Shena Haskins How many years at ISA: I have been at ISA for 12yrs. What roles have you had at ISA: I have been a help desk agent, helped with the BA, performed training sessions, and Customer Service Rep. What is your favorite part of working at ISA: My favorite part of working at ISA is connecting with the callers. You have some that have a real genuine heart and they are grateful that someone is on the other end to assist them whether it ’s real early in the morning or late at night. Do you have any stand out moments from your time here: I don’t have any stand out moments but I do remember a time I had a caller that called in for prayer. She was going through something that I felt like I could relate to. I prayed for her and we both shed tears. I felt a genuine connection with her and she kept thanking me for just being there for her and that reminded me of my reason/purpose in life . What does your life outside of ISA look like: I am a very family-oriented person so I love and cherish the moments and time I spend with my family and friends. I love shopping, taking trips, baking and helping with my church youth . I am a part of a women’s group called “We Are One” where we inspire each other. Anyone that really knows me knows that my pride and joy is my daughter DeMariya who is 9yrs old . She keeps me busy with school activities, shopping :) and cheerleading. I thank God that he chose me to be her mother because she is truly my inspiration .

M I N I M U M Have you ever received the “bare” minimum? What if God gave us His “bare” minimum? You should never want or give someone the “bare” minimum. The “bare” minimum is just enough to get by. You don’t want to receive the “bare” minimum so in return you shouldn’t want to give the “bare” minimum. Everyone wants to feel important and everyone is important. When you represent a ministry you should represent them to the fullest. Educate yourself about them and what they want to achieve for their constituent base. When you are knowledgeable and show you care, the person on the other end of the phone is more wil ing to give in all aspects. When you speak to the caller you should be able to give them beyond the “bare” minimum. I challenge everyone to excel, to soar to new heights when handling calls. Being knowledgeable than the “bare” minimum on the call. You should want to see yourself growing so that others wil want to grow as well.
Loving God, Yourself & Others by Joyce Meyer
Love requires action. It's not a thing we try to get for ourselves, but instead is an action we express to others through sharing and serving. Because love is an action, I believe there are three different forms of love God has instructed us to demonstrate, or "live out." Each one needs to be in balance so they can work together. As you read on, consider whether each one is well-balanced in your life or needs some adjustments. #1 Loving God Deuteronomy 6:5 says, And you shall love the Lord your God with all your [mind and] heart and with your entire being and with all your might. In the New Testament, Jesus repeats this command and even points it out as the most important commandment of all (as well as loving your neighbor as yourself). So, how do you express love for God? By telling God, "I love You"? Singing praises to Him? These are good things, but they only scratch the surface. We show God we love Him through obedience because actions definitely speak louder than words. I believe our level of obedience grows as we get to know and experience His love, goodness and faithfulness in our lives. Our desire to follow and obey the Lord's commandments increases as we increase our love of God. #2 Loving Yourself When Jesus talked about the greatest commandment of all, He quoted Deuteronomy 6:5 and said we are to love God with all our heart. But He also added the second greatest commandment: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. (See Mark 12:31.)

There's something important here that I think people often miss: You cannot give away something you don't have in you. How can someone love another person if they don't love themselves? “ You cannot give away something you don't have in you. ” We all need to accept ourselves, embrace our personalities and even our imperfections, knowing that although we are not where we need to be, we are making progress. Jesus died for us because we have weaknesses and imperfections, and we don't have to reject ourselves because of them. God wants us to love ourselves and enjoy how He's made us! #3 Loving Others We know that we have passed over out of death into Life by the fact that we love the brethren (our fellow Christians). He who does not love abides (remains, is held and kept continually) in [spiritual] death (1 John 3:14). Life, in this verse, is the life of God or "life as God has it." I don't want to be one of what I call "the walking dead"─someone who lives and breathes but never truly lives as God desires. Loving others is the only way to keep the God-kind of life flowing through you. God's love is a gift to us; it's in us, but we need to release it to others through words and actions. Left dormant, it will stagnate like a pool of water with no outlet. The act of loving others is one of the most exhilarating things I have experienced. I feel excitement stirring in my spirit and soul when I plan to do something to make someone else feel loved and cared for. You can experience the same exhilaration just by "loving out loud." Here's a challenge: Think of three people you know who could really use a gesture of God's love. Then think of creative ways you can express His love to these people, and do it. I guarantee you will feel a wonderful sense of fulfillment and joy afterward. How You Can Continue to Grow in Love If you will devote yourself to developing your love walk in these three areas, you will experience a huge amount of blessings in your life. I encourage you to seek God about this and ask the Holy Spirit to help you grow in your love toward Jesus, yourself and others. He will help you overcome anything that might hinder you in the process. Remember, God is love. And He loves you. This article is taken from Joyce's devotional, Love Out Loud.
10 Basic Customer Service Reminders by Jane White
Below are 10 basic customer service reminders that you should use on every phone call to ensure that you are giving great customer service.
Be a DOUBLE CHECKER
Learn to use those words when talking with a client. Everyone loves it when you double check something for them. Even if you’re pretty sure the item is out of stock or the appointment is filled or there’s no room available, it sounds so good to hear, “Let me double check that for you.”
PRETEND IT'S YOU
When you're working with a customer, on the phone, and they need something, pretend it's you. What would you want to have happen? What would make you happy? What would make you satisfied? Here's a great place to remember the golden rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." 14 • Employee Stay Connected
GET INVOLVED
Let your customer know you're on their team. When processing a purchase for someone, mention how great their choice is. If you're helping someone with a series of some sort get excited with them. When customers feel as though you're part of the package, they love it.
STAY FOCUSED
If you're on the phone, eye contact is definitely difficult. We can, however, learn to stay focused on the phone. Don't type unless it pertains to what you are doing. Don't read something while you're on the phone with a customer ... STAY FOCUSED on the caller. We need to stay focused without eye contact. Eye contact is critical in delivering excellent customer service. Heads that turn on a spindle and look everywhere but at the customer get very few good marks in customer service. Eye contact shows you are listening. Employee Stay Connected • 15
SHOW YOUR TEETH
(In Telephone Doctor language that means to smile.) There are many people who think they're smiling, but aren't. So Telephone Doctor's motto is: SHOW YOUR TEETH. Smiling is one of the best customer service techniques there is. It's so frustrating to walk into a store, or call some place and not see or hear a smile. And, yes, you can hear a smile!
ASK QUESTIONS
A super way to offer superior customer service is to ASK QUESTIONS. Build on what the customer is talking about. Listen for one or two words that you can ask something about. Even a simple, "Tell me more," will work. Once the customer is talking, you will be able to help them much better.
USE COMPLETE SENTENCES
One word answers are semi-useless in customer service. And one word answers are definitely perceived as RUDE. "Yes," "no," and the like, tell the customer "I'm not really interested in you or what you need."
16 • Employee Stay Connected
CARE
Most people have what Telephone Doctor calls the CARE GENE. Some of us use it more than others. We just forget we have it. Learn to CARE what your customer's needs are. CARE what they are referring to. CARE about your customers and they will take CARE of you.
LAUGH
Laughter will lighten the load. Everyone likes to laugh. Some even in the darkest moments. Take the time to laugh and enjoy your customers.
Put any one of these Telephone Doctor customer service skills and techniques tips into action and watch what happens. They intertwine with each other and make customer service special. Use all ten methods of customer service and expect more business. Employee Stay Connected • 17

Cowboy Thoughts: Ole’ Bob had worked the ranch all his life. His hands were knarled and his face wrinkled, but he was still tough enough to work a full day. We all respected his many pearls of wisdom that occasionally came out of his mouth. One morning he drawled. "It seems that a lot of people never realize how little water it takes to make good coffee." “That's the problem with the walk with a lot of folk; their walk with the Lord is just like weak coffee. It is not robust or aromatic. This ole’ cowboy doesn't care much for "brown gargle," or coffee that tasted like it had been scalded to death. Life is much that way, the Lord doesn't care much for those lives who are stale and lukewarm.”

What the Bible Says on Love
Q: How can we love people who aren't even very likeable? I remember that Jesus told us to love everyone, but that's impossible, isn't it? A: You’re right when you say that Jesus told us to love others — including those who aren’t particularly likeable. He said, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another” (John 13:34). Why did Jesus command us to love others? The reason is because God loves them, in spite of their faults — and He wants us to have the same kind of love for others that He has. Think about this for a moment. The Bible says God loves the whole world — and yet for the most part the world isn’t very lovable. In fact, the world is filled with people who don’t want anything to do with God, and are living in sin and rebellion against Him. And yet God still loves them. How do we know this? We know it because God sent His Son into the world to give His life for us and call us back to Himself. If God didn’t love the world, He wouldn’t have bothered to send Christ into the world. But He did — out of His love for us. As the best-known verse in the Bible says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Have you responded to God’s love by giving your life to Christ? If not — or if you aren’t sure — turn to Him in repentance and faith, and receive Him into your life today. Then ask God to help you begin seeing others through His eyes, and to love them even as He loves them.

And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men . . . —1 Thessalonians 3:12 One of the growing psychological problems facing people today is loneliness. One of the greatest ministries that a person can have today is just being a good listener. Many people are longing not only to be loved but to have someone who will listen to them. When we love God with all our hearts, then we have the capacity to love our neighbor. The greatest need in the world today is not more science, not more social engineering, not more teaching, not more knowledge, not more power, not even more preaching-the greatest need we have today is for love. And the only way that love can be supplied is by a supernatural act of the Holy Spirit that transforms lives. The love that God gives is not the ordinary love that we find in the world today. When we love our neighbors, it is not our loving with natural love, it is God loving through us. If you are willing to do this, God will give you His love.

Let love be your greatest aim . . . —1 Corinthians 14:1 (TLB) What about love? How can you be certain you’re in love? I suggest these simple measures that you can apply to yourself. Is your love patient? Is it considerate? Can it wait until marriage for physical fulfillment? Experience says that true love’s patience is inexhaustible. True love does not assert itself, claim rights, or demand privileges. It always thinks first of the other person. The biblical phrase is it “is not selfseeking.” True love never thinks evil of the beloved. It is never suspicious, but always supportive and inspiring. True love bears all things. Nothing weakens or undermines it. It is a rock, an anchor, a foundation for all the years to come. These simple tests are a mirror that millions have used. Physiologists, psychiatrists, and marriage counselors attest their validity. They were first recommended almost two thousand years ago by a man named Paul, in 1 Corinthians, chapter 13. That chapter provides the finest definition of love the world has received.

“Love to me is….Well love is obviously loyalty, unconditional, expressive, emotional and spiritual bonding and honesty, but love is not giving up completely of who you are in order to make someone else whole. I believe that God has a design for love and if we follow the design that He has laid out for us then I believe we have less headaches and less confusion on what love is. Today the world is so confused on what his design is for us and how we love, but God displayed love beautifully

“My love is….. accepting someone with all of their flaws and still being able to love on them no matter what.
“Love to me is, well to me its not just an emotion. Emotions can be confused by our mind set. Anything can alter your emotions, cause you to act on impulse. Love cant be altered. It cant be changed by a simple action. Love is endless, it has no boundaries. True love lies deep inside, like a treasure in our soul. It can only be unlocked by those we allow to gain access. I don’t believe love resides from within the heart. The heart can die, while your soul will live on. It should be protected yet at the same time shared. There are multiple types of love. The love you would die for and love you would kill for. The best love aside of those we share with others is self love. You have to love yourself before you can love anyone else. I know for me that I met the true definition of loving someone when my son was born. I can’t describe to you in words how I felt that September Wed afternoon at 3:11 p.m. when I looked into his eyes for the first time. It was that kill for love tied in with that die for you love. That type of love can never be replicated. Its a once in a life time love. Now before you start thinking “Well I’m in love with my other half and that’s once in a life time”! Hear me out. I have never personally been IN LOVE. That’s where the confusion for most comes in. You can love and not be in love. For me there is a thick line there that separates the two. There are so many types of love that it can be difficult to differ between each one. As I said before, love is a treasure of the soul. Be gentle and love everyone in some type of way, let love shine through in all that you do.
Love is….. unconditional at all times.” - Jane White

“LOVE TO ME IS “Love to me is John 3:16, Love is having Jesus in my heart. LOve is telling others about Jesus and about the end times because I truly believe we are in the end times and want to lead souls to heaven. Love is praying for others. True Love is unconditional. When you use 100% of your heart. It’s love when you can forgive and forget what a person did to you. It’s love when you don’t carry a grudge in your heart. Love is when my daughter woke me one night crying that she had gotten saved . Love is when I held my children in my arms for the first time and thanked the Lord for them. Love is when I was just 11 and my 8 year old brother died. I knew with out a shadow of a doubt I would see him again although I was hurting so deeply. Love is 1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now abide faith, hope and love, these three , but the greatest of these is love.” (NKJV) - Ramona MacDonald

Putting others first.” -Ciara Pruitt
“Love, to me is.. giving to others through the love and power of God! The Bible tells us God IS love and His love is unconditional, constant, everlasting, long-suffering, forgiving, gracious, merciful, giving. So as a child of God, redeemed from my sins through Jesus Christ, as I accept God’s love, I am commanded to share His love by giving to others the same as He has given to me. WHAT A JOY !“ -Kathryn McCanna
“Love for me is: a place where the most highest levels of the means of God are. In other words, It doesn’t matter how people are, whether they are good or bad, if they have faults or not because love covers all and God is love. As human beings, we are the place of love because since God is love; we have to let the Holy Spirit in us show the love of God in us to all humanity.” - Merys Garcia

I
don't know about you, but I remember a day when television could only be viewed in black & white. I know that I am dating myself, but I also know that right now you are either saying to yourself; “What…Black & White!” OR “Yep, I remember that too..." Either way, I was just a young child when TV was only available in black & white. I also have to admit, at this young age it set up a little confusion when it came to my view of reality. Sure, like many of us, I probably watched a little too much TV anyway. I know I certainly enjoyed my fair share of cartoons and 3 Stooges, but what I really enjoyed watching the most was sports… especially football! Sports have always had a positive effect on my life, but football had a very special impact on my young life and it happened when I was able to attend my first live game. I was just a little guy at the time so I couldn’t tell you what season it was or who the Miami Dolphins were playing that day, but this was my first live pro football game. What I do vividly remember about the day was going to the Miami Orange Bowl stadium with my family, hearing the sounds of the cheering fans, the smells of hot dogs and buttered popcorn, but what really
32 • Employee Stay Connected
opened my eyes was that nothing was in black & white. I recall walking through the bleacher openings at the stadium and to my astonishment for the very first time I saw the Miami Dolphins uniforms were actually aqua green and orange. The grass on the field was green as the grass in my own yard and the sky was bright blue. Suddenly what seemed to be for the first time in my life everything was no longer in black & white, it was in living color. The Bible speaks of something very similar in 1 Peter. The Word instructs us of what to do and how to act when we first experience Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour. This passage of scripture also refers to us as if we are like little children. I Peter 2:2 specifically uses the term, "as newborn babes…" Just the same as you could see my immaturity in the way I viewed things in black & white before my living color experience at the stadium, God can see our Spiritual maturity level and how it has grown since our Salvation experience with a living God. Certainly God wants us to mature and continue growing in our relationship with Him at all times. As you know, the only way to build a relationship with anyone is to both talk and listen to each
other. Obviously the way we talk to God is through our prayers, but equally important is the way we listen to Him, and that is by reading His Word. The complete thought God commands us to obey in I Peter 2:1-3 states, "Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” Please take just another moment longer with me and let’s break down this simple commandment... First it says to lay aside; • Malice - the intention or desire to do evil; ill will. • Deceit - the action or practice of deceiving someone by concealing or misrepresenting the truth. • Hypocrisy - the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense. • Envy - a feeling of discontented or resentful longing aroused by someone else's possessions, qualities, or luck. • Evil Speaking – action of conveying profound immorality, wickedness, and depravity, especially when regarded as a supernatural force. OUCH! The truth is really brutal sometimes but let me be the first to admit, I have to fight against these tendencies in my own life every single day. We all do, and if you are saying that you have it all under control, you’re either dead or a really bad liar. Let’s face it, the flesh of self is the root cause of these things in everyone’s life, but the remedy is stated back in verse 2, “as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of
the Word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. Have you tasted the Lord’s Grace? God’s Grace is infinite in every way! It cannot be measured because it has no end and it began way before you knew of Him. The reason that His grace exists is because God is LOVE, and the consummation of that love is found in 1John 4:19; We love Him because He first loved us. Our God is an infinite God, why would we try to make Him finite in any way? Just the same as I would never go back to a black & white TV set when I had an opportunity to go watch a live game, I never want to limit my limitless God. The best HDTV is still NOTHING compared to experiencing the game in living color with all five senses, and today God will be as big in your life as you will let Him. By the same token, NEVER limit yourself to the limitless God who created you and allowed your lungs to breath and heart to continue pumping inside your chest as you read this article without even thinking about it. Never put any limits on anything He has for you, especially His Amazing Love and Grace. When you do you are allowing your free admission ticket to the live game to be snatched away by the evil one whose single purpose is to rob and deceive you of what God wants to give you. Finally “IF” you have been staying at home to watch life on some form of old school TV, get out to the game and not just in the stands. Get to the playing field and experience God’s best for yourself. NOT IF, but when you do, you will never, ever regret, it.

I’m in Love So… there’s this guy. I’m kinda in love with him. Crazy thing is, he’s in love with me too! He loved me before I loved him. I think I must be the luckiest girl in the world. Want to know a little about him? Well, first of all, he’s really awesome. Even the sound of his name is beautiful. He’s genuine and never fake. He’s not constantly trying to impress me or show off, he’s just himself. I know he will never let me down. He’s a one-of-a-kind man I can really trust. He’ll always have my back, even when I don’t have his. He forgives me freely, and loves me unconditionally. I don’t have to worry about measuring up, because he thinks I’m beautiful and is proud of me just the way I am. He loves me enough to tell me the truth, even when it hurts... or even if it hurts our relationship because of my pride... he’s that real. He’ll take me through bad times to show me what I need to learn, all the while holding my hand. He doesn’t rub it in my face when I mess up, but doesn’t let me stay messed up either. Some days, it’s hard to know he’s there for me because I get distracted with life, but because I know his character, I can trust he’s always going to be within arm’s reach. He thinks about me all the time and loves spending time with me. It’s crazy to imagine it, but he was thinking about me and my whole life before I was even born. He’s willing to give his life for me... and already has. His name is Jesus, and he loves you the same way. I’d love to introduce you to him. Now read this again, and put use your name instead of “me”.

Where’s
Prince Charming
38 • Employee Stay Connected
?
I know that each and every woman at one point in her life wonders where her prince charming is. Is he the boy taking tickets at the movie theater, the quarterback of the football team, the lead in the musical, the captain of the chess team, the med student, the mail man, or the quiet loner? Whoever he is we wish he would find us because we can’t seem to find him. It seems that sometimes I almost want to look under bushes and around corners to see if he is there waiting to pop out and surprise me. Needless to say, he’s not. While this seems a bit extreme, not to mention cliché, it’s true. As women we want to be loved, pursued, and desired. As little girls we begin our longing for our prince. We play with Barbie, and she gets married; we play house; we play MASH as teenagers thinking that it will solve the question for us. My childhood friend Julie and I would make up stories about our Prince; what he looked like, where he was from, how we would meet him, and how he would sweep us of our feet. We lived in a fairy tale world where nothing could go wrong. Except that nothing went as we planned. Julie and I were dreamers, we’d sit up for hours at night on the phone dreaming up what romantic sentiment the boy we liked would say to us the next day, and we’d be lucky if we got a hello. We sat with each other through heartbreak and we planned proposals when the guy would look our way. We lived for our prince. WHERE WAS HE? The problem is in what I just said, “We LIVED for our prince.” We didn’t enjoy the moments of high school because we were too busy dreaming. Not that dreaming is a bad thing but we took it to the extreme. We put men up on a pedestal and expected them all to reach it. As we’ve grown older we’ve made the realizations that men are humans just like we are and they need to be treated as such. Yes we desire to be pursued by them and our desires are natural, however to expect him to ride in on a white horse and be all that you want him to be is practically unrealistic. God created man in his image, and when the fall came women weren’t the only ones to fall. Adam did too. As much as he may play strong he is insecure and he is affected by us. We have the power to crush him with one little rejection. I don’t know about you but at this point I’m no longer wondering why I can’t find him, he’s hiding! Several years ago a college friend and I were having a conversation about what we wanted in a man and this is what she said, “I want a man that will make me blush.” Another friend replied with this, “I want a man that will see me standing on the wall from across the room and come and get me, and drag me into the crowd linked on his arm.” I think that both of their expectations are completely realistic. It’s perfectly normal to have certain characteristics or personality traits that you look for in a life partner, the trouble comes when we put more focus on those things than our own relationship with God. I remember hearing a pastor say once that anything that we place on a higher pedestal than God is an Idol. It’s possible for our “perfect man” to become an Idol. It’s possible for a man who we completely made up from fairy tales and listening to Delilah on the radio to become more important than God. I’m not trying to tell you to think of men as scum and dirt, not expecting them to meet any expectations. Just to warn you of the dangers of living your life solely looking for Prince Charming. You may find him, but in the process you will waste so many years that you can never get back. Live for God, trust everything to Him and trust him to give you the man that he knows will best compliment you. Because believe me what he has for you is so much better that whatever you will find on your own. -Olive Employee Stay Connected • 39

Fun Facts About February The Romans developed a 10 month calendar that began with the spring equinox in March and ended in December. There is belief that what is now February was overlooked when this calendar was created, as winter weather had little to do with the harvest in the northern hemisphere, where Rome is located. Romans essentially considered the winter a period of time with no distinctive months. When the second king of Rome, Numa Pompilius, took to the throne in 713 BC, he had plans to make the calendar more accurate by synchronizing it with the actual lunar year, which is roughly 354 days long. Thus, two new months, January and February, were added to the end of the calendar. Both January and February had 28 days. At the time, even numbers were considered bad luck, and these months were not looked upon favorably by the king. So he decided to make changes once more and added a day to January to make it 29 days long. February was left untouched, remaining an “unlucky” month and one devoted to honoring the dead and performing rites of purification, as the word February comes from februare, which means “to purify.” February remained the last month of the year for roughly 200 years until the calendar was reevaluated and February was reassigned as the second month, with January being the start of the new year. This new 355-day calendar simply could not stay in sync with the seasons because it did not account for the amount of time it takes the Earth to orbit the sun. Therefore, an extra “month” of 27 days was added after Feb. 23 each year to play catch-up. Sometimes this extra month was overlooked or not scheduled in time, continuing the calendar conundrum. Julius Caesar was responsible for tackling calendar problems further when he was in power. He wished to make the calendar solar-based, like the one Egyptians used, instead of the older lunar-based calendar. This led to the creation of the Julian calendar. Ten days were added to the calendar year in various months, and February was increased every four years (leap year) to 29 days to coordinate the calendar year to the solar cycle of roughly 365.2425 days.

February remains the shortest month of the year. Through the years there has been no widespread attempt to reorganize the calendar once more to even out the months and give extra time to February. As a result of the shorter number of days, February has some unique attributes. In common years, February can pass without a single full moon. The next time this will happen is in 2018. Once every six years, February is the only month that has four, full seven-day weeks. February starts on the same day of the week as March and November in common years, and on the same day of the week as August on leap years. February ends on the same day of the week as October every year. In leap years, it is the only month that begins and ends on the same weekday. People born on a leap year technically celebrate their birthday only once every four years, but most observe it on the 28th. Celebrities born on Feb. 29 include Tony Robbins, Antonio Sabato, Jr., Mervyn Warren, and Dennis Farina. Despite its status as the shortest month, February is packed with many events, including Valentine’s Day and Groundhog’s Day. Americans celebrate the birth of two presidents in February, as well as Black History Month. Mexicans celebrate Flag Day in February, while residents of St. Lucia celebrate their Independence Day. February is also a time for families, especially in Canada, where Family Day is celebrated on the third Monday of the month in many provinces. February is also an important month for sports fans, as two teams face each other in the Super Bowl on the first Sunday of February. No one really knows for certain why February was relegated to the shortest month. However, with so much trivia and special events surrounding the month, it is still a special time of year.

Devotional & Bible Reading Wow! So much is packed into these first books of the Bible! I don’t know about you, but I’m always shocked at how quickly people in the Bible walk away from God and ignore His teachings.. but then again, I’ve been guilty of doing just that in my own life... So maybe it’s not that surprising after all! If you’re reading was anything like mine this month... It was probably hard to keep up with the schedule. But it’s well worth it. Even as we go through the upcoming books of Leviticus and Numbers, don’t get discouraged by the lengthy passages on how many of this thing and that thing are counted. This is a great opportunity to see how the old Law was presented to the Jews, and to remember that we are free from this Law! Thanks to Christ we no longer have to worry about what is “clean” or “unclean” with what we wear or eat. Christ has taken every last part of the Law and fulfilled every requirement so we don’t have to. How amazing is His grace! And don’t get discouraged if you miss a day or more and miss out on the passages... You can pick up right where you left off or jump to the current day and catch up on the other passages later. And if you only start the reading plan in the middle of a month that’s still the perfect time to start reading! That’s the great thing about the Bible, there is no set way you have to read it... The only important thing is that you DO read. If you’re not ready to tackle reading the whole Bible, don’t give up! You can start out reading Proverbs to get a start. It’s full of great truths and wisdom to help you in all stages of life. Plus it’s easy to know what chapter to read on which day.... There are 31 chapters in Proverbs, just read the chapter that matches the day of the month and soon you will have ready the whole book! - Andrea Lewis
