hull independent cinema Hull Independent Cinema is a local charity, run by a small team of volunteers, bringing great film to new audiences as we work towards our long-term goal of a new venue for independent, world and art cinema in Hull. 2017 was a really important and exciting year for HIC. We were the main delivery partner for the Transformative Film Culture for Hull programme. This was managed by Film Hub North, part of the BFI’s Film Audience Network led by Showroom Workstation, and supported by the BFI with funding from the National Lottery. Although 2017 is now behind us, we’re still delivering BFI-supported projects during this first season of 2018, such as our screening of throught-provoking documentary Brexitannia in partnership with Sheffield DocFest. Lots of work is being done to evaluate the impact of last year and we’ll be keen to use
those lessons to inform our future plans. In the meantime we’ll carry on bringing you our core programme of great new independent and world film, alongside offerings from our friends Cult Cinema Sunday and WeWatchFilms, and regular partners such as Yorkshire Silents. By coming to one of our films you’re not just getting a great night of entertainment, you’re also supporting our long-term plans to create a new independent cinema in Hull. We’re always keen to hear what you think - if you have any ideas or questions please let us know. Thank you for your continued support.
