Chill your taste buds at a local ice cream, yogurt, or snow cone shop. And, if all of this isn’t enough, you can be sure Parker County will continue to grow and surprise us with more cool things to see and do in the months to come!

bout David R. Stoecklein David Stoecklein launched his photographic career taking lifestyle shots of skiing, fishing, hiking, and biking, landing assignments for companies such as Coca-Cola, Ski Magazine, L.L. Bean, Reebok, Timberland, and Scientific Angler. It was not long, however, before he turned his lens to his neighbors on the great ranches of the West. He has spent the last 30 years documenting the culture as well as the people of the region. David’s fascination with the ranching heritage of the American West led him to befriend, and subsequently photograph, the men and women still breathing life into the mythical figure of the cowboy. David’s passion for preserving the traditions and beliefs of the country’s honest,
hard-working cowboys and cowgirls gradually earned him their respect. With that respect came an open invitation to share in their lives, and the great responsibility to honor their trust. David’s personal mission soon led to more assignment photography for America’s greatest brands including Stetson-Roper USA, Grasshopper-Keds, Farnam, JanSport, Merial, Eddie Bauer, Nestlé, Platinum Performance, Ariat International, Chevrolet, Jeep, Daimler-Chrysler, Marlboro, Kodak, U.S. Tobacco, Ford, Budweiser, Remington, and others. His client list of today includes Dos Equis, Bayer Animal Health, Idaho Potato Council, Columbia Sportswear, Wrangler, Intervet, Agri Beef, Vogt Silversmiths,

Ryan Michael, Roche Pharmaceuticals, Canon USA, Sony Pictures, Justin Boots, 20th Century Fox, United Artists, and more. David work has been featured in most of the great magazines around the world including publications such as: “Western Horseman”, “Farm and Ranch”, “American Cowboy”, “National Geographic, Outdoor Life”, “Persimmon Hill”, “Time”, “Newsweek”, “LIFE”, “Cowboys & Indians”, “Working Ranch”, “Orvis”, “Outdoor Photographer”, “Digital Photographer”, “Big Sky Journal”, and many more. Stoecklein Photography houses an extensive collection of stock photography encompassing both lifestyle and western images, David‘s gallery in Ketchum, Idaho, features fine art prints and western memorabilia. Stoecklein Publishing has published over 50 coffee-table books of David’s photographic works as well as books for other western photographers and authors. Stoecklein Publishing produces an annual line of western calendars and datebooks as well as lithographs and fine art prints, notecards, and other products featuring David’s photography. David Stoecklein has
been a member of the distinguished group of master photographers in Canon’s Explorers of Light program for 19 years. David has also been recognized by the editors of True West magazine as the “Best Living Photographer of the West.” The distinguished award is given each year as part of the magazine’s “Best of the West” issue. David has received this award five times. David Stoecklein resides in Idaho with his wife, Mary, and their three sons, Drew, Taylor, and Colby, where they split their time between their home in Sun Valley and their ranch in Mackay.

hen antiques dealer Bond Ehrhart opened his new store in Weatherford 9 years ago, he decided to be open only three days a week, thus the unusual name “Just Three Days Antiques”, Thursday through Saturday, was started. His daughter Arden joined the business earlier this year and business expanded to “Just Three Days + 1 Antiques”, now open four
days a week. The shop houses 3400 square feet of merchandise and is located at 219 N. Main. Sixty-three year old Ehrhart stocks his store with antiques purchased on the east coast where he travels every year to attend antique shows. He also carries some new merchandise.
Since going into the antiques business over 30 years ago, Ehrhart has

is a thriving business in Weatherford. There are fourteen or more stores in the city and customers come from mostly outside of town. For the dealer who once did 44 antique shows a year, the pace is slower now and he hopes to be in the business for many years to come. When you visit his shop ask him to show you a most unusual item, a Cheese Dome, if it is still for sale.

Snakes Alive!
So
I rolled 200,000 miles in my old Ford truck and figured I would celebrate with an oil change. Found the stuff
down at the big box store and it was all good until I tried to leave the auto department. Some fool had installed a display of brand new car stereos right in my way, and I became instantly bedazzled by the charms of glowing blue lights, swanky CD slots, and a place to plug in my eye fone…all for a hunnerd bucks! Danged if I’m ready for God’s check-out lane quite yet, so I scooped it up and decided maybe there was life after cassettes. New tunes and new oil… won’t Babydoll be pleased with me. Well, I slapped that new oil in there in twenty minutes, wiped down my hands and got ready to play electrical genius. How hard could it be? Well, three hours of grunting, groaning, banging, yanking, and pleading for mercy later, I was cursing the punk who designed this contraption. Musta had an attitude and a beef with men in their 50’s ‘cause I hadn’t had my
mind blown like that since Rod Stewart went disco. I decided enough was enough, and re-installed the old twelve-pound cassette player. Babydoll seemed okay with that, and I felt pretty good until
snake from under the dash and make it to work in the same day. Been three days now with the doors open, and it finally occurred to me that it’s a good thing that new stereo didn’t work out, ‘cause somebody would have stolen it by now…or got scared half to death tryin.’
I turned it on and all I got was fuzz. Looked down to see I had not plugged the stupid antenna wire back into the unit. I groaned a little, then decided if I just played cassette tapes all the time, I’d be fine. It was gittin’ dark, so I went down to shut the chicken house and collect eggs. Danged if there wasn’t a big ole rat snake all curled up in the nest box, with an egg halfway swallowed and two more lumps a little further down. Now I’m a peaceable fellow, and I realize everybody’s got to eat, but this was not going to cut it. I grabbed a hoe and a feed sack, and with the skill of a trick-roper, flicked that snake right into that sack --- first try, thank you very much. I rolled the sack down tight, stuck it in the truck, and headed for the house, figuring I’d let him go

in the morning as I passed by a nice patch of woods. Next morning, I was driving to work when I looked down and saw that antenna wire was hanging loose, so I reached down to tuck it back up… and it coiled around my hand! Holy mackerel and a flap my lower lip! I’m not exactly sure of how it all happened, but within the next two seconds, I screamed, hit both the gas and the brake with the same foot, flung open the door, and thanked God for the seat belt ‘cause I was still doin’ about 35 mph. I whipped over to the side, threw it in neutral, and baled out. After I caught my breath, I realized I was going to have to get back in there and drive, ‘cause there’s no way I could extract that

proud of the city’s new elevated Water Tower, showcasing the Aledo logo, and the newly constructed Wastewater Treatment Plant. That’s not all!! Future growth and improvements that lie ahead for this growing community includes, but is not limited to, the widening of FM1187, The Parks of Aledo subdivision, enhanced curb appeal, added sidewalks, murals in downtown, landscaping and historic street lights. The grounds next to Aledo Trail, to be completed by February 2014, will be further developed along with existing parks through a collaborative effort between UTA, Mayor Kit Marshall, the Aledo City Council, Aledo Economic Development Corporation and city staff with the completion of Aledo’s first Parks and Recreational master plan. Visit and experience Aledo’s “small town” flavor with its dynamic future and rich heritage. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings, shop the local Farmers Market at the corner of Elm and Front Street. Come hungry and be ready to please your pallet!! Aledo has many eateries including Agape Coffee Haus Bookstore, Aledo Diner, Bearcat Café, Garden of Eat’ N, Joe’s Pizza & Pasta, Maria Bonita’s Mexican Cuisine, Taco Taqueria, Scoop Me Ice Cream Shop, Subway and Sonic. Get acquainted with Aledo’s finest boutiques, spas and other business merchants. While visiting Historic Downtown, stop to shop at Aledo Yoga and Wellness Center, Bird’s Nest, Milestone Photography, Chattel, Christopher Moore Salon, Forte, Grace
Day Spa, Recycled Treasures, Rock House Salon, The Flower Shop, Touch of Elegance and Urban West. Aledo Mayor Kit Marshall stated, “Aledo truly is blessed and I believe that a lot of that is tied directly to the number of churches we have in our city, along with our rich heritage and the number of people who pray for our city. If you are a part of that, I just want to say thank you.” U.S. Congresswoman Kay Granger also said, “It is the people of Aledo, not the train, that keep the community going.” AISD Honor Student Rachael Larson put living in Aledo into a teenager’s perspective; “Aledo is a definition of a football town, and I love that small town feeling of recognizing countless faces everywhere I go. It’s a true community in every sense of the word…. We are a community where everyone is involved.”
