Show up a few minutes early

Because the schedule is so tight, you don't want to miss a minute. Showing up a few minutes early and letting your children observe what is happening can be a good warm up (just be sure to stay over to the side so you aren't in the background of anyone else's photos.

dress for the weather

Cold kids cry. It's just a fact. If kids are cold, it'll show through in their photos, so layer up for your photos if the weather calls for it; a cute cardigan or cute coat. Something to keep them happy. You can also keep your coat or blanket on your child until right before we start shooting.

BOTTOMS UP. Tops down. If you have a child in a dress, I highly recommend putting bloomers under. If you have a low cut top on, throw a cami under or use some double sided tape to keep your clothes in place. Because the session is so quick there's not always time to primp before we shoot. A trick you can use is to stand in front of a mirror and bend down or touch your toes. If you see anything falling out/down, then try to cover.

Rewards!

I like to work for pay checks. Don't you? Your children probably do too. Offering a special treat for good behavior never hurts so there will be NO JUDGEMENT from me if it's coated in sugar!!!

SMILE!

As parents we have a tendency to look at our kids to see if they are doing waht they are supposed to. Or we try to point to the camera to have them look at the camera. While these are all good tricks for full sessions, for minis, it's best to keep your eyes on me and let me worry about getting the kiddos attention.

Most importantly. Let me do the worrying for you. Enjoy these few minutes and just be you! Pictures don't always come out exactly as we had envisioned in our heads--but I think however they turn out is always BETTER! Thanks for letting me be the to capture you guys.
