Vendor 30 is a typeface created using a grid influenced by an interview conducted with a Big Issue vendor. Shapes were assigned to key words to symbolise the Big Issue on a much more personal level, these were then used to construct the grid.

30° features heavily as the main characteristic of the typeface throughout. The concept derives from the indentification of the interviewed vendor and the typeface name.
Both uppercase and lowercase incorporate the 30° feature in different ways. In uppercase the 30° is applied to crossbars, spines and tails. Whereas with lowercase the 30° is used to cut the end points on ascenders and descenders.

The grid is comprised of a circle within a larger circle that represents the protection Big Issue offers vendors. These circles are then set on a grid of squares that symbolise the network, structure and foundation that is provided.
