Even though it’s been hard, this period of prolonged isolation and uncertainty has given us a new perspective on life. The things we may have taken for granted previously, are now all the more important - perhaps this is one of the few ‘silver linings’ of storm Covid.”

We are finally getting back to normality - well, the new kind of it anyway. With actual live events, holidays and even family get togethers back on the cards, things are looking good for the future...
W
e haven’t had a ‘What’s On’ section in the magazine for a while - mainly since there have not been any live events for months and months. But now, finally, we are moving away from the lockdowns, and looking forward to getting back out and about. In Shropshire, we are incredibly lucky to have so many great places to visit, right on our doorstep. We have the Ski Centre, Ice Rink, Theatre, Cinema, Hoo Farm (with Dinosaurs!), the Exotic Zoo, Severn Valley Railway, The Quarry, Long Mynd, Attingham Park, Local Nature Reserves, Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre and the world heritage site of Ironbridge - and that’s just a few of them! The Shropshire County Agricultural Show returns on 17th July, which will be fabulous.

Our towns are also beginning to get back into the swing of things, with some brilliant High Street shops, selling everything you could need, from fresh baked bread to handmade bath bombs - and everything inbetween. We also have the return of eating and drinking out. I did really miss going for a nice meal, and a cheeky cocktail or two. It is really great to have so much to look forward to once more, spending time with friends and family, and some bigger events to enjoy. There is now an opportunity to start to make the most of what our lovely local area has to offer. Let’s make the most of every day!

Get ready to be blown away as the Telford Balloon Fiesta is set to return to Telford Town Park this August Bank Holiday weekend 2021. Last year’s ‘secret balloon event’ cheered the residents of Telford and Wrekin up with balloons launching from an undisclosed location. As part of its plans for recovery, Telford & Wrekin Council very much hope that Telford’s Balloon Fiesta will be part of a summer festival weekend spanning the August Bank Holiday from 27 to 30 August, where, weather permitting, there will be several opportunities to see balloons take off over the weekend. The event, like many other regional events will be subject to government guidelines at the time.

Auentic Itian La Lanterna, Shrewsbury
A little taste of Italy...
On a warm summers evening, my wife Ashleigh and I decided to go for some food in Shrewsbury Town centre, we were really looking forward to returning to La Lanterna after months of restrictions, it was a real treat to be eating inside a restaurant. On our previous visits the standards were very high, and the décor had not changed inside; still a very authentic Italian restaurant based at The Old Vestry. When we entered we were equally as impressed as the last time we visited, with the amazing memorabilia and the soft music in the background which helped create a perfect setting for the evening. We were seated and the restaurant was filling up very quickly. The restaurant can seat 33 people and also has a terrific dining booth for those special occasions. We were handed the drinks menu, which had so much choice and was very tempting, but with our new son waiting for us at home we decide to stick to the soft

drink option of a diet coke and some water for the table. We were brought out some fresh bread and breadsticks as we looked through the menu. For starters I went for the Funghetti All'aglo – Italian style garlic mushrooms. Ashleigh chose the Bruschetta Al Pomodoro - Two pieces of toasted garlic bread topped with chopped tomato, basil and red onion. By this point the restaurant was completely full with people still trying to get a table. In a blink of an eye our starters arrived and they were both terrific. Mine was full of flavour, the mushrooms were cooked perfectly and with the creamy sauce it was a perfect combination - a dish bursting with flavour. Ashleigh was equally impressed once again all the fresh ingredients combined were fabulous and this was the perfect

that always makes me want more. Ashleigh really enjoyed her cheesecake and found it not too heavy, and very flavoursome, ending the evening perfectly for her.
start to the evening for us both. We were really excited for our main courses to arrive after having such good starters. The menu boasts a range of dishes and there is something for everyone, which is all part of a really authentic Italian experience. Ashleigh went for the Agnello alla Forestiera - Lamb steak topped with garlic, rosemary, onions and bacon. Served with vegetables and potatoes and I went for the Mailing Al Porcini - Pork escalopes with Sicilian aromatic wine and continental mushroom sauce. Ashleigh’s main course was nothing sort of sensational – perfectly cooked Lamb which melted in her mouth, this was easily one of the best main courses she has had in any of the restaurants we have visited in the past, and with the vegetables and potatoes the dish was truly amazing. For my main course I was unsure what to expect - as pork isn’t a meat I generally choose, but it may be my number one choice from now on after being served this dish. The pork was cooked perfectly and the portion sizes were very generous, the Sicilian aromatic wine and continental mushroom sauce worked really well, every bite made me want more, and I would definitely have it again. Although we were full, as we all know there will always be room for Dessert. The range of desserts on offer is impressive and in truth it’s very difficult to choose just one. I decided to go for one of favourite all time puddings – Tiramisu. Ashleigh went for the Chocolate and salted cameral cheesecake. My Tiramisu; a Homemade Italian sponge cake with Mascarpone, coffee and brandy, for me was absolutely amazing, the textures and flavours were fantastic, it is a dessert
Overall the experience at La Lanterna was truly remarkable, and the service was fantastic. Everything at this restaurant works, and it’s no coincidence that it is rated one of the best restaurants in Shrewsbury and beyond. The restaurant offers a lunch time menu and are fully licenced. The team deserves all the praise they receive doing their upmost to cater for all of your needs and nothing is too much trouble. The food is sensational, and we cannot wait to return. Booking is highly recommended to avoid disappointment – Grazie!

Free Family Events bring colour and creativity to the streets

Shrewsbury’s Open Summer Events is a program of free outdoor activities for young children and families. From colourful mask making to a vibrant Bangra performance and procession, a range of events will take place in and around Shrewsbury town centre in the coming summer months. Commissioned by Shrewsbury BID as part of the Shrewsbury's Open campaign and hosted by local arts charity The Hive, these free outdoor activities for children and families will showcase the talents of local artists and the wider West Midlands whilst celebrating creativity on our cobbled streets. The Fetch Theatre company opened the program with their outdoor performance ‘Insect Safari’ in the grounds of St Alkmunds Church on Saturday 26th June. St Alkmunds Church will play host to more culture and music on Saturday 3rd July with a Yakshagana performance and workshop by SAMPAD, a Birmingham based South Asian Arts and Heritage charity. Followed by a dance and music procession through the town SAMPAD will wrap up the day’s celebrations at The Hive, 5 Belmont where they will repeat their workshop and performance encouraging anyone who wants to try learning a few Bangra moves.
Saturday 24th July delighting with songs and stories inspired by animals. These free sessions are suitable for ages 3+ and will take place throughout the day. The animal theme continues with local artists Jamila Thomas and Emily Wilkinson on Saturday 31st July as they deliver fun filled mask making workshops in the Market Square for ages 6 years and over.
The sound of Jembe Drums bring a West African rhythm to the Market Square on Saturday 7th August. Local musicians Jonathan Bannister and Josh Arrowsmith will deliver a lively drumming workshop suitable for 7 years +. No previous experience is necessary just a willingness to have a go! These free events can be attended by children and families alike. Booking is not required, just turn up and enjoy spending time in Shrewsbury town centre once more. Cerin Mills, CEO of the local arts charity explains how collaboration has been at the heart of these summer events. ‘The town offers stunning spaces for performance and other imaginative activities. Shrewsbury BID commissioned The Hive to deliver a range of engaging creative events as part of their ‘Shrewsbury’s Open’ summer campaign. We are incredibly proud to offer free events for families in this challenging landscape. It will be wonderful to spend time in our town centre and celebrate culture and creativity this summer.’ Emma Molyneux, of Shrewsbury BID, added: "We are delighted to be working with The Hive to really bring the town centre to life over the summer months. Rea Brook Local Nature Reserve, Mousefield Nature Reserve, Radbrook Nature Reserve, Shropshire Wildlife Trust, Hereford Road Nature Reserve, Earl's Hill Nature Reserve and Stiperstones National Nature Reserve, to name just a few. That is enough to keep you going all through the summer!

The Quarry is a firm favourite with locals, and vistors alike. It was recently voted one of the best parks in the UK by Tripadvisor users, who commented on it’s beauty and tranquility. Another amazing place to visit is Hawkstone Park Follies, which is only about 25 minutes drive from Shrewsbury and boasts beautiful landscapes, caves and stunning views. Look to the stars... The dark night skies above the Shropshire Hills make it a fabulous location for stargazers. It is actually designated by Dark Sky Discovery Partnership as a Milky Way Class rated site, meaning that the skies are dark enough to see the Milky Way with the naked eye. Seeing the Milky Way is a magical experience. You don’t need special equipment, as you can see lots with the naked eye, but binoculars or a telescope can bring a new dimensions to the stargazing experience. Don’t forget to take some photos too!

Scotch Beef, lentil and beetroot burgers
INGREDIENTS
• 400g Scotch Beef PGI mince • 1 finely diced onion • 1 can of cooked green lentils, drained • 2 raw or pickled beetroot, grated • 1 tbsp sundried tomato paste • 1 egg, beaten • 200g baby spinach leaves • 4 brioche buns • Salt and pepper, pinch • 100g pickled gherkins, sliced • 2 tomatoes, sliced
(tip: if you can’t find sundried tomato paste try mixing 1tsp of smoked paprika with 1tbsp tomato paste)
• 1 red onion, sliced • Rapeseed oil METHOD
1. Mix the grated beetroot, onion, beef mince, tomato paste and lentils in a bowl, season and mix well. 2. Add the beaten egg and mix again. 3. Divide into four even sized balls then shape into patties (tip: these can be made ahead then stored in the fridge!) 4. To cook on the BBQ, brush each burger lightly with rapeseed oil and lay onto the preheated grill 5. Don’t be tempted to move them for 3-4 minutes. The burgers will stick and tear if you do. 6. Nudge them with the tongs gently and if they move they are ready to turn 7. Flip over and cook for a further 3-4 minutes 8. Serve in brioche buns with sliced tomato, red onion, gherkins and baby spinach

INGREDIENTS Skewers
• 4 x 227g Scotch Beef PGI sirloin steaks, fat trimmed and cut into 1 inch cubes • 2 red onions, cut into 1 inch pieces • 2 red peppers, cut into 1 inch pieces • 2 tbsp rapeseed oil • 1 tbsp smoked paprika • 2 garlic cloves, grated to a paste • 20ml lemon juice • Salt and pepper, pinch METHOD
1. Soak 8 wooden skewers in water to avoid burning on the grill 2. Mix the steak, onions and peppers in a bowl with rapeseed oil, garlic, smoked paprika and lemon juice 3. Season with salt and pepper, marinate for 30 minutes 4. Thread a cube of meat onto each skewer, then onion and then red pepper. Repeat to fill the skewer. Repeat to make 8 skewers. 5. Drizzle the chickpeas and kale with oil, season with salt and pepper then roast in 180˚c oven for 6 minutes until crisp 6. Cook the broccoli in boiling salted water for 2 minutes then remove and place in cold water 7. Mix all the salad ingredients in a bowl and drizzle with rapeseed oil Ingredients for the Salad... 300g broccoli, cut into small florets, 200g kale, stems removed and ripped, 1 can of chickpea, drained, 1tbsp rapeseed oil, 200g precooked quinoa, 50g mixed seeds (eg sunflower, pumpkin), 30g pomegranate seeds, 15g fresh parsley, chopped, 150g baby spinach leaves, washed and dried.
8. Place each skewer on a hot BBQ for 8 minutes, turning halfway 9. Remove and cover with foil to rest for 10-15 minutes before serving with the salad

Hloumi Salad...
Scotch Lamb Steak and Halloumi Salad
INGREDIENTS
• 4 x 150g Scotch Lamb PGI leg steaks • 1tbsp rapeseed oil • Salt and pepper, pinch • 225g reduced fat halloumi, cut into ½ cm slices plus 1tbsp rapeseed oil for cooking • 100g rocket • 100g baby spinach leaves • 1 red onion, thinly sliced • 100g peas, thawed • 30g pomegranate seeds • 15 fresh mint, chopped • 100g low fat plain yogurt • 20ml lemon juice METHOD
1. Place the lamb steaks in a bowl, drizzle with oil and season 2. Cook the lamb on a hot BBQ for 8 minutes, turning halfway through cooking 3. Remove from heat and cover with foil, rest for 10 mins 4. Drizzle the sliced halloumi with oil and season 5. Cook on the BBQ for 4-5 minutes, turning halfway 6. To make the salad dressing, mix the yogurt and lemon juice in a bowl and season 7. Mix the rocket, spinach, red onion and peas in a bowl 8.
Add the halloumi and dressing, mix well 9. Serve the salad topped with slices of lamb steak and sprinkled with fresh mint and pomegranate seeds

THE INGREDIENTS
If you need a dessert that is quick and easy to make this summer then look no further! Our delicious No Bake Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is a family favourite that will go down a treat even with the adults. No Bake Cookie Dough is a great alternative over warm baked Cookies in the hot weather. Served with ice cream or alone they are truly addictive!
100g butter at room temperature 175g brown sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract 2 tbsp milk (full fat)
145g plain heat treated flour 1 cup of chocolate chips
How to store:
To properly store cookie dough, you should use an airtight container and keep it the refrigerator or frozen; you should only leave cookie dough out on display for 2-3 hours.

Below are some more ideas for decorating your cookie dough although we think they are just perfect on their own! Don’t stop there; the possibilities are endless when it comes to Cookie Dough. Follow these tips to jazz things up a little...
For the kids why not add some food colouring or sprinkles; served alongside some ice cream and you are now officially their new favourite person EVER! If you have enough time on your hands you could even mould it into some quirky cute shapes. If you are baking for adults the addition of peanut butter to your Cookie Dough could be a huge hit, or even a splash of rum! Cookie Dough on lolly pop sticks is a thing! If you are hosting a party you can really get creative with these tasty no bake treats.
Ready in just 7-10 minutes!
Method... Start by prepping a bowl, mixer or whisk and clean surface... Mix and fold the butter and sugar together in a bowl, preferably using a mixer if you have one available. Then measure out and add the vanilla extract, ½ tablespoon of salt and 145g of heat treated flour, adding this to the mix until it begins to form a crumbly texture. As you add the milk ensure to continually mix your cookie dough mixture until it starts to form dough like consistency. Once you are happy with your mixture add 1 cup of chocolate chips and fold into the cookie dough. Now that you have your cookie dough roll them into bite size balls or you could use a ice cream scoop if you wanted; the possibilities are endless Cookie Dough!

Nerdy pastimes like stamp collecting, bird watching and trainspotting are now deemed as cool, as six in ten GEN Z brits have taken up an old-fashioned hobby… A nationwide study has found as many as 60 percent of Brits aged 16 to 29 have taken up a traditional hobby in the last year, with 58 percent claiming that doing so has helped them feel grounded. One in ten youngsters have started making their own jams and preserves, ten percent have got into origami - and eight percent are turning back the clocks by brewing beer from home.
Growing your own veg (33 percent), knitting (20 percent) flower arranging (11 percent) are also seeing a resurgence in popularity, as well as upcycling furniture (seven percent), and even fishing (seven percent), and one in twenty (five percent) Brits has even taken up philately - the art of collecting stamps. Winemaking (seven percent), hiking (12 percent), jewellery making (7 percent), and collecting vinyl (6 percent) have all also made a comeback, according to the data. The study by Create and Craft, also found that 60 percent of the nation agree there’s been a surge of interest in old fashioned hobbies, with 59 percent claiming these activities are a great way to relax and unwind at home. In fact, 37 percent of the 1,500 Brits polled say it’s become COOL to have an old-fashioned hobby, while almost a third (32 percent) even describe having a traditional hobby as HIPSTER. According to the data, the young are leading the way, with the perfect age to get into a traditional hobby found to be 24. Almost three quarters (72 percent) of the under thirties polled said they’d rather spend a weekday evening doing their favourite hobby than on a zoom call with friends. Traditional ideas about which gender should do which hobby no longer apply, as 45 percent claim that hobbies seen as ‘female’ - such as knitting, jam making, or sewing are now popular for men too. The study also found that 54 percent of Britons say home hobbies offer a welcome retreat away from screens and technology, while half (50 percent) say they are a great distraction to life’s everyday stresses.

The Celebrity Juice host added “Don’t get me wrong I love having a day of doing nowt, but I like the feeling that I’ve done something productive and made something.” 55 percent of Brits polled said they’ve taken up a traditional hobby because they’ve realised there’s more to life than screens, while 31 percent cite the rise of social media trends like “cottage core” - an internet-based fashion and lifestyle aesthetic which idealises country living - as a major contributing factor.

IS A DREAM COME TRUE! My name is Edward Scott and from a young age I’ve always loved exotic animals. I have owned frogs since the age of nine and always dreamed of owning a pet shop, and that’s exactly what I’ve done. At 18 years old I’m the owner of Edzotics, which is a recently opened exotic pet shop here in Telford. This means I’m one of the youngest pet shop owners in the country - if not the youngest. The shop is located in the Oakengates shopping mall, on the high street. We have a range of animals from reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates as well as a large variety of live food and supplies to keep your reptile happy. All livestock in store is available to purchase and we have many animal specific set-ups ready to go. If you are looking for something that isn’t in store and it can be sourced from my suppliers, then it will be in the shop as soon as possible for you to collect.
Edzotics only opened just before Christmas, after finally being licensed to sell animals. The shop had a great first few days and then the lockdown came again. I was allowed to stay open as an essential supplier to provide people with their pet food and supplies, but footfall dropped massively so business was slow at times. Now the high streets are busy again, people can come and look for their ideal pet to keep them company at home. For me the care of the animals is the most important thing at Edzotics, and all the set-ups on display are most favourable for your pet’s wellbeing. The more natural and realistic the set-up looks, the happier and healthier the animal will be. The thing I want to do to make Edzotics different is to be able to engage with customers at any time of the day, to ensure their questions are answered and that the customer is happy with their new pet.

Social Fatigue & Navigating The Return of
'Norm Le' Have you been feeling particularly drained, emotionally and physically over the last few months (try the year!)? Lost your mojo, focus and productivity? Getting irritated by nothing and everything, swinging from fairly content and quite callous and before you know it, bored out of your mind?
Have you heard of social fatigue? It’s something commonly described by introverts when we reach the limit of socialising. Although not everyone will identify nor usually class themselves as an introvert, you might still be feeling the effects of social fatigue - and might well be thinking “how am I socially fatigued - we’ve not seen anyone for a year?!” and that is quite possibly exactly why many of us are. Firstly, we’ve not seen friends and family much this year. We’ve faced the challenges that life and the pandemic have thrown at us without our support networks which means our minds have had a little (possibly a lot) more turmoil to cope with than usual and on our own, depleting our resources.
Secondly, we’ve not had much in-person or face-to-face interaction with anyone at all. No pubs, shops, gyms, salons, baby groups, the list goes on, to see another face in real life, to work out around other people, to smile and nod at strangers. This means that when we are seeing people as restrictions ease, our resources for socialising are depleting quicker than usual because we’ve adjusted to a quiet, solitary life around restrictions.
Thirdly, we’re worrying about the return to more relaxed lockdown rules, on top of this, because it’s more change to wrap our heads around. And on top of that, we are now having more faceto-face interaction and seeing more people while worrying about doing all these
things - which is causing us to over-fill our ‘social cups’, leading to us feeling fried by 7pm after a Saturday afternoon garden party that, previously, we’d still be boogying at till the small hours of the morning!
Now if this sounds familiar (pandemic-caused or not) here are three tips for easing back into normality without feeling exhausted by the prospect, never mind the actual doing!
1. Take your time - if you’re one of the many not sprinting back to the pub, not desperately phoning your hairdresser trying to squeeze an appointment it, not raring to get back to shopping centres - that’s cool. If you are, enjoy the freedom (but within guidelines). It doesn’t really matter what everyone else is doing as long as you are comfortable and content with your pace, try to let go of FOMO (fear of missing out) because there’ll be other events, meetups, bottomless brunches to get to when you feel more ready - and can sit through them in peace and joy, rather than discomfort and a longing to be back on your sofa with a cuppa.
2. Hold your boundaries - be firm with yourself and others around your boundaries, some of us may be more than happy to go for a picnic in the park but not quite ready for the bustle of the beer garden. It can be challenging to do, it might annoy a few people but you’ve spent the last year dealing with a pandemic so go easy on yourself, join friends when you want and politely decline, rearrange or suggest a more suitable option you’ll all enjoy and feel comfortable with. Don’t just go because someone said “it’ll be great” or “you’ll be fine once you get there” - you might, they’re probably not wrong but we don’t need to push ourselves for anyone else.
3. Make it your normal - we’re worried by the return to normality because we’re not really sure what it entails nor how to navigate it when we do. So make it your own, take back some control for yourself. If that means staying at home more often, or starting a new outdoor hobby for the summer, do what makes you happy and take care of your wellbeing first.

So, what can we expect the easing of lockdown to do to our sleep?
Firstly, we might feel a lot more exhausted but more wired as we get out and about more. The emotional exhaustion from being out and about more, from doing more physically and adjusting to more social contact. This might mean our body is not quite ready for bed, our mind is racing and even if we do fall asleep, sustaining that sleep through the night might be more difficult. If this is the case, and even if we feel exhausted, we need to make sure we are winding down before sleep.

Due to the pandemic, more and more organisations are open to more flexible work patterns as they have seen how this approach has not impacted on productivity during lockdown. If you are an employer, consider the benefits of allowing your employees to have a work pattern that matches their body’s natural rhythm. Wherever we sit on the sleep type continuum, we can have a work routine that works for us.
Take the hour before sleep time and focus on activities that help us feel relaxed and cooler. A warm bath or shower for the latter, and maybe swapping watching the news or a crime drama, for your favourite comedy series or something trashy. Only go to bed when you are sleepy, sleepy is that feeling when our eyes are drooping and our head starts to nod. If we go to bed and don’t fall asleep within 30 minutes, reset your mind, start again and maybe try listening to something like a spoken word book or a meditation app.
Vivid dreams have been a hallmark of the pandemic and they often worsen when things change, either lockdown’s starting or easing. These dreams are a sign of our brain’s dealing with the stress caused by the COVID crisis as during sleep, the REM stage of sleep acts as an overnight counselling session, where we work through the stresses and strains of the day. So as the changes happen we may experience more dreams but as we get used to more freedom and things opening up they should, hopefully subside.
For some of us, lockdown has actually improved our sleep, particularly if we were more likely to be a bit of a night owl, going to bed later and getting up later. No commute, and more flexible working patterns have allowed owls to have a sleep routine that works for them and they may be dreading the return to work and

One in three people in the UK has high blood pressure (hypertension), however many people are unaware of it as there are usually no symptoms. High blood pressure increases your risk of having a heart attack or stroke. The only way to know if your blood pressure is high is to have it measured. We explain what blood pressure is and provide some tips for keeping your blood pressure healthy. What is high blood pressure?
When blood pressure is measured, two numbers are generated. An ideal blood pressure is below 120/80 millimetres of mercury (mmHg). The first number is the systolic blood pressure (higher number), which is the force at which blood is being pumped around your body. Ideally, this will be below 120. A systolic blood pressure of 140 or more is regarded as high. The second number is the diastolic blood pressure (lower number) which is the pressure when your heart is at rest, in between beats. Ideally this will be 80 or lower. A diastolic reading of 90 or above is regarded as high. The lower your blood pressure, the lower your risk of having a heart attack or stroke. Get your blood pressure checked
The only way to know if your blood pressure is high is to have it checked. Blood pressure checks are quick and easy, and it could be lifesaving. Adults aged 40 years or over should aim to have their blood pressure checked at least every five years. You can ask your GP to check your blood pressure, or you may be able to have your blood pressure checked with your local pharmacy. You could also consider investing in a home blood pressure monitor.

What can I do to maintain a healthy blood pressure?
• Maintain a healthy weight by eating a healthy diet and getting plenty of physical activity. • Reduce the amount of salt in your diet to no more than 6g a day (1 teaspoon). Look at the amount of salt on food labels and avoid choosing snacks that are high in salt. • Eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables every day. • Keep your alcohol consumption within the recommended limits of no more than 14 units a week, spread over three or more days. • Aim to do 150 minutes of moderate activity (e.g. brisk walking) or 75 minutes of vigorous activity (e.g. running) each week plus some strengthening activities (e.g. lifting weights) at least twice a week. • Get a good night’s sleep. Just watch out for how hyaluronic acid is produced. In some cases, it can come from animal origin which I’d say for people to avoid. It began with the smoke signal. A column of dark smoke beyond the trees bordering my extensive domain. "I wonder what that is?" I thought. Surely not a smokey exhaust. It's possibly the spontaneous combustion of some alternative energy source. Or could it be a pipeful of O'SHAUGHNESSY'S RICH DARK IRISH MIXTURE? Or maybe a millionaire with a conscience burning all his money before adopting sackcloth and evangelical environmentalism. I wasn't kept in suspense for long. Trudging towards me with all the inevitability of a wet day in Wigan was a striking figure of a man. This is a car review not a short story by Tolstoy so I'll not dwell on descriptive details except to say that he was very tall and in matters of girth, almost as wide. He still retained a vestigial Mohican haircut, although it was now greyish compared with the strident cerise of his heyday. He wore a downcast expression. I knew him from old. This was none other than BILLY TALL PINES, former all-in wrestler of repute, now all in: six feet four inches of pure flab and pinkcheeked breathlessness. I greeted him cheerily. "Hello Squire! Could that smoke signal be connected with your arrival here?" "Too right mate" he gasped, pausing after his efforts in order to collect his breath. "My Sinclair C5 has gone up in smoke. Lesser vehicles would have tipped sideways under the weight but the Range Rover Sport is made of sterling stuff as befits a highly specified and accommodating motoring icon. It would take more than the likes of Billy to topple it from its perch. In a jiffy we were strapped in and relishing an interior which poets have described as 'the bee's knees' in luxury. Simply put, the Range Rover Sport delivers motoring in the grand manner. It represents the culmination of a trailblazing career of 4WD 'go anywhere' success offering every adjunct to off-road ability you could name. My model had the outstanding 350bhp 6 cylinder diesel engine ably assisted by a 48 volt mild hybrid system to drive through an 8 speed auto transmission - all capable of giving over 31mpg. Drive
gently and you will even see 40mpg! It's a combination that wonderfully juggles the sometimes contradictory imperatives of grunt, economy and eco-mindfulness. It is a clean, potent and satisfying answer to twenty first century first class motoring. Not only impressive looking, it insists on cosseting occupants in superb comfort. The phrase 'Elegant spaciousness wrapped up in engineering excellence and stylistic accomplishment ' although weighty enough, somehow is insufficient to do it justice. Perhaps a romantic soul perched high on a picturesque peak, where encircling sky stretches imperiously over the ground far below - maybe only such a one could ever possess an inkling of the sublime experience to be savoured within. Reports on the increase of cyber fraud and online deceptions have become more frequent since the start of the Covid pandemic. Hatti Suvari, consumer advocate, law expert and Get Legally Speaking podcast host has been drawing attention to this since the first indication these activities were on the rise. As we become more reliant on banks due to the decline in cash usage, banks ought to have a greater responsibility in safeguarding their customers against fraud. Increasing knowledgeable about consumer rights can help put pressure on banks to do the right thing by their users. Financial crime is always rife, but the pandemic has triggered an epidemic of cyber fraud. In its many different forms, from cold calls, text messages to email, there are evermore opportunities to be tricked into giving away personal information. Hatti has three general rules when it comes to scams:
• STOP! – think to consider if this is genuine or if there is any reason you should have doubt • CHALLENGE! – cross-check the
information through other means. Use a search engine to find the number for the organisation in question and ask them if the communication to you is genuine. • PROTECT! – Protect yourself by phoning your bank ASAP. If you are a small business, take pre-emptive protection and get insurance.
If money has been stolen from an account as a result of replying or acting on a message which turns out to be a scam, there are several things you can do.
• Contact your bank – they have fraud teams operating 24 hours a day. If you log the transaction with your bank as a fraudulent payment, the transfer can be blocked and prevented. • Even if you made the payment a couple of days ago, it isn’t the end of the battle. If it has moved from your account to another, your bank can still contact the other bank provider and communicate that it has been reported as fraud. They can then lock it down and freeze the account. Meaning there’s still a chance you could be reimbursed. • Take a hard line with your bank. Although they private organisations, they are obliged by law to help you, albeit to a certain extent. The introduction of the Contingent Reimbursement Model Code, which most banks have opted-in for, means that if you are victim of fraud, banks are likely to have to reimburse you.

“I am delighted to have been appointed to this joint role leading the ICS and the CCG here in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin,” said Mark.
Respected Chief Executive Mark Brandreth has been appointed to lead the development of integrated health services in Shropshire Telford & Wrekin (STW). The experienced leader has come through a “rigorous and competitive” recruitment process to be named Interim Accountable Officer for the STW Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). Alongside that post, he will continue as Executive Lead for the STW Integrated Care System (ICS). He will take up the joint role on Monday 2 August, at which point he will step down as Chief Executive of The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH) – a role he has held for the last five years. Mark has built a solid reputation for his work at RJAH – taking a Trust that was in breach of its licence with its regulator when he took over and rated ‘Requires Improvement’ by the Care Quality Commission to one which is now rated ‘Good’ overall and ‘Outstanding’ for care. The Trust has also consistently received excellent feedback via the NHS Staff Survey and Adult Inpatient Survey during this period which is amongst the very best in the NHS.

Frank Collins, Chair of RJAH, said: “I must also offer my congratulations to Mark, who deserves this opportunity. “He has been at RJAH for over five years now, and, as we all know, has made a huge impact in that time - both at RJAH and, more recently, in the development of our ICS. His new role is a natural extension of that work. Recruitment of a successor begins immediately, and I am happy to appoint Stacey Keegan in the interim as acting CEO. It will be the second time that Stacey has assumed this position, having led the organisation in the early months of the coronavirus pandemic last year while Mark took up a national position to help shape the NHS response. She did a terrific job then and I am delighted that she has agreed to take on the acting CEO role again. I know that we are in safe hands.”
