We are so fortunate to have some amazing tall windows in many of our homes. They let so much light and energy into the home and allow the space to feel fresh and happy. They let us enjoy the outside from the air-conditioned comfort of the room. There is, however, the issue of privacy or blocking some of the sun’s harsh rays to protect the floors and furniture. And that’s where IBB can help! For many years now, the trend has been to do simple panels on the sides of windows. If the divides are wide, you may choose to cover those as well. The best analogy I have heard is the panels are like earrings around your face. They offer color and texture and complement the beautiful windows. They let the windows be the star of the show, just as earrings complement your outfit but let your facial features prevail. Depending on the architectural features of your room, I like to place the rod just beneath the crown molding. This keeps the eye going up, accentuates the height of the ceiling, and makes the windows and the room feel grand. Placing the rod lower keeps your eyes and focus down. It is impossible to buy the correct length and width of panels off the rack. IBB offers thousands of fabric and trim selections. We also have a fantastic selection of rods and finials from various vendors. The process is quite easy to get the look, color, and scale that you need. You may have been putting the windows off for a while and focusing on furniture, but you will be amazed how addressing

the windows warms and completes your room. We offer complete turn-key solutions including the fabric, labor, lining, hardware, and installation for custom draperies.

CUE THE

Color & Comfort! Photography by Dan Piassick

When it comes to designing outdoor living spaces, we have two main rules:

1. Beige is boring! 2. Comfort is key! Take a cue from nature to inspire your outdoor palette or extend your interior color scheme into your outdoor spaces. Outdoor living areas often serve as an extension of our home. To create flow from the interiors to your exteriors, tie your color palettes together. You can opt to pull one color from inside your home or continue with the entire scheme. If you love color, you may choose to punch those hues up a bit in your backyard for brighter contrast with your natural elements and landscaping. We love adding a pop of orange to an aqua or blue palette. Sunny yellow paired with black and white is always fun! There are so many beautiful colors in nature to pull from to create a palette. You can also use your favorite resort to help give you color and style inspiration.

look fabulous but feel fabulous, too! You will most likely be spending many hours on the weekends and evenings sitting in these spaces, so comfort should be a top priority. A designer can help you work through those decisions and recommend comfortable furnishings and fabrics that will also perform in the Texas summer heat.* *All outdoor furnishings and décor available at IBB Design Fine Furnishings in Frisco.

Many backyards are segmented into different areas. You may have a cabana or area for lounging, an outdoor kitchen and dining space, and a need for seating near the pool. When designing your layout, think about how you will utilize each space and what will be most comfortable for your family. Do you want the chairs to swivel to offer the opportunity to enjoy multiple views of the yard or change direction depending on TV viewing or conversation? Make sure you allow ample space to maneuver around your furnishings to be able to easily transition from one area to another. It's important that your outdoor furnishings not only

architectural details is another way to enhance a room. One of my ‘go to’ accessories would be stacks of cocktail table books. Try and collect those that inspire and reflect your interests. If the spines’ colors flow with your color palette, even better! Books are also a wonderful way to form variations in height in creating that visual triangle when arranging accessories. Be sure to display meaningful items in unique and unexpected ways to add that added touch of interest. Symmetry can give the sense of relaxation and helps to fashion a finished feeling.

Your Home ACCESSORIZING & PERSONALIZING

BY SHANNON GIDNEY, IBB DESIGNER & SALES MANAGER shannon@ibbdesign.com @designershannongidneyibb on Instagram Photography by Audrie Dollins

Hoping for that finished look in your home? Do you yearn for a meaningful, comfortable, inviting feel? Take a look around and see how you might improve on personalizing through your accessorizing. I believe a home is a personal sanctuary and is a reflection of its owners, and your guests can sense this the second they walk through the front door. Lighting is a big one for me, as it creates such an ambiance. Unique lamps, statement chandeliers, and even task lighting go a long way in customizing a space. I have always said lighting is the jewelry of the home. Interjecting life into your space with fresh flowers or botanicals (real or faux) is another way to liven up any room. Playing to the senses, candles are a great addition as well. Painting accent walls or unique

A great piece of art can really change the entire mood of a room. Seek out those pieces that speak to you! Bear in mind, art can be tucked into bookshelves, collaged on a wall, or could even be a large, overscaled piece that really commands attention in a space. I also love the idea of watercolor portraits of one’s past homes to help keep those memories alive. You truly can use your art, rugs, and accessories to carry a color palette throughout a room while personalizing it. Nothing screams personalizing more than monogramming. Whether you add that special touch to your linens, pillows, or even a throw, it adds another layer of personalization. Don’t be afraid to play with the colors of the threads that complement your space and the sizing of the design. Have fun with it! You might even consider engraving a special family recipe on a cutting board for a fun kitchen piece. Last but not least are pillows and trays. One cannot have enough of these, for pillows really enrich your pieces and change a whole look! It is even okay to have extra sets tucked away so that you can mix things up as the seasons turn or when you just feel like freshening a room. Trays are a great way to add interest while compartmentalizing items and creating a sense of unity. Ultimately, I say to fill your space with things you love and inspire you. Our home is where we should feel most at peace and enjoy gathering with family and friends. Those extra little added touches are what make a house a home.

of warmth they bring to a space. White oak wood flooring is another top trend, which can really brighten up a room that was previously decked in darker wood shades. 2. Quartz is King Countertops are the most common splurge for kitchen renovations in 2022, followed closely by appliances. Quartz remains king for kitchen countertops as a more practical and durable alternative to marble while delivering a similar look with several color options. 3. Walk-in Pantries / Prep Kitchens Decades ago, the kitchen was hidden in the back of the house. It was a place where meals were prepared, and dirty dishes were washed. Fast forward to today, and the kitchen has a much different role; it is the heart of the home and a space that brings everyone together at the start of the day or after a long day away.

KITCHEN

TRENDS BY HUNTINGTON REMODELING HuntingtonRemodeling.com/Contact Photography Courtesy of Huntington Remodeling

Although the kitchen has undergone a ma jor evolution over the years in terms of its design and functionality, it remains the heart of the home and at the top of homeowners’ remodeling wish lists. Get inspired to refresh your kitchen with some of the trending ideas below. 1. Earthy Tones & Textures Natural wood cabinets continue to be a popular choice for both kitchens and baths for the element

28 IBB AT HOME

Experts predict the prep kitchen is on its way to replacing the conventional pantry as homeowners desire extensive functionality in their kitchens without the clutter or mess. The addition of a prep kitchen allows for the openness and beauty in the main kitchen, while providing extra workspaces and storage areas that are out of sight to house larger countertop appliances and coffeemakers. When tight on space, another idea is to incorporate an ‘appliance garage’ into the cabinetry design to hide/store smaller appliances and reduce countertop clutter. 4. Out with All-White All-white kitchens seem to have run their course as homeowners are seeking to spice up their everyday spaces. Stark white spaces, though clean and pristine, tend to feel cold and are more difficult to maintain. Trending earthy tones add a subtle warmth and pair nicely with natural wood cabinets and floors to create an overall cozy, inviting vibe that will make guests feel right at home.

for an aesthetic that is chic, sleek, and seamless. If you prefer more contrast with your backsplash, glazed square/rectangle tiles with a slick finish and iridescent glow are taking kitchens (and bathrooms) by storm. 8. Seamless storage solutions When it comes to storage space, the more the merrier. With the popularity of open spaces and natural light galore, sufficient storage space that is conveniently located can be harder to come by. Kitchen designers have an opportunity to get creative with solutions like custom walk-in pantries and islands with built-in storage. Whether you’re considering a kitchen refresh, a new outdoor living space, or a complete home remodel, Huntington Remodeling is the company you can trust to deliver the highest quality results that your family can enjoy for years to come. When you work with Huntington, you have a dedicated project team to guide you through the remodeling process and develop custom renovation plans thoughtfully designed to meet your specific needs, goals and design preferences. Together, Huntington and IBB make the dream team with turnkey remodeling solutions and a commitment to utmost client satisfaction.

5. Smart Technology & Appliances Homeowners are seeking ways to ease and simplify life, and, as a result, are more willing to splurge on technologically advanced and integrated appliances that can save time and effort for daily tasks. 6. Curve Appeal The curve appeal is real and a great way to add character to a home. We’re seeing this trend show up in rounded islands, arched windows and doorways, and other curved design elements that elicit an overall organic feel. 7. Bountiful Backsplash A top kitchen trend of the moment is using slab for the backsplash material and carrying it up to the ceiling

STEPS TO A Fabulous FRONT PORCH!

Frame your front door with some stylish decorative planters. If you have access to water, install a drip line to use live plants in your planters. If you don’t have access to water or don’t want to maintain live plants, there are many high-quality UV rated permanent botanicals you can use. Select a boxwood topiary or juniper to give height. Add flowers for a pop of color. Lemon or lime trees

30 IBB AT HOME

can also add height, color, and life to your front porch. When using multiple planters on your porch, it’s okay for them to be different, but just make sure they work together in the overall design. In this design, we paired a blue ceramic pot with the lemon tree by the bench. The blue pot ties in with the blue pillow on the bench.

2

A rug always makes a porch feel more welcoming! Whether it’s something simple with your family name or a patterned colorful design, it offers more than just a place to wipe your feet. It brings style to your home’s front elevation.

3

Having a bench on your front porch can come in very handy. It can serve as a place to set packages and other deliveries or can simply offer a comfy spot to sit and watch your kids play in the yard. Add some decorative pillows for a pop of pattern and color.

4

A mirror or other object can be used to add a decorative element to a large blank wall on a covered porch. Make sure to keep scale in mind when choosing something.

Home Office TRANQUIL

BY CAROL ANN DENNIS, IBB DESIGNER carolann@ibbdesign.com Photography by Dan Piassick

With the busy hustle and bustle of today’s demanding world, if you work from home, you might have a strong desire for your workspace to be as peaceful as possible. In creating this home office, I chose a color palette of ocean blue paired with neutrals, which definitely adds an element of calm and sophistication to the room. It allows my mind to imagine an escape to the beach, listening to the waves of the ocean. So tranquil and soothing! The large artwork above the credenza supports our palette and offers a fresh vibe.

Organization is a key element for a home office design. The white credenza adorned with statement hardware provides storage for the room. The deep navy desk has antique gold finishes on the drawer pulls and trim paired with acrylic legs for a modern flair. Wing chairs add color and a spot for family or

guests to sit. A traditional hand-knitted rug grounds the room with pattern and color. The bar cart can be used for beverages or to organize additional office supplies and necessities. With a design like this, your mind will be at ease to ensure clarity for a productive day!

MARKET TRENDS

1

I am excited to share with you the hottest trends from the Spring 2022 High Point Market with the latest in furnishings and home décor!

2

CURVED SEATING! From traditional to modern and maximalist to minimalist, curves are coming! This is a trend I have already been playing with and see doing very well in our market. With the wide-open spaces that we have to play with here, why should you have to use a plain rectangle sofa or sectional? If it’s going to float in the middle of a room, why not make it interesting? And not only do these pieces add some fun and uniqueness to a space, but they are also great for encouraging conversation instead of just building a room around a television. Many of our lines had different approaches to this awesome “sculptural” approach to lounging, and I can’t wait to see how they continue to grow and develop this concept.

POP ART REIMAGINED. I always say “art is a very personal thing and should trigger an emotion,” so if the art is a little unusual, that will make it even more interesting. Several of our art lines feature pieces that are more about impact and reactions than what you get out of a an abstract or simple landscape. Lots of color, bold graphics, and wild concepts were key this go 'round.

MID CENTURY MODERN. I feel like every Market I attend, I have to acknowledge mid-century modern trends, and if you are sick of hearing about it, you should really start embracing it! These looks are expected from some of the designer brands, but several traditional designers are also embracing these sexy profiles that we all love so much. I am thrilled to report that everybody has scaled their product up to fit full-grown humans of this century! Bring on the natural wood accents, button tufts, bouclés, and flame stitches: Mid-century is here to stay. SWEET MOTIFS. As we are starting to see a reemergence of maximalism, we are also seeing a lot more softness in style and aesthetics, like lots of feminine details in florals, skirted furniture, smaller scale accent pieces, and whimsy galore.

5

COFFEE, COFFEE, COFFEE!!! This was not just us designers chanting every morning at the Nespresso; this was a trend we saw all across High Point Market! Whether you take your coffee black, add a little cream, or prefer a caramel macchiato, these tones were featured in every showroom vignette. Warm rich shades of coffee that add depth and interest in a very timeless way are a trend’ that will work with any style and most color palettes. This is also one that I think (and hope) is here to stay!

DESIGNER TIPS

HOW TO INCORPORATE

Trends IN YOUR SPACE BY MEGHAN SEBREN, IBB VISUAL MERCHANDISER

meghan@ibbdesign.com | @meghansebren on Instagram

Deciding what style you like can be challenging, especially when it involves spending money on pieces that are meant to last. What if your taste or needs change? The key is breaking it down to the pieces you need and the pieces you want. Here are some ideas that can help you feel good about going with the trend flow. •

• • •

Invest in good quality pieces like your sofa, tables, and rug so your accents and accessories have a good base to work with. Trust your gut! It may be in style, but if you don’t like it now, you won’t like it later. Incorporate trends in less permanent ways through accessories, paint, and art. Use bold trends in smaller spaces such as powder

36 IBB AT HOME

rooms, laundry rooms, or even in a guest room. Invest in basics you can swap seasonally such as good pillow inserts that allow you to change the covers and different weight throws you can change for lighter ones as the weather gets warmer. New trends come and go, but not all have staying power. If you are unsure, give the trend a little bit to see if it sticks and if it really speaks to you when you are ready to implement it.

Not every fashion trend looks good on everyone, so apply that to your home and taste. It just might not work for you and how you live. Most of all, don’t feel the pressure to adapt to the latest trend. You live in the space, so it ultimately needs to be functional and reflect your style.

DESIGNING A

POOL BAR BY SHAY GEYER, IBB OWNER & DESIGNER shay@ibbdesign.com @designershay on Instagram Photography by Dan Piassick We used a bright, bold, and happy lemon tree patterned wallpaper as our jumping off point for this pool bar. The room features a pass-through window to the backyard, so it was important that the colors flowed well with the exterior palette. White cabinetry and a solid bright sky-blue valance complement the design and allow the wallpaper to be the star of the show. A green and blue embroidered trim tape adds a nice finishing detail to the

valance. Malachite and polished nickel cabinet hardware are like jewelry in the space. An original abstract painting framed in white with a large white matte complements the palette and gives a modern edge to the traditional wallpaper. The bold and happy design is the perfect recipe for pool time fun!

FAMILY-FRIENDLY

Outdoor Living If you are a resident of Texas, then being outdoors is a must. During the spring, summer, and fall months, we Texans spend a lot of time outdoors with family and friends, and having family-friendly living areas can provide a variety of uses and benefits when we are barbequing, entertaining, or simply relaxing.

Some of the newer homes today are being built with either an attached outdoor extension to the home or as a separate structure that will accommodate so much more than just a couple of chairs used while the burgers cook! Whether you are fortunate enough to already have a special place

40 IBB AT HOME

BY KAREN HOLLOWAY, IBB DESIGNER karen@ibbdesign.com

outdoors or need to create one, there are many benefits to preparing a space that will bring family and friends together. When arranging your outdoor space, make sure there are a variety of areas for people to gather. Lounge chairs in a grouping of four with a center ottoman make a great, relaxing conversation area. An outdoor sofa can accommodate that cherished Saturday afternoon nap, while an outdoor dining table can provide the obvious dining experience, food prep, and serving area. Don’t forget those after dinner Monopoly games or a jigsaw puzzle as you watch the moon come up. After furniture selections are made, be sure to add the accessories for the finished effect. If your area doesn’t have the adequate setting to have live plants or if that’s not your interest, then consider investing in the new permanent outdoor plants that will add beauty to your space both from the inside view and the outside for years to come – AND – no maintenance! What a deal! Visit IBB to see the variety of furniture and accessory options to make your outdoor living area perfect for you and your family!

Glamorous GREETING

BY WILL SMITH, IBB DESIGNER will@ibbdesign.com @willtsmith on Instagram Rendering by Daniel M. Chavez

A trend I am noticing lately is special lighting. Chandeliers as jewelry, sconces for impact, picture lights for task lighting, etc. When I was asked to address my client’s hallway, I had to sit down and really think about how to make a seemingly mundane space become something special. She shared with me that guests use this hallway more often than the main entrance, and she wanted it to make an impact for her family and guests. This particular home already had a beautiful spattering of navy blues in upholstery, art, and paint accents across the home. Standing in the main entryway just to the left, is a sitting area with navy blue walls and beautiful floral accent chairs. Just to the right is the hallway we addressed, which was painted white. I decided that we needed to balance the weight of the navy walls on our left and knew immediately that a grasscloth was the way to go. I have always loved grasscloth wallpaper, so its recent resurgence in popularity is music to my ears. It provides beautiful texture, depth of color, and balance to the space. Since this family has young children, we opted for vinyl grasscloth instead of the real thing. This material provides beauty and peace of mind, as it is much more durable than the natural alternative. The next step was to decide how to bring a sense of special to this space, with no furniture to provide a base for accessories. This is where lighting came in. The hall had existing can lights that we chose to swap out for these beautiful gold pendants. I wanted to bring that gold tone down lower to balance and decided that installing picture lights above the artwork was the way to go. With that pop of gold on one side, I needed to balance it on the other… so along came these stunning gold twig mirrors, which also reflect light and make the space feel larger. The end result is absolutely lovely! Guests are now

greeted by a stunning entrance that ties in elements that already existed in the home. We went from an empty white space to a warm textural hug. The story begins as soon as you step foot in this hallway, and it’s a story that anyone should be happy to call home!

Delightful Dining BY BETH RAFFERTY, IBB OWNER & DESIGNER

beth@ibbdesign.com | @ibbdesign on Instagram Photography by Dan Piassick A wallpaper mural in Sky Blue sets the stage for a delightful dining experience in my client’s home. Traditionally, the dining room is a bit formal and may seem somewhat untouchable, uninviting, and meant for those ever-so-few formal dining occasions. Since it is the first

room you see when entering their home, my clients wanted to create a welcoming invitation for family and friends to sit and stay a while. We happily accepted the task of making their dining room the hub of their family gatherings and the center of attention. Guests are always impressed with its inviting and elevated décor and happy palette of blues. To set the mood, we selected the Sky Blue floral wallpaper with birds, blossoms, and vines in order to create an intriguing and happy feel. Grand chairs in complementing light and dark blues surround the wood high gloss dining table. A gold bar cart tucked away in the corner is the perfect location for easy access when serving or pouring an after-dinner drink. Adding the Audrey permanent botanical from The Shay Geyer Collection brought in a bold fuchsia color to pop off the navy drapery panels and blue accents. The mirrored buffet was styled with matching gold lamps that complement the hardware on the piece. The pagoda-style mirror showcases the height of the ceilings and reflects the stunning wallpaper. We completed this dynamic room with a jeweled chandelier and large hand-knotted rug.

MULTI-PURPOSE S P A C E

BY RITA SKAGERBERG, IBB VISUAL MERCHANDISER rita@ibbdesign.com Photo by Dan Piassick Our homes have always been more than just a place to eat and sleep—and now the boundaries between work, home, and leisure have become more blurred than ever. As we shifted toward more activities being done inside the home in these last few years, we have noticed the effect our surroundings can have on our mood and productivity levels. It can be challenging to envision a space intended for multipurposes, in some cases doubling or tripling its usage. Whether you’re trying to maximize a small space, create a versatile bonus room, or make an open floor plan more functional, here are a few things you should consider. The first and most important step is to decide how you plan to use the space. Is it essential for working from home? Do the kids need a designated place to do schoolwork? Will you need a place for overnight guests? Is a den or family room for game night and movie watching fundamental to your family’s functionality? The second step (if the space allows) is to designate separate areas for different activities. Design your multi-functional space in a way that prioritizes activities for which you’ll use them the most. Start with the “biggest zone” and then work to fit the smaller ones. For example, if you need a space for the family to watch TV, read books, and play games, start with seating around the TV. Add a reading nook and game table on the periphery, utilizing square footage that doesn’t make sense for the main zone— i.e., a cozy corner that is more suited to curling up with a novel than watching a movie. Inclusions such as area rugs can make a huge impact on establishing the different zones within a shared space. Room dividers create privacy where needed. Wall paint can easily define a “nook” where a room’s architecture does

44 IBB AT HOME

not support it. There is an incredible amount of space hiding in your home, no matter how tiny it may be; you just need to know where to look for it! Corners, for instance, are often overlooked and under-utilized storage spots. The addition of a simple L-shaped corner desk or corner shelving unit can instantly multiply a room’s storage space, freeing up your floors and closets for other functional uses. Next, using dual-purpose furniture is pivotal to the success of the multi-room merger. One of the most needed and desired room combinations is a home office + guest room. In most instances, your guests aren’t there that often, so this is an ideal way to get more out of a room. If you only host overnight visitors every once in a while, why fill an entire spare room with a stationary guest bed that rarely ever sleeps guests? With transforming or fold-away furniture, you don’t have to choose. Think Murphy beds, sleeper sofas, and storage desks that tuck away and disappear entirely when not in use. Ottoman cubes on casters not only have storage for things like extra linens, but also can be easily moved for different uses such as a cocktail table, extra seating, or as a footrest. An important consideration is that the furniture still matches your style and decor in all its various configurations. Finally, establish consistency across color palettes and furniture styles. This will take a multifunctional home from crowded to cohesive. Play with colors and textures to create a unifying theme. Make sure colors and styles are complementary; otherwise, you run the risk of sensory overload. As cliché as it sounds, home is where the heart is, and now home is also where the office, gym, library, cinema, yoga studio, etc. are. At the end of the day, your multi-purpose home should still feel homey, no matter how many other functions it may serve.

SUMMER

Serenity

BY SHAY GEYER, IBB OWNER & DESIGNER shay@ibbdesign.com @designershay on Instagram Photography by Jimi Smith Photography

When my long-time clients decided to build a pool at their new home, they asked me to be a part of the process. They selected Aquaterra Outdoors as their builder. It was a pleasure to work with owner Tal Thevenot in choosing the pool finishes and materials that created an incredible backyard paradise. Large sliding doors open up the interiors to their outdoor living, so it was important to work with a color palette that would flow from inside to outside. We created a cozy sitting area just off of the family room. A large sofa and a pair of chairs offer a relaxing spot to enjoy a glass of wine and the gorgeous poolside views. On the other side of the spa, Aquaterra designed a firepit area. As my clients are a a family of five, we wanted each family member to have a comfortable swivel chair to enjoy s’mores by the fire or warm up on a chilly evening. The sky blue outdoor fabric used for the cushions and the blue glass in the firepit bring our outdoor color palette to this space.

We arranged the deck by the pool with two chaise lounges and a round dining table. Blue striped fabric makes a bold statement on the chaises and adds color to the deck area. They love to cook and grill, so the spacious sunken kitchen is perfect for them! There are built-in bar stools in the pool so the kids or guests can sit and chat there while they grill. Every inch of their backyard was designed to give a resort style that functions perfectly for their family. It’s a perfect recipe for summer serenity!

ASK THE DESIGNERS

WHAT’S A GREAT

DESIGN TIP? UTILIZE WRITING DESKS

BY PAM HOOD, IBB DESIGNER pam@ibbdesign.com

Many clients are choosing to work from home, and they are asking for help placing writing tables. In your family room, use a writing table behind the sofa to maximize your space or place it in front of a window with a view. In your bedroom, place your writing table at the foot of your bed or in place of a nightstand on one side of the bed. In all these different settings, place your desk chair propped out and angled a little to one side to create an inviting setting. Have fun being creative and functional at the same time!

INVEST IN PERFORMANCE FABRICS The summer is finally here which means sangrias and Kool-Aid are in the home and outdoors! Performance fabrics are just what you need to ensure your furnishings stay unscathed. Performance fabrics are great not only for messes and spills, but also because they have a higher resistance to color fading. In addition, the durability makes re-covering all your white fabric furniture in performance fabrics totally worth it!

STYLE YOUR BOOKSHELVES My favorite way to begin styling shelves is to add a symmetrical factor. The chosen item should be on the larger side, incorporating color, texture, or pattern placed toward the top of the bookshelves. This could be a vase, container, or sculptural piece. That way you can incorporate other more sentimental or special pieces at eye level. Our eyes tend to love balance, and this should give you a good kickstart to successfully style your shelves.

REFRESH YOUR OUTDOORS 1) Add practical elements like lighting and audio to make it more relaxing and inviting for unwinding and entertaining. 2) Put screens and plant borders to add privacy and to help shade that hot sun! 3) Create an uncluttered, clean and fresh look with a rug and pillows in crisp bright colors, or bring in the black/white or blue/white combinations.

Veranda

With a nano door opening up the great room onto the veranda, our goal in designing my client’s outdoor living areas was to seamlessly blend the interiors and exteriors.

IBB AT HOME 53

Fireside Seating For the fireplace seating area, we had an outdoor sofa made in cobalt blue and arranged it with a pair of patterned swivel chairs. A round concrete dining table provides an eating space and a place for frequent card games.

Firepit & Pool My clients requested comfortable swivel chairs to go around their firepit. We chose a black and white stripe for the chairs to bring pattern into that area. We paired three Ledge Loungers with two umbrellas to give them a shaded spot for relaxing in the pool.

Main Dining For their main dining area by their outdoor kitchen, we opted for a rectangular concrete table that seats eight. A black and white patterned fabric was selected to upholster the metal-framed dining chairs. I love the brass ball finial detail on the chairs. They offer such great classic style!

IBB AT HOME 59

Pavilion For the pavilion area, we had a pair of swings made for them to enjoy. We carried the cobalt blue, black, and white color scheme onto the swings with a variety of outdoor fabrics. The swings offer a comfortable and relaxing place to soak up the sun and take in the gorgeous views of their backyard paradise!

The entertainment room is conveniently located near the kitchen. Collect your favorite snacks and people and cozy up to watch a Friday night movie. Painted in a deep Inky Blue, the walls feature the famous Sandbrock Ranch Oreo Cows!

STUDY

With four secondary bedrooms in this home, we decided to seize the opportunity and transform the front upstairs room into a private study. The rich green walls in Garden Spot give it an element of sophistication. We placed a large landscape painting behind the desk to create the notion of a second window in the room.

SECONDARY BEDROOMS Each of the secondary bedrooms was designed with their own bespoke personalities. The Guest Room is more traditional and is charmingly dressed in deep periwinkle with hints of citrus green. Love! Love! Love! The bright pink, custom wall design really brings a feminine POP to the blues and greens used throughout the home. Designer Tip: Color-blocking drapes are a fun way to pull all your colors together! Grab your best buddy for a campout at Camp Sandbrock. Featuring two twin-sized beds and ample room to play, this room decked in preppy plaids and stripes is perfect for brothers or best friends!

IBB AT HOME 79

LOFT & GAME ROOM Yet another place to gather and have fun, this spacious game room really shows off the livability factor in the Cambridge. The colorful rug is full of life and playfulness, and the soft blue velvet settee and linen chairs are cozy and grounding. We hope you enjoy every room and every moment in this happy home!

Craft CARTS

BY LYNDSEY MORGAN, OWNER, NEAT METHOD DALLAS-FRISCO lyndsey.morgan@neatmethod.com | neatmethod.com | @neatmethod on Instagram Photography Courtesy of NEATMETHOD DALLAS-FRISCO

Trend Alert! Lately, I have been receiving a very specific product request from my clients. What is this in-demand item you ask? It's none other than our favorite, fourwheeled friend... the craft cart! This makes our Neat hearts explode because we LOVE a craft cart. Since they're such a hot topic right now, let's talk about how to create the perfect one to keep your kids’ craft items corralled all summer long. Size ‘Em Up Size matters when creating the perfect cart. Make sure to be thoughtful of the items you would like it to hold when choosing the one that works best for your needs. It's also important to consider where it will be stored when not in use. They can be stowed in a closet or left out next to a desk as part of the décor. Always Accessorize There are SO many accessories available to

82 IBB AT HOME

customize your cart. We like to add cups (pictured) to the top tier to hold items like markers, scissors, and popsicle sticks. Pro tip: Including a few zipper pouches on the second tier is the perfect way to keep fun items like beads, googly eyes and pompoms contained. We recommend leaving the bottom tier open for larger items like coloring books and construction paper. Label. Label. Label. Labeling is the best way to make any organizational system functional. Don't forget to label the outside of each tier as well as the accessories within. Let the creativity commence! With unlimited size, color, and accessory options, there is no wrong way to go when creating these fun and crafty carts. Off to build one of your own? Make sure to tag @FriscoNeat on Instagram so we can see how you customize your cart!
