Target Audience
Interesting creative work. In all cases they’re coming to see something beautiful, thought provoking, exciting, interesting. They want to see that for different reasons – schools want to be sure that standards are still high. Students want to see what kind of work they’ll get to do when they come to Leeds. Creative professionals want to see emerging talent that could be good for their business. But at the end of it all they want to be engaged by good work.

Beautiful Meme
Josh Nathanson
The Beautiful Meme’s use of large bold copy written slogans partnered with bright vivid contrasting backgrounds make for eye catching designs that are sure to grab the attention of passers by, the key to a successful campaign.
For the 2010 Kingston degree show, Josh Nathanson created a series of brightly coloured posters partnering text similar to Beautiful Meme and Anthony Burrill with colourful abstract images. Centre alignment of the text on all three design projects draws the audiences eyes towards the prints and large typography.
Anthony Burrill Similar to the Beautiful Memes work, Anthony Burrill uses large typographical slogans on a contrasting background to create attention grabbing pieces of design.

Concept
Phrases
The concept ‘going places’ is based around the emerging talent emanating from Leeds College of Art. The term ‘going places’ refers to an individual who is exceptional at what they do, bringing with it strong connotations of ambition and success. To accompany the title, a series of phrases will be used to further communicate the idea of progression.
The campaign focuses on a series of interchangeable phrases that play on the theme of moving on and ‘going places’. The phrases also link with the exhibition and the way in which it is temporary, another key theme running throughout the printed collateral. - Going Going Gone. - Gone, but not forgotten. - Here today, gone tomorrow. - We are here, but not for long. - Now you see me, now you don’t.

Image Reference By including a photographic element and actively disguising and hiding peoples face, we create a sense of mystery and intrigue. It serves as a visual metaphor of the ‘temporary’ theme, whilst also enticing the audience into coming to the show and seeing it with their own eyes.

Going Going Gone
Developed Concept The name ‘Going Going Gone’ focuses on the temporary nature of the exhibition and puts the onus onto the audience to get to the shows before they disappear. ‘Going Going Gone’ is a phrase often used by baseball commentators when describing a home run, as the ball approaches and clears the outfield wall. It articulates the journey and build up towards the big achievement, which is much like the situation we are currently in with graduation rapidly approaching. It brings with it connotations of success and ambition, as does the emerging talent emanating from Leeds College of Art.

Poster Tower
Poster Tower
The campaign scatters throughout Leeds and is situated on hexagonal poster towers. The design stands out amongst the rest of the noise from the other posters due to it bold use of colour.
The fold out posters that are being sent out around schools contain a little more information than the rest of the adverts and posters but it still doesn’t really interfere with the whole concept and message put across from the campaign.
Magazine Adverts Similar to the poster towers the adverts really stand out amongst the other adverts making it clear and easy to read and attracting attention from people just flicking through.
