Reinvertir más allá del ocio y la playa Desde que comenzó, casi sin descanso, el ciclo de desconfinamiento y desescalada al que toda la sociedad nos vimos abocados a mediados del pasado mes de marzo; las diferentes administraciones no han hecho otra cosa que proponer y proyectar medidas que salven la temporada estival, es decir, que mantengan el flujo de gasto turístico durante el verano de 2020. Por otro lado obvio, por el mismo lado necesario y por el resto de lados: insuficientes para un plan económico de garantías a mayor plazo. Vemos importantes por no decir, desmesuradas, inversiones desde todas las administraciones (Ejecutivo central, autonómico y local); por “salvar”, nuevamente utilizamos la conjugación de este verbo, la economía de servicios durante las principales cotas de la campaña veraniega. Hasta ahí, todo correcto pero cuando lleguemos a septiembre qué pasará. Ésa es la cuestión.

Pero no existe un plan b más allá. Leemos estos días diferentes propuestas municipales por enriquecer las infraestructuras e instalaciones de San Enrique de Guadiaro, lo aplaudimos. Por cierto, felicitar al autor y a quién lo propusiese porque el vínculo de la barriada con el caballo es enorme y con estos muros además se plasma.

Todo el sector sabe cómo trabajar y hacer crecer la economía y el umbral de empleo (en este año, bajo las particularidades de las medidas preventivas y de higiene). Pero están preparados.

We look forward to reporting new strategies and plans, as well as important projects, once autumn begins. The lesson for summer, apologies for the boldness, we almost know it off by heart. La delgada línea que divide la erudición o el saber sin argumentos se define por lo contrastado de una información, la experiencia o el conocimiento y la profundidad sobre una cuestión en concreto. Con la información y la comunicación esto es fundamental. Llevamos tanto a la portada, como en un bonito reportaje fotográfico interior, el nuevo aspectos de la pasarela y muros que atraviesan San Enrique de Guadiaro, desde hace unos días, con motivos ecuestres y vinculados al mundo del polo. ¡Bravo por la iniciativa! Punto negativo al cuidado de los detalles que marcan la diferencia. Si se fijan, pueden apreciar que el jugador de polo sostiene el taco con la mano izquierda, algo antagónico a la tradición del juego e imposible de verse en un partido; ya que la normativa establece el uso exclusivo de la diestra para el golpeo y taqueo. Una cuestión irrelevante a los ojos del turismo pero no para la amplia comunidad entendida en este deporte que reside y visita Sotogrande casi a diario. Un ejemplo más de la delgada línea que divide algo de buen grado y un acierto a todas luces pero que peca de no haber contrastado detalles de importancia para un mundo con tanta presencia y actividad en la zona. Sin abandonar el planeta del polo, en esta edición de El Periódico de Sotogrande, damos algunas pinceladas y avances sobre cómo va a configurarse el 49º Torneo Internacional de Santa María Polo Club este verano. Se respetarán las fechas iniciales (25 de julio – 30 de agosto) y nos brindará un espectáculo un año más en Los Pinos con buen polo y ambiente de excepción cada tarde. Evidentemente, los problemas para viajar y cruzar fronteras afectará y mermará la visita de grandes jugadores u organizaciones internacionales, algo esperado y que en más de una ocasión yo lo habíamos adelantado desde estas páginas. Especialmente por su coincidencia simultánea esta temporada con las principales competiciones británicas. Pero es momento, quizás, de remar todos juntos y apostar por la celebración de un gran evento que entre todos habrá que arropar y vestir por mantener la experiencia, el contenido y la expectación desde Sotogrande hacia el mundo del polo. Es algo que beneficia a todos. En otra línea, venimos de uno de los primeros fines de semana de temporada oficial de playas, eso sí, con cierto desorden en cuanto al respeto de aforos y otras normativas. La cuestión va un poco más allá del civismo de los usuarios, el cual muchas veces se presupone y no siempre se cumple. El planteamiento llega establecerse, con suma importante, al analizar las verdaderas garantías que debería promover el Plan de Playas Seguras promovido por la Junta de Andalucía. Esos tres mil vigilantes, con sueldos más que dignos (rondan los 1.800 euros), contratados para este verano qué finalidad tienen si acabamos viendo como se cierran playas por aforo máximo, cómo se cortan accesos y cómo no se respetan, en muchos casos, las medidas preventivas. Todo el mundo puede equivocarse el primer día. Veremos qué pasa. Mientras tanto, gocen y disfruten de este fantástico final de junio en Sotogrande, sin duda, espectacular. On both the cover and a pretty photographic report inside, we are showing the new look of the walkway and walls that, for some days now, cross San Enrique de Guadiaro, featuring equestrian motifs linked to the world of polo. Bravo for the initiative! A negative point for looking after details that make the difference. If you look closely, you can see that the polo player is holding the stick in their left hand, which goes again the tradition of the game and is impossible to see in a match; as the rules stipulate the exclusive use of the right hand for hitting and playing. An irrelevant matter to the eyes of tourists, but not for the extensive community that knows about this sport and that resides in and visits Sotogrande on an almost daily basis. Another example of the thin line dividing something done in good faith and a clear success but which is guilty of not checking important details of a world with such a presence and activity in the area. Without leaving behind the polo world, in this edition of El Periódico de Sotogrande, we provide some snippets and advances of how the 49th International Tournament at Santa María Polo Club will be organised this summer. The initial dates will be respected (25 July - 30 August) and once again this year it will offer us a spectacle at Los Pinos with good polo and an exceptional atmosphere each afternoon. Clearly, the problems travelling and crossing borders will affect and reduce the visit of major players and international organisations, which was expected and on more than one occasion we had already announced it in these pages. Especially due to it taking place this season at the same time as the main British competitions. However, it is perhaps time to all work together and commit to celebrating a great event that we will all need to gather around and support to maintain the experience, content and expectation of Sotogrande towards the polo world. It is something that benefits everyone. In other news, we have just had one of the first weekends of the official beach season, having said that, with certain disorder in terms of respecting capacities and other rules. The question goes a little beyond the civility of users, which is often assumed and not always fulfilled. The concept acquires great importance when analysing the true guarantees that the Safe Beach Plan promoted by the Regional Government of Andalusia should promote. Una de las señas de identidad más potentes cada verano para reconocer el reinicio de la temporada estival, en este caso, sello ineludible de la “nueva normalidad”. A lo largo de la primera quincena de junio, casi en su totalidad, se encuentran plenamente operativos todos los chiringuitos de la zona.

Gil La práctica totalidad de los chiringuitos existentes en los 15 kilómetros de playa del municipio, quedarán abiertos en este mes de junio, tras el anuncio realizado por los últimos en preparar sus respectivas aperturas; de manera que los principales establecimientos de temporada de playa se encontrarán a lo largo de los próximos días todos operativos.

Los últimos establecimientos en anunciar su apertura han sido Chambao, que lo hará el viernes 12 de junio; La Brisa, el miércoles 17 de junio; Bahía Limón, el jueves 18 de junio; y chiringuito De Cai, a primeros de julio. Además de los chiringuitos mencionados anteriormente, están il Soño; Trocadero Sotogrande; Bunker Beach Club; Gigi´s Beach; El Octógono;

Chiringuito Carrero; Chiringuito Eulogia; amén de otros bares y restaurantes en las cercanías de las playas, tanto en la Bahía como en la zona de levante, todos ya abiertos. San Roque es un destino de sol y playa, posee en sus 15 kilómetros de costa 4 banderas azules y un total de 11 establecimientos de playa o chiringuitos, que se aprovechan de los más de 320 días de sol

al año, aunque es en verano cuando ejecutan la mayor parte de su actividad. Tanto el alcalde de San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, como la delegada de Turismo, Ana Ruiz, han saludado la iniciativa de la apertura de estos establecimientos, tan importantes para el sector turístico del municipio. Ambos mandatarios han asegurado que los establecimien-

tos cuentan con todas las medidas de seguridad y sanitarias que marca la Ley en estos momentos, y confía en que puedan desarrollar su actividad con normalidad.

San Roque, y más concretamente la zona del Valle del Guadiaro, renueva en este verano de 2020 el distintivo en tres playas de bandera azul: Alcaidesa-Faro (Torrecarbonera), Torreguadiaro y Cala Sardina. Así lo comunicó la Asociación de Educación Ambiental y del Consumidor (Adeac), que concede estos galardones. Además, Puerto Sotogrande sigue con su bandera azul, si bien se trata de una instalación de titularidad privada, y el Aula de la Naturaleza del Pinar del Rey también mantiene su distinción como Centro Azul. Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, primer edil sanroqueño, señaló que “todos los servicios y obligaciones que tenemos para

También se ha felicitado a Puerto Sotogrande por su constante trabajo para mantener la excelencia de sus instalaciones. Las banderas azules se conceden no sólo

por la calidad de las aguas y por la limpieza de la arena de las playas, sino también por contar con servicios de socorrismo, salvamento y atención sanitaria y, también, por disponer de suficientes módulos de servicios y mobiliario como duchas, papeleras y pasare-

Conoce el estado de las playas, viento o aforo, desde el teléfono móvil El Consistorio pone en marcha un servicio telemático a través de la web municipal (Sanroque.es) y aplicaciones móviles para informar a los usuarios de todos los datos más relevantes de las playas: aforo, viento, etc.

Redacción / M. G. Los usuarios de las playas del municipio pueden consultar datos sobre aforo y velocidad del viento, entre otros, a través del nuevo servicio telemático puesto en marcha por el Ayuntamiento. Se pretende así informar a los bañistas sobre su situación en cada momento, con el objetivo de que puedan elegir la playa que más se adapte a sus necesidades y, también, evitar desplazamientos innecesarios a lugares donde la normativa para evitar contagios impida una mayor ocupación. El servicio ofrece datos de las siguientes playas: Cala Sardina, Torreguadiaro, Torreguadiaro (zona puerto), Sotogrande, Sotogrande (búnker), Alcaidesa-Faro (Torrecarbonera), Campamento, Puente Mayorga y Guadarranque. Así, se informa sobre el porcentaje de aforo en cada playa durante la última actualización, sobre qué bandera ondea, si hay medusas, la intensidad del oleaje, la temperatura del aire y del agua, la velocidad y la dirección del viento, y el índice de radiación ultravioleta. En el portal web municipal puede

The aim is to inform bathers about the situation at all times, with the aim of them being able to choose the beach that best suits their needs and, also, avoid unnecessary travel to places where the legislation to avoid infection prevents greater occupancy. The service offers data about the following beaches: Cala Sardina, Torreguadiaro, Torreguadiaro (port area), Sotogrande, Sotogrande (bunker), Alcaidesa-Faro (Torrecarbonera), Campamento, Puente Mayorga and Guadarranque. Thus, information is provided about the capacity percentage on each beach during the latest update, about which flag is flying, if there are jellyfish, the intensity of the waves, the air and water temperature and the direction of the wind, and the ultraviolet radiation rating. Movilidad La movilidad es un derecho fundamental que damos por sentado hasta que lo perdemos. Esto no sucede igual con todos los derechos, porque hemos perdido la movilidad abruptamente. Con la movilidad parece no valer la sabiduría de David Hume, que sostuvo que la libertad nunca se pierde toda de una sola vez. Pensemos en el derecho de propiedad. También lo damos por sentado, sin percibir que hemos ido perdiéndolo paulatinamente, con unos niveles de presión fiscal que nuestros abuelos no habrían tolerado. Pero los Estados aprendieron pronto a incursionar gradualmente contra las carteras de sus súbditos, como sentenció Jean- Baptiste Colbert, ministro de Luis XIV: “El arte de recaudar impuestos consiste en desplumar al ganso obteniendo la mayor cantidad de plumas con el mínimo de graznidos”. La pandemia del coronavirus, en cambio, anuló nuestro derecho a la movilidad de la noche a la mañana. La gran mayoría de las personas no recordaba haber pasado por semejante violación de su libertad de movimientos. Para colmo de males, el confinamiento probó la veracidad de una antigua idea económica, a

Mobility saber, que la riqueza se crea mediante la comunicación, el mercado, el movimiento, el contacto y el intercambio entre las personas. Si el poder los impide, las consecuencias económicas son catastróficas. Es evidente que los seres humanos aceptamos tan tajante violación de nuestras libertades porque el miedo desactiva nuestra natural tendencia a resistir los abusos de poder. Nos pareció que, ante la amenaza a nuestra vida, era razonable que aceptáramos la usurpación de nuestros derechos. Ahora bien, hay dos matices importantes. El primero es que dicha aceptación depende del tiempo, porque cabe esperar que una ciudadanía que anticipe un confinamiento de varios años, por ejemplo, lo rechazaría. Y el segundo es que el enorme protagonismo que adquiere el Estado en estas emergencias, lo expone también a la luz pública y a la crítica popular ante sus fallos más grotescos. Sobre estos asuntos podemos reflexionar quienes hemos padecido un castigo adicional, porque no solo hemos estados confinados, sino que hemos sufrido el confinamiento lejos de nuestro Sotogrande.

It is clear that human beings accept such a resounding violation of our freedoms because fear deactivates our natural tendency to resist the abuses of power. It seemed that, faced with the threat to our lives, it was reasonable to accept the usurpation of our rights. However, there are two important nuances. The first is that such an acceptance depends on time, because it could be expected that citizens anticipating a confinement of several years, for example, would reject it. And the second is that the enormous prominence that the State acquires in these emergencies, also exposes it to the public eye and the criticisms of the public in the face of the most grotesque errors. Those of us who have suffered an additional punishment can reflect on these matters, because we have not only been confined, rather, we have suffered confinement far from our Sotogrande.

a realizar este mandato: un recinto ferial y un puente peatonal sobre el río Guadiaro. En cuanto al recinto, indicó que será de uso y disfrute, no sólo

para la feria de la barriada, sino durante los 365 días del año, “con el compromiso de que acabe el actual mandato en 2023 o mucho antes”.

“Vamos a concluir -anuncióen este mandato todos los trabajos para contar cuanto antes con el nuevo recinto ferial de San Enrique. Éste será un

proyecto ambicioso que no únicamente contempla actuaciones para una semana en el año, sino que contiene ya actividades y actuaciones para

Cabrá, por supuesto, la semana de feria de San Enrique, pero caben también mejoras como la creación de distintas pistas deportivas o la ejecución de una caseta municipal que permita con ese espacio de ocio, encuentro y convivencia entre todos los vecinos de San Enrique de Guadiaro. Y donde además también hay que recordar que tenemos un compromiso de abrir el área recreativa que aún no existe, pero que es una área próxima a la ribera del río Guadiaro. Un lugar con encanto, que no es normal que vivamos de espaldas a él cuando tiene una belleza y es un paraje natural de incalculable valor. Por eso también vamos a afrontar una inversión en la zona más próxima al río Guadiaro, en la ribera más próxima a la ba-

quiere del apoyo de otras administraciones en cuanto a autorizaciones”. El alcalde espera por tanto contar con la colaboración y apoyo de la Junta de Andalucía para sacar adelante ese proyecto de alta envergadura, emblemática y que permitirá seguir contando con mayor convivencia, puntos de encuentro

entre estos dos núcleos poblacionales. Hay que recordar que el Ayuntamiento, a través de la Delegación de Infraestructuras y Obras, está llevando a cabo una campaña de adecentamiento de las diferentes entradas a los núcleos de población del municipio.

Municipal plan envisages pedestrian bridge and fair enclosure for San Enrique

• Council plans important project in the neighbourhood, detailed during the electoral programme before the current term, to create a pedestrian bridge over the Guadiaro River and facilities for a fair enclosure. San Enrique is looking to the future. The Council of San Roque, through the mayor, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, announced two important projects that will be created during this term: a fair enclosure and a pedestrian bridge over the Guadiaro River. With regard to the enclosure, he stated that it will be for use, not just for the neighbourhood´s fair, but rather 365 days a year, “with the commitment that it will be finished in the current term in 2023 or much before then”. He announced that “during this term we are going to finish all the projects in order to have the new San Enrique fair enclosure as soon as possible. This will be an ambitious project that doesn´t only include actions for one week a year, rather it contains activities and actions for 52 weeks. It will of course include the fair week of San Enrique but it also includes improvements such as the creation of diffe-

rent sports tracks and the creation of a municipal hut that enables gathering and socialising among all the residents of San Enrique de Guadiaro with that leisure space. And where it is also necessary to remember that we have a commitment to open the recreational area that doesn´t exist yet, but that is an area close to the banks of the Guadiaro River. and it isn´t normal that we live in ignorance of it when it is beautiful and it is a natural spot of incalculable value. Therefore, we are also going to make an investment in the area closest to the Guadiaro River, on the bank closest to the neighbourhood of San Roque, in order to have that recreational area. We are also progressing in procedures, not as a com-

mitment exactly because it will depend on other administrations, but I want people to be aware that we are working on an emblematic and large project that will also be used to continue to link the towns of our municipality, those of Guadiaro and San Enrique, in this case, through a pedestrian bridge over the Guadiaro River. “It is a project that right now

El pueblo de San Enrique dará a partir de ahora la bienvenida a su barriada con un nuevo mural sobre el mundo del caballo, inspirado en gran medida en el polo, ubicado sobre el muro existente junto a la parada de autobús. La decoración y las letras corpóreas con el nombre de la barriada, ubicadas frente al centro de salud, contaron con la visita inaugural del alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, coincidiendo con la valoración de su gestión en el primer año de este

Redacción / Remitido La supresión de unas setenta plazas de aparcamiento y el cambio de sentido de la circulación en el Puerto Deportivo de Sotogrande ha sido “puesto en conocimiento del Ayuntamiento de San Roque y de la Agencia Pública de Puertos de Andalucía” por los Presidentes de Comunidades de las viviendas que allí se ubican. Se trata de “defender los legítimos derechos de los propietarios de viviendas, locales y atraques y de los usuarios y visitantes del Puerto que se han visto sorprendidos por una actuación que les ocasiona graves perjuicios, pues limita el acceso rodado a sus viviendas, locales y atraques, el estacionamiento a los trabajadores de los distintos negocios y a todos los usuarios y visitantes, quienes se encuentran, más ahora en periodo estival, sin alternativa alguna de aparcamiento en el interior de la concesión, pues ni siquiera esto se ha previsto con antelación”. La mayoría de negocios instalados se quejan de que, “si ya la crisis provocada por la pandemia les ha afectado enormemente, la desaparición de tantas plazas de aparcamiento hará disminuir la ya habitual escasa afluencia de público llevándoles a la ruina”. Probablemente no se sepa que la mayor parte de los ingresos necesarios para el sostenimiento de los gastos que genera el Puerto de Sotogrande ( cuidado y mantenimiento calles, jardines, pantalanes, empleados de la Torre de Control, vigilancia etc) proceden de “los propietarios de apartamentos, locales y atraques del Puerto Deportivo a quienes Puerto Sotogrande S.A. ni siquiera ha consultado sobre el tema”. Según las fuentes consultadas, “Puerto Sotogrande SA carece de legitimación para la eje-

cución de las obras realizadas. Sotogrande S.A. , titular de la concesión desde 1982, cedió en el año 1989 a Puerto de Sotogrande S.A. los derechos de explotación de la instalación portuaria quien desde entonces se encarga de manejar los citados ingresos para, entre otras cosas, cumplir con su obligación de mantener en buen estado de conservación y uso el Puerto , actividad por la que obtiene sustanciosos beneficios. Pero eso no da derecho a Puerto Sotogrande SA ni a decidir unilateralmente la realización de obras que afectan a los usos y servicios del Puerto ni mucho menos a ejecutarlas. Lo ha hecho sin el concurso de la concesionaria, Sotogrande SA, y en particular, sin el concurso del Ingeniero de Caminos Canales y Puertos que ha de ser Director del Puerto de Sotogrande tal y como exige el Reglamento de Explotación de la concesión”. Tampoco “ha obtenido el concurso de los propietarios de viviendas, locales y atraques, directa y gravemente afectados. Y, para acabar, lo ha hecho sin mediar ni solicitud, ni apertura de expediente alguno , ni concesión de ningún tipo de licencia ni autorización de ningún organismo público, ni del Ayuntamiento de San Roque, ni de la Agencia Pública de Puertos de Andalucía”. La actuación por la vía de los hechos de Puerto Sotogrande S.A. ha suscitado la reacción de los propietarios de viviendas, locales y atraques del Puerto Deportivo, legítimos titulares de derechos reales inscritos en el Registro de la Propiedad, que están “poniendo en marcha las distintas Comunidades de Vecinos de los edificios que allí se encuentran y la Asociación de Titulares de Amarres (para más información,

Lucharán por cuestiones tan básicas como por ejemplo, “la libertad de contratación del teléfono o internet, o algo tan inherente al disfrute de un derecho como es la obtención de rentas por el arrendamiento de un puesto de amarre que no pueden ser sino compartidas por el titular con la explotadora del Puerto, Puerto Sotogrande S.A. desde que ésta, hace unos años, tomó la decisión de forma unilateral en una actuación que puede calificarse de expropiatoria”. “Puerto Sotogrande S.A. trata de justificar su actuación en planteamientos de seguridad derivados del Covid 19 con la intención de conseguir el primer premio de lo que denominan un Puerto Seguro “Marina Safe”, a costa de la

ruina de los autónomos y trabajadores del Puerto Deportivo. Ante el cambio de situación, los arrendatarios de locales han comenzado a solicitar la cancelación de sus contratos de alquiler pues si ya había pocos visitantes incluso en verano, ahora va a ser mucho más difícil”. Mientras trata de conseguir el premio “Marina Safe”, Puerto Sotogrande S.A. permite algo que “no ocurre en otros puertos deportivos de España: la instalación de una zona de alquiler de motos acuáticas en el lugar más peligroso de las aguas de un puerto cual es el de entrada y salida de embarcaciones . Un Puerto Deportivo que ha crecido exponencialmente tras la construcción de la marina interior, y sin embargo sigue atendido por el mismo número de marineros que hace veinticinco años”.

The situation with the facts of Puerto Sotogrande S.A has led to the reaction of the owners of properties, premises and berths in the Marina, the legitimate holders of the real rights registered in the Property Register, who are “launching the different Communities of Residents of the buildings that are located there and the Association of Holders of Berths (for further information, Pedro Miguel Mancha Romero , Lawyer <pedromiguelmancha@icam.es> )”. They will fight for very basic issues such as for example, “the freedom to contract telephone or internet, or something as inherent as enjoying a right like obtaining income for the lease of a

En el último comunicado de la EUC Parques de Sotogrande, se reincidió nuevamente en la necesidad de recordar que “los ruidos en la urbanización representan uno de los factores que más perturban la tranquilidad de los vecinos de Sotogrande. En gran medida la actividad de jardinería, por el uso de herramientas no eléctricas tipo sopladores, motosierras, corta-setos, etc., es una de las que mayores quejas causan a lo largo de todo el año”. La Entidad detalla que ha renovado su maquinaria, adquiriendo hace meses herramientas eléctricas para todos los usos de jardinería. “Consideramos que esta medida debe ser replicada por las empresas de jardinería y los jardineros privados que realizan su actividad en Sotogrande. En este sentido desde la Entidad estamos informando de todo ello a jardineros y empresas principales del sector y afor-

Opinión - Cartas al director ¡¡Coches junto al KE, qué cosa!! A pocos piscolabis que uno se haya tomado en El KE habrá observado en multitud de ocasiones el tráfago de personajes, más o menos estrafalarios, descendiendo o ascendiendo a sus fastuosos carruajes como si se tratase de la puesta en escena de un bodorrio o de un vodevil. El coche como el reloj o la indumentaria son atavíos que visten y desnudan a la vez a quienes los portan. Intentaré explicarme: toda prenda desde las gafas a los calcetines denotan las ansias que respira su poseedor. Como decía Ortega y Gasset: “somos transparentes” cualquier detalle: en la dicción, en el peinado, en la forma de coger el tenedor o el bolígrafo, etc. -por nimio que éste sea- denota mucho de la personalidad y antecedentes del observado. Así pues ¡cómo no van a ser los coches un magnífico escaparate de la personalidad de sus conductores o usuarios! Dicho lo anterior entenderán que entienda que se haya levantado una polémica acerca de la restricción o no de los aparcamientos en el área del muelle cercana al KE, y es que, para muchos, quitarles el coche es tanto como quitarle el hábito al monje o el uniforme al militar. Sin llevar su coche a cuestas, muchos se sienten como desnudos, y… ¿qué carajo de autoridad tiene un militar desnudo y sin pistola? Que la gente no pueda acudir a la pasarela del KE sin el aditamento de su vehículo me parece todo un adelanto y no porque no me gusten los coches, que me encantan desde mucho antes de nacer (mi abuelo tuvo la concesión, para Navarra, de los Hispano-Suiza y luego la de SEAT) sino porque creo que la zona gana-

ría mucho en sosiego y economía si los coches se dejaran a un lado. Por Zermatt (Suiza) o por Venecia no se circula en coche, y sin embargo siguen atrayendo a infinitud de turistas de calidad, y las zonas más dinámicas de las ciudades -comercialmente hablando- son siempre las peatonales. Por medio mundo, peatonalizar es sinónimo de dinamizar. Otra cuestión importante, y relacionada con la anterior, es que haya que mejorar «mucho» la movilidad en todo Sotogrande (Las infraestructuras apenas han cambiado desde su fundación). ¡Qué agradable sería poder contar con una red de viales ciclistas que recorrieran toda la urbanización -al estilo de los que unen los pintorescos pueblecitos que bordean el Danubio desde Dürnstein a Viena- solo que con nuestro benéfico clima! Nos servirían para desplazamientos normales a la vez que nos poníamos en forma (está demostrado que aquellos desplazamientos menores de 5Km se efectúan en menos tiempo). Tendríamos una población más sana, más segura y menos contaminada por ruidos y humos, y, además, con eso de que ahora hay bicicletas exclusivas también se podría lucir palmito sobre dos ruedas de platino e iridio. La vanidad humana es tan antigua como la humanidad y no desaparecerá así como así. Espero haber podido colaborar con mi granito de arena a la duna de opiniones vertidas al respecto. ¡¡Abogo por que los coches se guarden en el garaje, y que se mejoren las infraestructuras viales para ciclo-turistas desde Tarifa a Cadaqués!!

No matter how few snacks you have had at El KE, you will often have observed the bustle of people, more or less outlandish, getting out of and getting into their lavish vehicles as if a wedding or variety show were taking place. Cars, like watches or clothing are decorations that dress and in turn lay bare those who wear them. I will try to explain this: any garment from sunglasses to socks shows the longings of those who possess them. As Ortega y Gasset said: “we are transparent” any detail: in diction, in hairstyle, in how we pick up a fork or a pen, etc. -no matter how trivial- says a lot about the character and background of the person being observed. Thus, how are cars not going to be a magnificent display of the personality of their drivers or users! Having said the above, you will understand that there has been a controversy regarding whether or not to restrict parking in the dock area close to KE and the fact is that, for many people, taking away their car is like taking away the monk´s habit or a soldier´s uniform. With a car on their backs, many people feel naked, and... what kind of authority does a naked soldier without a gun have? Not allowing people to come to the catwalk of the KE without the accessory of their vehicle seems like a real step forward to me and not because I don´t like cars, I loved them even before I was born (my grandfather had the concession, for Navarre, of Hispano-Suiza cars and then of SEAT) but rather because I think the area would gain a lot in terms of quiet and economy if cars were set aside. People don´t go around Zermatt (Switzerland) or Venice in a car, however they continue to attract an endless number of quality tourists, and the most vibrant areas of cities -commercially talking- are always the pedestrian areas. For most of the world, pedestrianizing is synonymous with invigorating. Another important matter, and linked to the above, is that it is necessary to “really” improve mobility throughout Sotogrande (The infrastructures have barely changed since its establishment). How pleasant would it be to have a network of cycling lanes that went around the entire resort -like those that connect the picturesque little towns that go round the Danube from Dürnstein to Vienna- only with our benevolent climate! They would be used for normal journeys while helping us to get in shape too (it has been shown that journeys under 5Km take less time). We would have a healthier and safer town, with less noise and smoke population, and also, now that there are exclusive bicycles it would also be possible to show off your figure on two platinum and iridium wheels. Human vanity is as old as humanity itself and will not disappear just like that. I hope to have been able to add my little grain of sand to the sand dune of opinions given on this matter. I advocate keeping cars in the garage and improving the road infrastructures for cycle-tourists from Tarifa to Cadaqués!

Megafonía, aforo y vigilancia para unas playas “limpias” de coronavirus La comisión municipal sobre la COVID-19 plantea las diferentes medidas y situaciones especiales que se aplicarán en todo el litoral sanroqueño

La comisión municipal de seguimiento del coronavirus, en San Roque, mantuvo un encuentro, de forma telemática, para dar cuenta de los últimos datos sobre la pandemia en la localidad, en especial asuntos relacionados con las playas, al objeto de “tener una playa libre de Covid-19”. El primer edil informó en la reunión tanto sobre los contratos de megafonía como los de instalación de cámaras que permitan conocer el estado de ocupación de la playa, así como la contratación por la Junta de 38 controladores o vigilantes de playas. El objetivo, según el alcalde es “tener una temporada de playas libre de Covid-19 y que podamos contar con un nuevo espacio

de encuentro y de ocio entre los vecinos de San Roque y nuestros visitantes y con aquellas personas que están ayudando a reactivar la economía del municipio”. Además, se valoraron todas

las consideraciones de la fase 3, “donde ya se comparte el mando único con la Junta de Andalucía, y analizando cuestiones como la ampliación de mesas en las terrazas hasta un 75 %, y de otras cuestiones

que afectan a los comercios y a los vecinos, como el uso de las mascarillas, que serán obligatorias si no se puede mantener la distancia social”. La reunión estuvo presidida por el alcalde de San Roque,

Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, y participó el teniente de alcalde de Salud, Juan Serván, el jefe de la Policía Local, una técnico de Asuntos Sociales y los portavoces de los grupos municipales.

Socorrismo rescata a un padre e hijo, en la playa de Torreguadiaro Manuel Gil Primera actuación y casi susto, en la playa de Torreguadiaro. El servicio de socorrismo destinado a la prevención y seguridad en esta playa, concretamente Socoservis, tuvo que actuar de urgencia durante el primer fin de semana de temporada oficial para rescatar a un padre y su hijo, de cuatro años de edad, que se adentraron con una tabla de pádel surf. Los acontecimientos sucedieron alrededor de la hora del almuerzo cuando padre e hijo se encontraban practicando este reconocido deporte, pese a que la actividad estaba desaconsejada por los socorristas a causa

Previamente a cualquier otra consideración, para evitar confusiones e incluso engaños, es preciso manifestar con toda claridad que una EUC, por su propia esencia, es una entidad sin ánimo de lucro en la cual los ingresos están equiparados a los gastos. De otra parte, la gestión de una EUC no supone necesariamente la creación de toda una costosa estructura de personal y medios materiales, ya que todo eso se puede contratar a precios de mercado, sin tener que asumir pesadas cargas futuras. Desde su creación por Sotogrande y su actual continuación por Conservación de La Marina, CLM, el Régimen Especial de La Marina de Sotogrande, conocido como el REM, ha sido un negocio con unos beneficios multimillonarios para

Sotogrande, en sus inicios, y ahora para CLM. En uno de los varios procedimientos judiciales instados por asociados de APUMAS, Sotogrande ha reconocido que el coste total del mantenimiento y conservación de la urbanización exterior, el vial y sus servicios anexos, supone el 12% del importe total que se factura por el REM a los propietarios de viviendas en La Marina. En el peor de los casos, una vez constituida la futura EUC el coste total que tendríamos que pagar todos los vecinos de La Marina sería el equivalente a una cifra entre el 10 al 12% del importe facturado por Sotogrande a cada propietario por el REM. La realidad contrastada, desde el año 2010, por varias comunidades de propietarios de La Marina, asociadas a APUMAS, que han asumido directamente la gestión de todos los servicios privados que se prestaban antes por Sotogrande en el interior de dichas comunidades, aplicando la Ley de Propiedad Ho-

rizontal, los Estatutos de las propias comunidades y las sentencias de los tribunales, ha supuesto para los propietarios de inmuebles situados en estas comunidades un ahorro de costes superior al 80% con respecto al REM, a la vez que no ha precisado de la creación de ningún tipo de estructura o entidad diferente a la propia comunidad. Simplemente, las comunidades han retomado la gestión directa de sus servicios privativos, asumiendo mediante las correspondientes cuotas de comunidad el pago de los mismos, siendo los administradores de estas comunidades y sus presidentes los responsables de la gestión de estos servicios, al igual que de los restantes prestados a la comunidad hasta esa fecha, demostrando que la gestión directa de la totalidad de los servicios privativos de dichas comunidades no precisa de la creación de otro REM, ni mucho menos enriquecer a oportunistas que al amparo de la confusión actual pretender sustituir a Sotogrande ocupando ellos su

lugar, haciéndose con los millonarios beneficios anuales que genera el REM. Recientemente, dos Presidentes de sendas comunidades y un conocido administrador de fincas de la zona, están pretendiendo crear otro REM, esta vez promovido por ellos, con el único propósito de sustituir a Sotogrande por una nueva entidad, que no es una EUC, mediante la cual se seguiría perpetuando el actual REM, pero con la diferencia de que en este caso los beneficios multimillonarios serian obtenidos por estos tres promotores del nuevo REM. Se debe advertir, pues, que la creación del

“nuevo REM” no sustituiría a la EUC, sino que sería un instrumento interpuesto e innecesario, que únicamente supondría mas costes para los vecinos de La Marina. Desde APUMAS instamos a todas las comunidades de propietarios de La Marina para que procedan a la gestión integral de sus servicios privativos, de manera directa, sin dejarse llevar a otro nuevo REM, a resultas del cual no se obtiene ninguna diferencia real con respecto a la actual situación que venimos padeciendo ante Sotogrande y ahora Conservación de La Marina.

The real situation, since 2010, experienced by several communities of owners in the Marina, linked to APUMAS, who have directly assumed management of all the private services that were previously provided by Sotogrande within those communities, applying the Law of Horizontal Property, the Statutes of the communities and the rulings of the courts, has resulted in savings for owners of properties located in these communities of over 80% compared to the REM, while not requiring the creation of any kind of structure or entity other than the community itself. Simply, communities have resumed the direct management of their private services, assuming the payment of them via the corresponding community

fees, and the administrators of these communities and their presidents are responsible for the management of these services, as well as the other services provided to the community until now, showing that the direct management of all the private services of the communities does not require the creation of another REM, nor does it enrich opportunists who taking advantage of the current confusion aim to replace Sotogrande, and obtain the annual profits worth millions that the REM generates. Recently, two Presidents of different communities and a well-known property administrator in the area, are aiming to create another REM, this time developed by them, with the sole aim of replacing Sotogrande with a new entity, that is not a UCE, through

which the current REM would be continued, but with the difference that in this case the multimillion profits would be obtained by these three backers of the new REM. Thus, it is necessary to warn that the creation of the “new REM” would not replace the UCE, rather, it would be an interfering and unnecessary instrument, that would only result in more costs for the residents of the Marina. At APUMAS we urge all the communities of owners in the Marina to take up the integral management of their private services, directly, without getting carried away with another REM, which will not result in any real difference in relation to the current situation that we have been suffering with Sotogrande and now with Conservación de La Marina.

Educación Nada hacía presagiar el pasado septiembre que este curso escolar iba a terminar de un modo tan diferente. En un tiempo record se hizo necesario poner en marcha un colegio virtual, pasando de las aulas físicas a las aulas virtuales y del contacto personal al telemático. En ese aspecto, el colegio tenía ya mucho camino recorrido, puesto que ya era habitual la utilización de dispositivos iPads y ordenadores de uso personal por parte de los alumnos. La formación del profesorado, el nivel tecnológico alcanzado por los alumnos -el departamento de Innovación Pedagógica ha tenido un papel clave en esta andadura-, y la colaboración de las familias han hecho posible que las clases y el curso hayan transcurrido con normalidad. El confinamiento tampoco ha sido obstáculo para que el colegio mantuviera gran parte de las actividades programadas en sus últimos meses: entre otras, se han celebrado talleres literarios online, en los que alumnos de Primaria y Secundaria han trabajado sobre novelas juveniles contemporáneas con la oportunidad de encontrarse y entrevistar al autor; el Día Mundial del Medio Ambiente, con trabajos publicados en una web específica por parte de los alumnos de 4º de Secundaria y 1º de Bachillerato;

el III Congreso MIR, con conferencia plenaria, exposiciones orales y presentaciones de pósteres por parte de los alumnos de 3º de Secundaria, y el Conservatorio ha mantenido sus clases virtuales y la celebración de las correspondientes audiciones de evaluación de fin de curso. La experiencia del colegio virtual ha constituido un aprendizaje más de este curso escolar: una

nueva asignatura que ha proporcionado a los alumnos una cualificación que sin duda beneficiará su futuro profesional y personal. Con alegría y no sin cierta nostalgia el colegio ha despedido a su XLV promoción de alumnos de Bachillerato, entre los que se encuentra la II promoción del Programa del Diploma del Bachillerato Internacional.

The experience of the virtual school was another lesson from this school year: a new subject that provided pupils with a skill that will undoubtedly benefit their professional and personal future. With joy, and not without a certain nostalgia, the school bid farewell to its XLV year of Baccalaureate pupils, including the II year of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program.

En estas semanas de confinamiento se han llevado a cabo 11.000 sesiones a través de Google Meet, 4.500 tutorías con padres y alumnos, alrededor de 2.000 simulacros de exámenes de Cambridge. Todo gracias a que, detrás de cada pantalla, de cada sesión, de cada clase, hay un gran equipo de profesionales con nombre y apellidos que lo han hecho posible. Especialistas de Quirónsalud desaconsejan el uso del gel hidroalcohólico en la playa porque puede provocar quemaduras, sobre todo en pieles sensibles como la de los niños. Los dermatólogos advierten del riesgo de quemaduras al tomar el sol tras un periodo de baja o nula exposición al aire libre debido al periodo de confinamiento

El hábito de limpiarnos las manos frecuentemente con gel hidroalcohólico debe evitarse en la playa. La dermatóloga del Hospital Quirónsalud Marbella, la doctora Marta Frieyro, advierte de los efectos nocivos para la epidermis del gel higienizante en los lugares donde se está tomando el sol: “Su alto porcentaje de alcohol, en combinación con la luz solar podría originar quemaduras en la piel. Sobre todo, hay que tener especial cuidado con las pieles más sensibles como son las de los niños pequeños”. En opinión de la especialista, la absorción rápida de los geles hidroalcohólicos crea la falsa sensación de evaporación total en la piel. “Creemos que sus componentes han desaparecido totalmente de la epidermis y, sin embargo, se mantienen en su superficie por un tiempo prolongado por lo que la incidencia de los rayos del sol puede desembo-

Uso de complementos como gorros, viseras, gafas, sombrillas -Cremas fotoprotectoras. Uso de factores de protección altos de forma generosa (FPS 30-50) incluso en días nublados -Hidratación. Fundamental en época de altas temperaturas ya que la pérdida de líquidos es muy alta. -Grupos especiales de población. Evitar exposición solar directa en menores de 12 meses y uso de factores de protección muy altos.

El joven cocinero de Torreguadiaro Adrián Calvente, alumno de la Escuela de Hostelería La Inmaculada de Granada, realizó en la final un tartar ceviche de quisquilla de Motril marinada en ron Montero, acompañado con gazpacho de cítricos y aire de cilantro. Labores de limpieza y desinfección, en el Valle del Guadiaro M. G. Trabajadores municipales participaron con las labores de limpieza y desinfección en el término municipal especialmente en algunos puntos de la barriada de Torreguadiaro y el casco. Estos operarios, unos 25 con la ayuda de personal voluntario, están adscritos a la Delegación de Limpieza Viaria. En Torreguadiaro, se realizaron una limpieza a las pistas deportivas del paseo marítimo, además de otros trabajos de limpieza y desinfección por el entorno.

Paralelamente, siguen los trabajos de mantenimiento de todos los parques infantiles del municipio. La desinfección y limpieza se realiza, mientras dure el estado de alarma por Covid-19, por farmacias, centros de salud, residencias de mayores, lugares públicos, comercios de alimentación, fachadas y accesos a locales de restauración y terrazas, calzadas, aceras y espacios abiertos, especialmente donde pueda haber mayor tránsito de personas.

Constructive conversations: Setting aside, with deep respect, the mourning of those who have lost a loved one due to this illness, it is now easy to get into conversations that are endless exchanges of complaints about how bad things are. These conversations, when they don´t lead to anything constructive, are damaging to health. Regardless of what you think about how the government has managed the crisis, the virulence and transmission of the virus, the vaccine and all that; however opposing your opinions are to those of your family and friends,

try to ensure that discussions are respectful and add some constructive data. 2. Healthy habits: As there is still no vaccine or treatment, the best thing you can do is look after yourself and look after others. Doubting this should not be a source of controversy. 3. El cine de verano llega al Valle del Guadiaro La actividad, que se prolongará durante buena parte de la temporada estival, llega a San Enrique de Guadiaro el próximo domingo, 28 de junio, mientras que se proyectará una nueva película en Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro, el 5 de julio. Manuel Gil Un buen número de familias de Guadiaro se acercó al Recinto Ferial de la barriada para disfrutar de la cuarta sesión del ciclo de Cine de Verano con la proyección de “Lego 2. La Película”. Se trata de una iniciativa de la Delegación Municipal de Cultura, que tendrá continuación el próximo fin de semana en Campamento y San Enrique. “Lego 2. La cantera del golf comienza a rodar en julio • La apertura en el Club de Golf La Cañada con el XII Campamento de Verano, a partir del 29 de junio.

Manuel Gil La Cañada Golf anuncia para la primera semana de julio que los alumnos de la Escuela Municipal de Golf La Cañada reanudan sus competiciones. Previamente, tendrá lugar la apertura el XII Campamento de Verano, a partir del 29 de junio. El 3 de julio de 2020 se procede al levantamiento de la suspensión de las competiciones de la Real Federación Andaluza de Golf, comenzando con la celebración de los Campeonatos de Andalucía Individuales Masculino y Femenino. Se seguirán en todo momento las recomendaciones de las autoridades deportivas y sanitarias de la Junta de Andalucía. Se mantiene desde esa fecha (3 de julio) el calendario de competiciones publicado para

el resto del año. Las pruebas que no se han podido celebrar se intentarán disputar en otras fechas por determinar, con la excepción de los siguientes campeonatos que quedan definitivamente cancelados. Éstos son los Puntuables Nacionales Juveniles, el Torneo Interescolar de Andalucía y el Gran Premio Pequecircuito. Además del calendario previsto para el Circuito de Profesionales quedan definitivamente canceladas las pruebas de Club de Golf La Cañada, Golf Almerimar y Real Club Sevilla Golf. Estas jornadas de competición del Circuito de Profesionales se recuperarán con distinto formato. Así, el recorrido municipal de La Cañada será el primero en levantar el telón andaluz de

competiciones con la celebración del Campeonato de Andalucía Individual Absoluto a disputarse del 3 al 5 julio. Por otro lado, los alumnos de la Escuela Municipal de Golf La Cañada, reanudan sus competiciones jugando en casa, en La Cañada, el primero de dos series de torneos de categoría Infantil valedero para el ranking de escuela. La primera fecha está prevista para el 9 julio, mientras que la segunda está fijada en el calendario para el 17 julio. El mes de julio se presenta muy comprimido en cuanto a competiciones se refiere para los alumnos de la Escuela Municipal, ya que los días 11 y 12 de julio toma-

rán parte del Campeonato de Andalucía Alevín e Infantil a disputarse en el magnífico escenario de Lauro Golf (Alhaurín de la Torre). El deporte del golf de base de competición volverá a La Cañada los días 16 y 17 de julio con la puesta en marcha del Gran Premio Benjamín-Alevín. Con la llegada del verano, las vacaciones y el buen tiempo los responsables técnicos y deportivos de La Cañada han pensado en el mejor pasatiempo para los amantes del golf que aglutina a niños con

edades comprendidas de 5 a 8 años. Se trata de la apertura del XII Campamento de Verano que lleva el nombre de la entidad municipal. “El Torneo Internacional arrancará el 25 de julio y disfrutaremos de grandes jugadores como Clemente Zabaleta, Pascual Sáinz de Vicuña o Pelayo Berazadi” • El Periódico de Sotogrande habla con uno de los responsables del polo en Sotogrande para conocer en qué estado se encuentra la temporada y el Torneo Internacional Mansion de Polo este verano. Manuel Gil Sin demasiadas concesiones y para comenzar, directos al grano. Todo indica que este verano se podrá disfrutar del polo en Sotogrande. ¿Cómo de avanzado está el programa deportivo? El calendario del próximo Torneo Internacional está ya bastante avanzado, os podemos adelantar que comenzaremos el próximo 25 de Julio y finalizaremos con la final de la Copa de Oro el 30 de Agosto. El calendario definitivo serán publicado en los próximos días en nuestra página web y redes sociales.

¿El 49º TIV será una edición al uso? Es decir, con sus tres competiciones: Copa de Bronce, Plata y Oro… Sí, efectivamente seguiremos con ese formato. Vamos a tener un polo de gran nivel con grandes jugadores, nacionales e internacionales. Clemente Zabaleta, o los nacionales Pascual Sáinz de Vicuña o Pelayo Berazadi, Martín Iturraspe o Segundo Fernandez Llorente son algunos de los jugadores que ya tenemos confirmados y que darán espectáculo este verano en las instalaciones del Santa Maria Polo Club.

Habrá diferentes competiciones en julio? Si, La idea es que se celebren todos los torneos programados en el calendario oficial y que teneis a disposición en nuestra página Web.

La cumbre de la temporada inglesa de polo coincidirá con el verano en Sotogrande, ¿cómo afectará esta situación a los grandes patrones y jugadores más valorados del mundo del polo? Esta situación realmente no nos ha afectado, los equipos que este año no participarán en nuestro Torneo no lo hacen por este motivo sino por los derivados de la pandemia y la dificultad que tienen para moverse de forma internacional, así nos lo han explicado y nosotros lo hemos entendido, esperándoles para la próxima edición.

¿Se trabaja ya para el Torneo Internacional de Verano? Háblenos un poco de la actualidad del club. El club, y cuando se habla del mismo, hablamos de todo el personal que lo compone, desde jardineros, personal de administración, mantenimiento… trabaja con esmero todo el año para llegar a nuestra cita con el Torneo Internacional, que exige que todas las instalaciones estén al más alto nivel. Las canchas están impecables, y las instalaciones están preparadas para acoger una vez más a todos los visitantes que quieran disfrutar de un gran espacio abierto y de gran belleza.

El Ayuntamiento de San Roque ha manifestado públicamente su total apoyo a la celebración del torneo, incluso como patrocinador de alguna de las competiciones. ¿Con qué otros grandes apoyos cuentan?

“La idea es que durante julio se celebren todos los torneos que había programados” “El titular es que este verano habbrá polo de gran nivel y que Santa María está preparado para acoger un gran torneo” Estamos muy agradecidos, como siempre, de contar con el apoyo del Ayuntamiento, este año, especialmente ha estado como siempre a nuestro lado, ayudando en todo lo que le hemos pedido. Nos gustaría destacar también la colaboración de la Junta de Andalucía que mantiene un año más su apuesta por este evento. También contamos de nuevo con el apoyo de nuestro patrocinador principal MANSION, al que queremos agradecer especialmente que vuelva a estar este año con nosotros en tiempos tan complicados para el patrocinio de cualquier evento. Todas las actividades relacionadas con el ocio, que serán muchas, respetarán estas medidas, y estamos seguros que la gente disfrutará de un día divertido, viendo polo de alto nivel, tiendas con grandes marcas y

variedad, y una restauración de alta calidad, todo ello, como comento, respetando en todo momento las medidas de seguridad para todos. ¿Puede darnos, para cerrar, algún titular o gran sorpresa a desvelar? Nueva competición en Santa María Polo Club, en este reinicio de la temporada polística en la zona (con todas las medidas pertinentes de seguridad e higiene); en este caso con una de las competiciones que más solera está adquiriendo en los últimos años, la quinta edición de la Copa Patrick G. Hermés. En esta ocasión, el cuarteto de 25 Montes (A. Gariador, D. Gariador, P. Neves y L. Reyrink) se hizo con el triunfo tras vencer en dos de los tres encuentros que tuvo que disputar, en concreto, superó a Sapphire y Nalu Pulu, cediendo únicamente contra Redcharm en la jornada inicial. La Federación Andaluza de Rugby coronó campeón de Segunda Andaluza (Grupo Central) al equipo Senior de Holmes Sotogrande Rugby del Estrecho. El conjunto dirigido por los entrenadores Ezequiel Vigo y Phil Nilsen jugará la próxima temporada en Primera Andaluza, y ya se trabaja a fondo en la parcela deportiva anunciando los fichajes de Felix Harper y Connor Beer. Se acabó la incertidumbre para los equipos de rugby de la categoría de Segunda Andaluza, que se encontraban inmersos en la lucha por ascender de categoría hasta el parón obligado por la llegada de la Covid-19. Este sábado, día 13 de junio, se celebró la asamblea general de la Federación Andaluza de Rugby, en la que se tomó la decisión de dar por finiquitado el curso 2019/2020 en todas las ligas y categorías. Desde Holmes Sotogrande Rugby del Estrecho, la entidad que preside David Arias, se anunció que en la

A falta de la confirmación oficial, desde Holmes Sotogrande Ruby del Estrecho la noticia se recibió con gran alegría. Arias indicó que “ha sido el culmen al trabajo de tres temporadas cargadas de aprendizaje y crecimiento dentro de una plantilla joven que ha tenido muy claro cual

era el objetivo del club desde el principio”. “Es una pena -añade- no haber luchado el ascenso en los cruces de Play Off”, aunque también es cierto que “hasta el día que llegó parón en la competición el equipo se había ganado con creces el liderato en el Grupo Central, en el que solo había cedido en un partido durante todo el curso”. Así, directiva y cuerpo técnico trabajan desde ya en la parcela deportiva previa a la temporada en Primera Andaluza, a un escalón de División de Honor, donde se medirá a equipos de la talla del Puerto de Santa María, Universidad de Granada o CAR Sevilla. Las nuevas incorporaciones al primer equipo no se han hecho esperar, y este lunes Rugby del Estrecho ha anunciado dos fichajes de cara a la próxima temporada. Se trata de Felix Harper y Connor Beer. Harper, por un lado, aterriza en San

Roque con la vitola de ser un jugador muy rápido, con gran pase y visión de juego. Aportará su experiencia en la posición del medio de melé, en la que lleva jugando varios años en Inglaterra en los clubes Bishop’s Stortford Rugby Club (2015-2017); Bishop’s Stortford College 1st XV (2015-2017); y Southampton University Rugby Club (2017-2020). Por otro lado, Connor Beer llega para reforzar la tercera línea del equipo. Se trata de un jugador de gran calidad y que destaca por su velocidad y técnica. Ha militado en clubes como el inglés Chippenham RFC (2017-2019); o el canadiense Bayside Sharks, en 2018. Ha sido internacional y capitán con la selección de Irlanda Sub 18, e internacional con la selección española Sub 20. Pesar en el mundo del polo por el fallecimiento de Craig McKinney

Manuel Gil los negocios ligado al mundo de las finanzas. Con la clásica remera amarilla con franjas negras, en la mayoría de las ocasiones, Woodchester de la mano de Craig McKinney era todo un clásico en las temporadas de polo de Sotogrande. Torneos como el Memorial Enrique Zobel, Campeonato de Andalucía, Torneo Toñadejo, Andrés Parladé, Doña María de las Mercedes y muchos otros galardones en verano y todo el año, figuran en su amplio palmarés. El Periódico de Sotogrande y POLO by La Bocha, se suman a todas estas muestras de afecto hacia uno de los grandes animadores del polo en Sotogrande en los últimos años.

Desafortunada y triste noticia para los aficionados y amantes del mundo del polo. El reciente fallecimiento del escocés Craig McKinney, uno de los nombres más habituales de la temporada en Sotogrande de la mano de Woodchester, falleció a los 71 años de edad tras una enfermedad. En los últimos días, son numerosas las muestras de apoyo y condolencias transmitidas a la familia tanto de entidades e instituciones del mundo del polo, como Santa María Polo Club y otros clubes del entorno, así como de jugadores y aficionados que disfrutan con él de su pasión por el caballo y el polo.
