de la India. Muchos de estos productos están, precisamente, elaborados en los talleres que la Fundación ﬁnancia en India para apoyar a las mujeres y promover la justicia e igualdad en un mundo, de manera tradicional, asociado a la escala de castas y con acentuadas diferencias de género.

También tendrá lugar una rifa regalos donados por empresas y colaboradores que, de esta manera, ayudan a la fundación. Entre los artículos que se sortearán se encuentran libros, productos de cosmética o gorras de la Fundación Española de Golf. La Fundación Esperanza y Alegría se creó en el año 2001. Se caracteriza por su compromiso con las personas más desfavorecidas y en situación de vulnerabilidad, sin distinción alguna de

origen, etnia, cultura o género. 10th India Bazaar returns to Sotogrande on 10 August at El Octógono The India Bazaar is back once again this year for its timely event in Sotogrande. Its traditional summer market has become one of the most traditional summer events. On Thursday 10 August, the 10th edition of the bazaar organised by the City of Hope and Joy Foundation will take place in order raise money to fund its projects in India and Spain. Throughout the day, at the diﬀerent stands it will possible to purchase craft and décor items, items of gold, silver and bronze, clothing, bags, jewels, costume jewellery, and all kids of typical

Indian accessories. Many of these products are indeed produced in the workshops that the Foundation funds in India in order to support women and promote justice and equality in a world traditionally associated with the caste system and notable differences between genders. There will also be a prize raffle with gifts donated by companies and collaborators helping the foundation in this way. Among the items to be raffled are books, cosmetic products and Spanish Golf Foundation hats. The Hope and Joy Foundation

was created in 2001. It is characterised by its commitment to the most impoverished and vulnerable people, regardless of their origins, ethnicity, culture or gender. Información sobre operaciones vinculadas Se entienden por operaciones vinculadas aquellas que se realizan entre personas (físicas o jurídicas) que guardan alguna relación entre sí. Un ejemplo podrían ser las operaciones entre la matriz de una empresa y su filial. A partir de la declaración del Impuesto sobre Sociedades de 2016, la información sobre operaciones vinculadas y operaciones con paraísos fiscales se traslada al modelo 232, que deberá presentar el próximo mes de noviembre. A partir de la declaración de 2017 se fija el plazo de presentación en el mes de Mayo. Si su empresa ha presentado el modelo del Impuesto sobre

Sociedades (IS) de 2016, habrá observado que han desaparecido varios cuadros que hasta ahora se exigían sobre operaciones vinculadas o realizadas con paraísos fiscales. Hacienda va a seguir exigiendo dicha información mediante nuevo modelo de declaración tributaria: la “Declaración informativa de operaciones vinculadas y de operaciones y situaciones relacionadas con países o territorios considerados paraísos fiscales” (modelo 232). Este modelo incluirá el resumen de operaciones vinculadas que hasta ahora aparecía en la declaración del IS. Operaciones realizadas con una misma entidad que en conjunto superen los

250.000 euros, o bien que superen los 100.000 euros y sean del mismo tipo y método de valoración. Pero, además, deberá añadir las siguientes operaciones: o Las del mismo tipo y método de valoración realizadas con la misma entidad cuyo importe conjunto supere el 50% de la cifra de negocios de la empresa. o Y también aquellas operaciones consideradas “específicas” con un importe conjunto superior a 100.000 euros (ventas de inmuebles, participaciones, etc.). Del mismo modo se traslada al modelo 232 la información relativa a el detalle de las operaciones realizadas con paraísos

fiscales así como las operaciones de cesión de intangibles realizadas con entidades vinculadas y que disfruten de la reducción del 60% aplicable en esos casos. La única información que desaparece de la declaración del IS y no se traslada al modelo 232 es el documento normalizado que aparecía en el Anexo V de la declaración del ejercicio 2015. Dicho documento podía ser empleado por las empresas de reducida dimensión para cumplir con su obligación de documentar sus operaciones vinculadas (con excepción de las operaciones consideradas “específicas”). Si su empresa es de reducida dimensión y tenía previsto utilizar dicho modelo respecto a

2016, cabe entender que podrá seguir documentando las operaciones vinculadas realizadas a partir de 2016 según el documento normalizado de 2015. An example of this might be operations carried out between a parent company and its subsidiaries. From 2016, the information supplied in corporation tax returns (the ‘Impuesto sobre Sociedades’ - IS) concerning related-party operations and operations with offshore locations will be entered via a ‘modelo 232’ declaration, which must be submitted next November. Starting in 2017,

Quirónsalud advierte sobre los efectos del sol en la vista ✑ Redacción

El verano es tiempo de sol, de playa, de piscina, de aires acondicionados, de tiempo al aire libre… y representa la época en la que tenemos que cuidar más de nuestros ojos. El doctor Victor Pérez Moreno, especialista del servicio de oftalmología de Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar, relata que “las patologías más frecuentes en verano son las conjuntivitis, bien de tipo alérgico o de tipo infeccioso por bacterias, hongos o virus (estas últimas las más frecuentes). Se maniﬁestan como enrojecimiento, picor, sensación de arenilla, sensibilidad a la luz y lagrimeo. Estas patologías representan aproximadamente un 60% de los pacientes atendidos en un servicio de urgencias oftalmológicas”. “Otras patologías frecuentes”, continúa el doctor, “son la oftalmia o fotoqueratitis, causada por la exposición conti-

nuada a la radiación solar, que como principales síntomas presenta picor, lagrimeo, intensa fotofobia e incluso disminución de la visión; y el orzuelo, que se produce por una obstrucción (por un exceso de sebo y sudor) de las glándulas situadas en el párpado, provocando una infección bacteriana aguda, y se maniﬁesta como una lesión sobreelevada dolorosa a la palpación y purulenta”. “Pero lo que no podemos olvidar es que la exposición de los ojos a la radiación ultravioleta (UV) del sol sin la protección adecuada puede provocar desde patologías oftalmológicas más banales, como una fotoqueratitis, a otras más graves que pueden acarrear un deterioro de la visión, como la catarata, la degeneración macular o melanomas coroideos, ya que estos efectos son acumulativos con el paso del tiempo”, explica

Pérez Moreno. Consejos para protegernos del sol • Es importante utilizar gafas de sol. Todos utilizamos protector solar para la piel, así que es importante no olvidarse de los ojos. Debemos usarlas con

filtros solares homologados por la CE, que permitan una protección UV del 100% (UVA y UVB) y a ser posible que sean gafas envolventes, ya que evitan la filtración por los laterales. Y mejor si son polarizadas para neutralizar los reflejos solares.

• Además de gafas, es recomendable utilizar un sombrero o gorra para aumentar la protección. • Estas medidas son incluso más importantes en bebes y niños, sobre todo en las horas de mayor incidencia solar.

El polo en Sotogrande, este verano, tendrá más música que nunca. Lo hace de la mano del Festival Sunset Valley, una propuesta que trae a las canchas de Santa María Polo Club durante la celebración del próximo Torneo Internacional de Polo dos conciertos destinados a enriquecer y potenciar la oferta de ocio y entretenimiento que complementan al polo en Sotogrande. Concretamente, serán el grupo Hombres G (fechado para el próximo sábado 5 de agosto) y Al Mckay’s

Earth Wind & Fire (el 14 de agosto) con su tributo musical a las décadas de los 60, 70 y 80, los dos platos fuertes que componen la programación de espectáculos en esta primera edición del musical. Las entradas, disponibles desde 55 euros, podrán adquirirse en el canal de venta correspondiente, concretamente a través de la página web del festival. La organización comunicó, coincidiendo con el cierre de edición de esta publicación, la cancelación “por casusas ajenas de la organización y

por conveniencia del artista” del concierto que John Newman tenía previsto ofrecer en Sotogrande el jueves 3 de agosto. Del mismo modo, explica la organización a través de un comunicado, que la “reestructuración de la programación del fin de semana obliga a variar el planteamiento inicial del programa para este verano por lo que no será posible el concierto programada de Ara Milikan para el próximo día 12”, espectáculo que tampoco se celebrará.

La Camerata de Sotogrande y su apuesta musical solidaria La Camerata de Sotogrande, colectivo que periódicamente acostumbra a organizar y celebrar diversas actividades culturales y musicales en Sotogrande, mostró su lado más solidario con la entrega de unos simbólicos cheques a representantes de dos entidades locales que han percibido la cantidad recaudada en su último evento a finales del pasado mes de junio. El acto consistió en una velada privada en la urbanización con música en directo (guitarra clásica, cuarteto de cuerda, flamenco, etc.). Concretamente, el total recaudado por la Camerata (unos 5.000 euros) fue divido a partes iguales entre la Asociación de Mayores La Milagrosa (San Enrique de Guadiaro) y el Centro Terapéutico de Montenegral (se realizó la entrega de 2.500 euros a cada asociación). El protocolario acto se llevó a cabo en los jardines de la Iglesia Nuestra Señora de la Merced de Sotogrande, y contó con presencia de integrantes de la propia Camerata de Sotogrande y de ambos colectivos obsequiados.

The organizers have also explained, in a press release, that the “rescheduling for the weekend has forced them to modify their original plans and that it will no longer be possible to hold the scheduled concert by Ara Milikan, planned for 12th August”.

Camerata of Sotogrande and its charitable music commitment The Camerata of Sotogrande, the group that periodically organises and holds different cultural and musical activities in Sotogrande, showed its most charitable side with the handing over of symbolic cheques to representatives of the two local entities that have received the funds raised at the last event, held at the end of June. The event consisted of a private evening in the resort with live music (classical guitar, a string quartet, flamenco, etc.). Specifically, the total amount raised by the Camerata (5,000 Euros) was divided equally between between La Milagrosa Association for Elderly People (San Enrique de Guadiaro) and the Montenegral Therapy Centre (2,500 Euros were awarded to each association). The official ceremony was held in the gardens of the Church of Our Lady of Mercy in Sotogrande, and was attended by members of the Camerata of Sotogrande and representatives of both the beneficiaries.

Dueñas participó previamente en un Paseo Literario por la barriada de Guadarranque, lugar que habitó durante medio siglo Fox, una de las protagonistas de su conocido libro “El tiempo entre costuras”. Dueñas recorrió los lugares más emblemáticos de la larga estancia de Rosalinda Fox en la

Beforehand, Dueñas participated in a Literary Walk around the neighbourhood of Guadarranque, the place where Fox, who is one of the main characters in her book “El tiempo entre costuras” (The Time in Between), lived for half a century. Dueñas visited the most emblematic places of Rosalinda Fox´s long stay in the area, and talked to the residents that knew her. Some of them have fond memories, although others remember aspects linked to her strong character and difficult temper. Old photographs were displayed, many of which were compiled by the writer Mariángeles Chozas, who was the guide on previous literary walks. Those attending also met the English family that currently live in the house that she lived in, and they also exhibited some mementos. María Dueñas admitted that she had been meaning to do this visit for ten years, ever since she began to discover Rosalinda Fox, and the former delegate for Culture, Juan Carlos Galindo, invited her to discover the neighbourhood at the time, although she did not get the chance.

Toda la pasión de la vela en Sotogrande se concentra este verano entre el 11 y el 13 de agosto. La XVIII edición de la Regata Copa de Sotogande celebra un año más en las aguas que bañan a la urbanización con un atractivo e intenso programa de competiciones para los amantes de la vela y el deporte náutico. Tres días llenos de emoción en el que las regatas toman el protagonismo en la urbanización con una de las citas más clásicas de la temporada estival.

Como siempre, con categorías que recogen las diferentes competiciones: cruceros, J80 y otras embarcaciones con las que la vela retomará toda su fuerza en Sotogrande. U año más, el Campeonato de Andalucía de Cruceros ORC se celebra por la delegación de la Consejería de Turismo y Deporte de la Junta de Andalucía en aguas de Sotogrande. Además, tras la celebración en los últimos dos años llega la tercera edición del Memorial An-

tonio Muñoz para catamaranes como prueba inicial. Una cita que contó con un enorme respaldo de embarcaciones locales, muchas de la propia Escuela de Vela, y de la que se espera quede instaurada como una de las regatas más esperadas del año en la zona; con el más puro sabor del Sotogrande de sus inicios con aquellos ‘Hobie cat’. Sirve al mismo timpo para homenajear a uno de los grandes impulsores de la vela en la urbanización y el Real Club Marítimo Sotogrande.

El Andalucía Valderrama Masters busca la consideración excepcional de interés público El Consistorio colabora con la emblemática entidad para convertir el gran torneo de golf del próximo otoño en un acontecimiento prioritario de mecenazgo con ventajas fiscales para las firmas colaboradoras

El Equipo de Gobierno presentará al Pleno de la Corporación la pretensión del Real Club de Golf Valderrama de que el torneo Andalucía Valderrama Masters sea considerado acontecimiento de excepcional interés público, lo que supondría beneficios fiscales para las empresas que patrocinen esta competición. El objetivo es que este reconocimiento se incluya en la Ley de Presupuestos Generales del Estado para 2018. Así lo indicó el alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, tras mantener una reunión con el director general de Valderrama, Javier Reviriego. Se analizó, además de la preparación la posibilida de que “sea declarado de interés general por parte de la Secretaría de Estado de Hacienda del Ministerio de Economía. Esto supondría que las empresas que patrocinen el torneo puedan contar con una

mejor fiscalidad”. “Nos hemos comprometido -continuó- a impulsar esta medida en un próximo pleno, y espero que alcancemos este objetivo de cara a los Presupuestos Generales del Estado de 2018. De esta manera, las empresas que quieran compartir los éxitos de Valderrama con su patrocinio también podrían conseguir una fiscalidad más favorable”. Eventos deportivos como la Universidad de Invierno de Granada 2015, la Barcelona Jumping Challenge, el Campeonato del Mundo de Patinaje Artístico Reus 2014, los Juegos del Mediterráneo 2017 o la tercera edición de la Barcelona World Race han sido consideradas actividades prioritarias de mecenazgo (o acontecimientos de excepcional interés público). cia Tributaria en su página web “las cantidades satisfechas o los gastos realizados por empresarios y profesionales que determinen su rendimiento por el Régimen de Estimación Directa, como consecuencia de convenios de colaboración empresarial en actividades de interés general celebrados con a las entidades e instituciones de la Ley 49/2002 previstas en la Ley 49/2002, tienen la consideración de gastos deducibles del rendimiento neto de la actividad económica desarrollada. No existen límites para la deducibilidad de esos gastos”. El torneo Andalucía Valderrama Masters regresa en 2017 al calendario del Circuito Europeo de golf, y se disputará del 19 al 22 de octubre. Participarán 150 jugadores profesionales del más alto nivel.

According to the same Tax Agency on its website “The amounts paid or expenses incurred by businessmen and professionals who determine their performance by the Direct Estimation System, as a result of agreements for business collaboration in general interest activities concluded with the entities and institutions of Law 49/2002 provided for in the Law 49/2002, are considered deductible expenses of the net yield to the economic activity carried out. There are no limits on the deductibility of these costs.” The Andalucia Valderrama Masters tournament returns in 2017 to the calendar of the European Golf Circuit, and will be held from 19 to 22 October. 150 professional players of the highest level will take part.

San Roque Club eleva el listón del circuito El impresionante trazado Old Course, uno de los mejores del sur de Europa, pone a prueba a los jugadores con una competitiva y exigente tercera prueba Golf de mucho nivel, exigente y de altura. El imponente recorrido Old Course de San Roque Club desafió sutilmente, a la vez que a prueba en cada hoyo, a los jugadores del Circuito Golf Sotogrande en una tercera cita del calendario regular que demandó a cada participante dar lo mejor de sí mismo para vencer al campo. Un trazado emblemático y competitivo que no permitió relajarse en ningún golpe. Por ello, felicitar tanto a todos los jugadores de la prueba como a todo el staff del campo por el maravilloso trabajo por presentar el mejore escenario y actores posibles para el evento. El centenar de jugadores fueron obsequiados a su llegada, como es habitual en cada prueba, con un picnic y un ‘Welcome Pack’ con un polo Makarthy, una toalla corporativa del club y algunos regalos más de patrocinadores y colaboradores. Destacar

la afluencia a esta prueba de participantes llegados de todos los puntos del territorio (País Vasco, Madrid, Sevilla o Almería, entre otros), señal inequívoca de la repercusión y fuerza de este circuito, único en su formato. Entretenida mañana de golf, con el ya habitual avituallamiento en el cruce de los hoyos 9-10, con degustación de bebidas de primeras marcas y un tentempié con fruta y jamón ibérico, perfecta parada a mitad de camino para recuperar fuerzas en una larga jornada deportiva. Tras el golf llegó el turno del tramo social con el cóctel y la entrega de premios y sorteo de regalos. Como siempre, la presencia del corner con bebidas Grey Goose y Bombay Sapphire alargó la velada tras el boche “oficial”. Respecto a la parte deportiva, tristemente volvió a quedar desierto el Premio Hublot de Hoyo en 1 (que consiste en un reloj) pero se reco-

noció el siempre meritorio hoyo en 1 conseguido, en este caso por Mark Robertson, en el hoyo 14. Concha Soler se llevó el Drive más largo y David Macgregor se adjudicó el Scratch. The impressive Old Course at San Roque Club is subtly challenging, while testing at each hole, the players of the Sotogrande Golf Circuit in the third event of the regular schedule which demanded the very best from each participant in order to complete the course. An iconic and competitive course where they couldn’t rest for a single stroke. Both the players and the course staff must be congratulated for their wonderful work in presenting the very best setting and stars for the event. The hundred players were presented on arrival, as is customary in each round, with a picnic and a ‘Welcome Pack’ with a Makarthy polo, a club corporate towel and gifts from sponsors and partners. It is worth noting the influx of participants from all over the

country (Basque Country, Madrid, Seville and Almeria, among others), a clear indication of the impact and strength of this circuit, unique in its format. An entertaining morning of golf, with the usual supplies at holes 9-10, with a selection of premium drinks and a snack of fruit and jamón ibérico, the perfect stop half way to regain strength in a long day of sports. After the golf it came time for the social aspect, with the cocktail reception, awarding of prizes, and raffle. As always, the presence of the corner with drinks from Grey Goose and Bombay Sapphire stretched the evening out after the “official boche”. On the sporting side, sadly the Hublot Hole in 1 Prize remained unclaimed (a watch), but the always merituous hole in 1 was achieved, in this case by Mark

Robertson, at hole 14. Concha Soler won Longest Drive and David Macgregor was awarded the Scratch. In the Ladies Category, Maria Luis Artes took first place, followed by Quiaru Sun and Teresa Mugica. In the first Men’s Category the winner was José Manuel Sainz, followed by David Cambell and Karl Eschner. Finally in the second Men’s category victory went to Brian Garcia, accompanied on the podium by Francisco Funes and Alejandro Ponce de León. The next date will take place on 9 September at Real Club de Golf in Seville. All the sponsors are once again thanked for their collaboration. Un placer saludarte de nuevo por Sotogrande, una temporada más. ¿Cómo afrontas el Torneo Internacional de Verano? Sinceramente, con muchísimas ganas. Es un lugar lindísimo para competir, los polistas lo pasamos fantásticamente bien aquí, es un sitio muy bonito, con unas canchas espectaculares, torneo competitivos, equipos buenos con alto nivel. Así que me encuentro muy feliz de volver a Sotogrande un verano más. Tengo muchas ganas de jugar la temporada. Y con ganas de levantar una Copa… Si, si, por supuesto. Hace años que se viene resistiendo. Este

se encuentra hasta que se mide con otros, ¿cierto? Claro, por supuesto. Este año equipos buenos y jugadores fantásticos que van a poner a vender los partidos muy caros. Ayala se proclama campeón de la Copa de Bronce Royal Bliss ✑ Álvaro López

Ayala Polo Team se proclamó vencedor de la Copa de Bronce Royal Bliss (alto hándicap) del 46º Torneo Internacional de Polo. El partido lo disputó contra Brunei Polo Team. Ha tenido lugar en Los Pinos, en Santa María Polo Club. El equipo vencedor estaba integrado por el patrón Iñigo Zobel, Mariano González (hijo), Santiago Laborde y Facundo Pieres. El encuentro fue muy disputado, especialmente en los cuatro primeros tiempos. Sin embargo, al ﬁnal del cuarto Ayala arrancó una importanta ventaja. En el quinto chukker Brunei redujo levemente la distancia, y se puso a sólo tres puntos por debajo. Un precioso gol de espaldas a la portería del Ayala Polo

Team no desmoralizó a Brunei, que llegó al sexto chukker con esa corta ventaja. Sin embargo, el último chukker, a pesar de que hubo varias claras oportunidades para ambos equipos, terminó sin ningún tanto nuevo. El resultado ﬁnal fue de 11 a 8 para Ayala. Restuarante La Quinta se hace con el Campeonato de España de Polo Femenino en Sotogrande ✑ Álvaro López

El equipo Restaurante La Quinta conformado por las jugadoras Katie McKinney, Alicia Gariador, Clara Cassino y Eva Bruhl ha ganado el Campeonato de España de Polo Femenino, celebrado en el Santa María Polo Club de Sotogrande entre los días 21 y 23 de julio. En la ﬁnal se midió con el Club Marítimo Hotel Sotogrande, que vistió camiseta blanca, equipo integrado por Raya Sidorenko, Clara Álvarez, Lia Salvo (estrella de 9 de hándicap) y Zhana Bandurko. El partido estuvo muy nivelado, aunque el Club Marítimo comenzó adelantándose en el primer chukker, donde se impuso por uno a cero. En el segundo chukker, Club Marítimo parecía sentenciar el partido, ya que marcó otros dos tantos, por sólo uno de La Quinta. Con este marcador de 3 ½ a 1 para el Club Marítimo comenzó el tercer chukker, donde La Quinta pudo romper

la buena defensa de su rival, y consiguió remontar el marcador. El último chukker comenzó con ventaja de medio punto de La Quinta sobre el Club Marítimo, y durante ese último tiempo ambos equipos anotaron un tanto adicional, por lo que el resultado ﬁnal quedó como un ajustado 5 a 4 ½ para La Quinta. El partido fue de un altísimo nivel, algo esperado debido a la calidad de las jugadoras y de la relevancia de la cita. Entre el público animó durante todo el encuentro, muy implicado en el juego. Entre él se encontraban numerosos aﬁcionados al deporte, algunos rostros conocidos de la urbanización y, también, responsables políticos, como el alcalde de San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix. Restaurante La Quinta wins Spanish Women’s Polo Championship in Sotogrande For the third consecutive year the event attracts the ﬁnest international players The team Restaurante La Quinta, made up of players Katie McKinney, Alicia Gariador, Clara Cassino and Eva Bruhl, have won the Spanish Women’s Polo Championship, held at Santa María Polo Club in Sotogrande from 21 - 23 July. The ﬁnal was against Club Maritimo Hotel Sotogrande, dressed in white, with the team made up of Raya Sidorenko, Clara Álvarez, Lia Salvo (9 goal handicap star) and Zhana Bandurko.

The match was very balanced, though Club Maritimo started ahead in the ﬁrst chukker, making it one to zero. In the second chukker, Club Maritimo seemed to be clinching the match, with another two goals compared to just one for La Quinta. With the score at 3 ½ to 1 for Club Maritimo the third chukker began, where the La Quinta was able to break through good defense of their rival, and managed to move up the

scoreboard. The ﬁnal chukker began with a half point advantage to La Quinta over Club Maritimo, and during this time both teams scored further, leading to an end result of a tight 5 to 4 ½ for La Quinta. The level of play was incredibly high, something to be expected due to the quality of the players and the importance of the event. The mood of the spectators was high throughout the match, ge-

tting very involved in the game. Among them were many sports fans, some well known faces in the resort, and politicians, such as the mayor of San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix. Ruiz Boix was responsible for awarding the prizes to the winning team. El Club de Fútbol Atlético de Madrid y el Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande llevan a cabo de manera conjunto un campamento de fútbol cuyos entrenamientos se están desarrollando, cada mañana, en el campo de fútbol municipal “Manolo Mesa”, de San Roque. Cerca de cuarenta jugadores de 8 a 17 años están participando en este campus, donde tienen la oportunidad de conocer y practicar la rutina de un jugador profesional de fútbol, de la mano de La Academia del Atlético de Madrid. El responsable del Proyecto Wanda y entrenador del campamento, Miguel Ángel Martínez, desgranó las líneas básicas que

se desarrollan en las tres semanas, del 16 de julio al 5 de agosto, que dura el campamento. Martínez también destacó que el campamento se desarrolla en un ambiente dónde el trabajo en equipo, la humildad, el esfuerzo, la pasión y el espíritu de lucha están muy presentes y que el programa ofrece la oportunidad a muchos niños de realizar una experiencia educativa y formativa única, entrenando y recibiendo también charlas y formación técnica.

the three weeks, from 16 July to 5 August, that the camp lasts for. Martínez also highlighted that the camp is taking place in an environment where team work, humility, effort, passion and a fighting

spirit are very present and that the program offers many children the chance to have a unique educational and training experience, by training and also getting talks and technical training.

The winner of the competition was María Vega Serrano. The tournament recognises the importance of working together to promote the sport, along with the municipal school, which is very important for the whole of Valle del Guadiaro; it also pays tribute to one of the most important and significant figures in the history of golf in Sotogrande.

Álvaro Gómez de Linares y Daryl James se hicieron con la victoria en la jornada ﬁnal del Gran Premio Alevín y Benjamín del Club de Golf La Cañada, en el que participaron más de 70 jugadores menores de 14 años. La prueba se disputó a 36 hoyos para los alevines, y a 18 para los benjamines, en dos jornadas consecutivas. En categoría alevín, el malagueño federado por Lauro Golf, Álvaro Gómez de Linares, mantuvo durante la segun-

Armando Palma explicó que “hoy juegan doce equipos benjamines, pero el torneo comenzó el jueves y mañana do-

mingo será el turno de los más pequeños, los Bebés, de cuatro y cinco años. En cuanto a los equipos, hay algunos formados por niños que todos los años se juntan en la playa, mientras que también hay otros que pertenecen a clubes. De hecho, hemos tenido que dejar veinte equipos fuera, y el año que viene alargaremos el torneo un día más para que puedan jugar más equipos”.
