MESSAGE FOR THE AMRESORTS FAMILY

MESSAGE FOR THE

AMRESORTS FAMILY W

e live in times of transformation and evolution. After a year of great lessons, we have learned that we are stronger than challenges and that we will continue to advance to build 2021 full of satisfaction, dynamism, and growth.

Undoubtedly, the great differentiator of AMResorts to date has been its human capital, our employees, who through a warm and professional service, have helped to build this history. Let's continue using this formula to meet and exceed the expectations of our guests and owners.

Together we have got through adverse moments, demonstrating our solidarity (We Do It Together). In the same way, we will be working for new hotel openings and destinations for this new year, in order to continue generating endless memorable experiences.

I am proud to lead and be part of such a committed, professional, and passionate team, but above all “great human beings”. Let's continue working together to achieve and exceed the objectives that we set ourselves. Thank you very much to all!

T0GETHER WE HAVE GOT THROUGH ADVERSE

WE WILL MANAGE THREE NEW HOTELS IN TENERIFE The fund plans to refurbish these assets according to the demands of brand Alua Hotels & Resorts estimated at 20 million euros. British investment fund Blantyre Capital acquired 3 hotels in Tenerife (Canary Islands) from local hotel chain Gema Hoteles for an undisclosed amount. The company also reached an agreement with the Apple Leisure Group (ALG) to start operating these hotels.

"AMResorts was pioneer in the model 'Unlimited Luxury' in the Caribean and is currently positioned as the fastest growing hotel chain in this region. We are certain that the strength of our brands, added to the competitive advantage offered by our business model, will continue to serve as the boosting engine for our global expansion", said Javier Coll, Group President of Global Business Development of Apple Leisure Group.

Specifically, two of the properties are in the north of the island and the other in the south, adding a total of 1,224 rooms to ALG's European portfolio, which plans to operate these three new hotels under the Alua Hotels & Resorts brand starting this year. This operation represents the arrival of Alua to Tenerife.

AMR NEWS

WE WILL MANAGE 16 ROC HOTELS IN SPAIN ROC WILL RETAIN OWNERSHIP OF ALL ITS ASSETS AND WILL FOCUS ITS MANAGEMENT ON THE CARIBBEAN ZONE The Apple Leisure Group has entered into a long-term agreement with Roc Hotels for the management of 16 hotels in Spain. The establishments, which will remain the property of Roc Hotels, are located in Mallorca, Menorca, Torremolinos, Marbella, Roquetas de Mar and La Manga del Mar Menor, with a total of 4,200 rooms, according to the American company. The agreement provides for the arrival of AMResorts (ALG's hotel brand manager, which already operates in the Canary and Balearic Islands) in the Iberian Peninsula.

"We are very pleased to have reached an agreement with the Miralles family. In collaboration with real estate, these establishments have the potential to become a reference in our portfolio. Besides, this operation allows us to penetrate the peninsula with strength and relevant destinations, which has been an objective we have been pursuing for some time, and to strengthen our leading position in the Balearic Islands", said Javier Águila, President of Europe Division of Apple Leisure Group.

THINK, ACT & WORK SAFE

Think, Act &

Work Safe By Rubén Caraballo Standards and Innovation Manager D.R.

INDICATORS IN OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY

"What is not measured, is not controlled, and what is not controlled, cannot be improved", said Peter Drucker. If what you do is not measured, so it cannot be controlled and if it cannot be controlled, it cannot be managed, and if it cannot be managed, it cannot be improved.

The aforementioned is extremely important in an Occupational Health and Safety Management System since it is about preventing accidents, taking care of people's lives, and maintaining the integrity of the infrastructure. This information is used to plan preventive actions in our hotels.

21 15

In an Occupational Health and Safety Management System, as well as in a Quality Management System, it is important to define the Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), and manage them properly, since progress and improvement depend on them.

THINK, ACT & WORK SAFE

Some companies have limited themselves to the “zero accidents” goal, which is not bad; however, it limits the possibility to improve their effectiveness. In addition to the “zero accidents” goal, there are several performances and monitoring indicators that we can apply in our hotels, such as: Man-hours of training in Occupational Health and Safety. Number of employees trained in OHS. Hours without accidents. Accidents rate. Percentage of compliance with planned/achieved activities. Percentage of compliance in OHS audits. Number of accidents reported. Number of incidents reported. Percentage of attendance in the monthly meetings of the OHS committee. Safety prevention costs. Average time to prepare the response plan.

Some of these or similar indicators are applied in your hotel. The task for this edition is: 1. Verify how you can contribute to achieving the applicable goal in each case in your hotel. 2. Propose improvement ideas to measure the performance of the OHS in your hotel.

You can share your comments at rcaraballo@amresorts.com.

GETTING TO KNOW JOHN ISCHE

GETTING TO KNOW

JohnIsche Could you share with us an experience that marked your personal and professional life? When I was 13 years old I started caddying at a country club in Milwaukee. I caddied and worked at the country club all the way through college. I was able to caddy for many business executives and observe how they conducted themselves. Caddying taught me self-awareness, confidence, problem solving and communication. I was able to earn a scholarship because of caddying to the University of Wisconsin where graduated with a degree in Computer Science and Statistics. Through golf I’ve met my wife, made lifelong friends and have met some incredible people.

Describe yourself in 3 virtues… Caring, thoughtful, and respectful.

What are you most proud of? Professionally I’m most proud of the team we IT team we have developed. The professionalism and technology knowledge of our team is high, and we work together as a team.

What is your purpose in life? Making people better. What did you do before arriving at ALG? I joined ALG in 2018 as part of the merger with Mark Travel. I was Chief Information Officer and President of Trisept Solutions with La Macchia Enterprises.

What is your greatest achievement in your professional career? Because of the success of the technology platform we developed at Mark Travel, we were able to start a technology company, Trisept Solutions, to provide leisure travel solutions to leading travel companies across the globe.

What do you think will be your added value for the company? My unique ability is to analyze complex problems to develop creative and innovative solutions through collaboration.

23

GETTING TO KNOW JOHN ISCHE

MAKING PEOPLE BETTER

How do you see yourself in 5 years? Developing travel business solutions through technology. What virtues make a good leader different? Good leaders provide a vision of what to accomplish, set clear expectations and are engaged with their team. What are you learning right now? I am trying to learn Spanish. I'm improving, but only when you speak very slowly.

24

What should a leader not have? A closed mind. Leaders need to be open minded to differing opinions and having their viewpoint challenged. Leaders need to be continually learning and curious. Do you consider yourself a good leader? I’m always working to be better. To be a good leader you need to be continually be leading.

GETTING TO KNOW JOHN ISCHE

What quote would you give us? “Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated” – Confucius. What is your life philosophy? Keep learning and sharing.

LETS GET SOCIAL

Lets get

SOCIAL WHAT HAPPENED WITH SOCIAL DURING Social media has changed our lives; from the way we get our news any time of the day to the way we communicate with our loved ones… even in the way we perform our jobs! Social media is everywhere! And during the year 2020, it was almost impossible to avoid using at least one of the many existent channels. Did this happen to you too? There was a huge increase in the use of social media and digital platforms during the confinement to avoid Covid-19 spread. The increase was easily observed in many aspects; like the time that we spend in front of a screen (big or small), and the way that people who did not care about social before started adopting these platforms. Some of the reasons for this increase were: the need to be communicated with one another, to avoid the loneliness feeling, to get products and services with minimum human contact, working from home, and even education. Little did we know that 2020 would be a year like that. Look at these facts: Wow, right! Stop for a second and ask yourself these questions: 1. Which was the social network that you used the most in 2020? And why did you used it for? 2. Did you adopt a platform that you had never used before? If so, which was it and how did you end up using it? Share this with colleagues, friends, or family, I am sure it will be a good conversation topic! 29 23

HOST CITY

HOST CITY

Akumal

Land of the Turtles in the Riviera Maya

one protected shallow bay with a secluded beach and a nearby reef.

Akumal is a small town between Playa del Carmen and Tulum on the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. In the heart of the Riviera Maya just 37 km from Playa del Carmen and just one hour south of Cancun, Akumal is one of the best places to visit in the Mexican Caribbean for its great variety of beautiful beaches and tourist services.

One of its greatest attractions is that it is very close to one of the largest reefs in the world, in addition to the fact that in its surroundings you can find more than 200 entrances to caves and underground rivers for divers.

Akumal in the Mayan language means "Land of the Turtles" and it is still one of the favorite places for these marine animals to spawn. However, what makes Akumal charming and fascinating for tourists from all over the world, is its spectacular bay with clear waters and underground rivers. Akumal is one of the most peaceful places in the Riviera Maya:

Other activities usually practiced in Akumal are sport fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, windsurfing, kayaking, exploring cenotes, biking, and hiking through the jungle. For these reasons, we are proud to introduce Akumal as our host city.

WELLNESS

Wellness

2021 For so many, 2020 has posed some of the greatest challenges of our lifetime. Turning the calendar page to 2021 is a time to remind yourself to take good care of YOU in the New Year.

MEANINGFUL WAYS TO MAKE 2021 A MORE BALANCED YEAR FOR YOU AND OTHER PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE

Self-care means doing activities throughout your day, during work and home responsibilities, in order to achieve calm and emotional balance. The simple act of watching our breath throughout the day and noting how we feel can alert us to times and opportunities for taking care of ourselves.

• Practice self-compassion. Many people are good at showing compassion to others, especially during the pandemic, but not as good at being compassionate to themselves. Self-compassion gives us space to breathe and take the time to take care of ourselves in a healing and kind way.

• Pick a few simple, easy goals. This is something that helps when the drudge of Zoom calls, being isolated at home and missing family and close friends gets you down. If you’re feeling stuck at home, accomplish a few activities you wouldn't normally have time for like reorganizing a closet, purging old emails, or planning a new exercise regimen.

• Take care of your basic needs. When we are tired, hungry, and/or sedentary, our mood can dip. Prioritize sleep by going to bed earlier and getting 7-9 hours of sleep a night; Eat consistent balanced meals and walk outdoors for 20 minutes three times a week.

• Take an early morning walk. Spend each day on an early morning walk listening to Podcasts, your favorite music or learning a new language.

• Be present. If you find yourself reliving the past or worrying about the future, try to bring yourself back to the present moment using your senses. Notice five things that you see, four things that you feel, three things that you hear, two things that you smell, and one thing that you tasteand then proceed with your day.

• Maintain a daily plan that puts you first. Take the time to put yourself and your own needs first. Are you adding some fun to your life? Are you staying connected to those who are important to you? By creating a space for yourself, it will make it easier to continue to support others.

• Watch your breathing. So often we think of self-care as activities we do after work or home responsibilities to compensate for daily stressors.

• Write a letter. Write to someone who has been meaningful in your life and tell them why you're thankful for their contribution and/or call them 56

mental health. Focus on what went well, no matter how small, and build on those successes!

up and read the letter. A study showed that people who did this felt a significant increase in happiness, meaning, optimism, and life satisfaction for up to 3 months after reading the letter. • Take an on-line yoga class. Yoga increases body awareness, relieves stress, reduces muscle tension, strain, and inflammation, sharpens attention and concentration, and calms and centers the nervous system.

• Reflect and think about “What I’m Leaving in 2020”. Write a letter to yourself listing all of the accomplishments, lessons, and things you are most grateful for in 2020. This is a wonderful way to give yourself perspective and make the year feel complete. It’s also a good time to begin charting how you may or may not do things differently in 2021.

• Be gentle with yourself. If something feels stressful, consider its purpose. Is it necessary or simply expected? If you didn't do it, what would be the worst outcome? At the end of each day, ask yourself what felt productive, what felt meaningful, and what contributed to your

• Practice Forgiveness. Letting go of past hurt and anger is key to good psychological well-being. Forgiveness is about releasing these emotions that are holding you back and moving into a greater state of well-being.
