BUILD BACK BETTER “Build Back Betterâ€? is a concept of an ideal reconstruction and recovery process that delivers resilient, sustainable, and efďŹ cient recovery solutions to disaster-affected communities. The motivation behind the Build Back Better concept is to make communities stronger and more resilient following a disaster event. As a major force in disaster reduction, Japan cannot be content to merely promote the strength of our technology to the world; we need to share our experiences and the details of our public initiatives.
What does the logo stands for? First of all, it represents the restoration of our environment and ourselves from the disaster. The semi-circular curves of the lines represent the ecliptic; the left concave lines means the night, while the right convex means the sunrise. By the difference of the sizes of the curves, we mean our positive aspiration of the recovery. In other word, this semicircle stands for something once been destroyed or broken can be restored better. It also represents the technology. Moreover, BBB (build back better), the theme of this summer camp is added to the logo.

The Tokyo Rinkai Disaster Prevention Park “SONA AREA TOKYO” “SONA AREA TOKYO” is the disaster prevention experience-learning facility. A phrase coined from the Japanese word “sonaeru” meaning “to prepare” and “area”. Through firsthand experience, the facility helps people prepare themselves for disasters by acquiring the skills to “picture a disaster” and to “respond appropriately”. At this facility, we’re planning to go on a study tour called ”Tokyo Direct-hit Earthquake 72h”. You will be able to develop your skills to survive the initial 72 hours after an earthquake. In this tour, we also use tablet PCs and AR(Augmented Reality) system to learn more about disaster. How wonderful this is!
