¿Pero que ocurre cuando el deporte rey es un destino al completo? Sotogrande lo es y puede presumir de ello. Tal o cual deporte, siempre desde un sentido profesional y con objetivos comerciales desde entidades privadas ligadas al sector lujo, el deporte más que el rey, es un moto económico para un destino de las características de Sotogrande. It quite often occurs to us, no matter where we are, to describe something as being the ‘king of sports’. It could be after a football match, deemed more or less important depending on the government, the town hall or the organiser of that day. It is indisputable that motorbikes are as much part of the essence of Jerez as horses are; football as much for Cádiz as for Seville and that tennis holds a very special place in the heart of Marbella as basketball does in Malaga with the inexhaustible Unicaja. That is how it is. But what happens when the king of sports is an entire destination? Because that is the case in Sotogrande, and it is something to boast about. Whichever sport it refers to, always in a professional sense and with commercial objectives from private companies in the luxury sector, it is more than the king, it is an economic motor for a destination with the characteristics of Sotogrande. All the sports complement each other, they do not step on each other’s toes and they help to shape this image of a location which is complete, with a 360º offer which few other places in the world can equal. Golf has its most privileged location in continental Europe in Sotogrande. Afortunadamente, por las lluvias previas al inicio del verano, no hemos tenido que sufrir [aún] el bloqueo de la desembocadura del río Guadiaro pero no por una labor preventiva de la que tanto hemos hablado. Lo mismo ocurre con las denuncias y los robos que se han dado esta temporada en ciertos puntos del puerto deportivo de Sotogrande, son cuestiones que tampoco se pueden tapar. Así como alguna que otra descontrolada fiesta (por fortuna, este verano ha sido especialmente moderado en ese sentido). Zonas abandonas de mantenimiento y cuidado, así como el problema de aparcamiento que parece nunca tener suficiente bolsa de estacionamientos para acabar con él en Torreguadiaro; son pequeñas motas en el cristal que aunque no enturbian la imagen global, sí molestar y no deberían pasar inadvertidas. Por lo demás, disfruten de lo que queda del verano que aún es más de lo que parece. Os recuerdo que podéis contarme cualquier tema de interés, bien de forma directa o a través de @JLGarciaSG.

There are things which, no matter how much we try to conceal them or put them behind glass, no matter how much we look around at other things instead, they will still be there and it means that the rest does not seem quite as splendid as it should. We have enjoyed and are still enjoying an amazing few weeks in the urbanisation and the whole Sotogrande resort. It has been a hectic and exciting time with a social calendar which is busier than ever and, if I dare say so, occupancy levels higher than I and many others can recall before. You only have to look at the restaurants, the bar terraces, the hotels, the beaches or how it is an almost impossible feat to find a table without a Allreservation.this,and some great events as well. Just a few days ago we experienced first-hand the Aramco Team Series being played at La Reserva Club in Sotogrande, probably one of the most important women’s sporting events in the world. With the Korda sisters in the limelight, the eyes of half the world were on the tournament which took place in the heart of Sotogrande. And, in addition, we have the superlative effort made by everyone at Ayala Polo every afternoon to bring us just over a month of the best polo in the world. Read our interview with polo star Sapo Caset, a player with Marqués de Riscal, who has no hesitation in saying that “the best polo in the world is found in Sotogrande, that is indisputable”. No further questions, your honour. Added to all this are the summer golf tournaments, the music festival, the sailing and the many options for fine dining, leisure and entertainment. What more could you want? Well yes, we do want more because Sotogrande deserves it and can have it. We don’t want a single speck on the glass. Fortunately, thanks to the rain before the summer, we have not (yet) had to suffer the mouth of the Guadiaro river getting blocked up, but not due to any preventive work which we have talked so much about before. The same goes for the crimes and thefts that have taken place this season in certain parts of Sotogrande marina, these are other issues that cannot be covered up. Just like the occasional uncontrolled parties, (although luckily this summer has been remarkably moderate in that Neglectedrespect).areas which are not maintained and looked after, and the parking problem because it seems there are never enough parking spaces in Torreguadiaro; these are small specks on the glass which, although they do not spoil the overall image, are an annoyance and should not be ignored. Apart from that, though, enjoy what remains of the summer, because it still has quite a way to go I want to remind you that you can inform me of any matter of interest, either directly or through @JLGarciaSG.

Hay cosas que por mucho que intentemos disimular o dejar tras el cristal, podemos llegar a mirar al resto del entorno pero seguirán estando ahí no dejarán que se muestre con todo el esplendor que merece. Disfrutamos (hemos y estamos), unas semanas impresionantes en la urbanización y en todo el resort de Sotogrande. Unos días llenos de muchísimo ajetreo y expectación con una agenda social más cargada que nunca y si me apuran, con un volumen de ocupación de los más altos que yo y muchos recuerdan. Sólo tienen que echar un vistazo para ver cómo están los restaurantes, las terrazas, los hoteles, las playas o cómo se hace casi una gymkhana imposible encontrar una mesa sin reserva previa. Todo eso, bien maridado con grandes citas. Hace sólo unos días vivimos en primera persona la celebración en La Reserva Club de Sotogrande del Aramco Team Series, probablemente uno de los eventos más importantes del mundo en el deporte femenino. Con el protagonismo de las Hermanas Korda y con los ojos de medio mundo puestos en el torneo que se disputó en el corazón de Sotogrande. Todo ello se suma al esfuerzo superlativo que toda la gente de Ayala Polo pone cada tarde para brindarnos algo más de un mes del mejor polo del mundo. Lean nuestra entrevista con la estrella del polo ‘Sapo Caset’, jugador de Marqués de Riscal, que no duda en sostener que durante el mes de agosto “el mejor polo del mundo se encuentra en Sotogrande, eso no tiene discusión”; sostiene el reconocido jugador. No hay más preguntas, señoría. A todo ello le sumamos los torneos de golf veraniegos, el festival de música, la vela y muchas más opciones de alta gastronomía, ocio y entretenimiento. ¿Qué más quieren? Pues sí, queremos más porque Sotogrande lo merece y puede darlo, no queremos ni una sola mota en el cristal.

Tendencia alcista para el sector del ladrillo. El piso tipo de alqui ler en Andalucía registró en ju lio de 2022 respecto a julio de 2021, un crecimiento del 6,52%, la quinta mayor subida del país. Andalucía fue la oc tava autonomía con la mensua lidad más cara para los inquili nos, por detrás de Madrid, entre otras. Por su parte, el piso tipo de alquiler en España tuvo en julio de 2022 un precio me dio de una subida mensual del 0,20%. En la comparativa inte ranual, subió un 5,89%. Jaén fue la séptima capital española más barata Respecto a las provincias an daluzas, Málaga (2,78%) arrojó el repunte mensual más impor tante del país. Por su parte, Huelva (-3,35%) ocupó el pri mer lugar en la lista de descen sos nacionales. De un año a otro, Huelva (22,35%) registró la mayor subida de España, y Jaén (-6,64%) fue la que más cayó de la región. Con 4,45 eu ros por metro cuadrado en julio de 2022, Córdoba fue la undé cima provincia más asequible de España. Por su parte, Má laga fue la séptima más cara a nivel nacional. En cuanto a las capitales anda luzas, Cádiz (2,23%) fue la no vena capital española que más creció frente a junio. Huelva (-2,69%) arrojó la cuarta caída más intensa de España. Inte ranualmente, todas las capita les andaluzas se encarecieron. Cádiz (15,11%) fue la tercera capital que más se incrementó del país. En el apartado de ren tas medias, Jaén fue la sép tima más asequible para los inquilinos a nivel nacional. En el otro extremo, Cádiz marcó la séptima renta media mensual más alta de todo el país.

The property sector is showing a marked upward trend. Rental prices inAndalucía were 6.52% higher in July 2022 than they were in July 2021, and this was the fifth highest increase in the country. Andalucía was the eighth most expensive region in terms of monthly rent paid by tenants, after Madrid, among others. Meanwhile rent for apart ments in Spain as a whole had risen by an average of 0.20% per month by July 2022. Year-on-year, there was an increase of 5.89%.

Six months of war in Ukraine

Carlos Rodríguez Braun Economista y columnista de opinión. El 24 de febrero de 2022 Rusia in vadió Ucrania. El balance de estos seis meses arroja costes, benefi cios y cinismo. Los abultados costes son evidentes en términos de muertos, y de millo nes de refugiados que han abando nado el país, y otros millones de personas desplazadas en su inte rior. En ese sentido es la mayor cri sis que se ha producido en Europa desde 1945. La perspectiva tam bién es negativa en el sentido de que la guerra no ha sido rápida como pensaban muchos, incluido Putin, y su final no parece claro a corto plazo. El aumento de la ten sión en el mundo y el posible resta blecimiento de la política de blo ques añaden costes y riegos para la paz en el mundo. Es una nueva prueba de que el mejor amigo del hombre no es el perro sino el chivo expiatorio.

On one hand, western politicians have sou ght to simplify the question of blame and responsibility. Putin is without a doubt to blame, for the invasion of Ukraine and, before that, annexing Crimea. But respon sibility also lies with NATO, as per sonalities ranging from Kissinger to Pope Francis have pointed out. It is not evident that the expansion of NATO after the fall of the Berlin Wall has been nothing but positive; it may also have provoked the tyrant in the Kremlin. And let us not forget, on the other hand, the cynicism of so many lea ders who have blamed the war for all our economic woes, as if their policies prior to Putin’s action in Ukraine had no negative aspects. It is further proof that man’s best friend is not a dog, but rather a sca pegoat.

Seis meses de guerra en Ucrania

Agentes de la Guardia civil de la Comandancia de Algeciras en colaboración con guardias civiles del Servicio Marítimo de la Comandancia de Málaga, llevaron a cabo una operación en la que se han recuperado tres embarcaciones sustraídas.

DEMEDICINAESTÉTICACALIDAD

Los hechos tuvieron lugar el pasado día 10 de agosto cuando agentes de la Guardia Civil del Puesto de Guadiaro, tuvieron conocimiento de que se había producido la sustracción de tres embarcaciones recreativas en el puerto deportivo de Sotogrande.

Como resultado del dispositivo, una de las embarcaciones navegando por la costa de Málaga, tras una persecución por el litoral malagueño llevada a cabo por parte de agentes del Servicio Marítimo de Málaga, la embarcación fue recuperada en la costa, donde quedó varada tras darse a la fuga sus tripulantes. Las otras dos embarcaciones sustraídas también fueron localizadas, una en la dársena del Saladillo en Algeciras y la segunda en el Río Palmones. Las tres embarcaciones recuperadas ya han sido devueltas a sus legítimos propietarios. La investigación continúa abierta al objeto de poder identificar y detener a los autores de los robos.

Guardia Civil officers from the Algeciras command, in collaboration with colleagues in the Guardia Civil’s Maritime Service in Málaga, have carried out an operation in which three stolen boats were recovered.

All three boats have now been returned to their legitimate owners, but the investigation is continuing, to identify and arrest those responsible for the robberies.

The events took place on 10 August when officers from the Guardia Civil post in Guadiaro learned that three boats had been stolen from Sotogrande Port. An investigation was then put into effect to locate the stolen craft, in which land and maritime patrols from theAlgeciras command par ticipated, together with others from Málaga’s Guardia Civil Maritime Service. As a result of this investigation, one of the boats was seen sailing off the Málaga coast, and after a pursuit by officers from the Málaga Maritime Command it was recovered from a beach where the occupants had left it when they ran away. The other two missing boats were also located, one at the Saladillo dock in Algeciras and the other on the Palmones river.

The gate has been broken for years, with the problem and danger that poses. La puerta del parque canino esta rota desde hace años con el pro blema y peligro que eso supone . La puerta no cierra y como hay una zona de juegos para niños enfrente es alarmante que un dia algún perro se escape y pueda suceder un accidente .

British people come to this park from Gibraltar, where there is nowhere for them to let their dogs off the lead to play, and Russian ladies bring their dogs from Sotogrande and they all say they can’t un derstand the way this park has been abandoned, and dozens of local residents feel the same.Itisa shame, because it is a nice place and it would cost nothing to repair it so we could take good care of our dogs.

Animal abuse In Pueblo Nuevo there is a tyre repair business where some enormous parrots are kept in a narrow cage. Every time I pass by I hear them screeching, surely asking for help to be taken to somewhere better. These animals were born to fly free, not to spend all day being tortured by the noise of the tyres being repai red.Ieven went to the Guardia Civil, to Seprona, because people living near the parrots who were fed up with hearing them yelling had told me the Guardia Civil could help to have them moved to a proper place, but the officer I spoke to told me they had already had several complaints but they couldn’t do anything because the owner of the business has all the papers for the parrots in order.Many of us do not agree with this, because we believe this is a case of animal abuse. La necesidad de más inversión de la Junta en el Valle del Guadiaro ï El alcalde de San Roque solicita al gobierno autonómico que incluya varios proyectos en la zona en su presupuesto de inversiones

El alcalde de San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, remitió un escrito al presidente de la Junta, Juanma Moreno, y a la consejera de Hacienda, Carolina España, en la que pide que la Junta incluya en sus presupuestos para el próximo año varias inversiones en la ciudad.Ruiz Boix señaló que “en estos tiempos en los que se viene ultimando la redacción del proyecto de Presupuestos de la Junta deAndalucía de cara al año 2023, he dirigido un escrito en representación del Ayuntamiento de San Roque, del municipio y de todas sus barriadas, de los 34 mil sanroqueños, para mostrar algunas carencias y deficiencias que tiene nuestro municipio y que son competencia de la Junta de Andalucía”.

“Si no pueden ser las 40 concertadas -pide el alcalde-, al menos 20 que puedan ir destinadas a personas mayores de las localidades de San Enrique, Guadiaro, Torreguadiaro, y Pueblo Nuevo, que fue el reto con el que se construyó ese edificio por parte de la familia TambiénZóbel”.en el Valle del Guadiaro hay problemas en materia de infraestructuras o de fomento.Al área de la Consejería de Obras Públicas “le pedimos la renovación completa del firme de la carretera andaluza CA-2102 que une San Enrique con San Martín del Tesorillo”. Se solicita además que se actúe sobre la carretera CA2103, en el Puente de Hierro, que comunica San Enrique con la barriada de Guadiaro o viceversa. ElAyuntamiento de San Roque está haciendo un puente peatonal, pero el puente de vehículos, el de hierro, está deteriorado y no pueden pasar hoy en día los autoEnbuses.este sentido, el alcalde alerta de que “en un mes comienza de nuevo el curso escolar y eso supone mayores retardos e impedimentos en la comunicación del autobús escolar que lleva a los niños y jóvenes de San Enrique y de Torreguadiaro hacia el IES Sierra Almenara, en Pueblo Nuevo. Esa situación debe corregirse cuanto antes”.

El alcalde indicó que “esperamos que en este 2023 se solvente de una vez por todas la existencia de aulas prefabricadas en el CEIP Gloria Fuertes, en Guadiaro, una de las reclamaciones que hemos hecho en los últimos tres años y que desgraciadamente no ha encontrado respuesta”.

En materia social, “estamos pendientes de que la Fundación La Milagrosa, el centro que acoge a las personas mayores en el Valle del Guadiaro, tenga concierto de plazas con la Junta deAndalucía, que permita que personas vulnerables puedan acceder a algunas de esas plazas dentro de la totalidad de las 40 que tiene la Fundación La Milagrosa”.

The mayor said that “we hope that in 2023 the problem of the prefabricated classrooms at the Gloria Fuertes school in Guadiaro will be sorted out, as this is something we have been calling for during the past three years and unfortunately have received no response”.Withregard to social issues, he said, “we are waiting for La Milagrosa Foundation, the centre that takes in elderly people from the Guadiaro Valley, to come to an agreement with the Junta de Andalucía which will allow vulnerable people to access some of the 40 places at the La Milagrosa Foundation”.“Ifall40places can’t be subsidised,” the mayor said, “at least 20 could be assigned to elderly people from San Enrique, Guadiaro, Torreguadiaro and Pueblo Nuevo, which was the purpose for which this building was constructed by the Zóbel family”. There are also problems regarding infrastructure and development in the Guadiaro Valley. The council is asking the Junta’s Ministry of Public Works “to completely renew the surface of the CA-2102 road between San Enrique and San Martín del Tesorillo”. San Roque council is building a pedestrian bridge, but the iron bridge for vehicles has deteriorated to such an extent that buses can no longer use it. With regard to this, the mayor pointed out that “the new school year begins next month and this will mean longer delays and difficulties for the school bus which takes children from San Enrique and Torreguadiaro to the Sierra Almenara school in Pueblo Nuevo. This situation needs to be resolved as soon as possible”.

The grand final of the Terralpa High Handicap Silver Cup was played between the Dubai and Dos Lunas/La Hacienda teams amid a great atmosphere in the stands. The match kept everyone in suspense until the very end of the sixth chukker, when Camilo Castagnola, the best player in the match, sco red the winning goal very close to the goalposts, and de lighted his team by giving them a final result of 11 to 10. So, on their return to Soto grande, the Dubai team be came the champions at the second stage of the 51st Soto grande International Polo Tournament. El partido mantuvo a todos en vilo hasta el mismísimo final del sexto chukker, cuando Camilo Cas tagnola, el mejor jugador de la definición, marcó el tanto de la victoria justo en el arco en el cual estaban instalados los palenques, para festejar junto a su gente y sentenciar el partido, cuyo resultado final fue de 11 a 10. De esta forma, y en su re greso a Sotogrande, Dubai se consagró campeón en la se gunda parada del 51° Torneo Internacional de Polo de So togrande. La 51 edición del Torneo Internacional de Polo de Sotogrande, organizada por Ayala Polo Club, vive su momento culminante con la Copa de Oro Globant, competición valedera para el World Polo Tour, que ya está en marcha. Las canchas de Ayala tanto en su sede de San Enrique como en Los Pinos, epicentro del verano en Sotogrande, están convirtiéndose en el lugar de encuentro de miles de personas. La organización confirmó un incremento en la asistencia superior al 20%. La final de la copa de Plata, con triunfo de Dubai, tras un durísimo partido que le enfrentó a Dos Lunas La Hacienda, reunió a cerca de 5.000 personas que abarrotaron las instalaciones de Los LoPinos.que se ha vivido durante toda la Copa de Plata Terralpa y especialmente en la final, confirman que la apuesta de Ayala está contando con el respaldo de los residentes en Sotogrande, los turistas y los campogibraltareños. “It would be fantastic to repeat last year’s victory and win the Gold Cup again”

Encantado de saludarte y te nerte de nuevo en nuestras páginas. No pudo ser en la Copa de Plata pero volvéis a la final de la Copa de Oro, ¿qué valoración haces? Así es. Contento por una nueva final, el año pasado tu vimoslasuertedeganaryeste año teníamos que venir a de fender el título. Una temporada muy competitiva y dura pero llegamos con opciones y esta remos disputando el último en cuentro de la temporada, la fi nal de la Copa de Oro, ése era el gran objetivo, por lo que estamos muy contentos todos en Marqués de Riscal. Las ‘semis’ ante Easy John Smith, igualada y muy reñida hasta al final, ¿cierto? Si, como te dije, son partidos muy duros hasta el final y pe leados. Logramos sacar ven taja, luego se acercaron pero en los chukkers finales pudi mos sacar nuevamente distan cia, jugar un poco con el mar cador a favor y ganar pero nunca puedes relajarte con estos equipos y estos grandes jugadores que están dispu tando la temporada en Soto grande. Ganar la 50 edición de la Copa de Oro fue muy especial el pasado año. ¿Cómo sería levantar la 50+1? Sería fantástico repetir triunfo. Con ése objetivo nos marca mos el inicio de la temporada y ahora mismo es una gran oportunidad que tenemos por delante. Sería muy lindo pero toca pelear también. En la final tendremos un rival muy duro como es Dubai, con un equipo impresionante también. Pero sí, parece que a todo el equipo nos sienta muy bien Soto grande y vamos a pelar todas para subir al podio con la Copa de Oro. Por último, una pregunta más personal ya que eres todo un amigo de la casa. ¿Cómo está siendo este re greso a Sotogrande y volver a disfrutar de la temporada y de la urbanización con la fa milia? Increíble, le quiero dar mi es pecial agradecimiento a al or ganización,atodoelequipode Ayala Polo que es magnífico, también a la gente de Minuto 7. El torneo es fantástico, las canchas son increíbles y está más que demostrado que el mejor polo del mundo durante este mes se juega en Soto grande, eso es indiscutible. Además es todo un lujo poder estar aquí con la familia y dis frutar de un lugar tan especial. Muchas gracias y espero po der repetir esta entrevista tras la final e investido como ganador de la Copa de Oro. Eso espero yo también, es siempre un placer estar con vosotros, el año pasado ya me disteis mucha suerte con la portada de POLO by La Bo cha y espero repetir triunfo y que lo celebremos juntos. It’s great to see you and have you on our pages again. The Silver Cup wasn’t to be, but you’re back in the final of the Gold Cup. What is your reaction to that? That’s right. We’re pleased to be here for another final, last year we were lucky enough to win and this year we had to come to defend the title. It has been a very competitive and hard season but we are in with a chance and we will be playing the last match of the season, the final of the Gold Cup. That was our main ob jective, so we are all very happy at Marqués de Riscal. In the ‘semis’ against Easy John Smith, you were evenly matched and very close right up to the end, isn’t that right? Yes, as I said, these matches are very tough and hard-fou ght right to the end. We ma naged to take advantage, then they came closer but in the final chukkers we were able to put distance between us again, play with the score board a little more in our fa vour and win, but you can never relax with these teams and these great players this season at Sotogrande. It must have been very special to win the 50th edition of the Gold Cup last year What would it be like to win the 50+1?

Finally, a more personal question because we think of you as a friend here. How does it feel to be back in Sotogrande, able to enjoy the season and the urbanisation with your fa mily? It’s incredible. I want to give special thanks to the organi sers, the whole team at Ayala Polo, who are magnificent, and also the people at Minuto 7. The tournament is fantas tic, the fields are incredible and it is more than proven that the best polo in the world is being played in Sotogrande this month, that is indisputa ble. Las instalaciones de Puente de Hierro, de la mano de Iridike Polo, acogieron la Copa Memorial de Polo Joaquín Garrigues, una cita muy esperada y celebrada este veranos por los amantes y apasionados de este deporte en la urbanización. Una cita muy emotiva que contó con dos competiciones paralelas (a 0 y 4 goles de HCP). The winner in the Cruise class was ‘Aquilón’, from Ignacio Benthem of the Real Club Mediterráneo de Málaga (RCM), and in Monotypes it was the Tom-28 ‘Cigna’, with Jaime Brujo from the Real Club Marítimo in Sotogrande (RCMS).IntheCruise category, ‘Al Tarik IV’ and José Luis Pérez of Club Náutico Saladillo de Algeciras were also outstanding and came second, while Gabrial Medem’s ‘Aviador’ ended third and was the best competitor from the Real Club Marítimo in Sotogrande. In total, 24 yachts took part in the ORC Cruise section, and five in Monotypes.Theregatta is organised by the Real Club Marítimo de Sotogrande (RCMS) and by Puerto Sotogrande (PST), with the collaboration of the Andalusian Sailing Federation, San Roque council, Sotogrande Andalucía, Cervezas Alhambra and Gin Rives. It broke the mould, with the tour’s first visit to one of the most select resorts in the world, and was an absolute success in terms of participation, with the maximum number of players on the course. It was undoubtedly a landmark for this championship and an unforgettable experience for the players. The complex, competitive and highly technical New Course at La Zagaleta put the players to the test with a very entertaining round and a few losses along the way. It was a long-awaited day on the golfing calendar and marked the half-way point in this ninth edition of the Tour. The course is incredible and it was quite an experience to play the 18 holes in this luxury residential complex, among hills and houses of the highest quality.
