Launched by President Obama in 2014, Immigrant Heritage Month is celebrating it’s third anniversary by teaming up with more than 50 high-profile artists and entertainers to reclaim the word immigrant and encourage others to do the same.
The annual Immigrant Heritage Month (IHM) is dedicated to those who have contributed to the United States’ communities, economy and its vibrant diversity. One of the remarkable things about America is that nearly all of our families originally came from someplace else. Immigration is part of
the DNA of this great nation. It’s a source of our strength and something we all can take pride in. That’s why during Immigrant Heritage Month, we are encouraging you to share your American story. In recognition of Immigrant Heritage Month, the White House shared a touching blog post from White
staffer House Zaid Hassan sharing his personal story of becoming a U.S. citizen. The White House will be posting a blog series throughout the month of June that highlights the stories of Administration officials and everyday Americans with immigrant roots. See IMMIGRANT Page 4A

These services are available through free citizenship workshops and clinics hosted by local organizations that form part of the New Americans Campaign, a national coalition to make

Virtual assistant Emma now available in Spanish ¡Hola! Arkansas Washington, D.C U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services expanded the capabilities of “Emma,” a virtual assistant that allows customers to quickly find accurate immigration information. Now, Emma can answer questions and direct users to relevant USCIS web pages in Spanish as well as English. You can find the new version on USCIS’ Spanish language site, uscis.gov/es, and is accessible from any electronic device. As with the English version, launched in December 2015, you do not need to know official government terms to ask a question. To start chatting with Emma in Spanish, visit uscis. gov/es, click the “Haga una pregunta” link in the upper right corner and use words, phrases or full sentences in Spanish. Administrative Specialist III STEM Scholars Academy Especialista Administrativo III Académia STEM The Administrative Specialist III will help to staff the National Science Foundation funded STEM Academy Implementation Grant. A new and major component of the grant includes an increase in the number and success of Latino STEM majors. Major duties and responsibilities for this position include providing administrative support for the HBCU-UP grant by record keeping, data entry, monitoring the STEM Student Resource Center, serving as a communication liaison and support staff for Latino participants in the STEM Academy, and assisting with recruitment for the STEM Academy and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. The Administrative Specialist III is responsible for coordinating office activities, researching and preparing special reports, and developing, revising, and recommending policies and procedures to help advance STEM student success. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institutional policy. The Administrative Specialist III (A.S. III) researches, analyzes, organizes, and disseminate data pertinent to the goals and objectives of the UAPB STEM Academy. These duties include: preparing special reports and developing activities in compliance with the procedures, policies, and directives based on the program needs of the STEM Academy including STEM student outreach, monitoring, tracking and support. The A.S.
