SIMPLE ACT OF KINDNESS FOOD DRIVE

Make a difference in our community and make a donation during our library sponsored food drive benefitting the Wheeling Township Food Pantry. It’s a simple yet impactful way to help those in need. Donate canned goods such as vegetables, fruits and proteins like tuna and beans. A donation bin will be available in the lobby at the main library. Stop by the Launch Pad to participate in a culinary inspired community art project where you decorate a wood circle to add to a larger mural located in the main library.

Celebrate diverse cultures in the library community with our series of curated programs. This issue focuses on Black American themes. Look for the logo next to the program titles as each issue of the newsletter will feature new cultures to explore.

ANNOUNCEMENT

The Launch Pad has selected its first Maker-in-Residence, local resident Anastasia Sitnikov. Anastasia holds an MFA in Studio Arts from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is a sculptor by trade and has presented her art at many exhibitions. During the course of her residency she will create an installation for the library. Upon the completion of the project, a large-scale wall sculpture that interweaves macrame with laser-cut objects created by library members will be installed in the library.

Visit the Launch Pad Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 12 through July 11, from 3-5:30 pm, to observe and acquaint yourself with Anastasia, our resident artist, as she works on her sculpture. If you wish to contribute to the sculpture by laser cutting objects, don’t forget to sign up for the Laser Cutting Your Past program on page 11.
