ace unas semanas, en el marco de la Asociación Española de Campos de Golf, tuve la ocasión de atender la charla del presidente de la Federación Española de Golf, D. Gonzalo Escauriaza, quien resumió de un modo muy directo lo que es y lo que no es el golf.

Me pareció que, por su sencillez y claridad, merece ser compartido y puesto en valor: VERDADES 1. El Golf es salud. Un reciente estudio de la Universidad de Edimburgo muestra a nuestro deporte como una actividad beneficiosa que alarga y mejora la vida de quienes lo practican. Una partida supone caminar entre 8 y 9 kilómetros y consumir más de 3.000 calorías.

2. Crea puestos de trabajo. Y yo añado: en cantidad, estable y de calidad, es decir, todo el año, algo que realmente deseamos en la isla.

3. Produce un impacto económico multiplicador tremendo. Supone la aportación de un tipo de turismo respetuoso, que genera un gasto elevado en muchos sectores económicos y, sobre todo, fuera de la temporada estival.

FALSEDADES 1. El Golf es elitista. Se puede tener un set de palos por el mismo precio que una raqueta de tenis (99 €), y se pueden hacer rondas a precios muy asequibles (nosotros ofrecemos 9 hoyos cortos desde 10 €).

2. El Golf supone consume de agua. En Baleares los campos de golf solo se riegan con agua regenerada, esto es, se reutilizan aguas fecales depuradas que de otro modo se vierten al mar.

3. El Golf es malo para el medio ambiente. ¡Todo lo contrario! Aparte del uso positivo del agua, el golf supone un pulmón al crear una huella de carbono extraordinariamente positiva. Ocasiona pocos residuos, consume poca energía y fomenta la presencia de flora y fauna autóctona.

En resumen: necesitamos acabar con los estereotipos. El golf es una actividad fenomenal que socializa, genera salud, produce impactos positivos sociales, económicos y medioambientales, y además es muy divertido y se puede jugar en familia. ¡Gracias por ayudarnos a seguir fomentándolo!

TRUTHS AND 3 UNTRUTHS ABOUT GOLF. A few weeks ago, in the context of the Spanish Golf Course Association, I had the opportunity to attend a talk by the president of the Spanish Golf Federation, Gonzalo Escauriaza, who gave a very direct summary of what golf is and is not. As a result of its simplicity and clarity, I felt that it deserved to be shared and appreciated by others: TRUTHS 1. Golf is healthy. A recent study by the University of Edinburgh proves our sport is a beneficial activity that lengthens and improves the life of those who practise it. A round of golf implies walking between 8 and 9 kilometres and consumes over 3,000 calories.

2. It creates jobs. And I would add: a high number of stable, quality jobs, i.e. all year round, which is something we truly wish for on this island.

3. Golf has a tremendous multiplying economic impact. Golf contributes to a type of tourism that is respectful, generating high expenditure in many economic sectors and above all, outside the summer season.

UNTRUTHS 1. Golf is elitist. You can purchase a set of clubs for the same price as a tennis racket (€99), and there are some very economical rounds to be had (we offer 9 short holes from €10).

2. Golf consumes water. In the Balearic Islands golf courses are only watered with regenerated water, i.e. treated sewage water which would otherwise be pumped into the sea.

3. Golf is bad for the environment. Quite the contrary! Apart from the positive use of water, golf is a green lung in that it creates an extraordinarily positive carbon footprint.

It gives rise to little waste, does not consume much energy and encourages the presence of autochthonous flora and fauna.

In short: we need to end with the stereotypes. Golf is a phenomenal activity which socialises, generates health, has a positive social, economic and environmental impact, and to boot it is great fun and can be played as a family. Thank you so much for helping us to carry on promoting it!

REI WAHRHEITEN UND DREI UNWARHEITEN ÜBER DEN GOLFSPORT. Vor ein paar Wochen hatte ich im Rahmen des Spanischen Verbandes der Golfclubs die Gelegenheit, einer Gesprächsrunde mit dem Vorsitzenden des Spanischen Golfverbandes, Don Gonzalo Escauriaza, beizuwohnen. In seiner Rede zeigte er ziemlich direkt auf, was Golfsport ist bzw. nicht ist. Aufgrund der schlichten Klarheit seiner Worte erscheint es mir angebracht, seine Ausführungen an dieser Stelle wiederzugeben: WAHRHEITEN 1. Golfsport ist gesund. Eine kürzlich erschienene Studie der Universität Edinburgh zeigt, dass Golfsport das Leben der Spieler verlängert und verbessert. Bei einer Golfpartie läuft man zwischen acht und neun Kilometern und verbrennt mehr als 3.000 Kalorien.

2. Golfsport schafft Arbeitsplätze. Und ich möchte hinzufügen, viele, stabile und hochwertige Stellen für das ganze Jahr, also genau das, was wir uns für die Insel wünschen.

3. Golfsport kurbelt die Wirtschaft an. Er leistet einen Beitrag zum hochwertigen Tourismus und steigert die Einnahmen in vielen Wirtschaftsbereichen um ein Vielfaches und dies vor allem in der Nebensaison.

UNWARHEITEN 1. Golfsport ist elitär. Ein Set Golfschläger kostet dasselbe wie ein Tennisschläger (99 €). Außerdem muss eine Golfrunde nicht teuer sein, wir bieten beispielsweise neun Kurzbahnen ab 10 € an.

2. Golfsport erhöht den Wasserverbrauch.

Auf den Balearen werden die Golfplätze mit wiederaufbereitetem Wasser, also mit gefiltertem Abwasser bewässert, das man sonst ins Meer leiten würde.

3. Golfsport ist umweltschädlich. Ganz im Gegenteil! Außer dem sparsamen Wasserverbrauch stellen Golfplätze eine „grüne Lunge“ dar und verbessern die Luft. Darüber hinaus verursachen Golfplätze wenig Abfall, verbrauchen wenig Energie und fördern die Erhaltung der einheimischen Flora und Fauna.

Zusammenfassend lässt sich sagen: wir müssen die Klischees beenden. Golfsport ermöglicht soziale Kontakte, fördert die Gesundheit und hat positive Effekte auf Gesellschaft, Wirtschaft und Umwelt. Außerdem macht Golf Spaß und man kann mit der ganzen Familie spielen. Wir danken Ihnen, dass Sie uns dabei unterstützen, den Golfsport weiterhin zu fördern!

stimad@ golfista, Según el ordenamiento jurídico, la mayoría de edad es una condición para determinar la plena capacidad de obrar de una persona a partir de su nacimiento. En España, esta edad es de 18 años, justamente los que cumple en 2018 Golf Son Muntaner, el campo más exclusivo de Arabella Golf Mallorca.

Son Muntaner fue concebido con el máximo cariño, alimentado y cuidado de la mejor forma, y educado, orientado y perfeccionado durante su crecimiento. Ahora, llegada su mayoría de edad, ha conseguido ser el campo de referencia en Mallorca, y digno de estar entre los mejores de Europa. ¿Qué esperamos de Son Muntaner en el futuro? Queremos seguir siendo un referente, tanto por la calidad en el mantenimiento del campo, con la nueva hierba completamente establecida, como en el servicio que ofrecemos a nuestros visitantes, pero sin dejar de ser vanguardia en la innovaciones técnicas tanto a nivel comercial, como de sostenibilidad, y de compromiso con los valores sociales que Mallorca debe ofrecer al resto del mundo del golf.

OMING OF AGE Dear Golfer, Legally speaking, coming of age is a condition that determines a person’s full capacity, calculated as from their birth. In Spain, that age is 18, precisely the number of years Golf Son Muntaner, Arabella Golf Mallorca’s most exclusive course, has been in existence in 2018.

Son Muntaner was designed with the utmost loving care, nurtured and cared for in the best possible way, and raised, guided and perfected throughout its growth. Now, as it comes of age, it has managed to become the flagship course on Mallorca, worthy of a place amongst the best in Europe.

What can we expect from Son Muntaner in the future? We want to continue to be a model, in both quality and course maintenance, with a new grass that is now fully established, and also in terms of the service we offer our visitors, but without forgoing a position at the forefront in technical innovations, either commercially speaking or in sustainability, and commitment to the social values Mallorca must offer the rest of the world of golf.

To do so, we are blessed with the privileged support of the Schörghuber Group, which has helped guide our growth and with which, having passed this rite of passage, we shall meet the challenges we are faced with over coming years.

The ability to develop new expectations and offer better experiences, the flexibility of our golfing offer, the constant innovation and level of adaptation to the needs manifested by new golfers, are all aspects that must define us in the future.

NDLICH VOLLJÄHRIG! Verehrte G@lffreunde, im juristischen Sinne bedeutet Volljährigkeit das Lebensalter, ab dem eine Person seit ihrer Geburt als erwachsen und voll geschäftsfähig gilt. In Spanien erlangt man die Volljährigkeit mit Vollendung des 18. Lebensjahres. Seinen 18. Geburtstag begeht 2018 auch der Golfclub Son Muntaner, der exklusivste Golfplatz der Arabella Golf Mallorca Son Muntaner wurde mit höchster Hingabe entworfen, erhalten und gepflegt sowie während seiner Entwicklung bestens geformt, ausgerichtet und perfektioniert.

Jetzt, beim Erreichen seiner „Volljährigkeit“ gilt der Golfplatz als beste Adresse auf Mallorca und hält einen würdigen Platz unter den besten Golfplätzen Europas.

Was erwarten wir künftig von Son Muntaner?

“Son Quint ha ganado en calidad”

C

uáles son los cambios más importantes acometidos en la reciente reforma de Golf Son Quint? Principalmente se han reestructurado las calles de los hoyos 8 y 9, y también se han ampliado los tees.

Explíquenos por favor las principales novedades de las calles 8 y 9... Estas dos calles han perdido un poco de su longitud, pasando a ser un PAR 4 y un PAR 3, cuando anteriormente eran ambas un PAR 4. De todas maneras, lo importante es que el campo ha ganado en calidad.

La antigua calle 8 tenía un pronunciado dogleg a la derecha, y el green no era visible en el segundo golpe. Ahora la calle es recta y se juega en dirección al mar. Resumiendo, este hoyo es tras la

reforma más adecuado, atractivo y largo que antes. En cuanto a la calle 9, ahora es más corta, se ha convertido en un PAR 3 y, sin embargo, ¡no deja de ser un verdadero reto para los jugadores!... Otra ventaja es que el camino desde el green al siguiente tee es ahora más corto. ¿Qué valoración hace ahora de Golf Son Quint, y también de los otros dos campos, Son Vida y Son Muntaner?

Son Quint ha ganado en la diversidad de su uso, y ahora es ideal para las personas que quieran tomar clases de golf o para perfeccionar su juego. Al estar los tres campos en el mismo valle, a tan pocos minutos de distancia, y lindando con los dos hoteles, es una oferta perfecta para huéspedes y jugadores,

tal como confirma la altísima ocupación de ambos hoteles. El legendario campo de Son Vida se alimenta de su historia así como de la integración en una lujosa urbanización de villas y de los dos hoteles. La nueva casa club ha sido un acierto que enriquece las instalaciones.

El campo de Son Muntaner supone un reto deportivo mayor y, aún así, destaca por su buena jugabilidad para todos los hándicaps. Además, el campo dispone de grandes instalaciones de prácticas. Después de su renovación integral, Son Muntaner se ha convertido en uno de los mejores campos de la isla. ¿Cuántos campos de golf ha diseñado hasta el momento? He diseñado entre 300 y 350 campos, de los que se

han construido alrededor de 100. Prácticamente todos los campos destacan por un gran éxito en términos económicos y son muy populares entre los jugadores. Cuando diseño un campo de golf cuido mucho su integración en el paisaje existente, así como la jugabilidad para todos los hándicaps. ¿Qué es lo que más le gusta de Mallorca? Como todos los amantes de la isla, y el club de fans es muy grande, disfruto del hecho de que Mallorca está a relativamente a poca distancia de cualquier aeropuerto del centro de Europa y goza de una buena accesibilidad. El paisaje es muy cautivador, sobre todo en las montañas. Por otro lado, la isla cubre todos los deseos de cualquier visitante gracias a la oferta de excelentes restaurantes, cafés, hoteles y fincas.

Otra ventaja es que puedes estar prácticamente todos los días al aire libre bajo el sol, por ejemplo jugando en campos de golf de primer nivel como Son Muntaner, Son Vida o Son Quint.

ON QUINT HAS GAINED IN QUALITY’. What are the most important changes that have been undertaken during the recent alteration work at Golf Son Quint? Basically the fairways of holes 8 and 9 have been restructured, and in addition the tees have been extended.

Please explain the main new features of fairways 8 and 9... These two fairways have lost some of their length, becoming a PAR 4 and a PAR 3 when they were formerly both PAR 4s. In any case, the important thing is that the course has gained in quality.

The former fairway 8 had a pronounced dogleg on the right, and the green was not visible on the second stroke. Now the fairway is straight and played in the direction of the sea. To sum up, after the alterations this hole is more adequate, more attractive and longer

‘Fairway 9 it is now shorter, and yet it continues to be a veritable challenge for players!...’ than before. As for fairway 9, it is now shorter – it has become a PAR 3 – and yet it continues to be a veritable challenge for players!... Another advantage is that the path from the green to the next tee is shorter now.

What is your appraisal of Golf Son Quint now, and indeed of the other two courses, Son Vida and Son Muntaner? Son Quint has gained in terms of the diversity of its use, and is now ideal for people who want to have golf lessons or perfect their game. Since the three courses are in the same valley, just a few minutes away from one another and adjoining the two hotels, this is a perfect option for guests and players, as is borne out by the very high occupation level of both the hotels. The legendary Son

Vida course feeds from its history and also the integration of a luxurious villa urbanisation and the two hotels. The new clubhouse was definitely a good move, and one which enriches the facilities. The course of Son Muntaner is an ever greater sporting challenge but even so, it stands out for its great playability for all handicaps. In addition, the course has superb practice facilities.

After its comprehensive renovation, Son Muntaner has become one of the best courses on the island.

How many golf courses have you designed to date? I have designed between 300 and 350 courses, of which around 100 have been built. Practically all the courses are remarkable for the great success they have had in economic terms and the fact that they are

extremely popular with players.

When I design a golf course, I pay a lot of attention to its integration into the existing landscape, and to the playability for all handicaps.

What do you like the most about Mallorca? Like everyone who loves the island – and it has a big fan club – I enjoy the fact that Mallorca is a relatively short distance away from any airport in central Europe and has good accessibility. The scenery is enchanting, especially in the mountains. And at the same time, the island covers everything any visitor could wish for with the wide range of excellent restaurants, cafés, hotels and properties.

Another advantage is that you can be outdoors under the sun practically every day, for example playing on first class golf courses like Son Muntaner, Son Vida or Son Quint.

ON QUINT HAT AN QUALITÄT GEW ONNEN.“ Welche wichtigen Änderungen wurden bei der kürzlich erfolgten Umgestaltung des Golf Son Quint vorgenommen? Hauptsächlich wurden die Spielbahnen 8 und 9 umgestaltet; die Tees sind ebenfalls vergröβert worden.

Erläutern Sie uns bitte die wichtigen Neuerungen auf den Bahnen 8 und 9.

Die Spielbahnen sind etwas verkürzt worden; aus zwei PAR 4 wurden ein PAR 4 und ein PAR 3. Das Wichtigste ist jedoch, dass der Platz an Qualität gewonnen hat. Die alte Bahn 8 hatte ein scharfes dogleg nach rechts, das Grün war beim zweiten Schlag nicht einsehbar. Heute ist die Spielbahn geradlinig, man spielt Richtung Meer. Kurz gesagt: nach dem Umbau ist die Bahn zufriedenstellender, attraktiver und länger als zuvor. Bahn 9 hingegen ist jetzt kürzer und ein PAR 3 und trotzdem noch immer eine sportliche Herausforde-

rung für die Spieler! Ein weiterer Vorteil: der Weg vom Grün zum nächsten Tee ist jetzt ebenfalls kürzer.

Was halten Sie von Golf Son Quint sowie Son Vida und Son Muntaner, den anderen beiden Plätzen der Arabella Golf Mallorca? Son Quint ist jetzt noch vielseitiger nutzbar. Der Platz ist nun perfekt für Spieler, die Golfstunden nehmen oder ihre Spieltechnik perfektionieren wollen. Da die drei Plätze im selben Tal liegen, nur wenige Fahrminuten voneinander entfernt und direkt an die beiden Hotels grenzen, ist dies für Urlauber und Golfspieler ein perfektes Angebot. Dies belegen die hohen Besucherzahlen der beiden Hotels. Die historische Golfanlage Son Vida lebt von ihrer Geschichte und der Einbindung in die luxuriöse Villensiedlung sowie den beiden Hotels. Das neue Clubhaus ist ein Volltreffer und eine Bereicherung

für die Anlage. Der Golfplatz Son Muntaner stellt eine größere sportliche Herausforderung dar und ist dennoch gut spielbar für alle Handicaps. Außerdem verfügt Son Muntaner über großzügige Übungsanlagen. Nach dem kompletten Umbau ist Son Muntaner zu einem der besten Golfplätze der Insel avanciert.

Wieviele Golfplätze haben Sie bisher entworfen? Entworfen habe ich 300 bis 350 Plätze – gebaut wurden zirka 100.

sehr beliebt. Bei der Planung eines Golfplatzes achte ich auf seine Einbindung in die vorhandene Landschaft und auf die Bespielbarkeit für alle Handicaps.

Was gefällt Ihnen am besten an Mallorca? Wie alle Freunde der Insel, und die Fan-Gemeinde ist groß, genieße ich die relativ kurze Entfernung Mallorcas zu allen mitteleuropäischen Flughäfen sowie die gute Erreichbarkeit der Insel. Die Landschaft ist ausgesprochen schön, vor allem in den Bergen. Auf der anderen Seite deckt das enorme Angebot an hervorragenden Restaurants, Cafés, Hotels und Fincas alle Wünsche der Besucher ab. Ein anderer Vorteil ist, dass man sich in der Regel fast jeden Tag in der Sonne im Freien aufhalten kann und beispielsweise auf einem hervorragenden Golfplatz, wie Son Muntaner, Son Vida und Son Quint, spielen kann.

During the event, Arabella Golf Mallorca received the gold flag for Golf Son Muntaner, and the bronze flag for Golf Son Vida, for the excellent golf experience they offer in terms of both service and installations. Also, they are always extremely sensitive to and interested in the new tendencies and their customers’ tastes.

What Golfino novelties will be found this season in the Pro Shops? We have designed some very striking and attractive styles in the women’s collection, like the Concertina and Golf Orbit, which inspire a desire to enjoy the game and the good weather thanks to their ground-breaking designs.

Where is golf clothing design headed? For golfers, technical clothing is extremely important, which aside from being light is also comfortable and breathable. But this does not prevent golf attire from following the latest fashion trends, in the colours and patterns for example.

Do you believe that golf fashion can be used out of context of the course? Of course it can. l caddy master es una de las figuras más importantes de un campo de golf. Es la persona que recibe al jugador a su llegada y le despide después de jugar, quien le sirve de guía en las instalacio-

nes del club, le asesora y le transmite toda la información sobre el campo, le facilita el equipo deportivo, productos y servicios que puede necesitar y está pendiente de que su experiencia sea lo más placentera posible.

El caddy master más veterano de Arabella Golf Mallorca es Eustaquio Lorite, quien lleva ya 45 años trabajando en los campos del resort. “Hacemos de todo: recibimos a los jugadores, les sacamos los palos, les damos la salida,

HE FIGURE OF THE CADDY MASTER. The caddy master is one of the most important figures on a golf course. He is the person who welcomes players on their arrival and bids them farewell after playing, who serves as guide to the club facilities, gives them advice and all the information on the course, provides them with any sporting equipment, products and services they might need and makes sure their experience is as pleasant as possible.

Arabella Golf Mallorca’s most veteran caddy master is Eustaquio Lorite, who has been working on the resort courses for 45 years.

‘We do a bit of everything: we receive the players, we take out their clubs, we let the players out onto the course, we clean their clubs after the round, we pair players up if necessary, we attend to all their needs, we put away their bags... And most importantly, we do our absolute utmost to ensure they enjoy the experience to the full’, he explains.

All this is possible thanks to fact that the twelve professionals in the Arabella caddy masters team know the courses like the back of their hand, and have a genuine passion for what they do: ‘we all pull together with the ultimate objective of making players happy’, asserts Lorite. At the same time, he admits that ‘the most important thing for players to enjoy their favourite sport is that the installations are excellent, and that is a given at Arabella Golf Mallorca’.

Unsere wichtigste Aufgabe ist jedoch, alles für ein maximales Golferlebnis unserer Gäste zu tun“, erläutert der erfahrene Caddy Master. Für die zwölf Profis des Caddy Master Teams sind die hohen Ansprüche an ihre Arbeit kein Problem, kennen sie die Golfplätze doch wie ihre Westentasche. “La Academia de Arabella me hizo enamorarme del golf”

¿Como definirias tu momento deportivo actual? Acabo de pasar un año estudiando y jugando al golf en Estados Unidos, y estoy encantado. Allí mi juego ha madurado, mi manera de ver el golf ha cambiado y me siento un jugador mucho más sólido. Ahora mismo estoy en el punto más alto de mi carrera deportiva y espero que siga creciendo. ¿Cómo fue tu experiencia en la Academia de Arabella Golf, y qué aprendiste? Su proximidad al centro de Palma, sus buenas instalaciones y sus grandes profesores me impulsaron a inscribirme. Allí he hecho muchos amigos, he mejorado mucho y he disfrutado. La Academia ha permitido que mi golf se desarrollara adecuadamente y que me enamorase de este deporte. Además, me enseñó a ser autodidacta, a saber corregirme solo y a no depender de nadie. ¿Que te parecen los diferentes campos de Arabella: Son Muntaner, Son Vida y Son Quint? El resort de golf de Arabella es perfecto. Ofrecer cuatro campos pegados el uno al otro es una maravilla, ya que te permite poder variar de campo en el que jugar y no acostumbrarte a la monotonía de uno solo. Los cuatro campos están todo el año en buenas condiciones y Arabella se encarga de su constante mejora. Me gustan mucho los cuatro campos y son muy agradables de jugar, ya que son distintos. Unos más cortos, unos más movidos, unos más difíciles, pero todos muy completos.

How would you define your present sporting moment? I just spent a year studying and playing golf in the United States, and I am delighted. My game matured a lot there, my way of seeing golf changed and I feel like a much more solid player. Right now, I am at the zenith of my sporting career and I hope to carry on growing.

How was your experience at the Arabella Golf Academy, and what did you learn there? Its proximity to the centre of Palma, the good installations it offers and the great instructors were what inspired me to enrol. I made many friends there, and I improved and had a great time. The Academy has enabled my golf to develop properly and allowed me to fall in love with this sport. Also, it taught me to self-educate, to know how to correct myself on my own and not depend on anyone.

What do you think of the different Arabella courses: Son Muntaner, Son Vida and Son Quint? The Arabella golf resort is perfect. The offer of four courses right next to one another is wonderful, as it means you can vary the courses you play on and not become accustomed to the monotony of just one. The four courses are in a good condition all year round and Arabella sees to it that they are constantly improved.

I really like all four courses and they are extremely pleasant to play on, as they are different. Some are shorter, some are faster, some more difficult, but all of them are very complete.

An welchem Punkt Deiner Sportlerkarriere stehst Du momentan? Ich habe gerade ein Jahr in den USA studiert und Golf gespielt und bin begeistert. In den Staaten ist meine Spieltechnik gereift, ich habe jetzt einen anderen Blickwinkel auf den Golfsport und bin als Spieler stabiler, solider geworden. Im Moment stehe ich am bisher höchsten Punkt meiner Karriere und ich hoffe, dass es weiter aufwärts geht.

Welche Erfahrungen hast Du in der Arabella Golf Academy gesammelt, was hast Du gelernt? Ich habe mich an der Golfschule angemeldet, weil die Nähe zu Palmas Stadtzentrum und die guten Golfplätze attraktiv für mich waren. Außerdem genießen die Golflehrer einen hervorragenden Ruf. Dort habe ich viele Freunde gefunden, meine Spieltechnik erheblich verbessern können und viel Spaß gehabt. Dank der Akademie habe ich mich für den Golfsport begeistert und konnte mein Spiel adäquat entwickeln. Außerdem habe ich gelernt, Autodidakt zu sein, mich selbst zu korrigieren und von niemandem abhängig zu sein.

Wie bewertest Du die vier Plätze der Arabella Son Muntaner, Son Vida und Son Quint? Das Arabella Golfresort ist einfach perfekt. Den Spielern stehen vier nebeneinander liegende Golfplätze zur Verfügung, das ist wunderbar. So kannst du ständig variieren und gewöhnst dich nicht an die Monotonie eines einzigen Platzes. Alle vier Plätze bieten das ganze Jahr über exzellente Spielbedingungen und Arabella setzt kontinuierlich Verbesserungen um. Mir gefallen die vier Plätze sehr, sie sind gut bespielbar und unterscheiden sich in der Länge ihrer Bahnen und Schnelligkeit sowie bezüglich ihres Schwierigkeitsgrades.

Aber alle vier sind rundum komplett.

In his debut in the university competition in the USA, Mallorcan golfer Víctor Mirón – who studied at the Arabella Golf Academy – was named best player of his conference (SAC Freshman of the Year), after competing in 9 tournaments with a 73-stroke average. The young player adds this new success to his career after the silver at the Spanish Under 16 Championship (2015), and the gold in the Balearic Islands Amateur Championship (2016) and the Balearic Islands Under 25 Championship (2017), along with other prizes.

n nuestro deseo por mejorar día a día la experiencia de los usuarios en nuestros campos de golf, Arabella Golf Mallorca ha estrenado recientemente una flota de 45 nuevos buggies eléctricos para ponerlos a disposición de los jugadores de Golf Son Muntaner.

Los nuevos vehículos de la marca Club Car, con cargador USB, tienen una capacidad de dos plazas y un motor de 48V DC que les permite alcanzar una velocidad máxima de 30,6 km/h. Cuentan con 6 baterías de 8V que se recargan gracias a un algoritmo inteligente, lo que permite que estén listos para ser usados cuando sea necesario. Su ligero chasis de aluminio favorece una cómoda conducción y su capota garantiza el máximo confort a bordo.

EW SMART BUGGIES. In our desire to improve users’ experience on our golf courses day by day, Arabella Golf Mallorca has recently started using a fleet of 45 brand new electric buggies in order to place them at the disposal of players in Golf Son Muntaner.

The new Club Car brand vehicles, which have USB chargers, are two seaters and have a 48V DC motor that allows them to reach a maximum speed of 30.6 km/hr. The buggies are fitted with 6 x 8V batteries that are charged using a smart algorithm so that they can be used whenever necessary. Their light, aluminium chassis facilitates comfortable driving and the canopy top guarantees maximum comfort on board.

n nuestro decidido compromiso con el medio ambiente y la sostenibilidad, acabamos de inaugurar recientemente una estación de carga de vehículos eléctricos en el parking de Golf Son Muntaner. La estación cuenta con dos puntos de carga para dos vehículos.

Arabella Golf Mallorca se alinea con las necesidades de sus usuarios, con la convicción de que los vehículos híbridos y eléctricos representan el futuro de la movilidad, siendo una más de las soluciones al desafío medioambiental al que se enfrenta el planeta.

Aunque actualmente este tipo de vehículos representa un 0,2 % del parque mundial, con más de 2 millones de unidades, su crecimiento es vertiginoso, con incrementos de ventas mundiales superiores al 50%.

ARKING FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES. As part of our firm commitment to the environment and sustainability, we recently inaugurated an electric vehicle charging station in the car park of Golf Son Muntaner. The station has two charging outlets with capacity for two vehicles.

With this initiative, Arabella Golf Mallorca adjusts to the needs of its users, in the conviction that hybrid and electric vehicles represent the future of mobility, and indeed are another solution to the environmental challenges the planet faces.

Although these vehicles currently represent just 0.2% of all those in the world – with over 2 million in circulation – the growth rate is dramatic, with increases in global sales topping 50%.

ARKPLATZ FÜR ELEKTROAUTOS. Im Rahmen unseres Engagements für Umweltschutz und Nachhaltigkeit haben wir kürzlich auf dem Parkplatz des Golfclubs Son Muntaner eine Ladestation für Elektroautos eingeweiht, die über zwei Ladeplätze für je ein Fahrzeug verfügt.

Mit dieser Initiative reagiert Arabella Golf Mallorca auf den Bedarf der Mitglieder und Gäste. Die Unternehmensgruppe ist überzeugt, das Elektro- und Hybrid-Fahrzeuge die Mobilität der Zukunft und eine weitere Lösung für die Umweltprobleme sind, denen sich unsere Erde gegenübersieht.

Asimismo, Son Muntaner ha renovado su certificado EMAS, fruto del ambicioso proyecto que arrancó en 2016, con medidas como la instalación en la casa club de dispositivos orientados al ahorro de consumo eléctrico y agua; y en el campo, la gestión de residuos peligros, el uso de combustibles menos contaminantes para maquinaria, la reducción del uso de productos fitosanitarios, el uso de agua reciclada para el riego del campo y, la siembra de la hierba Bermuda Celebration, que permite una significativa reducción de consumo de agua y de productos químicos.

OMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT. The courses of Son Muntaner, Son Vida, Son Quint and Son Quint Pitch + Putt have proven yet another year that their environmental management system continues to meet all the requirements demanded by the strict regulation governing them by renewing their ISO 14001 certificates.

Son Muntaner meanwhile has renewed its EMAS certificate, the result of an ambitious project that began in 2016 with steps like the installation in the clubhouse of devices designed to save on electricity and water consumption; and on the course, the management of hazardous waste, use of less polluting fuels for machinery, reduction in the use of phytosanitary products, the use of recycled water for the course, and the planting of Bermuda Celebration grass, making for a significant decrease in the consumption of water and chemical products.

NGAGEMENT FÜR UMWELTSCHUTZ. Auch in diesem Jahr haben die Golfplätze Son Muntaner, Son Vida, Son Quint und Son Quint Pitch + Putt die strengen Auflagen und Normvorschriften im Umweltmanagement erfüllt und erneut die Zertifikate ISO 14001 erhalten.

Dem Golfplatz Son Muntaner wurde ebenfalls wieder das Gütesiegel EMAS verliehen, dank des ehrgeizigen, 2016 gestarteten Modernisierungsprojektes, das, unter anderem, den Einbau energie- und wassersparender Anlagen im Clubhaus vorsieht. Auch auf dem Golfplatz wurden zahlreiche Maßnahmen umgesetzt: Management gefährlicher Abfälle; Benutzung von Kraftstoff für den Maschinenpark, der die Umwelt weniger belastet; Reduzierung von Pflanzenschutzmitteln; Bewässerung des Golfplatzes mit gereinigtem Abwasser sowie die Aussaat der Rasensorte Bermuda Celebration, dank der der Verbrauch von Wasser und chemischen Produkten erheblich verringert werden konnte.

no de los aspectos menos conocidos de los campos de golf es la gran variedad de fauna que albergan, al favorecer un hábitat apto para diferentes tipos de especies, que conviven en armonía con los golfistas. En este aspecto, las aves ocupan un lugar privilegiado en el ecosistema de los campos de Arabella Golf Mallorca, donde podemos avistar ejemplares de mirlo, zorzal, paloma, cernícalo, abubilla, verderón, pinzón, gorrión, perdices y cormoranes, entre otros. Asimismo, la presencia de lagos y humedales ofrece las condiciones idóneas para aves acuáticas como la focha, la garza o el calamón, así como de anfibios como la rana o peces de agua dulce como la carpa. La cercanía del mar facilita también la visita frecuente de gaviotas.

OLF AND FAUNA. One of the lesser-known aspects of golf courses is the wide variety of fauna they contain, since they favour a habitat that is suitable for different types of species which live in harmony with golfers. In this regard, birds occupy a privileged place in the ecosystem of the Arabella Golf Mallorca courses, where one can spot specimens of the common blackbird, the song thrush, the pigeon, the common kestrel, the Eurasian hoopoe, the European greenfinch, the common chaffinch, the house sparrow, the partridge and the cormorant, among

AUNA & GOLF. Die vielfältigen Tierarten, die ein Golfplatz beherbergt, ist ein weniger bekannter Vorzug. Ein Golfplatz bietet unterschiedlichen Spezies den idealen Lebensraum, wo sie in Harmonie mit den Golfspielern leben. In diesem Kontext kommt der Gattung der Vögel eine privilegierte Rolle in den Ökosystemen der Plätze der Arabella Golf Mallorca zu. Hier kann man u.a. Amseln, Drosseln, Tauben, Turmfalken, Wiedehopfe, Grün- und Buchfinken, Sperlinge, Rebhühner und Kormorane sichten. Seen und Feuchtgebiete bieten beste Lebensbedingungen für Wasservögel (Blässhühner, Reiher, Purpurhühner), Lurche (Frösche) und Süßwasserfische (Karpfen). Durch die Nähe zum Meer fühlen sich auch Möwen hier heimisch. „Zu Land“ sind die Golfplätze ein komfortabler Habitat für Kaninchen und kleine Reptilien, wie Geckos. Bei den Insekten finden sich die Europäische Maulwurfsgrille und vor allem Bienen, die für die Bestäubung der Pflanzen und damit für den Erhalt des natürlichen Lebenszyklus unerlässlich sind.

El golf mejora el ciclo del agua

a Asociación de Campos de Golf de Baleares y la Federación Balear de Golf han emitido un comunicado conjunto ante las noticias publicadas acerca de campos de golf que incumplen la normativa del Plan Hidrológico de Baleares de 2015, que establece que los campos de golf únicamente pueden usar aguas residuales regeneradas y/o desaladas.

Ambas entidades lamentan “que algún campo de golf haya incumplido la normativa en vigor”, dejando claro que se trata de casos puntuales que no representan a la práctica totalidad de los campos de Baleares.

Por otro lado, argumentan que “la mayoría de estaciones depuradoras presenta un déficit de capacidad de depuración o un estado de obsolescencia que no está acorde a las necesidades y exigencias actuales, lo que provoca que los vertidos (se estima que más de la mitad del agua depurada se sigue vertiendo al mar) no tengan el nivel de depuración adecuada, causando graves problemas en uno de los mejores activos de nuestras islas, sus playas y sus aguas”. En este punto, subrayan que los 21 campos de golf de Mallorca utilizan unos 6.000.000 de m3 de agua depurada para el riego, evitando su vertido al mar y facilitando, al mismo tiempo, la mejora en la regeneración de los acuíferos y, a la postre, la mejoría del ciclo de vida del agua.

OLF IMPROVES THE WATER CYCLE. The Association of Balearic Golf Courses and the Balearic Golf Federation have issued a joint communiqué in the face of the news published on golf courses which fail to comply with the 2015 Hydrological Plan of the Balearic Islands, which establishes that golf courses may only use desalinated and/ or regenerated wastewater.

Both bodies say it is regrettable ‘that one or two golf courses have not complied with current regulations’, making it clear that these are isolated cases which do not represent virtually all the other courses on the Balearic Islands.

Furthermore, they argue that ‘most sewage treatment plants have a deficit in terms of treatment capacity, or are in such an obsolete state that they are unable to keep up with today’s needs and demands, which means that the wastewater that is discharged (it is estimated that over half of treated water is still dumped in the sea) is not sufficiently treated, causing serious problems to one of our islands’ best assets, their beaches and seawater’. In this regard, they stress the fact that Mallorca’s 21 golf courses use around 6,000,000 m3 of treated water for irrigation, preventing it from being dumped in the sea and at the same time facilitating a regeneration of the aquifers and ultimately, the improvement of the water life cycle.

OLF VERBESSERT DEN WASSERKREISLAUF. Anlässlich der Nachricht, dass einige Golfplätze die Normen des Wasserplans der Balearen nicht einhalten, die vorschreiben, dass Golfplätze nur mit wiederaufbereitetem und/oder entsalztem Wasser bewässert werden dürfen, haben der Verein der Balearischen Golfplätze und der Balearische Golfverband ein gemeinsames Kommuniqué herausgegeben.

Beide Vereinigungen bedauern, „dass der ein oder andere Golfplatz gegen geltende Vorschriften verstoßen hat“, erklären jedoch zugleich, dass es sich dabei um Einzelfälle handele, die keinesfalls für die herrschende Praxis auf allen Balearischen Golfplätzen stehe.

Darüber hinaus argumentieren Verein und Verband, dass „die Mehrzahl der Kläranlagen überaltet ist, nicht über ausreichende Kapazität verfügt und dementsprechend weder die aktuellen Anforderungen noch den Bedarf abdecken kann. Daher wird das Abwasser (nach Schätzungen wird mehr als die Hälfte des gereinigten Abwassers ins Meer geleitet) nicht ausreichend gereinigt, was schwere Schäden bei einem der besten Aktiva unserer Inseln, nämlich den Stränden und Gewässern, verursacht.“ In diesem Kontext betonen die beiden Vereinigungen, dass 21 Golfplätze Mallorcas rund sechs Millionen Kubikmeter gereinigtes Abwasser für die Bewässerung verwenden und so dessen Einleitung ins Meer verhindern und gleichzeitig zur Regenerierung des Grundwasservorkommens beitragen. Letztendlich wird dadurch der Wasserkreislauf verbessert.

os movimientos que se realizan al jugar a golf involucran fundamentalmente a los músculos del tronco, especialmente la espalda, la cintura, el tórax y el abdomen. Con este deporte, y en virtud de los movimientos rotatorios que su práctica requiere, dichos músculos se tonifican y ganan flexibilidad.

Es muy saludable para la espalda, pero solo si golpeamos con una técnica correcta, ya que una mala posición o una incorrecta ejecución pueden lastimarnos dado lo repetitivo y brusco de ciertos movimientos.

Para evitar daños, además de depurar la técnica, es imprescindible calentar y estirar antes de jugar. En este punto, mantener isquiotibiales y psoas trabajados y flexibles es muy importante porque evita la rigidez de la pelvis, potencialmente dañina al golpear.

OLF IS GOOD FOR YOUR BACK. The movements one makes when playing golf basically involve the muscles of the trunk, and in particular the back, waist, thorax and abdomen.

In playing this sport, and by virtue of the rotatory movements practising it calls for, these muscles are toned and gain flexibility.

It is very healthy for the back, but only if one hits using the correct technique, as a poor posture or incorrect execution can cause harm, given how repetitive and abrupt certain movements are.

To prevent injury, and also to perfect technique, it is essential to warm up and stretch before playing.

At this point, keeping the ischiotibial and psoas muscles in shape and flexible is extremely important because this avoids rigidity in the pelvis, which could be harmful during shots.

OLFSPORT STÄRKT DEM SPIELER DEN RÜCKEN. Bei den Bewegungen, die man während einer Golfrunde ausführt, werden hauptsächlich die Muskeln des Rumpfes, besonders des Rückens, sowie der Taille, des Brustkorbes und des Abdomens beansprucht.

Das Golfspiel und die Drehbewegungen beim Schwung kräftigen die Muskeln und erhöhen deren Flexibilität. Golfsport ist demnach sehr gesund für den Rücken, natürlich nur, wenn der Spieler die korrekte Schlagtechnik beherrscht. Eine schlechte Körperhaltung oder Spieltechnik bergen aufgrund der wiederholten, teilweise schnellen Bewegungen ein Verletzungsrisiko.

Zur Vorbeugung von Verletzungen dient zum einen die Perfektionierung der Spieltechnik, zum anderen sind Aufwärm- und Dehnübungen vor der Golfrunde unverzichtbar. In diesem Kontext sollte man die rückseitige Oberschenkelmuskulatur und den großen Lendenmuskel trainieren und geschmeidig halten – eine wichtige Voraussetzung, um die Flexibilität der Beckenbodenmuskulatur zu erhalten, da es sonst bei der Ausführung der Schläge zu Verletzungen kommen kann.

l 13 de Golf Son Quint es un hoyo PAR 5 estrecho, donde el jugador con pegada tiene que tener cuidado con el palo que escoge, sobre todo de segundo golpe.

En primer lugar, con el golpe de salida lo más aconsejable es apoyarse al bunker de la izquierda sin llegar a él.

En cuanto al segundo golpe, en caso de que se quiera llevar a cabo un juego conservador, conviene tirar en medio de la calle. Si se quiere arriesgar (solo recomendable para pegadores), hay que tirar por encima de las matas de la izquierda, aunque no es aconsejable ya que la calle es muy estrecha, con estacas rojas a la derecha y matas a la izquierda. Si, por el contrario, se elige la opción conservadora, para el tercer golpe lo mejor es apoyarse un poco por la izquierda, ya que el green está protegido por un bunker corto a la derecha.

HE SECRETS OF HOLE 13. Hole 13 of Golf Son Quint is a narrow PAR-5 hole in which players with punch need to be careful about which club they choose, especially for the second stroke.

Firstly, the most advisable course of action with the first shot is to use the bunker on the left without reaching it.

On the second shot, meanwhile, if you want to play conservatively, the best idea to hit towards the middle of the fairway. If you want to be more daring (recommended only for long hitters), you should aim above the clumps on the left, although this is not a very good idea as the fairway is extremely narrow, with red stakes on the right and clumps of vegetation on the left. If, on the other hand, you plump for the more conservative option, for the third stroke it is best to veer left a little, as the green is protected by a short bunker on the right.

IE GEHEIMNISSE VON BAHN 13. Die Bahn 13 auf dem Golfplatz Son Quint ist ein enges PAR 5, bei dem schlagfreudige Spieler genau auf die Auswahl des Schlägers achten müssen, vor allem beim zweiten Schlag.

Beim Abschlag sollte man den Bunker auf der linken Seite anpeilen, jedoch ohne diesem zu nahe zu kommen. Wer beim zweiten Schlag eher auf eine konservative Spieltechnik setzt, sollte die Mitte der Bahn anspielen. Schlagfreudige Spieler, die das Risiko nicht scheuen, müssen den Ball über die Büsche linker Hand schlagen, obwohl dies aufgrund der Enge der Bahn mit roten Pfählen auf der rechten und Büschen auf der linken Seite eher nicht empfehlenswert ist. Wer die konservative Technik gewählt hat, sollte sich beim dritten Schlag etwas links halten, da das Grün über die rechte Seite des Fairways durch einen Bunker geschützt ist.

l Restaurante Son Vida estrena en septiembre nueva carta, con el objetivo de adaptarse a las necesidades y gustos de sus clientes. “En este restaurante conviven dos tipos de clientes: los jugadores de golf y los vecinos de la urbanización”, explica su chef ejecutivo, Carlos Sánchez.

“Ello da lugar a un perfil más casual que requiere una oferta gastronómica más centrada en las tapas y los platos para compartir”, señala. Tablas de embutidos ibéricos, huevos rotos, fritura de bacalao con alioli y pimentón o espárragos blancos con trempó son algunas de las especialidades que se podrán degustar a partir de septiembre en el restaurante. También se ha ampliado la oferta de vinos por copas, con referencias como el blanco Dos Claveles, un sorpendente Pedro Ximénez fresco, o el tinto La Traca, el primer vino de pago del Mediterráneo, concretamente de El Terrazo (Utiel).

Daher hat unsere Karte ein legereres Profil, das mehr auf Tapas und Gerichte zum Teilen ausgerichtet ist“, erläutert Chefkoch Carlos Sánchez. Iberischen Wurstsorten, „zerbrochene Eier“, fritierter Kabeljau mit Alioli und Paprika, oder weißen Spargel mit Trempó-Salat sind nur einige der Spezialitäten, die man ab September im Restaurant probieren kann. MOUTH-WATERING. Discovering Mallorca’s rich gastronomy is a good way of immersing oneself in the local culture, with delicious traditional specialities like frit mallorquí (offal with vegetables), snails, arròs brut (rice with meat and vegetables in broth), porcella (roast suckling pig) or pa amb oli (bread with oil and tomato topped with cold meats and/or cheeses). Although in summer in particular, it is the local fish that deserves a special mention, with varieties such as John Dory, cap roig (red scorpionfish) or raors (pearly razorfish), as well as red prawns from Sóller.

POPUL AR FIESTA S. In summer most of the villages on the island hold colourful patron saints’ festivities, with concerts, shows and activities for all.

lo largo de la primera mitad de este año, los campos de Arabella Golf Mallorca han registrado varios “hoyos en uno”, a cuál más espectacular. En primer lugar, Johan Hultner, abonado de Arabella Golf Mallorca, se apuntó un ‘hole in one’ en el hoyo 7 de Golf Son Muntaner el pasado 25 de febrero.

Por su parte, el también abonado Leif Gunnar Englund hizo lo propio en el hoyo 5 de Golf Son Muntaner el 27 de mayo. Finalmente, Peder Christensen hizo un “hoyo en uno” en el número 8 de Golf Son Vida el día 30 de abril, y Pam Gardner el 22 de junio en el hoyo 12 de Golf Son Vida.

ver the first half of this year the courses of Arabella Golf Mallorca have recorded several holes in one, each more spectacular than the last. First of all Johan Hultner, a member of Arabella Golf Mallorca, notched up a hole in one at hole 7 of Golf Son Muntaner on 25th February last. Later, another member, Leif Gunnar Englund did the same at hole 5 of Golf Son Muntaner on 27th May. Zunächst konnte Johan Hultner, Mitglied der Arabella Golf Mallorca, am 25. Februar auf Bahn 7 des Golfplatzes Golf Son Muntaner ein „hole in one“ verbuchen. Leif Gunnar Englund, ebenfalls Mitglied, gelang der „Ritterschlag“ am 27. Mai auf Bahn 5 auf Golf Son Muntaner. Peder Christensen, schaffte am 30. April auf Bahn 8 auf dem Golfplatz Golf Son Vida ein „hole in one“ und Pam Gardner am 22.

íctor del Pozo (play off) y Jordan Fischer son los nuevos Campeones de Baleares de Pitch + Putt sub21, que se disputó en Executive Son Quint los días 21 y 22 de abril. Se trata de una novedad en el calendario juvenil muy bien acogida en el ámbito golfístico balear.

This is a new event on the juvenile calendar, and one which has met with a very warm reception in Balearic golf spheres.

A total of 110 players took part, of whom the Scratch winner was Gero Walther; the first classified player in the 1st Category Gentlemen was Luis Herrero; in 2nd Category Gentlemen, Davide Isella; in Ladies, Elaine Pearson; the winner in the Foreign Licence category was Wolfgang Thiele; the Junior winner was Fabian Hemerlin, and the Senior winner was Axel Gohl.

Der Verein gehört in diesem Jahr zu den Begünstigten des Solidaritätsprogramms 12 unter Par – eine Initiative zur gesellschaftlichen Mitverantwortung der Arabella Unternehmensgruppe, die alle Solidaritätsaktionen, die auf den Golfplätzen Son Quint, Son Vida und Son Muntaner stattfinden, koordiniert, um den von Arabella erwirtschafteten Gewinn in der Gesellschaft zu investieren, der folgenden Vereinen zugute kommt: Associació Down i Més, Ángeles Sin Alas Balears, Respiralia, Dentistas Sobre Ruedas, Mallorca Sense Fam, Sonrisa Médica, Associació d’Ajuda a l’Acompanyant del Malalt (ADAA), Fundación Dime, Associació Tardor, Banco de Alimentos, Asociación Civil Siloé und Aspanob.
