Concept: The site was located infront of the “red light district” in Berlin. The street had prostitution that is considered legal in Europe. It was really difficult for me as a human and a student of architecture to see such tragedy happening. I felt that it was my duty to do something about it. I had to take my rule as an architect to change what is happening in Berlin, hoping to improve people’s life conditions.

I decided to create a hotel integrating the prostitution in the surrounding area. The idea was to take the prostitute off of the street and actually put a roof on top of their head. The hotel ended up to be a sex hotel that integrated the prostitution and introduced different programs. The hotel is created from 4 different towers that connect through the lobby where they meet. All the four towers celebrate the sexuality that brings this program together. They all break the boundaries between the bedrooms and bathrooms. Tower A&B hosts the more romantic luxurious hotel rooms while Tower C works as a one hour hotel, and finally Tower D works as a residential for the prostitutes.

The site was located in the corner of a major intersection between Potsdamer Strasse and Kurfurstenstrasse. The ground floor of the hotel becomes more of an interior street hosting display windows for the prostitutes, a restaurant, the main lobby and an outdoor public space that opens up in the front and back.
The four towers are confronted with each other while they are connected on the ground floor through inner streets
The living streets in the lobby become an interaction space between the prostitutes and the users of the hotel
Tower C - Large room rendering. The bathtubs are placed in the bedrooms and the boundaries are broken between the bedroom and bathroom

Concept: The main concept was revolving around an idea that I have experience in my highschool in Cambridge Rindge and Latin Highschool. The idea was to mix all the different art department between themselves to encourage the students to learn from each other and inspire one another. By mixing the program and not isolate the different departments, you get the students to bump into eachother and see each other perform different art skills. Therefor the students will influence each other to learn other art skills.

The idea of the facade was to cover where the books are and expose the reading spaces to the sun light with an intersection between both sides. The intersections that happen between the reading spaces and the books allow some natural light to penetrate the skin to reach for the books.

My personal design for the client while working at Edge The design was a compitation between other 5 Co-workers for a client to design a duplex-villa that will be built. There were no specific requirements for the project expect the total needed rooms in the house and the building codes. The idea of the design started with tilting everything in the plan 45 degrees to create two different experiences and faces of the house. The concept has turned around and ended up to what it is today. An experiment between light and shadow with the voids that penetrate the house. Note: The design and the concept idea was fully developed by me with the help of Hani Shata. The rendering and the materials chosen are the work of a co-worker.
