Increasing Productivity A lot has happened in the past three years and our day

to day may look drastically

different than before. Many of us may struggle with burnout, implementing self-care, and overall productivity. If you are

finding yourself in a slump, we have researched habits you can implement to get back to living!

4

Establish a Morning Routine

Get Moving

Fuel Your Body

A good morning routine can set the tone for the day, experts recommend starting your day off with a win! Something as simple as making your bed can allow you to feel positive and start the day off with a sense of accomplishment.

Implementing regular exercise has exhaustive benefits for mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. Start by going for a brisk walk. If you are working remote, try breaking every 90 minutes for a quick walk, and fresh air.

Food is fuel, and for your body to function properly you’ll want to make sure you are eating nutrient dense foods and adhering to any dietary restrictions you may have. Be sure to pick high quality foods and ensure you are eating enough to provide your body with the energy it needs to get you through the day.

Sleep

Un-Plug

7-9 hours is a good benchmark for the average adult. Place boundaries around your work and social life to accommodate for getting enough sleep each night. Your sleep or lack thereof can greatly impact your mood, energy and stress levels.

It can be extremely challenging to stray from our devices especially in this day and age, but reducing your screen time can actually promote lower stress levels, higher productivity, more focus, better posture, and support eye health.

Time Blocking This is an incredibly important habit to implement to get more out of your day. Set blocks of time designated for working on certain projects or tasks. Turn off notifications when working so that you are not distracted. Time-blocking can also help you find your most productive time.

Plan for the Next Day

Say No

Don’t Forget About Hobbies

At night, be sure to have the next day all mapped out so you can get straight to it when you awake. Creating a calendar or to-do list for the next day the night before can allow you to easily jump right into the tasks that need to be done.

Whether its professional or personal, remember you are allowed to say no to things. Do not be afraid to turn down a project you cannot allot time for, a social event you won’t be able to attend. Make sure you are scheduling your time in a way that makes you feel best. It’s your time, and you can never get it back.

Spending time doing things that fill your soul will allow you to experience more happiness, and recharge you so you can take on other aspects of your life. Schedule time for your favorite activities, projects, volunteering, etc.

Owning Is More Affordable Than Renting In Most Cities I f you were thinking about buying a home this year, but already pressed pause on your plans due to rising home prices and increasing mortgage rates, there’s something you should consider.

According to the latest report from ATTOM Data, owning a home is more affordable than renting in the majority of the country. The 2022 Rental Affordability Report says: “. . . Owning a median-priced home is more affordable than the average rent on a three-bedroom property in 666, or 58 percent, of the 1,154 U.S. counties analyzed for the report. That means major home ownership expenses consume a smaller portion of average local wages than renting.”

(typically 15 to 30 years) and give yourself a stable and reliable monthly payment. When asking yourself if you should keep renting or if it’s time to buy, think about what Todd Teta, Chief Product Officer at ATTOM Data, says: “. . . Home ownership still remains the more affordable option for average workers in a majority of the country because it still takes up a smaller portion of their pay.” If buying takes up a smaller portion of your pay and has benefits renting can’t provide, the question really becomes: is renting really worth it?

Other experts in the industry offer additional perspectives on renting today. In the latest Single-Family Rent Index from CoreLogic, single-family rent saw the fastest year-over-year growth in over 16 years when comparing data for November each year (see graph) Molly Boesel, Principal Economist at CoreLogic, stresses the importance of what the data shows: “Single-family rent growth hit its sixth consecutive record high. . . . Annual rent growth . . . was more than three times that of a year earlier. Rent growth should continue to be robust in the near term, especially as the labor market continues to improve.”

What Does This Mean for You?

While it’s true home prices and mortgage rates are rising, so are monthly rents. As a prospective buyer, rising rates and prices shouldn’t be enough to keep you on the sideline, though. As the chart above shows, rents are skyrocketing. The big difference is, when you rent, that rising cost benefits your landlord’s investment strategy, but it doesn’t deliver any sort of return for you. In contrast, when you buy a home, your monthly mortgage payment serves as a form of forced savings. Over time, as you pay down your loan and as home values rise, you’re building equity (and by extension, your own net worth). Not to mention, you’ll lock in your mortgage payment for the duration of your loan

Bottom Line If you’re weighing your options between renting and buying, it’s important to look at the full picture. While buying a home can feel like a daunting process, having a trusted advisor on your side is key.

Cleaning Habits

Establish ongoing cleaning habits, which can make the next spring cleaning even easier.

Get the Household Involved

Get the whole household involved for spring cleaning. Assign age-appropriate chores, so everyone feels included.

Cleaning Products

When shopping for new cleaning products for spring cleaning, keep your items to a minimum.

8

First, you will want to go through all of your clothing, food, toys, etc. You’ll want to have 3 bins: one each for garbage, donation, and keep. Sort through everything to get rid of any unneeded items to eliminate any additional clutter. Once you tackle this you can get started on the next phase. Before tackling spring cleaning it’s a good idea to make sure you have all the supplies necessary. Grab cleaning supplies from your local supermarket or dollar store.

Energy Efficient Remodeling Ideas to Reduce Utility Bills

New Windows

Floor Insulation

Seal Transitions

Windows are hands-down one of the best renovations for improving energy efficiency. New windows can help you leverage the sun to the fullest extent. Large, clean windows can increase the flow of sunlight into your home, limiting the amount of electricity consumed for artificial lighting. In addition, strategically placed windows, such as those on the south side of the house, can help you maximize the sun’s passive heating potential.

Most homeowners think of wall and ceiling insulation as critical renovation for controlling a home’s utility bills. While there is definitely merit to this thought process, insulating the floor should not be overlooked. At least 10% of all heat loss in a home occurs through the floor, making floor insulation an underrated remodeling project for curtailing energy bills.

Applying sealant to transitions in your home’s building envelope, such as expansion joints, control joints, and window-to-wall connections is another great way to restrict unwanted airflow into and out of your home. While this process may seem relatively simple, it must be performed correctly to achieve the desired results.

There are many reasons to remodel your home. The best remodeling projects will make your home safer, more functional, and more aesthetically pleasing. However, arguably the most pertinent concern for undertaking a remodeling project is to see improved energy efficiency. While exact figures are difficult to pin down, the most conservative estimates indicate that buyers are willing to pay at least $5,000 more for an energy efficient home over similar, less-efficient properties. Therefore, consider any of the following energyefficient remodeling ideas that help reduce utility bills.

Moisture Protection Homeowners spend approximately $2,500 fixing problems related to water damage around their homes. And these are only the direct costs. Water damage will undoubtedly create chasms that lead to mass airflow and heightened utility bills. For more information and tips on energy efficient remodeling ideas for your home

Roofing Upgrade

A new roof is another common-sense remodeling project for those looking to get utility bills under control, as the roof is one of the areas of the home most susceptible to leaks. As hot air rises, this can lead to significant amounts of heat exiting through the roof in the year’s colder months. Composite tiles are the best type of roofing material for withstanding extreme weather conditions.

About Us October 14, 2015 was the first day I went out on a street mission to help those experiencing homelessness. I was always driving around town running errands for my other business, Paper Clouds Apparel, and every day would see individuals holding signs asking for help, most of the time wearing shirts that were dirty or falling apart. This first venture I was with my friend Brie, and had a large stack of new t-shirts printed with the Paper Clouds Apparel logo, and a stack of hand written letters of hope, notes filled with encouragement. I had no thought of beginning a nonprofit, I was just going to hand out positive letters and new shirts. Daniel was the third person I met that day, and he changed my life forever. When we approached Daniel he was sitting in the park and did not have a shirt on. I approached him, shook his hand and we exchanged names. I then handed Daniel a new shirt and letter of hope. Daniel took them and then placed his head in his hands and began to cry. I asked him if he was ok, and Daniel told us that everything he owned was stolen a week ago, and he didn’t even have a t-shirt to his name. Hearing that inspired me and I realized I was going to do something to help those in need. In May of 2016 Cloud Covered Streets received our 501c3 nonprofit status. When I was out on the streets, our goal from the start was to develop friendships with the people we helped. I always tried to make sure everyone we met understood that we cared about them. One of the questions I would always ask was: “What is something you could really use?” The most common answer was “A shower.” Their answers started over a three year project to bring them what they need. I researched and found others who were bringing showers to the streets, but they hadn’t combined other resources like a laundry machine, so they would shower and then put back on dirty clothes. We wanted to do better. Along the way we had multiple construction and fabrication companies promise to help our dream come true, only to disappear when needed. So we decided to build it ourself. We bought an empty 22 foot cargo trailer, and with the help of a couple friends, and a couple local businesses, we completed the build of our first mobile shower/laundry trailer in March of 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic caused a delay in our launch, but soon we will be out on the streets and helping those experiencing homelessness. Cloud Covered Streets is not going to stop with one trailer. We understand that homelessness is an issue all over the United States and we want our trailer in every city where there is a need. Thank you all for learning about Cloud Covered Streets and we hope to hear from you, have you volunteer at a trailer, or maybe even lead up a street team. Thank you for your support. Without your time and donations, none of this would be possible. Have a beautiful day.
