BEARD GAME Black men with beards are not a new trend, they have been rocking the shaggy face for years. However, more men seem to be participating in the “beard game” as it is becoming more popular to cultivate, prim, and refine these facial manes to personal styles of perfection.
G
rowing facial hair may not be a challenge for these men, but maintaining a full beard while properly preserving healthy skin underneath may render some clueless. Some men make the common mistake of utilizing cranial hair products on facial hair. Hair products that are meant to treat the scalp contain harsh chemicals too potent to apply to facial hair. For proper maintenance one must first understand that facial hair differs from cranial hair; therefore, it must be treated differently. The scalp has
a thicker layer of skin and is made up of about 90 thousand hair follicles which produces more sebum oil. The face contains thinner skin and lesser oils deeming it a more sensitive area. There are a variety of products on the market specifically designed as beard care essential. It is important to find products that work well for your hair and skin needs to keep you winning in your “beard game”.

Trim Your Beard
Condition Your Beard
Before washing your beard use a boar bristle brush to exfoliate the surface. For best results brush slowly against and across the grain, then use a softer bristle to brush in a circular motion to stimulate blood flow to hair follicles for growth promotion.
This step does not have to be done daily. If you are unable to trim your beard yourself, find a local skilled barber that could assist with your trimming and grooming needs.
After washing, condition your beard. This will detangle, soften, and hydrate the hair as well as prevent itching.
