Roof Renovation

Exisitng building roof was not in good condition anymore. The ceiling was also broken at some parts, showing the structure of the roof.

Extended Needs

Existing building interior layout could not support extended needs such as closed meeting room, well designed waiting area, etc. The existing building also needed more entrance doors to solve guests circulation matter.

MEP SYSTEM MEP system, such as rainwater pipes on roof area, was not organized. Some of pipes were also not in good condition.

Problem Solving Approach

1 Renovating the roof in order to create a better natural lighting and visualization from meeting’s hall

Redesign the interior layout to meet client’s needs and to increase the building’s value from its appearance.

• Propose to remove the existing ceiling board on interior side. By doing that, the natural lighting will penetrate the roof into the main hall. In the furute, acoustic ceiling shall be placed accordingly with the skylight so that it will not prevent natural lighting getting in.

• Propose to replace the existing roof material with the newer one.

• Propose to replace the existing structure with a newer one based on the picture on the right.

• Redesign the lamp position.

Layout

• Propose to add more entrance doors to main hall.

• Propose to add specific entrance doors for meeting participant that will go straight to waiting room.

• Separate outdoor area at the second floor with indoor area with a vestibule

Acoustic ceiling position to be arranged accordingly

Structural elements shall be exemined by structure specialist Lighting to be studied

Skylight

Redesign the MEP System collaborating with local MEP consultant.

Interior Element Inspiration

The existing building had unique roofing shape that resembled triangle. Triangle shape also can be extracted from Borneo’s local culture icon, Talawang, or a shield that can be seen from the picture on the left. Therefore, triangle shape were applied to the interior design as a ornament.
