No island comes this close... The Isle of Wight is widely considered to be the camping capital of the UK, largely thanks to our beautiful scenery, extra hours of sunshine and the fact that you can feel miles from home, when in fact it can be just a few hours door to door! The short stretch of water separating us from the mainland creates that holiday feeling. In an age when we are constantly ‘on’, hooked up to gizmos looking for the next best thing, it is the simplicity of camping, the mental switching off, that attracts thousands of us to ‘sit in a field’ each year. Coupled with great-value attractions, funpacked events and some of the best dining in the UK, the Isle of Wight is the perfect holiday home from home. Our handy guide details the best campsites, glamping areas and campervan hire companies, as well as hints and tips on where to go and what to do as you make the most of your camping trip on the Island. So pitch up, switch off and relax…
