Creativity

Works is a socially engaged arts organisation who have been based in Radstock for nearly 40 years. The organisation was previously known as Wansdyke Arts Council, North East Somerset Arts, NESA, and finally in 2010, became Creativity Works. We are the only National Portfolio Organisation in B&NES, receiving core funding from Arts Council England in recognition of the high quality of our work and the impact that our work has on the communities of Radstock, B&NES and further afield. We deliver courses, projects and programmes for a variety of different communities including people living with mental health challenges, women suffering with perinatal depression, vulnerable young people and families, and communities within specific geographical locations. We use the power of the creative process, inspiring and empowering people to explore, develop and grow. We want to make arts and creativity accessible to as many people as possible as we are passionate about the positive impact it can have on individuals and communities.

One of our most recent projects in the area is Love Letters to Radstock. “This project is all about hearing stories of why residents love Radstock so much, to celebrate the people and places of the town, and to join together to create amazing and lasting public artworks that bring a sense of joy, celebration and civic pride,” says Oliver Jones, Director, Creativity Works. Working alongside two artists – Ellie Shipman and Alicia Ridley, Creativity Works invited the community to join them at letter writing stations throughout the town where they were able to create their own love letters on larger-than-life envelopes.
