July: Why not, eh? Golf is a fore letter word...:

Maybe we should be calling this the Fore! Word, as the city’s going to be the golfing capital of the country at the beginning of the month when the SCOTTISH OPEN comes to its new home at Castle Stuart. It’s looking unlikely that Rory McIlroy will be taking part after all, but there should be plenty of the world’s best and a better than even chance of bumping into a household name in the street. There’ll be more visitors to Inverness than ever before, but that’s just the start of a month that positively bursting at the seams with things to see and do. Like cover stars SIMPLE MINDS playing with BIG COUNTRY right in the heart of the city, nu-folk queen LAURA MARLING coming up for a Highland tour and, of course, the family-friendly fest that is TARTAN HEART. It’s not just music though, with big events like INVERNESS HIGHLAND GAMES, BLACK ISLE SHOW and MOY FAIR also bound to attract big crowds, while you can also take in a SWIM ACROSS LOCH NESS, an all night WOLFTREK or a bit of ART AND SKATEBOARDING. Not to mention JOSEPH AND THE TECHNICOLOUR DREAMCOAT, JUST LAUGH COMEDY NIGHT and much, much more. All this and it’s only July. We’ve a feeling it’s going to be rather a busy summer. Hold... and... We’re always pleased to see the cultural powers that be trying to engage with the public in an innovative manner and some of the best stuff seems to happen, curiously enough in the environs of the ROSE STREET MULTI-STOREY CAR PARK. Last year it was the hub of the GETTING UP art and music project, more recently it hosted OPERA and now Capital Skate Park and Inverness Old Town Art (IOTA) present a day/night mixture for ALL AGES with music, DJing, art, design - and even a bit of skateboard action! AFTERNOON 3–7pm: The afternoon sees the Spectrum centre playing host to loads of activities from 3pm, including Drop-in Workshops in DJ-ing , T-Shirt Printing and Skateboarding, an Art Exhibition and more. EARLY EVENING 7–9pm: From 7pm you can enjoy live music from COCO MAJESTIC and other performers. NIGHT 9–10pm: When darkness falls, the bottom floor of the car park is the venue for an Electronic Ceilidh with artists’ projections, live sounds and much dancing. All sounds like excellent stuff and a mention must go to the admirably open-minded car park team for transforming what could have been an architectural eyesore into something a little magical. Taking the colours of the titles from those of the French flag, the separate parts have provoked much debate and rather neatly defined as an anti-tragedy, an anti-comedy, and an anti-romance, beginning with the story of a woman, played by Juliette Binoche, dealing with life after losing her husband and child in a car accident. The three films constitute a towering piece of work, with Irene Jacob s wonderful performance in Red perhaps the highlight. You can see the trilogy at Eden Court with Blue on 12 Jul, White on 26 Jul and Red on 09 Aug.

SIMPLE MINDS & BIG COUNTRY: Northern Meeting Park, Sat 16 Jul There was a time, back in the post-punk maelstrom, when no one was quite sure how modern pop was going to reshape itself. Only one thing was sure – that it was going to involve electronic machines, cold steel and bright, bright lights. Nowhere was it better summed up than on two simultaneously released albums from Simple Minds, Sons And Fascination and Sister Feelings Call, which genuinely did feel like a soundtrack to Blade Runner or something, and just as thrillingly contemporary. With the sound further honed on the best-selling New Gold Dream, the band laid the foundation for a career that’s lasted, in various incarnations, for thirty years. And a gig that, as part of Summer In The City, sees the potential for gigs at Northern Meeting Park finally being fulfilled. Because, while Simple Minds’ music these days has perhaps more of the realignment of stadium rock than the pristine electronica of their early releases, there’s no denying the irresistibility of songs like “Promised You A Miracle”, “Love Song”, “The American”and hits “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” and “Belfast Child”. To hear just those few cascade around the centre of Inverness would be worth the admission alone. Another band who’ve lasted almost as long are BIG COUNTRY, although the absence of Stuart Adamson inevitably looms over any ensuing incarnation. Nevertheless, his spirit still surges through a distinctively Scottish rock sound and enough great songs to make it worth getting there early. The whole day kicks off with local favourites THE SIDE and Glasgow based trio GoGoBot, who’ll also soundtrack the official aftershow at Ironworks from 10pm. BELLADRUM TARTAN HEART FESTIVAL: Belladrum Estate by Beauly, Fri 05–Sat 06 Aug For many, the most cherished festival of the year is Tartan Heart Festival at Belladrum. Now in its eighth year, its strength lies in a self-created sense of identity, presenting itself as a family-friendly escape, where the real pleasures come as much from roaming performance artists or stumbling across a hitherto unheard of folk act from Arkansas, as from witnessing the usual roster of high profile acts doing the festival circuit or just from the plain old fun of dressing up (nb - this year’s theme is SPACE...). There s been a surge of popularity for choral music in recent years, undoubtedly helped by the many TV programmes showcasing such things. And this month sees visits by a couple of notable entourages. They re made up of folk from all walks of life in the Round Rock area in the Hill County of Texas, ranging from students to retirees and have already made several European singing tours. The queue for Mumford and Sons tickets stretched half way to Pitlochry when the Brit winning nu-folksters came to town a few months back and even if you sensed people were attending because they felt they ought to rather than out of any long-held love for the genre, it at least suggested that some were prepared to open their ears to something a little diﬀerent. So we re expecting many of the same punters to be out in force for Laura Marling, long time collaborator with the Mumfords and one of the driving forces behind the popularity of the sound, with just as many awards and accolades to her name. Like them she seems to have fallen a little in love with the Highlands, embarking on a similar tour of all points North on the eve of the release of her third album A Creature I Don t Know . INVERNESS HIGHLAND GAMES & ARMED FORCES DAY: Northern Meeting Park, Sat 23 July, from Noon The Inverness Highland Games and Armed Forces Day Celebrations return on July 23rd and this year’s Inverness Gathering looks set to attract another bumper crowd of enthusiastic locals and visitors to one of our favourite spots in Inverness, Northern Meeting Park. Built in 1864 and looking splendid once again after some much appreciated tender loving care and a paint job, the World’s oldest Highland Games stadium is enjoying a new lease of life and must surely be getting close to getting awarded one of those blue signs for special buildings by now. INVERNESS HIGHLAND GAMES & ARMED FORCES DAY: Northern Meeting Park, Sat 23 July, from Noon This year’s event will start at noon with the Inverness Festivals Band providing entertainment in the City Centre as 9 (count ‘em) pipe bands and hundreds of marchers assemble in the High Street area. Across the river the strains of piping will be heard along the riverbank as the Waterside Hotel sponsored solo piping competitions organised by Inverness Piping Society get underway on the lawn outside Eden Court Theatre. The piping attracts a large and appreciative crowd throughout the day and once again the senior competition for the Donnie Manson Memorial Cup is expected to be fiercely contested with a number of Scotland’s finest pipers appearing on the day. At 1pm all eyes will turn to the city centre as the 9 bands and over 800 veterans, cadets and serving personnel from all over the Highlands form up to march through the streets of Inverness to the Town House for the salute, before crossing the bridge and heading to Northern Meeting Park. With hundreds of spectators expected to follow the band, creating one of the biggest parades ever seen through the Highland Capital, arrangements have been made for tickets to be on sale in the City Centre from 10am at the Town House, so don’t forget to buy your ticket in advance if you wish to avoid the queue. Entry to the ground will be via Ardross Street. This year’s Armed Forces ceremony will feature performances by the massed pipes and drums, presentation of veteran’s badges and a Drumhead Service led by the Reverend Peter Howson in memory of all those who gave their lives in defence of our country. Last year the cheers when the veterans proudly marched from the field could be heard across the river in the High Street and another well deserved ovation is expected. The salute will be taken by Guest of Honour Major General Seymour Monro CBE LVO; the Lord Lieutenant of Inverness Donald Cameron of Lochiel and Provost Jimmy Gray who well then take centre stage as Games Chieftain to declare this year’s Inverness Highland Games open. The opening ceremony for this year’s Highland Games will start with the playing of The Inverness

Gathering and will be followed by a mass Highland Fling featuring dancers from the Elizabeth Fraser and Edith Macpherson Schools of Highland Dancing. The dancers who will be performing in the main arena throughout the afternoon and will be joined by the Inverness Scottish Country Dancers and the Falcon Drummers; while in the Traders Village area, the newly formed Inverness Festivals Band will make their debut at the Games presenting a toe-tapping feast of traditional music from 2.30pm. The heavy events will commence at 2.30pm with the Scots Hammer which will be followed by the Weight for Distance at 3.15pm, Inverness Stone at 3.45pm, Weight Over the Bar at 4.30pm and Tossing the Caber around 5.15pm. Don’t forget to bring your camera because after the Games the crowd will be invited on to the field to discover just how difficult it is to lift the various items that the Heavies launch effortlessly through the year. The whole of the car park at the rear of the Highland Council HQ will be transformed into a Traders Village complete with bar and hot food and in the main arena there will be military displays for everybody to enjoy. Tickets for the Gathering cost £6 for adults and £3 for Under 18’s and Senior Citizens. Under fives get in for free. Car Parking is available at Bught Park and there will be a shuttle bus along the riverside. Disabled Car Parking is available at the front of the Highland Council HQ.

It was enticing enough at its previous Loch Lomond home, but this looks like being an even greater success with north of 50,000 visitors predicted by some and participants to include around eight of the world’s top ten golfers. And even if Boy Wonder McIlroy doesn’t compete, there’s the thrilling prospect of Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, Phil Mickelson, Graeme McDowell, and Martin Kaymer continuing their tussle to top the rankings, plus Justin Rose, Padraig Harrington and with Monty trying to qualify for the Open at Sandwich a week later... not to mention a lovely course in a wonderful setting.

Will Rory come? That’s bound to be the question on everybody’s lips as the tournament that’s arguably second only to the Open itself comes to the Highlands for the first time.

Peter Allis will be waxing lyrical on the BBC coverage about sharing a single malt with Colonel Bufton McTufton, but better still will be to take in the whole experience in the flesh. There’s a bus shuttle from town and there’ll also be plenty of street entertainment in Inverness itself for the duration of the tournament. Wolves WICKED WOLF TRIATHLON: Carrbridge, Sat 23 Jul

No real wolves back in the Highlands just yet, but a couple of different events with that name and a clue as to where the moniker comes from. Testing your limits in the loveliest of locations. It begins with a 5km kayak (2km longer than last year) from the beach at Lochindorb, around the 13th century ruined castle – lair of the notorious Wolf of Badenoch. From there it’s a spectacularly scenic 30km mountain bike ride over the Lochindorb moor towards Carr-bridge – taking in amazing views of the Cairngorms – then a 10km run around the pretty woodlands of Carr-Bridge with a finale finish in the heart of the village. People can enter either as a team of three – doing one section each – or they can sign up as a solo entry. Places are limited to 55 entries so anyone who fancies taking part had better sign up sharpish. www.wickedwolftriathlon.co.uk

Forres to Cairngorm Mountain, Sat 06 & Sun 07 Aug More lupine character building with one of our favourite events, now in its fourth year. Participants will have just 24 hours to complete a stunning 45 mile route from Forres to Cairngorm Mountain, with the added thrill of crossing the remote Dava Moor, another legendary home of the aforementioned Wolf of Badenoch, this time doing so under cover of darkness. Created by Forres based charity WildHearts, the WolfTrek route has been designed to take participants through a microcosm of Highland wilderness, packed with diverse terrain, landscapes and wildlife. Whilst the most adventurous will have the opportunity to tackle the whole 45 mile trek, the challenge has also been broken down into three, 15 mile stages, which can be tackled as a team relay effort. There is also an option to sample a “bite-sized” 17 mile version of the trek by completing the Midnight March, from Forres to the shores of ghostly Lochindorb. WildHearts provide micro-loans and business training to people living in poverty in the developing world, enabling them to work their own way out of poverty. MONSTER SWIM 2011: Loch Ness, Wed 13 Jul Has Nessie been notiﬁed about this? It s certainly a fantastic location for an open-water swim, containing as it does more of the fresh wet stuﬀ than all the other lakes in the UK combined. So, with this event you not only get to raise money for charity, but also get to immerse yourself in a loch that s geologically unmatchable. And that s not to mention the possibility of getting munched by a monster. Surely there s a movie to be made. The day consists of two options: The Big Yin is a one mile swim, the longest of the day, heading out from Dores Beach towards the centre of the Loch before turning towards the northern shore, while the Wee Nessie is a half-miler, starting from the same point and heading towards Dores Peninsula. Al MURRAY: Ironworks, Sat 23 Jul The second time that Mr Murray has come up here in recent months, this date rearranged from June. Why? Well, this could be the finest excuse we’ve ever heard. He was double booked that day having to forego the ‘Ness to play drums at the Download Festival in his band T-34. You’ll obviously be aware that it takes its name from the most successful medium sized tank of the Second World War, betraying Murray’s fascination with military history. And allows him to indulge in a whole set of classic rock cover versions. Perhaps he’ll bring them up here one day, but until then we’ll settle for a reprise of his more familiar persona as The Pub Landlord. The last Ironworks show went down a storm (even if one rather over refreshed lady had to be removed by paramedics) so you can expect this one to be just as good. We’re still not convinced about his new TV show with a chicken as a prize, but he’s honed this character to perfection. COMEDY

COMEDY Over the past couple of years there’s been a real boom in opportunities to catch comedy in the city, with most of the major comedians including Inverness on their tour schedule. Of course the real art is in maintaining a balance between bringing the big names (and their attendant ticket prices) and keeping momentum going with something more regularly affordable. The Gilded Balloon nights at Eden Court and regular events at Ceol Mor have done just that and now it’s the turn of Hush to put on what looks like being a great night. Working with the Just Laugh comedy club, a network that currently includes nights in Perth, Dundee and Stirling, it’s headed by renowned funnyman Bruce Fummey and he’ll be compering a top notch line up of rising stars in the form of Mark Nelson, Danny Angelo and Teddy. OUTDOOR THEATRE Always good to see shows from the excellent Illyria Theatre Company and they’re making plenty of appearances over the next month with a variety of shows. Whether performing classical, children’s theatre or Shakespeare they’re always keen to make sure that what could be the audience’s first exposure to the dramatic arts is a memorable experience. And that’s sure to be the case with their current roster of productions. They’re doing an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s chicken rustling tale, FANTASTIC MR FOX at Logie Steading on Wed 13 Jul at 5pm and again at Duff House, Banff on Thu 14. Presented by Open Book, directed by Marcus Roche and with a concept design by Patricia Niemann, this is a Macbeth for the Highlands from the Highland theatre company who brought Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet to schools and communities across the North in 2010. Set around a dinner table, we’re told that “the entire play will take place in one room placing the banquet at the centre of the action and with the audience as guests. This time it’s a puppet show for adults from the excellent Zenwing Puppets Company, telling the tale of a diva and magician meeting in a Highland hotel. Devised and written by Andy Jones, it takes in a comedy murder mystery and a trip on the Highland Express where the aforementioned shortbread gets proffered. 4,999 Trees Can’t Be Wrong... For a while now I’ve felt something was missing from last year, couldn’t quite put my finger on it but I’ve been vaguely aware of the lack of something. It should have happened but it didn’t (note ‘should have’ not ‘should of’). . . Last week, I realised what it was. I didn’t have my yearly rant – rant’s probably too strong a word for it – gripe’s better, yes let’s say gripe. What was wrong with last year was, I didn’t have my annual gripe about how early Christmas starts. I remember now, it was September when I noticed that the festive treats had been in the shops for quite a long time already, but as I prepared to write about this I realised that what with the publishing deadline and printing and delivery schedules etc, you wouldn’t get to read it until October and possibly late October at that. It’s one thing to complain about Christmas being all over the shops in early August but by October it’s just too late - especially since by then there were crème eggs for sale at certain checkouts. You’d be laughing at me rather than joining me for a scoff at the silly people who start to fret about buying cards and wrapping paper in the middle of the summer. I won’t miss out this year, thanks to something that happened last week. It’s Monday June 13th as I write this, so last week in this instance was early June, specifically Thursday the 9th. It was late evening and I was catching up on recent happenings in world affairs of the extra marital kind, entertainment and general gossip – in other words reading a tabloid newspaper. Tabloids are good at the end of the day when you don’t want to go to bed worrying about what’s actually going on in the world. Then it happened, I turned over the page from a sweet little article about a lady with a man’s name, Gordon or something, and who she is currently dating - apparently who ever it is they don’t compare well against Peter Andre - and there, occupying a full page and in full colour (which must cost a fortune in a national daily newspaper) it was: An advert for Christmas trees! Remember it’s June the 9th.

The ad advises me to act promptly to secure one of the only four thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine trees available worldwide - promptly!? it’s June the 9th! I could probably grow a tree from a pine cone in time for Christmas, whether I acted promptly or not. As a side note don’t you wonder why they only made 4,999 of them - why not make tens of thousand while you’re at it and if you are only going to make a limited number why 4,999 rather than five thousand? Do you think maybe they did make five thousand and there was some sort of hideous moment with a desperate dog and a lack of lamp-posts and they reckoned ‘no way we can sell that one’ but since that one still exists, albeit a bit stinky they can’t make another because then there’d be 5,001 trees in existence and someone might find out and make a documentary about it and they’d get into serious trouble from The National Newspaper Safe Home Order Protection Scheme (S.H.O.P.S) for hiding the awful truth about the incident with the dog? Actually, as I read on, the tree in the advert is kind of neat. It’s nearly 7 foot tall but collapses back into a heap of just a few inches, for storage. It’s already decorated and has two hundred mini-lights built right in. I’m almost reaching for my credit card. . . but it is only June and they’ve brought Christmas into our lives a full six months too early and for that they must be punished with a no-sale from me. And besides, there’s a pine cone lying on my lawn and an horticultural experiment just crying out to be made. . . KEN

The Review: RIVA 4-6 NESS WALK INVERNESS 01463 237377 While the culinary landscape of Inverness might have changed dramatically over the last decade, there are several establishments still standing that have not only weathered the increased competition, but continue to thrive. And that’s invariably a mark of just how effectively they’ve discovered a winning formula and continued to build on it to appeal to an increasingly sophisticated audience who are no longer content merely with seeing eating as a way of filling up to fend off the cold. Among that roster of great survivors, one of the greatest of them all is surely RIVA, a local institution with one of the very best locations in town – right opposite the castle. Setting aside the fact that the castle itself is singularly

the worst used potential tourist location in the western world (“Come See The Castle That’s Really A Court!”), there’s no denying it looks impressive, making the view from the window of Riva a worthy vista of choice for every visitor. And it’s that crowd, fresh off the daily coach tour round the Highlands that you sense makes up a sizeable proportion of Riva’s early evening clientele, further attracted by a great value early evening set meal. It’s billed as “pre-theatre” which always seems redolent of living in Victorian times, but there is at least some possibility that diners will be chowing down before heading off for a little thespian sustenance what with Eden Court being considerably less than a stone’s throw away. Probably sounds better than “pre-heading-home-to-catchHollyoaks” though. And there’s no denying it is remarkable value as numerous previous

visits have proved. Years may come and years may go, but the quality of cooking has remained of a standard a cut above most of Riva’s competitors. Not that you’d know if you looked the place up on that internet. Inexplicably a slating from one previous customer has bobbed to the top of Google’s search results, obscuring a host of far more positive reactions. And the restaurant’s own website has, we are told somewhat cryptically, been “disabled”. Hopefully just an oversight because for a place that gets so much else right, it appears sloppy to have abandoned any self-promotional web presence. On the night we visit, the skies are unleashing a typical summer downpour, making the castle look all the more broodingly spectacular and, while the restaurant is

almost empty when we arrive, it soon fills up, the charming staff handling what must be a regular surge of customers with calm aplomb, even seeming to anticipate what food people will be requiring and directing the folk that require it to the sister pizza joint upstairs. It’s there that you can find some of the best pizzas in town, but a decision has obviously been made to keep the two outlets separate, allowing the downstairs to concentrate on a distinctively refined take on Italian cooking. While we’re deciding on what to have, there’s a nice complementary bowl of fresh bread with an accompanying saucer of top-notch olive oil and balsamic. The option of butter might have been nice too, but we soon polish it off in a proudly continental manner. My companion decides to order just from the set menu, leaving

me free to roam the extensive à la carte options, all of which are hugely tempting. Nevertheless, I eventually shun the likes of Tomato & Mozzarella Salad, Grilled King Prawns with Saffron Aioli and Summer Isle Hot Smoked Salmon with Roast Beetroot – for the deceptively simple Antipasto. It’s a beautifully presented selection of salami, Parma ham, baby mozzarella, olives and leaves with a nicely judged dressing, tasting just as elegant as it looks and emphasising what has been evident on every previous visit, that whoever’s in the kitchen knows just how to balance the look of a dish with the opportunity to let the quality of the ingredients shine through. And that care isn’t just confined to the à la carte options. My companion’s Duo Di Crostini looks just as splendid, comprising of toasted crostini with goats cheese,

rocket and tomato as well as a “cheeky bit of red onion in there for some kick, all brought together with lovely fresh basil dressing.” There’s an admirable resistance to the concept of piling the plate high in some sort of ludicrous attempt to pretend that sheer quantity is what makes a great meal, so while the portion size might appear modest, there are enough interesting flavour combinations to make for a very satisfying starter. My companion’s main course, again from the set menu, is another example of restraint and simplicity. Penne al Salmone is a simple bowl of salmon pasta, but executed with real skill. “Perfectly cooked pasta with unbroken smoked salmon chunks,” he notes, adding that the white wine and herby cream sauce binds the whole thing together rather than drowns it, making for a

memorable example of how pasta can still serve as perfect light, summer food. You get the feeling that in lesser hands the temptation would have been to end up with something of a ribsticker, but this turns out pretty delightful. My main is the day’s daily special, Sea Trout, a glorious fish that’s all too often underused and underappreciated. Not something that’s likely to happen once you’ve tried it as it’s served here. A neat, panfried fillet with deliciously crispy skin sits atop braised, almost confit potatoes and what could be either onion or baby fennel, the whole crowned with brown shrimps and surrounded by a citrusy butter sauce. It’s a symphony of colour and taste with, at its heart, the clean, delicate flavour of the gorgeous pink sea trout, perfectly combined with the richness of the shrimps and a buttery sauce

that adds indulgence but never overwhelms. Very nice indeed. For pudding there are again plenty of great sounding options, with Rhubarb Jelly Served with Minted Pineapple Carpaccio and Fontina Cheese with Oatcakes, Poached Pear & Chutney both sounding highly appealing. They don’t quite make the cut though and my companion settles instead for that Italian restaurant favourite, Tiramisu, having a hunch that if anyone can do it justice it’ll be Riva. And it’s faith well rewarded as he’s presented with a tremendous strippeddown version consisting of “gorgeous cream Mascarpone layers, with dipped (not drenched) layers of spongeesque in a fresh tasting coffee” accompanied by a homemade hazelnut cookie on the side. My pudding is a warm Lemon Polenta Tart, giving me a chance to revisit an ingredient,

polenta, which as a savoury staple always seems to promise rather more than it delivers. Here however it works just fine, giving the tart a texture somewhere between cake and Bakewell Tart, the fresh lemon tang offset by vanilla Mascarpone and blueberries. A zinging end to a really good meal that’s satisfyingly flavoursome without ever being too heavy. Another reminder then of just why Riva has not only lasted so long, but how it continues to set a benchmark for how such an enterprise can continue to enchant. If you’ve never been before you’re in for a treat and it’s pretty certain you’ll return again and again. Nothing is certain in the restaurant world, but it’s a pretty safe bet that Riva will still be leading the pack in another decade’s time. Total for 2 (exc. drinks): £53.90

HSPC takes greener option for Property Review Highland Solicitors Property Centre is taking a further significant step in its aim to improve its environmental performance. With up to 17,000 copies of the HSPC Property Review printed 25 times a year, the HSPC has been looking at ways to save paper and energy in its production. After examining a number of options, the HSPC board has taken the decision to move the publication onto a lighter weight of paper. Future issues will be printed on 52 gramme paper, rather than the current 75 gramme.

We started many years ago with a decision to recycle all our paper waste. Looking to the immediate future, we are in

How good is good enough? Just how good does a person have to be to earn eternal life? According to Godâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s standard (the only standard that really counts) a person would have to live an absolutely perfect life to earn eternal life. Not one lie; not one bad thought; not one disrespectful word to their parents, etc. Perfect. Do you think you have fulfilled and maintained this strict standard? Romans 3:19 says, â&#x20AC;&#x153;...what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.â&#x20AC;? You see we have all broken Godâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s law and the whole world stands guilty before God! No one can argue that they have lived a perfect life. No one â&#x20AC;Ś not you, not me, no one. We donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t like to think about it, but itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s true â&#x20AC;Śwe all have sinned â&#x20AC;&#x201C; broken Godâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s law (Romans 3:10, 23). We have ALL offended a holy God, who will by no means pass by sin.

How bad is too bad? Maybe you think you have sinned so much that there is no forgiveness for you. God is Holy, but He loves to forgive. God loves you and is not willing that any should perish. He showed his love toward us in that â&#x20AC;&#x153;while we were yet sinners Christ died for usâ&#x20AC;? (Romans 5:8). To those who turn from their sin and receive Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord, He assures us, â&#x20AC;&#x153;I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no moreâ&#x20AC;? (Jeremiah 31:34). . We do not have to go to that place of torment which the Lord Jesus calls hell.

So, none are without sin, but none are without hope, either. The Lord wants â&#x20AC;&#x153;all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.â&#x20AC;? (1 Timothy 2:4). A sinner in Bible times asked the question â&#x20AC;&#x153;What do I have to do to be saved?â&#x20AC;? The answer was simple, yet profound, â&#x20AC;&#x153;Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.â&#x20AC;? (Acts 16:31). On the cross of Calvary, Jesus Christ was satisfying the just demands of Godâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s law against sinners - He was made sin that we might, through him, be made righteous. In order for God to no longer see us as guilty hell-deserving sinners, and fit us for heaven, we each need by faith to personally accept that Christ died in our place. Godâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s redeeming love for sinners is found only in Christ, and the sinner is out of Christ. Put your trust in the finished work (death, burial, and resurrection) of the Lord Jesus Christ, and God will save you by faith in His Son and give you the gift of the Holy Spirit to enable you to live for Him and know Him as your Lord.â&#x20AC;&#x153;...if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be savedâ&#x20AC;? (Romans 10:9). Be done with your pride and bow your knee to the Lord Jesus. Only when a sinner turns from his sin and bows to Jesus as Lord and Saviour, can he have eternal life. No matter how good you think you are or how bad you think you are, the Lord saves all those who come to Him in faith. The Lord Jesus says â&#x20AC;&#x153; him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast outâ&#x20AC;? (John 6:37).

Reject Him no longer. Eternity in Hell is a long time to remember that you rejected Christ.
