I’m Trendy So What?
‘I’m Trendy So What’ is a publication and social experiemnt that acts as a practical synthesis to a large body of research and critical writing conducted by myself into the subject of trends and their subsequent impact on professionalism within the graphic design industry.

The Publication
I’m Trendy So What?
Whilst the main body of research was a critical evaluation of trends, the publication is an introduction to the platforms Trend List and Trend Generator from the point of the creators and not the critics. This is so that users of this publications views aren’t swayed straight off by the critics but instead form an understanding from the information and build their own opinions through the experiment.

I’m Trendy So What?
This part of the project is to investigate if an app for £1.49 can infact create ‘Graphic Design’ through passing off design created on the app trend generator as my own, and conducting a series of critiques with different levels of designers and analysing the feedback.
The aim is to investigate if the graphic design industry is merely focused on style, and whether or not the app enables users to become instant graphic designers with no knowledge or expertise in the industry yet still generate convincing work.

D&AD_ XL Records Speech Made Visible
D&AD_ XL Records
Speech made visible is an exploration into the visual representation of dialogue and how far visual language can be pushed without losing its integrity and meaning. The poster is comprised of a series of angled lines that each represent a letter of the alphabet, starting from an upright 90 degree angle each line is then rotated -6.92 degrees to create the next letter and so forth.
When the angled lines are deciphered they spell out Tyler the Creator’s best new artist speech, when undeciphered, the angled lines resemble donut sprinkles that are closely associated with him and Odd Future

Through stripping rail travel back to it’s core, it has become apparent nobody focuses on the basics; speed, comfort and cost. They focus on one specific feature and push for that. Operating as an intercity train operator, Enkeltrak commits itself to functionality and simplicity as the integral values that keep the wheels in motion.

By addressing all three of the basics; comfort, speed & cost in moderation, Enkeltrak fills a much needed gap in the market for a functional, honest train operator. Enkeltrak doesn’t claim to get you from A-B the fastest, the comfiest or the cheapest. Enkeltrak focuses on enhancing the passengers experience, creating a stress/hassle free journey.

Enkeloff Enkelon The Enkel System
Being an intercity train operator means Enkeltrak connects major cities, passing through intermediate stations and stopping at the much larger platforms.
The train has an ‘off’ stop that allows passengers to depart the train without an oncoming group of people pushing and squeezing past to gain access.
What this enables them to do is run a system that makes accessing and departing carriages a whole lot simpler and stress free, they call it the ‘Enkel System’.
The train then crawls 20 metres up the platform to allow access to boarding passengers. This is proven to cause less stress and aggravation resulting in a much pleasant start and finish to a journey.

Enkel Passenger Charter
24% of morning peak trains are over capacity and in total 60% had passengers standing.
Enkel knows that people like to get work done on trains, however only a small minority gain access to table seating.
Jeff commutes to London every singleday for work making him one of 545,000 passengers that travels into London via rail every morning.
To utilise space in the carriages, Enkel eradicate table seating, freeing up space for an extra 8 people seating per carriage. This might not sound a lot, but it sure makes a difference.
This large number of commuters results in over crowded train journeys meaning Jeff is often one of the 120,000 that make the journey standing.
