Oldberrow House Venue Oldberrow House

Photography Joanna Briggs Photography

Oldberrow House is an exclusive and unique wedding venue, set in 37 acres of mature gardens and pastureland. It is located just outside the picturesque village of Henley in Arden in Warwickshire.

Joanne, Anthony and their team at Oldberrow House work closely with each bride and groom to ensure their wedding celebration is tailored to their personal taste. From selecting which drinks to serve as guests arrive at Oldberrow House, to customising the bar list to ensure your favourite drinks are being served at our licensed bar. Joanne and Anthony are always at hand to ensure the day runs as planned and to solve any issues that may arise without the bride and groom even knowing! At Oldberrow House we give our bride and groom complete flexibility on the caterer they’d like to use, allowing choice on the style of wedding breakfast to meet their personal taste and budget. We do of course have a couple of caterers we can highly recommend as we’ve seen and tasted their creations first hand at our weddings! We strive to provide complete flexibility, working around our bride and groom’s dreams for their special wedding celebration. We invite you to relax within Oldberrow House and treat it like your own home for your weekend of celebration. The house itself can be used for smaller intimate weddings within its four grand reception rooms. Alternatively if a larger wedding celebration is preferred, our croquet lawn is an ideal site for a luxury marquee or tipi and can easily accommodate up to 200 guests with Oldberrow House as the backdrop, up lit at night. The four luxury king sized, individually designed en-suite rooms complete with roll top baths and antique beds are used over the wedding weekends to provide a lovely retreat when needed from the wedding celebrations. Brides and their bridal party appreciate the relaxed, spacious environment to get prepared for their big day and the family love having quality time over breakfast in our morning room or dining room before and after the festivities, with homemade breads, jams and the occasional double-yoker egg from the local farm hens! We also have a camping field which allows additional guests to camp or ‘glamp’ within the grounds of Oldberrow House and then share a much needed breakfast the morning after the celebrations within the marquee or tipi.

Joanne and Anthony Carr fell in love with and bought Oldberrow House in February 2012. Our clear vision was to complete a full restoration project, restoring the beautiful house back to its former glory. It’s always been Joanne's dream to own and run a beautiful and unique wedding venue and Oldberrow House has been hosting exclusive wedding celebrations since 2015. The house has had a varied past, it was built as a Rectory to St Mary’s Church, Oldberrow, which was rebuilt in 1875 on the site of a medieval church. Oldberrow House has also been a school, hotel and a base for the Women’s Land Army during the Second World War. It was also a set for Dangerfield TV drama in the 1980’s! We are currently working on landscaping the grounds bringing back to life the original features much admired by Eleanor Roosevelt on her visit to the Land Army basedhere during the Second World War. This will include recreating the lily ponds under the magnificent200 year old Wellingtonia tree to further enhance our popular location for hosting wedding ceremonies. For more information and to arrange a viewing, Please give Joanne and Anthony a call on 01564 794407 / 0750 3939098, Email info@OldberrowHouse.com Find us on Facebook : Oldberrow House Instagram : Oldberrow_House

The Shoot This venue is ideal if your really looking for a stunning venue that can offer you complete flexibility. Not only is the venue beautiful, the grounds are beautiful too, with so many lovely spots for your wedding day images. For this styled shoot I had decided I wanted the colour scheme to be the 2018 Pantone colour of the year ultra violet, to give with lots of ideas and inspiration of how you can use it for your wedding day. On the day, La Couture Bridal Boutique brought a wonderful selection of dresses, which, along with the showstopping Cathedral Veil, fitted this romantic look perfectly. For hair styling and make-up we had award winning team Mode Bridal Hair & Make-up work with our models and create a naturally beautiful bridal look, which along with the hair accessories from Fifth & Spring looked incredible.

Bringing the colour to the look was the very talented florist Lilac & Wild, with table arrangements and a striking bouquet. The cake is designed and made by Deliciously Divine Cake Design, which looked even more incredible in real life! Adding the finishing touches are the stationery suite by Invitations Illustrated. The overall look was stunning, and all captured by the extraordinary Joanna Briggs Photography Written By Sarah Humphreys

RUSTIC BARN WEDDING Words By Sarah Humphreys

Photography By Iris & Ivy Photography

Venue Curradine Barns

A fabulous rustic barn wedding in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside at Curradine Barns Stacey and Liam got married at Curradine Barns, Shrawley, Worcestershire on 4th November 2017 “We chose a rustic vintage theme” said Stacey “as Curradine Barns where we got married was so beautiful, the rustic and vintage theme fits so perfectly with the barn setting and kept things simple.” “My dress was made by a dutch designer called Modeca,” said the bride “it was an ivory dress with sweetheart neckline. It had ten layers, was all lace and beaded on the top that flowed down into the net with a beautiful train. The dress was from Jessica ley brides in Evesham. My shoes were from rainbow club they were ivory peep toe with sliver sparkly lining.” “Liam wore a royal blue suit with a checked royal blue waistcoat and ivory cravat, his shoes were brown brogues. The suit was hired from Peter Posh. For my four bridesmaids” continued the bride “they all wore grey dresses from Dorothy Perkins and the fur shawls from Primark. Then my two flower girls also wore grey dresses from monsoon with fur shrug from Bhs.” “Our florist is a friend Connie Bayliss who has been doing floristry for a few years now.” Said Stacey “I showed her my ideas on Pinterest and she made the magic happen. We had mix of sliver and white, green flowers and also purple roses for mine and Liam’s flowers. The bridesmaids and ushers had gypsophila then the tables had a mix of all these flowers.” “For our wedding cake we chose a three tiered cake,” said the bride “the bottom layer was decorated in white ruffles and was Victoria sponge. The middle tier was covered in grey icing with sugar flowers in the middle and was sticky toffee pudding flavour. Finally the top tier was also covered in grey icing was raspberry and champagne flavour. Jo of Cupcake Corner made the cake, she is based locally.” “We did a few DIY projects for our wedding,” said Stacey “my family helped me restore a pair of old ladders. We painted them in grey chalk paint then decorated them with lights and vintage sign and attached pictures to the top of them. They decorated the room well really set off the vintage and rustic theme.”

HAIR ACCESSORIES? Award winning team, Mode Bridal Hair & Make up give us their top tips How To Choose The Right Hair Accessory For Your Wedding Day

Brides are always asking us for advice on how to choose the right hair piece for their hair, when is the best time to purchase one and where to find them? We thought it was time to answer those questions… There are many things to consider when choosing a hair piece: • Are you wanting to wear your hair up or down – Some hair pieces are quite specific to one or the other with their fixings • Are you wearing a veil – Where will the hair piece fit around the veil • Style of dress • Tiaras, Slides, Pins, Headbands or even fresh flowers! (These still count as a hair accessory) Fresh Flowers are a great hair accessory and can look REALLY pretty if used right. You can always purchase these yourself from a supermarket or get your florist to prepare some for you. And DON’T forget your bridesmaids: TOP TIP – A small bunch of gypsophelia is a great and in expensive way of really finishing of your bridesmaids hair. It looks really effective in both hair up and hair down.

BOHO AND RELAXED – Achieved with the use of hair vines, pins & flowers. There is no right time to purchase your hair accessory however we would normally recommend you do it after you have chosen your beautiful dress. This just means that you will have the perfect idea of what look you are trying to achieve. Whether you have chosen classic, boho or a city chic dress may then affect what type of hair piece you choose. There are some obvious pieces which suit a certain look but on the other hand sometimes mixing themes works well too! If you have chosen a very classic, simple and elegant dress you may want to look at something like a classic tiara or an elegant slide. Whereas if you are going for a very boho/outdoor wedding you may want something more relaxed like a hair vine or delicate pins. Here are some more examples of types of hair pieces that go well with certain hair styles: CLASSIC AND ELEGANT – The use of sparkly tiaras, hair slides and hairbands Although....sometimes you don’t even need any hair accessories. If you are trying to achieve a very City Chic wedding, these hair styles don’t always need anything – sometimes simple is best! City Chic... just beautiful hair styling We have only managed to cover such a small portion of Hair accessory advice in this blog post, however please feel free to contact us for anymore enquiries. At Mode Bridal Hair & Makeup, we have our own range of hair accessories that we have personally selected over the years, that we retail to our brides. Be assured we have something to cover every need and style.

C L A S S I C C O U N T R Y W ED D I N G Words By Sarah Humphreys

Photography By Jill Evan Photography

Venue Eastington Park

A classic wedding at the traditional Georgian style manor house Eastington Park in the Gloucestershire countryside Rachael & Samuel got married at Eastington Park, a Georgian style manor house, in Stonehouse, South Gloucestershire on 24th June 2017 . “We chose a classic English country wedding style” said Rachael “as we wanted to keep everything timeless, tasteful and elegant with a neutral colour theme throughout.”. “My dress was made by Atelia Lyanna” said the bride “It was a very simple and elegant, strapless and fitted at the top and A line on the bottom. It had a touch of beading around the waste and a simple fold detail around the top to give some interest. It also had an amazing detachable train which I took off in the evening to be able to have a good boogie on the dance floor! What I really liked about the dress was how graceful and classic it was. It had a ‘Princess of Monaco’ feel to it (which was fitting as I am such a Royalist!) I have to admit I got a bargain on my shoes!” continued the bride “They were £40 from House of Fraser! They were open toed, satin with beading detail on them.” “Sam wore a light grey French Connection suit with an ivory waistcoat.” Said the bride “His ushers had the same suit but with a grey waistcoat. They all wore champagne coloured silk ties and an ivory rose button hole. I also had my two little nephews, Ollie and George as page boys, they wore cute little grey suits with a pale blue shirt and champagne tie. For my bridesmaids” continued Rachael “My sister Sarah was Maid of Honour and my 3 closest friends Claire, Hannah and Susie were bridesmaids. They all wore chiffon floor length dresses with an elegant scoop neck and back. The colour was ‘wintermelon’ which is basically a very pale pinky/peach colour. They looked absolutely stunning” "For our flowers we used The Sodbury Florist based in Chipping Sodbury.” Said Rachael “They understood my vision to have big centre pieces for the tables – all in ivory with a touch of green foliage. I love hydrangea so we used them as the main flower and complemented them with roses, peonies, stocks and gypsophilia. My bouquet was all ivory flowers, hydrangea, peonies, freesias, roses and soft grey foliage.” “My husband and I are huge cheese lovers so we had a cake of cheese as our wedding cake.” Said the bride “We got it from the West Country Cheese Company. They were great as you could order the type of cheese you wanted for each tier and they just deliver it to the venue. We decorated it with ivory roses and got some personalised wooden cake toppers made.”

“My Mum was amazing. She made all of our chair covers which were ivory satin which we tied with pearl bracelets” said the bride “She also kept all her jam jars and decorated those with lace and ribbon which we used for candle holders. My Dad also had ‘commemorative mugs’ made with a picture of us on and our family coat of arms on! They were left in the guest’s rooms as something to take away with them.” "I love anything and everything to do with weddings so I totally threw myself into it and really embraced the experience.” Concluded the bride “I also think it’s really important to share the planning and decisions together. We used to allocate Sunday afternoons to do ‘wedmin’ together. We’d have a couple of glasses of wine and sit down and do bits of wedding prep. One of our favourite parts was putting the play lists together! Jill was amazing! On the day Jill made us feel so relaxed and was such an integral part to making our day run smoothly. I love our photos so much and could not recommend her more highly.” Photographer www.jillevansphotography.com Venue www.eastingtonpark.co.uk Catering www.berry-blue.co.uk Cheese Cake www.westcountrycheese.co.uk Hair and make up www.beautycall.co.uk Band www.thesolidsoulband.co.uk/solidabout.html Wedding dress www.paverlybridal.co.uk Tailors www.chambersbespoketailors.co.uk Face in hole board www.photocutouts.co.uk The Tzigauners www.tzigauners.co.uk

MEET

THE VINTAGE HOUSE THAT COULD Katie Sutton is the founder and creative Director of The Vintage House That Could. She offers beautiful weddings and events styling across the country. So we caught up with her and asked her a few question we thought our brides might like to read about.

Q: Tell us a bit about your business? - The Vintage House That Could was born out of my love for vintage shopping and weddings!! I source beautiful vintage pieces and use them in unique ways so that every wedding I style is one of a kind. Vintage for me isn’t just about your typical style, whilst I love bunting I also love Art Deco, Rustic, Boho and creating completely bespoke themes geared around my lovely couples. Q: What made you start up your business? – As with lots of other stylists, after my own wedding 4 years ago I realised there was a huge need. Although I loved styling my own wedding I really wished that I had someone with my vision to actually do the work for me whilst I sipped on champagne and relaxed!! I made the decision to leave my teaching career 2 years after that and put my heart and soul into TVHTC. Q: What makes you unique? – I suppose the Illustrator/Art teacher in me is always there, I love creating new pieces, I love coming up with new concepts for seating plans and table centrepieces. I do not conform to a ‘One size fits all’ wedding and so each and every couple get something that belongs just to them. Q: Where do you get your inspiration from? –I am inspired by so many things, I am interior obsessed so lots of my wedding designs originate from cool interiors. A specific colour from furniture or wall tiles can spark a new idea. Instagram is a constant source of inspiration and I follow loads of amazing accounts from many different fields. My couples inspire me too, their interests and passions are a brilliant springboard for starting a mood board. Q: What kind of couples match your style of services? – When you gel with a couple its brilliant especially when you start discussing all the different options and their eyes light up! My couples are always so trusting of me and my vision which is amazing and I am truly thank you for that. I have worked with a large variety of different couples but essentially they all just want a personal day with those unique details that I can provide.

"My couples inspire me too, their interests and passions are a brilliant springboard for starting a mood board."

Q: Tell us what you love about your business – I love being creative, I love visiting new places, I love getting up at 7am on a Sunday morning to trawl a car-boot for that perfect piece! I love meeting loved up couples and above all I love the look on their faces when they see their venue for the first time. Q: You most favourite wedding? – It is impossible to pick one as they have all been so different and beautiful. If I had to pick one that stood out though it would be at Two Woods Estate – Sussex where the couple got married in the red wood trees and I styled the meadow in a festival style. So chilled out and relaxed and sunny!!! Q: Peoples reaction to your business? - Once people really understand what is involved in the styling of a whole venue from concept through to completion they are a little shocked! I have been blown away by the amazing support from other business owners both in the wedding industry and beyond. When I launched TVHTC I was confident in my own ability but worried that it wouldn’t take off. I am so pleased with how far it has come and all of the beautiful weddings and events that it has been my pleasure to work on. Q: Your future plans So many!! Obviously to keep styling new and exciting weddings and there are many on the horizon. I have worked on some stunning styled shoots and these are invaluable to keep your styling skills up to date. It was such an honour to win a Wedding Industry Award last November so I would like another! Finally my love for vintage is on a par with my love for France so if anyone is having a destination wedding……..x

The Shoot With the beautiful backdrop of The Manor Country House Hotel, this was always going to be a stunning styled shoot for our feature venue for this edition of Inspired Brides magazine. As this is the spring edition I was keen to focus on a soft pale dogwood pink, with a strong floral theme with blossom shades. Alexandra Jane Photography captured the shoot beautifully, so we were able to showcase the stunning gowns from The Little Bridal Boutique. For the bridal look we had Jules Make Up Artistry & Hair Design working on the hair styling and creating the natural glowing bridal make up look to complement the pale pink colour theme. With a gorgeous floral crown designed by Gilly Page. To create the outdoor table dressing Amanda Thirlby Floral Design put together a wonderful table centre piece and bouquet that perfectly complemented the look. For the dressing of the table My Taylor Made Wedding dressed the table with their candles and hire accessories along with the stationery suite from Rose & Beau. The icing on top of the cake is the beautifully designed cake by Hayley's Cake Studio which was simply stunning. Written by Sarah Humphreys

REAL WEDDING

SIMPLY STUNNING Words By Sarah Humphreys

Photography By Michelle Hardy Photography

Venue Ettington Park Hotel

A beautiful summer wedding with a stunning outside ceremony in Warwickshire Gemma and Lloyd got married in the old Chapel Ruins in the grounds of Ettington Park Hotel, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire on the 8th July 2017. “The Ettington Park team where fabulous” said Gemma “and my wedding planner at the venue Janet really helped make planning my big day effortless. On the actually day Mike was on hand to make sure everything went smoothly, I couldn't thank him enough he was absolutely amazing.” “The theme we chose to style the wedding was a classic style with a vintage twist.” Said the bride “The hotel was so amazing I wanted to choose a theme that complimented it perfectly and the vintage twist was mainly to put a little bit of my own stamp on the day.” “My dress” continued the bride “was made by Ronald Joyce, it was a white Lace dress with little cap sleeves and buttons down the back. It had elegantly placed pearlised sequins dotted on the dress which looked amazing. The belt around the waist was a Satin ribbon with beaded detail on the front which added a little bit of glitz. The veil was also Roland Joyce it was a full length veil with little diamante crystals scattered which looked beautiful as it trailed down the back of the dress. The dress was from Romancia Ltd,Billinge. To compliment my dress, I chose my shoes from Karen Millen they were super high heeled, light gold crystal glitter court shoes.” “Lloyd wore a Aston & Gunn Sapphire Blue suit with matching waistcoat,” said the bride “with a pale pink tie and pocket square to match the wedding colours, from T M Lewin. His shoes where dark brown formal shoes from Kurt Geiger. I had five bridesmaids” continued Gemma “who all wore pearl pink strapless chiffon floor length dresses and matching pink court shoes. The shoes where from New look. Then my two flower girls wore pink and ivory dresses with matching pink shoes both from Monsoon.” “Our florist was Elizabeth Flowers.” Said Gemma “Beth was fantastic I showed her my ideas and we talked through all the details until we perfected the final choices. We chose a mixture of Pink and Ivory flowers. My bouquet was large pink avalanche roses in a circular style with the stems wrapped in ivory ribbon with a pearl pin.” Continued the bride “The bridesmaid had pink avalanche roses with gypsophila, the stems were wrapped in pink ribbons with pearl pins. The flower girls had special star wands with pink roses and ivory ribbon. Lloyd’ button hole was a single ivory avalanche rose with a pink stem rose, the stems where wrapped in ivory ribbon. The other wedding party guest had a mixture of these all these flowers.”

“My wedding cake was made by Gails Cake Pantry.” Said Gemma “My husband actually found Gail as he went to a wedding fayre at the venue alone as I was poorly. Gail gave him some samples to bring back for me, although he decided they had tasted that good he couldn’t help but eat them on the way home. Luckily a week or 2 later we made an appointment with Gail and she brought me all the flavours to try, they were absolutely amazing! We talked through the design I wanted which was a birdcage. It had 5 tiers all where covered in pink blush fondant” continued the bride “and decorated with ivory lace to create the birdcage. We had a tier of handmade sugar roses to match the wedding flowers and to add a little extra we had two doves and a heart on the top tier. The detailing of the cake was amazing I was really blown away with the cake on the day. Gail also made our wedding favours which where shortbread hearts with doves in matching colours to the cake.” “I enjoyed the entire day it was all so amazing.” Concluded the bride “But if I was to name one memorable moment it would be when we walked into the wedding breakfast as husband and wife and our very talented violinist played the Everton theme tune-Z Cars. It was a surprise from me to my husband and his face was a picture, he is a very big Everton fan.” Photography : www.michellehardyphotography.com Ettington Park Hotel : www.handpickedhotels.co.uk Wedding Dress : www.romanciabridal.co.uk Florist : www.elizabethsflowers.co.uk Cake : www.gailscakepantry.co.uk Event styling : www.themidlandseventscompany.co.uk Violinist : www.pete-hartley.co.uk Photobooth : www.atgphotobooths.co.uk
