La celebración del Andalucía Valderrama Masters, torneo perteneciente al Circuito Europeo, posiciona a la urbanización en el gran escaparate del golf internacional. Se espera una aﬂuencia de más de 50.000 visitantes durante la competición, dotada con dos millones de euros en premios.

El regreso del European Tour al histórico trazado supone un impulso en la actividad socio-económica de Sotogrande de más de cinco millones de euros de impacto directo. El evento se traduce en unos datos de consumo en el sector hotelero y de servicios, propios de temporada alta. El evento, con una duración mínima de cinco años en Valderrama, catapulta la actividad comercial y empresarial durante el último trimestre del ejercicio en la zona.

Sotogrande becomes the golf capital Holding the Andalucía Valderrama Masters, a tournament that is part of the European Circuit, positions the resort as a great showcase for international golf. Crowds of over 50,000 visitors are expected during the competition, which has two million Euros of prize money.

The return of the European Tour to the historic course is a boost to the socio-economic activity in Sotogrande with a direct impact of more than five million Euros. The event results in consumption figures in the hotel and service sector normally only seen in the high season. The event, which will last for a minimum of five years at Valderrama, will cause a real rise in commercial and business activity during the last quarter of the year in the area.

Muchas veces se buscan mil formas y estilos para definir algo o tratar de posicionar palabras que lleven a imaginar el sentido y significado del concepto que se trata de explicar. Detallar cosas visibles a los ojos de cualquier paisano parece, al mismo tiempo, casi inútil cuando los datos hablar por sí solo en muchas ocasiones y las evidencias son palpables. Tal es el caso de la ruptura de la estacionalización en la actividad turística y comercial de un destino, en este caso: Sotogrande. El próximo 14 de noviembre se llevará a cabo la novena edición del Foro Empresarial que organiza esta casa (encontrarán más información en la página 17). Una ventana al marco empresarial, económico, social y político del destino Sotogrande para analizar las diferentes preocupaciones, fortalezas y debilidades que este productivo área financiero genera. Si se echa la vista atrás, las conclusiones en sus diferentes

ediciones son cuando menos parecidas: cooperación entre el tejido empresarial y vías de ruptura con la estacionalidad de la actividad (especialmente centrada en la temporada estival). Sobre ese eje girará la próxima edición del foro y cualquier debate es productivo pero en ocasiones, como se fabulaba en el primer párrafo de este editorial, los datos hablan por sí solos y no necesitas de presentaciones ni elocuentes introducciones. Often we seek a thousand different ways and styles to define something or try to position words in a way that leads one to imagine the sense and meaning of the concept for which an explanation is sought. At the same time, detailing things visible to any civilian seems almost pointless when the figures often speak for themselves and the evidence is very clear. Such is the case of the break away from seasonal tourism and commercial activity in a destination, in this case: Sotogrande. On 14 November the ninth edition of the Business Forum that this house organises will take place (you can find further information on page 17). This is a showcase for the business, economic, social and political framework of the Sotogrande destination in order to analyse the different concerns, strengths and weaknesses that this productive financial area generates. If we look back, the conclusions reached at the

different editions are at the very least similar: cooperation between the business community and paths to break away from the seasonal nature of activity (especially focused on the summer season). This will provide the main theme of the next edition of the forum and any debate is productive, but at times, as outlined in the first paragraph of this editorial, the figures speak for themselves and you do not need presentations or eloquent introductions. The strength (more than two million Euros of prizes in its first year) and long-term nature (to begin it is signed up to last for at least five autumns); of Real Club Valderrama in bringing a great sports event during the last quarter of the year resolves uncertainties in a very positive way over the perennial doubt of “what would happen if...” The figures are there: a direct economic impact of

more than 5 million Euros, advertising revenue of more than 50, more than fifty professional media outlets accredited, more than 50,000 visitors over the course of these days at the iconic golf course, specific jobs, consumption of services, etc. The list is endless and the event benefits everyone, or almost everyone. Often the answer is contained within the answer. Why do it? Because it is worthwhile and benefits everyone. We need more Andalucía Valderrama Masters in the other sectors operating in the area. The result or expectations created show that it is not so difficult to find the secret formula to turn Sotogrande into a benchmark destination, with quality and life all 12 months of the year. Sometimes it will be golf, others polo, others sailing, and we use our imagination, it could be culture, fairs and everything that could contribute something. Vuelve el golf, vuelve la ilusión Cuando se hacen las cosas bien, normalmente, se desencadenan de manera simultánea otros acontecimientos paralelos de positiva factura y de ello, sólo se podemos congratularnos. Es indudable que la celebración durante este año (y al menos así seguirá siendo durante ✑ José Luis García el próximo lustro) del Editor/Director Andalucía Valderrama jlgarcia@grupohcp.com Masters despierta en la zona indudables efectos positivos que repercuten de manera sustancial en el crecimiento y actividad socio-económica del entorno y destino Sotogrande. Los datos están ahí, poco más hay que añadir (echen un vistazo a nuestro Informe, a partir de la página 18 del periódico que tiene en sus manos). Además, despierta el interés y la promoción de nuevas acciones, en nuestra misma casa lo hemos comprobado de primera mano con la edición de un cuadernillo especial dedicado al torneo en estas mismas páginas. Con cifras muy prometedoras y resultados al alcance de la vista, se deduce claramente el regreso de la ilusión plasmada en todo lo que rodea a un gran evento deportivo, en este caso, vinculado a

un sector que despierta tanto interés como es el golf; no hay más que ver la trascendencia de toda esta promoción para un destino fuertemente influenciado por el turismo deportivo de alto nivel, principalmente ligado al golf. Con todo preparado y dispuesto, buena parte del tejido empresarial local se encuentra en estos días expectante por ver qué deparará esta nueva etapa para el desarrollo de su actividad comercial y económica, algo que a todos luces proyecta un gran aliciente y repunte durante el último trimestre del ejercicio. Pero también clarea la necesidad de una mayor implicación de este propio sector con las acciones y eventos que toman lugar. Hablando en términos futbolísticos, dejar de esperar defensivamente y jugar al contragolpe para tomar las riendas de jugadas ofensivas. Es decir, más que esperar réditos, dar el paso y ser promotores. Atravesamos unas circunstancias en las que prácticamente todas las eventualidades que se preparan con un elocuente grado de profesionalidad, rigor y fundamento terminan cuajando de buen grado en la zona. Así ha sido en los últimos años con las citas vinculadas al golf, polo o incluso ferias gastronómicas que pese a ser bien acogidas por la masa social luego, con los años, han quedado huérfanas de respaldo institucional y, de manera predomintante, empresarial (salvando algunos nombres propios, que todos conocemos, que llevan años comprometidos con un desarrollo importante de Sotogrande como destino único en Europa). Es un buen momento para la unión y cooperación empresarial

para seguir buscando métodos y fórmulas que hagan crecer a Sotogrande, alargando su actividad turística y eventos de gran atractivo social, más allá de la clásica temporada estival. El Andalucía Valderrama Masters es una buena prueba de ello con su gran ventana de aire nuevo que ha despertado para el tramo final del año. ¿Por qué no? Invierno y primavera guardan aún un enorme potencial en Sotogrande a desarrollar y es el momento en el que los empresarios deben apoyar a los promotores de eventos y acontecimientos de relevancia en la zona. Hay que pasar al ataque. Si esperamos a que las administraciones e instituciones públicas sean las que den el paso volveremos a estancarnos. Hay que aprovechar la dinámica positiva para seguir enriqueciendo Sotogrande todo el año. Entre otras cosas, en ello se basará de manera predominante la novena edición del Foro Empresarial Grupo HCP, en el que ya trabajamos y que se celebrará el próximo 14 de noviembre en el Hotel Almenara. Una cita tradicional ya cada otoño y que sirve para tomar el pulso a la realidad socio-económica de la zona con la asistencia y participación de los principales agentes empresariales de Sotogrande y su área de influencia. No pierda detalle en los próximos días. Todo indica que será un otoño de gratas sorpresas en Sotogrande. Golf returns, excitement returns When things are done well, they normally trigger other parallel events that have a positive impact, and for that, we can only congratulate ourselves. There is no doubt that the holding the Andalucía Valderrama Masters this year (and at least over the next five years) has created clear positive effects that have a significant impact on the growth and socio-economic activity of the area and the Sotogrande destination. The figures are there, there is little more to add (have a look at our Report, on page 18 of the newspaper that you have in your hands). Also, it arouses interest and the promotion of new actions, in our case we have seen this first-hand with the publication of a special booklet devoted to the tournament in these pages.

something which clearly has a great appeal and oﬀers an upturn during the last quarter of the year. However, it also clearly shows up the need to have greater involvement from this sector with the initiatives and events that are taking place. Talking in football terms, we need to stop waiting defensively and go on the counter-attack in order to take the reins of attacking play. That is to say, instead of waiting for revenue, we need to take the step forward and be promoters.

With very promising ﬁgures and results that can be seen, we can very clearly feel that excitement is back with everything that surrounds a great sporting event, in this case, one linked to a sector that arouses so much interest; golf. One only needs to see the impact of all this promotion for a destination that is strongly inﬂuenced by top-level sporting tourism, mainly linked to golf.

We are going through circumstances where practically all the possibilities that are prepared with a high level of professionalism, rigour and substance largely end up coming to fruition in the area. This has been the case over the last few years with the events linked to golf, polo and even gastronomic fairs which despite being warmly welcomed by the public, have lacked institutional support over the years, and notably, business support (aside from some big names, that we all know, who have spent years committed to important development of Sotogrande as a unique destination in Europe).

With everything prepared and ready, a large part of the business community is expectant as it waits to see what this new stage will mean for the development of its commercial and economic activity,

It is a good time to have united and cooperative businesses in order to keep looking for methods and formulas that make Sotogrande grow, by extending its tourism activity and events with a great

social appeal, beyond the classic summer season. The Andalucía Valderrama Masters is a good example of this with its big window for fresh air created for the final stretch of the year. Why not? Winter and spring still have enormous potential to be developed in Sotogrande and now is the time that business people need to support events promoters and significant events in the area. We need to go on the attack. If we wait for administrations and public administrations to be those that take the step forward, we will stagnate again. We need to take advantage of the positive dynamic in order to keep enriching Sotogrande throughout the year. Among other things, this will be the main theme of the ninth edition of the Grupo HCP Business Forum, that we are already working on and that will take place on 14 November at Hotel Almenara. This is now a traditional event each autumn and it is chance to evaluate the socio-economic reality of the area with the attendance and participation of the main business agents in Sotogrande and its area of influence. Desde primera hora del lunes, 2 de octubre, operarios y maquinaria ya trabajaban en la rehabilitación y reasfaltado de la vía. Una demanda ciudadana de años, reclamada formalmente tanto por el Ayuntamiento de San Roque como de la EUC Parques de Sotogrande; así como por plataformas vecinales o propiamente, este medio de comunicación que lleva denunciando el estado de las vías desde antes del año 2013. Respecto a los diferentes estable-

paper reported. The works, which fortunately only led to a partial closure of traffic on the service road (as it was possible to carry out the surface by lane); the work lasted a maximum of three or four days. From the early hours of Monday 2 October, operators and

machinery were already working on renovating and resurfacing the road. This has been a civic demand for years, and was formally called for by both the Council of San Roque and the UCE for the Parks of Sotogrande; as well as via resident platforms and indeed this news-

paper which has been denouncing the state of the roads since 2013. With regard to the different commercial establishments and shopping centres that are located on that side of the A-7 maintained their corresponding timetables and offered their ser-

vices to the public, as the service road was not completely closed off to traffic. However, as the Urban Conservation Entity for the Parks of Sotogrande already announced, a plan with alternatives prepared was established in case it was necessary to cut the traffic.

Aunque satisfecho, reconoce que “son muchas otras las que quedan pendiente, entre ellas la autorización de una actuación que queremos realizar desde el Ayuntamiento, de la comunicación peatonal de la barriada de Pueblo Nuevo con la zona de actividad comercial”. “Sabemos que son muchos los vecinos que acuden al centro andando, no con vehículos, y que tienen muchas dificultades por las vaguadas porque no está habilitado un paso peatonal entre la barriada de Pueblo Nuevo y esta zona comercial”, indicó el alcalde. Recordó que estamos “pendientes de conocer esa autorización y aunque dieron el visto bueno verbalmente, estamos pendiente de que por fin podamos comenzar esa actividad que redundará en una mayor seguridad y comodidad para los vecinos”.

Verdemar abre la bocana del Guadiaro para evitar su asfixia

Verdemar opens mouth of Guadiaro in order to prevent suffocation

Miembros del grupo Verdemar Ecologistas en Acción despejaron de forma manual la bocana del río Guadiaro ante lo que califican de “impasividad de las administraciones competentes”, para evitar un mayor desastre ambiental. Esta acción se produce tras varios episodios de cierre de la desembocadura durante este verano. Una veintena de miembros consiguieron que el río Guadiaro conectase con el mar y así evitar la muerte de un río por eutrofización como consecuencia de la erosión antrópica, tras aproximadamente 60 días de cierre de la bocana.

Members of the group Verdemar Ecologists in Action manually cleared the mouth of the Guadiaro River faced with what they call the “impassive attitude of competent administrations”, in order to avoid a worse environmental disaster. This action took place after several episodes where the mouth closed over this summer. Twenty members managed to connect up the Guadiaro river with the sea and thus prevent the death of a river by eutrophication as a consequence of anthropic erosion, after the mouth was closed for approximately 60 days.

La Subdelegación del Gobierno dio a conocer a través de una nota, el informe que recoge las competencias entre administraciones por el caso de la desembocadura del río Guadiaro y los problemas de índole medioambiental que periódicamente se suceden en su estuario por cerrarse y no haber flujo de agua, atribuyendo a la Junta de Andalucía la responsabilidad de actuar. El informe, según recogen diferentes agencias también, considera que aperturar la desembocadura no es competencia estatal “puesto que no se trata de una obra de interés general que persiga restablecer las características de la zona protegida como consecuencia de una alteración artificial o acontecida por un suceso extraordinario”, sino que se trata de proteger la fauna piscícola amenazada “por una evolución natural de las aguas y de las corrientes marinas y fluviales”. Además, afirma que la protección de las especies situadas en las zonas incluidas en la Red Natura 2000 situadas en Anda-

lucía “corresponde en exclusiva a la Junta de Andalucía, salvo aquéllas situadas en zonas exclusivamente marinas”, que no es este caso, “al encontrarse en una zona fluvial”. El subdelegado del Gobierno en Cádiz, Agustín Muñoz, manifestó que dicho informe “no sólo ratifica las tesis que desde la Demarcación de Costas de Andalucía-Atlántico y desde esta Subdelegación se ha mantenido históricamente sobre este problema medioambiental, sino que pasa directamente a situar la responsabilidad de cualquier problema de esa índole en el estuario del Guadiaro a la administración que hasta ahora ha hecho oídos sordos, que no es otra que la Junta”.

Muñoz subrayó que “ya denunciamos en su momento la última pantomima que Ruiz Boix organizó en septiembre pasado con una supuesta reunión de trabajo entre administraciones y que sólo le sirvió para atacar una vez más al Gobierno de España”. “Ahora, con un informe de la Abogacía del Estado que dice con rotundidad y sin ningún género de dudas quién debe actuar en el estuario, a ver qué actitud mantiene Ruiz Boix, a quién exige responsabilidades y habrá que ver si será capaz de ponerse delante de los sanroqueños y pedir perdón por todo este tiempo perdido y que él sólo lo ha empleado en jugar con los intereses medioambientales de su municipio”.

The State´s Legal Counsel appoints Regional Government as responsible for opening mouth of Guadiaro River The Government´s Sub-delegation revealed via a statement, the report outlining the competences between administrations for the case of the Guadiaro River mouth and the problems of an environmental nature that periodically occur in its estuary when it closes over and there is no water flow, and attributed responsibility for acting to the Regional Government of Andalusia. The report, as also outlined by different agencies, considers that opening the mouth is not a state responsibility “given that it is not a work of general interest aimed at re-establishing the characteristics of the protected area as the result of an artificial change or one that has occurred due to an extraordinary event”, but rather it is about protecting threatened fish fauna “due to

a natural evolution of the waters and marine and river currents”. Also, it states that the protection of species located in the areas included in the Natura 2000 Network located in Andalusia “exclusively corresponds to the Regional Government of Andalusia, except those located in exclusively marine areas”, which is not this case, “as it is located in a river area”. The sub-delegate for the Government in Cádiz, Agustín Muñoz, outlined that this report “not only ratifies the theses that the Coastal Demarcation Department of Andalusia-Atlantic and the Delegation have historically maintained regarding these environmental problem, but rather that it directly places the responsibility for any problem of this nature in the Guadiaro estuary on the

Pago Florentino Un vino de Pago con identidad propia La clasificación “Vino de Pago” es la clasificación de mayor calidad entre los vinos españoles. Los vinos de esta denominación, que han demostrado una trayectoria de calidad consistente, deben elaborarse a partir de uva cultivada en la misma finca en la que se encuentra la bodega en la que dicha uva se va a procesar y envejecer. A diferencia de la Denominación de Origen (DO) y de la Denominación de Origen Calificada (DOCa), que se aplican a toda una zona vitícola, la clasificación Vino de Pago se aplica a viñedos o parcelas individuales. Se introdujo en 2003 y actualmente, en España hay 15 vinos de pago. Pago Florentino se elabora en Castilla-La Mancha, concretamente en la Finca La Solana, fundada por Florentino Arzuaga en la famosa Ribera del Duero. La bodega está rodeada por un viñedo 100 % cencibel (tempranillo) situado en la zona principal, a los pies de una colina, protegido del norte por una sierra y encarado al sur, mirando a dos lagunas naturales. La uva se recoge manualmente y se selecciona cuidadosamente antes de pasar a la maceración en frío. La fermentación maloláctica se produce en barricas de roble nuevas, y la crianza, un proceso que dura aproximadamente 12 meses, en barricas de roble francés y americano. Un vino perfecto para los platos otoñales como los estofados. Potente pero aterciopelado, con toques de frutas negras envueltas por notas balsámicas y ahumadas.

¿Qué hacemos con Cataluña? Estimados lectores: Hemos estado ausentes de estas páginas durante algún tiempo debido o una reorganización interna que hemos efectuado en el despacho de abogados con objeto de abrir un nuevo bufete en Madrid a cargo de mi hija Paula que se ha independizado después de trabajar varios años en el despacho de Cuatrecasas. Por otra par1 Luis Babiano te, mi otra hija Marta, dejó su Abogados / Lawyers trabajo en la asesoría jurídica Sotogrande de Barclays en Londres para incorporarse también a Babiano Abogados. Todos estos cambios me han impedido tener el tiempo suficiente para estar con todos ustedes aunque a partir de ahora volvemos a estar en contacto. Y dado que mi vuelta a estas páginas coincide con la crisis catalana hablaremos de ella. Comencé a escribir este artículo un martes 3 de octubre después de asistir al bochornoso espectáculo acaecido en Barcelona el pasado domingo y mientras dura una huelga general en Cataluña para “solicitar la democracia”. Tengo que reconocer que mi primera reacción fue pensar que estos acontecimientos habían dejado en estado de choque al Gobierno. Sin embargo hoy, a 7 de octubre, y reflexionando ya en frío, creo que el Gobierno lo está haciendo magníficamente bien y me explicaré. Resulta claro que la línea escogida por los políticos independentistas catalanes conduce a Cataluña al abismo y la política del Gobierno es muy simple: dejemos que Cataluña caiga en el abismo. Es una bonita manera de, en primer lugar, dejar en el más completo de los ridículos a estos políticos pachangueros y, en segundo lugar, demostrar a todo el mundo (incluso a los nacionalistas más recalcitrantes) que con la vía independentista en contra de España únicamente van a encontrar la ruina. Porque la declaración unilateral de independencia que pretenden va a ser en todos los casos una declaración retórica que no van a poder poner en práctica (el pobre de Mas -- como lo denomina brillantemente un famo-

so articulista-- ya ha declarado que Cataluña no está preparada). Porque ¿Se imaginan ustedes al Ejército español abandonando voluntariamente el espacio catalán? ¿Creen ustedes que los funcionarios de Hacienda van a dejar sus puestos y ordenadores al primero que venga? ¿Realmente alguien piensa que se va a dejar en manos de estos políticos pachangueros las infraestructuras que hacen funcionar la Comunidad Autónoma? ¿Es que ahora los Jueces se van a ir de sus despachos catalanes voluntariamente para dejar entrar a los nombrados por estos pachangueros? ¿Es que van a levantar una Aduana como la de Gibraltar? En consecuencia, no existe una real preocupación (más allá de los símbolos y emociones de cada uno) de que Cataluña se independice efectivamente de España. Lo que sí ocurrirá es que el mundo empezará a darse cuenta de que todo el “ruido” formado por los políticos pachangueros catalanes es un puro engaño que no tiene nada que ver con la realidad. Y esto ya ha comenzado de la manera que más les puede doler: perdiendo centenas de millones de euros de la forma más sencilla. El mero hecho del cambio de los domicilios sociales de las grandes empresas catalanas, que parece algo fútil, implica que tales empresas van a dejar de pagar sus impuestos en Cataluña pasando a ingresarlos en las diferentes localizaciones donde han ubicado sus nuevos domicilios sociales. ¡Y esto no ha hecho más que empezar! Seguirán Seat, Toyota, Sony, Volkswagen, etc. Por tanto, lo inteligente es seguirlos empujando hacia el abismo donde terminarán cayendo a no ser que retiren la declaración unilateral de independencia lo que les supondrá el mayor y espantoso de los ridículos que se hayan podido hacer en el mundo en los últimos años. Hasta cierto punto, sería muy conveniente para España que estos pachangueros siguieran adelante y se arrojaran voluntariamente al abismo. Creo que sería la mejor vacuna para este nacionalismo trasnochado y medieval ya que la gente se daría cuenta de la locura que ello supone. La demostración empírica de que lo que pretenden estos estúpidos políticos catalanes es realmente una pachanga, no va a tardar muchos días en producirse una vez que se realice la declaración de independencia. De ahí que sería conveniente dejarlos freírse durante algunos días. Y una vez que hubiera quedado claro que nada de lo prometido era cierto, habría que pasar a la acción pero no antes. Demostrada en la práctica la utopía de la independencia catalana, sería el momento de la aplicación del artículo 155 de la Constitución y, posi-

blemente, la declaración del estado de excepción. Mediante el primero se inhabilitaría a todo el gobierno de la Generalidad y la Comunidad Autónoma catalana pasaría a ser administrada por el Gobierno central. El estado de excepción regulado en la Ley Orgánica 4/1981 permitiría poner cierto orden en la administración catalana (alguna de las medidas previstas en dicha Ley son suspender todo tipo de publicaciones, emisiones de radio y televisión; suspensión del cargo de funcionario o personal público que favoreciese con su conducta la actuación de los elementos perturbadores del orden, etc.). Y junto con todo lo anterior, iniciar los correspondientes procedimientos penales contra todas las personas implicadas en la pachanga una vez ya destituidos de sus cargos conforme al artículo 155 y sin posibilidad de hacer más daño a nadie. La aplicación del artículo 155 de la Constitución debería realizarse durante el tiempo suficiente para que los Tribunales de Justicia (siempre lentos aunque siempre llegan) pudieran empezar a aplicar la ley a todos estos pachangueros. El resultado por tanto sería que se habrá demostrado la utopía de una Cataluña independiente y que quien no respeta la ley sufre las consecuencias previstas en la ley. Es por ello que he manifestado al principio de mi artículo que creo que el Gobierno lo está haciendo magníficamente bien y ello explicaría la “tranquilidad” con la que se lo está tomando el Presidente del Gobierno. Finalmente, y una vez restablecida la normalidad, sería urgentísimo reformar por un lado la Ley Electoral para que la representación de las Comunidades con gobiernos nacionalistas en el Congreso de los Diputados fuera reducida a sus justos términos y, por otro, reformar la Constitución para, entre otros temas, establecer como competencia exclusiva del Estado la educación. Es indubitado que el germen nacionalista se ha creado en las escuelas a través de una tergiversación de la historia común, creando un “sentimiento” catalán basado en sensaciones más que en hechos. Este sentimiento se ha ido creando desde la más tierna infancia y frente al mismo no se puede hacer prácticamente nada. Una persona se siente nacionalista o no en base a la educación recibida y a las “directrices” pedagógicas que le puedan haber inculcado. Este sentimiento es difícil que cambie en la edad adulta. De ahí que entienda que el primer problema a resolver en la crisis catalana sea el educativo mediante la “imposición” en la Constitución de la obligación de crear una conciencia nacional.

What do we do with Catalonia? Dear readers: We have been absent from these pages for some time due to an internal reorganisation that we have carried out at the law office with the aim of opening a new office in Madrid run by my daughter Paula who has gone independent after working for several years at the Cuatrecasas office. On the other hand, my other daughter Marta, left her job at the Barclays legal consultancy in London in order to also join Babiano Abogados. All of these changes have prevented me from having enough time to be with you all although from now on we will be in touch again. And, given that my return to these pages coincides with the Catalan crisis, we will talk about it. I began writing this article on Tuesday 3 October after witnessing the shameful spectacle that took place in Barcelona on Sunday and while a general strike was taking place in Catalonia in order to “request democracy. I have to admit that my first reaction was to think that these events had left the Government in a state of shock. However, now on the 7 October, and thinking calmly, I think that the government is doing a magnificent job and let me explain this. It is clear that the line chosen by the pro-independence Catalan politicians leads Catalonia to the abyss and the Government´s policy is very simple: let´s allow Catalonia to fall into the abyss. It is a nice way to, firstly, really let these rowdy politicians make a fool of themselves and, secondly, to show everyone (even the most recalcitrant nationalists) that with the route of independence against Spain, they are only going to find devastation. Because the unilateral declaration of independence that they aim for will in any case be a rhetorical declaration that they will not be able to put into practice (poor Mas ---as a famous columnist has brilliantly called him-- has already declared that Catalonia is not prepared). As, can you imagine the Spanish army voluntarily leaving the Catalan territory? Do you think that the Treasury civil servants are going to give up their jobs and computers to the first person to turn up? Does anyone really think that the infrastructures that make the Autonomous Community work will be left in the hands of these rowdy politicians? Are the Judges going to leave their Catalan offices voluntarily in order to allow those appointed by these noisy politicians to enter? Are they going to set up

customs like in Gibraltar? Consequently, there is no real concern (beyond the symbols and emotions of each person) that Catalonia will effectively gain independence from Spain. What will indeed happen is that the world will begin to realise that all the “noise” created by the rowdy Catalan politicians is a completely deception that has nothing to do with reality. And this has already begun in the way that can hurt them most: by losing millions of Euros in the most straightforward manner. The mere fact of large Catalan companies changing their headquarters, which seems like something futile, means that those companies will stop paying their taxes in Catalonia and will begin to pay them in different locations where they have located their new headquarters. And this has only just begun! Seat, Toyota, Sony, Volkswagen, etc. will follow. Therefore, the intelligent thing is to keep pushing them towards the abyss where they will end up falling unless they withdraw the unilateral declaration of independence which will be the greatest and scariest of the ridiculous things they have done to the world over the last few years. To a certain extent, it would be very convenient for Spain to allow these rowdy politicians to carry on and voluntarily throw themselves into the abyss. I think that this would be the best vaccine for this outdated and medieval nationalism and the people would realise how crazy it is. Empirical evidence showing that what these stupid Catalan politicians are aiming at is a mess, will not take many days to emerge once the declaration of independence is made. Hence, it would be advisable to let them fry for a few days. And once it was clear that none of what was promised was true, it would be necessary to act but not before then. Having demonstrated the practical reality of how utopian Catalan independence is, it would be time to apply article 155 of the Constitution and, possibly, to declare a state of emergency. The first measure would disqualify the entire government of the Generalitat and the Autonomous Community of Catalonia would then be administered by the central Government. The state of exception regulated under Organic Law 4/1981 would make it possible to return a certain order to the Catalan administration (some of the measures provided

for under that Law are suspending all kinds of publications, radio and television broadcasts; the suspension of the roles of civil servants or public staff that encourage the disturbance of order with their conduct, etc.). And, in addition to all the above, begin the corresponding penal proceedings against all the people involved in the disorder once they have been removed from their positions in accordance with article 155 and prevent them from causing more harm to anyone. The application of article 155 of the Constitution should be carried out during enough time in order for the Courts of Justice (always slow but they always get things done eventually) can begin to apply the law to all these rowdy politicians. The result therefore will be that people will have the utopia of an independent Catalonia and those that do not respect the law the suffer the consequences outlined in law.That is why I stated at the start of m article that the Government is doing things magnificently well and that would explain the “calmness” in the way that the President of the Government is reacting to things. Finally, and once normality has been re-established, it would be very urgent to, on one hand reform the Electoral Law so that the representation of Communities with nationalist governments in the Spanish Parliament was reduced to a fair level, and on the other hand, reform the Constitution so that, among other things, the State would establish full responsibility over education. It is certain that the germ of nationalism has been created in schools via a distortion of common history, creating a Catalan “sentiment” that is more based on feeling than it is on facts. This sentiment has gradually been created from very early childhood and it is practically impossible to do anything against it. A person feels like a nationalist or does not based on the education they have received and the educational “guidelines” they may have been indoctrinated with. It is difficult to change that feeling as an adult. That is the reason why I believe the first problem to resolve in the Catalan crisis is an educational one by “enforcement” in the Constitution of the obligation to create a national conscience.

Además de las graves tensiones políticas, en las últimas semanas la economía ha adquirido protagonismo en Cataluña, a raíz de la salida de bancos y empresas, que empezó siendo un goteo y puede convertirse en riada. Esta posibilidad fue una y otra vez negada por las autoridades nacionalistas. Ya en 2015 los bancos advirtieron del riesgo si la independencia era declarada de manera unilateral. Pero Artur Mas, entonces presidente de la Generalitat, lo desmintió de manera tajante: “no se marchará nadie”, aseguró. En realidad, sucedió justo lo contrario: las empresas se marcharon, y lo hicieron además en un número superior a las previsiones. Si la situación no se encauza, y en particular si empeora, todo indica que esa

In addition to serious political tensions, over the last few weeks the economy has gained greater prominence in Catalonia, due to the departure of banks and companies, which began as a trickle and could become a ﬂood. This possibility was denied time and time again by the nationalist authorities. Back in 2015 the banks warned of the risk if independence was declared unilaterally. However, Artur Mas, then president of the Generalitat, categorically denied this: “Nobody will leave”, he stated. In reality, the complete opposite occurred: companies left, and furthermore they did so in greater numbers than what was predicted. If the situation is harnessed, and particularly, if it gets worse, everything indicates that the departure of companies will reach signiﬁcant levels. What impact could this have on the economy? Luis Garicano and Francisco de la Torre, economists from the party Ciudadanos, analysed the subject of an independent Catalonia from the point of view of the Public Treasury. Their conclusion was that, as Company Tax is a state tax (except in Navarre and the Basque Country), the change of

company headquarters would not have a large effect on tax collection. However, they added that the most important impact would not be that, but rather that an independent Catalonia could not charge taxes, because it would lack the computer system and the specialised staff for doing so, and especially the information that the Tax Agency receives from banks and companies: “Without large companies, even with its own Treasury which the Generalitat does not have, tax collection is not possible”. Having said that, apart from the question of tax, the consequences that companies leaving would have on the Catalan economy would very probably be negative, although we do not exactly know what percentage the GDP would drop. The effect on the image is very harmful, and it would damage savings, investment and employment. It is possible to argue that an independent Catalonia could become, as some nationalist leaders have said, a new Switzerland, within a framework of freedom and legal security which could result in a paradise of prosperity. Perhaps. But if I were you, I would not bet on it.

Su talante, personalidad, conversación y gusto por la cocina lo han convertido en uno de los vecinos más queridos y entrañables de Torreguadiaro 1 Manuel Gil

El cariño es algo que no se puede comprar. José Sánchez Moreno (natural de Guadiaro, 1947), conocido por todos en la zona como ‘Pepe el de Río Seco’ [como a él le gusta que le llamen], puso fin el pasado 1 de octubre a más de 41 años al servicio de la buena mesa, morada de puertas abiertas y uno de los enclaves más emblemáticos de Torreguadiaro desde el año 1976. Río Seco no es un restaurante más en el bulevar, ha sido durante décadas el escenario de grandes recuerdos y momentos inolvidables para muchas familias de Torreguadiaro y veraneantes, lugar de mil anécdotas y de sonrisas a la entrada. Porque si algo guarda de especial ese privilegiado rincón era encontrarse con la cariñosa bienvenida de Pepe al cruzar su puerta; y eso es algo que no se puede comprar y que todos sus amigos y clientes tendrán siempre muy presente al pasar por la Avenida Mar del Sur. Amante de su tierra, defensor de sus costumbres y siempre con ese buen humor y la ‘charla’ que todo parroquiano ansía tras una barra, Pepe acumula mil vivencias entre los fogones de la que ha sido su casa durante 41 años. “¿Qué en

qué se parece este Torreguadiaro al de aquellos años? En que ahí siguen las dos torres”, bromea con ese gracejo natural, siempre al servicio de sus clientes a los que trató más como amigos y casi como familia. Río Seco abrió durante un caluroso mes de junio del año 1976; quizás como relevo natural a la recordada ‘Venta La Torre’ que junto a su padre mantuvieron hasta el año 1974 a pocos metros del que fuese más tarde su restaurante. Aunque no siempre estuvo entre fuegos y cazuelas este entrañable vecino, entre 1974 y 1979 también mantuvo la gerencia de la discoteca ‘Monokel’, pionera en la barriada. Con el buen hacer y paciencia de Aurora Vega a su lado, compañe-

ra de mil batallas y de la vida; y el apoyo y cariño de sus hijas Sara y Vanessa; Pepe ha visto pasar a todo tipo de personalidades por su restaurante, con nombres propios como Paloma San Basilio, Pedro Carrasco y Rocío Jurado o Severiano Ballesteros entre otros muchos, aunque “eso queda en la intimidad con el cliente, nunca quise molestarles para hacerme una foto con ellos y siempre agradecieron la discreción y el trato cordial que recibe cualquier visitante”, explica. A pesar de la experiencia y los años, confiesa que jamás le tomó el gusto a eso de pelar patatas y reconoce que el negocio de la hostelería es principalmente “muy sacrificado, exigente y te deman-

da estar siempre contento para brindar una sonrisa y palabra amable a cualquier cliente”. Tiene la confianza de que sus hijas sigan al frente del negocio una vez se reorganice todo aunque como se conoce él mismo muy bien, sabe que en algo estará “echándoles una mano ”, bromea. Y sostiene que sólo se seguirá llamando Río Seco mientras “haya una Sánchez Vega en el mismo”. Una herencia que le gustaría que siguiese pero aún no sabe en qué concepto de nuevo establecimiento gastronómico se convertirá en la próxima etapa. Reconoce que ha sido todo un orgullo ver pasar a diferentes generaciones por el restaurante, “he

dado de comer a nietos, con sus propias familias, de los que en su día fueron mis primeros clientes; esa confianza es todo un honor”. Y se deshace en elogios para agradecer “a todas las personas que han pasado por Río Seco durante estos bonitos años, sin ellos nada habría sido posible”, asegura, “y espero que sigan viniendo”, apuntilla con ese inconfundible y cariñoso humor que le caracteriza. Por todo eso y mucho más, prepáranos la cuenta querido Pepe, por el gran sacrificio y esfuerzo que has dedicado todos estos años con tu servicio a la barriada de Torreguadiaro aunque será difícil pagar tanto cariño.

On 1 October, José Sánchez Moreno (born in Guadiaro, 1947), known by everyone in the area as ‘Pepe from Río Seco’ [as he likes to be called], ended more than 41 years at the service of good cuisine, a residence with open doors and one of the most emblematic venues in Torreguadiaro since 1976. Río Seco is not just another restaurant on the boulevard, for decades it has been the setting for great memories and unforgettable moments for many families in Torreguadiaro and holidaymakers, the place of thousands of stories and smiles at the entrance. Because if there was something special about this outstanding venue it was getting an affectionate welcome from Pepe as you went through the door; and that is something that you cannot buy and that all his friends and clients will always bear in mind as they pass along Avenida Mar del Sur. A lower of his area, a defender of

its customs and always with the good humour and “chat” that every local hopes to find behind the bar, Pepe has amassed thousands of experiences in the kitchens of what has been his home for 41 years. “How is this Torreguadiaro similar to that of those years? By the fact that the two towers remain”, he jokes with his natural wit, always at the service of his clients whom he treated more like friends and almost like family. Río Seco opened during a warm June in 1976; perhaps as a natural succession of the memorable “Venta La Torre” which he ran up until 1974 with his father, just a few metres from what was later his restaurant. However, this affectionate local was not always in the kitchen, between 1974 and 1979 he also managed the pioneering “Monokel” disco in the area. With the good work and patience of Aurora Vega by his side, his companion in thousands of battles and in life; and the support

and affection of his daughters Sara and Vanessa; Pepe has seen all kinds of figures pass through his restaurant, with big names such as Paloma San Basilio, Pedro Carrasco and Rocío Jurado and Severiano Ballesteros among many others, although “that remains private with the client, I never wanted to annoy them to get a photo with them and they were always thankful and the warm service that any visitor receives”, he explains. to continue but he still does not know what kind of gastronomic establishment it will turn into during the next stage. He acknowledges that he has been really proud to watch different generations pass through the restaurant, “I have fed grandchildren, with their own families, who back in the day were my first clients; that trust is a real honour”. And he had lots of praise when it comes to thanking “everyone that has passed through Río Seco during these beautiful years, without them nothing would have been possible”, he states, “and I hope they continue to come”, he states with the unmistakeable and affectionate humour that characterises him. Due to all of that and lots more, can we get the bill beloved Pepe, for all the sacrifice and effort that you have put in during all of these years with your service to the neighbourhood of Torreguadiaro, however, so much affection is really priceless.

Tras el anuncio de la aerolínea Monarch sobre el cese de sus operaciones, el Gobierno de Gibraltar informó que se encuentra colaborando con el Gobierno británico con el ﬁn de identiﬁcar medidas para asistir a los pasajeros afectados. El Gobierno del Peñón recomendó encarecidamente que todos los clientes de Monarch vuelvan a reservar sus vuelos con otras compañías. La Autoridad Sanitaria de Gibraltar (Gibraltar Health Authority, GHA) actuó para ayudar a aquellos pacientes de la

GHA que hubiesen reservados vuelos con Monarch con la reserva de nuevos pasajes. Además, planteó diversas alternativas para los vuelos programados del pasado lunes, 2 de octubre, jornada más afectada por la suspensión de vuelos repentina. Parece que todos los pasajeros que tenían reservas para estos vuelos al Reino Unido podrán embarcar. Sin embargo, aquellos pasajeros que inicien un viaje de ida y vuelta a RU desde Gibraltar, no tendrán vuelo de regreso a Gibraltar.

Gibraltar Airport, aﬀected by the termination of Monarch Airlines Following the announcement that Monarch Airlines will cease operations, the Government of Gibraltar has stated that it is collaborating with the British government in order to identity measures for assisting affected passengers. The Government of Gibraltar strongly recommended that all Monarch clients go back to booking flights with other companies. The Gibraltar Health Authority, (GHA) acted to help all GHA patients that had

booked flights with Monarch with booking new trips. Also, it put forward different alternatives for the flights scheduled last Monday 2 October, a day that was more affected by the sudden suspension of flights. It seems that all the passengers who had bookings for these flights to the United Kingdom will be able to embark. Tributación de los inmuebles urbanos propiedad de no residentes personas físicas Si usted tiene la condición de no residente en España y es propietario de algún inmueble urbano situado en este país, estará sometido al Impuesto sobre la Renta de no Residentes y a un tributo de carácter local, el Impuesto sobre Bienes Inmuebles. Dependiendo del destino del inmueble, las rentas sometidas a gravamen son: 1. Rentas imputadas de bienes inmuebles urbanos de uso propio. El rendimiento a declarar es la cantidad resultante de aplicar al valor catastral del inmueble, que figura en el recibo del Impuesto sobre Bienes Inmuebles (IBI), los porcentajes pertinentes. La fecha límite para la presentación del Impuesto sobre la Renta de no Residentes respecto del periodo fiscal 2016, es el 31 de Diciembre del 2017, pudiéndose presentar durante todo el año natural. 2. Rendimientos de inmuebles arrendados El rendimiento a declarar es el importe íntegro que se recibe del arrendatario, sin deducir ningún gasto. No obstante, cuando se trate de contribuyentes residentes en otro Estado miembro de la Unión Europea y desde 1 de enero de 2015, también en Islandia y Noruega, para la determinación de la base imponible, podrán deducir los gastos previstos en la Ley del Impuesto sobre la Renta de las Personas Físicas, siempre que se acredite que están relacionados directamente con los rendimientos obtenidos en España y que tienen un vínculo económico directo e indisociable con la actividad realizada en España. 3. La base imponible se reducirá, en concepto de mínimo exento, en 700.000 euros. Están obligados a presentar declaración los sujetos pasivos cuya cuota tributaria resulte a ingresar, o cuando, no dándose esta circunstancia, el valor de sus bienes o derechos, determinado de acuerdo con las normas reguladoras del impuesto, resulte superior a 2.000.000 euros.

La fecha limite para la presentación del Impuesto para el caso de no Residentes es el 30 de junio, respecto del periodo fiscal anterior. 5.- Impuesto sobre bienes inmuebles Se trata de un impuesto local, exigido por los Ayuntamientos, que deben pagar los propietarios de bienes inmuebles. Todos los bienes inmuebles de cada municipio están incluidos en un censo y tienen asignado un valor (valor catastral). Partiendo del valor catastral y aplicando el tipo de gravamen que establece el Ayuntamiento, se obtiene el importe a pagar. El plazo para efectuar el pago varía en cada municipio, si bien normalmente es en torno a los meses de septiembre, octubre y noviembre de cada año. Taxation of urban properties owned by non resident individuals If you are a non-resident of Spain and the owner of an urban property located in this country, you will be liable to Non-Resident Income Tax and to a local tax, the Real Estate Tax (“IBI”). Depending upon the use of the property, your taxable income will be: 1. Income arising from urban properties for own use and enjoyment The amount liable to taxation will be the deemed income resulting from applying the relevant percentages to the cadastral value of the property (which appears in the local Real Estate Tax (“IBI”) receipt). The deadline for filing the Non-Resident Income Tax declaration in respect of the fiscal year 2016, is 31 December 2017, with the filing period running throughout the year. 2. Income if the property is rented The amount liable to taxation will be the total rental income received from any tenant, without deduction of any expenses. Nevertheless, taxpayers who are resident in another Member State of the European Union (and, as from 1 January 2015, Iceland and Norway are also included), will be able to deduct certain expenses as referred to in the law relating to Personal Income Tax (“IRPF”), provided that such expenses are directly related to the income generated in Spain and have a direct economic connection to the activity carried out in Spain. 3. Capital gains arising from the sale of real estate Capital gains arising upon the sale of a property will be liable to taxation in Spain. The gain liable to taxation is calculated by reference to the difference between the purchase price/transfer value and the sale price. This gain may also be reduced by

any relevant expenses arising upon the acquisition or sale of the property. Nevertheless, where the property is being transferred by an individual person who acquired it before 31 December 1994, the relevant gain may be reduced by applying a transitional regime. 4. Wealth Tax (“Impuesto sobre el Patrimonio”) Article 4 of Royal Decree 3/2016 has again extended this tax for one more year, i.e. for the fiscal year 2017, to be filed in 2018. The taxable base will be reduced by a minimum exemption of 700.000 € per taxpayer. The requirement to file this return applies to taxpayers who are liable to payment of the tax in accordance with the applicable rules or, if no tax is payable, if the value of their assets or rights determined in accordance with

such rules, exceeds Euros 2,000,000. The deadline for the filing of this tax for Non-Residents is 30 June in respect of the previous fiscal year. 5. Real Estate Tax (“Impuesto de Bienes Inmuebles”) This is a local tax also referred to as “IBI” to be paid to the Town Councils by owners of real estate. All properties within a municipality are included in a list and are assigned a value (cadastral value). The amount of tax to be paid will be the amount resulting from applying to the cadastral value of the property the rates of taxation established by the Town Council. Arcgisa informa: El Servicio de Atención al Cliente de Arcgisa mejora su eﬁciencia y agilidad ✑ Redacción

Un servicio atención al usuario eficiente y de calidad es uno de los puntos que más valoran los clientes de cualquier empresa, sobre todo si se trata de una sociedad pública. En el caso de ARCGISA, la empresa pública responsable de los servicios de aguas y residuos en el Campo de Gibraltar, su Servicio de Atención al Usuario ha venido mejorando sus propios índices de eficacia en la tramitación y resolución de expedientes a lo largo de los últimos años. En el último año, este departamento atendió un total de 7660 expedientes, un 27% más que en el ejercicio anterior. Sin embargo, la continua mejora en la eficiencia y la optimización de los flujos internos de trabajo permitió que, a pesar del aumento del volumen, el período de resolución de expedientes se mantuviese en cifras similares a años anteriores (66 días de promedio). En 2016 se resolvieron el 89% de los expedientes de ese ejercicio, dándose resolución al resto en el

descender en los últimos años. En el último año, la reducción con respecto al año anterior fue del 34%. Este es un dato especialmente valorado por ARCGISA en tanto que muestra una progresiva optimización de los servicios prestados a sus clientes, así como una mejora en la calidad de los mismos. Arcgisa Customer Service improves its efficiency and speed Efficient and quality customer service is one of the aspects most valued by the clients of any company, above all if it is a public company. In the case of ARCGISA, the public company responsible for the water and waste services in Campo de Gibraltar, its Customer Service Department has been gradually improving its efficiency rates for processing and resolving cases over recent years. In the last year, this department dealt with a total of 7660 cases, 27% more than in the previous year. However, the ongoing improvements in the efficiency and optimisation of internal work flows made it possible, despite the increase in volume, to keep the period for resolving

cases similar to that of previous years (66 days on average). In 2016, 89% of the cases of that financial year were solved, and the rest were solved in the first quarter of 2017, which means an increase of more than 10% of the resolving rate in relation to the previous year. More requests, fewer claims The increase in recorded cases is based on a 44% increase in the number of requests for different processes by clients (changes in the holder, changes to direct debit, allowances, etc.). En el ejercicio 2016, el Servicio de Atención al Cliente tramitó 2.300 expedientes relativos a tasas especiales y bonificaciones de los que prácticamente el 100% resultaron aprobados.

Esta Bolsa de Ayuda, en cada

En el primer año de funcionamiento, se aprobaron un total de 67 de estas ayudas por un importe de 78.744,12€, no llegándose a agotar la totalidad del crédito disponible, que se

acumula para próximos ejercicios. Así mismo, ARCGISA quiere recordar que desde el día 1 de octubre de 2017 se encuentra abierto el plazo para solicitar las boniﬁcaciones y tasas especiales, permaneciendo abierto dicho plazo hasta el día 30 de diciembre del presente año.

El Colegio Gloria Fuertes acogió la celebración del Día Internacional de la Niña. Los actos desarrollados en el Colegio durante toda la jornada consistieron en la lectura de un manifiesto, conferencias de mujeres de distintas profesiones, y un cuentacuentos. Posteriormente se contó con la opinión de diferentes profesionales para dar a conocer su experiencia, sus vivencias y también sus ilusiones desde niñas, pero ya contadas desde mayores. Se trata de breves intervenciones de una bombero, una abogada, una militar, una Policía Local, una capitana de barco y una responsable de Puerto Sotogrande.

Una consultora especializada acude a una reunió en Alcaldía para informar y dar a conocer un proyecto con el objetivo de convertir a San Roque en una ciudad inteligente, denominada “Smart City”. En la reunión han estado presentes diferentes técnicos municipales de varias delegaciones implicadas, además del alcalde [Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix] y el delegado de Tecnologías [David Ramos], ya que el proyecto que arranca afecta a numerosos departamentos municipales. El propósito final de una Smart City es alcanzar una gestión eficiente en todas las áreas de la ciudad (urbanismo, infraestructuras, transporte, servicios, educación, sanidad, seguridad pública, energía, etcétera), satisfaciendo a la vez las necesidades de la urbe y de sus ciudadanos. Algunos ejemplos que puede percibir el ciudadano de proyectos Smart City son las tecnologías que mejoran el flujo del tráfico, el alumbrado eficiente mediante energía solar, o la construcción de viviendas equipadas

con sistemas que permiten ahorrar en calefacción o refrigeración. Se explicó que integraría integra asuntos de transporte, de seguridad ciudadana, recogida de residuos, iluminación o de cualquier otro ámbito en el que desarrollar ese proyecto de ciudad inteligente. El concepto de Smart City no solo se centra en los nuevos proyectos de crecimiento urbano, sino que se dirige también a la adecuación de las actuales ciudades en ciudades inteligentes. Empresas, instituciones y expertos coinciden en que Smart City o ciudad inteligente son aquellas ciudades que apuestan por mejorar la vida de sus habitantes y, a la

vez, por la sostenibilidad. Se trata, en definitiva, de encontrar el equilibrio entre el bienestar de los ciudadanos y la preservación del entorno. Una ciudad inteligente es aquella que apuesta por sistemas eficientes aplicados a sus infraestructuras. La innovación tecnológica es la clave para desarrollar proyectos que permitan optimizar la distribución de energía, gestionar los residuos de manera más limpia, reducir el consumo de los hogares, organizar mejor la circulación de los vehículos… En definitiva, este tipo de iniciativas se aplican sobre cualquier aspecto que influye en la organización de un núcleo urbano.

First steps taken to become a Smart City A specialised consultancy company attended a meeting at the Mayoral office in order to provide information and publicise a project aimed at turning San Roque into a so-called “Smart City”. The meeting was attended by different municipal technicians from several of the delegations involved, as well as the mayor [Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix] and the delegate for Technologies [David Ramos], as the project that is getting underway affects several municipal departments. The end goal of a Smart City is to achieve effective management of all the city´s areas (town planning, infrastructures, transport, services, education, health, public safety, energy, etc.), while satisfying the

Some examples that the citizens of Smart City projects can perceive are technologies that improve the flow of traffic, efficient lighting using solar energy, and the construction of properties fitted out with systems that make it possible to save money on heating and cooling. It was explained that the city would integrate matters relating to transport, civic security, waste collection, lighting and any other sector involved in the development of this smart city project. The Smart City concept is not only focused on new projects for urban growth, it is also aimed at adapting current cities to turn them into smart cities. Companies, institutions and

experts agree that Smart Cities are cities that commit to improving the lives of their inhabitants, while also boosting sustainability. Ultimately, this is about finding a balance between the wellbeing of citizens and the conservation of the environment. A smart city is one that commits to efficient systems applied to its infrastructures. Technological innovation is essential in order to develop projects that make it possible to optimise the distribution of energy, manage waste in a cleaner way, reduce the energy consumption of homes, better organise the movement of vehicles… In short, this type of initiative applies to any aspect that influences the organisation of an urban area.

Colegio Gloria Fuertes hosted the International Day of the Child. The events held at the school during the entire days consisted of reading a manifesto, talks by women from different professions, and storytelling. The events began with the reading of a manifesto, carried out by the pupils of the School, aimed at years five and six. Afterwards, those attending heard the opinions of different professionals who talked about their experiences and also their dreams since they were young girls, but told now as adults. These were brief talks from a fire woman, a lawyer, a soldier, a Local Police offer, a boat captain, and a woman in charge of Sotogrande Port.

La Guardia Civil homenajea a su Patrona en el Valle del Guadiaro Emotiva, como cada año, la celebración de la eucaristía en honor a la Patrona de la Guardia Civil, la Virgen del Pilar, en el Valle del Guadiaro. De nuevo, un 12 de octubre, los representantes e integrantes del Puesto Principal de Guadiaro, arropados por personalidades del mundo de la política y de la sociedad local que no faltaron a la cita, homenajearon a su Patrona con una misa celebrada en el Iglesia de Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro. El acto, cargado de emoción en todas sus partes; contó como es habitual con un discurso de apertura interpretado por el teniente al cargo del cuartel guadiareño, Carlos Molina, que se refirió a sus compañeros agentes, autoridades militares y civiles invitadas, así como a la feligresía local que no se perdió la ceremonia, un mensaje de agradecimiento, respeto y unidad ante los momentos políticos y sociales que afronta España. Detalló la anulación de la tradicional copa de vino que se sirve en este acto actos conmemorativo a causa de los “acontecimientos que están ocurriendo en Cataluña y como solidaridad con los compañeros que se encuentran prestando servicio allí”, manifestó. Pidió a la Virgen del Pilar por los que han dado la vida “al servicio de nuestro país porque ésa es nuestra razón de ser”; así como por la bonita herencia como profesión y forma de vida “que hemos heredado de nuestros antepasados que formaron parte del cuerpo”. Aunque Molina emocionó con su referencia a todos sus compañeros que “realizan cada día una labor impagable al servicio de todos los españoles por que los Guardias Civiles no entendemos de colores, ni de ideologías, entendemos de España y de los Españoles”. Tras la ceremonia, la entonación del himno de la Guardia Civil, el “Viva España, Viva el Rey, Viva el orden y la ley, ¡Viva la Guardia Civil!”; y la fotografía familiar, se clausuró un año más el homenaje en el Valle del Guadiaro a la Patrona de la Benemérita.

Guardia Civil pays tribute to its Patron Saint in Valle del Guadiaro Like every year, the holding of the Eucharist in honour of the Patron Saint of the Guardia Civil, the Virgin of Pilar, in Valle del Guadiaro, was an emotive event. Once again, on 12 October the representatives and members of the Main Unit of Guadiaro, along with figures from the world of politics and local society that did not want to miss the event, paid tribute to their Patron Saint with a mass held at the Church of Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro. The event, full of emotion among all the parties; had as is customary an opening speech given by the lieutenant in charge of the Guadiaro garrison, Carlos Molina, who referred to his fellow agents, guest military and civic authorities as well as the local parishioners who did not want to miss the ceremony, in a message of thanks, respect and unity in the face of the political and social situations that Spain is facing. He outlined the cancellation of the traditional glass of wine that is served at these commemorative events due to the “events that are taking place in Catalonia and in solidarity with the colleagues that are providing a service there”, he stated. He prayed to the Virgin of Pilar for those that have given their lives “while serving our country because that is our rasion d´être”; as well as the beautiful legacy as a profession and way of life “that we have inherited from our forerunners that formed part of the force”. Even Molina grew emotional with his reference to the colleagues that “carry out invaluable work each day at the service of all Spaniards because the Guardia Civil does not have colours, or ideology, it believes in Spain and the Spaniards”. Following the ceremony, the Guardia Civil hymn was sung, the “Long live Spain, Long live the King, Long live order and law, Long live the Guardia Civil!”; and a group photograph marked the end once again this year to the tribute in Valle del Guadiaro to the Patron Saint of the Guardia Civil.

Valderrama: 40 años, 23 torneos y mil recuerdos 40 años han pasado desde septiembre de 1977 cuando por primera vez pisé el RC Valderrama, entonces llamado Las Aves. He tenido la inmensa suerte y el privilegio de trabajar en los 23 torneos que aquí se han celebrado; cuando echo la vista atrás, se agolpan miles de recuerdos en la memoria. La Semana Santa de 1978, antes de viajar al Masters de Augusta, invité a Seve, Antonio Garrido y Manolo Piñero a entrenar en Sotogrande; un día jugaban en el “campo de abajo” (RCG Sotogrande), como se conocía entonces, y al siguiente en Las Aves. Pasamos unos días inolvidables. Durante los tres años que compaginé los inviernos en Sotogrande -me ocupaba de las relaciones públicas- con el trabajo en el Circuito Europeo para la agencia de viajes británica pionera en trasla-

dar a los jugadores por Europa, tuve la oportunidad de hacer grandes amigos entre los profesionales que cada invierno venían a entrenar a Sotogrande. Así

conocí y traté a Bernhard Langer, Ronan Raﬀerty, Philip Walton, Jesper Parnevik… En el 88 se jugó el primero de los 16 Volvo Masters que tuvie-

ron lugar en Valderrama. Supuso una revolución, la marca de automóviles sueca y la excelencia de Valderrama pusieron muy alto el listón del Tour Europeo. Entre to-

dos formábamos una gran familia y fueron torneos entrañables. Recuerdo los desempates con jugadores españoles. Qué manera de sufrir. La cara de angustia de Miguel Ángel Jiménez cuando cayó ante Tiger Woods, los cuatro hoyos de Carlos Rodiles y Fredrik Jacobson, y Sergio contra Poulter. La maldición se cernía sobre los nuestros… hasta que ganó Sergio en 2011, ¡qué alegría, por ﬁn un triunfo español en Valderrama! La Ryder Cup del 97 fue, sin lugar a dudas, el torneo más emocionante que he vivido en Valderrama. Con Seve al mando, el “Pisha” vicecapitán, José Mari Olazábal y Nacho Garrido en el equipo… ¡y la copa para Europa! Severiano nos hizo vivirla con su acostumbrada intensidad y, como siempre digo, en la Ryder, era más Seve que nunca.

40 years have passed since September 1977 when I ﬁrst visited RC Valderrama, then called Las Aves. I have had the immense fortune and the privilege of working at the 23 tournaments that have been held here; when I look back, thousands of memories come ﬂooding back. In Holy Week 1978, before travelling to the Masters in Augusta, I invited Seve, Antonio Garrido and Manolo Piñero to train in Sotogrande; one day they played on the “lower course” (RCG Sotogrande), as it was then known, and the fol-

poco lo vi entrenar por aquí y es un enorme jugador. Tenemos la gran fortuna en este país de que nos salgan ﬁguras así, como anteriormente Sergio [García], Seve [Ballesteros] o Chema [José María Olazábal]. Estoy convencido de que va a ser número uno del mundo de aquí a un año, máximo dos.

Muy buenas, va camino de dos años su colaboración en el papel de embajador de La Reserva Club. Un lujo contar con su presencia en Sotogrande y verle en no pocas ocasiones por torneos y eventos del club. ¿Qué tal hasta el momento? Una experiencia muy positiva, además, para mí supuso una sorpresa muy agradable que quisieran contar conmigo para participar en esta bonita propuesta. Representar a un club como La Reserva y en especial aquí en Sotogrande, un lugar donde el golf tiene tanta historia, es todo un honor. Sólo con entrar en esta fantástica Casa Club ya se aprecia su vínculo con la entidad: cuadros, trofeos, fotografías,… Hay que agradecérselo, principalmente, a Marc Topiol [CEO de Sotogrande S. A.], él es un amante del golf además de un magníﬁco jugador. Un día que estábamos en mi casa, cuando empezamos a tener encuentros para concertar mi relación con el club y vio todos los trofeos, fotografías y demás; me sugirió colocar imágenes mías en la Casa Club, en esos momentos estaban inmersos en su remodelación. Me resultó una idea muy bonita porque al ﬁnal los trofeos los ve poca gente en mi casa y le comenté que me parecía

Hay que apoyarle para que siga enamorado de esta zona. ¿Qué pensaba usted? ¿Qué piensa un jugador en los previos de un torneo tan esperado, como es éste, por la aﬁción local? Es muy bonito jugar delante de tu propia gente aunque al mismo tiempo tienes ese gusanillo porque buscas agradar, jugar bien y tratar de ganar un torneo de esta categoría. Y sí, por supuesto, ha-

“Jon Rahm will be the world number one in a year” One of the most legendary names in national golf, the image of La Reserva Club, offers his thoughts ahead of the Andalucía Valderrama Masters and outlines his relationship with La Reserva and future projects Hello, you now have now been collaborating with La Reserva Club as an ambassador for almost two years. It is a luxury to have you in Sotogrande and see you often around tournaments and events at the club. How has it been up until now? It has been a very positive experience, also it was a really pleasant surprise for me that they wanted to have my support in order to participate in this nice proposal. Representing a club like La Reserva and especially here in Sotogrande, a place where golf has so much history, is a real honour. You only need to enter this fantastic Club House and you can appreciate its link with the entity: pictures, trophies, photographs, ... First and foremost, it is necessary to thank Marc Topiol (CEO of Sotogrande S.A.), he loves golf and is also a magnificent player. One day we were at my home, when we began to hold meetings in order to arrange my relationship with the club and he saw all the trophies, photographs, and everything else; he suggested putting up my pictures at the Club House, at that point they were immersed in the remodelling project. It seemed like a really nice idea because ultimately, few people get to see the trophies at my house and I told him that it seemed like a fantastic idea and that if he wanted to put up the trophies in addition to the photographs, I would loan them a large number. It is a really nice gesture that I am really thankful for. We are on the brink of a great golfing event in the area. Holding the Andalucía Valderrama Masters is a great boost and first-rate promotion for the Sotogrande destination on a golfing level. I am convinced of that, having a tournament of this level is crucial. Especially having the courses that we have here, and with Valderrama as a standard bearer. This has been attained through a lot of effort and we all have to make the most of it. Having a tournament of this prestige each year is really beneficial for the area and the other courses.

The emergence of Jon Rahm has been meteoric; how do you assess his season? Up until about three years nobody had heard of him. However, I found out that he had won the World Championship, he even beat Nicklaus´ record which I think dated back to 1964. And of course that was really striking, I took an interest in him and everyone talked about Rahm as a phenomenon. Recently I saw him training around here and he is a fantastic player. We are really lucky in this country that people like this emerge, as previously Sergio [García], Seve [Ballesteros] and Chema [José María Olazábal] did. I am convinced that is going to be the world number one within a year, two at most. Sergio still has plenty of mileage in him, he ﬁnally won the Masters... Sergio is a stratospheric player. He is one of the players that have an impact on me, pure talent. He is not mechanical; he is an old-fashioned style player. Also, he manages his career in

his own way, he plays the tournaments he decides to and that is 15/20% less than the average player on the American Circuit. That will enable him to prolong his career for longer and he will remain hungry for victory. Also, I am lucky to know him well and I love him; he is the type of player that you fall in love with on the course and like to follow. A year ago you lead the national team as the head coach at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with the return of golf to Olympic competition. What is it like to experience the Olympic Games? Attending was a really nice surprise. I have to thank the players and the Federation: it was an unforgettable experience. Apart from the fact that I have always been really excited about competing while representing my country, the Olympic Games are specially and even more so with the players I went with (Sergio García and Rafa Cabrera-Bello). It is something that you need to experience once in your life and you cannot miss out on it. What was most interesting about everything was living alongside all kinds of athletes from around the world at the Olympic Village. The harmony, social cohesion and great atmosphere are an example for everyone. An example that goes from sport to politics. Returning our attention, a little

to La Reserva. The club is making a strong commitment to being a benchmark in the south of Europe. What projects are underway? We are trying to position the club among the best although it already is because we have an extraordinary golf course. However, we work to ensure that when people come to visit us they feel that they have enjoyed a unique experience and will want to return. Our best introduction is to have them enjoy a high-quality concept and a top-level experience. The best prize we have is for people to leave saying that they will return when they can and I think that we are achieving that. Can we dream of a professional tournament at La Reserva? I would love it and also, La Reserva deserves it, the course has unique qualities. The entire team and the company are making a strong and big commitment; therefore, they deserve to attain a top-level event thanks to their eﬀort to achieve something top quality. It is time for the institutions to also commit to La Reserva, we deserve oﬃcial support in order to bring a great tournament. I hope that this will not take too long to achieve. El Real Club Valderrama efectuó un plan minucioso plan de renovación que sitúa al mítico trazado ‘sotograndino’ entre los mejores del ranking mundial a la vanguardia en mantenimiento y cuidados del campo. Un profundo proceso de mejora que empezó en 2013 y que ha supuesto una importante inversión. “En febrero se completaron con éxito las obras en los nueve primeros hoyos y el próximo invierno se ejecutará el proyecto de

los nueve segundos, con el que ﬁnalizará un importante proceso de reformas realizado con el ﬁrme propósito de su actual Junta Directiva de seguir siendo, por muchos años, el mejor trazado de Europa”, matiza Javier Reviriego, director general del campo. “Entre los trabajos acometidos en los nueve primeros hoyos, destaca la restauración de los greenes a su tamaño original y renovación con la variedad “Bent Grass Agrostis T1”. Además, la base

de arena se ha mejorado y algunos drenajes han sido reparados, todo ello con el asesoramiento del famoso diseñador de campos de golf, Kyle Philips”, dice. “Los ante-greenes han sido renovados y se ha añadido arena silícea nueva a la base para mejorar las condiciones de juego. En las zonas de “rough” se han eliminado las malas hierbas y los famosos alcornoques se han podado, permitiendo así mayor entrada de luz y movimiento de aire con el ﬁn de mejo-

rar la salud de la planta”, añade el director general. “El paisajismo se ha retocado en las zonas adyacentes a los caminos y, en cuanto a los bunkers, se han mejorado varios drenajes y añadido arena para favorecer la jugabilidad de los golﬁstas. Una de las mayores partidas del plan de inversión ha sido el nuevo sistema de riego, uno de los más avanzados del mundo que ha permitido no sólo presentar el campo en mejores condicio-

nes sino que ha supuesto un importante ahorro de recursos hídricos gracias al software de optimización”, subraya el mandatario. “Con la conclusión de esta fase, sólo resta realizar el mismo trabajo en los segundos nueve hoyos para dar por concluido un plan con el que Valderrama aumentará sustancialmente ese nivel de excelencia que lo ha hecho famoso en todo el mundo”, sentencia Reviriego.

This thorough improvement process began in 2013 and has involved a significant investment. “In February, work was successfully completed on the first nine holes and next winter the project on the second nine holes will be carried out, to complete a significant renovation process carried out with the firm commitment of its current Management Board to remain, for many years, as the best course in Europe”, states

Javier Reviriego, director general of the course. “Among the work carried out on the ﬁrst nine holes, what stands out is the restoration of the greens

to their original size and the revamping with the variety ´Bent Grass Agrostis T1´. Also, the sand base has been improved and some drains have been repaired,

all of this has taken place with the guidance of the famous golf course designer, Kyle Philips”, he says. “The areas in front of the greens have been revamped and new silica sand has been added to the base in order to improve playing conditions. In the rough areas, weeds have been removed and the famous cork oaks have been pruned, thus allowing for more light to get in and greater movement of air with the aim of improving the health of the plant”, adds the director general. “The landscaping has been retouched in the areas adjacent to the paths and, with regard to the bunkers, several drains have been improved and sand has been

added in order to boost playability for golfers. One of the biggest items on the investment plan was the new irrigation system, one of the most advanced in the world which has made it possible to present the course in top condition and to also save a signiﬁcant amount of water thanks to optimisation software”, highlights the manager. “With the conclusion of this phase, all that remains is to carry out the same work on the second nine holes in order to conclude a plan with which Valderrama will substantially increase that level of excellence that has made it famous throughout the world”, states Reviriego.

La Fundación Sergio García, anﬁtriona del torneo, anunció que donará la recaudación que consiga durante la semana de competición a un proyecto de interiorismo que pretende “humanizar” la Unidad de Rayos del Hospital Universitario La Paz y mejorar con ello la atención emocional de los enfermos y familiares, entre otros beneﬁcios. El pasado año, durante el Open de España en Valderrama, la Fundaición de Sergio García ya logró recaudar casi 60.000 euros.La Fundación Sergio García destinará la re-

caudación obtenida a través del Andalucía Valderrama Masters al proyecto Hospital Universitario La Paz: Humanización de la Unidad de Rayos. Esta iniciativa persigue mejorar el cuidado emocional de los pacientes, familiares y personal sanitario mediante la creación de un entorno acogedor, luminoso, relajante, logrado con una adecuada elección de materiales, imágenes y colores. Además de cuidar a las personas, el proyecto quiere también cuidar la economía del hospital y el planeta, mediante un cambio de iluminación que contribuirá a crear ese ambiente más humano y supondrá un

ahorro del 60 por ciento de consumo energético. “Disfrutar de un entorno agradable tiene efectos muy positivos en las personas y eso lo sabemos bien quienes jugamos al golf. Nuestro deporte nos da la posibilidad de pasar mucho tiempo en un entorno natural, saludable y nos hace conscientes de la necesidad de cuidar el medioambiente. Nos ha gustado mucho la idea de “humanizar” los hospitales y contribuir a que estos espacios a los que tienen que acudir personas que atraviesan momentos difíciles, sean más agradables y transmitan sensaciones más positivas”, explica Sergio García.

El Chiringuito il Soño, situado en Cala Sardina, celebró para terminar la temporada estival por todo lo alto, una gran ‘Fiesta en blanco’ muy especial. Una noche irrepetible con el color blanco de fondo y en el que no faltó buena comida, gran ambiente y música de primera. Además, como colaborador del certamen, resaltar que al evento acudieron las finalistas del Concurso Miss Universo España que en esos días tomaba lugar en la vecina en Benalmádena. Educación Colegio Internacional Sotogrande La escudería Stallion Racing representa al SIS en la ﬁnal mundial del campeonato ‘F1 in Schools’ ✑ Redacción

El programa F1 in Schools reta a los estudiantes a crear su propia escudería de Fórmula 1 y a responsabilizarse del diseño, construcción y pilotaje del coche en miniatura más rápido de Fórmula 1 del futuro; un modelo a escala de 21 cm de longitud construido a partir de un modelo impulsado por un cilindro de aire comprimido. Los 27 países participantes están representados por 51 equipos que se han clasiﬁcado en ﬁnales regionales y nacionales. La escudería Stallion Racing de la Sotogrande International School ha participado y ha representado con orgullo a la escuela y a España. Faisal, el

capitán del equipo nos explica que: “Hemos trabajado mucho los últimos 7 meses, ganar esta competición internacional siendo la primera escudería que representa a España en este reto STEM (siglas en inglés de Ciencia, Tecnología, Ingeniería y Matemáticas), es un gran honor para mí y para todo el equipo”. El Sr. Álvarez y el Sr. Allen han guiado a la escudería Stallion, el equipo más joven de la competición, hasta la muy esperada ﬁnal en Malasia. En Kuala Lumpur, la escudería Stallion Racing pudo mostrar el resultado de cientos de horas de trabajo duro. Los miembros

del equipo, con el uniforme que ellos mismos diseñaron, prepararon el expositor, compartieron su portafolio escrito, hicieron una presentación oral para los jueces y finalmente, demostraron cuánto podía correr su coche. Stallion Racing represent SIS at the F1 in Schools World Finals The F1 in Schools programme challenges students to create their own Formula 1 team which is commissioned to design, construct and race the fastest miniature Formula 1 Car of the Future; a 21cm long scale model built from the F1 in Schools model block and powered by a compressed air cylinder. 51 teams representing 27 countries had qualiﬁed through regional and country ﬁnals, and Sotogrande International School’s Stallion Racing Team were going, and proud to represent Sotogrande International School and Spain. Team Cap-

tain Faisal commented, “We have worked hard in the past 7 months, and to have won the internal competition to be the first team to ever represent Spain in this STEM Challenge (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) is a huge honour for not only me but for the whole team”. Mr Álvarez and Mr Allen led Team Stallion, the youngest team in the entire competition, to the much-anticipated finals in Malaysia. Upon arriving in Kuala Lumpur it was time for Stallion Racing to set up and show off the

hundreds of hours of hard work they had invested. CEIP Barbésula Comienza un nuevo curso con novedades Damos la bienvenida a un nuevo curso echando de menos a aquellos que se marcharon al instituto para seguir creciendo, y recibiendo con muchas ganas, ilusión y expectativas a los pequeños que comienzan su andadura educativa. Un curso más, el equipo directivo de la mano del claustro intentará que todos nuestros niños y niñas, y sus familias se sientan como en casa y formemos una bonita y gran familia, que colabora, comparte y se enriquece de forma mutua. El curso ha comenzado fuerte, con el orgullo que supone para

nosotros disponer de servicio de comedor en nuestro centro. Tras muchos intentos para conseguirlo, nuestros pequeños/ as ya disfrutan de un variado y saludable menú diario. Aprovechamos la ocasión para dar las gracias a todos aquellos que lo han hecho posible. Además, no han faltado los globos, los juegos, e incluso alguna actuación teatral para arrancar motores con toda la magia que merece un inicio de curso. Confiamos en que las ilusiones que nos ocupan en septiembre sean realidades en junio.

Colegio San José XXIV Concurso Nacional de Cuentos “José Manuel Álvarez Gil” Con el objeto de honrar la memoria del fundador del centro y de fomentar la creatividad literaria entre los jóvenes, el colegio San José convoca el XXIV Concurso Nacional de Cuentos “José Manuel Álvarez Gil”. El Concurso, que goza de una trayectoria y prestigio consolidados, tiene una gran acogida en los centros docentes tanto públicos como privados de todo nuestro territorio nacional, cuyos alumnos pueden participar en tres categorías: Educación Primaria, Educación Secundaria y Enseñanzas Medias. En palabras de su coordinador, el profesor D. Juan José Bazán, “el concurso pretende fomentar el ejercicio de la escritura, la redacción y la comprensión textual. Dejando a un lado la pretensión de buscar especiales cualidades literarias, cuando un alumno hace un

trabajo para nuestro concurso está invirtiendo, casi sin saberlo, en su propia formación verbal. El hecho de configurar una historia, buscar el lenguaje adecuado y someterlo a una disciplina ortográfica y de redacción es ya un objetivo educativo de primer orden para un colegio cuyo principal propósito es la formación integral de la persona. En segundo lugar, el concurso también fomenta el ejercicio de la creatividad. Los alumnos que tie-

nen un marcado talento literario encuentran en nuestro concurso el espacio ideal para desarrollar sus inquietudes”. La temática de los cuentos es libre, debe tratarse de obras inéditas y según su coordinador, “sólo pedimos que sea narración, y, bajo este formato amplio, caben muchas ideas y sugerencias. También limitamos la extensión, porque pretendemos que el alumno sepa adiestrarse en el lenguaje

sugerente de los cuentos; ese bello subgénero en el que se insinúa el mensaje y su final queda abierto, como una invitación al pensamiento que descubre uno por sí mismo. Gracias a estas condiciones, estamos satisfechos de haber leído trabajos de una calidad excelente, y continuamos convencidos de que vamos a seguir recibiendo muchos más”. El jurado está compuesto por personas de reconocido prestigio

cultural. El plazo de entrega de cuentos finaliza el 28 de febrero de 2017 y el fallo del jurado se comunica directamente a los ganadores, quienes recibirán como premio una dotación económica, placa, trofeo, un lote de libros, un ordenador portátil y un ipod o ipad, entre otros. XXIV “José Manuel Álvarez Gil” National Story Competition With the aim of honouring the memory of the school´s founder and increasing literary creativity among young people, Colegio San José has organised the XXIV “José Manuel Álvarez Gil” National Story Competition. The Competition, which has a well-established trajectory and prestige, is warmly welcomed at both public and private schools all around the country, whose pupils can participate in three categories: Primary Education, Secondary Education and High Schools. In the words of its coordinator, the

teacher Mr Juan José Bazán, “the competition aims to encourage writing, drafting and textual understanding. Setting to one side the aim of looking for special literary qualities, when a pupil creates a work for our competition, they are investing, almost without knowing it, in their own verbal training. The creation of a story, searching for the suitable language and subjecting it to orthographic and drafting discipline is now a top-level educational aim for a school shoe main aim is the integral education of pupils. Secondly, the competition also increases the

use of creativity. The pupils that have marked literary talent find our competition to be an ideal space for developing their concerns”. There is no set theme for the stories, they must be unpublished works and according to its coordinator “we only request that it is narration, and, under this extensive format, there is room for lots of ideas and suggestions. We also limit the length, because the aim is for the pupils to train themselves in the use of the suggestive language of stories; that beautiful sub-genre where the message is insinuated and the ending is

open, as an invitation to the thinking that one discovers by themselves. Thanks to these conditions, we are happy to have read works of an excellent quality, and we remain convinced that we will continue to receive many more”. The jury is comprised by people of renowned cultural prestige. The period for submitting stories ends on 28 February and the jury decision will be reported directly to the winners. As a prize, they will receive a cash payment, plaque, trophy, a batch of books, a laptop and an iPod or iPad, among others.

¿Hasta cuándo deben conservarse las facturas y justificantes de su actividad económica? Le recordamos que siempre es conveniente archivar todas las facturas y justificantes que se generen con su actividad comercial o profesional. Pero seguramente se habrá preguntado más de una vez ¿Qué plazos marca la Ley? ¿En qué momento la Agencia Tributaria me puede exigir facturas y desde qué periodos tributarios? Dicho de otro modo, ¿Durante cuánto tiempo está obligado una pyme o autónomo a guardar sus facturas, libros y otro tipo de justificantes de su actividad? El Código de Comercio obliga a conservar durante seis años libros y documentación que generan derechos y obligaciones de la empresa en relación con otras

personas y persiste la obligación aunque cese la actividad empresarial. A esta norma deberán atenerse tanto los empresarios autónomos como las entidades mercantiles, una vez cesada su actividad o disuelta la sociedad. Además debe tenerse en cuenta que la normativa fiscal fija en cuatro años el plazo máximo de prescripción de los impuestos. Pero cuidado, hay otros plazos que no debe olvidar: • Activos.- Las facturas de compra de un activo amortizable deben conservarse hasta que no pueda revisar el ejercicio que haya amortizado totalmente el activo (cuatro años más). • Pérdidas.- Si un ejercicio tiene pérdidas, deberá conservar la

documentación que las acredita durante al menos diez años. • Activos e IVA.- Cuando adquiere inmovilizado para su actividad por imputación superior a 3.005,06 euros, deberá conservar las facturas nueve años si son bienes muebles y catorce si son inmuebles. Por otro lado, La Ley del IVA establece que dichos documentos deberán conservarse durante el plazo de prescripción del impuesto (4 años). Asimismo, el Reglamento por el que se regulan las obligaciones de facturación, establece que deberán conservarse con su contenido original, ordenadamente y durante el plazo que establece la Ley General Tributaria los si-

guientes documentos: • Facturas recibidas. • Copias o matrices de las facturas expedidas. • Los justificantes contables en las operaciones en las que sea de aplicación la inversión del sujeto pasivo cuando el proveedor no esté establecido en la Comunidad. • Los recibos justificativos del reintegro de la compensación del Régimen especial de la Agricultura, Ganadería y Pesca, tanto el original de aquél, por parte de su expedidor, como la copia, por parte del titular de la explotación. • Los documentos acreditativos del pago del impuesto a la Importación.

Prime Invest y OSIM Inversiones presentaron la II Fase de Alcazaba Lagoon; un proyecto que cuenta con una inyección económica de 200 millones de euros. El complejo de lujo, que alberga la primera laguna artificial de toda Europa, lanza la segunda etapa con la construcción de 78 nuevas viviendas en Casares. Alcazaba Lagoon se ha convertido en un referente después de que Prime Invest y OSIM Inversiones hayan logrado reactivar un complejo que había quedado paralizado por la crisis, transformándolo en una solución inmobiliaria que se caracteriza por su profesionalidad y sus altos estándares de calidad.

“No sólo contamos con el apoyo de todas las autoridades de Casares, también hemos reunido a un equipo multidisciplinar que ha proyectado en esta fase un cambio de estilo, más contemporáneo, con líneas más puras, otros volúmenes muy novedosos creados para la vida moderna: domótica, cocinas integradas, muchos y amplios espacios verdes, etc.”, explicó durante la presentación Oscar Lería, uno de los socios fundadores de OSIM junto con Patricio Rojas. Esta inversión ha contribuido a la dinamización de la economía en la zona de Casares, generando 3.000 puestos de trabajo que incluyen tanto el proceso de cons-

trucción y venta, como el mantenimiento de las instalaciones. Alcazaba Lagoon despunta por albergar la primera laguna artificial -desarrollada por Crystal Lagoons- de toda Europa con 1,4 hectáreas de superficie y por innovar con el uso de nuevos conceptos de diseño arquitectónico y de interiorismo en sus viviendas. Situado en la zona más virgen de toda la Costa del Sol, a pocos kilómetros de la playa y rodeado de 8 hectáreas de zonas verdes, el proyecto cuenta con una capacidad constructiva total de 400 viviendas. Con esta fase, se concluye el 50% del total del proyecto que finalizará en un plazo de 4 años.

This investment has helped to dynamise the economy in the Casares area, creating 3,000 jobs that include both the building and

El Casino Admiral San Roque cumplió de manera oficial su primer aniversario desde la reapertura del complejo con un evento por todo lo alto, que duró hasta bien avanzada la madrugada, y que contó con la presencia de alrededor de un millar de asistentes. Una cita para festejar lo positivo de este primer cumpleaños, parte de la primera parte de un ambicioso proyecto de Novomatic para el establecimiento, con un cóctel especial y la actuación de Alejandro Canals, uno de los mayores protagonistas de la última edición de La Voz. DJ Michael Thin se aseguró de que la fiesta continuase pasase la media noche.

Además, como novedad, se inauguró el club de fumadores. Destacar algunos datos relevantes de este último año en Casino Admiral San Roque como el total de afluencia hasta la fecha, superior a las 170.000 personas, algo que permite una media semanal por encima de los 3.000 usuarios. Cifras para estar muy satisfechos, según aseguran desde la entidad, y de encarar con ganas el siguiente curso. Con sólo trece años se es capaz de dar miedo, mucho miedo. Sotogrande cuenta entre sus ilustres vecinos con una emergente estrella en el mundo del cine de terror que a esa corta edad ya sabe lo que es participar en más de un importante proyecto de este género cinematográfico y rodar junto a grandes leyendas como Robert Englund, mucho más conocido por todos por su imborrable papel de ‘Freddie Kruegar’ en la mítica “Pesadilla en Elm Street”. Su nombre es Spike Parsons. Parsons, residente en Sotogrande y que estudia en un conocido colegio bilingüe en la vecina localidad de Estepona, pese a tener tan sólo trecer años suma ya nada menos que dos películas en su currículo: ‘Skull of Sam’ y ‘Midnight March’; además de estar inmerso y trabajando en otros muchos pro-

yectos relacionados con la gran pantalla. Afición al mundo de las cámaras que no le aleja de ser un gran deportista e incluso

de lucir el brazalete de capitán en el equipo infantil de Rugby del Estrecho. Destacar además que Spike ha asistido a la escuela de teatro StageCoach en Marbella desde los 4 años de edad. Recientemente fue presentado al Festival de Sitges su último proyecto en el que estuvo involucrado el joven Spike Parsons. Su nombre es ‘Campfire Creepers’ primera serie de terror de realidad virtual con una visión de 360º protagonizada por el antes citado Robert Englund (‘Freddie Kruegar’ en “Pesadilla en Elm Street”); y dirigida por Alexander Aja. Se celebra en Sotogrande la I Travesía Brazadas Solidarias La actividad reúne a cerca de 300 participantes entre todas las categorías en aguas de la playa de Torreguadiaro 1 Manuel Gil

Alrededor de trescientos nadadores participaron en la I Travesía Brazadas Solidarias en Sotogrande, que se desarrolló en aguas de la playa de Torreguadiaro. Esta competición se encuentra diseñada pensada para recoger fondos para el proyecto de la Fundación Vicente Ferrer en favor de las mujeres de la India con VIH/Sida. La travesía está inscrita en el circuito de esta última organización que se está realizando en distintos puntos de Andalucía y

del resto del territorio nacional desde el pasado mes de junio. Hay que recordar que esta I Travesía Brazadas Solidarias en Sotogrande iba a llevarse a cabo el pasado 6 de agosto, pero el fallecimiento en un accidente en la India de cuatro componentes de la Fundación Vicente Ferrer llevó a su aplazamiento hasta hoy. Se desarrollaron tres pruebas. La primera, de carácter popular, se disputó sobre una distancia de 800 metros; la segunda, titulada “Distancia reina”, cubría 2.500

metros y estaba pensada para los nadadores en mejor forma física; y la última, la “Prueba infantil”, de 300 metros, para los más pequeños. Brazadas Solidarias es una organización solidaria impulsada por el nadador Christian Jongeneel y vinculada a la Fundación Vicente Ferrer. Se dedica a la organización y promoción de eventos deportivos con un cambio de paradigma: prestar más interés a la vertiente social y solidaria del deporte que a la competición.

El Real Club de Golf Sotogrande acogió una de las últimas pruebas del V Desafío de la Fundación Severiano Ballesteros un altísimo nivel de participación, más de 110 parejas disfrutaron de una extraordinaria jornada en el emblemático campo. Además, el torneo se celebró con la colaboración de Cadimar Mercedes Benz. Uno de los grandes alicientes de la competición residía en que el ganador, además del trofeo, se llevaría el premio de participar en la Final Nacional que se celebrará el próximo 28

de octubre en el Real Club de Golf de PEdreña, con dos noches en el Hotel Real y visita al Museo en casa de Severiano Ballesteros. La pareja formada por James Boucher y Glynn Keeling (ganadora handicap); disfrutarán del premio. El premio Scratch fue para la pareja formada por Jaime de Villar y Pedro Marín. Las parejas formads por Juan Gich y Juan Gich Jr.; y Nicholas y George Russo, completaron el podio de premiados. La Bola más cercana (Hoyo 8) fue para Francisco Gasset.

The pair formed by James Boucher and Glynn Keeling (handicap winner) will enjoy the prize. The Scratch prize went to the pair formed by Jaime de Villar and Pedro Marín. The pairs formed by Juan Gich and Juan Gich Jr.; and Nicholas and George Russo, completed the podium of prize winners. The closest Ball to the hole prize (Hole 8) went to Francisco Gasset.
