I was not asked to open this relatively brief ceremony because I am the most expert person on this stage in the field of high fashion, the former president said in the company of de la Renta and Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour. Wintour, meanwhile, praised de la Renta and his work with first ladies and Clinton for her work over the years, most recently as secretary of state. “She always looked entirely appropriate wherever she was and nearly always in Oscar,’’ Wintour said. Wintour drew applause from the crowd when she mentioned the former first lady as a potential presidential candidate in 2016. “It’s anyone’s guess what the next chapter will be for this extraordinary woman,” Wintour said. “I can only hope that all of you here in Little Rock will be celebrating her come November 2016.” Clinton didn’t discuss her future or poke fun at her penchant for pantsuits on Monday. Visitors also see reproductions of a couple of de la Renta dresses Clinton has worn over the years, but the pantsuit stands out. The signage surrounding her pantsuit, much like her new Twitter biography, plays on the prominent pantsuits she’s worn. Clinton calls herself a “pantsuit aficionado” on Twitter. “Pantsuits designed by Oscar de la Renta are perhaps Hillary Clinton’s most famous sartorial statement,” a sign says. Across the exhibit, flowers decorate a handful of the designer’s evening gowns. Another array of dresses pay homage to the Dominican-born designer’s time in Spain. A mannequin wearing a black-and-white polka dot mermaid dress pauses as if frozen while dancing flamenco, her arms snaking through the air. “What I saw in Spain colored the way I have looked at clothes ever since,” de la Renta says in a quote displayed on the wall. The former first ladies’ outfits don’t look quite like they walked off the streets of Seville, but they’re still clearly de la Renta, a designer who has built relationships with a number of women in the White House. “Oscar has been a dear friend to me, and many other first ladies. His designs are truly beautiful and exemplify American style,” Laura Bush said in a quote near the red suit she wore five years ago for the White House Holiday Press Preview. Empresas no tienen que pagar por anuncios requeridos por la Ley Hola Arkansas Little Rock, AR Pese a las afirmaciones de ciertas empresas que buscan dejar sin dinero a los empresarios de Arkansas, algunas cosas en la vida son gratis. En este caso, se trata de los anuncios requeridos por las leyes laborales federales y estatales que pueden obtenerse de forma gratuita. Business do not have to pay for required postings Hola Arkansas Staff Little Rock, AR Despite claims otherwise from companies seeking to fleece Arkansas business owners, some things in life are free. In this instance, it’s the required postings of federal and state labor laws that can be obtained free of charge. A number of business owners have filed complaints with the Attorney General’s Office recently about receiving unsolicited invoices for the cost of materials required to be posted at businesses, such as those that explain minimum wage and overtime laws. All of those required postings are free and easily available from a number of government agencies. Attorney General Dustin McDaniel issued this consumer alert today to inform business owners about the scam invoicing. “These types of schemes attempt to take advantage of a business owner’s good intentions,” McDaniel said. “All legitimate businesses want to comply with state and federal law, but they can do so without having to pay for materials and without the hassle of dealing with a third party.” According to the complaints received by McDaniel’s office, businesses in Arkansas have been receiving faxed invoices in which an entity charges hundreds of dollars for the labor-law compliance materials. The invoice indicates that an employee of the business had verbally agreed to be billed the amount, yet business owners maintain that no one from the billing entity had contacted their business and no one had ordered

the materials. The Arkansas Department of Labor has also received multiple reports from businesses that have either been scammed or have been approached by companies seeking to charge the businesses for items that could be obtained for free.

The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) on Monday dedicated the Hillary Rodham Clinton Children’s Library and Learning Center in Little Rock. Clinton marked the ceremony by reading “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.”

The new facility was named for the former first lady after a vote by the Central Arkansas Library System in late June. Bobby Roberts, director of the library system, said the Board of Trustees voted to name the new library after Clinton, citing her work on children’s issues during her tenure as first lady of Arkansas. Her husband, former President Bill

Clinton, served as governor from 1983 to 1992. “I think she’s done so much over the decades really working with children, particularly starting in Arkansas, even before she was first lady,” Roberts said. Located on a six-acre site, the 30,000 square foot library cost $12 million and includes a computer lab with 14 computers, as well as a teaching kitchen, theater

and more than 21,000 books DVDs and CDs. Children will be able to learn about each of these services at the Central Arkansas Library System’s (CALS) Hillary Rodham Clinton Children’s Library and Learning Center, located at 4800 W. 10 Street. The children’s library is the latest building in Little Rock to bear the Clinton name. Last year, the Little Rock Municipal Airport

Commission voted to rename Little Rock National Airport after the state’s and country’s famous former first couple. It’s now known as Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport. The William J. Clinton Presidential Center is also located in Little Rock.

These tests are administered so New Americans can show their commitment to this country by demonstrating that they speak English and understand the basic tenets of our democracy. Although the test is a formal set of questions about American democracy like; How many branches of government? Who was the first President? What is the Declaration of Independence? The work leading up to

passage of the Senate bill was itself a lesson in democracy. For many immigrants who may one day be RPIs, their participation in efforts to pass legislation shows that they have already participated in their first civics lesson. We do know, however, that the process has brought millions of people already living and working here deeper into the fold of American democracy. Their engagement in the very process that could legalize their status indicates that they already have the characteristics and traits that we hope to see in our citizens, regardless of where they were born.

Responsible for the initiation, development, coordination, oversight and execution of its public policy initiatives for FY2014, including activities related to the Arkansas Public Health Leaders Roundtable, the Arkansas Minority Health Consortium and the 3rd Biennial Arkansas Minority Health Summit. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. This is a contracted, independent consultant position effective through June 30, 2014. Minimum Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have experience in developing or participation in the development of local, state or national policy (legislative bills, regulations). A demonstrated capacity for communicating with minority populations, as well as local, county, state and national public service, elected officials. Must have experience in organizing meetings around policy-related issues and in collaborating with public health leaders and advocates. Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Will require computer skills, organizational skills, and the ability to analyze data, interpret information and write reports. A minimum of a Bachelors Degree is required.
