To the Sorors of the Dallas Alumnae Chapter: On behalf of the National Executive Board and Grand Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, it is with honor and enthusiasm that I greet you on the occasion of this 103rd Founders Day. In 1913, 22 extraordinary, futuristic, ingenious, prophetic, visionary, young women embarked on a crusade of action and advocacy. As a direct result of their dedication and determination, thousands of women have not only become members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., but phenomenal leaders worldwide. Following in the footsteps of our 22 illustrious Founders, Delta women continue to innovate and impact the communities in which we live and serve. Our Founders were determined to make the clear distinction that Delta Sigma Theta was a service oriented and socially conscious organization. These 22 undergraduate students at Howard University serve as beacons of inspiration, igniting our passion and purpose while infusing us with a burning desire to give more of ourselves to a worthy cause. It is important that we acknowledge and honor the legacy of our Founders. Through their valiant demonstration of fortitude, we realize that there is no greater purpose; no greater calling; than to accept the commitment of leading others in a forward and positive direction. As members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., we have an obligation to our Founders, our communities and each other to continue to use our collective strength to promote academic excellence and to provide assistance to those in need. By remaining steadfast to the Christian principles upon which our organization was founded, we will continue to set and surpass the standard of excellence. In Service, Leadership and Empowerment,

Most Sorors didn’t even know me, but the care & concern so many of them showed was very touching, and it deepened my appreciation of the “bond” we share in our Sisterhood.
