Comienza el curso escolar más atípico que se recuerda en las últimas décadas, con muchísima incertidumbre sobre el desarrollo de la habitual práctica educativa con la pandemia COVID-19, de fondo. Si hace unos días ya comenzó la actividad en varios centros privados de la zona, ahora le toca el turno a la mayoría de colegios públicos de Infantil y Primaria que se enfrentan al reto de dar normalidad a la situación más compleja a nivel social que se recuerda. Salidas y entradas escalonadas y segmentadas por cursos y accesos distintos; mascarillas en zonas comunes; protocolos de desinfección, grupos de convivencia, distancia de seguridad y mucho procedimientos más toman un protagonismo nunca antes visto en los centros educativos y condicionan todo el sistema de la educación a expensas de la espera de que no se produzca una brote importante de positivos en la ‘Vuelta al cole’. Guarderías, CEIP Gloria Fuertes, CEIP Barbésula, IES Sierra Almenara (el próximo lunes) y centro privados como Colegio San José o Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande vuelve a las aulas, con la mejor preparación posible ante esta situación (muchas son las quejas de padres de centros públicos relacionadas con los protocolos de limpieza y atención a los menores). No se pierda, como cada año en la edición del mes de septiembre de El Periódico de Sotogrande (el que tiene en sus manos), el informe de la comunidad educativa local, actualizado cada curso. La realidad es que arranca un curso lleno de incertidumbre y con muy pocas cosas claras de cómo acabará. Todo el entramado y sistema político vinculado a la Educación ha tenido cerca de medio año (probablemente más), para preparar una vuelta a las aulas con garantías. Si no se ha conseguido, con fiabilidad, en buena parte es por esa falta de coordinación y centralización de muchos aspectos fundamentales para la sociedad, como es la educación (alrededor de la que gira nuestra jornada laboral y modelo de vida civil). En definitiva, tenía una para septiembre y nuestros políticos han vuelto a suspender.

The most atypical school year in memory for recent decades is beginning, with lots of uncertainty about how to carry out regular educational practices with the COVID-19 pandemic in the background. Don´t miss, like every year in the September edition of El Periódico de Sotogrande (which you are holding), the report on the local educational community, updated every year. The reality is that a year is getting underway full of uncertainty and with very few things clear about how it will finish. The entire framework and political system linked to Education has had close to half a year (probably more), to prepare a return to classrooms with guarantees. If this has not been achieved, with assurance, to a large extent it is due to the lack of coordination and centralisation of many crucial aspects for society, like education (around which our working day and model of civil life revolves). Ultimately, they had one job for September and our politicians have failed again.

¿Y ahora qué?

And now what?

Pese a todas las incertidumbres, como bien plantea nuestra portada en esta edición del periódico, que aparecen al inicio del curso escolar es todo un lujo y por qué no decirlo, un merecido reconocimiento, presentar una edición como la que tienen en sus manos de El Periódico de Sotogrande. Un resumen de un final de verano e inicio de septiembre apasionante lleno de actividades, atractivos y con un potencial de imagen exterior de Sotogrande, sencillamente apabullante. En todos los aspectos: golf, polo, vela, turismo, gastronomía. Todo, en las últimas semanas, invitaban a posicionar este resort entre uno de los puntos más convenientes de toda la costa mediterránea. Así, es. Muchas de todas circunstancias, empujadas por la iniciativa privada (a un porcentaje altísimo de diferencia respecto a lo público), que han animado un verano que se vaticinaba algo catastrófico y atípico pero que en resultados, finalmente, se ha podido amainar con el buen hacer, ingenio, creatividad y recursos del tejido empresarial local. Salvar los muebles y tomar un poco de aire ante una perspectiva de mercado tan congelada y llena de incógnitas a largo plazo. La cuestión a plantear y que más preocupa, no sólo a nivel educativo o periodístico (en estos casos, que también); sino al nivel de inversión, desarrollo y negocio es qué pasará en los próximos meses. Los que me conocen saben que siempre soy más impulsor que detractor y prefiero las iniciativas que sumen a las inmovilistas. Lo que no se mueve, no crece ni fructifica. Pero tras un verano en el que aparecían eventos, acontecimientos y propuestas en el horizonte muy ilusionantes para al menos consolidar, si no se puede crecer, lo que ya tenemos y los flujos de negocio habituales en la zona; el futuro que se plantea en otoño o invierno (echando la pelota un poco más lejos), tampoco se presenta con demasiadas certezas y si la alternativa es esperar planes del Ejecutivo Central, autonómico o local poco margen para grandes estrategias podemos esperar. Nos tocará, nuevamente, mover ficha al tejido empresarial y reinventarse hasta encontrar las teclas acertadas y no detener la economía local. Una situación que ni siquiera cabe plantearse. Es evidente que en situaciones así, tan críticas y complejas, se acentúan los aspectos positivos o deficiencias de una administración, compañía o entorno. Pero para intuiciones sagaces también es una oportunidad perfecta de ampliar fronteras, horizontes y nichos de mercado. Toca empujar, apostar por nosotros mismos, nuestras empresas y nuestros tangibles/intangibles: deporte de lujo, sector inmobiliario de calidad, educación sobresaliente, seguridad, espacios abiertos, mar y todo lo bueno. Apostemos por ello, mostremos nuestras posibilidades y hagamos que no se detenga la rueda en este nuevo curso. Despite all the uncertainties that are emerging at the start of the school year, as our cover of this edition outlines, it is a real luxury and why not say it, a deserved recognition, to present an edition like that which you are holding of El Periódico de Sotogrande. A summary of the end of summer and an exciting start of September full of activities, attractions and with potential to present an exterior image of Sotogrande that is simply dazzling. In all aspects: golf, polo, sailing, tourism, gastronomy. Everything, over recent weeks, would lead us to position this resort as one of the most desirable areas on the entire Mediterranean coast. That is what it is. Many of all the circumstances, driven by private initiatives (at a much higher rate compared to public ones), have livened up a summer that looked like it might be catastrophic and atypical but ultimately, in terms of results, things were eased with the good work, wit, creativity and resources of the local business community. Saving face and taking a little breather faced with the prospect of a market that is at a standstill and full of longterm uncertainty. The question to consider and that is most worrying, not only on an educational or journalism level (in these cases, those too); but also in terms of investment, development and business is what will happen over the coming months. Those who know me are aware that I am always more of a supporter than a critic and I prefer initiatives that involve the immobile. What doesn´t move, doesn´t grow or flourish. However, after a summer where events, developments and proposals appeared on the horizon that were very exciting to at least consolidate, if it is not possible to grow, what we already have and the regular business flow in the area; the future in autumn or winter (looking forward a little further), doesn´t look very certain either and if the alternative is to await plans from Central Executive, regional or local government leaves little room for big strategies we can wait. We will once again have to make a move in business community and reinvent ourselves to find the right answers and not stop the local economy. A situation that we cannot even consider. It is clear that in such situations, that are so critical and difficult, the positive aspects or shortcomings of an administration, company or area are accentuated. However, for astute intuitions it is also a perfect chance to expand frontiers, horizons and market niches. It is time to drive forward, commit to ourselves, our companies and our tangible/intangible assets: luxury sport, the quality property sector, outstanding education, security, open spaces, sea and everything good. Let´s commit to it, let´s show off our possibilities and let´s ensure that the ball doesn´t stop rolling in this new year. Vecinos de Sotogrande denuncian la preocupante pérdida de arena en la playa • Una reunión con la Dirección General de Costas, el primer paso para tratar la recuperación de esta zona del litoral. • Desde la obra de los espigones (a partir de 2012), se han tenido que efectuar varias acciones para la regeneración de la playa, con arena de la desembocadura del río Guadiaro. Una representación de propietarios de las viviendas conocidas como “Lacasitos” (en Sotogrande), alertaron al Ayuntamiento de San Roque [en un encuentro con su máximo representante], de la alarmante y continuada pérdida de arena en esa zona del litoral. Junto a la primera autoridad estuvieron los ediles de la zona, Oscar Ledesma, y de Medio Ambiente, Juan Serván, y un técnico de esta delegación y otro de Urbanismo, que escucharon la demanda de los propietarios, a los

que el agua del mar les lega a sus viviendas. El alcalde [Ruiz Boix] señaló que se va a solicitar una reunión a la Dirección General de Costas, dependiente del Ministerio de Medio Ambiente, “para tratar de encontrar una respuesta técnica a la problemática de la pérdida de arena en esta playa, conocida como El Cucurucho”. Ruiz Boix recordó que esta problemática se remonta ya a una década y confía en que “se pueda encontrar una solución técnica con el apoyo del gobierno y la defensa de que la

actuación sea prioritaria y no tengamos que lamentar nuevas incidencias negativas”. En marzo de 2012 se iniciaron unas obras de urgencia en esa zona, ya que sólo en los años 2011 y 2012 en esta zona de la playa de Sotogrande se perdieron más de 12.000 metros cuadrados de arena por los temporales de invierno y primavera. Hay que recordar, también, que en septiembre de 2010 el Pleno de la Corporación aprobó por unanimidad un anteproyecto denominado “Estabilización del frente litoral de la

playa sur de la desembocadura del río Guadiaro”, que fue redactado por técnicos de la Gerencia Municipal de Urbanismo. Este proyecto preveía la construcción de pequeños espigones perpendiculares a la costa de unos sesenta metros, acompañados de una regeneración de la playa con la aportación de unos 120.000 metros cúbicos de arena. En 2016, el alcalde alertó que era insuficiente el aporte de arena que la Demarcación de Costas había realizado en la playa de Sotogrande. Se estima que se apor-

taron 10.000 metros cúbicos de arena, aunque la Junta permitía 40.000 y esa fue la cantidad solicitada por el Ayuntamiento. En 2015 el alcalde advertía que “hasta ahora hemos actuado por motivos de seguridad con fondos de los vecinos y de las empresas radicadas en la zona de Sotogrande. Desde hace varios meses en la playa de Sotogrande existe un riesgo importante, porque el mar ya ha penetrado directamente en las construcciones y viviendas, en las conocidas como ‘Casas de colores’”.

Since the work on the breakwaters (from 2012 on), several actions have had to be taken to regenerate the beach, with sand from the mouth of the Guadiaro river.

A delegation of owners from the properties known as “Lacasitos” (in Sotogrande), warned the Council of San Roque (at a meeting with its head representative) of the alarming and continued loss of sand in that area of the coastline. Alongside the top authority were the councillors for the area, Oscar Ledesma, and for the Environment, Juan Serván, and a technician from this department and another from Urban Planning, who listened to the demand from the owners whose properties are being reached by seawater. The mayor [Ruiz Boix] pointed out that a meeting will be requested with the General Directorate of Coasts, which comes under the Ministry of the Environment, “to try to find a technical answer for the problem of the loss of sand on this beach, known as El Cucurucho”. Ruiz Boix recalled that this problem stretches back a decade already and he is confident that “a technical solution can be found with the support of the government and the argument that action is a priority and that we should not have to regret new negative incidents”. In March 2012, urgent work began in the area, as in 2011 and 2012 alone in this area of Sotogrande beach, more than 12,000 square metres of sand were lost due to the winter and spring storms. It is also worth remembering that in September 2010, the Plenary of the Corporation unanimously approved a preliminary project named “Stabilisation of the coastline of the southern beach of the mouth of the Guadiaro River” which was drafted by technicians from the Municipal Management of Urban Planning. This project envisaged the construction of small breakwaters running perpendicular to the coastline, measuring sixty metres, accompanied by regeneration of the beach with the provision of 120,000 cubic metres of sand. In 2016, the mayor warned that the provision of sand of the Coastal Department on Sotogrande Beach was insufficient. It is estimated that 10,000 cubic metres of sand were provided, however the Regional Government allowed 40,000 and that was the amount requested by the Coun-

cil. In 2015 the mayor warned that “up until now we have acted out of safety reasons with funds

from residents and from the companies based in the Sotogrande area. For several months there

has been a significant risk on Sotogrande beach, because the sea has already directly penetrated

buildings and homes, which are known as the ´Coloured Houses´”.

San Roque: un momento clave para la inversión

• El alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, mantiene un encuentro con algunos de los principales promotores y constructores de viviendas en el municipio para impulsar el desarrollo de este sector y aprovechar las oportunidades del mercado. El alcalde de San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, y el teniente de alcalde de Urbanismo, Juan Manuel Ordóñez, mantuvieron un encuentro con distintos promotores urbanísticos y de empresas de construcción al objeto de ofrecerles la posibilidad de construir viviendas en varios puntos del municipio. El objetivo de esta reunión se fijó incrementar el patrimonio de viviendas de tipo social en varias barriadas del municipio, a la vez que generar empleo y crear riqueza. Los asistentes a la reunión ejecutan

en la actualidad obras de viviendas en puntos del municipio como San Roque Club, Alcaidesa o Sotogrande, todas destinadas a personas con alto nivel económico. El alcalde transmitió a los constructores que en San Roque “son unas 400 las personas inscritas en el Registro Municipal de Viviendas, que si bien no cuentan con los recursos para poder acceder a esas viviendas que se están construyendo en las urbanizaciones, sí podrían optar a viviendas de renta libre ubicadas en los distintos núcleos de población.” Recordó el

alcalde que “en la ciudad de San Roque y en las 9 barriadas no se han realizado construcciones de este tipo en los últimos 5 años, ya que las últimas construcciones fueron los edificios Eduardo López y Andrés Merchán, con una suma de más de 200 viviendas, y que corresponden a los años 2013 y 2014”. El alcalde señaló que “hay muchas familias jóvenes, que se han ido formando en los últimos 5 años, que tienen dificultad para acceder al mercado de vivienda libre”. Por ello, desde el Ayuntamiento se

solicita “cooperación y colaboración de empresas que tienen beneficios y que tienen márgenes para inversiones, a las que le he pedido que hagan un estudio de mercado que les permite también tener ánimo de lucro, porque son empresas privadas, y que puedan optar a nuevos beneficios, pero en este caso están complementando una carencia social como es la no construcción de viviendas en nuestro municipio”. Desveló que “por parte de la delegación de Urbanismo hemos realizado un estudio para encontrar parcelas,

pastillas urbanísticas, edificios abandonados, que podrían tener todos los visos para poder acometer actuaciones y que contara únicamente con la necesidad de la financiación y de construir esas viviendas y que luego se puedan comercializar cuanto antes”. Mostró Ruiz Boix su deseo de contar con “empresas constructoras que alimenten el sector de la construcción, que generen actividad, riqueza y empleo, y que al mismo tiempo cubran una demanda de viviendas en los distintos núcleos de población”.

The mayor of San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, and the delegate for Urban Planning, Juan Manuel Ordóñez, held a meeting with different urban planning developers and building companies in order to offer them the chance to build properties in several areas of the municipality. The aim of the meeting was to increase the amount of social housing in several neighbourhoods in the municipality, while also creating employment and wealth. Those attending the meeting are currently producing housing works in areas of the municipality such as San Roque Club, Alcaidesa and Sotogrande, all aimed at people with high purchasing power.

The mayor informed the builders that in San Roque “there are 400 people registered in the Municipal Housing Registry, who although they do not have the resources to access the properties that are being built in the resorts, can apply for non-regulated rental properties located in the different population centres.” The mayor recalled that “in the city of San Roque and in the 9 neighbourhoods, constructions of this kind have not been created over the last 5 years, as the last constructions were the Eduardo López and Andrés Merchán buildings, with a total of more than 200 properties, created in the years 2013 and 2014”. The mayor pointed out that “there are many

young families, that have formed over the last 5 years, who have difficulty entering the non-regulated rental market”. Thus, the Council has requested the “cooperation and collaboration of companies that have benefits and that have margins for investments, who I have asked to carry out a market study that also allows them to have a profit motive, because they are private companies, and can apply for new benefits, but in this case they are complementing a social deficiency, that of properties not being built in our municipality”. He revealed that “the Urban planning department has carried out a study to find plots, pieces of land

that can be developed, abandoned buildings, which could get all the permits to carry out work and that would only need funding and building the properties which can then be sold as soon as possible”. Ruiz Boix outlined his desire to

have “construction companies that feed the construction sector, that generate activity, wealth and employment, and that at the same time they meet a demand for properties in the different population centres”.

Banca y tamaño En principio, el tamaño importa, y parece que es mejor ser grande que pequeño. La primera evaluación de la anunciada fusión entre CaixaBank y Bankia debería ser, por tanto, positiva. Pero las cosas no son siempre lo que parecen, y en el mundo empresarial la clave de la solidez no es el volumen sino la competitividad. La historia de las fusiones empresariales no avala un diagnóstico claro: algunas tienen éxito y muchas otras no. En el caso de la banca española, ha tenido lugar un proceso que lleva ya años para reducir entidades y sucursales, y fortalecer el sistema financiero. Esto ha dado resultados satisfactorios, aunque con una importante excepción en las cajas de ahorro, y, en particular, en Bankia. Es curioso que la izquierda radical insista en la necesidad de una banca pública después del oneroso desastre que organizaron en las cajas de ahorro los políticos y los grupos de interés, empezando por los sindicatos. Pero también allí hubo excepciones, y CaixaBank es un buen ejemplo, que ahora se junta con el otro extremo. Mientras asistimos al desarrollo de los acontecimientos, cabe subrayar que el tamaño de la nueva entidad no será necesa-

Pero sí sabemos tres cosas: que el tamaño importa mucho menos que la competitividad; que es mejor mantener a los políticos apartados de los negocios en general, y de la banca en particular; y que rescatar con dinero público cualquier empresa de gran tamaño es mucho más gravoso para los ciudadanos que hacerlo con una pequeña.

In principle, size matters, and it seems that it is better to be big than small. The first assessment of the announced merger between CaixaBank and Bankia should thus be positive. However, things aren´t always what they seem, and in the business world the key to strength isn´t volume but rather competitiveness. The history of business mergers doesn´t endorse a clear diagnosis: some are successful and many others are not. In the case of Spanish banking, a process has taken place over years now to reduce banks and braches, and to strengthen the financial system. This has provided satisfactory results, although with a significant exception with savings banks, and, in particular, Bankia. It is strange that the radical left insists on the need for a public bank after the burdensome disaster organised in savings banks by politicians and interest groups, beginning with trade unions. However, there were also exceptions, and Caixa Bank is a good example, that is now joining the other extreme. While we witness the development of events, it is worth highlighting that the size of the new entity will not necessarily

be an asset, rather, from the outset, a liability, and the analysts agree that the key will be cost reduction, beginning with an inevitable and painful reduction of staff. In so-called liberal economies, which in reality have lots of intervention, like the current ones, the banking business is even more regulated and controlled than the others. Furthermore, the expansive monetary policies of central banks push interest rates down and thus also the brokerage margin of the bank. We are a long way from knowing if this operation, influenced by important political considerations, and tensions with those backing independence and the far-left, will ultimately be fruitful, and if the State will recover the large amount it took from tax payers and allocated to the rescue of Bankia. However, we do know three things: that size is much less important than competitiveness; that it is better to keep politicians away from business in general, and from banking in particular; and that rescuing any large company with public money is much more onerous for citizens than doing so with a small one.

• El nuevo curso 2020-2021 comienza con 2.738 alumnos inscritos en los diferentes centros educativos locales. • El Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande supera el millar de alumnos, por segundo curso consecutivo. • A pocos kilómetros de Sotogrande se sitúan varios de los mejores centros del país, destacando dos de ellos, en el ‘Top 100’ nacional.

La comunidad escolar del Valle del Guadiaro supera los los 2.700 alumnos este curso Comienza un nuevo curso , sin duda, de los más atípicos y complejos por toda la sugestión y protocolos de prevención que acarrea su inicio en mitad de la pandemia COVID-19. Al margen de todo lo sustancial y notable por los cambios innato del coronavirus (accesos, protocolos, medidas, prevención, etc.), frente a todo eso, la vuelta al cole en el Valle del Guadiaro y Sotogrande también es sinónimo de calidad. El curso escolar 2020-2021 arranca en el Valle del Guadiaro (y su área de influencia más cercana) con un incremento en la cuota de integrantes en su comunidad escolar. En números estimados (hasta que no comience a rodar el curso plenamente e incluso ya en marcha estas cifras pueden variar), la comunidad escolar local se sitúa este año en unos 2.738 alumnos (aprox.) en total, una cifra que crece respecto a registros anteriores en los que se situaba en 2.682 (2019), 2.550 (en 2018), 2.440 (en 2017), 2.183 alumnos (en 2016) o la doble unidad de millar, a secas, en 2015.

Comunidad escolar local Como es tradición, el Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande (SIS) lidera el número de estudiantes inscritos para este curso en la zona. Este año afronta el curso superando el millar de alumnos en sus aulas (concretamente 1070), lo que supone un nivel de matriculación altísimo y en la misma línea que el pasado curso. Respecto al volumen de multiculturalidad en su aulas, destaca que el 70% de los mismos sean de origen extranjero, haciendo muy rica su comunidad culturalmente. Hasta más de 50 nacionalidades diferentes conviven entre sus clases; siendo la predominante la española seguida de la británica. Destacar, además de las más habituales, procedencias tan exóticas como Botswana, Arabia Saudí, Egipto, Santo Domingo o Malasia. Destacar también que cuenta con un número de profesores de 117, un dato que es otra gran referencia en el sector. Entre las novedades y credenciales que presenta el centro este curso destacan todos los protocolos an-

ti-coronavirus, entre los que resaltan las pruebas a todo los profesionales (para garantizar la seguridad del centro). Se ofrece a todos los estudiantes un modelo híbrido de aprendizaje para el primer mes de escuela, combinando clases tradicionales con clases virtuales para aquellos estudiantes que no pueden asistir a la escuela mientras están en cuarentena. Y por supuesto, resalta el nuevo edificio de Secundaria que estará completo y listo para abrir en enero de 2020, con aulas de última generación, laboratorios de diseño y espacio de oficinas, así como espacios deportivos También se encuentra ya en marcha, desde el principios del mes de septiembre, el nuevo curso para las guarderías y centros de primera edad. Los puntos municipales de Campanilla (San Enrique), con 35 plazas, y de Puente de Hierro en Pueblo Nuevo, con 41 plazas, habría que sumarle un cifra cercana al centenar que se reparte entre las diferentes guarderías privadas de la urbanización y todo el Valle del Guadiaro.

Recuperando el hilo de mayor masa académica, tras el internacional sotograndino se situaría el CEIP Gloria Fuertes (repartido en zonas de Infantil y Primaria en Guadiaro y Pueblo Nuevo, respectivamente). En total acumula hasta el momento un total de 577 alumnos inscritos, lo que supone un crecimiento también respecto a los 570 del pasado curso. Se reparten entre 199 alumnos en Educación Infantil (Guadiaro), mientras que en Educación Primaria concurrirán

este curso un total de 378 escolares (Pueblo Nuevo). Mencionar, en el siguiente apartado, al CEIP Barbésula en San Enrique de Guadiaro que durante mantiene su censo. Este año alcanza los 170 alumnos. Para cerrar el capítulo local, el último en iniciar el curso en el IES Sierra Almenara (en Pueblo Nuevo). El centro, que ya sólo cuenta con niveles de secundaria, cifra en 339 alumnos, con un importante incremento respecto a los 280 (aprox.) del pasado curso.

Alumnos que estudian fuera del distrito Un amplio número de residentes de la urbanización y todo el Valle del Guadiaro eligen matricularse en centros vecinos y colegios cercanos. Tal es el caso de prácticamente un número cercano al medio millar, en muchos casos, buscando una diferenciación educativa a la propuesta de la zona. Tal es el caso del Colegio San José, en Estepona. Este centro, que año tras años continúa consolidado entre los 100 mejores del país, recibe diariamente a más de un centenar de estudiantes procedentes de Sotogrande. En su mayoría de procedencia española aunque las nacionalidades británicas y rusas le siguen muy de cerca. También conviven en el centro procedencias como la belga, italiana, holandesa o francesa, entre muchas otras hasta alcanzar la cifra de 16 países. Su bachillerato internacional y las impresionantes infraestructuras y oferta educativa, convierten al San José en uno de los colegios más demandados de toda la Costa del sol.

Los centros algecireños de Montecalpe y Puertoblanco son también dos de los destinos más demandados por la comunidad escolar local. Más de un centenar de estudiantes se desplazan cada día hasta estos dos colegios, divididos por sexos, para cursos sus estudios. Caso similar ocurre con las ofertas educativas en Gibraltar, centros como Loreto o Prior albergan a casi medio centenar de estudiantes de la zona. Algo más voluminosa es la cifra de los escolares del Valle del Guadiaro, estudiantes de bachillerato, que pasan a San Roque Casco a cursar sus estudios, aproximadamente unos 150. En resumen, el Valle del Guadiaro y Sotogrande conforman una amplia comunidad educativa, cercana a la del cualquier municipio medio de la provincia en el que destaca su alto nivel educativo como atractivo y modelo de referencia cara al exterior.

Protocolos COVID, en colegios públicos de la zona En esta pieza, perfilamos algunos de los aspectos más destacados de los planes de seguridad que implementa en este inicio de curso la Consejería de Educación en la Junta de Andalucía; concretamente tomamos como referencia el del CEIP Gloria Fuertes (en Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro). Destaca, en primer lugar, los diferentes puntos (hasta 2/3 distintos), de acceso y salida de alumnos según clases y cursos para evitar la aglomeración de alumnos/padres en los puntos marcados. También, el uso obligatorio de mascarilla, a partir de 6 años, en prácticamente todo momento menos en el aula (entrada/ salida, visitas al baño, zonas comunes, talleres o comedor); así como la pertenencia únicamente y todo el tiempo con su grupo de convivencia asignado(su aula, no superior a los 25 miembros). Entre ellos sí podrán socializar. Destacar también la división por parcelas de las zonas exteriores para recreo y actividades al aire libre, designadas a cada aula/curso. Lo mismo que ocurre para los baños, es decir, cada clase/curso tiene asignado un cuarto de aseo/zona determinada. Remarcar también el exhaustivo protocolo obligado de limpieza de manos y desinfección a la entrada y salida de alumnos y personal. Lavado de manos, ventilación y rutinas de limpieza se incrementan también, en la medida de lo posible en cada centro aunque la toma de temperatura se descarga en responsabilidad de los padres antes de acudir al colegio. Entradas y salidas escalonadas, así como recreos, evitarán grandes aglomeraciones de alumnos según establece el plan original de la Junta para el centro. Con carácter general también se establece la distancia de seguridad (1,5/2 metros), en todos los ámbitos del colegio. School community in Valle del Guadiaro surpasses 2,700 pupils this year A new year is beginning, undoubtedly, one of the most atypical and difficult due to all the recommendations and prevention protocols entailed by its start in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Aside from all the substantial and notable matters relating to the inherent changes of coronavirus (entrances, protocols, measures, prevention, etc.), in the face of all that, the return to school in Valle del Guadiaro and Sotogrande is also synonymous with quality. The 2020-2021 school year is getting underway in Valle del Guadiaro (and its closest area of influence) with an increase in the number of members in its school community. In terms of estimate numbers (until the year fully begins and even when it is underway, these figures may vary), the school community this year has

around 2,738 pupils (approx.) in total, a figure that rises in relation to previous records where it was 2,682 (2019), 2,550 (in 2018), 2,440 (in 2017), 2,183 pupils (in 2016) and two thousand precisely in 2015. Local school community As is traditional, Sotogrande International School (SIS) leads the list for the number of students enrolled for this year in the area. This year it is heading into the school year with over one thousand pupils in its classrooms (1070 to be specific), which is an extremely high level of enrolment and in the same vein as last year. With regard to the level of multiculturalism in its classroom, what stands out is that 70% of pupils are foreign, making its community very rich culturally. Up to more than 50 nationalities mix together in its

classes; the predominant nationality is Spanish, followed by the British. In addition to the customary ones, we should also highlight pupils from exotic places such as Botswana, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Santo Domingo and Malaysia. It is also worth highlighting that the number of teachers is 117, a figure that is another great benchmark in the sector. Among the new features and credentials that the school is presenting this year, the anti-coronavirus protocols stand out, including tests on all professionals (to guarantee the safety of the school). A hybrid learning model is being offered to all students for the first month of school, combining traditional classes with virtual classes for students who cannot come to school while they are in quarantine. And of course, the new Secondary building stands out, it will

be complete and ready to open in January 2020, with state-of-the-art classrooms, designer laboratories and office space, and sports spaces. Also, since the start of September, the new year for nurseries and early school pupils is also underway. There are the municipal points of Campanilla (San Enrique), with 35 places, and Puente de Hierro in Pueblo Nuevo, with 41 places, as well as a figure of close to one hundred spread around the different private nurseries in the resort and all of Valle del Guadiaro. Returning to the subject of highest pupil numbers, after Sotogrande International School, is CEIP Gloria Fuertes (divided among the Preschool and Primary areas in Guadiaro and Pueblo Nuevo respectively). In this piece, we outline some of the most notable aspects of the security plans that the Department of Education of the Regional Government of Andalusia is implementing at the start of the year; specifically, we are using the CEIP Gloria Fuerte (in Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro) as a reference. Firstly, it is worth highlighting the different points (up to 2/3 different ones) for pupils to enter and exit according to classes and years to prevent the crowding of pupils/parents in the marked areas. Also, the use of masks, from the age of 6 up, is obligatory at practically all times apart from in the classroom (entering/exiting, trips to the bathroom, communal areas, workshops and canteen); and it is also obligatory to only stay with the assigned group all the time (your class, no more than 25 members). They can socialise with one another. It is also worth highlighting the division of outside areas into plots for recreation and outdoor activities, assigned to each class/ year. The same applies to bathrooms, that is to say, each class/year is assigned a bathroom/specific area. It is also worth emphasising the rigorous obligatory protocol for hand cleaning and disinfection at the entrance and exit for pupils and staff. Hand washing, ventilation and cleaning routines also increase, as far as possible in each centre although taking temperature will be the responsibility of parents before going to school. There will be staggered entry and exit, as well as breaks, large crowds of pupils will be avoided in accordance with the original plan of the Regional Government for the centre. choose to enrol in neighbouring and nearby schools. This is the case of practically around five hundred pupils, often seeking a different education to the offer in the area. Such is the case of Colegio San José, in Estepona. This school, which year after year continues to establish its position among the 100 best in the country, receives more than one hundred students from Sotogrande each day. Most are Spanish, although the British and Russian nationalities follow closely behind. The school also has nationalities such as pupils from Belgium, Italy, Holland and France, among many others, 16 countries in total. Its international baccalaureate and the impressive infrastructures and range of education make San José one of the most sought-after schools on the entire Costa del Sol. The Algeciras schools of Montecalpe and Puertoblanco are also two of the destinations sought after by the local school community. More than one hundred students travel each day to these two schools, which are divided by gender, to undertake their studies. There is a similar situation with the range of education in Gibraltar, schools such as Loreto and Prior house almost fifty students from the area. Somewhat higher is the number of school pupils from Valle del Guadiaro, baccalaureate students, who come to study, approximately 150. In short, Valle del Guadiaro and Sotogrande form an extensive educational community, close to that of any average municipality in the province, and stands out for its high level of education as an attraction and a reference model to the outside world.

Comunidad El PIVG, a través de su portavoz Jesús Mayoral, denunció la falta de más efectivos e inversión en la zona del Valle del Guadiaro durante la temporada estival, precisamente cuando mayor crece la población en este distrito y el volumen de visitantes. Recuerda a Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, alcalde de San Roque, que en esta época “acude el turismo a Sotogrande, a las urbanizaciones y apartamentos de playa”, el único problema es el poco “control del orden público y máxime ahora con las restricciones del COVID 19”. Remarca también que el resto de servicios al ciudadano se prestan desde las oficinas municipales de estas barriadas y “en lugar de refor-

Llega la hora de mirar con Lupa las consecuencias de la gestión del COVID-19, sus irregularidades y contradicciones.

Durante la gestión de la crisis sanitaria provocada por la pandemia originada por el COVID-19, que ha desencadenado una nueva crisis económica, el Gobierno de España acordó una serie de medidas encaminadas a paliar los efectos de la crisis en empresas, autónomos, trabajadores, etc. No obstante, finalizado el Estado de Alarma, desde el punto de vista profesional y una vez transcurrido un tiempo que hemos considerado prudencial, toca analizar y mirar con lupa las consecuencias que la gestión del COVID-19 ha provocado con sus irregularidades y contradicciones. A modo de resumen podemos establecer los siguientes ámbitos en los que las hemos detectado incidencias: • Materia laboral: a los autónomos acogidos a la prestación por cese de actividad (CATA), la Administración les siguió cobrando la cuota de autónomo, a pesar del reconocimiento a percibir la prestación. Se les indicó que se les devolvería la cuota y siguen, algunos de ellos, esperando dicha devolución, que no llega, con los perjuicios que ello les ha causado. En otros casos, la devolución ha llegado tarde y sin la liquidación de los intereses por la demora en el pago. • Materia fiscal: la Administración Tributaria con plazos suspendidos por el Estado de Alarma, ha tenido en algunos casos por impagadas las deudas aplazadas y fraccionadas, pasando directamente a dictar providencias de apremio para ejecutar embargos, tal y como si fuese el propio administrado, el que hubiese incumplido su obligación. Lo cierto es que la Administración Pública, siempre ha carecido de medios suficientes, circunstancia que se ha visto agravada con la irrupción de la crisis; la Administración no ha contado con medios suficientes para adaptar sus sistemas informáticos a estos tiempos. No es de recibo, que si la Administración en cumplimiento de normativa estatal, suspende el pago de tributos fraccionados y aplazados, no refleje dicha circunstancia en sus sistemas informáticos, provocando que sean los propios ordenadores los que al “detectar la falta de pago de las obligaciones tributarias aplazadas y/o fraccionadas” inicien de oficio las actuaciones necesarias tendentes a ejecutar bienes del obligado tributario, cuando

éste no ha tenido opción: los plazos han estado suspendidos y no ha sido su voluntad no cumplir con sus obligaciones tributarias; encontrándonos ahora con procedimientos de apremio en reclamación de deudas con el incremento de los intereses y recargos que la Administración entienden se han devengado. Por otra parte, existen otras situaciones que si bien, no han tenido su origen en la crisis del COVID-19, merecen especial mención y atención: En el ámbito hipotecario, recientemente el Tribunal de Justicia Europea en Sentencia de 16/07/2020 ha confirmado la doctrina jurisprudencial sentada por el Tribunal Supremo a partir de las Sentencias del Pleno de 23/01/2019. Así, se reconoce que en caso de hipoteca, los gastos notariales generados por el otorgamiento de la escritura, corresponden por mitad al prestamista y al prestatario, los gastos de inscripción registral corresponden al banco y el Impuesto de Actos Jurídicos Documentados corresponde abonarlos al prestatario. En el ámbito laboral, el Tribunal Supremo ha avalado la tarifa plana a los autónomos societarios. Este problema, en su día afectó a un importante número de trabajadores autónomos que no pudieron acceder a la denominada “tarifa plana”, ya que la Tesorería General de la Seguridad Social solo permitía aplicarse las bonificaciones a aquellos nuevos autónomos que lo eran en calidad de personas físicas, es decir, excluía de las bonificaciones a aquellos autónomos que lo eran por ser socios de sociedades de capital con control efectivo sobre las mismas. Entrevista a Cristina Fernández – Sotojardín

“Hemos realizado casi 500 proyectos en Sotogrande” • El Periódico de Sotogrande se sienta con la arquitecta paisajista de una de las empresas de referencia del sector en Sotogrande y toda la Costa del Sol. • Sotojardín suma más de un centenar de proyectos en la urbanización y alrededores en sus más de 30 años de experiencia y profesionalidad.

Muy buenas, encantado y un placer tenerte en las páginas de nuestro periódico. Sotojardín es una de las empresas de referencia en el sector paisajístico con más de 30 años de experiencia en la zona. ¿Cómo fueron los comienzos? ¿Cómo ha evolucionado la empresa y el sector en las últimas décadas? En sus inicios la empresa comenzó con 7 trabajadores, los cuales se encargaban de ejecutar los jardines y llevar los mantenimientos. Poco a poco la demanda fue aumentando, y por tanto la plantilla fue aumentada, ya que era necesario para satisfacer las necesidades de los clientes y ofrecer un servicio óptimo. Del mismo modo, se fue aumentado la maquinaria se fueron comprado camiones, maquinas pequeñas y grandes, entre otro, ya que esto es lo que nos permite realizar todas nuestras ideas. A día de hoy, la plantilla de trabajadores se a incrementado a 70 empleados de diversos ámbitos (jardineros, albañiles, electricistas, fontaneros, encofradores, herreros, especialistas en poda), teniendo cada uno de ellos una función en la construcción de los jardines, ya que estos pueden contar con diversos elementos. Además, debido a la demanda con la que contábamos en Gibraltar decidimos abrir allí una empresa Sotogardens Limited, la cual cuenta con 12 trabajadores que se encargan del mantenimiento de diversas

zonas, así como de la ejecución de los proyectos. El paisajismo es la arquitectura de la naturaleza. ¿Cómo se disfruta de esta profesión a diario? ¿Cada proyecto es un reto diferente? Tal y como yo lo veo el director de un proyecto de diseño de espacios exteriores debe ser un paisajista, ya que entiende de diseño, construcción, espacies vegetales, geología, hidrología, botánica, estudio del medio y técnicas de jardinería para su posterior conservación. Desde mi punto de vista, el paisajismo se puede disfrutar de muchas maneras. Por un lado, mediante la recreación de proyectos de zonas verdes, aunque he de señalar que siempre me han llamado más la atención los proyectos de pequeña-mediana escalas sobre todos los jardines unifamiliares en los que se tiene un mayor acercamiento con el cliente. Y sí, cada proyecto es un reto diferente, ya que cada cliente tiene unas ideas y pensamientos de como quiere su futuro jardín. Es fundamental que ellos compartan sus ideas, para poder adaptar el espacio a sus necesidades. ¿Hay tendencias y modas en la selección de especies a la hora de adecuar un espacio exterior o interior, naturalmente hablando? Para mi no existe una planta que pueda

estar de moda o no, cada planta es única y cuenta con unas necesidades especiales, en cuanto a iluminación, clima, riego, etc. Es cierto, que cada planta tiene una estructura y una masa foliar diferente. Por tanto, estas podrán aportar diferentes sensaciones por su forma y su follaje. Por poner un ejemplo, en exterior hay plantas que se utilizan en grupos para crear masas y plantas que se utilizan de forma individual y puntual debido a que su forma es más arquitectónica y puede crear un punto focal. Del mismo modo, en el interior se puede poner una especie u otra dependiendo de lo que queramos conseguir. Existen plantas que aportan verticalidad (por su tallo erectos) y otras que aportan textura y movimiento (por su masa foliar). La gran diferencia entre un espacio de interior y exterior es que en el primero, normalmente, esta en un sitio cubierto donde la luz solar no incide directamente y hay una temperatura moderada (deben desarrollarse entre 15-20ºC). Por el contrario, las plantas de exterior, entre las cuales se pueden encontrar de sol, sombra o semisombra, se encuentran más adaptadas a las condiciones del medio en el que deben desarrollarse siempre que sea el medio adecuado y necesitan un mayor mantenimiento. Sotojardín es mucho más que paisajismo, ofrece una solución multi-servicio al cliente. Háblenos de sus otras disciplinas profesionales a nivel de conservación, mantenimiento, etc. Además, de la realización de proyectos y ejecución de los mismo, contamos con la conservación y el manteni-

miento de los espacios ajardinados. Estas labores son realizadas por un equipo de jardineros, los cuales formamos mediante curso de formación para que realicen las labores necesarias de mantenimiento de forma correcta. Por otro lado, se lleva a cabo la conservación y gestión de espacios naturales protegidos. Esto contempla todas las actividades de vigilancia, mantenimiento, conservación, investigación dirección y gestión de equipamientos de uso público que se desarrollan en los propios espacios naturales protegidos. Además, y aunque con menos que ver con el paisajismo, nuestra empresa también se encarga de la realización de obras menores, tanto en exterior, como en interior de las viviendas. Son unos auténticos expertos en Sotogrande, ¿cuántos proyectos han podido ya ejecutar en la zona? Desde que la empresa abrió sus puertas se han podido ejecutar alrededor

480 villas en la urbanización de Sotogrande y alrededores. ¿Recuerda alguno de manera especial? Ya sea por su dimensión, lo exclusivo o complejo en su ejecución. Al fin y al cabo, todos los proyectos de paisajismo que hemos realizado son especiales, o al menos para mí. Son como una obra de arte, todos son diferentes, ya que hay que analizar y captar las necesidades de cada cliente, pero al final todos tienen su magia. También se pueden crear lugares mágicos en espacios reducidos, como una terraza o un pequeño patio. Basta con poner amor y delicadeza ¿Qué otros proyectos tienen en marcha en estos momentos? Actualmente, estamos realizado doce proyectos en villas privadas en la Urb. de Sotogrande y Gibraltar, de los cuales ocho de ellos se encuentran en fase de ejecución y cuatro en fase de planificación y diseño.

Lunas. Aunque al final del tercer chucker los dos conjuntos estaban igualados en el marcador, el conjunto rojo salió enchufado en el cuarto tiempo y tomó una ventaja de varios goles al final. Aunque Dos

Lunas lo intentó hasta el final, el resultado final fue de 11-12 para La Lunita. El vencedor del torneo fue capaz de reponerse a las dos derrotas que sufrió en los dos primeros encuentros y encadenó tres victorias consecutivas para hacerse con el trofeo. En el torneo participaron dos equipos que sumaron hasta 18 goles de hándicap. Los jugadores que participaron en los partidos fueron: Luis Domecq (3), Kevin Korst (1), Pascual Sainz de Vicuña (6), Martín Iturraspe (6), Santiago Gómez Romero (4), Tomás Rueda (4), Juan Zubiaurre (5) e Ignacio Pieres (3).

Dos Lunas tiende la mano para colaborar con el 50º TIV Álvaro Sainz de Vicuña, durante su discurso de agradecimiento al término de la competición, dedicó unas palabras a tender la mano de Dos Lunas Dressage & Polo para colaborar en la elaboración del Torneo Internacional de Santa María Polo Club, que cumplirá sus bodas de oro el próximo verano. El propietario detalló en su discurso la necesidad de trabajar en conjunto [todos los clubes de la zona], para conseguir una edición a la altura de lo que merece una efeméride tan importante. El estadounidense John Catlin (+2) se hizo con su primera victoria en el circuito a costa de Martin Kaymer, ganador de dos majors y una de las estrellas presentes al torneo, a quien batió por un golpe en el histórico y emblemático trazado. El campo enclavado en Sotogrande volvió a ofrecer belleza y severidad en la jornada final y, por cuarta vez en veinticinco torneos del European Tour celebrados en Valderrama, el ganador terminó por encima del par. Aun así, nada que objetar al triunfo de John Catlin, sino todo lo contrario. “Todavía no lo he asimilado y me he tirado toda la última vuelta nerviosísimo. Es un campo de golf muy difícil, los greens son firmes y rápidos, y el viento no ha amainado con respecto a los días previos”, recapitulaba Catlin, que ya contaba en su palmarés con tres victorias en el Asian Tour. “Lo más complicado aquí es coger calles. El viento está cruzado en la mayoría, así que si pegas la bola con el efecto incorrecto acabarás en el rough, y los greens cada vez están más firmes. Coger calles es imprescindible y seguramente la diferencia la haya marcado la que alcancé en el hoyo 18”, recordaba Catlin, que tampoco escatimó elogios hacia Valderrama.

Golf y solidaridad se abrazan en el Andalucía Masters 2020 • Por cada eagle y birdie que se consigue durante el torneo en el emblemático hoyo 17 del Real Club Valderrama, el European Tour dona 1500 € y 500 €, respectivamente. La suma total alcanza los 100.000 euros

La iniciativa ‘Golf for Good’ toma lugar durante esta edición del Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters. Un proyecto que nació con tres objetivos en mente: respaldar las comunidades por las que

pasa el European Tour, recompensar a los verdaderos héroes en este periodo de incertidumbre generado por la covid-19, y promover los muchos beneficios que ofrece el golf.

En esta ocasión, se ha escogido un espectacular escenario para dar forma a la iniciativa. Por cada eagle y birdie que se consigan esta semana en el hoyo 17, el European Tour donará 1500 € y 500 € respectivamente, dinero que se distribuirá entre cuatro ONG locales. Después de recaudar 89.000 € con los eagles y birdies anotados en el 17, el European Tour, Estrella Damm, la Junta de Andalucía y el Real Club Valderrama redondearon el donativo para que alcanzara los 100.000 €. Las cuatro entidades que se beneficiarán de esta iniciativa son las siguientes: - FEGADI (Federación Gaditana de Personas con Discapacidad Física).

Fundada en 1986, esta ONG financia a 36 entidades distintas cuyo foco estratégico es mejorar la calidad de vida, la participación y la consecución de logros por parte de sus asociados, con la salud, la cultura, la juventud, los deportes y la educación como claves fundamentales. - Academia Andaluza de Gastronomía y Turismo. El objetivo de esta ONG es promocionar Andalucía y su cultura, gastronomía y productos a través de distintos actos y actividades. - Fundación Aljaraque. Esta ONG se dedica a promover y desarrollar programas de formación y capacitación de personas vulnerables o en situación de exclusión social con el fin de ofrecerles salidas profesionales en los sectores

de la hostelería, ayuda a mayores y cuidado de niños, entre otros. - Por Una Sonrisa. Por medio de distintas iniciativas lúdicas, esta ONG quiere llevar ilusión, felicidad y esperanza a niños y adolescentes afectados por el cáncer en los hospitales de la zona. Además, el European Tour colabora con Callaway y con jugadores de la zona en cada torneo del circuito para ofrecer una importante donación de material. En el caso del Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters, Álvaro Quirós donará bolas de prácticas Callaway de la gira ibérica del circuito al Club de Golf La Cañada, uno de los viveros andaluces de este deporte y cuna golfística del profesional guadiareño.

Sainte Mesme wins Gold Cup at Santa María Polo Club • The French team Sainte Mesme was crowned winner of the most important trophy of the 49th edition of the Mansion International Polo Tournament.

The French team Sainte Mesme was crowned winner of the Playtech Gold Cup, after winning 11-10 against the Pakistani side BN Polo Team in the grand final of the 49th MANSION International PoloTournament, held at Santa María Polo Club in San Roque. This trophy is the most important of this sporting event, one of the four most important in the polo universe. In total, there were more than 30 days of intense competition with 10 top level teams, who once again made Sotogrande the focus of world sport, and it once again brought together players from the United States, Argentina, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Sweden, Ireland and Pakistan. The match was befitting of the big finals, with full excitement up until the last minute. Both teams gave everything to take the

long-desired title. Sainte Mesme, which played with its patron Birger Strom, along with Robert Strom, Clemente Zavaleta and Salvador Jauretche, was ahead on the scoreboard during the entire game, but in the sixth chukker or period of play that a polo match in this category is divided into, BN Polo Team -the team formed by Babar Nassem, Segundo F. Sotogrande acoge la Copa Petiseros de Polo 2020 • Las canchas de Puente de Hierro de Santa María Polo Club acogen la sexta edición de este ya tradicional campeonato, entre los auxiliares de los principales equipos participantes en el Torneo Internacional de Polo. Manuel Gil Los petiseros, reyes de la cancha por un día. Las canchas de Puente de Hierro de Santa María Polo Club acogieron la que es la sexta edición de la Copa Petiseros Sotogrande, en su versión de 2020. Hasta seis equipos formados por los petiseros de los principales equipos del Torneo Internacional de Polo, con el patrocinio de empresas locales, pugnaron por convertirse los campeones de esta temporada. Una jornada de polo muy divertida y especial, con los petiseros como principales protagonistas. Y es que muchos de ellos, tras años de especialización y de vivir a sólo unos centímetros los mayores eventos de polo a nivel mundial, son unos auténticos especialistas. Más de un jugador desde la gradas, muchos de ellos estaban animando y acompañando con papeles invertidos por un día; se sorprendían al ver auténticos golpes de primer nivel y goles de bella factura, a la altura de algunos de

los jugadores más competitivos del panorama internacional. No es ningún secreto que más de un combinado de petiseros, con su pasión por este deporte, sería capaz de poner en un aprieto a cualquier reconocido equipo. Una magnífica jornada de convi-

vencia que acabó, como mandan los cánones del polo, con asado argentino y buen ambiente junto a los palenques de Puente de Hierro. Polo en Sotogrande, hasta el último día del mes de agosto, pese a este atípico y complejo verano de 2020.

A magnificent day of socialising that ended, as the polo canons dictate, with an Argentine barbecue and a good atmosphere next to the arenas of Puente de Hierro. Paraíso de la vela

Sotogrande brilla durante el Provincial de Vela Optimist José Manuel Cuéllar Avilés, en Sub-13, y Roberto Aguilar Medina, en Sub-16, se proclamaron campeones de la competición en un espléndido fin de semana. Gil / Redacción El Real Club Marítimo de Sotogrande, en colaboración con el puerto deportivo, acogieron a nada menos que casi 70 barcos, con total garantías de seguridad y prevención, para la disputa del Campeonato Provincial de Vela Optimist. Esta es la primera vez que se organiza una regata de esta clase y de estas dimensiones en Sotogrande siendo el balance muy positivo lo cual hace prever que en el futuro más regatas de este tipo podrán venir a lo largo del año, fomentado el mundo de la vela y dando una nota de color y luz en el

horizonte de Sotogrande. José Manuel Cuéllar Avilés, en Sub-13, y Roberto Aguilar Medina, en Sub-16, se proclamaron campeones de la competición en un espléndido fin de semana. El recorrido consistió en varios rumbos, puertas y boyas era superado por los navegantes con destreza y competitividad. Una exitosa cita que hace presagiar será la primera de muchas de este estilo en la emblemática escuela de vela. Recordar que La Escuela de Vela Real Club Marítimo de Sotogrande fue fundada en el año 1989 en So-

togrande, en las cercanías del Estrecho y del Estuario del Río Guadiaro, y homologada por la Federación Andaluza de Vela con la categoría “Dos Rosas de los Vientos”. Miles de alumnos han aprendido a navegar a vela durante estos años sin ningún accidente que lamentar. La Escuela de Vela Real Club Marítimo de Sotogrande da clases de

vela en Optimist para niños, y para mayores y adultos clases de catamarán. Una vez realizado el curso, los alumnos pueden alquilar las

embarcaciones para su perfeccionamiento. Para los que no se atreven con la vela, se alquilan piraguas.

Sotogrande shines during Optimist Provincial Sailing Championship • José Manuel Cuéllar Avilés, in Under-13´s and Roberto Aguilar Medina, in Under-16´s, were crowned champions of the competition on a splendid weekend. The Royal Maritime Club of Sotogrande, in collaboration with the marina, welcomed no fewer than 70 boats, with full safety and prevention guarantees, for the celebration of the Optimist Provincial Sailing Championship. This is the first time that a regatta in this class and of this size has been organised in Sotogrande, and the assessment was very positive, which suggests that in the future more regattas of this kind could come throughout the year, encouraging the world of sailing and adding a touch of colour and light to the Sotogrande horizon. José Manuel Cuéllar Avilés, in Under-13´s and Roberto Aguilar Medina, in Under-16´s, were crowned champions of the competition on a splendid weekend. The course consisted of several directions, gates and buoys and the sailors overcame it with skill and competitiveness. A successful event which suggests that it will be the first of many of this style at the emblematic sailing school. It is worth remembering that the Royal Maritime Club of Sotogrande Sailing School was

founded in 1989 in Sotogrande, in the area around the Strait and the Estuary of the Guadiaro River, and approved by the Andalusian Sailing Federation with the “Two Compass Roses” category. Thousands of pupils have learned to sail over these years without any accidents to regret.

The Royal Maritime Club of Sotogrande Sailing School offers Optimist sailing classes, and catamaran classes for older people and adults. Once they have undertaken the course, pupils can rent vessels to improve. For those who don´t dare to sale, canoes are rented.
