What you got there? The little red on this month’s front cover is a personal favourite of mine and local photographer Zoe Cox was able to get up close and personal with this little lady.
Zoe has taken the time and dedication to visit her local nature reserve on an almost www.coweschiropracticclinic.co.uk daily basis (in fact I wouldn’t be surprised if it was more than once some days!) and her perseverance has paid off as Zoe is now in the position where she can hand feed her and stroke her. You can obviously see from this photo how inquisitive she is and wants to know exactly what Zoe has in her hand. This shows the trust that can grow between local wildlife and humans.

Zoe is a wildlife fanatic and has thousands of photos of foxes, birds of prey and her favourite of them all, red squirrels. Choosing just one picture for the front cover became a very hard task as she has managed to capture the beauty of them all. This is the second time that one of Zoe’s photos For a caring and compassionate service has appeared on the 40 Place Road, Cowes. Tel: 292932 front cover, and last time was the amazing www.geoffleather.co.uk picture of a fox, which Client Parking once again she gained Place Rd the trust of, and he was Newport Private Chapel of Rest s Rd Node happy to pose for her Newpo Personal Service rt Rd whilst she took pictures. Welcome to the July issue and thank you for picking up a copy of your local community magazine. This month’s issue, as usual is packed with news, information, advertisers, feature editorials and much more. Now summer is here the Island is getting busier and there are many events happening throughout July and you can find details of these on the ‘Dates for your Diary’ section on pages 10, 11 and 12. July officially sees the start of Carnival season and we will keep you updated of when and where they are taking place. One of the best parts about my job is the positive feedback I receive from readers who let me know how useful and informative they find the magazine. I also hear from advertisers who have received a good response from their advert. I hope you all have a fantastic July and lets hope the sunshine continues and we can keep on enjoying the Island and all it has to offer. Until next month...

News Report from Cllr Paul Fuller - 74 Wyatts Lane, Cowes, PO31 8QA. Telephone: 01983 289595 - Email: paulfulleriw@gmail.com Missed Surgeries! - Apologies to residents who turned up to surgeries in early June. For just over a week I contracted a horrible infection which meant that I was put in quarantine, and was only available to take calls. To be certain for future reference, please visit: paulfullercc.blogspot.com. The Surgery section is constantly updated in the uncommon event that circumstances change. Cowes Parking - Myself, Lora, Cllr Bertie and Cllr Nicholson have met to discuss car parking, and its impact upon Cowes. Following an initial meeting, and meeting with the cabinet member a follow up will take place in the next few weeks. On a very positive note the views of all four Councillors (and residents!) seem consistent with policy makers. Beach Huts - Thank you so much to the residents who copied me into the recent consultation undertaken by Cllr Hutchinson, on proposals to significantly increase fees to raise revenue. In my response, I suggested that like other authorities (The New Forest) the IW Council offsets any increase to hut owners without homes on the Isle of Wight. Gurnard Beach, Bonfires and Disposable Barbecues - Signage has been requested following concerns being following incidents of abandoned barbecues. If you must have a barbecue, please extinguish and dispose of properly and refrain from lighting these in and around huts. Litter, Gurnard Green and Princes Green, Cowes - Litter continues to be a problem. With increased frequency of collections, support (from Gurnard Parish Council) and monitoring by Samantha our Environment Officer, I’ve received fewer complaints than last year. Please note; if a bin is full and there are no 4
empty bins nearby please take your rubbish home. In the meantime, very big thank you to those residents seen at the break and fall of the day, who relentlessly tidy up to ensure our green spaces continue to look beautiful. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if there is a problem. (I am available 24hrs!) I will, as always try my best to help! Annual Report 2018 - 2360 Annual Reports have now been delivered. A month on, 10kg lighter, let me know, if I missed you! Thank you so much to the residents I met for the sustenance, positive words, the encouragement and some of the wonderful stories. Place Road - Comments were received concerning the height of proposed dwellings on Phase 4. These issues and its perceived impact of the ridge height are being assessed by Planning Officers. The Range Pedestrian Refuge. - Island Roads has approved drawings, and the Planners advise they are awaiting solicitors to approve proposals under Section 278/38 of the Road Traffic Act. Officers continue to chase this! Watersedge Café - I continue to receive calls from residents concerning proposals for the Watersedge Café. All issues are being considered by the Planning Officer, and once I know more I will let residents know. Construction site Bonfires - Action was taken by Environmental Health following a building contractor lighting up a bonfire and upsetting neighbours in Gurnard. Subsequently when the boss returned to the site, I’m reliably informed he was gutted by the upset caused.
News Report from Cllr Paul Fuller continued
SOS Flat Roofing
Northwood Cemetery - Following works to drain Somerton Reservoir, I contacted officers following several plots becoming waterlogged. Remedial action was taken and the situation continues to be more closely monitored. Northwood Recreation Ground - I’ve asked that grass cutting is properly monitored in the Recreation Ground. This follows complaints of hidden dog poo, and pot holes that residents have twisted ankles upon. Samantha, our Environment Officer has been fab as always and has taken action to address the problem and in the meantime this dog poo continues to be monitored. Overgrown Hedgerows - Following feedback I have asked that overgrown hedgerows and sight lines continue to be monitored by our district steward in Rew Street and Cockleton Lane. Please let me know if there are other roads where action is necessary.

Universal Credit Rollout - I have received a number of calls and provided support to some very unhappy residents concerning the rollout of Universal Tax Credits during June (This was originally time tabled to take place later this year) One of the main concerns being raised to me is the potential for delays in payment and the impact this may have upon some of our most vulnerable residents. Advice can be found at: www.iwight.com/ Residents/Benefits-Council-Tax-and-BusinessRates/Housing-Benefit/Universal-Credit2 and www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/ universal-credit/ As always, please contact me for support!

Changes Through Understanding
After working for over 30 years in the music business and after his own personal experience of hypnotherapy, which changed his whole outlook on life, Richard Evans decided it was time to make a drastic career change and qualified as a Clinic Hypnotherapist at the Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy. During Richards own experience in 2004 where he was suffering with back problems which hindered simple tasks such as walking. He found that hypnotherapy helped him to cope mentally with the pain, made him re-consider his lifestyle which in turn helped him to lose weight and brought him to the point he is now. He realised that change comes through understanding and hypnotherapy can help with quitting smoking, stress, weight control, self esteem, phobias, sleeplessness and many more conditions. Clinical Hypnotherapy is a means of unlocking the unconscious mind. It is a combination of Richard, the clinical hypnotherapist and his client working together to create therapeutic changes which can permanently alter a person’s life. Richard acts as a guide by first talking and listening, he then gains an understanding of the client and their particular and personal needs.
