Editor's Letter Looking back over 2017, it was a great year for me, the digital version of Inspired Brides Magazine got featured on Issuu which massively increased it's readership. I also won a Women In Business award, which makes me feel incredibly proud. I'm also very excited for 2018, lots of lovely ideas and plans in the pipeline, all to help you plan your wedding day. I planned this edition with winter weddings in mind. Both of the styled shoots have been done in the winter, The Old Palace in November and Warwick House in December, and how beautiful are they? Proving that winter wedding can look just as stunning as the popular choice of summer weddings. We also have some gorgeous real weddings for you to get ideas and inspiration from, including my closest friend Hayley's wedding...a truly gorgeous winter wedding. However you plan your wedding, remember to create your day your way. And have fun.

The Old Palace Venue The Old Palace
Photography Nellie Photography
In the heart of Worcester, the Old Palace is a historic Grade 1 listed building, which makes an unusual and beautiful location for your wedding celebrations. Along with the Cathedral, the Old Palace is the oldest building in Worcester. It has been a place of Christian hospitality since the 11th Century and was the official residence of the Bishop of Worcester until 1846 then becoming the Deanery until 1941. There was a bishop living in the building even before there was a King of England and the building has many royal connections, including Queen Elizabeth I who kept her Court at the Bishop's Palace in Worcester for seven days in 1575. King Charles I, James II and George III have also stayed at the Palace. This picturesque venue in the centre of the beautiful city of Worcester really is one of Worcester’s best-kept secrets with magnificent rooms full of character and history. The elegant 12th century beautifully beamed Great Hall has views across the river Severn to the cricket ground and Malvern Hills beyond. It can accommodate 80 people for a traditional wedding breakfast or cater for up to 150 people for a buffet, allowing you to add extra guests to your evening party. There is space for dancing in front of the windows overlooking the river. The venue has an elegant entrance hall with a sweeping staircase for reception drinks as well as the vaulted ‘Abbots Kitchen’ which can be used as a separate reception area. The Old Palace also has beautiful riverside gardens, which make for lovely wedding photos and are a brilliant setting to drink Champagne with the magnificent Worcester Cathedral in the background. Fresh, local produce is cooked on site by our catering team. You can chose to have a traditional three course wedding breakfast, opt for a buffet supper or devise your own menu with the help of our experienced catering team. Along with a Champagne or Pimms reception, you can choose from our extensive wine list and include a bar in your celebrations. We’d be delighted to help you with your plans.
The Old Palace is a licensed venue until 11.30pm for dancing and drinking, at which point it is only a short walk or taxi ride to other city centre venues for further celebrations or to public transport and local hotels. If you would like to discuss your wedding reception, or any other event, please call our team on Tel : 01905 20537 or email weddings@cofe-worcester.org.uk. The Old Palace, Deansway, Worcester WR1 2JE
The Shoot If your looking for a city location for your wedding, The Old Palace really is a beautiful hidden gem in Worcester City Centre. The outdoor space at this venue is fabulous with so many hidden treasures to photograph, myself and Sarah of Nellie Photography were spoilt for choice for locations. For this styled shoot the dress was the first thing I chose, I immediately fell in love with the stunning dresses from La Couture Bridal Boutique. I knew then i wanted to create a 1920's styling with a colour scheme of navy and gold. The Midlands Event Company brought this look together beautifully with navy sequin table cloths and stunning gold accessories, flowers were added from Stephanie Saunders. Completing the table dressings was the stationery suite by Invitations Illustrated. We decided to go for a slightly more dramatic make-up look by Christine Cara Make-up, smokey eyes and deep red on the lips. Hair was styled by Trust Salons to suit the theme a soft curl and a loose up-do.
Adding to the hair and accessorising is Tulle & Blue's stunning hand crafted bespoke items. Completing the look is the creative baking skills of The Cakeri designing a absolute stunner of a cake. Bringing the wow to the whole look is the fabulous balloon styling from the Fetti & Bow team, who cleverly dressed the stairs and the vaulted ‘Abbots Kitchen’ with gold balloons. The overall look was stunning all captured by Sarah of Nellie Photography. Written By Sarah Humphreys

REAL WEDDING
RUSTIC FESTIVAL Words By Sarah Humphreys Photography By James Mottram Photography Venue Blithfield Lakeside Barns
A fabulous festival style wedding, with lots of DIY personal touches at Blithfield Lakeside Barns, Staffordshire. Grace and Richard got married at Blithfield Lakeside Barns, Rugeley, Staffordshire on 10th June 2017 “We had two gorgeous giant teepees for our reception,” said Grace “decked out with fairy lights, long benches and handmade dream catchers. It was on the same land as the ceremony with 10 bell tents behind for our guests to stay in. The entire wedding was on based on the land at Blithfield cottages, we felt we could really make the most of the day with everything being close together.” “We chose James Mottram as our Photographer,” said the bride “as we knew he would capture our vibe, we didn’t want the traditional wedding style, we wanted something more relaxed and different. James does something special, capturing not just candid shots but capturing character and all those special moments you don’t want to miss, he blends into the background and doesn’t over power your day. As a photographer myself, I probably put the pressure on him, ha-ha.. but he’s impressed me!” “We didn’t have a particular theme, we made it up as we went along, maybe a rustic festival style is the closest way to describe it. We basically wanted to break all the typical wedding traditions, so we did everything a little differently.” Said Grace “Great music, tasty food and making friends and family happy was always the most important thing to us, so creating our wedding style and theme was inspired by this.” “I was and still am absolutely in love with my dress, I was convinced I would never find the one but I was pleasantly surprised when I did.” Said the bride “My dress was an elegant, figure hugging sheath dress made from ivory crepe fabric with illusion lace long sleeves by Eddy K Bridal. I always thought I would spend a fortune on my shoes but I spotted some chunky heeled sandals in a nude sparkly woven fabric at Next for £30, they looked pretty expensive plus I like to dance a lot so they had to comfy.” “Richard wore a grey tweed 3 piece-suit with elbow pads, he said the elbow pads were the deal breaker.” Said the bride “He wore a white cutaway collared shirt and a plum velvet bow tie which we picked up from a vintage shop in Athens, Greece. His favourite was his vintage brown brogues from Florence in Italy, finished off with quintessentially British, union Jack socks. He forgot his cuff links so they were borrowed from a close friend, Dominic.” “Having bridesmaids was one tradition I wanted to keep.” Continued Grace “I am blessed with some gorgeous best friends; Cherie, Danielle, Jenny, Aimee and my sister Penny, who all wore plum coloured and pleated/crinkle maxi dresses from Topshop. C H I C PASTEL W EDDING Words By Sarah Humphreys
Photography By Poppy K Photography
Venue Walton Hall
A stunning Warwickshire wedding, full of pastel colours at the beautiful Walton Hall. Charlotte and Paul got married at Mercure Walton Hall, Warwickshire on 22nd September 2017. “I was looking through Wedding magazines for a while” said Charlotte “and found a love for pastel colours and chic designs, so we decided to choose pinks, greens, gold’s as our colour theme as this was the theme I was drawn to the most. It seems timeless and classic.” “I was a nightmare when choosing my dress, there are so many beautiful gowns to choose from” said the bride “and I loved so many different styles. The dress I chose was from the 5th store I visited. My mother and bridesmaids were so indecisive and were wowed by every dress just as much as I was. Luckily, after trying on so many dresses, I started to work out what I was looking for; what neckline, shape, what style...and then i found the perfect dress a Maggie Sottero - Andraea. I loved the detail and how elegant it felt. And once I put on my veil I felt like a real bride. To finish the look I bought my shoes from Debenhams, I then had them customised with a diamante trim by a friend of my sister who is a seamstress” “Paul wore a Three piece suit from TDR Menswear.” Said the bride “We went for a blue with pastel pink accessories to match our 3 bridesmaid dresses and flower girls dresses. The bridesmaid dresses were by Mori Lee and the flower girls were from Debenhams” “A family friend of ours, Jaqueline Perks created the perfect flowers for our day” continued Charlotte “following our desired theme. We all had beautiful pastel bouquets with centrepieces to match that sat in martini vases. Another family friend of ours Deborah Guest Cakes, created our wedding cake” said the bride “this was a beautiful three tiered vanilla sponge cake which was gorgeous. It all matched the theme of the wedding” “We did a few DIY project for our wedding favours and some for our stationary too.” Continued the bride “These were designed based on ideas I’d seen on Pinterest and created with my bridesmaids on a number of girls nights in. My advice would be, if you can, try and create your own items wherever possible, it saves money and adds a personal touch that’s bespoke to your day” “My favourite special moment” concluded the bride “was when the vicar blessed the three of us at the end of the service. Paul and I and our 10 month old little boy Lucas”

The Shoot With the beautiful white wall backdrop of Warwick House, i knew a clean-line white on white winter wedding styling would look simply striking, with the added touches of gold, at this gorgeous wedding venue. On the day photographer Kayleigh Pope captured the day perfectly, so we were able to showcase a great selection of stunning gowns from Bea's Bridal Studio which is conveniently situated a short drive from the venue. For the bridal look we had a great team comprising of Helena Shakespeare - makeup artist, she created a number of bridal make-up looks together with Mode Bridal Hair & Makeup working on the hair styling for the shoot. Including jewellery from Stella & Dot Independent stylist Hirminder ubhi, who carefully accessorised each look. The other elements that bring it all together is the showstopper cake created by Cakes By Sian and the wedding stationery from the wonderful Plain Sage Designs that add the finishing touch to the table dressing and flowers by The Wedding And Events Lounge. WINTER WONDERLAND Words By Sarah Humphreys
Photography By Rebecca Dawe Photography
Venue Barnsdale Hall Hotel
A beautiful winter wedding wedding, suitably sparkling at Barnsdale Hall Hotel, Rutland. Hayley and Chris got married at Barnsdale Hall Hotel on 1st December 2017. “ The theme for our wedding was winter wonderland” Said Hayley “we decided on a winter wedding and both liked the idea of using lots of silver and white, fairy lights and candles. We had visited the venue in early January 2017 to book our wedding and the ceilings were draped with fairy lights in the arms and with hanging snowflakes, this became the foundation for our winter wonderland theme.” “I loved vintage style dresses” said the bride “ and being a bride for the second time I wanted something different to the current trend of lace or sheer panels. Whilst looking on the net, I spotted the designer Eliza Jane Howell who specialises in 1920’s vintage glamour and fell in love with her style. I tracked down my nearest stockist, and visited Cicily Bridal, and with their amazing guidance and advice, I chose the Lauren dress; a fully beaded pearl coloured gown with rhinestones on the sleeves, neckline and on the waist. It was beautiful “ continued the bride “and exactly what I had hoped for. To accompany my dress I had a bespoke ostrich feather cape made by Serenity Kate Couture, which completed the look.” “For my accessories, Rachel Chaprunne made me a stunning crystal crown headpiece with a matching cuff bracelet.” Said Hayley “For my shoes, I wanted to stay with the vintage theme but importantly I wanted to be comfortable so I chose a T bar ivory pair from Rainbow Shoes and accessorised them with jewelled shoe clips.” “We decided the dress code was black tie so Chris wore a black tuxedo, pleated dress shirt with a black and Swarovski crystal bow tie as well as silver sparkly braces. Patent formal dress shoes finished the look.” Said the bride “Chris and I have four children between us so our two daughters Gracie and Jessica aged 12 years old were bridesmaids. They loved being pampered and having their hair and make-up done professionally. The other two bridesmaids” continued the bride “were my two best friends also known as my chief advisers on our WhatsApp group chat. Zoe and Sarah were my constant sounding board offering much needed support and advice. They kept me sane and their genuine excitement and enthusiasm was so touching. On the day they kept me calm and had me laughing from beginning to end. The bridesmaids were dressed in Watters dresses from the amazing divine boutique Leicester. These were a one shouldered evening gown in a charcoal grey and we added a vintage lace belt. Being winter we also chose pale silver fur jackets from coast.”

“I met with a local florist Pollen at a wedding fair” Said the bride “I was looking for an unstructured bouquet with mainly white roses and silvery green foliage as well as white feathers, vintage brooches and long trailing silver ribbons. On the day the flowers were beautiful, fresh and exactly what I had asked for. The accompanying bridesmaid’s bouquets and ceremony flowers were just as lovely.” “Chris’s sister in law Sarah makes amazing cakes so we decided to ask if she would make ours. After the sharing of lots of ideas on Pinterest we came up with an ivory tiered cake coated in sparkly sugar crystals decorated with snowflakes to fit our theme.” Said Hayley “ I found a snowflake cake topper and also some diamante ribbon to complete the look. It looked fabulous and tasted delicious, many compliments were receive” “I thoroughly enjoyed doing lots of little projects from making the favours and the table plan to planning individual gifts for people involved. I felt this made the wedding very personal to Chris and I.” Said Hayley “ I would advise you plan what you want and go for it. Shop around for what you want. Also have a good support network to help with ideas and for advice.” “We had lots of memorable moments” concluded the bride “My dad has been very poorly this year so having him walk me down the aisle with my son Louie was perfect. Our four amazing children Gracie, Jessica, Louie and Gregory gave a speech which brought the house down. Chris being close to tears during our vows. Seeing our friends and family so happy for us was so special. The whole day was amazing.”
