Welcome to the

11 th IELA WINTER SEMINAR BUILDING THE FUTURE IN THE SOUTH HEMISPHERE

Dear IELA Members,

Greetings from the Education and Training Working Group!

On behalf of the Education and Training Working Group, we are pleased to inform you that, after 3 years of hardship, we are back with the physical edition of Winter Seminar 2023. This year it will take place at Cape Town, South Africa, different to the traditional venue of Zurich.

Following many discussions, the IELA Board decided once again to offer this as a funded event and to give back benefits to members. We received an overwhelming response with 32 registrations from 18 countries to date in spite of the current reopening of the industry.

Education & Training is the key to success. IELA is immensely thankful that you have helped us to build the future of our association, qualifying the next generation in SouthAfrica for future tasks in the industry.

The event programme is exclusively designed to address current logistics complexities and “New Now” environment procedures in terms of exhibition handling and logistics in all segments of our Industry. The WS 2023 will be targeting new faces in the Industry who are catering to forwarding, On-site and Sales & Marketing verticals and old faces who will sharpen their current knowledge and experience. We are confident that students will sharpen their skills, enhance their confidence and grow awareness in order to meet the demands of the growing needs of their customers such as Organisers and Exhibitors.

The speakers who will contribute to the programme content are well-experienced personnel from the Industry (most of them are IELA board members along with External Speakers) and will definitely help students to learn and enrich their experience and training.

We look forward to announcing the bright student of our industry who will be winning the Best Student Award 2023 and have a chance to win a IELA sponsored participation at the 2023 IELA Congress in Malta. Don’t miss the announcement! The winner will be revealed on January 15th

We would like to thank all our supporters and sponsors to this event.

About the DAY OUT’s destination: Aquila Private Game Reserve is a safari destination just 2 hours’ drive from Cape Town. The 10 000 hectare conservancy is situated between the Langeberg and the Outeniqua Mountains in the Western Cape, South Africa, and home to the majestic Big 5 legends: elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard, and rhino.

The participants will engage in a game drive offered on traditional safari vehicles for encounters with the wildlife at the reserve.

The reserve has a large swimming pool with a poolside bar, serving cocktails and ice-cold beverages for socials around the 35m long crystal clear pool. There are large dedicated dining areas and an African-style restaurant that serves local cuisine and traditional South African dessert. It also has an entertainment area with mini-golf, big chess.

Many awards and accolades over the years have reaffirmed Aquila’s conservation and community upliftment projects. The reserve most recently

Monday, January 16th

Hotel Check Out

received the Skal International Sustainable Tourism Award for its various projects and policies that find the perfect balance between tourism, conservation, and the community.

Aquila’s purpose is to protect and preserve Africa’s increasingly threatened wildlife and is fully committed to social upliftment, job creation, skills development and various sustainable empowerment programmes. Creating the ideal, sustainable balance between nature conservation and the empowerment of the local community of Touws River is at the core of how Aquila operates.

Named after the endangered black or verreaux eagle (Aquila verreauxii), Aquila’s story began in 1999 when its owner, Searl Derman, driven by a desire to share his passion for the wild with Cape Town, set about searching for the perfect piece of land to re-introduce the Big 5 to the Western Cape. He was fortunate enough to come across a nature reserve that would later become Aquila Private Game Reserve.
