A DEVEL WITHIN Made in Dubai - the 5000HP Devel Sixteen “Actually, it is a bit more. Like 5007 horsepower,” Majid Al Attar says with a smile when we visit him in his showroom in Dubai. “We are currently doing a lot of testing and we are very happy with the results.” He is also quick to point out that a fellow Canadian, Drake, loves the hypercar and has given it an appearance in his 2018 “I’m Upset” music video. The Devel Sixteen garnered internet fame a few years ago, claiming this insane and jaw-dropping number, and people were quick to doubt the specs and even the existence of a real car. Well, here we are in Dubai, with the prototype and we were also introduced to two more cars that have updated bodies, interiors and engines. It all started in 2006 with a concept, before in 2013 the first prototype was unveiled at the Dubai International Motor Show. Devel plans to make three different versions - a ‘base’ model with a V8 making 2,000hp; a mid-range street-legal version with 3,000hp and finally, the 5,000hp which won’t be street-legal. It seems that after thirteen years, the company is getting closer to a final delivery date. We can’t wait! While in the glamorous showroom (although Devel will soon move into a new and bigger facility), Majid Al Attar also showed us an equally insane beast, the Devel Sixty. This very real tank-like truck with six wheels has a 6.75-liter V8 turbodiesel with 720 horsepower and 1,000 Newton-meters (738 pound-feet) of torque. A range-topping version with up to 1,500 hp is also in the make. By the way - google it: There is a video that shows this beast on a drag strip against a Mercedes AMG GT S. The Devel wins. Production for the Sixty will be in Dubai. Starting price for a military armored version is $250,000, while the top of the line luxury version will set you back $450,000. Delivery on the first edition is expected to be later in 2020.
