Stephen was born at Davis Mathis Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona, where his father was stationed as a military pilot As a military family, they moved around often but eventually settled in Georgia when Stephen's dad went to work for Delta Airlines In 2004, Stephen moved to Athens to attend the University of Georgia, where he majored in International Affairs. After school, he met his to-be-husband, Cheyne "Shane," and they decided to stay in Athens and build their life together, marrying in 2016 Stephen's professional career started as a set and event designer, and he created sets for many blockbuster films and TV series and designed events for Fortune 500 businesses and celebrities. In 2013, Stephen obtained his real estate license. By the end of 2015, he added his Graduate REALTOR Institute designation. Since starting his real estate career, he has helped more than 800 clients buy or sell homes throughout Georgia By working closely with builders, developers, and designers, Stephen's input and expertise have helped craft some of the most popular neighborhoods in the state He has served as president, vice president, and board member of the local Association of REALTORS and a committee member for the Georgia Association of REALTORS Standards and Grievance He has also served as his neighborhood's homeowners association (HOA) board representative

In 2020, Stephen and Cheyne also developed NormalBnB, three short-term rentals in the Normaltown neighborhood of Athens. Stephen, Cheyne, and their two cats, Duck and Mika, still call Normaltown home However, they sometimes leave their cats at home while traveling worldwide Though both Stephen and Cheyne always seem to find a way to work a little during these adventures.
