EDITOR'S LETTER
ART DE VIVRE BY ILONA LEE
Welcome to Île Maison A TURNING POINT FOR ARTFUL LIVING AND WELLBEING
The Île Maison dream was born a few years ago on the French Island of St. Barths. To me, being on an island feels like a celebration of life, combining the power and art of nature with the excitement of the future. The experience is always transformational, inspiring and unique. My goal is to bring this empowering feeling, the very essence of Art de Vivre to you and your life. So what is my secret to Artful Living and Wellbeing? Artful living and wellbeing is a lifetime journey. It can not be bought or accumulated. To me, it's about living in the present moment, building deeper human connections, doing fulfilling work, creating memorable experiences full of laughter and tears. It's a journey of the authentic self-expression on route to becoming the best version of ourselves. I believe that when we organize our mind, body, and emotions, we can transform from being a creation to being the Creator of our own life. For the Île Maison community, we curate experiences from around the world to recognize excellence in Art & Design, Real Estate, Hospitality, and Wellness. Île Maison visionaries and empowering leaders share their stories to inspire others. When I think about my story, I think about Kintsukuroi - the Japanese art of repairing pottery using lacquer resin laced with gold to seam the broken pieces. The potteries mended flaws become part of the overall design, adding meaning, value, and depth, making the object even more beautiful. Just like the pottery, we get broken. The times when we get scratched and challenged can become our gifts, our golden seams illuminating a bright new light on a brand new us. Hope you enjoy our magazine.
With love, Ilona Lee

DONNA MODERNA
A conversation with Patrizia Calvio Style is universal! Only the accents are different. If there is such a thing as “Italian style,” it incorporates these aesthetics, as well as attention to detail, and pride in a finished product. More important than Italian style, I believe is personal style. It is most important to match the clothing to the personality. Q. You just came back from Italy. What are the fashion trends for Spring/Summer 2019 in Italy? A. We see a transition in fashionable colors. Solid black and solid red will always be fashionable for every season, and a well-made garment in those colors can grab the attention of a room. With the weather getting warmer, we’re looking at an influx of pastels, beige, and especially white. I’ve seen some influential designers pivoting towards polka dots and animal prints, both of which I love. I also love seeing layers, which are fantastic for the transition in seasons and provides opportunities for creative styling. The latest designs involve natural fibers, crafted details, and lace as a material, not just trim. I also see palazzo pants, short dresses, and long flowing dresses becoming more popular for the spring and summer seasons. CR: Very young I completed my Bachelor of Mathematics and continued my education studying classical guitar and composition at the Conservatory of Music in Madrid. While I have been a professor of guitar, jazz, and improvisation at the Music Conservatory of Malaga for the past 30 years, my interest in photography has been with me since I was 12 years old. Q: How does your scientific background influence your creative expression? CR: My visual work expresses my artistic vision through the interpretation of 3D space, the study of volumes and perspectives, the infinite vanishing points, and the study of color. For example, “Multiverse” which won the best stand prize at the ArtExpo New York processed numerous pictures using mathematical software, creating triangulation points and fractals. TRANSFORMING STRESS & FINDING YOUR INNER BALANCE
“We have the power to use our hearts to transform stress and regain our balance in work and life. For millennia, the heart was revered as a source of courage, wisdom, intuition, love, and power - a source of life, a fountain of love, a wellspring of deep emotion. But then science, reason, and the industrial age decided the heart was not the stuff of poets, mystics, sages, and philosophers after all. It was a merely pump.“ - Bruce Cryer, Founder of Renaissance Human - a new movement to activate the creative spark that lies within each human being.

THE GLOBAL IMPACT OF THE MAHARISHI EFFECT
T
he Maharishi effect is thousands of years old Vedic technology named after the Scholar, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who introduced the technique to the modern world.
The modern name is the TM technique, Transcendental Meditation, a medically validated science phenomenon that brings improvement in virtually all areas of physical and mental health. The humanitarian benefit is enormous, stress and violence reduced and eliminated. The business advantage is equally tremendous - in a peaceful new market place that develops continually and according to statistical predictions, an unimaginable amount of new goods can be created, and new businesses and services developed. One does not have to be a pure idealist to see the good side. Because it pays off to create the Maharishi Effect, to enjoy life in harmony and to create new thriving markets. The Maharishi Effect is a route worth taking. Teresa Studzinski, MA, President and Co-Founder of the Global Alliance for Preventive Wings in the Military. GOOD NEWS It isn't enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn't enough to believe in it. One must work at it. - Eleanor Roosevelt I am so happy to start my column sharing Good News with the Île Maison community. Often we think that the world is not peaceful and loving, and there is no hope for nonviolent communication. We strengthen the message of good, as I am sure all of you who are reading this magazine do. You must be believers in humankind. Currently, I am working on the 50th anniversary of he Woodstock festival. In 1969 Woodstock was a gathering of 500,000 people who desired to hear great music and show their concern over the war.
