The Shoot From the moment you step through the doors into Pittville Pump Room, your completely hit with a WOW...the room dimensions are unrivalled and the columns which encompass the room are so striking you will literally struggle to find a room with the same threshold appeal. Being the spring edition I really wanted to go to town with a big impact with a capital B. As the venues main room is so large the world is your oyster as far as adding impact to a room with such scale. Capturing the shoot on the day was award winning photographer Nikki Kirk Photography. Styling - Fetti & Bow styled the room with a selection of their speciality large balloons and balloon scapes, Cotswold vintage party hire brought along one of their beautiful sofas and dress one table dressing and place settings. Teapots & tiaras also created a stylish table dressing focusing on the 2017 spring pantone trend of Pale Dogwood ( soft pink) with a abundance of floral delights from A different colour Florist. Creative stationery designer Flourish & Lace had made the most delicate bespoke stationery set, which completely finished the look, it all sat on the My Lovely Trestle Table Hire.

With the theme being floral it was a natural choice to go for a floral gown, thanks to Boho Brides amazing dress selection, hair accessories comprised of a selection from All Things Lucy and a dried floral crown by Kimberley Simone. Hairdresser Tracey Anna Hair created two styles on the day and Christine Cara Make-up chose a beautiful natural Cotswolds bride colour palette to finish the bridal look perfectly. The men’s hire on the day was provided by Regency Groom. Written by Sarah Humphreys

MEET
CHRISTINE CARA MAKE-UP Christine is a Professional Freelance Make up Artist based in the Cotswold’s and Midlands, working across the country. She recently worked on the shoot for this month’smagazine, so we caught up with her to answer some question we thought our brides might like to read about. Q: What would you say is unique to working with Brides rather than your other type of work? A: It’s the most important day of a women’s life-that is the difference! It’s not just any day it’s THE day and having people involved in the preparationsthat understand how special it is, is vital. It’s a huge honor to be involved in the preparations for such a special day and helping to empower a bride to look and feel there very best is the most rewarding experience. Q: what is your most frequently asked question? A: Clients often ask me what the best foundation or mascara is. These are both tricky because not one product suits everyone, especially with foundations Therefore I always suggest when you are looking for a new foundation to try before you buy. . Either get the foundation tested on your skin first or ask for a sample. Give it a go on your skin and check the color in different lights, to ensure it matches your skin tone. My recommendation for mascara has been the same for a few years now. My all time favorite is the ‘Dior Iconic Overcurl’. I love this mascara for its beautiful lasting finish, as well as its curved brush, which gives the lashes a fluttery curled effect at the ends. A great one for brides and it comes in waterproof Q: What skin care advice do you give to your Bride’s in the lead up their wedding? A: My experience working in beauty and skin care has given me in depth knowledge into skin care and how important it is to create a healthy canvas for make up. As part of the experience when I work with a bride, is always to firstly talk through their skin care and consult them on what they are using and whether it’s correct and most beneficial. For example a lot of women tend to have a regime but often the products aren’t quite right for their skin type, so they quite often never get the effects they desire. My job is to work out that there current routine is correct and if not how they can improve it, sometimes its as simple as changing their cleanser or adding in an exfoliator a few times a week to brighten up their complexion.
You still want to look like YOU, just a enhanced version
Image credit | Nikki Kirk Photography
Q: what is your most popular make up look in Bridal? A: Every bride is different however I’d say in the Cotswold’s where I tend to work the most, my brides often like a flawless yet radiant and dewy complexion with more natural but slightly Smokey eyes. In fact a similar style to the shoot in the magazine and front cover. I’d call it a natural, beautiful look with a glamorous edge. I think it’s important to look classic and timeless whatever the make up. You still want to look like YOU, just an enhanced version… The most beautiful version of yourself! www.christinecaramakeup.com Instagram: @chriscaramua Facebook: Christine Cara Make up
Q: Why is it important to understand photographic make up, when doing a brides make up? A: Well of course most weddings have a photographer on board to capture their happy moments. When a bride receives their photos after the event, they want to see that their make up looks as fabulous as it did in the flesh. Having originally trained and worked in photographic and TV make up, I understand the importance of how photography and different lighting can effect make up and the type of product’s that are suitable for camera. For example-a foundation with a high SPF can sometimes create a ‘flash back’ effect on the skin when photography with flash is taken. This can create the skin to look white in pictures and isn’t hugely flattery. Not all foundations do this but it’s your make up artist’s job to have trialed and tested their products before hand so that they can ensue this won’t happen. Another aspect to make up in photography is explaining to my clients that the make up need’s to be the right amount so that it creates the definition you desire on camera. Photography often tones down make up; therefore it’s my job to create a look that you feel comfortable in but also looks great on camera. I do this buy using the correct products that I know last and have a flattery finish as well making my bride still feel comfortable in what they have on.

FABULOUS FESTIVAL WEDDING Words By Sarah Humphreys
Photography By Flash Charlie Wedding Photography
A fun filled outdoor festival themed wedding day in Staffordshire, with stunning rainy day wedding photography Helen & Tom got married at Parkside Farm, Gayton, Staffordshire on Saturday 3rd September, 2016. “We got married in a registry office a few days before with just our parents and siblings” said Helen “it was really casual. We then had a Humanist service in the tipi under an arch that we had decorated with greenery and flowers. It was a short service and we made up our own vows.” "The field at Parkside Farm“ continued the bride “has fishing lakes in it, so the tipis were erected beside the water. We had 2 x giant hat tipis adjoining, with a pagoda tent added onto the side to function as a bar area. Then after the service we rearranged the seating to make the tipi into a different layout (military operation!).” “For our theme” said Helen “We wanted it to feel like a festival as we love going to music festivals. We especially wanted a massive party for our friends and family and were keen for it to be really different.” Said the bride “ We appreciate everyone likes different things but we feel like we’ve been to lots of weddings that were similar so really wanted ours to be a bit different and memorable. We wanted it to be as non-traditional and informal as possible as aren’t really a fan of the traditions.” "My dress was Ivory lace, fairly straight style, straps, low back, floor length with train, I also wore a flower crown of lavender and gypsophila, made by my local florist.” Said Helen “ For my jewelry I wore vintage earrings made from marcasite, which were clip on’s, and a thin pearl necklace, both left from Great Aunt. My shoes were cheap as chips from Marks & Spencer, nude sling-back heels with some silver on (they were always going to get ruined in a field so I didn’t want to spend much).” “Tom wore a brown waistcoat, white shirt, blue trousers, brown belt and brown shoes, white and yellow flowery bowtie. Groomsmen all in similar attire but they all chose their own waistcoats so they all differed slightly and they all wore slim yellow ties instead of a bowtie in the floral material” continued Helen “For the bridesmaid's Dresses they all chose their own dress, all in a shade of grey that they chose, so some wore short dresses, some long, some strapless, some strappy.” “We decorated the venue with festival style flags in yellow and purple silk, bunting in grey, yellow, lavender and purple everywhere, and festival-style signs.” Said the bride “also Jam jars wrapped with lace or hessian or brown twine, dotted around with flowers in or tea lights.”
Inspired Brides | Spring Edition

“On the tables the centre pieces of each table were different gin bottles, I did the flowers myself” continued the bride “Gypsophila and lavender throughout whole venue, bridesmaids’ bouquets all gypsophila, bride’s bouquet gypsophila, lavender and yellow freesias, I also made the buttonholes. All of the flowers were wrapped with brown twine. We also had lanyards for guests that acted as name places on the tables before they put them on. The table names were individual unique (empty) bottles of gin as we are massive gin fans. The table plan was done like a line-up for a festival.” “Outside we had shepherds crooks with lanterns on them from Ikea lining the edge of the lake, and also paper bag lanterns, there was also hay bales and patio furniture dotted about” said Helen “and also children’s games. We mowed pathways the day before, just to mark out more clearly where to walk and lined the pathways with coloured ribbon on sticks. We also had large letters saying EASTIVAL – Tom’s surname is Eastup (and now mine) so we named the whole thing EASTIVAL.” “We planned for every eventuality with the weather” concluded the bride “definitely do this. Despite trying so hard to not get bothered by the rain I still cried fleetingly about it – just prepare for rain so you’re not disappointed!”

Fall In Love With Pinterest WRITTEN BY VICTORIA HALL
Wedding planning used to start with nipping out to the shops and returning home laden with the latest glossy bridal magazines. The pages would become ragged but their promises of a wonderful day stayed very much intact. Now it’s all gone digital. Pinterest is the online mood board which has changed the wedding world. So how does it work? You use the search bar to find images of flowers, table centrepieces and, of course, the dress. You save them to your own pinboards, and keep on going until all that’s missing from the equation is the picture of the groom. But how do you actually create this in reality? Firstly, it pays to be specific. Let’s say that you have decided on a blue colour scheme for your wedding. However, type “blue wedding” into Pinterest to find ideas and the choice will be overwhelming. There’s a lot of shades of blue! The best way to differentiate and make your theme more specific? Sit down with your partner and work out what makes you unique and weave those ideas into your theme. Once you start to do this, it becomes ‘your wedding’ with all your personal touches. The second piece of advice is to start early which allows you more time to discover new ideas, and see your vision come together in front of your eyes. The first thing I ask my clients to do before I meet them is to send me their pinterest board - it’s great to see where their head's at, and how I can create a realistic version of this for their wedding day.
Pinning ideas is also a great way for suppliers to understand what you really mean. A long-winded email describing what you’re after is incomparable to a picture which conveys this perfectly. And don’t forget, you pick your suppliers for a reason - because you like what they do. Show them your pinterest board, but trust them to take your vision and put a unique stamp on it. After all, you want your guests to be wowed at the unreplicatable style of your day. It’s a great idea to have a Pinterest board to refer to. But it’s very important to remain realistic and keep in mind that it’s really just a point of reference. Be open to new ideas and rest assured you will love your real wedding even more than your pinned version.

VINTAGE FETE BARN WEDDING Words By Sarah Humphreys
Photography By Nikki Kirk Photography
A relaxed and fun vintage barn wedding in Gloucestershire, with a touch of elegance. Katie & Joe got married at St Peters Church, Stanway with the reception at Stanway House Tythe Barn on 6th August 2016. “We both love the vintage look and wanted a wedding that was relaxed and fun. Our theme was a rustic, vintage fete with a touch of elegance.” said Katie “My wedding dress was by Pronovias and was a satin a-line. It had a v shaped gathered front, which gradually went out to a pleated skirt. I also had a bow added to the back of the dress going town to the train and a belt with glittery gems on the waist. I felt amazing and so comfortable. It even had pockets!! My shoes” continued the bride “were from Nine west. They were a rose gold court shoe and had a beautiful shimmer to them. They were very comfy for the whole day, even with all the dancing!” “Joe wore a blue herringbone suit from Next, pink bow tie from etsy and brown suede boots from Dune.” Said the bride “I had 4 stunning bridesmaids and a flowergirl. Joe’s sister and 3 of my close friends were bridesmaids. My friend’s daughter was the flower girl.” “Our florist was Broadway Florists,” said Katie “it was Shelley who created our bouquets, she was lovely and listened to everything that we wanted. I went for a loose country style with a lovely mix of flowers, including pale pink roses, freesias and stocks. When I saw the bouquets and flower girl flower band I was amazed at how stunning they looked. For the flowers arranged in the barn we sourced our own flowers and we were lucky enough to have talented friends and family to help with the arrangement in the barn and church.” “For the cake we wanted a simple elegant cake, so went for a 3 tiered cake with an individual flower design on each layer,” continued the bride “It looked and tasted amazing! We had carrot cake, sponge cake and fruit cake tiers. Dawn also made a fantastic cake topper of us that was so detailed, we put this separately to the cake with cupcakes around it.” “The barn was a blank canvas,” said the bride “so all of the venue decoration was completed by ourselves and very kind family and friends. My mum and mother in law made the masses of colourful bunting and cupcakes for the canapés. My talented cousin made us the awesome DIY photo-booth, we arranged our own flowers on the tables and in the pews of the church and the favours were created using mini bottles which we filled with tea leaves. My mum and a good family friend also created beautiful dried hydrangea hearts, and helped with all of the decoration and set up throughout the barn.”

“One of our favourite moments of the day was seeing everyone dancing the night away and enjoying themselves. Most importantly for us, we were lucky enough to be joined on the dance floor by our grandparents” concluded the bride. “ It really is worth while having a try at some DIY projects” said Katie “as it not only makes the day feel more special but can save on what can become an ever expanding budget. I really did love planning our wedding and the crafty/ baking days”

YOUR ULTIMATE WEDDING STATIONERY GUIDE Once you’ve chosen your venue and date, it’s time to start thinking about inviting your friends and family to celebrate your wedding with you! Working with a wedding stationer means you can make sure all your wedding stationery coordinates beautifully, from your save the dates all the way through to your thank you cards. Choose a design which works with the theme, style and formality of your wedding, or commission something completely bespoke. Check out our handy guide for what to order and when! ● Save the dates Once you’ve written your guest list, you should order and post out save the dates 8–12 months before your wedding. Save the dates are not essential, but they are a fun way to get your guests exciting about celebrating with you, and we do recommend them if your wedding is on a busy summer or bank holiday weekend, overseas, or if many of your guests will have a long journey to reach you. ● Wedding Invitations When your guests receive an invitation to your wedding, you’re not only letting them know all the details, but you’re also setting the scene and giving your guests a hint of what to expect on your wedding day. They also make a wonderful keepsake! It’s a good idea to send an RSVP card with your invitation to encourage timely replies and we recommend setting your RSVP return date 6–8 weeks before your wedding. Many couples also include an information card where you can let your guests know about nearby accommodation, directions and transport options, the dress code, and your gift list. Plus, don’t be afraid to get creative and add beautiful envelope liners or even a bespoke wax seal! You’ll want to post your invitations to your guests about 3 months before your wedding if you’ve sent save the dates, or a little earlier if you haven’t. Allow 2–3 months to order and receive your invitations and to give you enough time to get those envelopes addressed! ● On the Day Stationery It’s a good idea to start thinking about the stationery you’ll need for the big day itself once you’ve sent your invitations, and to get everything ordered as soon as you have all your RSVPs back and know final numbers. Most couples opt for orders of service, menus, place cards, table numbers, a seating plan and a guest book. You could also include signage to welcome guests to your wedding or to direct them around the venue. ● Thank You Cards Once you’ve returned from your honeymoon and unwrapped all your wedding gifts it’s time to start writing thank you cards. Make sure to include a thoughtful handwritten thank you in each card, and try and send them within 3 months of your big day, but better late than never! REAL WEDDING
RUSTIC COUNTRY BARN Words By Sarah Humphreys
Photography By Poppy K Photography
A beautifully relaxed rustic barn wedding in the stunning Staffordshire countryside “Our celebrations were held in a converted barn at Blakelands Country House,” said Fiona “which is set in a rural backdrop so we went with a rustic theme. Lots of hessian bunting was involved! We are also quite a relaxed couple and didn't want a really formal day, so the rustic theme suited us perfectly.” “My dress was exactly what I initially said I didn't want!” continues the bride “I definitely didn't want a strapless dress, I wanted a Grecian style dress. It just shows that when you start looking and trying on you should be open to all styles. Grecian just wasn't right for our rustic wedding and it turned out that I loved the strapless dresses.” Said Fiona “Shoe’s wise, I bought a lovely pair of nude coloured Biba block heel shoes for the day. The block heel was great as I didn't have to worry about sinking in grass or wobbling down the cobbled paths and aisle. At night time I changed into some nude converse trainers as being able to dance was a priority for the evening!” “The groomsmen all wore navy lounge suits with contrasting tweed accessories which we felt was quite relaxed.” Said the bride “Ed was the only one that wore a tweed waistcoat to distinguish himself as the groom. I also had two adult bridesmaids (my oldest and best friends) and three flower girls who are our nieces.” “ The bouquets and button holes were from Richards florists in Wolverhampton.” Said Fiona “All the other flowers we prepared ourselves. Ed's mum prepared all of the table flowers and the pew ends in the church. For our top table we made a rustic window box and filled it with our favourite flowers. This was inexpensive and meant it was something we could keep afterwards. We made as many things as we could which as well as keeping costs down, also meant we achieved the exact look we wanted. We made all of the table decorations which included about 50 jars and Ed also made all of the log slices himself.” “For our wedding cake we went for a naked wedding cake to sit with our rustic theme.” Continued the bride “It certainly seemed to go down well with our guests,” “My memorable moment was, Ed desperately wanted our dog to be involved in the wedding in some way” Fiona told us “ which I point blank refused (so he thought). Instead I arranged for our dog sitter to bring Ernie to the church and he was waiting outside for us when we came out. I definitely think it was Eds favourite part of the day, he was very surprised!”

“Work out what your priorities are and focus on those” concluded the bride “ We really wanted a video of the day but felt it was maybe too much of a luxury. We thought that we would end up regretting not doing it, so instead looked for ways to make cost adjustments that wouldn’t have much of an impact. By little tweaks to the drinks packages (that no one would even notice) we were soon able to cover the cost of a videographer and we were very glad that we did. Also pick food that you would consider YOUR favourites, as at the end of the day, it’s your day and you should enjoy it!”
