ures t a e F e t a i c o Ass CHARIS CHAN - MAXIS STARS OF WHAT'S NEXT with -Charis Chan, 7th Council Associate (MY) & MPPC Director

On the 5th of May 2017, Charis Chan, one of our very own, was over the moon when she was announced as one of the top 3 recipients of Maxis Stars of What’s Next award. In a brief interview, she told us the story of how her journey came about. When she first decided to join the competition, she thought she had missed her shot since it was so close to the deadline. Taking her chances, she filled in the application form anyway only to later find out that the deadline had been extended! Being given a second chance, she took up this opportunity to persevere and never looked back. After going through an online interview, and raising public votes with much challenge, she made it to the Top 10.

On the big night itself, Charis attended the Maxis Award Night, thinking her chances were slim. However, hearing her name being called out and receiving the award along with her cash prize, it made her realize that anything is indeed possible in life!

EY Young Tax Professional of the Year 2017 Malaysia Student Ambassador Workshop by Wong Jin Wen, 7th Council IAP Associate (MY)

I was delighted to have attended the EY Young Tax Professional of the Year (YTPY) 2017 Malaysia Student Ambassador Workshop on 6th of May at the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM). During the workshop session facilitated by representatives from IRBM and EY, I gained insights regarding current tax issues. The most interesting agenda was the tax case study mini competition in which we were required to work together to identify tax issues and come up with optimum solutions. It was a great experience as I got to meet people from different universities and learn working as a team. Thanks to ICMS and EY for the opportunity given.
