It was great to see the Early Birds getting into the spirit, in early May, by celebrating “Cinco de Mayo”. Players dressed in Mexican flag colors and wearing fedoras enjoyed a cerveza or two as well as the golf. Steve Riley was unable to play, but that didn’t stop him from joining in while undergoing treatment in Charleston. Well done Steve - we all continue to pull for you!!

Individual Match Play winners The second Major in the Champions Cup was completed at the end of April. Congratulations to Lanny Bailey who won the Individual Match Play Championship, and to the flight winners –Dave Donnelly, Dave Renbarger, and Jerry Bailey.

Super Men’s Day in May saw a record equaling 44 members turn out for a challenging format of “MoneyBall”. The winners were the team of Lanny Bailey, Todd Bruner, and Wes Warren. This was Lanny’s first Super Men’s Day victory in more than 50 tries!!

The Super Seniors Stroke Play Championship had 9 members sign up, including defending Champion - Art Tonkinson. Results will be published in June.

The Men’s Golf Committee again reviewed successes and improvements from the Individual Match Play Championship. It was noted that most of the matches in the final round were played on the same day, and the Committee agreed that this should be maintained. In summary, the following will be applied to all future Match Play Championships: DAYS OF PLAY - For Rounds 1 & 2, matches must be completed by the end of day on the scheduled dates. For the Final Round (which determines 1st through 4th places), matches must be played only on the designated date for that round, with no exceptions.
