THE MANAGER
GRANT
SCOTT GOOD AFTERNOON AND WELCOME BACK TO AINSLIE PARK. TODAY WE FACE A SECOND EDINBUGRH DERBY OF THE 2019 SEASON AS WE WELCOME HEART OF MIDLOTHIAN IN A REPEAT OF LAST YEAR'S SWPL CUP TIE.
S
unday's fixture with Hearts as well as offering up our second Edinburgh Derby of the season, provides me with a personal quirk against a team that I previously coached alongside Andy Enwood. Many of the players were at the club during my time there so it's interesting to pit your wits against players and coaches that you've previously worked with to add to the excitement THERE of an intriguing cup-tie.
is where we are aiming each week.
It's still early in the season and as has been well documented, our squad has changed around a fair bit. Players promoted from our U23s and new signings are all settling in and doing very well, Leah Eddie and Colette Cavanagh making first competitive starts last week and notably young ARE A Kirsty Morrison stepping COUPLE MORE up to make her competitive As is normal at Hibs, we have debut and handling herself ADDITIONS TO THE the utmost respect for our admirably mean it's exciting SQUAD YET TO opponents and will follow our times for what is now a normal process of preparing very competitive squad at BE ANNOUNCED the team during the week Hibs. There are a couple of BUT THEY MAY and giving the players additions to the squad yet to relevant information on what be announced but they may WELL FEATURE AT to expect from Hearts and well feature at some point SOME POINT COME come Sunday against Hearts will be ready come kick off. but at the time of writing SUNDAY. Looking back to our match places are still up for grabs. last week, I was very impressed with the control of the players We're very proud cup holders and would against a very difficult opponent in Celtic. like to set out defending our trophy be It showed a great reaction from the winning Sunday's match and put on a players to the disappointing result and performance worthy of the occasion. We performance the previous week, where we hope all spectators enjoy the game. collectively thought we had not performed to our best. To play with that amount of composure and phases of great football was everything I could have asked for and setting those types of standards and more

These players will of course their SWPL 2 games this season. be missed however Grant has recruited We are familiar with a few of the Hearts well and has brought in some very players having played with or against talented individuals who I think will fill them a number of times and know those voids and add real value to the what threats they will bring. Today’s squad. game is the start of our journey to try I think the “warm weather and retain the League camp” in Valencia Cup for a 4th successive WE ARE FAMILIAR training definitely helped enhance season so we are by no WITH A FEW OF team cohesion on and off means underestimating the pitch. It was a great the quality of opposition or THE HEARTS experience to get the importance of this game. PLAYERS HAVING full squad spending time Last week we came from allowing new PLAYED WITH OR together, behind to take three points faces to integrate and AGAINST THEM A develop a familiarity of against Celtic which was very much needed after with those who NUMBER OF TIMES playing the previous weeks draw have been with the club for AND KNOW WHAT a few seasons. I hope that against Spartans. I was incredibly proud of how the the season develops we THREATS THEY as team responded to going start to see the benefits of WILL BRING. a goal behind, showing the trip. great determination Enjoy the game. and resilience. Celtic have publicly commented on their commitment to increase their support on and off the pitch so it was a fantastic marker to put down. There has been a lot of transition over the off season in terms of playing personnel. We have lost some players

KEY MOMENT
Cavangh's excellent delivery from a free kick out wide was met by Cornet's flicked header, leaving Celtic keeper Cunningham stranded and Reilly the opportunity to head into an unguarded net to pull Hibs level.
FRESH FACES
Only three players who started the opening home game last season were among the starting eleven today. Jenna Fife, Cailin Michie and Ellis Notley featured in a much changed Hibernian line-up.
WHO SAID WHAT?
“The Celtic goal was just extra motivation for us and it helped us push us on. We played even better when that goal went in as we wanted to prove to ourselves that we could go on and win the game.” JAMIE-LEE NAPIER
PRESS REACTION
“Jamie-Lee Napier and Kirsten Reilly can help fill the void left by Hibs' pre-season exodus, says coach Grant Scott. Both were outstanding as last season's runners-up fought back to beat Celtic 2-1 at Ainslie Park.” ANDREW SOUTHWICK BBC SCOTLAND

HEART OF MIDLOTHIAN
A
cross the city it is a huge time of change for Heart of Midlothian. In December, the club's owner, Ann Budge, announced that the women's team would receive an annual six figure investment, while integrating Hearts women into the academy setup. Adding to that is the arrival of Kevin Murphy from Manchester City. The former Rangers Women manager was overseeing football operations at the Manchester City women's academy but has returned North to join the Jambos. The ambition off the pitch has been matched on it with Andy Enwood strengthening his squad over the winter break. While last season's top scorer

Pamela Liddell has again departed, Caroline Heron has arrived to boost the attack. The ex Hibernian striker brings with her a wealth of experience and more importantly goals. Hearts have opened their SWPL 2 campaign strongly by coming from behind to overcome title rivals Hamilton 2-1 away from home. That was followed up by a 9-0 thumping of a young Hutchison Vale side at their new home of Oriam in front of a strong crowd. This looks set to be a massive season for Heart of Midlothian with the prize of a league title and a place in the SWPL 1 next season a very realistic proposition.
THE OPPOSITION
16 DANNI PAGLIARULO
The veteran has scored twice from the penalty spot this season.
10 ASHLEY CARSE
The striker has netted three times in two games including an incredible long range striker from the edge of the centre circle against Hamilton on the opening day of the season.

CLAIRE DELWORTH
RACHEL WALKINGSHAW
Adventurous young right back who has already scored in 2019.
Midfielder made the move from Spartans during the off-season.
14 ANDY ENWOOD
The Hearts gaffer is very familiar to Grant Scott having worked alongside him previously during Grant's spell with Hearts. Enwood steered Hearts to a credible third placed finish in SWPL 2 last season and after strengthening his squad will be looking to challenge for promotion this year.
CAROLINE HERON
The ex Hibs star has netted twice this year and will look to bring the additional firepower to the Hearts frontline to help the Jambos promotion charge towards SWPL 1.
19 LAUREN EVANS
Gifted attacker joined after a successful spell at Glasgow Girls.
11 JENNIFER SMITH
Scotland U17 midfielder with a wealth of senior starts for Hearts.
LAST MEETING HEART OF MIDLOTHIAN 0 HIBERNIAN 4
The two teams met in the opening round of the SWPL Cup last year at Hearts home ground of Dalkeith Juniors FC. Despite an early effort from Tweedie striking the post it took until the 73rd minute for Shannon McGregor to open the scoring. Tweedie followed up with a volley from the edge of the box before Turner added a third and Kirsty Smith rounded out the scoring with a scorching 25 yard effort to take Hibs into the last eight.
