May is the month we celebrate mothers and the May issue Of Essays of Africa is a mixed bag of content that looks at different aspects of motherhood.
We investigate the realities of maternity leave for women in South Africa, look into the painful reality of those who have lost their mothers and get single mothers to open up about some of their experiences. We also look at ways that you can add sparkle into your reality by living creatively. It wouldn’t be Essays Of Africa if we didn’t share the chronicles of dynamic African women making strides in their fields. We spoke to Nothemba Kula, Mmabatho Montsho and Judith Nzimande among others.
Our cover star this month is the highly ambitious and talented DJ Zinhle. She gives us insights into how she runs her business, how motherhood has affected her and how she chooses to live her life deliberately. Hers is an inspiring must-read story.
