The 24-28 January Las Vegas Market proved it was not only North African deserts that were worth paying attention to, with a wide variety of US inspired styles. As is usual, more classical cabinet designs pre-dominated but in upholstery European looks were more in evidence – although still out numbered by large traditional US shapes. Visitor numbers grew by 9% compared the January 2010 show and by 25% compared with the previous summer exhibition. ‘There was a sense of “let's play to win”. It was probably our strongest market in Las Vegas, both in terms of attendance and sales, in three years,’ says Robert Maricich, World Market Center Las Vegas president and ceo. ‘The energy was palpable, which I think was a reflection of what's happening at the macroeconomic level.’ The next show takes place from 1-5 August, followed by 30 January - 2 February and 30 July - 2 August 2012.
