SINCE 2019, WE’VE PROVIDED MORE THAN 100,000 THERAPY SESSIONS TO YOUNG KIWIS. YOUR SUPPORT KEEPS OUR YOUTH IN CONVERSATION.
we all have access and opportunities to get outdoors, but what’s stopping us? Over the past two months, we’ve had to re-plan and reschedule several trips due to extreme weather. Our most recent trip to Whakatāne was cancelled due to flash floods, and before that, work commitments and sickness got in the way. While these setbacks can be frustrating, they make the successful trips even more memorable. It’s all part of the journey, building anticipation like kids waiting for Christmas. So hang tight for the series with Okuma, Orson, and Hunting & Fishing NZ –it’ll be worth the wait!
The team at Orson & Okuma believes that every Kiwi should have the opportunity to hunt, fish, explore, and enjoy the outdoors. Whether it sparks an infectious, lifelong passion or simply creates a greater appreciation for nature, the experience is always valuable and enjoyable.
In New Zealand, it’s almost a crime not to give the outdoors a try. We live in an outdoor paradise! A third of our country is public land, we face very few restrictions on what we can and can’t do, we have more boats per capita than any other country (1 boat for every 3.5 people), and we have endless opportunities for land-based fishing.
So how do we get more people involved in the outdoors? By providing opportunities. Each of us has a unique story of how we were first introduced to outdoor activities, and we all have different reasons that keep us coming back. This summer, it’s time to reach out to a wider audience and pay it forward—introduce someone new to the outdoors. As challenging as it might seem to take a beginner out, you often get as much joy from the experience as they do. Helping someone unlock a passion or appreciation they hadn’t found elsewhere is well worth the extra effort, whether it’s baiting a few more hooks or accidentally spooking a deer or two.
We all see the struggles young people face today, and it’s concerning. Getting kids outdoors is a vital part of their upbringing in New Zealand. It’s more than just a hobby; it’s a way to nurture their mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing. So, invite your friends, family, or even your friends’ kids who haven’t had the chance to experience the outdoors—and we look forward to seeing you out there!
Stay tuned and follow @Okuma_NZ, @OrsonOutdoors, and @HuntingandFishingNZ for updates on the journey.

good, better, best
Every item in this catalogue has been through a selection process where quality and value for money are carefully scrutinised. These products can be categorised as ‘GOOD, better or best’ in their various fields.
GOOD - So, you can trust us that at the very least all catalogue gear will be ‘good’. This especially applies to lower priced items and deals where the excellent value for money could actually re-classify them as ‘VERY good’.
BETTER - From ‘good’ the upgrade to ‘better’ may mean a higher-grade rod on a proven reel, an up spec’d reel on a popular rod, or a step up in the quality and function of both. Pricing and detail will provide a key to evaluating this. That said, we’ve gone a step further this summer by featuring our PRO-PICKS where appropriate members of our store staff share their own knowledge and advice on the higher quality gear that they use themselves. Look for the icon and check out more detail below.
BEST - We’ve highlighted examples of the absolute top tier tackle – look for the PREMIUM PICK logo. We get that an angler at the top of his or her game will prefer to pick and choose their own combinations of rod and reel. So we’ve got you sorted and outlined how in the PREMIUM PICK explanation below.
pro pick
OK, so there’s a type of fishing you love, and you’re prepared to upgrade to better gear in order to enjoy it even more. Here’s where our pro-staff come in as they’re as passionate about the equipment they recommend as they are about the fish they catch – well almost! When they gather for a conference or share a boat trip out on the briny, the conversation will be staunch about the technical detail and the performance of certain rods and reels, and they certainly know their stuff. We wanted you to benefit from this professional tackle analysis as the choices these days can otherwise be quite mind blowing. Some of our more experienced team (store owners, staff, or brand ambassadors) have contributed the low-down on what makes a certain combo worth its price tag and how you the angler will benefit.
premium pick
You’re accomplished, at the top of your game and you want the extra performance that comes through fishing with the best. The ‘one combo fits most’ thinking is not appropriate to those wanting to customise tackle to suit a particular style, location, or species. Our expert staff share your passion and are well qualified to work with you to put together the ultimate match-up of rod and reel. A major point of difference at Hunting & Fishing New Zealand is that our team are regularly out there doing it themselves, fishing in the same location or for the species you intend to target, and rest assured they like nothing better than to pass on that knowledge and experience to increase your own success. To help achieve this we’ve empowered our stores and staff to work with you individually on the models of rod and reels identified as PREMIUM PICKS to customise the ultimate options. This applies right through to pricing and our pledge here is to see you right with a deal that more than stacks up with anything else out there.

HUNTING & FISHING NZ, rotorua
Every few years rod ranges get superseded and replaced as new designs, technologies and rod blanks become available and updated. The new range of Brazen rods replaces the ever reliable Raider range of rods. The new range of Brazen rods covers a wide spectrum of fishing applications from light spin fishing for trout, straylining rods targeting snapper for both baitrunner and overhead reels like the charter special and TLD 15. J-Braid expedition x8
I got my hands on some of the new Daiwa Expedition Braid in 15lb to try out, and I’ve got to say, I was blown away. It casts like a dream, and for such a thin braid, the strength is incredible. The thin diameter means you barely get any wind or water resistance, which is a huge bonus when
The braid’s made in Japan with 8 braided carriers and is available in Multi colour (indicators every 10m), so super handy when you're targeting fish at different depths. Overall, I’ve had a great experience with this braid and would definitely recommend it.

Focus Range

Dunbar HUNTING & FISHING NZ, Dunedin
The Jarvis Walker Focus rod and reel range is designed to offer a versatile range to suit both freshwater and light saltwater fishing. Suitable for kids or the beginner angler just starting out.
Both the 662 and 6-foot telescopic are great for kids starting out fishing around the local dams and rivers. My son and I took the 662 to the local Fish & Game ‘Take a Kid Fishing’ day held at a local dam. Oliver is 7 and was easily able to cast a range of lures and soft baits to target the stocked rainbow trout in the dam.
The Focus range also includes an 802 and an 8-foot telescopic rod for more of a general purpose set up. Great for beginners who want to head to the river mouths and estuaries chasing the Kahawai schools. For those that would like to cast a bit further there is also a 10-foot

e are very lucky in New Zealand to have exceptional game fishing throughout the summer months, all around our vast coastline. But it has become evident that we have some awesome winter options as well, with the realisation that bluefin tuna are swimming our shoreline and well within reach of recreational fishermen, right throughout our colder months. This is proving especially so off the east coast of the North Island where hot spots like Waihau bay and East Cape are seeing intrepid anglers congregating en masse to target these prized gamefish.
The Night Jigging Advantage
The Importance of Finding Bait
A successful fishing trip often hinges on finding the right bait. Utilizing a high-quality sounder is essential for locating schools of baitfish, which bluefin tuna follow. These fish are opportunistic feeders, so understanding their feeding habits and knowing where to find bait can significantly increase your chances of a catch.
Investing time in scouting for bait paired with a good sounder can help you identify productive areas. Look for signs of life in the water, such as birds diving or surface disturbances, as these can indicate the presence of baitfish and, consequently, bluefin tuna.
One of the most effective and revolutionary techniques for catching bluefin tuna has been night jigging with mechanical jigs or centre weighted jigs. Kingfish style jigging rods and reels can be employed for this style of fishing and on this gear these powerful fish make for an exceptional fight. Bluefin Tuna are naturally active during the night, making them more likely to strike at jigs. The use of jigs, often fished near the surface among bait, allows anglers to entice these powerful predators effectively.
Schools of bait tend to become denser and are pushed nearer the surface at night. Bluefin tuna have exceptional eyesight and are aggressive feeders,
Hotspots on the East Coast
The East Coast of the North Island is dotted with numerous hotspots for bluefin tuna fishing. While Waihau Bay is particularly well-known, other areas like Gisborne, Whakatane, Tauranga, and the Coromandel also provide excellent fishing opportunities. Further north, the fishing remains productive however for a shorter period of time and not necessarily in the same concentrations. This fishery still appears to be in its infancy from a recreational fishing perspective, so hopefully over time more spots and techniques are uncovered.
Bluefin Tuna are naturally active during the night, making them more likely to strike at jigs. The use of jigs, often fished near the surface among bait, allows anglers to entice these powerful predators effectively.
Bluefin tuna fishing in New Zealand is an exhilarating experience that combines skill, strategy, and a bit of luck. Whether you prefer the thrill of night jigging or the strategic approach of daytime trolling, the opportunities are plentiful. With the right gear, a quality sounder, and knowledge of the best locations, anglers can enjoy a rewarding day on the water while pursuing one of the ocean’s most magnificent and tasty creatures.

With a 25IIA and Xitus Pro 5'6" combo priced at $1,299, these reels need to be a serious consideration when deciding to enter the game fishing market or looking to diversify your fishing options. We have found these reels to be hot property and there are lots of sizes available, so when you get the chance, pop in to a Hunting & Fishing NZ store
In my opinion, the most significant upgrade from the older models is the newly re-designed Infinity Drive drag system. This increases the amount of drag force the reel is capable of, whilst reducing side load pressure and creating a lighter rotation during heavy load situations.

FISH WISE
surfcasting is a form of fishing that’s for everyone. It’s suitable for all ages and abilities - all you need is a can-do attitude and a basic skill set and understanding of what it takes.
Coming from someone who has spent much of their life on the beach, the only thing I have to say is to always have an open mind and be willing to learn and try new techniques.
From there, a shock leader needs to be tied to the end of your mainline with either a back to back uni, or fg knot. Then attaching a dropper rig or pulley rig will see you sending baits out in no time.
When you find yourself trying to find a spot to fish, what you’re looking for is either a hole or gut as that is where you’ll find your fish hiding. A gut is formed in front or behind the sandbars on the beach - which will show
There are some key basics to consider and understand well when it comes to surfcasting. These include the tide in which best suits your area, the food source the fish you’re targeting prefer, the gear you’re using and how to load your rod correctly for both casting and sitting in the rod holder.
In terms of what it takes to get going, this is based very much on what you wish to spend. I’m someone who believes the best place to spend your money is your rod. Finding a rod you are comfortable in casting, yet one you are also able to load and cast well can make the difference between hitting the honey hole or your feet. Each and every one of us is suited to a different style of rod, if you’re new to the sport start with a rod of 13’6 or 14ft in length, as well as something with a supple tip. This will give you plenty of length to cast with and keep your rod away from the surf, as being softer in nature it will be forgiving enough as to not disappoint
Pair your rod with a long cast reel suitable to your budget and know that you must clean and maintain these well to keep them from letting you down. Spool the reel with light mono no heavier

it is. This can be attributed to the Revros’s Carbon light body and LT design
That is just the start of the perfect pairing of technology.
From my first cast I was impressed with the Aird’s fast action tip that loads with ease, sending your soft bait flying. The braid comes off the Long Cast ABS spool in tight little loops which funnel through the Fuji guides perfectly,
As soon as you feel the bait hit the bottom the Aird’s ergonomic reel seat and the Revros’s Airdrive Rotor come together to make working your soft bait
When those little knocks we all love start and you strike, Daiwa’s ATD drag system kicks into gear allowing you to set the hook smoothly without worrying about ripping the jig head out of the fish’s mouth. Then the reels Tough Digigears and mammoth 12kg of drag combined with the rods Braiding X construction take over to give you the power you need to guide fish away
The huge amount of technology packed into the Revros paired with the Aird X in either 7’6” 5-9kg or 7’10” 4-8kg makes for an awesome soft bait set that’s not going to break the bank.

DIVE SMART & COOKING YOUR CATCH
kim ellett - HUNTING & FISHING NZ, gisborne
New Zealand is a country renowned for its stunning natural beauty and its underwater world is no exception. With (mostly) clear waters, abundant marine life, and a long tradition of outdoor pursuits, free-diving and spearfishing has become an increasingly popular activity in a means to not only get out and enjoy yourself, but also feed friends and whanau. There are two aspects to freediving that I would like to thread through this article, that is sustainability and safety. Both are paramount. I personally love the thrill of spearfishing and excitement of the hunt. You are competing in their environment, so the challenge of holding your breath, trying to relax, remain stealthy and quiet, no bubbles, stalking fish etc , all add to the thrill of the chase and the satisfaction once you spear that fish. You also have the ability to be totally selective about which fish you do or don’t take, offering sound sustainability practices and preserving the resources for generations to come. It is important that where ever in the country you are , you familiarise yourself with the local catch laws and daily bag limits as these can vary for location to location. A recent change to note is that earlier this year, the regulations changed for Packhorse Lobster – now measured across the width of the tail and requirements are 84mm (male) and 90mm (female). I personally have seen considerably more Packhorses in the last year diving, so if they are more prolific, make sure you refer to the new regulations.
but importantly, I re-iterate the safety aspect. Always dive with someone, know the water and currents and I highly recommend using items like a float boat to put your catch in. This makes it easier to drag through the water, gets speared fish (and blood) out of the water so not attracting “the tax man”, is highly visible to others be that your diving buddies or boats in the area, and if you get tired, is a good floatation device.

COOKING GUIDE - PAUA
My advice in cooking Paua, is to keep it simple, my go to recipe is as follows...
1. Clean the paua (remove guts and teeth)
2. Smash (if eating immediately – overnight in the fridge also tenderises them)
3. Slice thinly
4. Cover with flour (I use a plastic container or zip lock bag. Put slices of Paua and flour in and shake it up. The flour will evenly spread over all the slices of Paua)
5. Fry on high heat with oil and butter (add garlic if you like)
Some of my favourites to catch when freediving are Paua and Crayfish. Both of these are so accessible for shore diving across a large part of NZ,
6. Cook until crispy, add salt, squeeze of lemon and I reckon this is one of the best
However or whatever you choose to catch, cook and share, after getting “out there doing it” it is good for the soul. Enjoy yourself, be safe and feed the family.

im Barnett, an avid hunter, commercial diver, and regular crew member on TVNZ’s South Seas Spearo, shared with us his deep
Throughout our conversation, Tim’s love for the ocean was unmistakable. Having travelled extensively, he’s not only a seasoned commercial diver but also a dedicated spearo with years of experience honing his skills. From diving for butterfish, pāua, and kina to his exciting adventures on South Seas Spearo, Tim’s life is deeply connected to the sea.
One of Tim’s top picks is the Beuchat Espadon wetsuit. Known for its warmth, comfort, and versatility, it’s his go-to suit for a variety of conditions. While he opts for thicker wetsuits (up to 9mm) during the colder winter months, the 5mm Espadon is his preferred choice in warmer waters, offering the right balance of insulation and unrivalled fit without unnecessary frills. Tim values quality and simplicity in his gear—preferring equipment that
Tim also shared his insights on other essential gear, such as gloves and fins. As a commercial diver, he extends the life of his gloves by layering thin gloves over his main pair, acknowledging how quickly they wear out in his line of work. For recreational spearo’s, he recommends the Sirocco Sport Protect gloves as a durable option. When it comes to fins, his advice for beginners is to invest in reliable, entry-level fins like the Mundial One-50’s. These fins are durable and serve as an excellent all-rounder for a variety of diving scenarios. And when it comes to masks, Tim is firm on one point: the fit is everything. A well-fitted mask ensures comfort and enhances the overall diving experience. In fact, Tim has been using the same mask for over 15 years, which shows how vital finding the right one can be.
Beyond discussing gear, Tim offered valuable advice for anyone starting out in free diving and spearfishing: prioritize warmth. “You lose interest quickly if you’re cold,” he explained. For Tim, a high-quality wetsuit is the
Looking ahead, Tim has his sights set on landing a larger marlin someday, and he’s looking forward to the busy summer season to come. His approach to gear and adventure highlights his core belief in simplicity, quality, and the importance of fit for maximum comfort in the water.
This season, Beuchat has put together the Shoreline Freediving Package exclusively for Hunting & Fishing customers. The package features the Espadon 3 wetsuit made from Elaskin 8.2 Neoprene with a preformed cut for optimal comfort. It also includes the Mundial One-50 fins—a versatile, mid-sized fin with a fixed blade for greater control in the water.
Visit your local Hunting & Fishing NZ store to check out the Beuchat Shoreline Freediving Package, a complete kit designed to get you ready for freediving this summer.

exceeding value
ince its inception, the Primal rod series has been growing from strength to strength. The latest addition of the new Revel CS series this year is no exception, with rods that perform well outside their price bracket. At Hunting & Fishing NZ we’ve built these new rods out into some incredible combos that offer some incredible savings.
The new Revel CS series features a new Carbon Scrim (CS) technology which is an updated reinforcement to the rods blank that reduces weight and improves feel. I found on the river that was exactly the case, the rods are incredibly light weight and you can feel everything you’re doing. Add to that I’ve found the rods to be really strong as I used them for chasing big trout in small streams where they truly got put to the test.
The other stand out feature of the new Revel CS is the very high quality

The lightweight nature of the boots will be the main feature that most anglers will look to in this boot. For me I really noticed the difference at the end of a long day when walking back to the car. he Bergara family of rifles have been making great inroads into the New Zealand Hunting scene over the last few years. This is simply down to the fact that they are incredible value for money, ultra reliable and offer a wide range of models and calibres that suit our needs. The New B14 Stoke is no different. Bergara have cleverly identified the need for a compact rifle that would suit the needs of junior or small stature shooters who require a shorter length of pull. In their own words, “providing the best fit possible, ensuring optimal performance and an unrivalled shooting experience” We can all probably remember firing the old mans gun when we were growing up and struggling to hold and balance the sight on target. However, in the box they have included extra spacers so it can be tailored to fit every shooter in the market, also allowing it to be a full-size rifle, so there is no limiting factor.
The B14 action is based on a Remington 700 style action which is known for its reliability, fast feeding and smoothness. This teamed up with a well-designed fibreglass stock and ACIS magazine, means that this rifle is fast to fire and not once did it hang up or jam on me, even when I tried quite
After two sighting shots, I was able to produce a half inch 3 shot group at 100m! This shows the quality of these factory barrels. Up into the hills we went, and after finding a decent mob we were able to stalk into under 100 meters.

Another highlight from this season was tracking down a big old stag in a high elevation alpine zone. I spent days watching him from a distance, planning every step with precision. Patience, as always, paid off, and after days of strategic hunting, I finally got my opportunity. It’s another moment

The National Wild Goat Hunting Competition
are you the g.o.a.t hunter?
by department of conservation
the 2024 National Wild Goat Hunting Competition is well underway, and it's already proving to be a season full of surprises and recordbreaking moments. With people hunting throughout New Zealand, there has been some great efforts made to help protect the environment.
Wild goats are prolific breeders, and when left unchecked can cause extensive damage to the environment. People who hunt and farm can help play a role in the management of numbers.
Doug Jacobs, a member of the Hutt Valley NZDA and a HUNTS Course graduate shares his story:
Over 10,000 wild goats were removed last year – can we beat this for 2024?
Since the competition kicked off on 1 August, 310 people have entered, and 4,074 wild goats have been removed. With longer days and warmer weather, we encourage you to keep going.
Stories from the field
When I decided to enter the National Goat Hunting Competition, I wanted access to private land to hunt on. I made a light-hearted post on the local rural community page, mentioning the DOC/NZDA Goat Competition, my NZDA membership, and the protections that come with it. I also talked about the Landowner Assist process, which helps set clear ground rules between hunters and landowners.
One of the most exciting aspects of this year’s competition is the stories that are emerging from the field. Hunters are discovering new, challenging terrain, taking time out with their families, building connections with landowners, and finding innovative ways to make the most of their harvests.
A smallholder responded, saying they had an issue with wild goats coming over from a neighbouring property. We met up, and using the Landowner Assist document, we went over everything—from where I could hunt, to what to do with the carcasses, and how we’d handle the meat.
The whole process was simple and made sure everything was covered. The landowner even said that if it wasn’t for the professional setup with my NZDA membership and the Landowner Assist program, they wouldn’t have replied to my post.
A week later, I had four goat tails under my belt, 9kg of salami on the way, and the makings of some great curries.

Doug’s story is a great example of building a positive and trusted relationship with a local landowner. We are stoked that the National Wild Goat Hunting Competition has been able to provide a platform to facilitate
We have also drawn our first major monthly spot prize winner – Ben Petersen. Congratulations Ben! Ben got to take home a $500 voucher from Huntech, and a merchandise pack from InfiRay Optics NZ. We still have 3 more monthly prizes to give away, all you need to do is enter one wild goat
As we move closer to the 26 November deadline, the competition is expected to heat up even more. The next few months will be crucial for people to get their entries in and be in to win.
There’s still plenty of time to get involved, make a difference, and potentially walk away with a share of the $70,000 in prizes.
A special thanks to our 2024 sponsors:

• Major sponsors Huntech and InfiRay NZ Optics
• Supporting sponsors Traeger Grills, Backcountry Cuisine, NZ Hunter, Te Tari Pūreke Firearms Safety Authority, Bushnell, New Zealand
Ben Reddiex, Director National Programmes at DOC says, “we’re keen to see wild goat hunting become a regular feature in the hunting calendar”.
Professional Hunting Guides Association.
The competition takes place during a quieter period in the hunting calendar, after the roar and duck shooting. So, factor in a mission to target
The current leader in the biggest head category is from Hutt Valley, and has scored an 106 Douglas Score – still short of the 2023 G.O.A.T score but very impressive none-the-less. The leader for biggest head in the junior category is a young person from Wairoa, with an impressive Douglas Score of
In the unofficial battle of the islands, the North Island has the most wild goat tails so far. Whanganui leads with 821 wild goat tails, followed by North Taranaki (444) and Te Kuiti (282). Hot tip: – if you live in the North Island there are plenty of goats near Taranaki-Maniapoto district boundary but be sure to get permission to hunt. Down South, North Otago leads with 208 wild goat

Kaimai Sleeping Bag
Scott Fraser HUNTING & FISHING NZ, waikato
The Traverse Kaimai Sleeping Bag is an affordable and reliable sleeping bag for campers looking for a good quality budget friendly sleeping bag. Priced at $99.99, this synthetic sleeping bag is designed to keep you cosy with its 0 degree comfort rating and is a great option for spring and summer camping.
The Kaimai is a mummy-style sleeping bag so it is designed to closely wrap around your body tapering from the shoulders down to the feet – like the shape of an ancient mummy! This design helps improve the thermal efficiency by reducing the air your body needs to heat. It also makes the bag more compact than a rectangular shaped bag making it

80l Dual Zone Fridge / Freezer
If you’re looking for a reliable brand in camping then you can’t go past OzTrail. They have released a new model of their 80 litre Dual Zone Fridge/Freezer. It runs on an LG compressor and electronics with 3 stage battery protection. It has Bluetooth capability and connects to an app for easy monitoring. Available with a 3 year warranty, the case is made of steel with stainless screws and 55mm insulated walls to create a great looking modern product. I put it through its paces, plugging it into the mains 240V. Within 15 minutes it was down to the temperature that I had set, +3 deg on both boxes. Then I ran a test in 12V the next day with the fridges starting at +15 internal temp. It only took 25 minutes with the compressor on max setting to reach the +3 deg I had set. The next test was to bring it down to a freezer temperature of -16 deg. It took 18 min, with an average amp hour of 2.5 amps/24hrs. Total power input is 80W. It has an internal LED light and weighs 29kg empty, with an overall external size of 455H x960W x 557H mm. It comes with the cables for 240V and 12V and an Anderson plug for solar. I ran this from an Ecoflow Delta and in total it only used 25% of its full battery. My suggestion is to fill the compartments with your food for the trip and bring down the temperature using mains at home, then plug into your car for the trip. This OzTrail fridge/ freezer retails for $949.99 and is a winner when it comes to a reliable camping product.
Daintree 57L wheeled cooler
I recently had the chance to test the Coleman Daintree 57L Wheeled Cooler when camping over an extended weekend. The 57-litre capacity is a very practical size and was perfect for storing everything we needed to keep cool for the weekend.
I really appreciated the heavy duty wheels and telescopic handle when the cooler was fully loaded with food, drink and ice making it very easy to transport and manoeuvre.
Equally well thought out was the rust-proof leak-resistant drain plug which made it very easy to drain water without having to turn the cooler upside down. Coleman have reinforced the lid making it perfect to double as a seat!
For anyone looking for a cooler that’s both durable and easy to move around, the Coleman Daintree 57L is a great choice. Priced at $199.99, this ice box offers ample space to keep your food and drinks cold for days, making it perfect for long camping trips, beach days, and backyard barbecues.

The Mummy shaped bag still offered great foot space and being 6’4 it still had the length for comfort. The 3degree comfort rating down to -11 extreme rating certainly gave me the warmth in the -2 conditions up in the high country.

The standout for me was once the tent was aerodynamically set up in the direction of the oncoming wind, it was one of the most solid little tents I’ve been in. The extra space inside made for a comfortable night without half the tent folding in from wind gusts.
Ascent Pro Sleeping Bags
Warm and spacious, the Ascent Pro sleeping bags have a generous wide fit with space to wear extra, bulkier layers inside if the temperature suddenly drops, ensuring a comfortable night’s sleep for the weary mountain explorer. With a Pertex® Quantum Pro wind and water-resistant outer and hydrophobic duck down, they cope well with wind, condensation, and damp conditions, ideal for wild campers and adventure backpackers. Built with trapezoid shaped, boxwall baffles that stack neatly together, the down inside is encouraged to fully loft, maximising insulation, and reducing the appearance of cold spots. Hand-filled in the UK, all our down bags benefit from never having had their down compressed before use, maintaining the down’s loft and warmth.

We offer convenient ways to shop...
1. In Store: We have 39 independently owned retail stores covering every area of New Zealand. Each is owned and staffed by outdoors enthusiasts and they bristle with the latest and greatest in tackle, shooting gear, outdoor clothing and much more.
2. Online: www.huntingandfishing.co.nz
Our website shop enables customers to purchase most catalogue items from the comfort of their own home. To support this you’ll also find a downloadable version of our current catalogue online.
Our Selection Explained - Terms and Conditions
The products listed in this catalogue represent what is on order at the time of printing and what we plan to have collectively available through Hunting & Fishing New Zealand® stores nationwide with reserve supplies available from our importers where possible. We have ordered what we believe will be sufficient stock to last us 2 months from the date of publication. Specials and close-out deals however are limited by stock availability. Hunting & Fishing New Zealand® will not be responsible for lack of stock through supplier problems. We strive to print correct colours and images but cannot guarantee that they will always be a 100% correct representation of the products advertised. The climatic and geographic diversity of New Zealand makes stocking everything in each store impractical, however each store does carry as full a range as is practical and financially possible. If you want something from this catalogue and it’s not available at your local store, then we will leave no stone unturned getting it from our extensive store network with the goal of delivering it to you within 3-5 working days. During sales and special closeouts etc, we may not be able to supply your first choice, but you can be assured that we will always suggest the closest alternative.
Pricing Policy - Trading Terms and Conditions
We pride ourselves on our buying power and if you ever see an item advertised for less elsewhere, then give us the chance to match or beat it, because our printed prices can go out of date. As always, we reserve the right to correct prices up or down if our costs change or if there is a misprint in this catalogue. Note too that while our advertised prices are current at the time of printing, the fluctuating dollar may make changes necessary this season. All savings indicated are off full retail price. Special pricing in this publication ends 31 January 2025 or earlier if stock at special catalogue pricing runs out. Other conditions may apply.
Finance options
We offer a variety of payment and finance options in our stores.
To get approved for finance we can do the regular checks in-store, although, a convenient service we recommend is to get your pre-approval online before you even go shopping.
Then simply walk into your favourite Hunting & Fishing New Zealand store and select items within your shopping credit limit, process your pre-approval authority, then get “Out There Doing It”. Lending criteria, fees, terms and conditions apply and may vary between finance companies.
