ointCare, a modern and innovative hip and knee replacement service for NHS patients, was developed at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and, based on the latest evidence and care from around the world, it is setting new standards for NHS hip and knee replacement surgery in England. At the heart of the JointCare programme is patient education which helps people prepare for their procedure and rehabilitation.
Patients receive incredible care and recover in an environment which encourages you to move and improve. They receive information before and after their procedure so that they are empowered to help themselves. They also take part in group physiotherapy sessions and their family and friends have a role in supporting them during their stay.
Patients work. with physiotherapists just hours after their surgery as the evidence suggests this aids recovery. The service is helping many hip and knee replacement patients to get home just 24 – 48 hours after their operation.
