Located in Shanghai Hongqiao airport economic park, the building stands hale and hearty with structure precision, which implies its identity as precision machining. The site is L-shape. Considering the capacious river landscape on the south, Bosch takes the east-west layout, in order to maximize the view from the three buildings. The deficiency in energy saving caused by this style is compromised by flexible external blinds and photovoltaic power generation plates, which achieves an excellent effect. The main building is No.1 building, which has several waterscapes, especially the ones on the eastern and western sides of the hall and the one indoors. With different features, the three waterscapes stand facing each other with select plants, which form a nice transition space between indoors and outdoors.
On the south part, podiums above the forth floor rise 8 meters from the river, which makes a person feel as if in the air while viewing the river from inside. The building looks neat and orderly, the different heights of aluminum plates, various arrangements of curtain wall and cantilever and indention between floors, ever-changing in strict grid, shortcutting the elements' size to accelerate the construction efficiency and enhancing the particular order and integration in bulk building. Different indoor circulation spaces have different colors, so that thousands of employees can easily distinguish the area they are in. At night, these colors create unique colorful atmosphere for the whole building, as if it is an ivory tower floating on the river, crystal clear.

Place Vendome is situated in the new Osterenk / Watersteeg office and business estate in Zwolle. This high-quality development project is characterized by strips of construction that alternate with the reed lands typical of the area. Green zones and a measured layout of the public space will determine the future ambience. During the design stages, the Architekten Cie. researched various volumes, with the aim of creating a sheltered inner court with pleasant sojourning qualities and natural ambience. Making incisions in the corners ensures that the inner court is visible from the outside, and produces a more spacious perception from the inside. It also offers the opportunity to have two addresses at one location. The construction consists of prefabricated white concrete elements. The expressive storey-high openings characterize the facade. The glass partitioning
facade is detached from the construction. The sunblinds, electrical ducts and data facilities are integrated in the intervening cavity. The stratification of the facade produces different perceptions of the building in the daytime and at night. During the day, the reflection of the glass gives the building a more closed allure and reinforces the horizontal striped pattern of the two glass tints. At night, the illumination emphasizes the free form of the construction. The angled end of the facades form the entrance to the Place Vendome. Guys and stays bearing Virginia creepers give a particular cachet to the entrance and reinforce the green quality of the location. Architecture and nature merge together here. The advanced layout of the greenery was developed in conjunction with the Van Sant en Co landscape architects. Boxwood plants refer to baroque models such as the Place Vendome in Paris. The combination with hydrangeas offers a flowering accent.

The building of the corporate Group Transoceánica, answers in its design to the implementation of a system of energy efficiency oriented to reduce demand, improve the quality of workspaces and adopt a respectful attitude to the environment. In the development of the project, three conditions of the commission itself were faced, first at the request of the client, the building becomes part of a master plan made in Germany by the planning office Krause Bohne Gmbh, which defined the occupation of the site and the use of curved forms, by integrating a future development along with other office buildings. Second, the energetic concept of the building, with emphasis on the climate project and also for the rest of the specialties (Electrics, Lighting, Sanitation and Control System) were developed by the German office Bohne Ingeniure, with which it was made a joint work to define concepts of design that the project had to answer architecturally to achieve the sustainability goals required. Third, the building site, in front of the Lo Castillo Aerodrome, which has an exigent norm

regarding constructability, land occupation and maximum height, forcing the development of an extended project in a terrain of generous proportions. Based on the foregoing, it emerges a three level office building and two underground parking levels, composed of a main body conformed by a great hall of full height delivering to two wings of open plans for offices, plus and independent body in the north part for Auditorium and Casino, which connects through an exterior marquise, integrating it to the building and the site. The shape proposed seeks to optimize the solar orientation, favoring natural light, ensuring views of the exterior from every enclosure and developing a careful treatment of facades to avoid unwanted thermic increases or losses. It was interesting giving answers and guiding a process marked by formal restrictions and the use of new Technologies, with the view and characteristics of architectural elements, strengthening the role of the architect as head of a multidisciplinary process and as main guest in the mission of providing better places to live in.

The idea behind the development is to create a built structure which combines a variety of residential offerings into one neighborhood that facilitates different ways of living. This objective was pursued on both an urban-planning and on an architectural level. For one thing, the estate comprises several widely different urban design typologies: There is the lawn with several point block buildings scattered on it; the residential courtyard building with access balconies, or the street and plaza with a multi-family townhouse. This collage structure makes the estate mediate in the urban fabric between the colony of small-scale single-family houses on the West side and a shopping mall to the East.
Reflections at Keppel Bay
For another thing, the buildings are terraced on the upper storeies, which creates different living and outdoor situations from floor to floor. The range of apartment types thus created spans from the single person rooftop apartment with a large terrace to flexible (blended) family apartments with living rooms from which one or two temporary bedrooms may easily be partitioned off if needed, and to assisted-living homes for children without families.

The color design re-unifies the resultant diversity into one coherent neighborhood and provides it with an urban identity of its own.

Prominently situated at the entrance to Singapore’s historic Keppel Harbor, Reflections at Keppel Bay is a 185806.08-square-meter residential development comprised of 6 high-rise towers and 11 low-rise villa apartment blocks of 6-8 floors each. A series of undulating towers is the focal point of this project. These sleek curving forms of alternating heights create graceful openings and gaps between the structures. The spaces between the buildings allow for views to the horizon beyond. The resulting composition is a creative interplay of changing planes and reflections. IJburg, a new urban expansion consisting of six islands, lies in the east part of Amsterdam. Blok 47 is situated on the east section of the Haveneiland the central island of IJburg - and optimizes all the architectural ingredients to be found in IJburg: the street grid encompasses the block, which is traversed by a canal, and there is a park to the east while the harbour lies to the west.

Along the west side (the harbour) and the east side (the park) the construction is eight-storey high, accommodating offices, commercial space and apartments.

Residential streets lie on the north and south sides of the block, which has four-storey construction and stacked maisonettes here. Another nine houses are situated on the inner courtyard. These courtyard houses are accessed via a communal entrance on the harbour side and via a pedestrian route along the waterfront. The lower maisonettes have front doors opening on to the street.

Five spacious, high entrance halls offer access to the apartments and the maisonettes on the upper floors. The communal garden in the inner courtyard is also accessed via these entrances. The garden consists of a wooden platform, a lawn, and three magnolia trees. The street façades were developed from the essence of the building. Blok 47 is a powerful, elegant building with exceptional expression. The vertical relief on the brickwork reinforces the impression of mass and weight. From an angle, the façade gives a completely different impression than it does from the front.
Sited amidst a heritage-protected urban ensemble by architect Hans Poelzig, L40 is a collaborative design by artist Cosima von Bonin and architect Roger Bundschuh. The monolithic, sculptural form is expressed in exposed black concrete. The building houses apartments on the upper floors, a showroom on the second floor and retail spaces on the ground floor. The design revolves around the relationship between users, tenants and the surrounding cityscape. Sharp contrasts between microscosmic, completely removed spaces and wide open, stage-like spaces create a tension that invites individual reassessment of ones own place in the urban fabric. The horizontality and large cantilevers of the structure reference both classic modernism as well as the neighbouring Landmark buildings.

The project comprises the construction of two square plan buildings: one tower of approximately 80 meters (tower A), and another of 40 meters high (tower B).
Moreover some polished steel panels are placed perpendicularly to the façades, which punctuate the façades and multiply the perceptions of the building.
The buildings are both made up of a platform, entirely in glass, independent, with the same height and accommodating the offices. As they are not taller than the nearby blocks, the platforms respect and extend their horizontality.
Dominique Perrault delivers here social housings of quality, offering substantial dimensions and spaces.
Then, two blocks, with different heights, seem to be floating above the platforms and accommodate the housings. Here the architect plays with the volumes: actually the tower A is made up of two volumes of housing with equivalent proportions, and slightly shifted. It seems that the architect has piled up different volumes, one on the others: one volume of offices and one volume of housing for the tower B, one volume of offices and two shifted volumes of housing for the tower A. The housing blocks are hanging above the offices thanks to a five-meter-high terrace. In this "in-between", only a core, sheltering the common spaces, brings an easy transition between the private spaces and the offices. At last, a footbridge, located at the same level and opened to the users, links up the both towers. Through the treatment of the façades, Dominique Perrault creates a real dialogue between the both buildings and between the project and its urban environment. Whatever the viewpoint, the façades of the three housing blocks never offer the same treatment of colors – black, grey and whites. These shades of color strengthen the stack impression and energize the city skyline.

Each level has 5 apartments; all the apartments have 3 rooms and a wide average surface area. The Dutch law enforces a totally deaf façade for the apartments facing the highway. Dominique Perrault plays with this imposition by articulating these apartments around glass inner loggias. These loggias, totally mobile and equipped with sophisticated filters, work as a real protection against noise pollution. Finally the polished steel panels, set up at the loggias level, capture natural light and reflect it towards the apartments. These mirrors also offer to the residents an alternative outdoor vision. "La Liberté" counts 120 apartments, split up in 15 different types with about 40 variants. So the high rise construction allows free spaces at the bottom of the buildings. At the North of the building, and to answer to the order, Dominique Perrault lays out the ecologic garden designed to develop the local flora and fauna. Opened to everyone, it will be integrated into the city ecologic way. A "meditative" garden will be created at the South of the buildings. It will be a space offered and opened to everyone.

Andersen Garden 安徒生花园
Andersen Garden is an impressive residential complex, where the Upper East Side neighbourhood is intended to resemble the prestigious areas surrounding Central Park in New York and will consist of residential, commercial and leisure uses. schmidt hammer lassen architects was responsible for the design of the largest plot comprising a 93,000 square meters large housing development.

The sequence of six slender blocks clad in white Chinese granite is placed on a sculpted green plinth housing retail areas and connections to local infrastructure and parking. Clear stair turrets link the towers and create a
sense of transparency. At the ground level, the green base forms a lightly undulating plaza and provides residents with access to recreational areas designated as community clubs. The upper part of the plinth forms a sunny west-facing parkland area. The individual units follow the classic style of Chinese courtyard houses in the historic part of Beijing, where accommodation is arranged around a central inner court. In this way the need for hallways is obviated. The orientation accentuates daylight access and view to the Bahe River and the green spaces beyond.

The architecture aims to present these institutions with a softer, more human and approachable profile. Tall buildings are generally associated with mid-twentieth century modernism. Their harsh, businesslike exteriors contain powerful, inaccessibleseeming strongholds. By contrast, the DUO and Tax offices deliberately cloak a commanding public institution in an organic, friendlier and more future-oriented form. All-round architectural sustainability includes a sum of many parts: (1)Fins Sustainability and energy reduction have steered the design of the facade, which contains technical installations that are tailored to be durable and cause minimal environmental impact. The facade concept integrates shading, wind control, daylight penetration and construction in fin-shaped elements. These horizontal fins keep a large amount of the heat outside the building, reducing the requirement for cooling. (2)Concrete core activation Another technical feature of the building that contributes to its sustainable character is the combination of concrete core activation and underground long-term energy storage. This
appreciably reduces the demand for external energy sources. (3)Individual climate control for each workspace Plenty of natural daylight and adjustable heating, ventilation and access to fresh air for individual workspaces contribute to the comfort of the workspaces throughout the building. (4)The 11th floor A high pressure ventilation system with natural air inflow and outflow via main engineering shafts and the facade grills on the 11th floor reduces the need for artificial ventilation. (5)Future possibilities In addition, the residual energy of the data center and offices can be used to heat the homes that will be realized in the future in the perimeter of the site. (6)Flexibility The building is designed so that it can be transformed into housing in the future without major structural modifications. Therefore, the locations of elevators, stairs and technical spaces have been carefully considered, and a structural grid of 1.20 m. has been deployed, rather than the conventional office grid of 1.80 m.

The 12-storey building is divided into three identical prismatic segments, each of which has been turned 90° in relation to its predecessor. With dimensions of 43 metres x 43, the segment is characterized by functional yet aesthetic compactness. Each segment contains four storeys, intersected vertically by an atrium. As a consequence, a spiral of atria is generated, forming an internal response to the dynamic exterior. The foot accommodates the public functions, which are oriented toward the atrium and include service desks, an insurance shop, and a healthcare service centre. A doctor ’s room and several consulting rooms are situated in the more private area. A practical system of partitioning divides the third and fourth floors into meeting rooms, a library, training areas, an auditorium, and a restaurant. The restaurant area can also be deployed flexibly as extra meeting space if required. The spacious staircases, which allow easy public flow through the atrium to the restaurant and meeting centre above, offer an unimpeded view of both the inner area and the water of the Winschoterdiep (canal).

The middle and upper segments are generic. The specific presence of the atrium, which allows the incidence of daylight into the building, contrasts with the neutral substantiation of each storey. The atrium divides each storey into various series of working areas with distinct qualities. The variation in spatial conditions enables the application of diverse office concepts, geared to the different work processes within Menzis. The atrium stairs facilitate informal contact between the storeys. The aluminium façade panels, with their specially developed metallic colours, are enamelled. The protruding and receding façade strips reinforce the play of light and shade. The horizontal structure and the variation in bronze tints accentuate the dynamic character of the volume. In combination with the use of natural materials, the magnolia garden around the building, with its diverse terraces, water features and illuminations, contributes to creating a pleasant and relaxed ambience.

ARCHITECTURE Since the building is below ground level, there are no facades. The main architectural element to be seen from the street is the large reflecting pool with a clutch of stainless steelclad cones rising from it. These cones introduce compelling sight lines and diagonals to the complex and bring daylight into the underground areas. Their steel skin has a relief imprint of dragons designed by the Dutch artist Rob Birza as part of the commissioned artwork. The underground facades facing the garden are of black textured concrete, a strong frame for the green gardens. Inside, floors, ceilings and walls are of fully prefabricated panels with a continuous stone facing. Against this hard stone backdrop, wall furnishings also designed by Rob Birza present a soft colourful finish. The cones are intimate spaces with warm wood paneling and zenithal light. CIRCULATION AND LOGISTICS The public entrance to the complex is centrally located at ground level amidst the water landscape. The reflecting pool works as a barrier to protect 133 the high-security grounds from intruders. At the same time, the water is a buffer tank used for cooling the building. Internal routings for the staff is organized as a promenade along the sunken gardens, much like the cloister walk of a monastery. In this way, staff can always find their bearings when moving through the vast complex. The elevator bays of the towers are located at points along this route. Besides the circulation for staff, there is a secondary logistic route of rear corridors for goods and catering. These corridors connect to the loading bays, kitchens, and storage and archive areas without interfering with the staff routings. A third circulation system is the infrastructure for the data systems, the most important element in Tax Office operations. The enormous bundles of data cable are organized in a separate underground duct corridor linking the central computer building to the various office towers.

The building divides into five distinct elements: archives/stores, museum, offices, client reception and services. Together these parts bound a central well at the building's heart. Here is the building's public portion comprising the main reception hall, restoration facilities and video auditoria. This large central space stitches together all the components of the institute. Considering that something like half of the required programme encompasses storage and archive rooms with rigorously stipulated climatic conditions but no need for daylight, designers decided on a horizontal division into two. The portion below the ground contains the archives vault, while above the ground are the museum and other use forms requiring natural light. Bridging the gap between these two portions are the public spaces, client reception and services. The central well delivers daylight down to the lowest levels of the vault. In the first instance zenithal light streams in through the skylights; the second, colored and tempered light enters through the glazed frontage of the superstructure. The large well in the superstructure opens to the south so that the afternoon sun penetrates to the core of the building and reflected light can skim over the inner facade wall of the offices. At the entrance, the void presents as a deep canyon that dramatically brings home to visitors the scale and the sheer size of the archives/storage vault. One of the canyon's sides is a flush wall, and the other rises in a series of inverted terraces. These contain the rooms for receiving clients plus annexes serving the archives and stores; the archives and stores themselves are concealed behind the flush canyon wall. The central well culminates in an enormous void where both museum and offices show their best face. The upside-down cascade of museum levels registers as a wall sculpture that shapes and scales the internal space of the building.

F ro m t h e b e g i n n i n g , t h e p ro j e c t wa s conceived as the possibility of making the “underground” visible, a construction devised as a radical manifestation of Madrid’ s outskirts youthful spirit in general, and of Rivas´ youth groups in particular. The project aspires to become an explicit “teen” communication vehicle by appropriating their language and their voices as the ingredients of the project. In this way, the project’s team embraces all Rivas’s youth groups by means of an open participation process, in which the future users of the centre, combined with technicians and politicians, will contribute their decisions, their concerns, their fantasies and their aesthetics to create a contemporary “social monument”. The end result of this process is a public structure with a punk spirit, intensely burdened with content and articulated around programmatic centres conceived as activity explosions, which are erected as meeting and exchanging points of the emerging communities.

The Grand Canal Square Theatre and Commercial Development in Dublin features a 2,000-seat performing arts centre which is integrated into a commercial area via two office blocks that include 35,000-square-meter of leasable office and retail space. This is located at the heart of the Grand Canal Harbour Development and creates a focal point for Grand Canal Square. The project is currently under construction. The 11,000-square-meter Grand Canal Square Theatre is at the heart of the Grand Canal Harbour development. The building is based on the concept of stages — the stage of the theatre itself, the stage of the piazza, and the stage of the theatre lobby above the piazza, illuminated at night. The theatre becomes the main façade of a large public piazza that has a five-star hotel and residences on one side and an office building on the other. The piazza acts as a grand outdoor lobby for the theatre. With the dramatic theatre elevation as a backdrop and platforms for viewing, the piazza itself becomes a stage for civic gathering. With their twin facades, glazed courtyards and landscaped roofs, the two office blocks which make up the Commercial Development provide sustainable, state of the art work environments. By designing multi-storey glazed atriums, the commercial buildings integrate with the adjacent retail, residential, cultural and public space components.

M as Museum Aan de Stroom The building The MAS was designed as a sixty-meter high tower. Ten gigantic natural stone trunks are piled up as a physical demonstration of the heaviness of history, full of historical objects that are the legacy of our ancestors. It is a storehouse of stacked history in the middle of the old harbour docks. Every storey of the tower has been rotated a quarter turn, creating a gigantic spiral staircase. This spiral space, in which a facade of corrugated glass is inserted, forms a public city gallery. The spiral route A route of escalators leads the visitors from the square up to the top of the tower. The story of the city, its harbor and inhabitants is told in the spiral tower. Visitors can enter a museum hall on every level and reflect on the history of the dead city, while on the way up breath-taking panoramas unfold above the living city. The top of the tower accommodates a restaurant, a party room and a panoramic terrace, where the present is celebrated and the future is planned. monumental stone sculpture. The four-color variation of the natural stone panels has been distributed over the facade on the basis of a computergenerated pattern. The spiral gallery is finished with a gigantic curtain of corrugated glass. Its play of light and shadow, of transparency and translucence turns this corrugated glass facade into a light counterweight to the heavy stone sculpture. The ornaments In order to soften the monumental tower volume, a pattern of metal ornaments has been attached to the facade as a veil. The ornaments have the shape of hands, the symbol of the City of Antwerp. This pattern is continued inside the building by means of metal medallions, cast according to a design by Tom Hautekiet with a text by Tom Lanoye. The plaza The museum square at the base of the tower is an integral part of the design. The square has been designed in the same red natural stone as the tower and is surrounded by pavilions and terraces as an urban area for events and open-air exhibits. The central part of the square is sunken and forms a framework for the large mosaic by artist Luc Tuymans.

The "rothoblaas" office is a large-scale commercial operation specializing in assembling systems and power tools for the woodworking industry. Warehouse and commissioning are situated on the ground floor whereas administration, a meeting room and a showroom can be found on the upper floor. The aim of the project was to create a compact building with a high level of recognition. The contemporany of the company becomes a corporate identity of the enterprise. This has lead to a functional, compact structural shell, provided with a glass envelope. The main building material employed is wood in order to show the own products.
The project is briefed as a boutique – business hotel located in a main busy road in central of Jakarta, which is called Wahid Hasyim street. Mainly known as a tourism and leisure, commercial stripe, this area contains many street side coffee shops and small hotels, which cater many local or foreigner tourists. The area surrounding is allocated for the commercial usage which results in a high building floor ratio, because it has a direct access to the central business district of Jakarta, called Thamrin area. The site itself is relatively small parcel of land, for commercial usage, which around 1500 square meters. Sandwiched between two commercial usage, a Spain embassy and office building, the site can be seen and approached easily from Thamrin area. Taken this commercial consideration, the client wants to build a custom – self operated business hotel, which has a vision to deliver an unique and customize product to the market. In order to deliver the best product to win over the market between surrounding competitors, the client held informal competition by end of 2007 to look for concept that suit for the project. TWS & Partners succeed to convince client and got the project after few months process of presentation.

Located in the heart of Las Vegas Boulevard, Crystals is the 500,000-square-foot retail and entertainment space, which is the connective center of the MGM MIRAGE City-Center project. Opened in 2009, City Center is a vertical city within a city which includes 2,400 private residences, two boutique hotels, and a 61-story resort casino. The crystalline and metal-clad facade signals to visitors well in advance of arrival that Crystals is not a traditional retail environment. The passage with a spiral roof leads people to the retail area. From the interior, the roof’s dramatic angles and skylights become a backdrop for the luxury retail and dining area which include Louis Vuitton, TIFFANY & CO., and Bulgari as well as concept restaurants from Wolfgang Puck and Todd English. The public spaces allow for a variety of urban experiences: a water feature at the entry, cafes and a grand staircase leading to Casino Square at the end of the arcade, animating the entire space. The design and construction of Crystals employ the most environmentally conscious practices and materials. In November 2009 it was announced that Crystals achieved LEEDR Gold Core & Shell certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), making it the world’ s largest retail district to receive this level of recognition.

Sugar Dock, Jacksons Landing
Sugar Dock provides 132 residential units, associated communal open space and underground carparking. The design of the development seeks to complement and respond to the building forms and open spaces within the masterplan and its urban context characterised by its relationship to large scale elements. Informed by a long trapezoidal masterplan envelope, the tower consists of a series of glass residential apartments enclosed and anchored by two precast shells combining the visual language of the new development with that of the old Pyrmont. Within the glass form, apartments are turned away from their primary boundary, and the adjacent tower, towards the view and optimal orientation. A podium element grounds the tower’s masonry walls and reinforces the sandstone cliff-like Bowman street alignment. A generous communal and private landscaped space links the Sugar Dock to the next tower under development. Apartments along Bowman Street have been articulated to read as a series of houses inserted into the cliff face. They have an intimate character with their connection to the park on Bowman Street and are restricted in height
allowing clearer views through site views from Distillery Hill and from the communal open space. The material chosen for the shells is vertically articulated light coloured precast concrete providing a relationship with the prominent sandstone outcrops of the Distillery Hill development. The elevations have been developed to correspond with the more private functions within and to provide protection from afternoon sun. To the north/east, a metal/glazed balustrade system has been developed to utilise daytime reflections to provide a surface to the building at the balcony line, suppressing the slab edge. Behind the balustrade is a series of fritted glass panels, arranged to create a greater sense of privacy and to provide a ‘screen behind a screen’ effect which operates both at the individual apartment scale and the scale of the whole elevation. The metal/glazed system provides a lightness to the buildings material character appropriate to its height and heightened environmental screening to the recessed balconies.

Koidula Apartment Building
Building is located close to the Kadriorg park, one of the most important and historical green areas in Tallinn. Currently the socially and historically rich district is developing quickly into a prestigious living area. The residential buildings along Koidula St. date from different periods and it has caused the chaotic structure of the street. The building is composed by the old renovated part and the new wing, which is in place of the old courtyard wing. Covered passageway connects the new wing to the existing building. The aim was to keep the courtyard and Le Balto office (Berlin) is designing a private garden there. It is possible to see the depth and beauty of the plot also from the street. The room structure of the apartments in the older part is changed, creating new connections through the floors. The new wing situates along the border of the plot and it opens only to the courtyard garden. The house could be divided into three linear sections. The first section opening only to the garden contains stairs to the apartments as well as terraces of all apartments. In the middle section there are living zone along with the bedrooms, the third section along the plot of the border contains so-called servant zone—kitchens, bathrooms, saunas and connections inside of the apartments.

Shopping Roof Apartments
The initial task from the client was to build a new shopping mall on the plot of the existing one. Furthermore the new project proposed use of the shopping roof for additional volume as new apartments. The wooden mass is located centrally in the village of Bohinjska Bistrica in the alpine area of Lake Bohinj. The village has beautiful views towards the mountains but unfortunately it was architecturally damaged in the 1960s with a textile factory and housing blocks, that were build around them. The textile factory was later closed down and the plot later occupied the old shopping mall and today the new one. The side views therefore are not very nice. The organization of the housing and the envelope of the apartments open

towards mountain views and the sun. Therefore the front, wooden facade is mostly transparent with panoramic windows. The side facade is closed, the windows open towards the balcony that is cut into the volume. From side windows also view open to the mountains. The stepped volume of the building follows the silhouette of surrounding landscape. On top of the shopping mall apartments are set in the form of stepped L-volume. From the west strong wind and snow arrive the facade which is opened only towards enclosed balconies and its material is gray slate which is designed as a vertical roof. L-shape volume encloses inner communal garden that is the roof of the shopping mall. The front and courtyard facade is warm and opened, made of wooden verticals with different rhythm.

TRIANGOLO
The apartment house TRIANGOLO was created as a dialog between natural predispositions, town and the construction site locality. The Nitra’s upland, Zobor and meander of the river Nitra represented basic inspirational dominants. Triangular parcel and the roof of harmonic curve together with dispositional and material concept eventually formed architecture into its final resemblance. From typological point of view the building is a three-tract, the corridors of which are lit along the entire height by daylight from terminal vertical skylight. In the architectonic expression dominates mono-materialism, two facades of identical appearance and curved section of the roof with domes. The dispositional and also the constructional principle unroll from bearing ferro-concrete cores, which enabled creation of apartments in various size categories. Individual conception is also indicated by the house symbol located by the entrance to the house.

Smarties
The building of student housing on the Utrecht University site turned De Uithof into a fully-fledged campus, simultanously tackling the chronic housing shortage for young people in this city. The new complex of 380 independent and clustered rooms manifests itself as a solitary mass in the ‘strip of objects’ of the OMA master plan (which also includes the Unnik tower and the Educatorium). A four-storey tall concrete ‘leg’, which projects by eight metres, shelters a range of communal and commercial spaces. The facade consists of a grid of multicoloured aluminium panels in which the windows are omitted. Seen from a distance, the colours blend into a grey, scaly skin. The closer you come, the more it appears as a colourful honeycomb for the bright young students – people's ‘smarties’ – from all over the world. Beneath this lively skin, the interior of the mass fosters encounter and interaction at every scale. Party rooms and niches along the staircases and
corridors make a microcosm in which young love can flourish and lifelong friendships can develop. De Uithof used to be a monotonous cluster of university buildings on the city margins of Utrecht. The separate buildings bore little relation to one another. Rem Koolhaas (OMA) and Art Zaaier devised a concept which would give De Uithof more coherence and character. Since then the object has been to achieve greater contrast between the built–up zones and open areas. The existing landscape qualities must be accentuated, but this must be balanced by compact building in functional clusters to enhance the level of urban interaction and eliminate the feeling of an urban desert. The central section consists of the Kasbah zone, a dense strip in individual buildings are closely spaced, and the ‘Object’ zone, in which the buildings are of a similar scale but grouped separately around a walkable public strip. A hallmark of the central area is that the buildings also communicate internally through a continuous walkway at first floor level.

The key of the overall planning for the waterfront is the relationship to the waterfront or lakefront. Whilst the buildings on the boulevard predominantly reinforce the alignment of the boulevard, the waterfront planning should tie the boulevard back to the waterfront. The current masterplan creates large building block footprints that remain heavy a reminiscent of old American models. The conceptual approach is relative to context and tropical climate. Three factors influence the sketch planning approach: allow permeable building blocks, smaller block sizes and radiate the buildings to enhance the visual corridors and links between the boulevard and the lakefront; varying the building height of ten-storey restrictions heightening at nodal points for massing hierarchy; unify the buildings by introducing a canopy roof uniquely tropical. The new urban plan places integration with landscaping and view as priorities. It encourages creating "fingers" of developments towards the water body and infused with park, creating a series of green forecourts. The urban plan suggests the building orientation and massing provide maximum view toward the water and development across the lake. The massing is broken into smaller components with different heights. This approach will ensure the integration of landscape and building massing. The landscape and public areas will be larger and located in between the building fingers, which will create an interesting "journey" towards the waterfront.

With 208 guest rooms and suites arranged around a helical floor, the hotel immediately dispenses with the idea that visitors must engage in the stale paradigms of rigid hallways and atria that characterize a typical hotel stay. The floor constantly shifts in width and pitch as it rises to the top floor, keeping public spaces always in flux. No two rooms positioned across from each other have exact views to the other side, already pulling the visitor out of the pedestrian and into the hotels uniquely urban world. Conceptually, the Helix Hotel participates in a critical dialogue between opulence and urbanness, between the variety of services offered by a small city and the demands of a five-star hotel guest. The floor suggests the curves a winding street would take through a bustling town, and many programmatic elements are open to views from across the central void. Though the void seems to offer unmitigated visibility, there are enclaves for private meetings and guest privacy. It is designed so that one activity feeds into the next rather than affecting sharp separations between each activity. On the luxury side of vacation culture, there are playful elements that make the hotel a designer destination in an iconic setting. From the outset, it is as much a showplace for the abundance of opulent life as it is a fully incorporated urban experience. At the entry, valets drive clients cars into the
car park, which, rather than being predictably aboveground or underneath the hotel, is situated instead under the bay. At the top of the Helix, the rooftop pool deck features a full sized swimming pool with a glass bottom, with the water and swimmers visible from eight floors below at ground level. In the restaurant below the lobby, the bay waves are so near to the floor plate that they lap up onto the edge of the restaurant inside of the glass curtain wall. The wall retracts, revealing a sweeping breeze. While focusing on unique design, Leeser Architecture is also committed to sound sustainability practices and worked with consultant Atelier Ten to determine the best possible conditions and materials for heat and energy conservation. The indoor waterfall allows for the accumulation of heat inside the hotel to be minimal by filtering cool water back up into the system as it falls through the void. In the sub-lobby, a dynamic glass wall is built from the base of the second floor down into the water. The wall acts as a curtain would, opening when the weather is cool enough and closing when it is too hot for exposure to the desert air. Portions of the outside surface are clad in panels made of a new material called GROW, which has both photovoltaic and wind harnessing capabilities.
The Biolab Squadron consists of labs sealed within two similar elements evoking Nautilus shells. The two shells, forming the Biolab Squadron, are a metaphoric example of the highest formal and technological sophistication of the most advanced laboratories conceived and the extremely harmful pathogenic viruses of our planet which are studied within themselves. The Biolab Squadron outer skin pattern is made of interlacing geometric
incisions reproducing the four conventional symbols attributed to the DNA sequence of the bacteria being studied. The result is a surface perfectly homogenous and uniform in its overall material, but mysteriously engraved by symbols illegible by most people. A sense of arcane volumetric unity bearing an enigmatic and indecipherable message emanates from this surface treatment.

“Car Experience” is a project for a building to be dedicated to the automobile: the car as an object of desire, a world to explore, a technology to study, an article to display and a means to travel around the building. On an overall scale the area tectonically resembles a road, with a structure similar to that of an elevated motorway or a car park, but on a more human scale, the structure is as complex, ergonomic and sophisticated as the interior of a car. The principal structure of the building is a spiral ramp with a glass partition dividing the exterior from the interior. In the internal part, reserved for pedestrians, the incline is more gradual, whereas the exterior and steeper side is for the transit of cars. The building’s typology develops sequentially, its structure similar to that of a film where the undisputed protagonist is the automobile. In fact the visitor, as the spectator of a film, is obliged, frame by frame, to follow the physical and psychological route as dictated by the museum’s architect.
The visitor enters the museum with his own car and initiates the exhibition’s journey. In this way visiting the museum is divided into two types of experience: the first is the experience of going up in one’s own car, the second is the experience of going down on foot. Along the surface of the ramp there are occasional glass blocks or “prisma” which protrude from the flooring and ceiling. Their size, depth and type depend on their function as each one is intended for something different, for example if the area is intended for open space functions, or if it is intended for functions that require greater privacy such as offices, meeting rooms, conference rooms, laboratories, bathrooms or kitchens. The outer facade of the building is completely permeable and reveals on sight the interplay of the different levels and the fluidity of the internal and external spirals. The building could seem to appear as an urban car showroom, with its corners and angles filled with tempting shining automobiles.

Skolnick seeks to synthesize art, science, and architecture to create memorable and meaningful experiences, passionately developing and pursuing his philosophy of “design as interpretation.” He is the firm’s visionary, leading the staff to unlock each project’s “motivating story” to inspire curiosity, understanding and imagination and to translate them into concrete expression. By making a thorough exploration and translation of content the starting point for design, he has brought depth, authenticity, and vision to an array of diverse architecture and exhibition projects around the country, including the Muhammad Ali Center in KY; the Creative Discovery Museum in TN; and traveling exhibitions for the Smithsonian Institution. The structure was designed for use by the general public and was located on Bedford Square in London, near the British Museum where it provided a rare place for the public to sit and gather informally. Its visually striking presence invites inspection from a distance and more closely reveals the merging of many discrete flat concrete elements into a single continuous curved form with a thick base that is stepped and ramped to accommodate many different uses. Alvin Huang is an award winning architect and designer with a profound interest in the application of advanced digital design and fabrication processes as techniques to drive the design, development, and construction of built structures. He is not only a proponent for the use of these tools and technologies as a means of challenging conventional notions of space and form, but also as a method for augmenting the role of the architect in the procurement of construction. Alvin received a Master of Architecture and Urbanism from the AA DRL (2004) and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Southern California (1998). He is currently the director of Design Research for Amanda Levete Architects (AL_A) in London, England. Previous experience includes collaborations with Zaha Hadid Architects, Future Systems and DMJM Designs. His work has been widely published in the US, Europe and Asia.

The project consists of two bus shelters designed for the Gordon Square Arts District within Cleveland’s Detroit Shoreway neighborhood. The brief called for the creation of functional and iconic elements to be incorporated as a part of an ensemble of new pieces of public art slated for the highly anticipated Detroit Avenue Streetscape project. Conceptually, the design is conceived as a single stainless steel surface which wraps and folds to create the shelter. The singular material enhances the sculptural quality of the modestly scaled shelters. Folds in the surface are determined by the accommodation of functional, contextual, and structural variables, which merge to generate the shelter’s shape. A pattern of perforations moves across the surface of the shelter which responds to localized conditions of sun, wind and view. In the evening the shelters are internally illuminated, projecting a subtle dithered pattern on the surrounding buildings and surfaces transforming the existing context and incorporating it as a part of this new vibrant installation. - 234 -

The Hotel encompasses 66 Premiere Rooms, 18 Junior Suites, 6 Executive Suites and The Royal Palm Suite situated in the Manor House and six low rise Mansions as well as three two bedroom and one three bedroom Villas. The Manor House also contains the Hotel Reception, the Lobby Lounge, two fine dining Restaurants and a Conference Facility. The Lobby Lounge and Restaurants open onto external dining terraces overlooking the 850 square meter main swimming pool which in turn is flanked by six private Pool Cabanas. Cap Rocat offers function rooms for the organization of private meetings, and an area for events that can seat up to 250 persons.
The former shooting pads, with a commanding view of the bay of Palma, have become spectacular suites each with a private patio and terraces. LOUNGES The former fortress halls have become relaxing areas, where different scenarios have been recreated, together with private lounges for exclusive use of our guests. THE TERRACE Located above the Fortress Hall, the panoramic terrace is an excellent area for the organization of a cocktail during the warm summer evenings and with stunning panoramic views of the bay of Palma. The Freudenhaus Eyeglasses follow an idea of the simplicity and high quality of materials, a timeless essence from clear lines, simple forms and high-quality materials. The interior decoration of the eyeglass shop reflects the mark example in convincing form. A concept was developed that above all arouses interest and curiosity of the quite young target group. At the same time by reduction and pureness of the design the eyeglasses move into the center of interest. The unorthodox disguised shop windows, whose round porthole cutouts are taped with videos of the current eyeglass collections, hide themselves to what the clients find as special presentation techniques behind the large metal door. If one got inlet after short ringing, the bright and clear design surprises at first sight. The white front desk floats as space sculpture in the center. From the ceiling and walls extendable glass tubes rise up in which the eyeglasses are presented. Space high reflective surfaces in the showroom let the small hitting a corner shop work and grow in space. If one finally regards the separation doors at the end of the area, one recognizes how the forms of the corporate architecture were taken up subtly here: A swinging door, which resembles an oversize pupil with its round glass cutout and the centrically set semicircular grasps.

H2O+ in Vancouver was a 130 square meters renovation that introduced a new, crisp, and clean design concept meant to compliment the natural sea derived skin products sold within the retail space. The crisp white interior design is highlighted with textural elements such as the wave panels. Accents of ocean blue tones compliment this energetic contemporary environment and work in harmony with the nature-found skincare products showcased.

The small shop near Vienna was designed to transform yellowcent’s already existing onlinepresence and its corporate design into architecture. A wall unit which has perforations of different sizes and heights acts as storage space and display area. Its surfaces consist of white high gloss finish and plexiglas. Facing the entrance a large integrated plasma display shows the company’s presentation videos. The panels on the ceiling—shaped like the cutouts of the wall display—hide the lighting and provide space for multimedia devices such as beamers and screens. The interior is completed by a multifunctional desk, which also appears in the colours of the company logo.

For the realisation of a trade fair stand for lighting manufactur Oligo, design agency BACHMANN.KERN UND PARTNER teamed up with Ueberholz. The booth appeared at Light+Building 2010. Oligo had serval requests. Firstly, it was important that the reliability of the firm´s name was emphasised following a change in ownership. In addition, Oligo desired the balance it successfully maintained between tradition and innovation be accentuated, was well as the high quality of its products. The two agencies used black to create a homogenous backdrop; against it, Oligo´s products came clearly to the fore. Black curtains made of gauze appeard to float around the perimeter of the stand, forming cubicles in

which individual lamps were presented. The partial transparency of the fine material took away the severity of the blackness whithout distracting visitors from the exhibits. This characteristic of gauze was very welcom to Ueberholz and BACHMANN.KERN UND PARTNER, as the two firms deliberately focused on reduction, showing that Oligo did not need an ostentatious appearance to convince visitors of its trustworthy reputation. On entering the stand, visitor´s attention quickly became focused on the centre of the space where Trinity, the firm´s latest product, was showcased. Illustrating the fusion of form, function and technology, several of the floor and pendant lamps formed the highlight of the presentation.

Leading independent department store Fenwick launches Bond & Brook – a new, integrated restaurant concept, central to the re-design of the prestigious luxury retailer’s flagship London store. Privately owned British department store Fenwick are set to show a major return to form, leveraging their status as one of London’s key "boutique" retail destinations, with the launch of Bond & Brook – a bespoke restaurant concept that will sit on the 2nd floor, overlooking Brook Street and sitting comfortably beside displays of high fashion, will be an all-day restaurant open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, cocktails and canapés in harmony with the store’s opening hours. Designed by architectural and interiors practice d_raw, in collaboration with the hospitality consultancy A Private View (founded by Evening Standard restaurant critic Fay Maschler & Journalist and Broadcaster, Simon Davis) and brand specialists Made Thought, the site, as one of a very small number to offer food and drink on Bond street, will boast not only a daytime restaurant but also a less formal café area and a large, sculptural, showpiece of a cocktail bar central to the no-expense-spared space. All elements of the design have been created especially for the reclaimed space, most prominently a curtain of semi-reflective, floor to ceiling, asymmetric glass "fins" that encircle the two store-facing sides of the restaurant, allowing the restaurant to be concealed or indeed opened up onto (and mixed with) the fashion floor, highlighting the store’s several new acquisitions. Other features include a full "fashion library" of books and magazines and a "champagne burst" chandelier (a visual echo of the celebratory ambience) rising above the pewter wrapped cocktail bar. The new restaurant, as a key part of the Fenwick’s major new re-design for 2010, signals a renewed commitment to a stronger than ever fashion proposition plus a stylish reminder of the unique flair of one of Britain’s most charming independent stores.

The restaurant Sky Lounge itself is on the 22nd floor of the Academy of Science, a VIP-hall is on the 23rd floor. Before that on the 23rd floor there were technical facilities, and the architects made everything from the upper floor. Though it is a single volume with a total area of 100 square meters, an impression of complex space is created at once. Such outcome is achieved through multiple reflecting effects. A column in the center of the hall is “wrapped” with dark-grey smoked glass. While the light is switched on

this rather massive structure works as a mirror. Many other columns also function as lamps: they are decorated with satin cloth, and illumination is integrated inside. A huge moon-shaped chandelier with 250 threads of bugles and a big table resembles a half-moon, created upon the drafts of Roman Leonidov. The major color is white here. When evening comes, columns shine; light from the large chandelier resembles stars in the sky, as the major theme is sky and clouds here.

Northern Star has a length of 75 metres and is designed for extensive and extended cruising in both northern and southern hemispheres. She features large outdoor spaces and provides ample seating for open air dining, lounging and sun bathing. In cooler weather conditions a heater in the overhead as well as glass panels for wind protection ensure that guests feel comfortable at all times. The interior, designed by Pauline Nunns, can best be described as a grand country home, which is executed in every single detail and dominated by light airy and comfortable traditional interiors. When entering Northern Star through the main entrance into the marble floored hallway you instantly get the feeling of a classic rather than a flashy yacht. The hallway provides a very impressive cylindrical glass elevator which accesses all decks and is encircled by the main staircase. The main deck hosts the main salon and dining area, which are executed in a warm red tone. Comfortable couches and chairs are placed around a real working fireplace and a self-playing Steinway piano offers musical entertainment. The 5 guest suites are also situated on the main deck and offer generous accommodations and very large windows. The decoration of each cabin is different but all is held in light colours. The beauty and massage room next to the guest cabins is a much sought-after spot onboard. Most of the upper deck is dedicated to the owner's suite which includes a cosy lounge with library as well as private study. The suite offers most spectacular panoramic views and two side doors offer the possibility to walk outside to a cosy seating area. The sky lounge on the same deck is a masterpiece in its own right and has the same light-blue and white colours as the owner's suite. Northern Star is a yacht built for pleasure, but above all other considerations she is a yacht intended to be self-sufficient during extended voyages on the high seas and well equipped for whatever she may face.

The designer treats the exhibition hall as its products and the design highlights its line, technics and pattern. L-shaped structure occupies too much space and the designer takes its full advantage to define the layout. The exhibition hall is naturally divided into two areas by designing a curve at the original structural column, which not only hides the huge column but also makes the rear of the exhibition hall become the important and hidden VIP room. As the key elements of the shop, the facade is covered with nearly 1500 stainless-steel mirror relieves. it reflects the various scenes from different angles and sparkles brightly as if crystals cascade down from the sky. its ever-changing day and night expression harmonizes light and fascination and attracts people out in the street. Stepping inside the store through the entrance, where another key element of the design, waterfall-like chandelier, is showcased, the visitor will encounter a crystal staircase. it orchestrates the sparkling of the crystals and radiates brilliance throughout the entire space by creating a fantastic atmosphere. Moreover, dazzling crystals on the floor are embedded in the stone like a fossil. Each staged object increases its transparency and sparkles more in the space when the illumination hits and brings the pieces to live as they are the creatures living in the forest. on the second floor, a special installation called “Shooting Star” will be presented, in which crystals make a scene just like a fall of shooting stars. With using the shimmer of the crystals to resemble stars, "Shooting Star" is an installation, which shows people the beauty of overlapped and reverberated transparent sparkles. From the minute one enters, one is transported into a futuristic, yet organic space limned with bold gold, silver and black details. Iconoclastic “360 Blob” displays catch the eye and are as arresting as the unique jewelry pieces within. This multi-level space is divided into different sections creating different characteristic and experience of jewelry shopping, but the fluid design also blurs these sections and transports people seamlessly from one area to another. The undulating golden staircase on the first floor for example, is designed with platforms so that people can stop at different levels, viewing the jewelry from different angles, all while ascending through the space to go to the next area. The jewelry pieces are also categorized within different custom-made displays that are unique in each section, such as the golden blob display, high-gloss black faceted display, and the golden oval display on the second floor. Additionally, a custom-made 4-meter wide sculpture which shaped as entangled chrome bracelets/rings are suspended from the ceiling creating a bold focal point to the view from outside while also filling the 10m high space. Another highlight of the store is the CUPID bar & lounge on the second floor where VIP customers can enjoy a glass of champagne while they shop. They can even chill out to the music of guest DJs at a special console area.

_Description the Barwa Bank branch design concept has been one of the most challenging projects that Crea International has ever developed: designing the most progressive Islamic bank of the future, showcasing modernity and coolness. the objective was to propose an environment aimed at making customers more and more familiar with the most innovative technologies, a bank thought where people would feel comfortable and welcome. through the methodology of physical Brand Design, Crea International team approached the project in a very logical and structured way: "In the first place, we look into the history and traditions of the country to get familiar with the components Qatari people felt very belonging to their culture and were proud of. we also analyzed throughout the mission of Barwa Bank and the values it stands for, and finally

The teller zone was purposely recessed off the branch marketplace so it would not become a dominant feature of the retail offer preventing the branch from feeling purely transactional. Tactically positioned digital screens were sited in the branch as part of its Attract, Build, Capture (ABC) Digital communications strategy to create the dynamic delivery of promotional and brand messages to customers. allen international used this new branch design as the basis of the separate “Dana” ladies banking branches. By defining a unique colour scheme, brand pattern and materials a more feminine space was developed. Finally, the affluent segment “Diamond Banking” was developed. With its own concierge desk, exclusive lounge, prayer spaces and discreet meeting offices, a rich, exclusive design was created for this segment.

_Description The client's guidelines for the project stressed on transparency of space, high flexibility in arrangement, modern, elegant look and direct contact with client. Model outlet interior has been divided into three access areas significantly facilitating orientation of customers in the bank. Without using the traditional partition walls the designers managed to distinguish self banking, customer service area and background facilities. Ceilings on the whole area are covered by custom designed lamps tightly adjoining to each other. Cylindrical shape of the
lampshades and blackness of the ceiling that increases impression of depth, both increase the feeling of space of the interior. Some lamps are used as ad carriers. Images placed at the bottom of the lampshade use the lamp lightsource to look similarly to citylight. The package of branding elements designed by medusa also includes internet post, fun-place for kids, leaflet stands, a form of retractable lightbox with highlighted ad and multimedia pylon. For better customer orientation designers have created signage system in each room located on the floor.

_Description The brief of this project is to convert an existing 2-floor building to be the new branch of the BCC. The floor area is 120 square meters and has an irregular shape. The original flooring will be conserved; thus, the project makes use of innovative solutions to create eye-catching visual effects. The drop ceiling is composed of large suspended panels in wood, which cast a pattern of light and shadow on the surfaces below. Utilities and cabling are fitted behind the ceiling. The calm, cool atmosphere of the office space is characterised by the contrast between the light-coloured areas of the walls and counter and the dark surfaces

_Description In an empty tenant space in a struggling neighborhood, OneCalifornia has filled a vacancy in an area with many empty storefronts. Boosting financial literacy is an important component of the bank's mission. Recognizing that banks can be intimidating to first-time users in this tight, urban setting, design lends to a place that is comfortable and inclusive. The layout allows movement to the teller and banker stations, while creating an intimate waiting area. Broad views to the street outside give a greater sense of security to the neighborhood and encourage other businesses to set up shop there.

_Description The basis of the concept was the idea of creating new, abstract space for corporate customers sector, which is extremely important for the bank. Solution Taking into consideration functionality, solutions used concentrated on maximum effectiveness and perfect matching to the character and duration of meetings, required technological equipment and the way of their organization. Central, spacious, representative reception is also adjusted for the waiting room with its business TV channels, coffee corner for people who are waiting and also for those who are in the cabinets, and the communication network which enables easy access to all cabinets. The client zone is linked directly with the back office. In the back office there are also cabinets of the management board and directors of particular departments and regions. Apart from the furnishing, the standard of the back office does not differ from the customer service zone. This consequence of improving the furnishing standard is characteristic for the project. It should emphasize not only the characteristic way of brand image building but also care for the work quality, deeply rooted in the interior and culture of the company. In the back office there are
comfortable armchairs for resting during informal meetings as well as equipment for individual or group work. Formally, the project is based on the concept of free flow of waiving walls. Made of two layers, orange and white, they create a kind of stiff curtain freely covering or showing the entrances, passages, and doors in the whole customer zone. Free waiving and sloping wall gives the futuristic effect and diversify the design and intervention effect of the building. It creates the impression of sewing the "internal clothing" on the fixed building construction. Every hole in the structure shows its thickness, multilayer, additionally underlined by internal lightings. The same rule creates the internal island . Colours which dominate the interior are the corporate ING colours. The usage of much higher intensity than in other branches, impose orange as the leading colour, supplemented with big amount of white and few hues of grey. This set of colours, enriched by lighting blue, visible mainly in the carpeting and furniture in the social infrastructure, breaks the warm energetic climate, balancing and making it calmer. The colour theme is seen in the whole space. White furniture, orange seats and walls, blue accents in the upholstering and carpeting create the perfectly harmonized wholeness.

Theme of the design: structural and spatial beauty This three-storey house is designed in a simple and proportional way and decorated with elegant ornaments. The well-regulated layout enables our line of vision to run through the whole flat, creating a spacious and comfortable home. French windows are preserved so that those wonderful scenery outside can be fully enjoyed. It also allows sufficient daylight to go inside the house while the varied daylight during a day creates different atmosphere for the house. Various materials are skillfully used to create an ingenious layout. Wooden floor is chosen
for certain areas to promote a sense of warmth. Black mirror is installed on the wall from the 2nd floor corridor leading to the sitting room, reflecting vague images which add to the house a sense of mystery and also enhance its spaciousness. Besides, clear glass is installed at the staircase to enrich the visual view, while the super-high decorative bookshelves at the living and reading room highlight the extraordinary ceiling height. Not many luxurious components are chosen, yet the design carries an attractive elegant temperament. Putting various elements together properly, together with various effects of lamplight and daylight, it creates a variety of atmosphere and a unique space.
Considering that the owner is young people, the special vocabulary is embedded in a reserved but dynamic design. The keynote of the television main wall is E beige marble, together with the carving wall under the line bringing the principle part extravagance as well as space atmosphere. The whole space is human-centered, taking black, white and cream color as main colors to decrease residential saturation. With natural structure and lines of elevation, the design highly sets off the moist and texture of those fine and delicate furniture. The designer is to create a living space without indoor and outdoor segment. The designer uses simple and white wall as a natural canvas, to let the lighting of pool reflect on the wall, floor and ceiling. These entire scene decorations can be enjoyed all the time in every single season. During the night, through the intelligent design of lighting,
the design makes both indoor and outdoor scene different from that in daylight, without the influence of night, providing chances to take participate in any activity both indoor and outdoor in the night. Skillfully making use of color and space, the designer creates a modern home with a unique taste, resembling a holiday home. A nearly all-white living room is deliberately designed to highlight the spaciousness created by the connection of two flats as well as to emphasize the outside scenery. A black wall, which is used to conceal the front door, serves to sustain and unite the style of the kitchen as well. A set of white dining table with wooden chairs is placed in a dining room without any clear distinction, granting the whole living room a natural sense of warmth, which put people at ease everywhere at home. Besides, movable glass doors are installed at the balcony, blending the indoor and outdoor scenery while letting in natural sea breeze and sunlight, so that the house is filled with a kind of natural warmness. Clive Wilkinson Architects was selected to lead the design team to implement a fit out for Macquarie that would complement their adoption of a new collaborative style: Activity-Based Working (ABW), a flexible work platform developed by Dutch consultant Veldhoen & Co. The designers’ first idea was to open up and animate the ten-story atrium with 26 ‘meeting pods’, as a kind of celebration of collaboration, allowing clear lines of sight through the financial business. Numerous work zones surround the atrium, designed to house 100 employees each in adaptable neighborhoods. An arterial staircase links the zones forming a ‘Meeting Tree’, emblematic of the interconnectedness of Macquarie’s client relationships. The Main Street on Level 1 offers communal spaces that are highly conducive to corporate and philanthropic events and include a café and dining areas. Within the office floors ‘Plazas’ were modeled after collaboration typologies—the Dining Room, Garden, Tree House, Playroom, and Coffee House, where cross-pollination among business groups is encouraged through spontaneous encounters. One Shelley Street has been designed to the highest levels of green star or LEED efficiency, using revolutionary technologies like harbor water cooling, chilled beams and zone controlled lighting. Overall energy consumption has been reduced by 50%. The interior staircase, linking the various neighborhoods, has reduced the use of the elevators by 50%. There has been a 78% reduction in paper storage needs and a 53% reduction in printing paper. Mail is scanned and distributed electronically, decreasing the need for storage. Employees have lockers in which to store personal addenda, and are deterred from creating paper waste, there's not a trash can in sight. One Shelley Street is positioned to be a trailblazer for the new global sustainable office building.

The main concepts of this project are the followings: OPEN AND BRIGHT AS THE FUTURE OF PRODIGY MSN The openness and translucency are evident in the whole Project. The layout gets all the advantage it can to the daylight. Most of the glassed façade is free, but there are a few points in which some meeting rooms and private offices are next to the façade. Those spaces are closed with glass, that allowed the openness and brightness we were looking for. In addition, the workstations are low and they have translucent boards. Finally, in the heart of the project was built a long piece of private offices, conceptualized as a glass box in which it was designed some graphic patterns make of vinyl to make these spaces more private but clear as well. They translate clearly the personality of Prodigy MSN. MULTI-PROPOSE SPACES This project was focused to be versatile. So, if we compare this project with a traditional one, we can find that this one didn’t look for a check list of needed spaces, moreover it creates spaces capable of respond to the client necessities. A clear example of this is the reception, which more than a wait-reception space, it is a node where employees, clients and visitors gets in. Into this node, it is located a coffee bar to make this approach warmer. There isn´t any physic board to separate this space to the work-space, and most of the meeting rooms are located into this node.

The offices have a variety of casual meeting rooms spread in strategic points to allow communication among employees, and some of them have other functions, as the collection and storage bar. LEED COMMERCIAL INTERIORS CERTIFICATION The main points in this project for LEED certification are the following. -The offices are into a building that is looking for LEED Core & Shell certification, and that building is located in an urban area that is provided by basic and accessible services and by public transportation infrastructure. - The project saves more than 20% in the water use. - The project gets a save of 20% of energy in lighting systems. - The project complies with the standards of energy efficiency that LEED recommends. -There is a dedicated space to collect and store recyclable materials. -More than 20% of materials used in the project have recycled content. -The HVAC system has filters that help to maintain the interior air quality cleaner. - Paintings, coatings, sealers and glues used in the project have a low content of VOC´s, which avoids interior air pollution. -100% of the workspaces have access to daylight and views.

This project responds to a requirement of specific use. A fundamental premise was established to work on base in the own themes of the architecture, as a way of giving to the exercise to project a reflection point about the different implicit relationships by intervening a territory. This argument is given from a set of general ideas that may go unnoticed but are essential to establish within the architecture work of a mindset that does not give specific answers to specific problems but has been raised as a trigger for various reflections on architecture. Is in part recognition of the relationships no explicit within a range of possibilities? In thinking about the problems of the architecture as belonging to the themes and thought processes, makes the architectonic answer not a perfect answer to the problems that implies an specific project, on the contrary will be looked as a range in which different architects, in different times, with their own characteristics of time, give answer according to the logic construction of an argument. An argument that leads to study, compare and recognize the issues of the architecture that at first do not appear to be comparable elements. -The main objective of this proposal, is to establish a space solution and the articulation of those that must have the CTC (Customer Technical Center) to create a space for the client in a way it potentializes the 3M products and could generate identification for the commercial aspects and markets initiative of 3M. -Conceive the CTC as a tool inside the business processes, making the CTC an important step in providing solutions, services and construct inside the environment of 3M long term relationships with customers. - Design a building to not only establish a relationship with the 3M business initiative but also create an architectonic communion with the previous building without unknowing the value of the architectonic work, but build a set of elements conceived in different times and become part of the representation of its period. - Make the architecture of the building itself CTC a model application of the 3M products in which many options offered by 3M products can be explored to architectural and construction solutions.

The main idea was to teach the software developers about the needs of architects and designers, by placing objects that emphasize the 3d and multimaterial complexity of it. Located in the center of the office, these objects are used to create the formal and informal meeting, lectures and relaxation space. The office area is about 500 square meters and located right beside the Tel Aviv harbor, the Israeli R&D center is the AutoCAD WS developers. It contains a mini stand, video games space, relaxation space, dining area, meeting rooms and private/common workspaces. 3D MULTI-PROGRAM,OFFICE CENTER The 3d multi-material object is made out of steel, glass, wood and fabric. It enables movement around, within and on top of it. The space offers a place to work and take a break. It includes a meeting room, video games lounge, mini stand for lectures\gatherings and a relaxation roof top space, which enables a view of the entire office. A MORPHED SURFACED DINING SPACE The dining table made from 6mm bent steel, was designed as a dual function object. It enables a standard height seating as well as a bar height seating. Its size and position allows the dinning space to blend as an inseparable part of the office. The HEIGHT CHANGING WORK SPACE An open space terrace platforms that enables a view towards the office and main window while working. It emphasizes its 3D, by being an object with diverse angles and heights, that allows the employees to move through and around it.

My Squash is a sports club that offers six professional squash courts, but also yoga and dance classes, aerobic, art classes for children, etc. The club also features a small restaurant and a hotel located nearby. The place was designed as a typical club that would attract a group of people and convince them to stay not just for one hour of play, but for longer – that is why the investor decided to open the bar and restaurant, for the purpose of having the interiors equipped with huge, comfortable sofas and ensuring the extra activities. The designer’s main goal was to create interiors completely different from the traditional image of a sports club that can be seen around us (in Poland). The new club was to be modern, easy on the eye and surprising. It was supposed to be stunning and outraging, inspiring and confusing at the same time, and surprising with its creativity. The interior stands out with its white and shiny epoxy floor and a nearly fanatic consistency in colors. The design included the installation of fantastic lamps by the internationally recognized Polish Puff-Buff workshop, as well as Cumulus lamps by Daria Burlińska, a young designer. The designer also used standard Scala sofas (Mebelplast) and Dr. Yes’ chairs designed by Starck for Kartell. The remaining elements of interior design were made to order, according to the design. It is also important that the investor was open to various ideas and did not limit the investment to a fixed budget, but gave the designer total freedom in their creative work. 030

In October 2003, two wonderful entrepreneurs came with their wish to start a new unique restaurant concept that would welcome parents and their children without looking like a playground. Indeed, children don't necessarily want to spend the evening with Donald Duck when their parents go out. The first Praq restaurant opened its doors shortly after and became quite successful and well-known. After five successful years, the two clients realized that the formula had the potential to become a restaurant chain, thus opening two new venues in 2008. Presented here is the first of the two that opened in Amersfoort, Dutch. Again, all have tried to create a restaurant that is inspiring and fun for children, while comfortable and enjoyable for their parents. This in an integrated rather than separated manner, which is more usually the case. The space is characterized by a monumental farm style roof composed of huge massive wooden beams. Within this space, a playful world has been tried to creadted by placing furniture and elements that form crossovers between objects and furniture or furniture that refers to the space itself. For example, a table becomes a window, a bus or a kitchen. The six-meter-high construction in the center looks like an abstract cloud evoking something of a colorful game while contrasting nicely with the handcrafted architecture. One space is reserved for children and their parents while the other is reserved for adults. The adult space clearly fits the same world. Only here, the accent is more geared towards cosiness and style. By the way, Praq means mashed food for children in Dutch, however, the plates sereved at Praq are very refined and tasty.

The private client convoked a proper architectural competition for five invited offices, the idea being to choose an architect for his new residence. The residence is situated in a new neighbourhood of six larger villas. The unique feature of the site is a splendid view of a stand of oak trees that are over a hundred years old. The terrain slopes down towards these trees. To guarantee that most of the major spaces will have access to this view, the house is organised in stepped levels following the terrain. The outline of the house keeps to the shape of the plot of land, minus four metres all around, the minimum distance Slovenian law calls for vis-à-vis one’s neighbours. The heart of the house is an external covered courtyard. Main spaces, such as the entrance lobby and staircase, the children’s playroom, the dining, living, bedroom and work areas, overlook this space. These rooms, plus the wellness area with its small pool, also have a view of the park. The staircase roof is glazed. The courtyard roof is part-glass, part-wood and has views of the sky and the treetops, thus creating a strong link between inside and outside. Structurally, we wanted to achieve a column-less ground floor. The ceiling of the dining and living area is slung from a Vierendeel beam hidden in the walls of the floors above. The glass construction and frames are also handled with minimum supports. Other programmes inside the house follow the client’s brief, which was very precise. Working partly at home, he has different hobbies. Security and fire escape issues are important, as is the clear division of private areas of the house and those where guests are allowed to wear shoes or where one receives the postman. The house has also to be “intelligent”. Various functions, such as air conditioning, security and sun-responsive external shade, can be controlled by software, and different ambiences can be created, using lights and music.

Drawing inspiration from their favorite vacation destinations, the client set the tone for their ideal lifestyle. The intent was to achieve “an architecture which is pure, clear, clean, neat and healthy,” possessing tropical overtones, natural materials and a hint of luxury. This modern tropical bungalow encapsulates the essence of living in the hot and humid climate of Singapore by creating open spaces which encourage natural ventilation and offer residents views to the ocean. The main design concept is to create a house which has close relationship with nature and this is achieved by having a swimmingpool linking the house with the landscape and ultimately visual connections with the sea.The idea of connection is reinforced by having the basement level media ro o m wi t h a u - s h a p e d acrylic window which allows diffuse natural light in and also views out into the pool. The curved roofs, symbolizing the sea waves, also emphasize the idea of the nearby sea. These are almost totally covered with thin bendable photovoltaic panels supplying enough energy to the house, while the remaining area is used as a g reen ro o f g i v i n g residents some outdoor leisure spaces. Fish House is a modest yet luxurious residential design which gives residents opportunities to live in harmony and comfortably with nature.

The design is generated by a subtle balance of tensions. Building volumes and the placement of windows, doors and balconies are not static but rather constitute an active three-dimensional composition in motion. Each piece of the building is a strong and clearly articulated shape defined by its program. The largely open interior is organized internally through a succession of spaces pierced. An excavation in the floor of the remaining structure knits the main level to the multistory living room and terrace level. The project is in large part directly related to the topography and engaging the lake and shoreline, conceptually carving into the hill at points and breaking away from it at others. Consequently, the building becomes an abstract reading of the landscape that contains it.
Located 5 miles north of Washington DC, the project is a renovated residence for a young family situated among a subdivision of utilitarian post war houses. The 2250sf residence takes the form of a simple mass whose purity is interrupted by the void space of a carport. Bounded by an introverted exterior, luminous living spaces unfold in a series of interlocking volumes that are more urban and contained. Stairs become a series of intersecting diagonal slices through space. Cement board sheets are sheared into abstract siding shingles that contribute to the unreadable scale of the building.

The parameters of the design were determined by the desire for autonomy of form and materiality, as well as the new building's interaction with the house and pool already on the land. An existing pavilion, acting as pool and summer house, was demolished and replaced by a new volume. The new building's form is a response to its position on the site, and the angled façade reflects the client's desire for living areas offering different degrees of openness or seclusion. The exterior is faced with horizontal, open-jointed cedar batten cladding, which further emphasises the geometry of the building. The three-floor building's overall volume is 1000m³. Garage and necessary storage and utility rooms are located in the basement. The open-plan ground floor comprises one large living, eating and cooking area, and there are three bedrooms and a recessed balcony on the upper floor. The interior, also designed by nimmrichter cda, is defined by its core faced in chestnut wood, which encompasses the entrance hall, with cloakroom and externally-accessible guest toilet, and the staircase. The building is Minergie® certified, a registered quality label for low-energy buildings. The energy concept includes making use of the neighbouring house's existing heating system and using solar panels to heat water for both houses.
Situated on a hillside site, the Graticule House is conceived to be a trace, or reference datum, allowing a reading of the relationship between the building and nature. Fundamental to the conception of the house is the notion of cadence, where repetitious vertical and horizontal markers of the building’s tectonics are juxtaposed with the particularity of the forest and ground plane. Light and space are modulated by meshing ribbons of glass and wall planes that form a tessellation of solid and void.
