Un verano feliz y seguro Cuando se encuentra completamente en periodo de despegue, al más alto nivel, la temporada estival y de playas en Sotogrande y el Valle del Gudiaro, llegan los primeros datos sobre el dispositivo de atención, servicios y socorrismo que plantea el Consistorio municipal para esta campaña en la zona. Mayor dotación de recursos y de personal se antoja imprescindible para garantizar la seguridad de los cada vez más bañistas y afluentes en las playas de la zona. Atrás quedó, aunque no hace demasiado de ello, ciertas playas o zonas de la costa en las que el servicio de socorrismo prácticamente brillaba por su ausencia y que difícilmente era posible ver un “bañador rojo” lejos de los días festivos o fines de semana. Es primordial ofrecer un servicio garantista y de calidad a nuestros residentes y visitantes, con gran atención al ciudadano y con todo tipo de equipamientos para personas con movilidad reducida, así como herramientas de índole sanitaria capaz de socorrer cualquier urgencia o imprevisto surgido durante el verano. De poco valen los distintivos de calidad, banderas azules o iniciativas para preservar el mantenimiento y limpieza de las playas si ante cualquier imprevisto los profesionales se encuentran faltos de medios para afrontar una situación de crisis o de peligro para la vida de cualquier bañista o usuario de la playa. La seguridad no es un juego o algo a lo que comercializar o reducir en costes o presupuesto. En las páginas de este periódico encontrarán un exhaustivo informe en el que pueden conocer la dotación municipal para esta temporada. Aún así, como siempre, se recomienda a los bañistas atender a las indicaciones de los socorristas, ser cautos en días en los que la bandera no es verde o no tomar actitudes temerosas que puedan poner en peligro tanto a dicha persona como a otras. Por otro lado, las balizas, este año sí, se encuentran colocadas en tiempo y forma. Esperamos no tener que publicar este año noticias, nuevamente, sobre embarcaciones de recreo que no respetan todas estas señalizaciones y que ponen en peligro con algunas acciones a bañistas y usuarios. Obvio que la playa es de todos pero siempre con el respeto y bajo las restricciones oportunas. Así todos podrán disfrutar de otro excelso verano en Sotogrande que apunta a cifras históricas. En nuestra próxima edición, adelantaremos los primeros datos turísticos de inicio de temporada 2019. Feliz mes de julio.
A happy and safe summer When the summer season and beaches of Sotogrande and Valle del Guadiaro are completely taking-off at the highest level, we have the first data about the assistance, services and lifeguard operation that the municipal Council is providing for this campaign in the area. Greater provision of resources and staff is essential in order to guarantee the safety of the increasing number of bathers and crowds on the beaches in the area. Gone are the days, although not too long ago, when certain beaches or areas on the coast dazzled for the lack of their lifeguard service, and it was difficult to see a “red bathing suit” away from holidays or weekends. It is crucial to offer a service of guarantees and quality to our residents and visitors, with great assistance to citizens and all kinds of facilities for people with reduced mobility, as well as healthcare provisions that can offer assistance urgently or in unforeseen situations that arise during summer. The distinctions of quality, blue flags and initiatives for preserving maintenance and cleanliness on beaches if, in any unforeseen situation the professionals lack the resources to handle a crisis or dangerous situation for the life of any bather or beach user. Safety is not a game or something to market or reduce in terms of costs or budget.. In the pages of this newspaper you will find a rigorous report where it is possible to find out the municipal provisions for this season. Even so, as always, bathers are recommended to comply with the instructions of the lifeguards, be cautious on days when the flag is not green or behave recklessly in a way that could endanger themselves or others. On the other hand, the buoys this year have indeed been fitted on time and correctly. We hope that this year we won´t have to publish more stories about recreational vessels that do not respect these signs and endanger some bathers and beach users with certain actions. Obviously, the beach belongs to everyone, but always with respect and under the relevant restrictions. Thus, everyone can enjoy another magnificent summer in Sotogrande that is heading towards historic figures. In our next edition, we will announce the first tourist data about the start of the 2019 season. Happy July.

Tecleo estas líneas cuando aún resuenan, no muy lejos, los imponentes ‘Drives’ en el Real Club Valderrama por parte de algunos de los mejores golfistas del mundo. Un año más Sotogrande ha podido presumir en todo el planeta (la audiencia potencial del Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters alcanza los cuatrocientos millones de telespectadores en todo el mundo a través de los diferentes formatos de televisión y streaming), de ser el destino soñado para los amantes del golf. El paso agigantado a nivel cualitativo (visitas como las de Jon Rahm, Sergio García, Jorge Campillo, Thomas Bjorn, Olazábal y tantos otros que han regalado grandes momentos durante la edición del torneo 2019), como cuantitativo (con un incremento en patrocinios de relevancia y una bolsa de premios de tres millones de euros), es evidente en el Andalucía Masters. Es de obligado cumplimiento felicitar a toda la organización de un club que no se cansa de dar pasos hacia la excelencia, al propio European Tour y por supuesto, al anfitrión del torneo, Sergio García, que junto con su fundación tanto bien están haciendo en los últimos años por poner en valor este evento deportivo internacional en Sotogrande. Datos positivos, los hay y encontrarán a millones en los próximos días (en nuestras páginas, claro está). ¿Mala fortuna? También aunque eso es incontrolable, como esa ola de calor (que por supuesto no hizo mella ni en el transcurso del torneo, ni la afluencia de público), o la falta de emoción en los hoyos finales por ver quién se llevaba el triunfo. Rahm y Quirós pusieron de su parte, y mucho, algo que agradece el espectador y que fomenta el espectáculo, pero qué quieren que les diga, el sudafricano Christiaan Bezuidenhout estuvo intratable durante todo el fin de semana. En términos generales, un año más, felicitar al Real Club Valderrama y su línea directiva por el éxito de traer a la zona una de las citas más importantes del golf continental. Pero la fortuna que tiene Sotogrande es que ahí no acaba su protagonismo ni su inagotable fuente para emanar deporte del más alto nivel aunque no siempre sepa rentabilizarlo en términos turísticos y económicos. Cuando aún estamos dejando descansar por unos días la bolsa de palos, ya estamos sacando del armario el taco y la bocha para un nuevo Torneo Internacional en Santa María Polo Club (con nuevo festival musical incluido), que pretende hacer desfilar por Sotogrande durante su celebración a más de 100.000 personas. Y si por eso fuese poco, ya se ven más cerca los torneos sociales de golf en diferentes clubes, las regatas, la Doma Clásica, el Salto y tanto deporte de primer nivel que desprende esta zona. Ya que exhibimos en Redes Sociales, más que orgullosos, ese hastag de #ViveValderrama durante la celebración del pasado torneo, yo quiero ir un paso más y sacar pecho por un nuevo eslogan: #ViveElDeporteEnSotogrande Hay mucho por lo que presumir y mucho que contar (para eso estamos nosotros que ya sumamos 20 años como el medio de comunicación líder y de referencia en Sotogrande). Vamos a potenciar todo lo bueno que ocurre en Sotogrande y más aún en verano. Con el apoyo de las administraciones y del tejido empresarial privado, ambos son imprescindibles, logaremos ver desarrollo y crecimiento al nivel que esta zona se merece. Sólo así se consigue el éxito. Y tranquilos que no me olvido, en este primero de julio, de desearles un buen verano. #SportLivesInSotogrande I am typing these lines when, not far away, the stunning strikes of the drives at Real Club Valderrama by some of the best golfers in the world still echo. Once again this year, Sotogrande has been able to boast around the world (the potential audience of the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters totals four hundred million viewers around the world through different television and streaming formats) of being the dream destination of golf lovers. The gigantic step in terms of quality (visits such as those of Jon Rahm, Sergio García, Jorge Campillo, Thomas Bjorn, Olazábal and so many others who gave us great moments during the edition of the 2019 edition) and quantitatively (with an increase in important sponsors and a prize purse of three million Euros), is evident at the Andalucía Masters. We must congratulate all the organisers at a club that never tires of taking steps toward excellence, the European Tour and of course, the tournament host, Sergio García, who along with his foundation has been doing so much good in recent years to showcase this international sporting event in Sotogrande. Positive data, we have and you will find mountains of it over the coming days (in our pages of course). Bad luck? Also, although this is incontrollable, such as the heatwave (which of course didn´t have an impact on the course of the tournament, nor the crowds of spectators), or the lack of excitement in the final holes seeing who was going to take victory. Rahm and Quirós made their contributions, and big ones, which spectators enjoy and which boost the spectacle, but what can I say, the South African Christiaan Bezuidenhout was unbeatable during the entire weekend. Generally speaking, once again this year, I want to congratulate Real Club Valderrama and its management for the success of bringing one of the most important events in continental golf to the area. However, the luck of Sotogrande is that its starring role doesn´t end there, nor its endless capacity to offer sport of the highest level, even if it isn´t always able to capitalise on it in terms of tourism and economically. Just as we are setting down our bag of golf clubs for a few days, we are already getting out the mallet and ball for a new International Tournament at Santa María Polo Club (with a new music festival included), which aims to get more than 100,000 people coming through Sotogrande during its celebration. And as if that wasn´t enough, we are approaching the social golf tournaments at different clubs, the regattas, Classic Dressage, Show Jumping and so much top-level sport that this area offers. As we exhibited, very proudly, the hashtag #ViveValderrama on Social Networks during the celebration of the last tournament, I want to take a step further and puff out our chest with a new slogan: #SportLivesInSotogrande There is a lot to be proud of and a lot to recount (that is why we are here, and we have now amassed 20 years as the leading media outlet and a benchmark in Sotogrande). We are going to promote everything good that happens in Sotogrande and even more so in summer. With the support of the administrations and the private business community, both are essential, we will manage to see development and growth at the level that this area deserves. Success is only achieved in that way. And don´t worry, I haven´t forgotten, on the first of July, I want to wish you a good summer. Las playas locales de Cala Sardina, Torrecarbonera y Torreguadiaro cuentan ya con el distintivo presente y revalidan así su alta calidad en servicio del verano pasado. En titularidad privada, el Puerto de Sotogrande también cuenta con el galardón.

Las Banderas Azules con las que fueron galardonadas este año las playas de Cala Sardina, Torrecarbonera y Torreguadiaro, se izaron en acto oficial, presidido por el teniente de alcalde Juan Manuel Ordóñez. San Roque vuelve en 2019 a contar con tres playas con banderas azules: Alcaidesa-Faro (Torrecarbonera), Torreguadiaro y Cala Sardina. Puerto Sotogrande sigue
con su bandera azul, si bien se trata de una instalación de titularidad privada. Asimismo, el Aula de la Naturaleza del Pinar del Rey también mantiene su distinción como Centro Azul. Desde el Ayuntamiento se destacó que, tras recuperarse el año pasado la bandera azul que había perdido Torrecarbonera, en 2019 se mantienen todas las que ondearon en 2018. Hay que
recordar que estas distinciones suponen un reclamo para los turistas y también un reconocimiento al esfuerzo municipal en materia de playas, así como el trabajo de cuidado y educación ambiental que se realiza en el Pinar del Rey. También se ha felicitado a Puerto Sotogrande por su constante trabajo para mantener la excelencia de sus instalaciones.
Las banderas azules se conceden no sólo por la calidad de las aguas y por la limpieza de la arena de las playas, sino también por contar con servicios de socorrismo, salvamento y atención sanitaria y, también, por disponer de suficientes módulos de servicios y mobiliario como duchas, papeleras y pasarelas. Ordóñez señaló en el acto de izada de la Bandera Azul en To-
rreguadiaro que “la bandera azul certifica el cumplimiento de una serie de obligaciones y este año contamos de nuevo con tres Banderas, en las playas de Cala Sardina y Torreguadiaro, y en el Puerto Deportivo de Sotogrande”. El edil también felicitó a Puerto Sotogrande porque realiza un esfuerzo que redunda positivamente en la imagen de todo el municipio.

Blue Flags raised on beaches in area • Beaches of Cala Sardina, Torrecarbonera and Torreguadiaro now have the distinction in place and thus revalidate their high quality in service last summer. • Privately owned, Sotogrande Port also has the distinction. The Blue Flags that were awarded this year to the beaches of Cala Sardina, Torrecarbonera and Torreguadiaro, were raised in an official act, presided over by the deputy mayor Juan Manuel Ordóñez. In 2019 San Roque once again has three beaches with blue flags: Alcaidesa-Faro (Torrecarbonera), Torreguadiaro and Cala Sardina. Sotogrande Port has retained its blue flag, although it is a privately owned facility. Likewise, the Nature Classroom of Pinar del Rey has also maintained its distinction as a Blue Centre. The Council highlighted that, last year after recovering the blue flag that Torrecarbonera lost, in 2019 all the flags that flew in 2018 are still flying. It is
necessary to remember that these distinctions are an attraction for tourists and also a recognition for the municipal effort on beaches as well as the care and environmental educational work that is carried out in Pinar del Rey. Sotogrande Port was also congratulated for its ongoing work to maintain the excellence of its facilities. Blue flags are not only awarded for the quality of water and the cleanliness of the sand of the beaches, but also for having lifeguard, lifesaving and medical assistance, and also for having enough units for services and furniture such as showers, bins and walkways. At the act for the raising of the Blue Flag in Torreguadiaro,
Ordóñez stated that the “blue flag certifies compliance with a series of obligations and this year we once again have three

ted Sotogrande Port because it makes an effort that has a positive impact on the entire municipality.

“Planeamos una renovación total del Old Course” Manuel Gil Encantado de saludarle y de tenerle en la zona. San Roque Club es una de las entidades más emblemáticas y significativas de Sotogrande, uno de los destinos vinculados al golf más exclusivos del sur de Europa. ¿Qué les llevó a realizar su apuesta por el complejo? Como acaba de comentar, el San Roque Club posee un largo historial y llegó a tener una reputación considerable como una de las mejores instalaciones golfísticas de Europa. Nuestra intención es hacer que San Roque recupere su lugar correspondiente en el mundo del golf.

Planeamos llevar a cabo una renovación total del Old
restaurante y la terraza exterior. Dará comienzo a principios de julio. ¿En qué plazo cree que estarán finalizados estos trabajos? Si todo va según lo planeado, la renovación del campo de golf habrá terminado en noviembre de 2020, la academia de golf en mayo del mismo año y la casa club en noviembre.

Imagen de la Sanidad Pública y Contabilidad Hace unos días una vecina de Sotogrande me contaba su última peripecia sanitaria: un tonto tropezón dio con ella en tierra con el consiguiente susto y magulladuras pero sin aparentes daños mayores; acudió al Hospital de La Línea; allí le detectaron unas mini-fracturas en el húmero y la operaron implantándole unas prótesis artificiales. Hasta ahí todo, digamos, normal: el hospital nuevecito y el personal sanitario amabilísimo ¡estaba como niña con zapatos nuevos! Pero su asombro radicaba no tanto en la eficacia y modernidad de la resolución quirúrgica sino en que, días más tarde, había recibido una carta de la S.S. en la que, con todo detalle -cual si se tratase de la factura de un taller de reparacionesse expresaban uno por uno toda la suerte de artilugios que le habían implantado. Al escucharla recordé mi encontronazo, hace casi 50 años (¡cómo pasa la vida!) con la entonces novísima contabilidad de costes, cuya peculiaridad permite llegar a saber con minucioso detalle todos y cada uno de los costes de cualquier proceso productivo ya sea de un Bien o de un Servicio cualquiera. Después, durante toda mi vida profesional he presenciado cómo La Banca ha implantado dicha contabilidad de costes en todos sus procesos. Todavía me acuerdo cómo se quejaban los interventores de las sucursales porque les obligaban a llevar el control no solo de los bolígrafos o del papel consumidos sino que «la fiebre de datos» llegaba ¡Válgame dios, hasta la cuantificación del gasto en papel higiénico! Está claro que la Seguridad Social, como Organismo Público que es (Ahí precisamente radica su valor), no ha de regirse por criterios puramente economicistas cual si fuera un banco pero eso no quita que sería bueno que les explicara a los atendidos no sólo la serie de elementos que les ha implantado sino qué, además, les añadiese -a título informativo- el coste del servicio. Así, los pacientes, podríamos apreciar mejor el benéfico retorno de las cuotas abonadas. ¡Claro qué! aún y todo, «el mayor beneficio quedaría siempre sin cuantificar» ¿Cómo se cuantifica la inexistencia de interés crematístico, cómo se valora la verdadera independencia de criterio? Todos sabemos que la medicina privada tiende a incrementar los tratamientos, las estancias e incluso las intervenciones en aras a aumentar los beneficios no sólo de la salud del paciente sino también del bolsillo de los dueños de la clínica. Arranca el mes de julio y con él los 62 días más efervescentes y trascendentales para buena parte del tejido comercial y económico de todo Sotogrande y el Valle del Guadiaro. Vecinos, residentes y visitantes se concentran en las semanas más demandadas del calendario y Sotogrande adquiere un nivel de referencia único como urbanización exclusiva y protectora del lujo y el estilo de vida. Una vez más, reivindicamos la importancia de la imagen y las formas. La iniciativa de los contenedores para los restos orgánicos no consigue combatir con totalidad que en pleno Paseo del Parque, uno de los puntos más transitados estos días en la urbanización, sigamos viendo imágenes de este tipo y con asiduidad. Algo a lo que prestar más atención, si es posible, por parte de las entidades competentes, de manera especial en este tramo del año del que tanto depende la imagen de Sotogrande.
Image of Public Health and Accounting Some days ago, a resident from Sotogrande told me about her latest healthcare experience; a stupid trip left her on the ground with the subsequent scare and bruising but without any apparent more serious damage; she went to Hospital de La Línea, there they detected mini-fractures to her humerus and she was operated on, and artificial prostheses were implanted. Thus far, everything was, shall we say, normal: the new hospital and very friendly healthcare staff, she was like a child with new shoes! However, her amazement was not so much due to the efficiency and modernity of the surgical solution but rather that, days later, she received a letter, in which, in complete detail -as if it were an invoice from a repair workshop- it outlined one by one all the types of contraptions that had been implanted. Listening to her, I remembered my clash, almost 50 years ago (how life flies!) with the then extremely new cost accounting, whose peculiarity makes it possible to know in meticulous detail each and every one of the costs of any production process, whether an Asset or any kind of Service. Subsequently, during my entire professional life, I have witnessed how the Bank has implemented this cost accounting in all of its processes. I still remember how the accountants of the branches complained because they were obliged to control not only the pens and paper consumed but also the “data fever”, they even, my goodness, had to quantify expenditure on toilet paper! It is clear that Social Security, as the Public Body that it is (therein precisely resides its value) should not be governed by purely economic criteria as if it were a bank but the fact remains that it would be good to explain to patients assisted not only the series of elements implanted, but also, to add -for information purposes- the cost of the service. Thus, patients could better appreciate the beneficial return of the fees paid. Of course, even so, “the greatest benefit would always remain unquantifiable”. How is it possible to quantify the lack of financial interest, how is the true independent judgement valued? We all know that private medicine tends to increase treatments, stays and even operations in order to increase the benefits, not only of the health of the patient but also of the wallets of the owners of the clinic. The initiative of the containers for organic waste has not fully managed to combat the fact that right in the heart of Paseo del Parque, one of the busiest points at present in the resort, we continue to see these kinds of images and regularly. It is something that, if possible, the competent entities should pay more attention to, especially during this period of the year that the image of Sotogrande is so dependent on.

El edil confía en que “los usuarios de las playas colaboren y depositen en este pez las botellas y envases de plástico, que no se olviden nada en la arena y depositen los residuos en el pez, que ha quedado muy simpático”. This is an initiative to raise awareness of the importance of recycling. With the aim of encouraging recycling, the Council of San Roque installed a gigantic fish on Torreguadiaro beach, where people can help to fill it with plastic bottles. Progressively, it will be installed on other beaches in the municipality. The Environmental delegate,
Juan Serván stated that “it will be a visual attraction and also help to keep beaches clean at a time when many people visit them”. The councillor is confident that “beach users will collaborate and deposit plastic bottles and containers in them, ensuring they leave nothing behind in the sand and deposit waste in the fish, which looks really nice”. The frame of the fish is made from wire and rope, which will facilitate the collection of plastic bottles.

The person for whom everything is going well, they will get their lesson in life, soon... Not all the statements will have to do with the problem in question but they will relate to the feelings you may be experiencing through it. If you feel comfortable and satisfied identifying with at least three of the statements, then definitively, Mediation is not a good option for you.

Presupuestos demorados Si los Presupuestos Generales del Estado (PGE) son el eje de la vida parlamentaria, en una situación política de bloqueo su importancia es aún mayor. Pedro Sánchez tuvo que convocar elecciones porque no tenía los apoyos suficientes para aprobar los PGE de 2019. Y acaba de insistir en la necesidad de unos nuevos Presupuestos, y de formar para ello un Gobierno cuanto antes: “España no se puede parar, no se debe parar. España necesita un Gobierno en el mes de julio”. Es una clara exageración, porque un país no es un Estado, y España no se detiene si el Gobierno no queda constituido formalmente en las próximas semanas. De hecho, España tampoco se detendría si el

No está claro que

Bebidas alcohólicas y menores de edad
Preservar la buena imagen, conducta y desarrollo en las nuevas generaciones no deja de ser, más allá de las regularizaciones y normativas de las diferentes administraciones e instituciones públicas, un deber y una obligación de la sociedad civil con sus propios integrantes. Una responsabilidad compartida entre los organismos públicos y la propia conformidad de los integrantes de dicha sociedad. Es decir, todos somos responsables de las generaciones del mañana. Más allá de las buenas palabras y expresiones que encabezan este artículo queremos dedicar desde El Periódico de Sotogrande, a través de estas líneas de opinión, unos breves minutos a la reflexión y la responsabilidad que todos tenemos con las futuras generaciones.

Diferentes informaciones a las que ha tenido acceso este periódico señalan que la venta y consumo de bebidas alcohólicas en varios establecimientos ubicados dentro de la propia urbanización de Sotogrande así como en las barriadas, a menores de edad no es algo extraordinario o esporádico, ni mucho menos, más bien lo contrario. Algo que no deja de preocupar a numerosos padres y vecinos, como así nos lo han traslado a nuestra redacción, por la intranquilidad que este tipo de cuestiones plantean en numerosas familias afincadas en nuestro querido y bendito entorno. Obvio que la legislación actual es meridianamente clara en ello, como así lo conocen todos los esta-
blecimientos sujetos a ella; pero también cuenta con un importante componente de educación, compromiso y responsabilidad en lo referente a la otra parte y que atañe a todas las familias y al conjunto de la sociedad. Saber qué se puede, qué no, qué es aconsejable y qué consecuencias acarrean muchos actos va más allá y adquiere aún más importancia que el propio hecho, el castigo o la regulación administrativa al respecto. Educar a nuestros jóvenes y hacerles saber lo que supone y las consecuencias que derivan del consumo de alcohol, más aún en edades tan tempranas es una responsabilidad compartida por todos y no debemos dejar de plantearlo y recordarlo a diario. Más allá, también está en las autoridades competentes permanecer atentas a todas estas situaciones y vigilar que no se produzcan. De cualquier modo queremos lanzar estas líneas para que al menos, estas situaciones dejen de producirse en lo que también es una obligación y deber nuestro como medio de comunicación y parte de la sociedad y comunidad que vive y reside en Sotogrande y todo el Valle del Guadiaro. Informar y dar conocimiento de ello.
Alcoholic drinks and minors Preserving the good image, behaviour and development of the new generations, in addition to the rules and legislation of different administrations and public institutions, is a duty and an obligation of civil society to its own members. This is a responsibility shared between public bodies and the consent of the members of society. That is to say, we are all responsible for the generations of tomorrow. Beyond the good words and expressions heading this article, at El Periódico de Sotogrande, through these opinion lines, we want to devote a few minutes to reflection and the responsibility that we all have towards future generations. Different information that this newspaper has had access to shows that the sale to minors and underage consumption of alcohol in several establishments located in Sotogrande resort as well as in neighbourhoods, is nothing extraordinary or sporadic, quite the contrary in fact. This is a matter of concern for many parents and residents, who have conveyed this to our editorial team, due to the unease that these matters cause in several families who reside in our beloved and blessed area. It is obvious that current legislation is very clear on this matter, as all the establishments subject to it are fully aware; but there is also a significant component of education, commitment and responsibility in relation to the other part, and which concerns all families and society as a whole. Knowing what can be done, what cannot, what is advisable and what consequences are caused by many acts goes further, and is of greater importance than the act itself, punishment or the administrative regulation on the matter. Educating our young people and making them aware what it entails and the consequences deriving from the consumption of alcohol, and even more so at early ages is a responsibility shared by everyone and we must not stop presenting the matter and reminding people on a daily basis. Additionally, the competent authorities must also be attentive to all these situations and ensure they do not occur. In any case, we want to issue these lines so that at least, these situations will stop occurring in what is also an obligation and duty for us as a media outlet and the part of society and the community that lives and resides in Sotogrande and all of Valle del Guadiaro. We must report and raise awareness of this issue.

Este servicio estará activo desde el 29/06/2019 hasta 01/09/2019. Public transport reinforces coverage during summer period • The consortium of transport and Socibus will maintain their regular timetable during months of July and August. • Until September, a special service is running to Torreguadiaro beach The transport services will operate completely normally during the summer period. Bearing in mind the flow of visitors to the area, the Transport Consortium of Campo de Gibraltar has not removed any service on the lines connecting La Línea and San Roque. The M-230 line, covering the journey from La Línea de la Concepción to San Roque, begins its service at 7 in the morning, with stops at Puente Mayorga and Campamento, and ends at 10 pm, with an approximate duration of half an hour. The return buses begin at 7.30 am and end at 10.30 pm. The journey price is 1.50 Euros for a single ticket, 0.92 Euros if you have a consortium card. Arranca en en el municipio de San Roque el plazo voluntario para el pago del IBI
M. Gil El periodo para el pago voluntario del Impuesto de Bienes Inmuebles (IBI) Urbana y de Naturaleza Rústica se encuentra abierta desde el 1 de julio en San Roque y finalizará el próximo 11 de octubre, según informó la Delegación de Economía y Hacienda. Para el presente ejercicio de 2019, el Ayuntamiento de San Roque aprobó el año pasado bajar el tipo impositivo al 0,40 de la base catastral, introduciendo también una bonifica-
ción para las familias con menos recursos que residan de alquiler en viviendas públicas. De esta manera, el IBI en San Roque se sitúa en el mínimo que permite la Ley, siendo así de los más bajos de toda España. Hay que recordar que en 2017 se colocaba en el 0,47, pasando al 0,42 en 2018 y ahora en el 0,40. Se anima a realizar el pago dentro del período voluntario antes del 11 de octubre para evitar el correspondiente re-
cargo. Además, se recuerda a los contribuyentes que se encuentren afectados por el pago de este impuesto, que pueden recoger los dípticos en la Oficina de Recaudación, en la Plaza de Andalucía, y en la Alcaldía de Guadiaro, en horario de 9 a 14 horas, de lunes a viernes.

Torreguadiaro se viste de gala en el mes de julio. Desde el viernes 12 hasta el martes 16 de julio se desarrollará la tradicional feria, en la que los locales vivirán unos días de fiesta y convivencia. El viernes se procederá a la apertura de la Caseta Municipal, a las 21.30 horas, donde un venenciador dará la bienvenida al público asistente. Acto seguido, se procederá a la Coronación de las reinas juvenil e infantil, tras la cual se dará inicio oficialmente a las fiestas. Unas fiestas en la que desta-
can una comida de las mujeres en la Caseta Municipal el sábado 13 de julio a las 14.00 horas y una degustación de paella el domingo a la misma hora con actuaciones rocieras como acompañamiento. El lunes, los más pequeños serán los protagonistas, con una fiesta infantil acuática a las 17.00. Por su parte, los más veteranos tendrán la oportunidad de realizar una cena de convivencia a las 21.00 horas. Las fiestas de Torreguadiaro finalizan el martes 16, con varios actos. A las 19.00 horas,
empezará la procesión de la Virgen del Carmen, seguida de la Misa Rociera a las 21.00. A las 22.30, en la caseta municipal, se hará una sardinada popular, y los festejos culminarán con los fuegos artificiales desde la playa como colofón a unos días de alegría y convivencia.

An event to get you pulsating and dancing to the sound of one of the most beloved artists on the Spanish music scene. Another of the main groups will

Manuel Gil Una feria más, para el recuerdo de todos los guadiareños y vecinos del Valle del Guadiaro. El pistoletazo de salida a las Fiestas de 2019 lo dio la coronación de Elena Muñoz y Africa Ruiz como reinas juvenil e infantil de la Feria de Guadiaro 2019. Los actos comenzaron con la bienvenida a la caseta municipal a cargo del venenciador y con la propia coronación, que además contó con el pregón de Noelia Gavilán Domínguez; el reconocimiento a Oscar y Dani, y también a Paco Trujillano, su mujer y sus hijos, que durante años han formado parte de la Comisión de Fiestas de la barriada; y la actua-
ción de la cantante María Carrasco. El jueves, inicio temprano con la diana floreada a ritmo de pasodobles y sevillanas y gran colorido con la tradicional cabalgata de feria, con pasacalles, charangas, batucadas, carrusel de caballos y carrozas. Para terminar con el tradicional encendido y música y buen ambiente en la Caseta Municipal. Los más pequeños disfrutaron el viernes de la fiesta infantil y mucha música en directo en la tarde-noche en la Caseta Municipal. Más actividad para los reyes de la casa la vivida el sábado con una nueva Fiesta Infantil acuática, con concursos, Ani-
maciones, bailes, Pintacaras, Juegos, Castillos, Deslizador acuático y mucho más en el Paseo de los Canos. Más tarde, Almuerzo del Joven de Ayer y toda la música en la Municipal. El broche llegó el domingo con la Misa Rociera en la Parroquia de la Virgen del Rosario de Guadiaro, el posterior almuerzo tradicioal de cada Domingo Rociero con el paseo de las cortes infantil y juvenil y varias actuaciones en directo a la espera de la caída de la noche y los fuegos artificiales como colofón.

Guadiaro enjoys and has fun with his Fair One of the most eagerly-awaited events of the year fills the neighbourhood with colour, festivity and a good atmosphere over a weekend full of emotions
Another fair, to be remembered by all the people of Guadiaro and the residents of Valle del Guadiaro. The start of the Fiestas of 2019 came with the crowning of Elena Muñóz and Africa Ruiz as the youth and child queens of the 2019 Guadiaro Fair. The events began with the welcome to the municipal booth by the venenciador (sherry pourer) and with the coronation, which also had the proclamation of Noelia Gavilán Domíguez; the recognition of Oscar and Dani, and also of Paco Trujillano, his wife and children, who for years have formed part of the Festival Committee of the nei-
ghbourhood; and the performance of the singer María Carrasco. There was an early start on Thursday with the trumped reveille to the rhythm of pasodobles and sevillanas and lots of colour with the traditional fair parade, with passacaglia, brass bands, percussion, and a carousel of horses and carts. It finished with the traditional switching on of lights and music and a good atmosphere at the Municipal Booth. On Friday, the little ones enjoyed a children´s party and live music in the evening-night at the Municipal Booth. There was more activity for the kings of the home on Sa-
turday with another Children´s water party with competition, entertainment, dances, face painting, games, bouncy castles, a water slide and lots more on Paseo de los Canos. Later, there was the Lunch of the Youth of Yesteryear and all the music at the Municipal Booth. The finishing touch came on Sunday with the Rocío Mass in the Parish of the Virgin of the Rosary of Guadiaro, the subsequent traditional lunch of each Rocío Sunday with the passing of the children and youth courts and several live performances, ahead of nightfall and the fireworks as the culminating point.

• Las llamas producidas dentro del polígono industrial de Guadarranque, en el almacenaje de mil toneladas de PTA , provocan la alarma social ante una impresionante columna de humo negro visible en toda la Comarca. • Las autoridades insisten en que dicho material “no tiene ninguna cuestión tóxica para la población” aunque sí estaría emitiendo “partículas negras” a la atmósfera. • Casi un centenar de efectivos de emergencias trabajan durante una tensa jornada en la bahía industrial de San Roque; para controlar el fuego se necesitó más de cuatro horas.
Aparatoso incendio en la planta de Indorama M. Gil El incendio se produjo pasadas las 15 horas (del 25 de junio) en el polígono industrial de Guadarranque, en naves de almacenamiento de la empresa Indorama, la antigua Interquisa. Durante toda la jornada se produjo una gran alarma social en toda la Comarca (el incendio podía contemplarse desde prácticamente todos los puntos de la misma, hay fotos incluso desde Ceuta), debido a la impactante columna de humo negro que originó la calcinación de más de 1000 toneladas de producto PTA en polvo, Acido Isoftálico, no PET, almacenadas en las instalaciones. Resaltar que el PTA es una especie de harina, almacenadas en sacas de una tonelada. Aún no se conoce cuál es la causa que provocó el incendio. El alcalde de San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, explicó “la actuación inmediata por parte del cuerpo de bomberos propio de la empresa, que movilizó
más de 40 efectivos, al que se sumó también el Consorcio Provincial de Bomberos, con 22 agentes con varios camiones y varias bombas pesadas de toda la comarca, y del resto de la provincia, y bomberos del grupo Cepsa, con dos camiones”. Agradeció el alcalde a “otras instituciones que se han ofrecido a colaborar, principalmente la Autoridad Portuaria Bahía de Algeciras, Ayuntamiento de Los Barrios, y de otras instituciones como la Junta de Andalucía y en este caso el 112, que está realizado tareas de coordinación y ha aprobado en Plan de Emergen-
cia Exterior del sector químico”. Explicó el alcalde que “lo que hay ahora mismo en la atmósfera son las emisiones de partículas negras de la combustión, más CO2 y agua. “Los primeros riesgos era el que no se propagara el incendio a ninguna otra nave o a ninguna otra unidad, y para que veamos que no ha sido necesario activar el Plan de Emergencia Municipal, indicar que las plantas cercanas han estado produciendo al nivel habitual, porque era aún más peligroso el paralizarlo”, indicó Ruiz Boix. Explicó el alcalde que “si hubiese habido un peligro, se hu-
biera paralizado la actividad, lo que hubiera conllevado la generación de otras emisiones que se han evitado, ya que el incendio ha estado controlado en la primera hora del mismo”. Agradeció a todos los efectivos que han estado trabajando y que continúan trabajando en el incendio “para que no haya habido ningún tipo de incidencia personal, ya que únicamente conocemos por parte de la empresa que hay dos personas heridas de carácter leve, afectadas por la cantidad de humo, que han sido atendidas por el Servicio Médico de la empresa y que están ahora mismo en alguno de los hospita-
les públicos de la comarca”. Indicó que “pese a que algunos han intentado confundir, el material no es PET, es PTA, Acido Tereftálico o ácido Isostálico, que no tiene ninguna cuestión tóxica para la población, por lo que quiero transmitir prudencia a la población y no generar alarmismos”. Se activó el Plan de Emergencia Exterior del Sector Químico de la Junta de Andalucía por parte del 112, para contar con mayores recursos técnicos y humanos en la extinción del incendio, sobre todo por mantener una localización más cercana de los mismos.

Dramatic fire at Indorama plant The fire took place after 3 pm (on 25 June) at the industrial estate of Guadarranque, in storage warehouses of the company Indorama, formerly Interquisa. During the entire day, there was great social alarm in the entire Province (the fire could be seen from practically everywhere within it, there are even photos from Ceuta), due to the striking column of black smoke that was caused by the burning of more than 1000 tonnes of powdered PTA product, Isophthalic acid, not PET, stored at the facilities. It should be emphasised that PTA is a type of flour, stored in one tonne sacks. The cause of the fire is still unknown. The mayor of San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, explained “the immediate action by the company´s own team of fire-fighters, which mobilised 40 members, who were also joined by the Provincial Consortium of Fi-
re-fighters, with 22 agents with several trucks and several heavy pumps from all over the province, and the rest of the province, and fire fighters from Cepsa group, with two trucks”. The mayor thanked the “other institutions that have offered to collaborate, mainly the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras, the Council of Los Barrios, and other institutions such as the Regional Government of Andalusia, and in this case the 112, which is carrying out coordination tasks and has approved the Exterior Emergency Plan of the chemical sector”. The mayor explained that “what there is right now in the atmosphere is the emissions of black particles of combustion, as well as CO2 and water. “The first risk was ensuring that the fire didn´t spread to any other warehouse or any other unit, and to see that it wasn´t necessary to acti-
vate the Municipal Emergency Plan, it should be indicated that nearby plants have been producing at the regular level, because it was even more dangerous to stop production” stated Ruiz Boix. The mayor explained that “if there was danger, activity would have been stopped which would have resulted in the generation of other emissions which have been avoided, as the fire was controlled within the first hour of it”.
He thanked all the agents who have been working and continue to work on the fire “to ensure that there were staff incidents, as we only know from the company that there are two people who are slightly injured, affected by the amount of smoke, who were attended to by the company´s Medical Service and right know they are at one of the public hospitals in the province”. He stated that “despite the fact that some people have tried to confuse,
the material isn´t PET, it is PTA, Terephthalic acid, and in no way is it toxic to the population, therefore I want to convey caution to the population and not generate alarm”. The Exterior Emergency Plan of the Chemical Industry of the Regional Government of Andalusia was activated by the 112, in order to have more technical and human resources at the extinguishing of the fire, especially due to their location closer to it.

La celebraición del Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters supuso una nueva ocasión, este año con el cambio de fecha del torneo a finales de junio, de ver desfinar a numerosos rostros conocidos de Sotogrande entre los alcornoques del mítico campo. Se trata de una iniciativa con la que Rahm colabora, de la mano de los hijos de Severiano Ballesteros, para fomentar el golf entre los más jóvenes y además ayudar en diferentes causas benéficas.

Comienzan los cursos de verano Han comenzado los cursos de verano del colegio San José en sus sedes de Estepona y Marbella. Los participantes, desde los 3 a los 16 años, pueden disfrutar de unas vacaciones en las que la felicidad, la diversión y el aprendizaje orientan todas las actividades que se desarrollarán entre el 1 y el 31 de julio. Todos los cursos utilizan como lengua vehicular tanto el inglés como el castellano y constituyen una ocasión óptima para desarrollar habilidades intelectuales, sociales y personales: creatividad, cooperación, investigación, toma de decisiones, resolución de problemas…
Los pequeños disfrutan del Curso Infantil, que incluye natación, teatro, juegos educativos, psicomotricidad y manualidades, entre otras actividades, utilizando el inglés como lengua vehicular impartido por profesores bilingües y nativos que pertenecen al equipo docente del colegio. Para niños de 7 a 12 años el curso Multiactividad ofrece una gran variedad de actividades como rocódromo, ciclismo, excursiones, juegos de playa, deportes y aventuras… En Robótica, combinado con inglés y deporte, los participantes desarrollan la creativi-
dad, la intuición, la capacidad de análisis, la lógica y la habilidad para la resolución de problemas, la investigación y el trabajo en equipo; Cherokee Camp es un campamento bilingüe en el que los más intrépidos disfrutan con las luchas entre indios y vaqueros en el
Parque Natural de Sierra Tejada, Alhama y Almijara, practicando tiro con arco, equitación, escaladas, miniquads... Los mayores, de 12 a 16 años, con Deporte, pueden combinar la práctica de un deporte favorito (tenis o pádel) con inglés y natación.
Todas estas actividades se desarrollan entre el 1 y el 31 de julio, siendo posible inscribirse por quincenas o durante el mes completo. El colegio cuenta con un servicio de transporte que abarca desde Marbella (Elviria) hasta La Línea de la Concepción.

El 1 de Julio de 2019 la Agencia Tributaria puso en marcha la campaña del Impuesto de Sociedades correspondiente al ejercicio 2018. El Impuesto de Sociedades grava la renta de las sociedades y demás entidades residentes en todo el territorio español. Deben presentar declaración del IS aunque no hayan desarrollado actividades durante el periodo impositivo o no hayan obtenido rentas sujetas al impuesto, como regla general. Son residentes en territorio español las entidades en las que se cumpla alguno de los siguientes requisitos: • Que se hubiese constituido conforme a las leyes españolas. • Que tengan su domicilio social en territorio español. • Que tengan la sede de dirección efectiva en territorio español (cuando en el radique la dirección y control del conjunto de actividades). Son contribuyentes del IS las personas jurídicas (excepto las sociedades civiles que no tengan objeto mercantil) y determinadas entidades, aunque no tengan personalidad jurídica. Se incluyen a las siguientes entidades con personalidad jurídica propia: • Sociedades mercantiles (anónimas de responsabilidad limitadas, colectivas, laborales. • Sociedades civiles con objeto mercantil desde el 1 de Enero de 2016. • Sociedades estatales, autonómicas, provinciales y locales. • Sociedades Cooperativas. • Sociedades Unipersonales. • Sociedades Agrarias de Transformación. • Asociaciones, fundaciones e instituciones tanto públicas como privadas y los entes públicos.

The Corporate Tax is levied on the revenue of companies and other entities residing in all of the Spanish territory. Comunidad New Orleans Jump Band: 30 años haciendo bailar a Sotogrande • El mítico grupo, cuyos orígenes se remontan al inicio de los 90 en la urbanización, vuelven a reencontrarse el 7 y 8 de julio para ofrecer tres actuaciones en algunos de los establecimientos más emblemáticos de Sotogrande y en los que más veces han actuado. • La banda suma más de 2.000 conciertos en su trayectoria profesional con conciertos por toda España, además de innumerables visitas a Inglaterra, Escocia, Bruselas, Budapest o África.
Manuel Gil Sólo basta con escuchar unas pocas notas, el inicio de alguna de sus más que reconocibles melodías para que los pies se disparen solos y se muevan al más puro ritmo del jazz. Y es que la música también cuenta con un renglón muy importante en la historia de oro de Sotogrande y si hay un sello que ha llevado el nombre de Sotogrande por numerosos rincones del mapa y hecho bailar a toda la urbanización es: New Orleans Jump Band. Lo que comenzó siendo el alocado sueño, la afición y el hobby de tres alocados y melómanos profesores del Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande, allá por el año 1990; treinta años después se ha convertido en más de 2.000 actuaciones por todo el mapa nacional y decenas de festivales internacionales de Jazz en todo el mundo. New Orleans Jump Band es
toda una institución a nivel nacional e internacional en su género musical y toda una referencia para nuevos grupos que ahora aparecen. Esos inconfundibles pantalones blancos, camisas estampadas y el buen ambiente que desprenden llevan décadas haciendo bailar a Sotogrande, y desde Sotogrande, a miles de personas. El grupo, formado por Mike Izatt (banjo y armónica), Stewart Napier (clarinete), David Gurudi (trompeta), Andy Peacock (trombón) y Jonas Molbeck (saxofón), vuelve a reunirse dentro de unos días (tras dejar de actuar en 2017), para tocar de nuevo en tres pases que difícilmente se repetirán en la zona hasta dentro de bastante tiempo. Pero antes de eso, repasamos un poco su historia. El núcleo del grupo apareció en 1990 con la unión de tres profesores del Colegio de So-
togrande, en buena parte, animados por su amor a la música y la iniciativa de preparar algo en la zona; así lo narra Mike Izzat, uno de sus componentes más queridos y reconocidos en la urbanización. Ello les llevó a conseguir algunas actuaciones hasta convertirse en unos fijos del famoso Rudi’s en Estepona. Ahí es dónde el grupo toma nombre y fuerza, llegando a sumar hasta siete componentes y deja a un lado sus versiones de los años 60’s y rock para centrarse únicamente en el jazz. Lo que les propicia una fama notable. Y es ahí cuando comienzan a viajar por toda España y parte de Europa. Conciertos, bodas y eventos (algunos con anécdotas y personas muy importantes que no pueden revelar, según explican a este medio), les da para escribir un libro con grandes momentos vividos; hasta que en 2005 la banda pega un salto definitivo. Hartos
de cargar con pesados equipos se convierten en un grupo acústico; una evolución que mejoró aún más su sonido y disparó su fama en festivales internacionales de su género. Los kilómetros, los años y la carga añadida de ser una afición que les ocupaba casi todo su tiempo libre y fines de semana los empuja, tristemente, a dejar de actuar en el año 2017; incluso separándose tres miembros del grupo se marcharon a vivir fuera, respectivamente, a Escocia, Inglaterra y China. El año pasado, una invitación del Festival Internacional de Jazz en Birmingham propició una nueva reunión de la banda que conllevó nada menos que ocho actuaciones en muy poco espacio de tiempo. Los que se tradujo en el compromiso de todos de unirse al menos para tocar una vez año, en alguna parte del mundo. Y esto, ocurrirá, los
próximos 7 y 8 de julio en Sotogrande. New Orleans Jump Band vuelve a reunirse en el mismo lugar que los vio nacer como banda y estarán tocando el domingo 7 de julio al mediodía en Restaurante La Quinta (Marina de Sotogrande) y por la noche en Origen (Castellar de la Frontera); para cerrar su mini-gira el lunes día 8 por la noche en el Chiringuito Bahía Limón (Playa de Torreguadiro). Sin duda, tres de sus establecimientos preferidos de la zona y en los que mejores momentos han compartido con el público. Por lo que este reencuentro se antoja como algo imposible de perderse, quién sabe si el año que viene estarán en China o en cualquier otra parte del mundo. Recomendamos que acudan a verles, son New Orleans Jump Band y llevan treinta años haciendo bailar a Sotogrande.

New Orleans Jump Band: 30 years of making Sotogrande dance • The legendary group, whose origins date back to the start of the 90´s in the resort, are getting back together on 7 and 8 July to offer three performances in some of the most emblematic establishments in Sotogrande where they have performed most. • The band has amassed more than 2,000 concerts over its professional trajectory with concerts all over Spain, as well as endless trips to England, Scotland, Brussels, Budapest and Africa.
You simply need to listen to a few notes, the start of one of their most recognisable melodies to get your feet shooting off of their own and moving to the purest jazz rhythms. The fact is that music also plays a very important role in the golden history of Sotogrande and if there is a hallmark that has taken the name of Sotogrande around several locations on the map and got the entire resort dancing is: New Orleans Jump Band. What began as a crazy dream, passion and hobby of three mad and music loving teachers from
Sotogrande International School, back in 1990; thirty years later has turned into more than 2,000 performances all over the national map and lots of international Jazz festivals all over the world. The New Orleans Jump Band is a real national and international institution in its musical genre and a real benchmark for new groups now emerging. The unmistakeable white trousers, print shirts and the good vibe that they exude, making Sotogrande dance for decades, and from Sotogrande, thousands of people.
The group, formed by Mike Izatt (banjo and harmonica), Stewart Napier (clarinet), David Gurudi (trumpet), Andy Peacock (trombone) and Jonas Molbeck (saxophone), are getting back together in a few days (after stopping performances in 2017) to play again in three events that we are unlikely to see repeated for quite some time in the area. But before that, let´s look back at their history a little. The core of the group emerged in 1990 with the union of three teachers from Sotogrande School, largely encouraged by their love of music and the initiative of preparing something in the area; recounts Mike Izzat, one of their most beloved and renowned members in the resort. That led them to attain some more performances until they became regular performers at the famous Rudi´s in Estepona. That is where the group took its name and strength from, ending up with seven members and leaving behind its versions from the 60´s and rock to focus solely on jazz. This led them to considerable fame. That is when they began to travel around all of Spain and part of Europe. Concerts, weddings and events (some with stories and very important people that they cannot reveal, as this explain to this media outlet) provide enough material to
write a book with the great moments experienced; until in 2005 the band took a definitive step. Tired of carrying heavy equipment, they became an acoustic group; a development that further improved their sound and their fame shot up at the international festivals in their genre. The kilometres, years and added burden of it being a passion that took up almost all of their free time and weekends, sadly led them to stop performing in 2017; with three members of the group even leaving to go and live abroad, in Scotland, England and China respectively. Last year, an invitation from the International Jazz Festival in Birmingham resulted in a new reunion of the band which entailed no fewer than eight performances in a very short space of time. This led to the commitment of everyone to get together again at least to play
once a year, somewhere in the world. And this will happen on 7 and 8 July in Sotogrande. New Orleans Jump Band is gathering again in the same place where they emerged as a band and will be playing on Sunday 7 July at midday in Restaurante La Quinta (Sotogrande Marina) and at night in Origen (Castellar de la Frontera); before ending the mini-tour on the night of Monday 8 in Chiringuito Bahía Limón (Torreguadiro Beach). Undoubtedly, three of their favourite establishments in the area and where they have shared the best times with audiences. Therefore this reunion is simply impossible to miss, who knows if next year they will be in China or another part of the world. Se inaugura un monolito del Rotary Club Estepona-Sotogrande en Pueblo Nuevo Manuel Gil El teniente alcalde delegado del Valle del Guadiaro, Óscar Ledesma, junto a la presidenta del Rotary Club Estepona-Sotogrande International, Carla Bordoli, inauguraron un monolito que indica la presencia de esta fundación en la zona y que está situado cerca de la rotonda del supermercado Lidl, en Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro. Óscar Ledesma indicó que “es un honor inaugurar este monolito que muestra la presencia de esta fundación en nuestra zona, un club que promueve la solidaridad en distintas partes del mundo y que lleva operando desde el pasado otoño en la zona que va desde Estepona hasta nuestro municipio”. Por su parte, la presidenta del Rotary Club Estepona-Sotogrande International, Carla Bordoli, señaló que con la inauguración de este un monumento rotario se oficializa la presencia y el compromiso de la fundación con la comunidad en la que opera. “Queda reflejada en la
donación de un monumento, como este monolito situado en una de las calles principales de

Una ‘Armada’ combativa Los españoles pelearon como pocas veces, con alternativas y opciones de victoria durante todo el fin de semana pero un nivel de autoexigencia y competitividad muy alto merece un reconocimiento considerable. Por un lado Jon Rahm, uno de los grandes nombres propios del torneo, peleó durante todo el torneo e incluso en algunos instantes de la jornada final llegó a colocarse a sólo tres golpes de la cabeza al paso por la Casa Club en el Hoyo 10 pero finalmente, el buen hacer del sudafricano y algún error fruto del propio riesgo de buscar la victoria
en cada golpe, finalizó en segunda posición. Una segunda plaza compartida, entre otros, con el ídolo local: el guadiareño Álvaro Quirós. Con dos espectaculares jornadas iniciales que lo colocaron en la partida estrella de la tercera ronda, Quirós mostró su versión menos inspirada el sábado y quedó lejos de los puestos de cabeza. Su impresionante ronda final (-5) lo situó finalmente con los mejores para gran alegría de los presentes. También en segunda plaza finalizaron Adri Arnaus y Eduardo de la Riva, magníficas noticias para el golf nacional y grata sorpresa. Finalmente, también a cinco golpes del líder finalizó el francés Mike Lorenzo-Vera con otro gran torneo. Sergio García, pese a pelear también todo el fin de semana y mostrar un gran juego (a veces los putts, simplemente, es que no quieren entrar), se mantuvo en liza y acabó con cuatro golpes bajo el par en séptima posición.

Andalucía Masters to the top three players. Champion pace Christiaan Bezuidenhout was perhaps not the name most chanted by fans over the entire weekend at Real Club Valderrama, fans who stoically withstood the tremendous heatwave that hit all of the south during the tournament. He had recently shared a very intriguing third-place finish Álvaro Quirós seven days before at the BMW International Open (Germany), which hinted that he was arriving in form. A fantastic opening round of 66 shots, followed by 68, 69 and 71 meant he finished with a card that will go down in the history of the tournament. A combative “Armada” The Spaniards fought like few times before, with options and the chance of victory during the entire weekend but a level of self-demandingness and very high competitiveness deserves considerable recognition. On one
hand, Jon Rahm, one of the big names of the tournament, battled during the entire tournament and even for a few moments on the last day he was just three shots off the lead as he passed the Club House at Hole 10 but finally, the good work of the South African and the occasional error caused by the risk of seeking victory with every shot meant he finished second. A second place shared with, among others, the local idol: the Guadiaro player Álvaro Quirós. With two spectacular opening days that placed him in the star group for the third round, Quirós showed his least inspired form on Saturday and ended up far from the top spots. His impressive final round (-5) finally placed him with the best to the immense joy of those present. cía y la otra mitad, a la European Tour Foundation. De momento, en la subasta benéfica celebrada el martes por la noche se recaudaron 60.000 € y la pieza más codiciada fue la bolsa que Sergio García llevó en la última Ryder.

el final en la mañana del lunes; el torneo de 2019 (el primero disputado en junio) y la fuerte ola de calor de esos días también será un detalle difícil de olvidar. Aunque el buen juego y la fidelidad del público lo convirtió en una mera anécdota.

A tournament with a charitable character On behalf of his foundation, Sergio García handed over the €110,000 collected at the 2018 edition of the tournament to the representatives of the “Por una sonrisa” (For a smile) association aimed at improving the quality of life of children,
adolescents and young people who are undergoing cancer treatment. In 2019, half of the funds raised during the week of the tournament will go to the cause supported by its host through the Sergio García Foundation and the other half
will go to the European Tour Foundation. At present, in the charity auction held on Tuesday night, €60,000 were collected and the most sought-after piece was the bag that Sergio García used at the last Ryder Cup.

Agentes de la Guardia Civil de la Comandancia de Algeciras desempeñaron el dispositivo integral de seguridad establecido con motivo de la celebración del Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters, celebrado en el Real Club Valderrama. Dado el importante dispositivo, se asignó también personal de la Compañía de la Línea de la Concepción, así como de la mayor parte de las especialidades con las que se cuenta en el Campo de Gibraltar. Efectivos de la USECIC (Unidad de Seguridad Ciudadana), GEDEX (Grupo de desactivación de Explosivos), Grupo Cinológico, Destacamento de Trá-
fico, ARS, Grupo de Información Policía Judicial y Grupo de Apoyo de Tecnologías de Información completaron el dispositivo. Igualmente se estableció un puesto de mando y una oficina de atención al público en el interior de las instalaciones deportivas, todo ello bajo responsabilidad del Oficial Coordinador de Seguridad designado al efecto, conforme a la normativa vigente. En eventos deportivos es trascendental el establecimiento de dispositivos integrales de seguridad eficaces y eficientes, tanto por personal uniformado como de paisano que puedan hacer frente a toda clase de riesgo o amenaza.

Jon Rahm conquista a los chicos de La Cañada El club de golf municipal acoge una de las citas del Proyecto Seve&Jon Golf for Kids
Redacción El Club de Golf La Cañada acogió una de las pruebas clasificatorias del Proyecto Seve&Jon Golf for Kids, con la presencia en el campo sanroqueño del jugador vasco profesional Jon Rahm. Jon Rahm maravilló a los jóvenes jugadores de La Cañada con su simpatía y con varias demostraciones con los palos en las manos. La prueba clasificatoria del Proyecto Seve&Jon Golf for Kids tuvo una participación de 72 jugadores de categorías Benjamín, Alevín e Infantil. El jugador vasco, actual número 11 del mundo, dispuso de un buena reunión y charla coloquio con todos los jóvenes jugadores, además de no cansarse de firmar innumerables autógrafos a todos los pequeños. La recaudación obtenida en el evento es íntegra para la asociación Aladina, de lucha contra el cáncer infantil. El Proyecto Seve&Jon Golf for Kids tiene como objetivo la promoción del golf y sus valores entre los más pequeños. Jon
Los mejores de cada categoría en La Cañada se clasificarán para una final zonal; y posteriormente para la gran final del circuito. Los derechos de inscripción, por importe de 10 euros, se destinan íntegramente a la Fundación Aladina, cuyo objetivo es proporcionar apoyo integral a niños y adolescentes enfermos de cáncer, así como a sus familiares. Jon Rahm conquers kids of La Cañada Municipal golf club hosts one of the events of the Seve&Jon Golf for Kids Project La Cañada Golf Club hosted one of the qualifying events for the Seve&Jon Golf for Kids project, with the presence at the San Roque course of the professional Basque golfer Jon Rahm. Jon Rahm delighted the young players at La Cañada with his kindness and several demonstrations of his golf. The qualifying event of the Seve&Jon Golf for Kids Project involved the participation of 72 players in the Under-10, Under-12 and Under-14´s categories. The Basque player, currently ranked 11th in the world, provided a good meeting and chat with all the young players, and did not tire of signing endless autographs for all the children. All the money
raised by the event is going to the association Aladina, for the fight against childhood cancer. The Seve&Jon Golf for Kids Project is aimed at the promotion of golf and its values among children. Jon Rahm and the children of Severiano Ballesteros, Javier, Miguel and Carmen, have joined forces with Grupo Tamoin to implement it. Aimed at children aged between 8 and 16, Seve&Jon Golf for Kids encourages golf through a competition model that encompasses the long game, short game and putting. The competition at La Cañada took place in the club practice area, for the Under-10, Under-12 and Under-14 categories; and the rankings can be obtained at the website: www.sevejon4kids.com The top players in each category at La Cañada will qualify for a zone final; and subsequently for the big final of the

El VII Circuito de Golf Sotogrande traspasa el ecuador de su calendario de pruebas con la cuarta cita en el trazado de Valle Romano Golf, el sábado 27 de julio, sólo unos días más tarde de disputarse el Costa del Sol Match Play 9 Golf, emoción y pura competición. El atractivo y competitivo trazado de Valle Romano Golf acoge la que será la cuarta prueba del calendario regular en la séptima edición del Circuito de Golf Sotogrande. Una cita que sirve para superar el ecuador de pruebas clasificatorias para la Gran Final (el próximo noviembre en el mítico Real Club Valderrama), en un escenario de excepción como es el recorrido malagueño. San Enrique acogerá el Memorial
Deportes “Maikel” de Baloncesto 3×3 Redacción Los próximos días 23, 24 y 25 de julio, la plaza José Miguel Dominguez Martín de San Enrique de Guadiaro se convertirá en una cancha de baloncesto, que albergará el Memorial “Maikel” de Baloncesto 3x3. El evento deportivo está organizado por el Ayuntamiento de San Roque, con la colaboración de Grupo Amigos del Basket Del Valle Baloncesto 3x3, Comisión de Fiestas de San Enrique y Multimedia. práctica deportiva, y rendir tributo a la memoria de José Miguel Domínguez Martín “Maikel”, el encuentro tendrá formato
de liguilla, a disputarse los días 23 y 24 de julio a partir de las 20.30 horas. Terminada la primera fase de liguilla entre grupos, los primeros clasificados de cada categoría se enfrentarán el 25 de julio en semifinales para decidir el ganador final. A posteriori, tendrá lugar el concurso de triples. Para participar en el Memorial “Maikel” de Baloncesto 3x3, la organización ha establecido que al menos dos jugadores por equipo deberán estar empadronados en el municipio de San Roque. Por otro lado, para hacer más
atractivo el campeonato, la cita contará con diez equipos que formarán dos grupos de cinco conjuntos. El precio de la inscripción es de 20 euros por equipo y de 3 euros por cada concursante en el atractivo concurso de triples. Las altas se podrán formalizar en el conocido Bar Sedeño de San Enrique hasta el próximo viernes 19 de julio, antes de las 12 horas. Habrá importantes premios en metálico y trofeo para el equipo ganador, subcampeón, mejor jugador del torneo y el vencedor del concurso de triples.

Por ese motivo, y para seguir creciendo como club, han incorporado a la plantilla técnica a todo un icono del deporte del balón oval en la Liga inglesa; Phil Nilsen-Nunn. En inglés y traducido casi simultáneamente, en rueda de prensa Phil Nilsen-Nunn (ex del Club de Rugby Yorkshire Carnegie), destacó la total implicación social que desarrolla el club.Visiblemente feliz y expectante, dijo que va a aportar toda su experiencia como jugador profesional. “Traigo bajo el brazo un buen proyecto deportivo de presente-futuro con el propósito de hacer aún más grande a Rugby del

Therefore, and in order to keep growing as a club, they have added an icon in the sport of rugby in the English league to the training staff; Phil Nilsen-Nunn. Horseware conquista la Copa Patrick G. Hermés de Polo Fantástico fin de semana de buen polo en las instalaciones de Santa María Polo Club, días antes del inicio de un nuevo Torneo Internacional de Verano. Iridike se llevó el triunfo en la cita del Bajo Handicap M. Gil El equipo de Horseware se proclamó campeón de la IV edición de la Copa Patrick Hermés de Polo en la categoría de bajo handicap, en la final disputada en las canchas de Los Pinos del Santa María Polo Club. Fue el final perfecto a tres días de buen polo, en el que destacó la actuación del polista Jaime Le Hardy. Por su parte, en la categoría de cero a dos goles, resultó vencedor el conjunto de Biarritz, quedando como finalista Iridike. El cuarteto de Horseware, com-
puesto por Finnegan, Thompson, Connelly y Le Hardy, llegaba invicto a la final de este domingo, en la que acabó superando a Foxcote por ocho goles a tres. Destacó la brillante actuación de Le Hardy que consiguió llevar al equipo al máximo. El público asistente pudo disfrutar de una magnífica jornada de polo desde las gradas y terrazas que bordean la cancha. Al igual que el resto de torneos de la temporada de primavera
a verano, la entrada fue gratuita para todos los asistentes, tanto al partido como a las instalaciones. Y es que si algo destaca de las competiciones que organiza el Santa María Polo Club es el ambiente relajado y festivo en el que se puede disfrutar de un aperitivo a pie de cancha mientras se contempla el juego. Los niños cuentan con su propia zona infantil y tras cada final se organiza un auténtico asado argentino para celebrar la victoria.

Iridike won in the Low Handicap category The Horseware team was crowned champion of the IV edition of the Patrick Hermés Polo Cup in the low handicap category, in the final held at the Los Pinos pitches of Santa María Polo Club. It was the perfect end to three days of good polo, where the performance of the polo player Jaime Le Hardy stood out. In turn, in the zero to two goal handicap category, the Biarritz side won, and Iridike was finalist. The Horseware team, compri-
sed of Finnegan, Thompson, Connelly and Le Hardy reached the final on Sunday unbeaten, and ended up beating Foxcote by eight goals to three. The brilliant performance of Le Hardy stood out, managing to bring his team to its maximum level. esde hace algunos años dedicamos esta última página del periódico a la sección ‘Rincones de Sotogrande’. Un espacio diseñado para colgar imágenes históricas, del archivo propiedad de Grupo HCP, en el que damos a conocer los comienzos de la urbanización e imágenes para el recuerdo de las últimas décadas. Además, durante todo este 2019, aprovechando el 40 aniversario de la agencia inmobiliaria Holmes Sotogrande, también se distribuirán con El Periódico de Sotogrande unas postales que aportarán más imágenes, datos curiosos y anécdotas de los primeros años de Sotogrande. ¡No se las pueden perder!
